do not take this teacher!!!! hard hard hard. Only 10 out of 30 left in class at the end of the semester.
Find another prof, this guy doesn't teach except what is out of the book and his examples are exactly the ones from the book -- so why go to class?! If you can learn the material from tthe book then take him, otherwise... take aprof who teaches the material!
Fails to engage class. Seems a bit disorganized. Instruction is often unclear. Tests are difficult and sometimes slightly inconsistent with the assigned homework.
Not a very good teacher. I was lucky enough to be a quick study in math. The teacher taught straight from the book, and often messed up his own arithmetic. If possible, find a different prof.
Get out if you can, this teacher is very unorganized, gets mad if you don't understand him. Has no lesson plan, does not know how to explain. I was one of 6 left out of a class that started with 40+. You'd be better off teaching yourself and saving the money.
I had Dr. Lo for CAI Algebra. Change professors if you can! He is very unorganized and very unwilling to help you if you do not understand.

Not worth the aggrivation. I had this professor for both Coll ALge CAI and Statistic. Horrible at teaching. Unorganized. I had to withdrawl from STAT b/c he is too unclear on the subject and is not willing to help you. He also gets confused on this subject as he teaches! GET OUT

This professor is from Vietnam and has a thick accent that makes him hard to understant much of the time. He is unorganized. Does not appear to know exactly what he is doing. At times he seems to be flat out wingin it, when it comes to teaching the class.
He's not always easy to understand when describing complex ideas the first time around but works hard to ensure that he's understood. He is usually available for one-on-one help and replies quickly to emailed questions.

His grading system is easy because all it is from is four tests and a final. He is very hard to understand and the entire class he just goes over examples. The only reason that i got an A was because i learned all of this three years ago and all i had to do was reteach myself which i did because even though he tries to be helpful he is not.
I would not wish this professor on my worst enemy! I had to drop because I simply could not get it! He seems to be smart but all smart people are not meant to teach. He has too many things going on in his head and he doesn't know how to communicate that information to his class! NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
He has a temper, and is a horrid teacher, but his tests are easy and he gives you ALOT of room to pass if you study and pass tests.
Bad teacher, but easy to pass. I just basically ignored him through the whole class and did it on my own. He would always come over and try to explain things that I already knew, and i'd just nod my head. Noone in my class failed though. If you just beg a little he'll give in and raise your grade, I went from a B (-) to an A (-) just by asking.

Dr lo is the best math teacher I have never had. I took Ms Lewis and I tell you she is a sad women and want everyone arund her to be sad. so stay away form her class.Dr Lo is the MAN FOR MATH.

I have taken him before and both times I have found him very helpful towards me. I did over hear some students have several problems understanding him, but if you are somewhat ok at math you should be fine.
He is a great teacher. He is very helpful as long as you put in the effort. I would highly recommend him! He has a way of explaining math that you think wow I actually get it. I don't know where the negative comments are coming from because he is very pro student. I hated math before his class and I actually like it now! Great!!!!
He was very sweet and helpful. I would tell anyone to take his class. He did everything in his power to ensure that I passed his class. I am very grateful to him and hope many others will benifit from his dedication to teaching.
I had this teacher for Math 1314. He is a great professor and very helpful. He will allow his students to redo homework grades. I would recommend him.

He was kinda goofy, and I know math pretty well so I can't really judge how well he taught, but he make the work easy. We could redo homework until we made a 100-some of the tests were take home.
Dr. Lo is an amazing teacher. He is always willing to answer questions and help you the best he can. He explains everything very clearly and is also alot of fun! Attendance is not mandatory but will definitely benefit you. His tests are fairly easy as well.
I took Dr. Lo's maymester which was computer instruction. It was really easy and anything I didn't understand Dr. Lo explained really well. He does have an accent, but you can clearly understand him. Make sure to do the work, ask if you have a question and you will love having him for your math teacher.
Useless class. Very unorganized. Cannot teach. He introduced Wiley plus home work. Useless text book. Cannot even self teach with that book. Text is very hard. I do not recommend to take his class. You learn nothing from his class.
I just wrote and I meant I had him for DMAT 96 and now Im in college algebra, and he is just a really great teacher and he really cares about the students that care about their education, and he just does not put up with idiots or with rude people and the people that write crap about him is b/c they didn't try or care about the class! Dr. Lo rocks!

Hard to understand. Took computer class in Spring 2010. In the same class was 98, 99 & college level math students. He did not have a lot of time answer questions due to size of class and multiple types of DMAT and college level courses. Consider myself in the middle as far as my math abilities. Retook w/ Prof. Andrade in Lecture. Was excellent!

