Probably my favorite teacher at HCC! He expects a lot from his students, but he gives you everything you need to succeed. He's also really fun to watch--he gets so excited about the topics and has so much energy and a fun personality.
Greatest teacher at HCC, not the hardest either. Not to say he's a slow paced teacher, he is just plain good at his job. I treat him like a friend, we make jokes and insults at each other and is light hearted enough to take it all well and come back at you with more. A++++ ebayer, um I mean teacher.
Awesome teacher, easy to understand, although his tests are very detailed, and they require that you read every chapter in detail. Very funny, and he does get really excited about his topics. Personally he is a very nice guy, and I recommend any body to to take his class.

So funny. I lvoed the class. He'll banter with everyone but he'll get you to do the work. He's there to help you out when you need it and will help you go further in study if you want to. He wants a lot of detail, but sometimes he'll throw you a virtual star or some virtual bonus points. Definitely suggest him.
VERY easy if you pay attention, visit him during his office hours, and ask for help if you need it. Interesting and humorous... I liked his dark, Irish wit.
Didn't like him. He jokes around too much and threw out way too many facts at once. Nice guy, but his sarcasm can be mistaken for rudeness.
My favorite instructor at HCC period. Loved his class. Always interesting and fun. Not super easy but he gives you the tools you need to do well if you do the work. Would definately recommend him to anyone.
I loved this guys lectures. He made these stories come alive. The only problem was that he had us do this wierd thing to prepare for the final which made it take about an hour longer.
What a great guy. He has the greatest personality ever. I try to squeeze in one of his classes whenever i can. He made coming to class a privleage. I adore his teaching methods and plus hes hot. thank you so much for letting me take your classes.
Took his class, and was surprised to enjoy it! Hated history, but not after his class! He made the history come to life and fun. Jokes in class, which keeps u awake. Really fun, not that easy but just right to make u learn
By far the best class I took at Highline. If you just listen to his lectures (and skim the book occasionally) you'll do fine on his tests. Also make sure to use pens on the test, because every once and a while he'll give you extra credit for it.
My all time favorite teacher at Highline. He expects a lot but does everything he can to help you succeed. He is so excited about what he's teaching that he makes it fun. GREAT teacher.
This class wasn't as boring as I thought it would be. He's funny but doesnt try to hard to be funny. He teaches in a way thats not confusing. The tests aren't that hard and if you review his notes online and finish all the study guides...you'll do good on the tests for sure! Awesome teacher!
This class is very difficult. The questions on his tests are so broad they cover more than just the main ideas. On the first test this quarter in the class, literally half of the class failed. On the other hand, he's a really friendly teacher and he tries to be helpful. Take this class if you have a LOT of free time and you love studying history.
This guy is so funny! I really enjoyed going to his class, cause it makes you smile. The class that I took wasn't hard at all, he just gave extra points all the time. I don't like that personally, but i guess that is good for some people. Overall if you need to take a history class, he is the best teacher to take it with.
McMannon's a great teacher and really funny. He gives out tons of bonus points and you get to use a notecard on every test. If you do the required reading, you can easily get an A.
He's really funny.....but, the class is hard to pass and the tests are hard.
mcmannon is hilarious. this guy had me laughin on the floor everyday! we had a bunch of russains in our class, so he would always crack jokes about them. if your not tryna get your high killed by some lame history class... take this one.
Easiest class I've ever taken in my life. He gives out free points like it's candy - not that I needed it. I got over 100% on all of my exams and rarely ever read the book. He practically tells you whats on the test just you just study that the day before and you're good. Great guy too, funny lectures. Highly recommended.
he is funny guy and tall BUT he is the hader teacher. when you do exam you need to memorize everything!! also essay and answer quesiton not only multiple choices.
This guy makes you want to be a history major.
I LOVE HIM! he is really challenging, but at the same time he makes history fun. If I was you I would take this class even if it is not required. =D
I took him a couple of years ago. Do all the readings, don't miss the little 5 point quizzes, do well on the exam, then you get an easy 4.0. the exam consists of 2 parts. Multiple Choice and like 5 Definitions which are usually easy if you did the reading. Oh yeah Also he has bonus questions too!
He's a great teacher overall but if you miss the 5 point quizzes which there's about 8-10 you miss out on those point and it can affect your grade overall. He has 5 tests which aren't hard if you've read the material, and 1 bk assign. He also offers ex. credit occasionally. ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT(30 points) Overall funny teacher I'd recommend him.
