Tim is the bomb. He is great at explaining everything and is always open to questions. Homework every Monday. He cares about his students but he does teach 430 students in one lecture hall at once. You have to go to him if you need anything.
My time in Tim's class has been hard at times but nevertheless I have found there to bee ample resources to encourage me to succeed.
Liwosz is a good lecturer, and he really knows his stuff. He does his best to explain things well and to answer questions, all while managing a class of over 400 students. He also does many practice problems in class. Homework is online. Lectures can be a bit dry at times, but they are overall good.
This class is especially easy if you were good at AP Chemistry in high school. I barely went to lecture the second half of the semester and I was fine. The professor is great, he answers a lot of questions in the large lecture and the grading for everything is usually fair if you remember significant figures.
I think he was an amazing teacher. At times he could speak fast, but generally enthusiastic and easy to comprehend. He is really relaxed but also focused, and most of the kids seem to like him. I have been able to reach out to him a couple of times and he responded quickly. Overall, good teacher and person.
I could barely hear him most of the time because his voice was way too monotone for me to understand anything. I know I'm not alone because another student complained to me about the same thing. He's OK when he solves examples because I can see what he's talking about, and he always answers students after class. Grading was handled by someone else.
While I liked Dr. Liwosz, he had a tough time making the lectures enjoyable. He very rarely made a joke, or talked about anything other than the material. While I do appreciate his dedication to the subject matter, I found myself getting bored in his lectures, as it was the same thing every day.
The tests can be hard but as long as you put the work in you'll do fine and they always give last years tests to study from. Weekly online homework can be challenging but overall isn't bad. He's a great professor and tries to help us out as much as he can.
He is good and he understands. He is always available. Go to him during his office hours. He will make sure he answers your questions until you understand. Put some effort into the class. Do lab homework - it is very very important than the homework. Lowest two homework assignments are dropped.
Chem 107 is a hard class. he is very good at giving the information. also very sweet when you have one to one with him for extra help. for someone Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and coming to teach General Chemistry for Engineers for the first time in a room full 400 students, I would say he did a wonderful job.
He is a good lecturer. Always available for questions. He explains his thought process while working problems very clearly and goes at a decent pace. Make sure to pay attention. The class has weekly homeworks as well as a weekly lab/recitation quiz.
Was easy to understand, answered questions no matter how awful they were and was very approachable. He didn't post the slides until after he went through them in class. Get as many practice tests possible from your TA's because they're exactly like the real exams and he often uses old questions. Don't wait until the last minute for the homework.
Dr. Liwosz is a great professor. His lectures are clear and he is very caring. He will always answer your questions and he obviously loves what he does. Show up to class, participate, and do your homework. My midterm grade is a B, before the curve, and I am expecting a B+ or A- by the end of the course. HOWEVER THE LAB WITH THIS COURSE IS MISERABLE
He does a good job at explaining subjects and is very helpful. Show up and do usual studying and its easy.
He was a good professor, but there was nothing special about the lectures at all. I often dozed off because it was very hard to focus.
Liwosz is a great professor. Classes can be a bit boring sometimes but I mean it is chemistry. Make sure to do the mastering HW and to always go to lab. He drops your 2 lowest HW grades and he takes the average grade for every exam and gives a 'curve'.
Lectures where dry at times. He did work through a large number of example problems with the class, which helped significantly.
Dr. Liwosz is a good professor. He explains things as many times you want until you understand the concept and he helps a lot in his office hours.
Liwosz is a great professor. His lectures are detailed and the guided teaching really helps. He will always answer your questions and he is very open to feedback. His office hours are great.
He is very accessible in office hours. Orgo is a hard course, and while i may not understand everything, when I go to office hours he clearly goes through whatever questions i have; just dont go during exam week cause alot of people show up as well. Note: NSC has bad microphones so sit in front of the class
Very hard to understand what he talks about in lecture and need to put lots of hard work outside of classroom.
He is a good professor but doesnt really have that much of a personality, explains most things clearly but there are a couple things that youll have to look up on your own. Homeworks and in class questions help with the tests. Overall a pretty good guy.
He's not a good professor, don't take his class, he doesn't explain anything, and he thinks we are running out of time, 3 weeks prior to each exam.