I have had him for both 0090 and 0097. If you do not understand math I suggest taking another teacher. When helping he often has to have it his way and other ways are "wrong". Taking this course self pace and on the computer was a horrible idea because it is just more work than needs to be done. I suggest another teacher and class.
Yes, in deed he is a rude teacher. He confuses himself in class and student like me had to correct him in some occasions. If you did good in algebra and trigonometry then his class will be easy since it is mostly review of both subjects. In the other hand, if math isn't your subject do not take him he will confuse you and make you mad.
The first thing you'll learn in his class: do math every day.It is easy to make an A in his class!Just do the homework and don't bomb tests.I hired a tutor, 3 hours/week after failing my first test.His lecture and methods are hard to follow at times.But,Multiple choice everything!You can't go wrong!Thanks Dr. Lo, you were awesome.
Good and helpful professor. You need to do homework and do not miss classes. He is nice if you ask for help with homework, his tests are similar to homework.
Dr. Lo was able to balance a large quantity of material to cover and a varied level of math knowledge. He truly tried to increase the student's ability to write math proofs and spent significant time teaching this skill to our class. I think Eastfield has a gem of a math professor in Dr. Lo. I would advice any student to take one of his classes.

Professor Lo knows mathematics. But he is difficult to understand. In order to do well, you have to do the homewwork, do exercises on the book, and spend time in the tutoring center. He has a short temper, so make sure you review subject before each class. Tests are hard and may not reflect the homework exercises.
I cant understand how can people say he is good. HE IS NOT A GOOD TEACHER. Does he knows his material? yes he does. Can he explain it? No. His major problem is that he treats students like mathematicians and we are there to lear. His tests are multiple choice plus he gives a lot of homework, not complaining. I dont recommend him.
Glad that's over! Only saving grace was dropping a test grade. His classes should be subtitled "XXX for PhDs. Brilliant man, just can't convey it on a level that's understandable to most of those he teaches. Won't be back at this school, so I won't be taking Calc from him..sorry for those that do. Maybe he makes more sense in higher math.
Please do not take this teacher. He lectures by giving examples through the book- which he will work out by himself, skipping steps, and not explaining anything. Dr.Lo is a very smart man, but cannot teach.
Test reviews are nothing like the tests. The tests are ten times harder. He did drop one test grade which is probably while I passed. Expect at least fifty homework problems EACH week. His lectures are straight from the book, not his own. He go into a verbal confrontation with a student twice in my class. Take at your own risk!
Probably one of the worst teachers ever, he gets annoyed when students don't understand. He may be smart, but he is not a good teacher by any means. Please do not take him if you intend on going into a math-related field. I got an A with not much effort really, but I certainly do not recommend him!!
took him summer 1. it was my second time taking college algebra. he is a smart man but doesn't always know how to explain everything. most of the material I learned from going home and looking it up on google. not hard, but not the best. made an A.
He made people feel dumb for asking questions about the topic for that day. Went through the material extremely fast and did not allow many questions throughout the discussion. I would not recommend him to anyone planning on taking a mathematics class at Eastfield College.

This was the most hectic math class I've ever taken. Prof. Lo is not very organized, we were told to buy MyMathLab but never used it, we didn't do any work from the book (but most of us had to re-read the textbook after his lecture to understand everything), and his homework was nothing like the exams (they were much much harder).
Mr. Lo is a demanding person. Anyone complaining does it because they are not college material. He expects you to do the homework, read the book, and have learned what you were supposed to in your previous math classes. I have to say, he's not the easiest professor I've had, but I did learn a TON from him.
Mr. Lo knows his stuff, but he only expects you to do it HIS way or you are not doing it "right." I did not enjoy his class at all. I didn't learn that much from him.
Even though I made a B. This was the hardest B ever. He was not organized and got frustrated really fast. I learned nothing from him. I had go to the math lab. Those students helped alot. Mr. Lo teaches you the hardest way possible and expects for you to learn it as soon as he teaches you. He also gets really upset when you ask questions.
Prof Lo is a very intelligent man. He knows his stuff, he just can't teach. He teaches you the hardest way possible to prepare you for higher math courses. Graphing calculators are not allowed. He also gets frustrated when you don't do it "the right way" and gets mad if you ask questions.
This teach i wouldn't recommend even to people who have a good understanding in math. His accent gets in the way of his teaching sometimes and his tests can be sub-hard if you don't understand him. He does offer some chances to make up grades but not many.

I thought I was pretty good at Math but not after this class! He changes his mind about when to give exams a lot, changes due dates on you last minute,tests are NOTHING like reviews, and gets mad if you ask questions. We started off with 40 people in our class, ended up with 12. Extremely smart man, horrible teacher!
He has the knowledge and thinks he knows what he's talking about but he is defiantly not clear in anything! Even if u say math is ur best & fav subject—this prof will make sure u end up hating it and the way its taught! Mr. Lo is really rude when you ask questions. He assigns random homework and ignores emails for help. Mostly what you'll do in class is take notes while he lectures.