Awesome teacher. Humorous yet educational. I have very little interest in history but I am succeeding in his class! This is my first quarter here, but definitely best instructor/general facility member I have encountered.
He was awesome. Really funny, and not strict on anything at all. Easy class to pass if you actually try to pass it.
I took this teacher 2 quarters and if you don't like sarcasm you won't like him. I didn't like his teaching style personally. At the end of class I felt stupider then when I walked in. And doesn't give good instructions.
Hilarious, helpful, informative! If you don't like a lot of writing, especially essay questions on tests, go for Mr. McMannon! He only has you do one writing assignment during the quarter, and the exams consist only of multiple choice and short answer questions. Be sure to do your reading every night because he WILL surprise you with pop quizzes!
HILARIOUS! Funniest teacher I have ever had hands down! But on a serious note you should always attend class and PAY ATTENTION. He can be pretty tricky so make sure you read everything carefully and be involved with the class discussion. Super nice too. At the end of the qaurter he gave me a chance to earn the .2 I needed for a 4.0.
nice and easy
All right teacher. Sometimes can be funny. Gives pop reading quizzes out of reading for the day. exams aren't to easy
Teaching is Dull. Made me never want to show up for class. Test are difficult even when he says they are not! Tries to bring humor into his teaching but fails. Only recommend this class for students that love history.
One of the best teachers I have ever had! He's funny and makes class super interesting! Made me want to go to class! Pop reading quizzes, so make sure to read the book! they're not hard though, the test are exactly what I would expect a history to be, hard but not toooo hard! RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER! :)
I really enjoyed his class. I thought he was funny and his tests are super easy. He gives extra credit too. I would recommend him to anyone! To get an A in this class all your really have to do is pay attention and do the readings. The readings are only like 3 pages a day! EASY!
His class is hecka easy. all you gotta do is read the book and he just goes over the same stuff the next day.only a couple of tests and you couold use a notecard. He gives you a study guide too. Really funny and chill teacher. (:
A lot of reading, tests are easy IF you read and take notes on everything he says. Have to attend class to understand everything. But at the same time, HILARIOUS.
Funny, enough said.
Very awesome professor, If you like teachers who are funny and give out bonus points then he is the professor you want to take! His final this quarter he spent 30 mins telling us most of the answers and history is my worst subject. One thing though read the book you never know when he'll give you a pop quiz also be sure you attend class everyday!
The best advice I can give you is do your reading, come to class everyday, don't miss all the opportunities to get bonus points. He's really nice, funny and sarcastic. He makes history so much easier to understand. I got a 3.9. Take him if you need this class. I wouldn't recommend any other instructors for this course.
He is a very funny teacher and tells you what you will be doing for the entire quarter at the beggining so there are no surprises. If you do the work the pass is easy to pass and lots of fun!
I hated his class. He is very monotoned. His jokes are not funny. His tests are ridiculous. I recommend taking another teacher.
This teacher was HILARIOUS. HIs jokes are so corny and sarcastic that it keeps you awake. It's either you love it or hate it. His lectures are kinda boring tho, if you read the textbook, it's all the same thing. The tests are reasonable, he lets you use a cheat sheet. Oh! And be aware of surprise pop quizzes! So read your stuff!
I enjoyed his class. I think he is an extremely fair grader. I barely studied for his tests since I put it all on my notecard and got satisfactory scores. However, you won't have good info for your notecard if you don't attend everyday. And yes, beware of 5 question pop quizzes. You must read, but it's usually 10-15 pages per night. So not too bad.
Awesome teacher!he actually made me interested to learn history. Make sure you read the book and additional readings because there are pop quizzes every once and a while. for the exams you get a notecard to put as much information on it that you want. Hes really funny and gives a lot of opportunities to raise your grade and makes history intersting
Super funny. History may not be an easy subject for people but he makes it SO easy to pass the class by letting u use a notecard for every test. Read the hw pages he often has 5 question pop quizzes but only the best 7 scores count! So if you fail some you're fine. Again, super easy. Go to class & take notes every day! It helps most.
This is an amazing teacher. He explains everything clearly and jokes as he goes along. I've never had a better teacher. His sarcasm funny and he makes the class fun. The tests are easy if you study and you can use a notecard as a cheat sheet. I would recommend this class to everyone.
