He is kind of tough. Just pay attenion and take notes.
This guy is great. He's interesting and he's easy. EASY!!!
Timothy Hoare is a very interesting proffesor, and the class is constantly focused on the lecture.
Excellent instructor. Makes you think about the history of mankind in a more emotional way.
run this guy is a jerk
Timothy Hoare benefits from teaching about god/God. He's obviously excited and interested in his material, and manages to get his students in the same mindset. He doesn't loose focus, manages to be funny, and he makes for great post-class impressions.
Mr. Hoare is okay. I definetly don't think he was the best teacher..but I got an A in the class so I can't complain. He isn't very approachable though for asking questions. He's worth checking out.
Not a bad teacher. U an stil push thru if you take notes and attend all class sessions! :)
As long as you show up and pay attention to the lecture, this class is EASY! He even reviews the test mateial right before the test, at least in the night course. He's pretty funny too.
attendance policy is crap! Don't really need to take notes in class to get an A. Too easy!
I was very excited to take this class and ended up not learning anything because he made it way too confusing. He didn't explain things and was very unclear on most subjects. He is very passionate about religion, but needs to realize that students to not know as much as he does about religion.
hoare's so easy, all u have to do is show up and listen, he review everything the day before the tests, i never once opened up my book and i got an A in the class...and he lets u miss like 5 times without question, and u can make-up anything u missed!
Great Class! Very interesting and fun to take. Hoare is a great professor who loves teaching about religion. If you pay attention in class you will have no problems with the test. Good videos break up the lectures. Very funny guy!
He is a bit too easy, The only problem he has is that he has easy as hell tests. I say if your gpa is slipping, then take his class, otherwise it's just a fun class and he's a outgoing teacher who keeps everyone's intrest.
not bad at all.
Awesome class! Easy if you listen and take notes. Prof. Hoare makes class interesting and fun. Loves what he teaches and it shows. You'll enjoy the class!
The way his tests are structured made the class easy to pass. He is very animated in his lectures.
This guy is retarded. His teaching techniques are ridiculous. I mean, not all of us have phD's in humanities. He is way to confusing and his grading policies are a joke. Do not take this class with him. So many people are probably failing this class because he is a horrible professor. Stay away from him. Everyone can do better.
I have had him for two classes. Very easy, but very rewarding. Lectures are fun and you don't have to stress out about tests. IF you don't pass his class with an A you are either dead or in a coma!!!!!
very easy. kind of boring and expects everyone to be interested in the material, but overall good teacher.
I can't understand how anyone could give this teacher a poor rating. He is very good and if you pay attention it's an easy A. In my class there were lots of people doing homework from other classes or talking all through class. Those must be the people giving a poor rating. He lets you print out his notes and forms tests from them.
Easy class. Print off the internet sheets and take good notes during the review and you'll do well.
It's easy if you pay attention and take notes. I would get distracted by his mime actions alot. But all in all a good teacher!
This class was easy! All you have to do is listen. Before you get a quiz or test he reviews, just write down his reviews and you will pass for sure. If you don't like taking notes, at least copy down the review. He's very clear, and actually made the class interesting.
I was a little unsure of this class at first, but it quickly became one I really enjoyed. Tim is an excellent professor once you get him figured out. Show up for class & take through notes because a lot of it pops up on the test. He has good reviews and while tests include an essay ? you have plenty of time to prepare your answer. Great teacher!
Nice professor, i like the way he made class involved with his lecture. I liked the relious tolerance and respects he has for all the culture, people, relgion, and so forth. Very liberal guy.
Good teacher, but hard to understand sometimes. Tests are easy if you study his guide and come to the review day. Only one paper, which is nice.
Nice enough guy. Not very easy to understand, but then again, Asian culture can be hard to understand anyway. One paper that isn't too hard. Essay on the test isn't bad if you study.
VERY EASY CLASS! Exams have essays, but you are allowed to bring in a cheat sheet for the essay. I study 1 hour before the exam and I have received A's on every test. If you come to class, pay attention, and study before the exam...you will do fine!
Professor Hoare is really animated. He's a funny guy and a great professor. This class is fairly easy if you just pay attention, take decent notes, and show up for the exam reviews. I had him for exploring world rel. & rel of the east. Both interesting & enjoyable classes.
Very easy. Interesting. You need to go to class.
He definitely knows his material. His tests aren't too difficult as he goes over the study guide in class with you. a number of the test questions come from quizzes so those are easy points. some opportunities for extra credit should you need it. overall a good teacher. a bit unapproachable, but good nonetheless
nice guy, funny. i took religions of the east and it was somewhat hard, but as long as you study you should be able to do well.
Teaches totally to powerpoint, but loves his subject, and explains it well. Take him if you can.
