prepare to die!!! he has all pre-med, pre-blah-blah-blah students to take care. he drops you with a W/F with no exceptions.
The above rating is true, but this guy is an AWESOME prof. If you have to take A&P, definitely take it with this guy
HE IS A GOOD TEACHER BUT VERY BORING YOU HAVE TO READ A LOT MAKE SURE YOU READ. GIVES REVIEW THE CLASS BEFORE THE TEST WHICH DOES NOT GIVE YOU ENOUGH TIME TO STUDY.
HE IS A GOOD TEACHER, BOY OH BOY, HIS TEST ARE VERY HARD. HE GIVES REVIEW TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE TEST. ALL I CAN SAY GET READY TO READ AND READ. IT A HELL OF A TOUGH CLASS WITH HIM.
Is it just me, or is Dr. Henry really good lookin' for an old guy. Kinda like George Clooney old guy hot. Haha, but yea...I'm having to retake this class. Pisses me off cause I studied my ass off
Very hard class but I enjoyed it before I had to drop. Anatomy I was hard, but Anatomy II killed me. He goes fast and expects you to know everything he is talking about.
This class is one the demands study time. If you don't study you won't pass. Reading is a must and SI sections are helpfull to. You can do well in this class if you put forth the effort!
for bio 101 he teaches it like it is micro biology. If you study hard you can pass, barely. even though it says for non science students that is not true.
Great professor! I loved this class. Its hard though, you really have to study and put forth effort. www.myandp.com helps tremendiously! Go and debate all your missed test questions with him in his office! You can almost always earn extra credit for questions previously wrong. It made the difference between an A and B for me! Get Natalie for lab!
If you do not read the book(Seriously, not just skim), go to lecture and do supplemental work, you are going to fail MISERABLY. Lectures fast and expects you to know material beforehand. No extra credit. Tests:multiple choice. Sometimes curves exams. Overall he's ok. Prepare to devote some time to this class if you want an A.
Dr.Henry is a force to be reckoned with. He comes into the lecture hall like a tornado of knowledge and if you're not diligent and focused you'll just get left behind. Lots and lots of time is required in order to do well in this class. It is BY NO MEANS an easy class, but it's doable if you're determined.
I liked him so well that I'm putting off transferring schools. You MUST show up to class, read the book before the lecture, and do the study guide or you will be terribly lost. Don't let yourself get behind, you'll never catch up. He hands out the A tests in lecture and lets the top few students out of the final.
Hardest class I've ever had, but I learned a ton and it prepared me for higher level science classes extremely well. My grade wasn't very good, but that didn't reflect how much I learned.
Class is mostly interesting. He really just lectured while showing pictures and figures from the book. The tests were basically straight from the book so that means reading is mandatory! There is a lot of information to read for the tests. Henry is a funny and interesting professor but definitely not easy.
This is definitely not an easy class, but it's not meant to be. I took both Anatomy classes with Henry and I learned a great deal. I painfully made an A in both and he didn't make me take the final. If you make an A in the class then you don't have to take the final. Perk!
Dr. Henry is AWESOME!! A&P is a difficult course, but Dr. Henry is a very good professor. I managed an A in both A&P I and II by going to class, painfully reading the textbook, and studying like crazy. But the A is worth it in the end. It looks very good on the nursing school application.
Ok. Nice guy but you need to read before class. Then do the CD and study guide. Really isn't that hard. Just have to be willing to work. very generous in his curves. Interesting class. Kinda scattered lectures but interesting. READ before class. You won't be lost. I went to SI too. It helped me just cuz it's repetition.
Dr. Timothy Henry is SOOOOOOO hot for an older man. My God! The pic does not do him justice. Look at him up close and WOW! HE's older ok? But he's just hot. HE's REALLY smart and sooo sweet. Henry is just overall sexy! SEXY! SEXY! SEXY! oh, about the class. If you read hard & study and go to lec you'll make an A. he curves tests too. HOT! Take him!
Wow.Umm I don't know how to follow up with that. I meanhe's a good lookin' older man. But when I say older, I mean older. jee WHIZ! somebody's kinda crazy about Dr. Henry. Anyways, he's a great prof. He's not too hard he's a good guy he curves amazingly and he teaches well. YOU do need to read the chapter or at least do the study guide. TAKE him!!!
This is a DIFFICULT course, so you HAVE TO READ the textbook BEFORE class! Also, complete the study guides and practice SI exams because they are a great review for the actual tests. He's a tough professor, but you can definately make an A if you regularly attend class and read!!!!
i would def. go to class i had him for anatomy did not go to class as much as i should have...he is very helpful when you need him ..read the book though to help on the tests...go to his office and get to know him...he is very easy to talk to.
i took the internet course. be ready to read like 400 pages worth of science. (no kidding!)looking back i should have taken the CLEP, this stuff was so boring. sometimes test wouldn't open and i'd stay up all night waiting. sometimes i'd just be like "forget it" and take a zero. i had to wait 12 hours for one test to open!
Dr. Henry is amazingly hot. He smiled with these cute dimples and never shies away from grinning. Pure texan, his wife is disabled and a very nice man. Awfully cute. He is hard, but lots and lots and lots of fun. Talk about sexy! You have to read hard, but if you can manage, you will love him and his class. Just study!!!! Have I mentioned he's hot?
Guys!!!! beleive me. His class is impossible. YOu have to read 500 pages for one test. His lectures scatters everywhere... not solid. He use PPT. and notes and books all but basically tells nothing. YOu have to teach yourself. If you want to cry ..take this guy. OH he us RUDE.
I agree with everybody who says Dr. Henry is hot. He is really open-minded about a lot of issues that you wouldn't expect from a Southerner, and even though his class is difficult, I really enjoy attending.
He is a good prof. but his tests are kinda hard...he does give high curves sometimes...Reading the book mght be a good idea or attending the SI sessions could be helpful too if you don't want to read the long, boring chpts...he exempts ppl frm the final if u hv. A by then(w/ 3 exams + the lab)...otherwise you hv. to take the comprehensive final :(
Okay, I took this class online. There are 16 quizzes, 4 tests, and a final, which is Comprehensive, 100 questions, 2 hr limit. Make sure you read the material thoroughly because the Comprehensive can either for you or against you. Read and stay on schedule with this course. It's a lot of reading!
You learn a lot of stuff in a short time. I would study and go to SI all the time and made a F. Never passed a test. I am not the smartest person, but I put a lot of effort into this class and really enjoyed learning it. He has been teaching a long time and forgets that we the students don't know everything he is talking about.
He is a nice guy, makes very funny comments. With that aside, he moves very quickly and goes into detail. I made an A in lab (Ms. Mayo best lab teacher) but the lecture totally brought my grade down, but on the upside, he curves like CRAZY! So this class could go both ways for you. Print the SI notes after each lecture. Bring Book to class.
Great guy, but you don't even have to be in the class to learn anything. He goes so fast it is pointless to write anything. All his note are mostly diagrams, and all his other notes are online but they are so much materiel no one is sure exactly what to study. And the test are another promlem completely, cause the wording is just terrible.GO TO SI!
Reads straight from the book and goes EXTREMELY fast. Never could find a way to take notes in his class that would work. Tests were very hard, and the final was insane in both A&P 1 and A&P II ALOT of work, especially if you're taking more than one science.