He goes through example problems in lectures. Encourage students to ask questions in class. Overall pretty good.
Topics are gone through relatively quickly, he does a few problems however certain procedures arent very clear. I would like to believe he tries him best however I have to pay keen attention to grasp information from the lectures.
Tim is a lax god, but CHEM 107 with 400 kids is just hard, I hate chem. 25 multiple choice tests with an average grade around 50 sounds easy, until you get a 28.
Professor Liwosz knows what he is talking about. he does his best to explain the material to a class of 400 students. I found the class to be somewhat difficult. If you put in the work then its an easy A course. Dont expect to get an A by sitting around doing nothing and then studying the night before.
Timothy is a good guy. Mainly just reads off slides and will answer questions as they come. Attendance is not mandatory but definitely don't fall behind. Better than Clizbe, but Riaz might be the best choice because he/she provides you with lots of practice questions. Liwosz wants you to succeed but lectures are a little dry.
Dr. Liwosz is a great Professor! He cares for his students and is always available any time by appointment/office hours. He will make sure you receive a good grade. He does examples on the board, so go to class! Attendance is taken on tophat. He knows if you're not there. Very heavy workload, but if you do the work, and study hard you'll pass.
Don't buy the textbook. Prof basically reads off slides but does go through a few examples in class, so if you don't show up to class its not a big deal. Attendance is taken through tophat. Hw is much more difficult than the tests. There's two 25 mc tests and a 45 mc final. For fall 2018, a 75 was enough for an A and a 62 was enough for a B.
Slides were basically from the textbook, but you still had to read the textbook to understand anything. Lectures were dry, and he is very strict with regrading exams. Isn't very approachable either. The only reason I did well in this course was because of Dr. Riaz and her review packets and review sessions.
Lectures were okay but I didn't miss out on much by skipping (except my participation grade ;) Study hard for the exams. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! Liwowz is fine but you'll have to put in the work. Don't be lazy. It's your grade. Good luck Charlie
Easy to understand, good lectures, fair class.
Took Tim for CHE 107, Gen Chem for Engineers. Overall, I really enjoyed his class and looked forward to attending class everyday. Although he did go fast at times, a quick glance at the textbook would help me to understand it. Class is very similar to AP Chemistry. Overall would recommend Tim for Chemistry. Will help outside of class when you need.
So I basically never listened in class(ONLY ATTENDED CLASS FOR TOP HAT PARTICPATION POINTS)all I did was the past years uploaded online. I did it about 10 times before going for exams and these questions end up being about 80% similar. Got an A(92%) without studying that hard. But on the other hand make sure you complete your masterring and lab
Clearly his first time teaching orgo 1. Smart guy but due to his lack of experience teaching the subject, he didn't understand what students had difficulty understanding and rarely ever went over exam related questions. For the few questions he did cover, he was excellent so I would expect him to be a solid choice in his second time teaching it.
Dr. Liwosz definitely knows the material he is teaching. However, I sometimes found it hard to pick out what we had to know for the exams, and what was just extra information. Exams 1 and 2 were a piece of cake, but exams 3 and the final were very difficult. Still came out with an A-, but that's mostly due to Riaz's review material.
His class is very clearly catered towards non chem majors. Topics are clearly defined and he gives quizzes in recitation that help you prepare for big exams. He uses tophat, which is a nice grade boost. Tests are based on ability not memorization. He gives you the textbook on tophat but it is not necessary.
Definitely knows the material well but fails to make sure the class understands the topic before moving on. Goes through the material very fast and explains certain topics as if the class somehow already knows what he's talking before he teaches it. Notes were pretty much copy and pasted from the textbook. I regret not taking Gulde.
A solid professor, sometimes the way he teaches can make you fall asleep but like you have to pay attention in class, since some of the topics can be confusing.
He speaks too low. He goes too fast. It seems more like a review of chem than me actually taking the class for the first time. For someone who has little chem background, this will be extremely tough class for you.
He is amazing. He cares about his students. His lecture is very good and he helps outside of class.
A very good professor. Very friendly and easy to approach with questions. His lectures are very easy to understand and the homeworks/quizzes/tests are all very fair. I plan to take future classes with this professor whenever possible.
He wasnt my professor but I attended his lectures because he broke down and explained the material better.