Funny guy who has done a lot in his life and is very interesting. Easy class if you attend and take notes. Dont need the book if you print off his study guides!
Traditional, lecture-and-notes oriented professor. Did you know he's a doctor? (He's not pretentious). Fair grader, clear and helpful. Would recommend. Interesting class, relaxed atmosphere. If you do the work you'll have no problem getting a good grade.
Took for Eastern Civ, very animated and open to thoughts and suggestions. Take him if you can.
Excellent professor, goes out of his way to help students and accepted late work. He teaches passionately, if you listen and take some notes you'll do just fine.
He is honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. The only bad thing is he teaches from ppt. His class is SUPER easy, and he gives you the essay questions before the test AND you go over them as a class before. Very enthusiastic and brilliant. Gives you all the info and you dont really have to read the book. TAKE.HIS.CLASS!!!
Okay this guy talks really fast but he is an amazing teacher! A very interesting character, full of personality and wisdom. You don't really use the textbook much and he teaches off PP. As long as you truly sit and listen to him and take good notes, you'll be fine! PS: He once used to be a professional mime!
Took intro to humanities with him. Great class, pretty easy. All the quizzes were online, and all the quizzes were based on lecture notes. Attendence is a must, but class can be fairly entertaining. No final, just 4 unit tests. Must study for an A but he reviews with class before every test. One paper but it was cake. Definitely take his class!
Great Professor! Dr. Hoare is interesting and entertaining. Come to class, take good notes, study and you'll do fine in this class. There is also a visitation paper to write. I learned a lot and appreciate that he did not push his belief on the class. He was very general in teaching the material. Would definitely take another class from him.
Dr. Hoare is so HOT! I would recommend him. He can be a little boring at times but is helpful and it's a pretty easy class if you study.
Into to hum was pretty easy. Class is kinda boring, but Hoare tries to make it fun with the duller topics. 4 tests, 11 online quizs(really easy), 2 papers to write(pretty much completion). I would take him again.
This is my 2nd time to take his class. very easy and helpful. He can make you have ability to be art-analyst. quiz is based on note. he may reopen online quiz again. He has great guitar skill! highly recommended~
Lectures from a powerpoint that can be accessed later online, so notes aren't strictly necessary(I took Eastern Civ, but as far is I can tell he does his classes the same way). The material covered in the course is very broad, but he does the best he can to give it some sort of depth. Very animated lecturer, and the tests weren't very difficult.
Good teacher, knows the subject well. He made the class interesting. Tests aren't too hard and he always does review the class before the test. I would definitely reccomend him.
He does perfect job on lecture and reviewing exam. The quiz is as easy as everyone can get 100%. It's better to briefly prepare essay questions so u wont freak out on the exam. only 1 paper, 3 exams, several online quiz. he also gives lots of extra credits! Easy A to reach!!
Great teacher. Loves what he teaches, and very knowledgable! If you follow the study guides available online, you'll do fine on tests!
Dr. Hoare really knows his stuff, but is very basic in his approach to teaching, which makes this class really fun. He is always entertaining and acting a little off the wall. I loved going to class. EASY A
He's very goofy and is very interested in his subject. It was really easy class, homework wasn't that difficult. He was nice enough to post the powerpoint online. Gave many many hints on what would be on the test. Gave extra credit opportunities too. I'm taking him again next semester. Very awesome class!
Dr. Hoare's class is easy. All you have to do is show up and listen.
He is a very chill, laid-back, easy-going professor and his class is pretty easy to pass. You would basically have to try to fail this class. There are online quizzes about every 2 weeks and he posts his power points online. He gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities and his tests are pretty easy. I would definitely recommend him for anyone..
Easy class. Takes attendance but doesn't really effect grade. Tests and quizzes are really easy.
Humanities and Ethics are two classes that I dreaded taking. I still do not like ethics; however,Professor Hoare makes this class interesting. I would take this class again as long as he was the professor. He is awesome.
Dr. Hoare is a fantastic teacher. He really cares about the subject he is teaching and you can really tell by how excited he gets in class. The class can be difficult at times but as long as you remember to take the online quizzes and don't forget about the term paper, you will do fine.
Dr. Hoare is a ton of fun! He is really passionate about the subject and enjoys making class fun for his students. It didn't seem like we used the book that much but there are online quizzes and a term paper. I really enjoyed his class and took two more classes with him.
AMAZING GUY
I've never seen such an awesome lecture like him!
Read the textbook, print the powerpoints if they are avialable, show up to class and take notes and you will recieve an A. One paper, don't leave it for last minute. Overall good professor he knows his stuff about religion.