It is really hard to keep up with him in class but I found the best way to do so is take your book and highlight/take notes as he lectures. His tests aren't horrible but the final is comprehensive over 17 chapters...so don't think you can skim the material, take the test and never see it again because you will! Otherwise he is very nice and helpful
He's a really good teacher and accually teaches. It's just alot of information to know on the test. It's not impossible. I got a high B but that was with alot of studying. You do have to try.
He goes pretty fast, but I scribbled down important things he repeated. Some ppl liked to highlight what he covered in the textbook. He does give a lot of extraneous info that's interesting, so just learn to how to distinguish the two. I made a B while taking 17 hours, but I would advise not taking two sciences. He's a good guy and funny.
For an online class it was actually very simple as long as you kept up with the due dates, if you for some reason needed extra time he was more then willing to give you time. He responds to emails promptly. (i took the class online) it was by far one of the best. I am about to take the second part with him as well...
His class is very interesting, he is funny and shows that he really likes what he does. Many people complain that he is too hard, but I say that anatomy is a class that has a lot to cover, you have to work for your grade. It is not an easy A class, you really have to put effort into it. If you are trying to get into nursing I would strongly recomme
I went to the Si, I hired a tutor, I read the chapters and the study guide...and still didn't do well. He is HARD. He teaches it easy and free, told me to NOT READ THE BOOK, but study the study guide-and I did. wanted to take it again in Summer II until i found out he's teaching it. I have had my fill. Going to a Community College for A&P II.
Used text, lecture boring, lecture all about figures, fast, 50 % go by revu, NOT totally BY EXAM REVU make sure u read everything, discuss your missed questions, ask if u ask him during test he will give u the right answer (try), if u don't know something go to his office and ask him, CURVE, not recommend him but u have too caz Dr.fred always full
Online class is challenging, but doable. Easy to navigate, but he gives a lot of information and very little test questions. The quizzes allow one minute per question. Keep up with the due dates and take good notes. Good way to get the class overwith quickly, because you can move at your own pace.
Took his online class and it was really hard to keep up. not only am i a single mom but I had a test every 5 days. I went over the time taking a quiz for 30 sec and he deducted 10 pts off. If you have more then enough time on ur hands take him. if u dont look elsewhere.By the way you dont use a book online he provides all the material.good teacher
The exams are difficult but doable. You have to REALLY, and I mean REALLY, study and read the textbook and fully understand concepts and the material. Don't blame the professor if you're too lazy to take the time and learn the information.
You have to study. The material is hard and there is A LOT of it. Read the book, take detailed notes on every chapter, and start studying over a week before the test and you will be able to get a's or b's on the tests.
You must study. A lot. Take your book to class and write in it as he talks - he moves too fast through slides to really get down all the information, and most of it is out of the book anyway. He's a hard teacher, but knows what he's talking about. You'll definitely learn a lot with him! He even makes jokes!
His lectures are boring, but its worth attending because if he emphasizes on something more than twice, that means you will definitely see it on the test. If you study hard, you can get an A in this class. This guy goes straight off the book.
He lectures from his own slides but has general PowerPoint slides up on the Internet. He talks about what's important to know on his tests and then a few days before the test he tells you exactly what you need to study to ace the test. It's anatomy so of course there will be a lot of work, but as long as you keep up there shouldn't be any problem with getting yourself a B if not an A
Awesome teacher! Come to class, read ahead in the book, take good notes, and study HARD for exams. His class can be difficult but totally worth it. And he makes it interesting!
SI was key for my success in this course. There has been a turnover in instructors, but if you could get ahold of old SI notes (maybe they still use them?) and do those, thats 90% of the concepts for the test. I pulled off an A with SInotes, solid labgrades, skimming the book, & asking ?'s in office hrs. He curves & he's SUPER fine for an old guy!
His tests are very difficult, you really have to understand everything in order to do well on his test. He's very helpful and understanding. Even though I barely made an A in his class, (studied for hours and hours with every book from the bookstore that dealt with A&P), I LOVED his class in the end because he really wants us to learn!
For a few months i had no friends or a life but it was worth it I received an "A". His tests are simple and straightforward but EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. One must memorize the book and understand all the concepts. Interesting lectures though.
YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!!! The class is not that difficult if you read before class, go to class, then study the powerpoints after class. He does tend to read of the slides, but sometimes the emphases gives hints for the test. GO TO CLASS THE DAY BEFORE THE TEST, HE PRETTY MUCH TELLS YOU EVERYTHING THAT WILL BE ON THE TEST.
His class is hard. Read the textbook before class and lectures are easier to pay attention to without falling asleep. His tests are hard, but luckily he curves them.
Very kind professor, but tests are over large amounts of material. Attend class period before the test for a review that comes straight from the test. Go to him for help if you need it! An A is definitely possible if you put in the effort. Try to do well in lab as well
Great professor but test are hard because of wording and how much material is covered. do good on lab and 3 test so u don't take final for this class your best bet is to read the book becuz i fell asleep every time. read for understanding!! study in advance SI is a must!!!!
His tests are extremely hard due to material amount as well as wording of questions. Lectures are extremely boring so it is easier to just read book.
It's a difficult class but if you read the book and go to SI you will do fine. Go to class the day before the test. Good lab grade also helps.
This class is very difficult, it's almost a self-taught class. During his lectures, he just reads off his powerpoints. His test are hard because he asks very detailed questions. He gives a review, but it's not really helpful because it's very broad. Do well in lab to boost your grade! You HAVE to read the book & put in a lot of outside time.
Try to get a good grade in Lab!!! his review before the test are helpful especially if you read ahead and just have to go through a couple of things...they aren't helpful if you know nothing and have to do it all in 1 day.SI helps ALOT curve ranges from 6-10 pts. if you study hard this will help you get an A but if u don't don't expect it to help
Dr. Henry isn't a great lecturer but his lack of skills in lecture makes you teach yourself which in the end is better for you! Reading the book is a MUST! I did not read his notes at all (because they are copied word for word from the book) Tbh, I didn't go to class either (except the day before the test) and I still made an A. Read and UNDERSTAND
Lab is easy and interesting, the practicals are a lot of work to study for but still not that bad. Do well in lab, go to SI and read the textbook in depth. Invest time in learning and understanding the material and you will do well.
I never read the book, just studied the slides faithfully and only referenced back to the book for clarity. Nice guy, but his lecture sucks. I wound up teaching myself most of the material. Lab was interesting though!!! Final words: Take Frederick if at all possible, more opps for extra credit...
Took the online Intro to Biology for non-biology majors... It was a nightmare. You had to order a lab pack then submit lab reports that took hours at home. No book, only online notes. These notes were not easy to read and transition into test material. Probably the hardest course I have taken. I would AVOID if possible. He was not helpful either.
If you are an auditory learner, you should avoid taking him at all cost. In order to succeed in this class you need to self teach by reading the book and finding someone else to teach you. He is a very smart individual but he goes really fast and 90% of the time says things backwards in lectures.
His lectures kind of suck, but if you take time to read the book and go to SI test review sessions, an A IS possible! He is a nice guy and gives good curves. Study hard and it will pay off. Slides are straight from lecture so missing class isnt a big deal.