Tim is a good professor. He teaches the materials very well. It is very surprising he is able to teach the class well to 400 students. In the middle of the class, sometimes he takes a five-minute break and tells about his personal life. He used to go to RIT to play lacrosse for their team.
Overall, a good guy and a good professor, however the course is very difficult for someone who only took regents chem is high school. He often breezes through material that I had never learned before and takes his time on subjects that maybe don't need that much time. Often times I felt the lecture notes didn't match up well with the homework.
I had Liwosz for Orgo 1. It's a difficult class if you don't keep up with the chapters, but he's good and breaking things down and explaining especially if you go to his office hours. I heard from a lot of people to take Clizbe, but I'm glad I ended up with Liwosz. Wasn't my favorite class but if you have to take it I'd recommend him for sure
Liwotz is purely passionate professor that ever teaching this class. His lecture reflects that. His test can be difficult and it hard to get a good grade, ie 75-80 on the exams. He prepped for all the exams very well. This class is an easy A or B if you attend all of his lectures. Better than most Chem professors.
Liwosz is one of best Professor in Chemistry department. You can tell based on his lectures. Top Hat question is a bonus for everyone and is the only one that boost your grade alongside online hw. Even the test are superhard he praperes everyone well for those tests
I hate when some raters claimed that he is a dry, and dont teach the class very well. Tim is one of the most passionate professor that ever teaching our class. His lectures reflects that. If you dont care about engineering, dont take his class.
Tbh I had a great semester as a Chem Engineering major thanks to the CHE 107 class. The concepts in the exam can be forky sometimes but it is doable because he gives a recitation quizzes to prepare you well for the exam. He is available for questions in office hours if needed
This is not advanced Chemistry because we are in Engineering majors, this is lower level Chemistry for engineers. This class is an easy A if you pay attention and attend office hours to understand hw. The tests are similar to hw basically. Bad raters dont show in his class and refuse to care about this class.
Take his class if you actually want to pass Chemistry with an flying color. He is very passionate about teaching this class, and explains the concepts very clearly. I was horrible at Chem in high school, but taking with him help me a lot to get an A- as I can understand very clearly bc of the way he teach the class
At the beginning I was struggling with the concepts because I have poor background in Algebra and Chemistry. As the time goes, I understood the class well it is because of top hat that is use by professors often, and I save those top hat participation questions in order to study for the test which turns out to be similar to the exams
I had him last year for Che 107. He is an amazing lecturer and taught the class very well to 200 students. He is very understanding, as he know that students are human and they came here to learn. He tends to curve the course at the end of the semester in case anyone do poorly on the tests or quizzes.
I had Tim last year. As I can say, he is a very interesting lecturer, and cares deeply about what he is teaching. He helped me a lot when I went to office hour, if not he helped me more than my TA. percent recommend him to take his class if you have not yet.
Tim is the best. The reason why people thinks that his lecture is dry and boring because he was teaching 450 students same time. He is always available for questions during office hour as long as you dont go during exam week. I know lot of people shows up during exam week, so dont recommend anyone to wait until exam week if you have any questions
Timothy is one of the best professors in UB. He taught the material very clearly and cares about what we learn in his class. He gives quizzes in order to prepare us for big exams and finals.
Liwosz is hands down one of the best Chemistry professor I ever had. His charismatic attitude will make you love Chemistry a lot. Take Liwosz over another professor
Took 107 in Fall 2019, the class was graded on 2 exams, some homework, and some quizzes. Attendance wasn't mandatory however I'd recommend going (my classes weren't recorded, and the class material is pretty tricky.) He's very approachable and makes sure you understand the material. The grade for an A was dropped down to 75% this year.
As others being said he is very lenient, and is willing to curve grades down to 70 for an A. However, you will see that the materials are extremely difficult as it is math intensive. But the curve rounds down the grade if you just aiming for pass & do average or poorly on class. However he is approachable & willing to answer ur questions in class
U will pass with flying color if u have prior knowledge about calculus. I think Mth 141 and Eng 105 should be prerequisite for this Gen Chem bc we are require to use derivatives in class problems and exams. Btw too much writing involved in Chem lab. Tim is great at explaining concepts in lectures which made lab way easier than what it needs to be
Tim is one of the best professors I ever had in UB. He is always there to help you. Btw his test are fair and is 10x easier than the hw, and class quizzes. Tim is the goat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Liwosz was okay. Very monotone, and sometimes didnt seem to want to fully explain concepts in his lectures. I will admit he was decently helpful during his office hours, and honesty the course itself was the worst part. Id take him again, simply because there are no better options.