Awesome professor! Easy A if you pay attention to class. A couple online quizzes, two papers (if you make it interesting, you'll get a good score), and four tests which he takes a few days to review for each. Very helpful teacher if you ask questions and participate. I only used the book when I was working on my papers.
I didn't like his way of teaching at all. I felt he as very confusing. He does give extra credit. Do it you will need it. Hes goofy and gets off task easy. He is, however, very smart and knows his stuff. Maybe a better teacher in other courses, but not for Humanities. If you aren't interested in humanities pick a different teacher.
This class was great. I was dreading this class before it started, but Dr. Hoare keeps the class very interesting. He seems to have a great passion for what he teaches. He gives access to study guides and if you look at his power points than it is an easy A on the tests. He is very clear on what is expected, and easy to talk to when needed.
2 papers. Review days are super helpful. The notes are also online. He also has a quirky sense of humor that made the class a little fun.
One of the best professors, absolutely hilarious in his own way. Yes, he does get of topic some but it's relevant somewhat and he brings in lots of quirky things to look at that relate to the class. He is a good grader, he wants to know that YOU know and understand the material in detail. Tests are 50-70 multiple choice question, 12 short answer.
He is one of the few teachers who give out extra credit, which is how i ended up with an A! 25 points for attendance, 4 unit exams and no cumulative final. Exams are easy if you study, 2 essay questions and 50+ mc questions on each exam. Take notes during lecture and you will end up with an A! Also 10 quizzes online and 1 assigned paper. Easy A!
He is hilarious and has interesting lectures. Make sure you're really careful to pay attention to and remember when online assignments and quizzes are due. Many times he has papers due at 11:00 pm on Fridays, which is always really hard to remember. Also, don't bother buying the textbook. We never used it.
I had no interest in this class but ended up being one of my favorite classes I've taken. Dr. Hoare keeps the info in his lectures short and to the point. He gives all the essay questions to all the tests at the beginning of the year. He really tries to relate the material to more than just art majors. Also an extremely nice and approachable guy!
He made the class interesting. I do not like the arts, but after taking this class I have a new respect and knowledge about art! The only bad part is two 3 page essays over an art piece. Not hard to do but just busy work you don't want to do. Final was the 4th exam- not cumulative. Stay for review days, they are VERY helpful!! Didn't use textbook.
Quirky, definitely wants a lively class. Go in-depth in the essays and write a lot on that portion of the test and he'll be happy. Study the material (it's not hard for an intro class) and you'll be fine. Mostly just put in some effort.
This was a very interesting class. There is only one paper, and you have to visit someplace of your choosing and do a report on it and integrate what you have learned into the paper when written. The tests are fairly easy if you go to the review days. The questions are straight from the power point slides which he also posts online.
I really enjoyed having his class. He loves what he teaches. He is very entertaining and lively. I recommend to anyone who enjoys this subject.
Super fun and passionate professor! Gets you interested in art even if you aren't an art major. Does take attendance, if you miss too many classes he will take points off. Taking notes in class isn't mandatory because he puts all of his power points online. Quizzes are online. Hardest part of the class is the two papers you have to write.
Very quirky professor, funny in his own way! Never bored, easy tests, and textbook was unnecessary
The professor allowed for easy extra credit. His online quizzes are extremely easy.
Mr. Hoare was a really nice person, but his lectures seemed to drag on forever. Overall it wasn't a bad class. Just write down good information and be ready to memorize the night before the test. Also, his online quizzes are extremely easy and you have multiple tries. And honestly you don't even need to buy a book because you'll never need it.
Professor Hoare is a good professor at JCCC. He makes introduction to humanities a fun and interesting test. I would reccomend taking his introduction to humanities class.
Dr. Hoare is an awesome professor! He love what he teaching and love his students. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. You will learn a lot from his class! Strongly recommend!
Professor Hoare was amazing! He has great communication with his students, even teaching from off campus. He is there to help and truly cares. It was great to be in his class and I would be happy to have another class with him! He was clear and thoughtful in all of his assignments.
The teacher was okay. He was average. There were only discussions and quizzes every week. They are somewhat easy. You need to watch the lecture video. He does respond to emails. This is a somewhat easy class if you need an easy elective.
Dr. Hoare is an amazing professor. Though he is teaching from across the world, he is very easy to work with. Easy points: weekly quizzes and discussion and 4 easy exams. Lecture videos are long, but you can easily skip through some parts. Detail counts! But don't be too detailed. Responds to emails as soon as he can, and grades assignments quick
Tim is a fantastic professor. He provides you with all the material necessary to succeed in his course. He is incredibly knowledgable and has even lived in his region of study. He is fair and so detailed in his power points and feedback, as well as well-timed in his grading (no longer than 24 hours). 10/10 professor, could not recommend more.