I took Henry for A&P 1 and 2. His exams are much easier than Frederick's (the other A&P professor) Go to class and skim the chapter before going to lecture. You can definitely make an A/B but you have to put in the effort. He reads straight off the test for the review. Go to the exam review SI session before the day of the exam and you'll do great!
These reviews are hilarious. Study and you will get an A in his A&P class. Go to CLASS. His tests are purely lecture and power point. Half of these people skip class and skim the book. What a joke. Excellent professor and I have an A from listening in lecture and studying power points. Stop being lazy and stop blaming him for your poor grades.
the problem is def not the prof, it's the subject-Anatomy and Phys is just a hard course! So don't blame the prof, it's the subject. Compared to Frederick, his tests are not "tricky" whatsoever. His tests are very straightforward and his reviews are extremely helpful. This class will need 150% of your effort and time to make an "A" and understand
Must Do very well in lab. Study slides and/or book bef lectures otherwise learning material won't come so easy. His reviews are very helpful, test are straightforward, SUPER nice gentlemen, not the most fun lecturer but trust me: it's the subject, not the professor! This class needs all the time you have AND so much more! -I recommend him overall
Hard and Boring...But will be open to take again, just not in the summer time. Too rushed...
Dr Henry was NOT very helpful at all. There is no textbook, just notes that he gives you to read and then he gives you a 10min quizz. You are not allowed to skip a question and go the ones you know for sure and come back to the difficult ones. Aslo if you go over the allotted time..he takes off points. I would not recommend taking his class.
Personally, I expected to listen back to what I read previous to lecture but instead I am led into a maze of thoughts and backpedalling between information. The problem is the book can become so detailed and Dr. Henry rarely says which specific parts of the information he expects you to know. Because of that I find SI to be crucial to this course.
Took his online bio for no science major. Spent most of my time studying for his class and still didn't make very good grade. His test covers ALOT of material. His class is passable if you dedicate LOTS OF TIME to it.
Take it from a very dedicated student and do NOT take his class. He does not clarify a single thing, his exams are unpredictable, and he is useless. If you take his classes, prepare yourself for disappointment. I studied long and hard all semester long for nothing. Oh, and comprehensive final exams a week after your third exam. No dead week!
TAKE DR FREDERICK DURING SUMMER
I would not recommend taking Dr. Henry's online Biology class! A text book is not required but the notes he provides online are very hard to understand! You'll only have ten min. for ten questions on quizzes and you cannot skip around! In order to at least pass... It'll take A LOT OF STUDYING... Prayer.... and more PRAYER!!!
Success in henrys class:go over the power points and supplement with the book.If you ask him how to study he tells you his lecture is most important. I don't think thats true, but I cant learn that way anyway so I skipped lecture some. The toughest thing about henry for me was he isnt concernd with grades much even when his students are panicking
Terrible teacher. Doesn't respond to emails. Would not recommend. Seems to have no interest in helping his students to pass.
He's an awesome teacher! Had him for A&P I and now A&P II. He's willing to answer questions to help you understand, & it helps if you take the time to go to his office and talk. Super nice and funny! Tests only on his powerpoints, but use the book to help clarify. It's a hard class that covers a lot of material, NOT a class to cram for tests.
Love Dr. Henry! Had him for A&PI, too! It's a hard class that covers a lot of material, not a class to cram for. He tests on his lectures & slides, so study those & use book for backup. He's willing to answer questions if you take the time to visit him in office. Very knowledgeable! He repeats the majority of what he tests on, so pay attention!
Dr. Henry is a good professor. Anyone who takes his course needs to read the material before the lecture, attend all and pay attention during lectures, and ask questions constantly. Go to his office hours. He is helpful but will not spoon feed you information. I had him for A&P I and A&P II and passed with good grades.
I would not recommend A&P I & A&P II! It is extremely hard to make an A or a B in this class. He covers an overwhelming amount of information and his tests are unpredictable. You have to spend a lot of time to be able to succeed. The tests are so difficult. If you want to get in the nursing program and you need a good grade take elsewhere!!
Dr. Henry isn't passionate about teaching, and it shows. I feel like he just shows up and talks about the slides with no preparation. He covers too much material and his tests are unpredictable. SI was no help, and I studied endlessly for this class with no results. Seriously, don't take him.
Dr. Henry is not easy. HOWEVER, he's passionate about A&P and very fun. Expect to put hours into studying for this and lab practicals. You cannot pass with overnight cramming. I spent a week prior to exams studying for several hours a day, and made an A and was exempt from the final! Loved this class, love Dr. Henry, excited for A&P II!
doesn't respond to emails and if he does he is rude. his notes (your "textbook") are very hard to understand. too much material to cover in a VERY short amount of time. a lot of quizzes that you can't skip around on. test are hard and not enough time. u will need a miracle to pass his class. save yourself from a gpa drop and dont take him.
Henry CAN be a good lecturer and teacher, but he can also be a teacher who makes the exams really hard with random questions. Go to each class period, do well in lab, and practice your knowledge with as many old tests as possible. He used to curve, but not anymore. I can't say that that will guarantee an A, but it will guarantee a B. good luck:/
Not as bad as everyone says. Yes he is hard to follow in lecture but his test consist mainly of his power-points so study those front and back because sometimes he ask random test questions off of that. He is a helpful and nice teacher and you can do very well if you study ahead of time his test are to the point so either you know it or you don't.
Henry is a great professor!Very nice. His powerpoints are extremely helpful and the class is very interesting. The class is difficult, but if you put in enough study time, you can make an A. The material is straight forward, but his tests can trip you up. Know and UNDERSTAND the small details. his tests often quiz you on scenarios, not just facts.
he is the worst professor i have ever taken in my life never ever take him.i am a straight A student.he doesn't know to teach and expects his students to know everything. Its time for him to retire and enjoy his life with his family. he enjoy torturing his students. studied like hell and still did not get the grade i expected. worst professor ever
He's not the best lecturer. Mostly reads from powerpointsdoesn't go into detail much. Makes you use critical thinkingapplication on tests, so you really have to know the material. An A is possible, but you have to work for it. Lets you argue for points back on a test if you think you got it right. Will explain test answers if you ask.
Dr. Henry is an amazing lecturer. Go to class because he will emphasize what is important for the tests. This is not an easy class so prepare to dedicate a lot of time to study. He usually gives a "review" a class period before your test, so honestly you should not rely on the review to help you prepare for the test. Not easy but you will learn.
I'm NOT a stellar student but I loved his class. Yes he is challenging bc he requires you to learn a lot. But you actually LEARN! Since when did the goal in college become to get an easy A? If that's what you want, don't take Dr. Henry. If you want an outstanding professor, take him. Go to class, take notes, & be responsible for your own grades.
Too tough for non-science majors. No Textbook to read. He has his own. You cut and paste in order to print out and be able to study. Timed tests, too short on time.
3 tests and a final. The tests are very hard as there is a lot of material to cover. I would take Aranda over Henry if your GPA matters to you. The people who got good scores in this class found test questionsanswers on quizlet. Buy the bundle at the book store and use the WileyPlus website, it's awesome. I never went to class and got a B
the tests are soooo hard. over half the class got a C or less on every test. Unless you can devote several hours a day to studying the material, you won't make an A. It's almost impossible for non-science majors and for students who work. No extra credit opportunities either
Henry is a good professor, its just his exams that are messed up. I believe his exam is 30% of his lectures, and the rest is you find it out yourself. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT AN A!!!!!