Great guy! He was funny and he will work with you if you have to miss a quiz or something. personable... and he knows his stuff! I recommend him. Only thing I didn't like was sometimes he got very biased politically/religiously
AMAZING teacher. Would recommend him. He is funny, easy, gives you all the answers... Pretty tricky. Gives extra credit points but is very sneaky about it so make sure to read the directions on the tests, because he includes points there.
I have taken HIST 146&147 with McMannon. Always be sure to do your daily readings, show up to class (never show up late, reading quizzes are given the first 5 mins), take notes & study hard! He's a great professor!!!!
McMannon is an amazing teacher! His class is super simple and easy as long as you try (read the book & study for exams). I highly recommend taking his classes. Tip: try not to be late, he gives out pop reading quizzes.
Great Teacher. Reading Quizzes are simple if you read and test are sooo easy because you get to have a cheat sheet
Tim is hilarious. Some people wouldn't get his sense of humor but I thought he made class bearable because of his jokes. If you take notes and study what's on the study guide, you'll be golden. Also beware of the random pop quizzes.. you never know when they're coming
I LOVE MCMANNON. best history professor at the school, nuff' said.
Great teacher. Knows what he's doing very well. Pop quizzes brought my grade down so make sure to read on time! interesting class if you like history. Oh and very tough grader make sure your answers are perfect! When he says give 2 reasons, give two not three!
Wonderful teacher! He makes learning fun and makes really funny jokes! Assigns a lot of reading though and if you dont do it you will fail the pop quizzes (which he gives A LOT of) You get free points a lot and on every test and quiz you have an opportunity for extra credit.
Dr. McMannon is probably the greatest teacher I've had at Highline. Class is ridiculously easy and gives extra credit out like it's candy. I would almost argue the class is too easy, but meh. 4-5 page book readings every night. Do them because he gives 5 question pop quizzes. Show up to class, you'll enjoy it.
Garbo. Worst teacher.
As long as you read the book you will pass with at least a 3.0. Easy reading but kind of boring. How ever Mcmannon is funny enough to make the lectures interesting. Fun class. Tests are a little hard but also easy at the same time. Pop quizzes are never hard.
McMannon is a nice man, he's a goofy teacher and makes the lectures worth going to. Grade: four 50 point tests on certain chapters (there is way too much content covered), at least 10 pop quizzes (he only takes the top 7), show up for attendanceparticipation points, and some extra credit. Try to read before class and not use your phone too much.
HILARIOUS. He makes lectures so fun; you never want to skip class. His tests are multiple choice and he gives you a 4x6 notecard front and back to have notes. He gives study guides for tests. Fill out the study guide thoroughly, and write what you can't remember on the notecard, and you're golden. Oh, and bring him donuts in his office hours.
Completely funny professor. His class isn't too hard as long as you study for the exams and do the readings on a regular basis. It's just a lot of boring reading and his lectures are funny in class. Overall great teacher though
He does listen to the students and is very funny. There are surprise reading quizzes and you do need to read the book. The tests are not that hard.
Favorite professor at highline so far. Long lectures, but he makes them interesting. Cracks jokes ALL the time. Lots of reading pop quizzes so make sure to read. Tests are easy, you even get to use a cheat sheet. Deffinately would take again! :)
Favorite professor at highline! Absolutely Halerius, guaranteed to laugh every day. Lots of pop quizzes, so read! Get to use a cheat sheet on tests so they're very easy. Also, always test corrections! Cares about your grade abd tries to always give bonus points. Highly recommend!
This was a great class! He is very enthusiastic and sarcastic which makes lectures interesting. You have to make sure you do the reading every day, as there are quite a few pop quizzes on it. As long as you're reading, attending lectures, and studying a lot for exams (they have extra credit questions!) this is a fairly easy class.
Great professor, loves to make jokes and enjoys doing his job. He does give out pop quizzes but they are very simple and are usually on the reading that was assigned last night so reading is mandatory to pass those quizzes. He offers tons of extra credit, He allows a note card of notes on tests which is helpful. Would definitely take again.
Honestly one of my favorite teachers! He's so helpful, hilarious and makes learning about U.S History fun.
He's super interested and passionate in his material, and he makes it fun to want to go to class. There's a lot of reading, and you need to read to get a good grade. He curves a ton and gives a lot of extra credit, if you don't get an A it's because you are slacking. I highly suggest Tim if you really want to learn and have a good professor.