I took CHE107 with Tim as a first semester freshman along with most of incoming engineers. Overall, thought the class was easy and for the first 7 weeks, a review of high school chemistry. Tim was a good professor, as he knew what he was talking about and easy to understand. Powerpoints could've been better but nobody is perfect.
Prof. Liwosz was a pretty good lecturer. The lectures were boring imo, but he spoke clearly and paused for questions frequently. We did lots of review before each exam. All in all, a pretty good experience. There is just a lot of material to know so expect to work a lot on your own.
He's a very good professor overall. Gives really good lectures, flexible with homework deadlines and also accessible outside of class if you have any question. He replies to emails insanely quick, which is very appreciated and if you do all the home work and score around the average grade on exams you'll get a good grade.
Hands down the best orgo prof at UB, knows the material super well and explains it in a way that makes sense. Yeah orgo is hard but liwosz makes it understandable. Lowkey hilarious too. People say he doesnt do that many practice problems but that is a fat lie, he does lots of questions, and always leaves like the week before a test open to review
Tim is a good professor. His exam his exactly similar to the practice exam. I did not have to study this class that hard and still able to get A-. I didn't have any prior knowledge about Chemistry.
Goes over practice problems in class. Practice tests available and should be used because the tests are pretty similar to them in terms of difficulty and concepts covered so make sure you understand how to answer all the practice questions and HW. Reference textbook if confused and/or ask for help.
Maybe he is a good teacher when teaching gen chem or even orgo 1. But for Orgo 2, he really sucks. He doesn't properly prepare you for the exam. He's one of those professors that asks questions on things he barely explained in lecture. At least Clizbe does an exam review and gives practice problems before the exam, he does nothing.
This is a class where if you actually read the textbook you're fine. His lectures are straight to the punch, and that's it. Everything is on the test. He's nice, but not so much caring if you need a helping hand. Not particularly passionate about what he teaches, I mean it's chem 1, but he just wants to get through the syllabus.
Gen Chem is quite tough, but Liwosz made it easy by being very concise and specific on what you need to know. He's very good at explaining things. There is a lot of mastering assignments for his class, but they help with exams.
He is a decent guy and decent professor. I highly recommend anyone for Che 107.
He is not bad, but I feel like just because this was CHE107 and not CHE101 he did not bother being very descriptive when it came to lectures, some of the concepts are hard to understand and he just made it more complicated and skims over it when he should have spent more time. Sometimes random concepts show up on the exam, maybe like 1-3 questions.
CHE107 was asynchronous during the fall semester. Liwosz's lectures were direct with little fluff. He's an interesting and helpful person to talk to outside of class and about course material. Mastering HW is tedious. Responds to emails very quickly. Make sure you complete past posted exams. Some exam questions were quite difficult but answerable.
Tims lectures are so useless, he goes over very conceptual parts of chemistry then proceeds to quiz only on calculations. In lecture he often will go over a very easy calculation example without explaining it well or he will skip an example entirely. Tim has done the bare minimum this semester to be helpful during the pandemic and virtual school.
He gives tests without going over it. I have tried problems from the class lectures and mastering chem. He speeds through lessons and doesn't respond to some emails. He tried to give us a test before we even finished the content. He is ridiculous and there's no partial credit for doing the work right because he doesn't accept written solutions.
Hes very caring about his students and will make sure you pass as long as you do your part.
(Took in Fall 2018) Liwosz isn't that bad of a professor, but he very much expects you to learn from textbook only and hw. The lectures were very boring and he speeds through them. His examples are also extremely vague. Only reason for actually going to class felt like it was for attendance grade. Test avgs were around mid-50s.
He's more than understanding, tech savvy, responsive, and his lectures are well-organized and concise! No complaints!
Professor Liwosz was a fun guy I guess, had some problems due to being in a new room and the internet kept going out. But dudes lectures were terrible. Got myself an A by teaching myself Gen Chem 1 off of YouTube. Textbook for this year blows.