Okay, I made an A in his class. Yes his tests are tough, but you have to put in the time and effort in order to get an A. Do not slack off in A&P Lab because it can boost your grade. I recommend looking over your notes, his power points, and the text book for extra help. Also make sure you do practice questions also.
To get an A or B in this class, you have to work for it. Always got to his lectures and study smart. Use the textbook if you really do not understand something. Take advantage of A&P Lab by getting a high grade in it; the high grade may boost you up from a C to a B, or a B to an A.
Very easy class, read the chapters and the weekly quizzes are easy , exam questions are taken directly from past quizzes. Grading criteria for the labs seemed inconsistent and he gave no indication as to what exactly he was looking for. Short and generally unhelpful email responses. If you can't learn a subject by reading don't take this class!
Dr. Henry is an incredible lecturer! He tests over his lecture so attendance is necessary. Exams will require you to apply what you've learned. 95% of exams will be tested over the physiology aspect. Anatomy is tested in lab. 3 exams + final. No replacement. His pwpts are adequate for learning the material. He'll even write songs to help you learn.
Overall I'm going to get a C in his class and it drives me crazy. At the beginning of the semester he will recommend you buy a study guide. DO IT. I failed the first two tests, bought the study guide and then I got a B on the third test. He gives reviews before the exam and they are vague and borderline pointless. I recommend you don't take it.
I took this course for the summer. It was extremely difficult to learn the ample amount of information in a summer. Class had 3 exams and a final. I would have to say Dr. Henry is one of the best professors I've had. He will give reviews day before exam and tell you what will be on the exact test. For ex: Know the diffsimilarities of ovarian cycl.
On the 3rd exam 120 people failed and only 20 people passed. I got straight As in high school but got a C(78.75) in this class. If your learning style doesn't match up with his teaching and testing, no chance. UTA admitted that there was a grading issue but instead of givingHenry's sections ex-cred they took away other professor's students' ex-cred
He's slow to reply to emails sometimes, but I think it's because he teaches so many classes. The group project sucked because this is an online class, but it's manageable. No textbook, everything is online. Take good notes and you'll do good on the quizzes. Stay ahead because it all piles up at the end! You have to buy a lab kit to do labs at home.
Dr. Henry is tough. Tests are hard and make you apply what you've learned, not just recall information. I don't like his teaching style. Seems to skip over a lot of material in the slides. Tests are the only grades beside lab
Yes, this class is really hard. If you go to lectures, read over your notes, look over his power points and also do the martini study guide; I think you should be fine. My advice is to read over the powerpoint slides or even write it down word for word on your notebook so that when you go to lecture you can just listen instead of jotting down notes
This was the hardest class I've ever taken in my college career, but Dr. Henry will really teach you how to study. Print out his powerpoint slides, bring them to class, take notes on the slides, and RECORD THE LECTURE. He can go really fast sometimes and he mainly tests on what he says plus the powerpoints. Get the book for help!
He makes his exams almost impossible to pass. His final is literally the hardest test i have ever taken in my life.
I heard how difficult Henry was but I was determined to stay in the class & try to do well. I mostly followed the 5 day study plan a week leading up to the exams & would use the weekend before to test myself. However, his tests were really difficult and I would barely pass. I would recommend taking at a comm. college or with a diff professor.
Only has 3 exams and final. No hw no extra credit which means the 3 exams are the grade. If you don't do well on them, your out of luck. His exams are not easy. After the 2nd exam, 1/3 of the class dropped. Lab is difficult too, no multiple choice questions. Henry's a funny guy and will explain the concepts but it's the exams that are tough.
He is the best anatomy teacher I've ever taken. If you're a Nursing major you need to be able to learn all this things for clinicals. In order to pass his class you need to read the book word for word. He asks you minor things you don't look at. Always come to class and study extra hard for lab cause they go together. He curves ALOT!
Professor Henry Is THE HARDEST Professor I Have Come By!!!! He talks really fast in lecture so it's hard to keep up and take notes. If you ask questions in class he answers them all rude as if "I just explained it" & his powerpoints that he gives for "review" hardly help you. Don't do It to yourself!!!!
Henry is a great professor! The material is just ridiculously hard to comprehend and memorize. If you go to his lectures and take good notes, you'll pass. He makes his lectures enjoyable and gives a lot of good tips on how to memorize the material. Often in the form of a joke. I would definitely take him again.
Do yourself a favor and don't take him if you like where your GPA is at right now. He's very into details so even if you take solid notes, it's useless because his questions are insanely difficult. Good luck.
For the love of gravy, please, if you don't wanna just PASS and get an A even with studying, this is definitely not the class for you. To get an A in the class, you need to dedicate your life to this class. And that's crazy if you're already a full-time student. Save yourself the pain and stress and don't do it.
No attendance recorded, however lecture is useful and not boring. Simply, there are 3 exams and a final. You wouldn't want to produce a health pro if they don't know what Na ions do or what releases neurotrans Acetylch. Straight forward questions, no extra credit. Lab will test heavily on muscle/skeletal. Overall, not easy A, use MNEMONICS.
If you want to pass get ready to read, read and memorize. Tough class for a core requirement. I studied and studied and barely passed. Look for a different teacher if at all possible!!!
Henry is a great! Be prepared to work extremely hard to get an A. I would suggest reading the ch before its covered in class, this will help understand lectures & cut down study time when exam time comes. GO TO EVERY LECTURE AND TAKE NOTES HE TEST WHAT HE TALKS ABOUT. Start studying 2 wks before use ppt, notes & book when needed. REPETITION IS KEY.
He lectures at a very fast tempo that no one can keep up with. It is impossible to learn from his lectures. Thankfully he posts all of the slides on blackboard where you can study. If you really study the slides for a week before the test you should be fine. One of the toughest classes I have taken so far. Takes a lot to get an A.
I took an online Biology class with him and I STRUGGLED!!! His test are hard. His reading material is looooong. A few of my classmates met up with him to see if he could give us more time on the test (he gives 10 min) and he was a complete jerk about it. DO NOT take Bio with him.
Frederick is a better anatomy teacher, but either way anatomy is going to be extremely difficult. Study several hours a week at minimum to pass, and don't fall behind like I did!
While Henry is a hard professor, I chose to take him for A&P 1 and 2. You must have a clear understanding of the material to do well in the tests. You will have to put in effort into this class, but it is rewarding. Go to his office hours and he will help you understand anything you are struggling with, and you can even earn back test points
Henry is a really cool dude, and you should do fine if you attend class and study. IT IS NOT EASY! You have to work really hard to get a good grade in here, and a lot of people drop the course. the exams are very hard, but a lot of the time, it is specific questions that he mention in lecture, so you have to go or listen to the echos to get the inf
He talks and doesn't like to be interrupted, asking questions is not encouraged. His material has not been updated properly in sometime. Content can be confusing and his review maybe wrong and if you focus on it may fail. It is suspicious if you lose trust in your prof. we all lost trust in him. Find another, goes for UTA too, they need a new prof!
I took his online class this past semester and it was pretty hard. You literally have to memorize every little detail in the readings because the quizzes ask questions that are insignificant. There are 16 chapter quizzes 4 module exams and a final. Tons of reading to memorize. Read, take notes, study and reread.... or have a photographic memory.