Tim is not an easy teacher but can be quite funny at times. Random pop quizzes on daily readings. His exams aren't so difficult but there was a lot of material in the class. There's an essay as well and is worth a good chunk of the grade. Difficult teacher but easily approachable for help.
he gives pop quizzes multiple times and week and the hardest tests I've ever taken
Wonderful human.
I'll be honest: this is the first history class I've taken that I actually looked forward to going to. This guy is great! He makes history interesting, and the work is fairly easy. He does give pop quizzes, but as long as you do the daily reading you'll be fine. I highly recommend taking this class! Just don't get behind on the reading.
If you're here to learn, then McMannon's one of the teachers at Highline that you have to take. He'll make you work for your grade, but if you do, he'll do everything he can to support you. His class is really structured, and he's very knowledgeable about his subject. Great lectures. Do the reading, come to class, and you'll be fine.
I learned so much about the American Civil War this quarter. It is so interesting! Professor McMannon taught in a way that made the material easy to understand and he was also very funny. In class, we watched videos, had several tests and quizzes, and a book review to write. Overall, this was a super fun class. I recommend it to everyone.
Professor McMannon is an awesome teacher! He made History, a previously boring and uninteresting subject for me, fun to learn about. In class, reading and attendance were mandatory. There were sometimes surprise reading quizzes. If you come to class, study, read, and ask questions, you will do great in this class. I recommend Hist 146 to everyone.
Mr. McMannon is one of my favorite teachers here at Highline. If you're not a history person like me, he makes the class enjoyable. He's hilarious! There's 5 exams total but likes to give pop reading quizzes. PLENTY of bonus opportunities to raise your grade. The class is a bit challenging, but if you do the reading and come to class, you'll pass.
lots of reading and pop quizez
He makes history funny and interesting to follow along with! He gives a bunch of easy extra credit opportunities! The main focus is reading. If you read the text book daily, you will definitely pass the class.
Tim makes history interesting. Last quarter his class is the class that I will expected the most every day. Amazing professor, amazing lectures. If you want to study, take his classes. It is hard to get points, but it is not hard in other hand. All you need do is study hard. My major is either CS of Math, but I will take his class again.
Took him for History 148, then again for 146. He's very funny and makes lectures interesting. As long as you do the daily readings (come on 10 or so pages a night won't kill you) you'll pass the pop quizzes and tests no problem. The textbook is also easy to understand. Overall this class can be an easy a if you put in a decent amount of work.
Mr. McMannon has become one of my favorite professors. He makes History interesting to learn. His quizzes and exams aren't too tough, and his grading is fairly easy to understand. PLEASE take him. He's an awesome guy. I cannot implore you enough.
He is amazing! He makes the funniest jokes, and tries to add fun to his lectures. He has lectures every single day, but they are really important for the exams! 5 exams for the whole semester, and lets you use a notecard for the exams. He is just a great professor overall, and I will probably be taking another class with him in future quarters!
if your major isn't related to History, don't take his class. You will have a lot of readings everyday, and pop quizzes every week. The test is hard and tricky because it covers a lot of information from textbook and his notes. His notes sometimes useful, sometimes not. He also has some bonus points. You have to study for 5 tests on your own.
McMannon was overall a pretty good teacher. If you do the reading assignments on time and be there during class to take notes/record his lectures your grade will be solid! Tip: when you take class notes on his lectures make sure to write about what he talks about too and not whats just on the board or else youre gonna have to do more work later!
Tim is a great professor! I find history really boring but Tim made lectures engaging and he's funny! Make sure to do the daily readings in case of a pop quiz (10 pages a day). The exams can be hard but as long as you read, pay attention during lectures, and take advantage of the one notecard you get, you'll be fine!
He is a good teacher. I get a good grade in exams so participation and attandance doesnt matter, but if youre not confident in the exams, you have to talk a lot to get as many points as possible. There are lots of bonus points from test and quizz. His notes+notecard are important. Pop quizz usually a day right after the exams so beware of that.
One of the funniest and most entertaining teachers you'll ever meet. The course content is fundamentally uninteresting, but he makes it so fun to listen to lectures. Lenient on test by allowing one note card of notes. This is key. Also makes sure to do the reading as pop-quizzes are truly random.