I took this class in fall 2021, and it was fine, but I wouldn't take it again. He records the lectures so if you have the 8 am class you're fine. One thing that was annoying was his computer kept freezing and crashing constantly and the class was boring overall. The quizzes were open book and if you study the lec slides and hw you'll pass.
Timothy is pretty good. His exams were not bad if you review practice exams prior to the exams. He also reuses practice exams problems on the actual exams, and even give a outline of what will be covered on the exams.
Dr. Liwosz is very smart, but he isnt the best professor, I had a super hard time following his lectures, you definitely will not be prepared for the tests even if you think you are. Other than that the quizzes and homework are fine. The exams are just horrible.
Amazing professor! Very caring about his students and somewhat lenient with deadlines if you ask for an extension.
His lectures consist of going over slides and reviewing for quizzes/exams the lecture before. Can be quite hard to follow if you haven't taken any sort of chemistry before in high school but gets the job done. MAKE SURE you review the old exams he posts online since some questions might be similar/the same to the questions you'll find on your exams
No engineer wants to take chem but its very manageable with liwosz. He explains things well, put in the effort and you'll get the grade you want.
His lectures are incredibly boring; he rushes through them and is extremely vague. The other profs will put out study guides before each exam; Liwosz only does practice problems in the class before the test. He also relies on students to ask these review questions which can be intimidating in a 400-person lecture hall. Go with Gulde instead.
ok professor, just there to relay the information. homework is online and theres no makeups or extensions. syllabus is clear and they stick to it in the chem department
The professor is nice and creates a good learning environment for the students. The course itself is hard but the professor does his best in teaching the class and provides examples on the topics.
He is ok, lectures are kind of boring, sometimes it is hard to get along. Can not blame him on the exams and final curve because he is not the one who works on it. Last year's curve was great, however, this year is pretty tough, I just don't know why. Course's average is a C.
He goated. Axe him a question n he gon answer it
Tim is the best. In a 400 person lecture hall, he will stop to answer any question. Since he teaches such a big class, it can feel a little disconnected but he does care.
Go to his office hours and you will do great in the class. He teaches very well and is better than the other Chemistry professors for 107. He also teaches Organic Chemistry and is a well known and well respected Professor there. Do the homework and you won't have much trouble understanding the topics. Be aware that the tests are hard so study!
Very good professor. His class is relatively easy if you make it to lectures and take notes. Do the homeworks because they are easy points towards your final grade, and will help prepare you for the tests. Quizzes are online and open note
Definitely, the easiest class that I take in engineering school and the most easiest prof.
The homework is hard, and the only way I was able to finish it was with the help of an AA. but I do recommend doing it. it is good practice and I would not have passed if I did not do the homework. During lectures, he makes sure you understand and does problems on the board. he has consistent office hours that can be a little crowded sometimes.
Liwosz is alright for organic. He knows the material well and is always willing to help students. I enjoyed his lectures for general chemistry, but his organic lectures were slow and boring. He was accessible outside of class and did his best to present the material in an understandable way. He did tend to read off the slides verbatim.
Liwosz was the best for CHE107. He always was clear in lecture about the material and knows what he is talking about. I went to him outside of class a few times and he was super helpful there too. Also answers emails fast and always willing to help you do great. Took him again for organic chem this semester we will see how it is
Awesome straight to the point dude. Syllabus is cold cut very clear. Awesome lectures where he put emotion into his teaching and broke things down to where everyone was able to understand it. Overall just a cool dude. Bills fan.
Mid prof. Orgo is just an insane course no matter who you take, but he's def not the worst. All you can do for the final is pray. You basically have to teach yourself everything so get ready to spend a lot of time learning what is going on in lecture.
Not a bad professor, he just sometimes has a tendency to explain things as though the whole room has a PhD in Chem, which often leaves you to self teach some concepts he covered in lecture if you didn't understand him. Best advice is to put a ton of effort into the two midterms because it can be easy to screw them up and lose a lot of points.
CHE 107 is a difficult course itself, but Liwosz did an ok job during lectures going over the notes. He basically reads off the prepared slides but is open to questions in class. He seems like he does care how his students do. Study a lot for the in-class exams that way it's easier for you when it comes to the final. HW assignments aren't too bad.