I attended every lecture and dedicated my life to this class during this 16 credit hour semester with a job. You will not pass this class if you do not show up and pay attention. Dr. Henry is a great lecturer and can explain everything in explicit detail. I know his reputation of being hard is correct, but sit down, shut up, and listen to the man!
Dr. Henry is a great communicator, but THE HARDEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN. just don't DO IT
Dr. Henry is amazing! He's one of those professors that you can tell really knows the material like the back of their hand. You HAVE to start studying at least two weeks in advance for his tests. Memorizing the material is not enough. This was prob the hardest class I've taken. Be sure to spend plenty of time on the material.
Very tough grader. Pretty good lecturer, but his reviews can be misleading. He will tell you for focus on things that aren't that important and gloss over things that are. You'll need to basically just ready and be very prepared for everything. He thinks his questions are straightforward, but they aren't. I would not recommend him at all.
Literally had to pay attention to little details he mentions in lecture. you must memorize practically the whole chapter including everything in the 100+ slide powerpoint over ONE chapter. ridiculous. anyone but him. And I'm a B student
Dr. Henry lays an amazing foundation for Anatomy and Physiology. I attribute my A in A&P 2 to a firm comprehension of the introductory material. Is he tough? Yea. Will he spoon feed you? No. Is he great at what he does? Absolutely. Thank you for everything !
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM, unless you love reading every single detail. Extremely thorough and hard. Questions are very detailed oriented and you must remember stupid little things. Will have 5 to 6 answers on some questions. This is not even my major and he acts like this is our future :l
DONT TAKE. DONT TAKE. DONT TAKE. TOO SERIOUS. I was taking this class just to get an elective done with, he acts like I am trying to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. No reviews for test. Can't study quizzes or tests youve taken. Lab reports are around 4000 words. Extremely difficult. Too detailed for a basic 1000 class.
Okay, so I see a lot of people complaining. Yes, I am a real student. I loved this teacher, super easy, especially if you love biology. I never had such an informative teacher. No textbook is required but you will have to read notes every week and participate in labs, one is a group project. He hands out extra credit like candy. Super awesome!
Anatomy and Physiology at UTA is definitely not a GPA booster. However, if you have to take it, I would highly suggest Professor Henry. His lectures are very clear, and as long as you go over his reviews, go to SI, and purchase the Martini Study Guide, you can get an A. It is difficult, but not impossible. The hard work is worth it.
Dr. Henry is a great professor. Wouldn't recommend skipping his lectures since he tends to reiterate important things you should know. His exams are very straightforward & true to what he discusses in class. There's also office hours to look at your exam & supplemental instruction available. Overall: STUDY and don't bs lab
LOVE DR. HENRY. He really knows his stuff, and he's obviously very passionate about what he does. Lectures are very interesting and sometimes he'll even sing you songs to help you remember content! Since this is A&P II, YOU WILL HAVE TO STUDY OUTSIDE OF CLASS. It doesn't matter how good the professor is, if you don't study you won't do well.
Dr. Henry would be an EXCELLENT prof for a Bio major, but his course for non-majors is fiendishly difficult. If you are NOT a future biologist, unless you have perfect recall of minute text details or the luck of ten thousand leprechauns on your side, you would do well to avoid this course. My physics background is the only thing that saved me!
power points over 100 slides per chapter , would male a student feel overwhelm lectures heavy
He is not good at giving lectures, he doesnt elaborate, hes rude, he thinks his jokes are funny, and he doesnt give reviews before each test, instead he reads what topics will be on the test which doesnt help. He also didnt elaborate on the grading scale therefore I had a false calculation of my grade resulting in a D in a&p 2
Not sure why everyone rated so terribly. His lectures are clear & exams are straightforward. Comes straight from lecture and PPs. There are no trick questions, they're not in depth. He asks basic questions from every topic he goes over before exam day. Went to lecture 4-5 times this semester and I've had 95+ on all exams. Textbook not needed.
There's no doubt that Professor Henry knows his stuff. My main concern with the class is that he speed through the lectures, and didn't really elaborate on specific topics. Another thing about his class is that it is exam based, so there's no homework assignments or quizzes to help with your grade. You really have to work for your grade.
Dr. Henry is a great anatomy professor. The class is hard because anatomy & physiology is very information heavy, but he gives really good reviews before tests. He also curves. Listen to lectures, write down things he says that arent in the PowerPoints, and study the PowerPoints for tests. A & P lab at UTA is frustrating, but thats not Henry.
Your grade is only made up of 3 test grades, and he doesn't give a test review he just blows through what is gonna be on it the day before in 10 minutes but is not specific at all. My class was literally 3 lessons ahead of every other class because he just speeds through the power points. Avoid him if you can.
I think that Henry is a good teacher, he does speed through but he is thorough and explains. Everything is on powerpoint, seriously everything. The study guide he suggests help, not hard to pass.
He was a Ok professor, I took him this summer. The most difficult part about this course was that there are only 4 exams total and they are mostly applied.. so he will not ask you simpple questions ... you have to know the material thoroughly. Retaking this fall with Pollock!
Dr. Henry does not teach. He will read off his slide and skip several if he even meantions a minute detail on a previous slide. Our first test we had, over 60%of the class made E for effort after a 10 point curve. Less than 20 people out of 200 made a passing grade. DO NOT FAKE HIM OF YOU WANT TO PASS! I was a 4.0 GPA student.... was. Thx Henry
Avoid Dr. Henry if you care about your GPA. He's never in his office and it's like he wants you to fail his course. He's rushing through the material to finish on time and not making sure students grasp it. I understand A&P is a heavy course but honestly. His tests are all application type. If you try to just memorize, you won't pass.
Literally the worst professor Ive ever took. He doesnt teach at all he just scims through the power points sometimes even skips some power points. I know A&P is not easy material but this teacher was trash. There is only 4 test ( so no homework, quizzes, extra credit) to try to help your grade. Test are HARD ASF. I would def AVOID him
I took his class online! Its a lot but its do able. Theres 2 labs that are a lot of work! Chapter quizzes almost every week, but if you read and took good notes you will be okay! Theres so many quizzes that you could literally not take a couple and still pass! He also offers extra credit for every section which also helps your grade!
Dr. Henry's class was one of the hardest one's I have taken at UTA, but he is a great professor! With only three tests and a final you can't afford to fail. Henry knows what he is talking about and he talks fast, so be ready to write fast. He explains things in fun ways and gives reviews before tests... don't miss class!! Loved him, hated A&P.
TIPS: Go to class, take notes and record lecture. Go back and listen to the lecture and add stuff that you missed in your notes. Study from these notes and read over the ppt. Right after you get out from test, write down the questions that you remember. Google them, and you'll find answers too. Study for the final using past test questions.
If you can teach yourself with picture powerpoints and don't want paper homework then this class is for you. Class is not mandatory and he doesn't check attendance BUT be ready teach yourself everything. Will be taking again next semester with a different professor that can actually teach the material.
This is the hardest class I've ever taken by far. I'm a 4.0 students and I typically studied 30 or more hours for each test. I made an A but, he makes you WORK for it. Attend lecture and take recordings, read the powerpoints thoroughly, read the textbook, start studying for exams a week in advance. BEWARE of lab, the TA's suck.