SUPER funny & you actually learn things from his dorky jokes. Passionate about history & cares about the students. Pop quiz heavy, especially the day after a test, so keep up with the reading. Attendance/participation mandatory. Tests are long & covers everything so study the study guide competently. Over all dope teacher. 10/10
Tim is great. He's funny, he cares about his students, and his classes are interesting. There are nightly readings, which usually take me two hours to do, so beware. There are also exams every couple of weeks, which is rather stressful. Great professor, and a great class if you're willing to work hard. Dilly dilly!
Dr. Mcmannon is awesome. He's one of the funniest professors I've had, and is extremely passionate about history. You do have to take notes outside of class from the textbook pretty much every night, or else you'll have no idea what's going on. He also gives pop quizzes, but those aren't bad as long as you do the notes! Great teacher overall.
He makes lectures interesting with jokes and dramatic acting of historical events. He has pop quizzes from a textbook, but as long as you do the reading and pay attention to the terms on the exam review in each reading, quizzes are easy. There is a variety of assignments and lots of multiple choice.
I am not a fan of history at all. However, I needed the credit to finish my Diploma. Tim has made this class so easy to follow with reasonable pacing and clear expectations. He allows a note-card every exam and his pop quizzes are more of reorganization of names so they're really easy if you do the reading. Great personality and teacher.
If you need to get your history credits, take Tim! He lectures in a way that makes learning history not want to fall asleep. He's really funny too. The homework (textbook pages) is clearly laid out. Plus, he gives tons of bonus points on tests and quizzes.
Study guides are vague and tests are detailed. He was funny and approachable but not helpful in terms of tests and what you can do to succeed in the class. Even with test bonuses and study sessions i almost failed the course.
There is reading every night, and there are random pop quizzes. Lectures are entertaining, and he has enthusiasm. There is just a bunch of reading, and the study guides can be very long. His schedule is very precise too. A usual test is 30-40 multiple choice, 5 short answers and a couple extra credit answers. Everything is pretty straight forward.
Its history so of course they're reading. It's not too bad (if you don't read) mainly cause the book is really interesting. you have to read because he has reading quizes w/out telling y'all. study ahead of time he gives you a notecard to study but don't put off studying!!! also EXTRA CREDIT but you have to read
This professor was a big NO. Hes such a hard grader and he has a pop quiz 3 or 2 times a week. If you dont Show up to class you wont pass and theres no way to make it up. Not taking class with him ever again
He's an okay teacher. I could tell he really loves what he does and always taught with enthusiasm and passion. He's also pretty funny! I didn't like how we had 4 assignments throughout the whole quarter, most of them at the beginning. Some of the tests are ok, but others were ridiculous EX: 19 people got an F on one of them.
Tim is a really awesome human! he gives really interesting lectures and offers a lot of opportunists to get feedback.
This teacher is one of the best I have ever taken. He makes you work for your grade but it's honestly worth it. He makes it fun, answers your questions directly, and as long as you show up and participate its an easy A. If you need help, he's always there to help you and he's very good at it.
Mcmannon is one of my favorite teachers at Highline! He's super funny and his lectures are so fun which keeps your attention. There are 5 tests with 40 points each- most multiple choice and some short answer. He gives lots of bonus points which are nice! Sometimes there are pop reading quizzes but they are fairly easy. Sometimes group work too!
Tim is still my favorite professor to this day, and i'm at a university now. its really simple to pass. just read the ten assigned pages, study your class notes for the test, and get over a 100%. he gives so many chances for extra credit anything below a 95% is because you didn't show up.
Never take a class with him again. the tests are very detailed and specific and there are no assignments to help with your score. the professor wasn't helpful when asked for help on the tests. just don't take him
McMannon is picky when he grades, but it's not hard to receive a 4.0 in his class as long as you come every day. He gives out reading every day and pop quizzes at least once a week, but they aren't hard and only the best 7 are kept out of more than 15. Luckily, he gives lots of chances to prove your understanding, however, he does choose favorites.
He is really interactive with the kids and keeps learning about history exciting and fun. Hes picky on grading especially the map quiz. But his study guides are like the test which are really nice for once!
My favorite class at highline! Tim makes lectures engaging and fun. Just make sure to do the daily reading (about 5-10 pgs)and youll be fine. He gave us so many chances for extra credit and cares about your grade. Reading quizzes were easy (some were group AND open note) and tests were based on the study guide. I learned a lot and enjoyed it!