He changed my mind about math. He can teach a whole chapter in 3 days and I would not get anything. Yet, a different professor can teach the same chapter for an hour, and by the end of the day I would say this chapter is super easy. I worked really hard for my credit. We never opened the book during class, but it is useful to study.
Oh boy is this a tough class, I have never worked so hard for a B until I met Dr. Lo. If you don't attend his class you will fail and he also shoves content at you like if you were a sponge. He is very smart I won't say that he isn't but he can be confusing at times. I have always loved math but only take him if you plan to major in mathematics.

Lectures are very long, he goes through the lecture quick and sometimes he is hard to understand. There was no hands on assignments, he wrote everything on the board and did not mention what chapter or exactly what concept we were reviewing. He expects you to know everything, if you ask a question he will answer with a smart mouth.

Dr. Lo knows his material, however, his method of teaching isn't for everyone. He gets upset when you don't ask questions, and at the same time he gets mad when you do. He doesn't teach from the textbook, so there's $200 down the drain. Oh, and keep a calculator... a ti-84 or ti-83, because there are many shortcuts he won't show.
Gives to much homework, 50 questions each. Only lates you take the test once. If you don't turn in the homework by the due date you will get a zero. So do your homework cause you get three tries to fix it. He sometimes gets out of track on what he is teaching.

Dr. Lo knows what he is doing and remembers everything 100% with photographic memory, but his teaching is so hard to understand. Before I took the class, I went on rate my professors to know what to expect and to be quite honest, I was a bit worried about the class but it turned out to be the opposite. Dr. Lo is a great teacher and although he was a bit tough, he still gave one the opportunity to higher their grade and didn't hesitate to help someone.
If youre not already good at math do not, I repeat do not select him as your professor. He is a very gifted mathematician not so much gifted as a teacher, he gets mad easily, his patience is very limited and he will not slow his teaching methods for anyone. He suggests tutoring however it is not effective and he will only tutor before class.

You will learn things you never thought you would learn. don't freak out because you will do fine, just work, work, work, and work! He is not the nicest guy, but trust me you will get through it! He does not give review sheets for test, so just find another person taking the same class with a diff. prof. and study from there. JUST DO IT!
Very impatient. Does not want to help students when they ask questions. Rarely takes up the homework to grade. Homework is 50+ questions that he even has trouble doing. Very rude when emailing or meeting with him.
Lectures nonstop each class, will stop at intervals to call upon someone to answer questions, if no one answers he will get mad and yell at the class. Homeworks where "optional"but not really, only grades are the tests. My class was overall failing so he offered an abundance of extra credit (which was the homeworks) which is how I passed.
He expects you to know everything. He likes to show us new equations and wont really go step by step because he expects you to know everything. If you are asked a question about an equation and you do not know it, he will put you on the spot. He made a couple students uncomfortable for that and many students drop his class.
Professor Lo knows the material well. I think since he's been teaching for a long time he's not that enthusiastic about teaching anymore. He says to ask questions but when you do he gets frustrated when you don't quite understand it.
If I could give a 0, I would! The worst professor ever! Always in a bad mood. I never felt comfortable going to him when I didn't understand something. Instead of helping you, he made you feel dumb for not knowing or understanding something. He was also not sympathetic if you are going through something. A total waste of my hard earned dollars....

Take into perspective that 30 people started the course and before the drop date by a week or so, there were only 10 students in the class. This man called me dumb and slower than the rest of the class because I was sitting in the front and asking at least 4 or 5 questions a class.
I took calculus in high school and have always been great in math. I failed this class. Cant be anymore honest than that.

I was great at math once i started to take his class he made me feel dumb he gets mad when you ask questions and when you dont he also gets mad we started the class with about 18 students ended up with only 3 or 4 students showing up to class. I do not recommend him hes not worth taking.

When lecturing calmly, he is incredibly informative, and I would find myself learning quite a few methods, proofs, and other interesting and helpful things about mathematics. The only issue? He gets beyond insulted when students ask questions, occasionally even going so far as to insult them outright, and then angrily ranting for thirty minutes.