A&P II is a challenge, but the reason I took Henry again is that he keeps things "to-the-point". I took notes on his lectures (do NOT skip them, it just makes things harder), made reviews with my notes + his powerpoints, and studied my butt off. People complain about his class, but he is a great professor. Lots of work and determination required.
Dr. Henry is extremely intelligent. However, he does not know how to lecture. His PPTs consist of roughly 100 slides and speeds through half of it in a day. 4 exams that includes the final (weighs the most). I was a 4.0 student before taking him. Was. The only good thing about this class was the curves (because exam averages were always low).
If you learn best by listening, this professor is for you. If you are a visual learner (like me) please do not take Henry. He often gets ahead of himself on ppts so a lot of the information ends up being covered verbally instead of being written on the ppt. Also, go to class and reread the ppts. I had to take his class twice.
Definitely record his lectures and NEVER miss a day. He is very intelligent & it's hard for us bc he expects us to know what he's talking about(study EVERY DAY & read the book in advance)He is very challenging&zooms through the ppts bc there's a lot to cover& for that reason, the material did stick in my brain has actually helped me retain info
Too many ppt slides, the first chapter was 100 slides. I understand it's a lot of material but it's excessive. I saw Pollocks exam 2 total slides 95 slides. Henry more slides and easier tests? Watching the recorded lectures helped. And please review your exams! totally worth it
Worst option to take by far. Took the class online for credit but it was the most difficult class I have ever taken. Tests and quizzes are incredibly detailed and require you to have every sentence memorized. Avoid at all costs if you don't want to panic as the time runs out for every quiz and test.
Henry is a tough professor who word for word told me "I refuse to spoon feed you all" when I went to his office hours and asked him for studying tips so that I could improve on my next test grade. He won't even give us a test study guide. He doesn't record his lectures for echo. The lecture portion of the class has only 3 grades from the 3 tests.
Thought that this class was good. Straight to the point and that's why I like it. 3 50 mc tests, 1 100 mc final thats it. Recommend him if you're a good studier, especially with his reviews he gives the class before the test-record it & go over it at home. People who didn't do good didn't put in enough effort ik bc I suck but I put in time & work.
I took Henry and loved him! His lectures were very interesting and he is hilarious. Anything he says will most likely be on the exams. He says he doesn't do curves but he most certainly does. He test off of lectures only so if you miss class the exams will be difficult. He also will ask if the class has any questions at the end of a each chapter.
I love Professor Henry. Hes like a walking encyclopedia/library/scientist. You name it, he knows it when it comes to his field. I find him very pleasant, entertaining, fascinating. His competence literally just blows me away. If he would be the only professor I will ever need to get my degree, I would be fine with that.
Dr. Henry was much better than I expected based on previous reviews. He curves every test by 10 points, which means you automatically make 1 letter grade higher assuming you did not fail. You do not need to read the textbook because he only tests over what he says in class SO RECORD HIS LECTURES. Review the recording and you will get an A!
His power points are over 100 slides sometimes and also disliked that he did not have echo (although some reviews said he did). Personally did not like his class. Would really recommend to see if you can get another professor. No disrespect ( would not take again or recommend)
Professor Henry is very liberal! Be prepared to hear about his political views at inappropriate moments. He is a little condescending and claims that grades do not really matter so he is less willing to help. Comes across very cold and intolerant. On the bright side gives generous curves every test!
Henry has some informative lectures that, if you pay attention enough, you can learn from. But overall his tests are extremely difficult. A&P is hard in itself, and Henry's test will ensure that you know his class is hard. even if you know basic concepts and terms, that is not enough to do well. You must fully understand what goes on.
Dr. Henry is fantastic! You do not need to read the textbook. I highly recommend recording and listening to all his lectures, as he will tell you he only tests over what he says, which is true. Listen to his lectures a couple times and then read the book and watch Khan academy videos if you need clarification. You can make an A!
He assigned 16 quizzes with 4 tests 2 labs and 1 final exam. One of the hardest classes i have ever taken, be prepared to study up to 20 hours a week for a single quiz in order to bring your grade up. However, he grades lab reports very easily giving everyone 90's and up basically.
Dr. Henry tells students to read the Syllabus for a reason. If you do the work, and if you do all available extra credit, you'll make an A in this course. *Some of the assignments, particularly the 2 LAB exercises, requires a large window of time*, not only to conduct the experiments, but also to write Lab reports. He's more than fair in grading.
Dr. Henry is a kind hearted person but his labs are crazy long. You do an experiment online, print the PDF, then write a full lab report. Overall if you take his class please to the Extra Credit because if not you will wished you did. The course online is of slides and no textbook required. 5 tests (w/Final) and 10 chapter quizzes.
Dr. Henry is not a good professor simple as that. Most specifically if you have average intelligence and work hard, this will be an extremely difficult class. Henry will read each of his hundreds of slides and say "know what I spoke about" when asked questions for help. Just saying I would not take him again, rather pick anyone else. Worst I've had
I had to take this class online (summer) due to Coivd. His reviews consist of him saying to focus on "everything I talked about." He talks about everything: 40hrs worth of lecture and over 1,300 slides of important info. He doesn't seem to care about his students. Not clear about what you need to focus on. Lectures are okay, very detailed.
Took his class online (COVID-19) over the summer. He did not adapt to the online course well at all. We werent allowed an outline with our exams, which he said he would give, because he couldnt figure it out. His exams were extremely tough and he excepted us to know everything he talked about, which was literally everything, almost 1400 slides!
took this class during summer, which was supposed to be face to face. due to the ongoing pandemic we have, it was moved to online. professor Henry could care less about his students. he acted as if this pandemic didn't affect people in many ways. he says to review "everything he says" when all he does is read over slides. take anyone but him
Dr. Henry is actually easier than other A&P professors at UTA. The reason is that he does not test out of the textbook AT ALL. Record his lectures and learn the processes of the organ systems and you can most definitely make an 'A'! More people make an A in this class than with Pollock or Aranda. Be prepared for tough lab practicals!
Please do NOT take this professor if you have the chance. You may have read that he curves every test but the reason for that is there were less than 5 students per test that scored an A. When asked what was important for tests he'd say "everything I said, nothing I didn't." Ppts were about 100 slides long and he didn't answer questions emailed.
Dr. Henry is extremely smart but just isnt a great teacher. Maybe its because its the first real semester with Covid? He flys through lectures and expects you to know every single slide like the back of your hand (each PP is about 70-120 slides). His test reviews are completely useless and youre graded on 4 test and lab, thats it.
Dr. Henry is fair at times but can do better! His powerpoints are extremely long and it's hard to keep up with. His "exam reviews" are basically students asking questions. I wish there was a thorough study guide to work with. The fact that he expects us to know 4-5 long chap. per exam is mindblowing to me. If you can take another professor do it.
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS, RUDEST PROFESSOR
His lectures are VERY important. He does have a lot of slides but I still remember him asking questions on the test that he only SAID, so record his lectures and paraphrase those notes. He would play his harmonica in class and he does appreciate people asking questions in class.
I have never had a professor get as mad as henry whenever someone asks a reasonable question to understand the material. Class averages on exams were always 30s and we never cared. Review days? "Basically our review is you need to know everything i've ever said in my lecture for the 50 questions." Please do not take this professor if you value.