Dr. Liwosz was the best organic chemistry professor. His notes were clear and easy to understand, his lectures were nice to listen to. He is also VERY friendly, every time you come up to him he greets you with a smile. He is also very understanding regarding regrades because the TAs would never give partial credit. I would 100% take him again
Best professor for 107. Great lecturer as he asks a lot of questions to keep his students engaged. Always available during office hours and is willing to help students understand the material. syllabus is very clear and its not hard to get A's and B's in his class as long as you're willing to do your part.
Dr. Liwosz is a good professor. Makes the content very clear. Strict grader.
Yeah, you can't just show up to lecture and expect a passing grade (I did that and got one, but you'll have to cram a good amount for the final). He flies through material, don't just write everything down, write down practice questions and key definitions. Do the homeworks. Only 2 midterms and a final, little quizzes barely help so study up.
Orgo chem is a very hard course and you have to put in a lot of work to do well in it, regardless of your prof. With that being said, I didn't like Liwosz and he seemed to have no idea what he was talking about 50% of the time. Good luck getting any beneficial help from him or the TAs. He did not make the exams but beware they are very difficult.
He did a good job teaching a fairly difficult class. He wants to help you succeed, and should you ask him, he will spend time to make sure you understand the material. Lecture material is difficult but he explains it as clearly as able. Because it's chemistry though, you need to put in the work, since getting a good grade isn't free in this class.
Best chemistry teacher, he has the best lecture slides to take notes on as well as lots and lots of practice. This class is HARD. You should know that going in, and it will take lots of studying to do well. Liwosz makes it very possible and gives you the tools to succeed
Greta professor who makes it as easy to understand as possible, he is very fair and I enjoyed his class.
Dr. Liwosz is the most caring out of the 3 professors for organic chemistry. When you walk up to him he greets you with a smile. He is just warm and welcoming and understanding when it comes to regrades. His lectures are amazing and he explains things well. Dr. Liwosz's lectures help make organic chemistry more understandable. Take him if you can!
Difficult class with very hard content. He is IMO the best available teacher for this class, with great lectures and lots of practice during the lecture. Very easy to reach, and is very helpful at explaining problems. Class has Iclicker attendance, online quizzes, homework, 3 midterms (1 dropped) and a final, so rather test heavy. Requires studying
All of the orgo professors are bad. You're gonna teach yourself most of the material anyways but I would choose Liwosz over the others simply because he is by far the most caring and helpful prof out of all of them. Murkin is best for orgo1, but he unfortunately doesn't teach orgo 2. This class is almost impossible IMO so be ready to struggle.
I love the way he teaches. In a difficult course like organic chemistry, he is definitely the guy to take. He explains concepts thoroughly and will ask questions that make you think back on material. He will connect all the material to give you a deeper understanding of the concepts at hand. Love him!!!
The class is hard and weed-out course for engineering majors. Just do the free stuff (quizzes, homework, and iClicker) thoroughly and you'll pass the course. Also attend recitations since they count towards your grade and the TAs help a lot. Don't fret the class is difficult but get as much points as possible for the free stuff and you are golden.
Organic chemistry is hard, it's a sink-or-swim class that requires a lot of effort, doing poorly in this class is no fault of Prof Liwosz. He's kind and understanding and provides all the lectures and materials you need to succeed. At some points in the course, I don't think he explained things as well as I would want, but overall I recommend him.
great professor
Chill guy that teaches clearly and the quizzes are open notes (online). Overall very easy if you give decent effort.
Great guy, good lecturer, engaging.
Liwosz is a highly understanding and caring professor who makes intro chemistry easy to grasp. With weekly homework, 4 quizzes (3 attempts each), and 3 exams (2 midterms, 1 final) + the exams are basically like the practice tests you get, you can easily earn an A if you put in the effort. I highly recommend taking his class. Great guy, THE GOAT!
Great Professor, awnsers emails almost instantly. LOOK AT THE PRACTICE TESTS
CHE107 is a challenging course, but the professor explains concepts clearly. Attending lectures and recitations is key. Use unstuck ai and the free resources like homework to do well. The class isn't a breeze, but putting in the work pays off.
Great professor but tough course.
