Overly critical, no positive feedback, poor communication skills

This class is not difficult, but not because of any help I received from Prof. Mulkey. Every time I asked a question, I was treated as if I am an idiot. And yes, I ALWAYS checked the FAQ's first!

Not very helpful with students and rude when attempting to help.

Not at all helpful, rude and condescending, not willing to help students, talks down to you if you do ask for help, generally a miserable experience. Glad it's over and I don't have to go through it again!!!!!

I would advise never ever to take one of his classes, unless you like being treated like s#!*. Thinks he knows everything but for some reason he answers all questions with I don't understand.

The professor is rude and demeaning and totally unpleasant to deal with for any reason. This professor is best avoided at all costs.

Very rude, no people skills. Material wasn't terribly difficult except he would be terribly rude to people who made small mistakes.

He's unhelpful, inconsiderate, and doesn't understand what anyone says on his assignment board even though he is the one leading the rest of us.

I agree that he is rude and untactful.He wants a critical thinking answer but doesn't want to accept it if he does not agree with it. Does not promote good interaction with students especially online.Do not appreciate being yelled at for asking valid questions. He needs to find a different career.

Mean spirited, sarcastic disposition. Gives the impression that he detests students and hates teaching. He should stay in the lab alone with his research and out of the classroom. Students would do better to spend their tuition elsewhere than on any class involving this man.

He's the worst professor I've had. The actual content hasn't been too bad so far, but the overall attitude he has really hinders the learning. He is downright RUDE; he makes you feel like you're the stupidest person you've ever met if you ask him a question. I would definitely recommend TO NOT HAVE HIM AS A PROFESSOR.

Completely unhelpful and very unclear in instructions.

class may be easy but he is very condescending... and to get that across in an online class takes a lot of effort. you really feel like he's yelling at you through text. he shoots down almost every answer someone posts on the msg boards.

This man is the worst! He is rude and impossible. He expects way too much. I took his web based course and it was the worst experience ever! AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS!!..he will seriously ruin your semester!!!

I would NOT ever take this professor again if my life depended on it. If you ask him a question, when he answers it he makes you feel like you are the dumbest person alive. Its impossible to answer his critical thinking qustions...they have to be 100% right or you get no credit at all. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF....THIS IS NO JOKE!!!

This guy KILLS your day if you take his class in the morning. everytime i walked to his class all ready and energized for the day, it feels as if he would just soke it all up with his lethally slow way of talking. this man kills whatever motivation you have to learn...stay away from his classes

I had this guy for a web-based Biology class - he's completely rude and out-of-control. You are required to answer critical thinking questions on Blackboard for your grade, but when you do, you are blasted for your answer. This guy is a detriment to ISU, and should be removed from his position, since he's obviously so miserable teaching.

I have never had such an awful professor. So awful that I dropped the class after a couple weeks. How is this guy still able to teach? He needs to stay in the lab and not talk to anybody ever. He acts like he is on a higher plane of existence than the rest of us. Maybe he's just mad that he was forced to teach here or something.

Absolutely dreadful. Writes everything in ALL CAPS. His critical thinking questions are impossible, and he answers all of them with "I do NOT understand __________." Very poor people skills. Do not take this class unless you have to.

Professor Mulkey is a complete jerk! He isn't clear on what he wants, he doesn't answer questions very well, and he gets angry at the smallest things. This was not a class that was required and I wish that I would have never taken it. I didn't enjoy the class at all.For a 100 level class it was very time consuming, harder than my 500 level classes!

This man is a complete and utter jerk. Never have I dealt with someone so rude and condescending. I understand that I am a non-major undergrad, but to be completely dismissed and told I was "wasting his time" when I sent an email for clarification is absolutely ridiculous. I absolutely detest this man.

One of the worst I've ever experienced. This person has no business teaching students. He needs to be in the lab far, far away from people. Not surprised he is still an associate professor.

Not much else to add, this guy is an enormous jerk that seems to get out of bed each day with the goal of being completely unbearable and condescending to students. It's a pretty easy class, but this guy really should be on a lab table somewhere because he's barely human.

I took Prof. Mulkey's Bio112 Lab class and his TA, for some strange unknown reason, absolutely hated everybody. She was always snappy and rude to all the students but especially the people at my lab table. When my lab partner went to talk to him about it, he just yelled at her. It's a good thing this class is only once a week, but I still dread it.

I took this course and the lab over the summer. He is extremely rude and has a general unwillingness to help a student. He says not to mistake his directness for rudeness, however he never learn the way to be direct without be rude. Also if you take this class online, everything is post at the beginning of the semester so work ahead!!

"Attendance" is posting discussion board answers to "Critical Thinking Questions" by 4:30 PM Friday, any later is a zero. If you don't answer exactly how he wants, he'll comment "Read the question". If you don't reply to him, it's also a zero. He doesn't give feedback or help at all and every DB is just repeating other students (no thought needed).

He is extremely rude! I would never suggest this class too anyone but if your a biology major, you might not have a choice but to take him because he is the only teacher that teaches the class. Also, theres an excessive amount of work due in every week!!!!! You have to constantly re-do assignments if he doesnt understand or cares for your post..

ADVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS! Extremely Rude, makes you feel dumb. Makes you constantly re-do work if he doesnt agree with you. I dont see how he is still a teacher. I would never take this class ever again. I have notice that there are quite a few teachers at ISU that they care if their students pass which quite sad, I regret transferring

Dr. Mulkey is the rudest professor I have ever had. He did not care about my grade or the fact that I was concerned about my grade. His responses to discussions often started with "I do not understand" or "NO" followed by everything you did wrong and not a single bit of guidance to the correct answer.

Terrible and heartless. Every Tuesday there was a quiz over notes and homework assignment. It was always a critical thinking question and he NEVER gave constructive criticism. He would say read the question or NO/WRONG. Had to quarantine during the semester and good luck getting any of your work without excessive proof. STUDY FOR TESTS.

I am taking this class online and have tried my hardest. I've had to write an assignment over and over trying to adjust to his critiquing. It almost never works. I thought if I study and try hard enough it would work. He gives me zeros for my responses. I try to add new information but then gives me a zero because he does not like it.

This is probably the worst professor I've ever had at ISU. His feedback on assignments is incredibly rude. If a student spoke to a professor that way it would be unacceptable. If your assignment is not what he expects or thinks is good enough, you get a zero. No partial credit for taking an hour or more to complete the assignment. He is the worst.