He is such an amazing professor, very thorough and expands on the material when asked. There are only 4 exams in his class, with the last one being a final. The exams are just based on powerpoint slides and on what he says in class, no need to read that thick book. As long as you print out the powerpoint and note his extra info, you are set!
I took Dr. Henry for AP1 and AP2 during Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. I passed this class by re-listening to his recorded lectures to pick up on more details. He does include little material from pathophysiology which really helped me in the long run! You don't want to procrastinate with him as your professor. He usually curves tests by a letter grade
Worst teacher Ive ever taken. You wont pass his class unless youre retaking a class of his youve already failed. You receive 4 grades in the class that ARE curved but that doesnt make a difference. He moves very quickly so make sure to watch the lecture over and over but dont worry, you still wont know what hes testing you on. Dont take.
I am currently taking him for a&p 1 for fall semester 2020 online and let me tell you WORST CLASS EVER. His ppt are 100+ slides and he says everything he says and everything on the slides u need to know for exam. His exams focus on small details and nothing big and important. Dont take him. Take pollock instead. My 2nd time taking this class.
This class is hard. It will be hard no matter who you take. However, you may benefit from the extra assignments other professors offer to boost your grade. If youre confident that you have the free time to memorize hundreds of slides before a test, or you have a photographic memory, this is the professor for you. If not, consider taking another.
Don't expect to pass with minimal effort. No matter what professor you choose, this class is pretty hard. Dr. Henry doesn't help his students much outside of lecture so make sure to show up and pay attention. His tests are solely based on his insanely long powerpoints and what he says in his lectures.
Taking Henry's class was extremely hard, but nonetheless he answered my emails, he helped me with any questions I needed to clarify and overall he was a good professor. Just read and study hard. It's very doable!
Very strict when it comes to web cam use. Tests are extremely hard and lectures are very material heavy. Not very understanding with personal life or curves.
This is an incredibly difficult course, and some people mistake a hard course for a bad professor. You really need to study for the exams and use his lectures to study, otherwise you will not do well in the class. It's based on 3 exams and a final, so a failing grade is hard to recover from. Overall, he knows the material and curves exams.
The class is difficult no matter who you take, but this was the worst professor I ever had. He knows the material in great depth, but isn't a good teacher at all. He moves way to quickly while going over hundreds and hundreds of slides and then at the end of the unit gives you a 15 minute review which doesn't even cover what's all on the exam.
I honestly liked Dr. Henry. He does lectures for 50 minutes and spends the rest of class answering any questions. Also he's one of the only professors that did live lectures. I wish there were more grades than just 4 test (including the final) and lab. He curves the test which a plus. I'm frustrated that I got a 79 and can't be bumped up to an 80.
Professor Henry online was not it. His only grades were tests and lectures were over 300 slides every time. I have never done this bad in a class with test averages usually being around 50-60 percent. I would not recommend when there are other better professors offered!!!
He gets very upset in lecture call when there are mic issues and if students are not fast to answer questions. Lectures felt very different from exams, but what he covers does appear on the test. I suggest him in person vs online classes since his teaching style isn't adaptive to online
I can't even explain the amount of stress this class gave me. I would give it a 0 if I could.
Do Not take him!!!
worst teacher ever do not take him he just talks and talks does no explaining what so ever.
He makes his exams extremely difficult and only reads off PowerPoints. He also doesnt like answer students questions. I dont recommend at all, I have to practically teach myself, Im trying really hard in his class but its just too much.
He only grades based off of tests, if you get the chance to take another professor, do it. His powerpoints are unnecessarily long, 50-120 slides long and it's hard to keep up since he moves through them so fast. He's not for everyone, try if you want, but do not recommend.
You definitely have a better chance at getting a good grade if you take Pollack or at community college. He reads off the slides and if you don't study for the exams weeks in advance you'll fail. There's a lot of material covered which makes the class difficult. It's a lot of self-study. Your grade is based on three exams and the final.
My first and only dropped course here at UTA, but this class requires so much work outside of lecture. He reads off the slides at a pretty fast pace, so it's hard to keep up, and I had to teach myself a lot of stuff. The practicals and exams are pretty specific and vocab heavy, so be prepared for that. He's harsh and his exam reviews don't help.
Your grade in the class relies only on tests. He does give pretty hefty curves, so that's nice. He can be a little monotone, but he "says exactly what he tests over." Focus on the details!! It's a lot of work, but if you put in effort, you'll probably make a C or B. He goes over his tests and re-uses questions on the final.
Grade based on 3 exams, a final & lab grade. He doesn't coordinate w/lab instructors to ensure you're learning for both the lab and the lecture simultaneously; it's like taking two different classes. You can memorize his slideshows (100-200 slides each) and still fail. Not understanding of personal circumstances at all. Would never take him again.
You're better off reading straight from the book. The fact that his powerpoints for each module go up to 50-100+ slides is a red flag. Lab content & textbook will carry you in this class. He curves exams bc the class average is usually an F for each exam. His lectures always lag behind lab material too. You can pass, but you have to teach yourself.
I took him last semester for A&P 1 and barely passed with a C. He does not teach at all. He reads the PowerPoints that are usually 100+ slides pretty much word for word. The only grades in his class are 3 exams and 1 final. The averages for all of his exams are in the 40s-50s. The only reason I passed is because of the curves he puts on the exam.
Dr. Henry is a great professor. Honestly all you need to do as in any class is attend lecture and review your own notes. Write your own notes down. It helps you retain memory. His exams are based only on what he says in lecture. He'll tell what's unnecessary to memorize. Attend lecture and review before class and you'll be good. do good in lab too
Awful, rude to students.
Never in my life have a taken a professor this difficult. He makes the easiest material seem 10x harder. 4 exams is your grade. Do not take.
He is the worst professor I have ever experienced at UTA. A&P is a hard class but there is no excuse for how bad of a professor he is. He goes completely off topic in lecture, exams are off topic. No review, no grades but exams. So condescending and sarcastic. Told me to google a question I had. Exam averages were below 50 for the class.
Dr. Henry's way of teaching is reading of the slides and explaining 2-3 concepts, after it is mainly just skipping around and reading the labels of the diagrams in the slides. Also before a test we have a "review" class where questions are asked about the topics that are "supposed" to be on the test. Don't believe what he says study everything.
Dr. Henry gets a bad rep. Exams are based off of what he talks about in class so go to class or find someone to record lectures, bc he doesnt. His lectures arent THAT boring for an anatomy class and he answers questions on email fairly quickly. To do well on an exam you have to study A LOT but its totally possible. Take another prof if you can tho.
I am 100% certain that if I did not choose Henry I would not have felt the need to drop the class. Our tests were lockdown browser AND in person while other teachers let their students take their tests at home with notes. You can guess how frustrating that was to see. He has terrible lectures and does not care about us or our questions at all.
DONT DO IT! do not waste money on this class. All test are lockdown browser and IN PERSON. 3 units exams and cumulative 100 question final. You will be teaching yourself like 99% of the time. Even with the generous curve the class average is still a failing grade.
This is the class you take if you want to make yourself miserable for an entire semester. If you do have to take it, however, discard your textbook and focus on the slides. If you expect accommodations for tech issues during tests don't, you'll take the loss to your grade. Good students collectively suffer throughout this class.