He's a great teacher, not only that, he's hilarious! I would have taken more of his classes if I could've. One of the greats. Your typical workload- reading, quizzes, exams. Gold star for this guy.
He is an amazing teacher, I love his humor and all, the loadwork is something you need to be prepared for, even in my opinion im pulling out my hair to get through this class, all of my attention is going into this class, when it comes to exams theres over 100 terms you need to memorize love the guy, thought i could handle the load but im drained.
If you are lazy, do not take this class. The workload is a lot but it is not impossible. Be ready for at least 1, maybe 2 pop quizzes a week and be ready to come to class everyday, take notes, and go home and read almost 10 pages a day. He gives you chance for extra credit and hes a good and funny guy. Please do not take this class if you are lazy
Class is hella easy as long as you do the work. Exams are exactly like his study guides. Quizzes are based on last night readings. Just read every night and show up to class and take notes.
A lot of reading. Do not take this class if youre not prepared for a lot of studying. I didnt feel like he really cared if I passed or failed his class. He had good lectures and to be honest I should have studied harder. The study guides are accurate to the test.
He is a good teacher and teaches well. He makes lectures interesting and fun. He gives a ton of reading though. You have to cover so much material each exam. Participation and attendance is graded harshly, everything else is graded easily as long as you study well. Do not take this class with other hard classes you will be stressed.
At first, He was chill. We had to read 1 chapter every week and take notes on it which is pretty easy. He had 2 parts to every exam. 25 multiple choice questions for part 1 and a long essay for another which is annoying. He's chill when on zoom but kinda mean and passive-aggressive when commenting on your work. Would not recommend him to anyone.
The quizzes are overall pretty easy but the exams are a bit harder, he is a tough grader on the essays for the exams and rarely gives out the full 15 points. In class he is pretty chill, but when you message him asking a question he gives you a cold and dry response, making you feel like you dont know anything. Would not recommend.
I hate myself for taking his class. He is okay and his zoom calls are boring that I hardly pay attention. His humor is cool but man... when you get ur tests back he makes rlly mean comments n he makes you feel dumb. He makes you work for the A. Sometimes the readings are hard to understand but he never talks about them. Please don't take this class
Beware if you want to take this class for fun, it is one of the worst classes ever. He is a nice teacher but the work load is a lot. When grading work he gives replies that make you feel dumb and there is barely ANY assignments so your grade relies heavily on the exams which is two parts. Save yourself the stress & don't take this class.
Hated this class. The professor was okay during his lectures and seemed nice but outside of class he wasnt really accessible. I sent him an email about two weeks back, and he still hasn't responded. When he grades a test his response often made me feel dumb. Your grade depends on test scores since he doesn't give out any other assignments.
There's reading every day. The professor expects you to memorize such short things in a small amount of times. Exam usually has about 25 questions + 2 extra credit with a limit of 20 minutes. If you have a good memory and study really efficiently you might do well.
I only took this class because the ratings were decent. However, this class sucks. The teacher seems nice and chill when on zoom but he leaves passive aggressive comments on exams and emails. Not to mention that there are reading assignments everyday. His lectures dont even go over the reading. Save yourself the trouble and take a different class.
This class is time consuming. You're expected to read around 40 pages of your history book per week + his extra videos which range from 20-50 mins depending on what lesson you're on. Memorization is key for this class. You also have 5 exams, surprise quizzes, and random reading assignments. He's a funny guy though! Very passionate in his field too.
Okay so heres the thing, hes funny and honestly not a bad teacher- he just has some really high expectations. He also does give extra cred. but still he makes you WORK for it. Tests are really hard and he gives barely any time. He thinks its reasonable to answer 3 questions a minute and that you should know everything like the back of your hand.
Took his class winter quarter 2020. Very funny instructor. Take good notes; lectures are heavily related to exam questions. Read the material in advance just in case of pop quizzes. His humor could be considered passive aggressive, but he's just passionate about history. During on campus class, we had to buy scantrons for exams. Buy it or get lucky
Mr. McMannon is an extremely respectful and passionate professor. Hes a pretty easy grader and offers lots of opportunities for extra credit. Do the reading or you will get lost in class.
Tim is a good professor, he takes the time to make sure his students understand the material, he provides students with notes, chapter, and topic explanation videos. His course isn't that heavy but there's a test for every chapter for 2 weeks. You have to read the textbook there are some assignments based on the textbook & articles but its easy.