The absolute worst teacher you will ever come across in your academic career. If you read these reviews and still decide to take his class you will receive terrible grades and verbal abuse. This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Im currently taking this same class with another professor and I have a 99% halfway through the flex term. Lo wants you to fail; he makes it to where you cannot pass. I had to drop his class due to bad grades because he expects you to know the material without teaching you.
Not to toot my own horn but Professor Los class is the only one Ive ever gotten a B in. Out of my 3 years in college, taken up to CALC1 & BUSI1, Ive maintained straight As except for his algebra 1 class. Hes somewhat demeaning to his students and seems like he makes a point to embarrass them in front of others in the middle of class.. outdated
Very easy class if you are willing to teach yourself. The powerpoints, MyMathLab study guide, and the book rarely help when doing the homework. Easy to reach and a fast responder. Does not use lockdown browser. Multiple attempts on the HWs, and 3 Exams, the final exam only has 1 attempt. The questions from the tests from the HWs.
Doctor Lo, is a phenomenal mathematician. While it is difficult for him to step back to an intermediate understanding of math, he explained the concepts thoroughly. He opened all the homework up for the end final. His extra credit is built in the homework so, if you stay on top of the homework its an easy A.
Taken during the summer of 2022, Timothy Lo's class was at best bland. The material was uninteresting and his homework's were long. Expect up to 50 questions per homework. Tests are essentially recycled homework questions.
It was really hard to understand him and honestly I had to use apps to help me with the homework and test. Each Molecule had four or five homework assignments with 50 questions. Do the homework on time to get a good grade or else he would pick on you.
If you do what is expected of you, then you will succeed in this course. Homework is very heavy there's lot of questions to each homework assignment, and you need to stay on top of due dates. The professor is caring about student learning he offers multiple ways of helping students out with the course.
I am sorry I did not find this website before I signed up for this professor's class. It was a 8 week course, which I have done before. Everything was fine until he changed the date of a test and multiple homework submissions, and he sent the email a day before the new due date, which was an entire week before the due date outlined in the syllabus.
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS! I messed up on a few homework assignments, I got a 40 on one assignment, the rest were fine (80s). And he acted like a middle school teacher about it. It got to the point where I eventually just started skipping class so I wouldn't be ridiculed. It was past the withdrawal date so I couldn't pull out. Please don't take him.
The only issues I would say this professor has is scheduling. He will set a date for a test on a certain date and the the week of he will change it without informing you of the update. I was unfortunate to not be able to take my exam as he changed the date of the exam from the 10th to the 8th without notifying us.
Worst professor I have ever taken, I did not show up to class one day because I had SAT(I told him before hand and he said it was fine) then he goes on a 10 minute tantrum of how a lot of people did not show up ( we all had SAT) and blames it on me. If you take the class just do the homeworks they count as extra credit
Do not take this class unless you are willing to teach yourself. The homework is 50 questions each. He encourages you to ask questions but once you do he gets mad. If you don't ask questions he gets mad at you. He will berate you in the middle of class and blame you for everything. After about 4-5 weeks only 5 people would show up
If you just wanna get the class over with and don't care about learning anything, this online course is definitely the one for you. The exams don't have lockdown or anything, but there are 4 exams including the final. The assignments are worth 30% BUT you literally only need to get 450 questions correct total.
Easy… Homework is set up like a quiz with 50 questions each. I believe it set up this way so he doesn't have to grade anything, the system does it. If you ask for help, he'll tell you to get a tutor. No lockdown browser. He did try to force in person exams because people were procrastinating with their homework like a temper tantrum or something
Prof. Lo's class is tough - lots of homework and a thick accent can make it hard to follow. But Unstuck AI and other study aids helped me stay on top of it. Attend every class, do the work, and you can get through it.
For Calculus III online with Professor Lo, exams were given in a 5 hour time period for you to complete, and they were unproctored. The grades for the course come from a couple of homeworks and 3 exams, and a final. You are only required to do 250 homework questions throughout the whole course and any extra questions you do gives you extra credit
Do not take his online classes unless you dont have a 9-5 job. exams scheduled in the middle of the day from 8am-1pm, which defeats the purpose of taking a 100% online course for those who want flexibility. No lockdown browser. You need to learn the material on your own. Homework are SUPER long, EXAMS questions are ALSO SUPER LONG.
I did not like the way he would get mad or upset if I asked a questioned or responded wrong to one of his questions. Also I took him for summer and in a 5 weeks semester 480 mathematic problems were required. Which would not be such an unreasonable amount for someone unemployed, but most people do work so it was kind of a stretch in that part.
This professor is hard to understand. He wants you to ask questions, but gets mad if you don't get it. If you're paying out of pocket or really want to learn, don't take this class.
Dr Lo yells at the simplest of mistakes. Ask questions where you need clarity, he yells. Make a mistake or give a wrong answer, he yells. You can't even understand well cos of his yelling, so you have to do extra work on your own. He doesn't give clear instructions and can change his mind so ask question to be safe (he'll still yell).
Study hard, go to class and it's express. He can be lenient at times, but he yells. Testing method depends on how the class participates. Study ahead so you don't get lost in the class. 3 Exams and 1 Finals. Assignments are long and bulky but most of them are repeated in the exams so solve them by yourself so you can ace the exams. No MyLabMath!!!