If you are considering taking Henry, be ready to do a lot of reading and studying. A powerpoint for one chapter is over 100 slides and he zooms through like 40-50 in the 50 minute time frame. His exams are extremely hard and concept based. Understanding the material and reviewing after every class is key. Take somebody else if you don't study well.
The bottom line is A&P is a difficult class. Any A&P class is hard and if you're pre-med, nursing, or anything similar you have much harder classes coming. Yes, the ppts are long but many slides are repeat info/just photos. I studied regularly, as anyone would need to do in this class, and got a B.
Basically reads off PowerPoints, and very dull and boring.
If you are a terrible test taker do not take this class! Your class grade is only based on 3 50 questions unit exams, a cumulative 100-question final, and your lab grade. Be prepared to read and study a lot outside of class, you will basically have to teach yourself. Curves are very generous so a decent grade in this class is possible!
I highly recommend Dr. Henry! He is an amazing lecturer and and obviously very intelligent man, he loves answering questions and will help you to understand the material. He only tests about what he talks about and what he talks about is in the PowerPoints available on Canvas! He really does care about the students and want s them to be successful
Worst teacher I've had in my life. I've taken many other science courses- none compare to the ridiculousness of this one. Don't listen to any 5 star review you may find, guarantee they aren't real
SELF STUDYING IS A MUST, READ TEXTBOOK. Lectures don't follow the textbook but quizzes & tests rely heavily on the textbook. Reading & studying through the textbook is essential. Lectures can be helpful. He's a nice guy and anatomy is now standardized w/ all teachers so all quizzes, hw, & tests are the same so it's not any harder in that aspect.
*The* worst A&P prof hands down--goes through 100+ slides per class like its nothing, gives unhelpful answers to students trying to clarify, and had no homework or quizzes--just the ppt slides from canvas--that he doesn't even update. How's that fair? What kind of prof uses diff slides in class than what's given to students??? Oh yea, Henry.
Anatomy is a course that will always be hard no matter who you take. I wouldn't go back to Professor Henry because his grades are solely based on 4 tests, which are extremely complex. Tests are usually 50 questions but again they are pretty difficult questions. Find a study method that works or you will no do well in this class.
Dr.Henry is a very intelligent man and definitely knows the subject in all aspects. However, the way he teaches class makes the content 10x more difficult. He only reads off powerpoint in lecture and there was a point in the semester when he skipped ahead to a set of chapters that were not going to be on the next exam. Be prepared to teach yourself
Easy class. Read and skim book and slides, attend lecture, write notes, take homework, quizzes and repeat.
I would rate him a zero. After taking 2 quizzes and 2 exams, making a B average on them, he changed my grades to zeros for all four grades. My grade was then 42%. When I reached out to him he said 1 of my 2 cameras was off. Both were recording before each test and I showed the cameras in my environmental check. He said it did not pertain to him.
Took him for both A+P I and A+P II. He was much better in A+P II. He makes you pay for a lot of extra stuff that is not included in tuition and fees (attendance, webcam, tripod for webcam, etc.) He also goes through slides really fast. Learning Objectives were what let me pass the class. I would check for better professors before choosing him.
He was really nice, really cared about the subject matter and teaching but a little hard to follow, especially if you have never taken an anatomy course before. I would take the class again though!
Struggled to keep up with him in class so basically started learning everything on my own. Be ready to study 70-80 slide ppts per chapter every week for 2-3 weekly quizzes. Biggest complaint would be his ppts since he has too muhc information on them that is sometimes wrong & pointless. Also randomly adds slides or edits his ppts which doesn't help
I agree with the other reviews, but he is not that bad. He goes through the slides very quickly, and the slides don't always have helpful information on them. The learning objectives and the textbook is what helped me the most, as well as the generous curves...our exam averages were low. If you put in the time to study, you will do fine. :p
Professor Henry's class can be challenging, but if you put in the time to study the textbook and lecture slides, you can do well. I found unstuckstudy AI to be a lifesaver for practice tests alongside the free textbook resources. Overall, an engaging course if you're willing to put in the work.
Made an A on the first exam, teach yourself little ones cause buddy didn't do it :)
The tests are based EXACTLY off the homework questions. Just study the homework (based directly off the learning objectives) and you'll be good. He explains things kind of weird sometimes and talks fast which can be confusing especially if you already struggle with A&P. Attendance is a grade.
The weekly quiz questions are the question banks for the exam, so you really just need to memorize the answers to do well on the exams. Attendance is mandatory and a grade but it is a qr code so do with that what you will. Also the weekly quizzes have unlimited attempts and take the highest grade.
I'm disappointed with the grading process after the final exam. Despite studying hard all semester and earning a 76 after the final, my grade was adjusted down to 73 without a clear explanation. This feels unfair and dismissive of my efforts. I hope future grading is more transparent and values students' hard work.
Those curves on each exam saved my grade every time. For the exams, study the homeworks over and over again until you know each question and answer choice. Make sure to attend lecture since it's mandatory. And do the course eval the end because that's more points that can be added to your final grade. All in all, just study hard for each exam.
The slides contained a lot of information, so I recommend using the learning objectives to break it down. A better option is to use the practice quizzes (not for a grade) and weekly quizzes because those are the questions he uses on the exams. Take them as many times as you can to study all the possible questions that could come up. Goodluck!
don't know why he has such bad reviews. his presentations had a lot of information in it and he went really fast during class, but he wasn't a bad lecturer. he was very smart and would answer any question. the exams were very easy, just study the weekly quizzes and you'll be fine. attendance isn't mandatory but i forced myself to go lol
Professor Henry's class is extremely easy, if you want to make a good grade I would recommend. His downfall is his homework has lots of errors and I am not sure he knows how to use canvas well.
Had a condescending tone when students ask for clarification, would not take again or recommend him for any reason, could've improved by being more patient and more willing to help students individually, never offered any extra credit or opportunities to bring up a grade that needed to be reviewed
I think most of these reviews are bad because his lectures are boring(struggled to stay awake), but I agree with another user saying that he adds a lot of info on the powerpoints. I have also noticed he might not be that tech savvy. Sometimes, the information on the powerpoint is not correct on the homework, and there are many spelling errors.
He wasn't a bad professor, but many times it would be difficult to learn from the lectures because it was really boring. some NOT ALL TA's were a little weird and passive aggressive and wouldn't help that much with questions, I had to go to another TA to get more help. Overall it is not a bad class but you DO have to work for a good grade.
he was an ok professor, not the best but not the worst i had. he would have some sassy/attitude tones when students would ask questions. would strongly recommend studying your homework quizzes since he would use those questions in exams. lecture slides very clamped up with info, he wasn't a good tech guy.
at first he was very difficult to try and understand when teaching. i felt as if he would go too fast and i honestly had to re-teach myself at home due to the fast paced and packed slides of information. HOWEVER, do the practice homework's and regular ones MULTIPLE times if lost on something, it genuinely helps and is sometimes on the actual test!
Just reads off the slides and doesn't really teach. Doesn't answer questions very well and just tells you to look at your notes. Use the homeworks as practice for the exams. If you can take this class with another professor go ahead and do that. Would not recommend this professor for any class.
Don't take this professor for any class. Doesn't really answer questions and gets annoyed if he deems a question to be unintelligent. He does add lots of points to exams in order to raise the class average because of how bad the grades are.