Many students recommended this teacher to me but it was my mistake to take an online class from him. We were his first online class and he assigns way too much homework. He expects you to spent 15 hours a week doing homework either textbook work or quizzes. Don't take this class if you want an easy ONLINE history class.
Overall, he is an okay teacher. I recommend that you read the textbook and work hard. In addition, the exams are mildly difficult as does not give much time. I got a C because of the large amounts of homework and assignments that were constantly due but they weren’t impossible to complete.
Tim is a really funny teacher and hes very nice and respectful. However, this class is really hard. The tests are very difficult and hes a tough grader. If you dont give the answer he wants, you fail the question. If youre not a good test taker, you will fail this class. Its too test heavy and there isnt enough extra credit to redeem it.
Kind and hilarious, can be kinda tough when grading the written part of the exam I would take him again because of the great panopto videos that completely replace the boring textbook most of the time and all the extra credit options he gives. Even a procrastinator like me could blow assignments and not read the textbook but still pass with a 4.0.
Gave us five tests ( on Canvas, open note) and dropped the lowest grade, so I didn't take test 5 and still did well. You can get by just by watching his Panoptos, though he adds some questions only found in the textbook. He gave us many extra credit opportunities. He also acts funny and sociable. Easy class to cram the night before and still pass.
You have to do the reading before class to pass. He gives surprise reading quizzes sometimes. While you really have to stay on track, it's still an easy class to pass. He drops the lowest exam and lowest assignments so it's not too bad as long as you get everything in on time and do your best.
While the test are hard, they are open noted so if you take good notes on the textbook you should be fine as well as he drops the worst grade on a test so if you miss one test, but you did good on the others you should be fine, and he also gives extra credit
hes a funny teacher but grades sort of harsh he makes class fun but you need to stay on top of reading and videos to be successful
Great Teacher! Very nice and willing to help.
Dude this teacher is GREAT. Not only is he hilarious, but he makes learning FUN. A lot of teachers lack the will and passion to teach; showing students no compassion or human interaction. But Tim was honestly my favorite teacher this quarter. He is the best, take his class if you want someone who truly cares about his students.
He really shows his dedication with his teaching, so understand what is given beforehand by reading the book. I had to spend more time studying this course.
Although I ended with an A, this is the most unprofessional and unpredictable professor I have ever had. DO NOT take this class unless you want to be ridiculed, ignored, and docked down for small things. This teacher does not care about his students and wants them to fail, or at least gives that attitude.
Prepare yourselves for this class. Does not explain at all and his ideas of teachings are unhelpful. DO NOT take this class
I will say right away he does not give a lot of assignments, but if you don't like to read DO NOT TAKE IT. Exams are every two weeks and if you didn't have time to read one of the chapter and take a note you will fail. And he treats answers to exams as essays. He punishes for plagiarism ON THE EXAM, which unfair since its AN EXAM AND NOT AN ESSAY!!
This professor was a very tough grader, his feedback was very condescending and made you feel dumb. The chapters reading was heavy some weeks, having to read three chapters in one week. Do not take this class unless you have to.
very annoying teacher, very harsh grader
Professor McMannon is a fun and engaging teacher who makes learning enjoyable. While the tests can be challenging, his use of resources like Panoptos videos and extra credit opportunities help balance the workload. Unstuck AI was a great tool for quiz prep.
Lectures are useless most of the stuff he teachs you in class doesnt even appear on the quizes. Even though he gives you a cheat cheat and a study guide the quiz is on the most random unimportant topic. Once only about 4 out of 25 kids passed a quiz and he blamed us. There are always more people who fail than pass every quiz.
I took him for a couple of courses, and he's amazing. Very passionate, funny, and entertaining. Course load isn't crazy, just do the daily readings (5-10 pgs/day) and pay attention during lecture. I'm really grateful to have had him as a professor, he's a kind soul! His personality translates a lot better in person vs online, so take him in person.
Class was light, a very funny and chill guy, gave lots of extra credit opportunity's, if you fail this class you probably didn't even try no cyapppp. I would recommend this dude hes very cool.
Tim is an amazing teacher. Lots of pop quizzes so keep up on the daily reading. There is also a lot of bonus point opportunities, make sure to take advantage of that. Amazing teacher, just put in the work, and you will succeed.