Absolutely amazing professor. I was not a fan of chemistry but I really enjoyed his class. He was always willing to talk to you before or after class. Homework once a week with many participation points in class. Tests were hard so be prepared to study. Highly recommend and if I was continuing chemistry I would want him as a professor again.
Great professor! Would definitely recommend him to take again and again. He is the one who help me to get highest grade on this tough course. Attendance is hold on iclicker(its graded). doing the lecture is highly effective to do great in the exams. He also responds emails almost instantly which is very helpful!
Dr. Liwosz is a pretty chill professor, definitely a fun one albeit kind of quiet, but his lectures and homeworks really helped set you up for the exams. It's a tough course yeah but if you work hard you will find a reasonable grade likely.
Really cool guy and was always willing to help students. Sometimes his slides are a bit confusing, but he explains topics clearly. He's also chill and will say hi to you if you become a familiar face. The course itself is harder than CHE101, but it is doable. Best advice: do well on the quizzes and study for exams with the practice exams.
Way too hard for a CHE 102 course, the chemistry department is doing this on purpose for weeding out future doctors for no reason.
My parents are going to disown me after this :(
This course didn't just humble me—it absolutely obliterated my confidence.
horrible :3
Amazing professor recommend him again. PLEASE
I swear the textbook is written in a dialect of English that only the professor understands.
You ever stare at a page for an hour and still have no idea what it says? That's this class.
They said college would be hard, but this course personally attacked me.
I understood about 5% of what happened this semester, and I think that's being generous.
I came, I saw, I failed to understand anything.
The only thing I've learned for sure is that I need therapy.
This course had me Googling 'How to fake your own death and start over.
Every lecture feels like I'm trying to decode an alien language in real time.
This course didn't just humble me—it absolutely obliterated my confidence!!!!
I came in thinking I was smart. Now I just want to cry into my textbook.
I don't recommend anyone to take this course with this PROFESSOR.
Full support saar
I worked really hard, took notes, watched lecture videos, did the homework, did the iclicker. STILL GOT A HORRIBLE GRADE!!
Please curve the final exam, the average was a D....
If she doesnt curve the final exam, im going to be crying for life.
I failed this course, thanks to the chemistry department for being full of sh
This course was really hard but i put all my focus and energy into studying and still got a C-, im really disappointed in myself.
This class was so brutal, the final needs a curve just to bring us back to zero.
The final was so hard, I'm pretty sure even the curve needs a curve.
I studied all week and still walked out of the final confused and slightly traumatized. Curve?
he simplified material, making it possible to grasp concepts. without watching his lectures + using his notes, i would have failed bc my actual prof wasn't good. still an insanely difficult course. this class will have you crying, praying, and begging for forgiveness for the sins of your past life that led you here.
This prof was nice and understanding. He would write on his slides which made it easier to comprehend. The practice exams did NOT look like the actual exam bec they want you to actually understand the material. Would take him again, but need to put in lots of effort.
Coming fresh out of highschool going to his lecture was humbling, could barely even comprehend most of the things he taught in the lecture because he was zooming through most of the stuff. The "practice" exams do not help much. I suggest writing down the difficult questions from the homework for later review it helped me make a comeback in final.
He is a really good proffessor.Just study hard for those exams with the practice test.
Liwosz is a decent professor; there is a curve to the grading scale. Even if you do poorly in exams, you can still pass with homework and open-note quizzes. His lectures are extremely dense (100 slides), as opposed to Professor Li, who condenses his content to 10-30 slides. Try to take Professor Li, but you will not do poorly with Professor Liwosz
Dr Liwosz was a very great professor. However, his slides weren't the most detailed and some things he wouldn't go deep enough into class. Overall he is a great professor though. Definitely do the Practice Exam questions, they pretty much mock the real exams. Will have to do lots of outside work. Heavily recommend Organic Chemistry Tutor on YT.
Loved the lectures
Dr. Liwosz is a very good professor. His lectures were very straightforward, so if you show up and learn, you'll do fine. He's also very flexible, so if you miss something, he'll help you out.
Overall great professor. After almost every slide or topic he stops and asks if anyone had any questions. Also, very approachable in hos office hours. Just study for the tests and do the practice questions and you'll do fine. Would highly recommend.
