He is amazing, I use to hate history, but he made it fun, he is such a good teacher, and if you just come to his class, then you will do fine on his test, he gives really good notes, and he goes at a good paste, definitelt take him if you can, i made an A in his class
He is very boring. his lectures are long and normally goes over because he is late for class. he flips out if you don't show up for class or you leave during class. He trys to be funny but he really isn't. Other than his class being boring and pointless it is an essay A.
He is one of my favorite professors I have had so far. He is one most interesting and witty lecturers I have witnessed at West GA. His test questions are very easy and straightforward, and he rewards you for showing up to class which is actually enjoyable at the same time.
No BS, that is how I would describe this guy. The class is not bad, he is a great lecturer. I could not fall asleep in this class if I tried! You have four test and four online reading quizes, and that is it! NO BS!
He is very boring! He has a southern accent that makes him sound like he doesn't know what he is talking about! He is wants you in class and if you leave he goes CRAZY! He is not that good of a teacher! He is always late to class and always goes over! And he says baseball coach's are dumb he talked about bufflo for 30 min! HATE THIS MAN
Great professor! I hate going to lecture classes for history because I usually fall asleep, but his lectures are great-- very interesting. He knows his history and tries to make it interesting and as easy to understand as possible. You have got to take him! Just pay attention, take notes, and read the textbook and you'll get an A!
I LOVE this guy!! I hope the university decides to keep him after he completes his dissertation and his defense. He is a NO BS guy!! His tests are straight-forward. He is spontaneously funny at times especially if someone comes in late. CASE in POINT: DO NOT COME IN LATE. He will rip you a new one!! I enjoyed watching these people get humiliated. S
Study and you'll get an EASY A!
his class is boring, i can hardly stay awake...he goes off onto a subject and you wonder why, he just talks about irrelevant topics at times and he always goes over, like he does care if you have another class or not
He is pretty cool. Don't be the third person late, he'll explode! Don't slam the door or walk in front of him! Overall he is great, but he does get off subject sometimes.
Definitely do not be late and/or slam the door, although he has absolutely no problem showing up five mins late every day and keeping the class five mins late cause he wants to get his 50 mins in.... but overall it's an easy class if you somewhat pay attention in class and way easy online quizzes
He shows up late for almost every class and whenever someone leaves early he has ALOT 2 SAY!!!..VERY BORING...wouldnt recommend him if you dont like history
Awesome Professor! The best lecturer at West Ga. His class is something you want to go to for the great stories he tells of history and how he puts it all together in a way that is understandable. He's available to us if we need help and the exams cover exactly what we talked about in class. Highly recommend Pitts, A++
he was awesome! he will tear you a new one for being late, but he is late most days. He can, he'e the Prof. He has a great sense of Humor and enjoys making the class fun. His lectures and text assignments are what are on the tests, so study. He isn't hard to understand and is very helpful when asked. He is a no BS type of guy. 3 thumbs up!
He is the worst professor I have ever seen. I have learnt nothing in his class. He likes to tell stories using grandiloquent language, which often ends up off topic. Halfway through the semester, we have barely finished two chapters. Also, despite his incompetence, he has a good bit of self-esteem. He always show up five minutes late.
Great professor. Attendance not mandatory, but you'll want to be there. He tells history as a story rather than just random facts, so it's easy to remember and keep in chronological order in your mind. If you want to goof off or are addicted to your cell phone/texting, don't take his class. As others have said, he's no BS. I highly recommend him.
He is awesome! He makes everything interesting. As long as you go to class, you will pass! He is a great teacher!
Alright teacher, tells it like a story and holds interest but it makes it difficult to take coherent notes. Hes got quite a little attitude, even telling one kid to "get the hell out of my class" for showing up late, so if you're late, don't even go, trust me its not a big deal. Wikipedia the study guide the night before the test and you're good.
Pretty good teacher with interesting lectures most of the time. There are 3 tests and a final with a couple quizzes here and there, all which were pretty easy if you went to class and read his handouts. Don't be late to his class or use your phone, if you treat him well he will treat you well. He likes to make jokes and is pretty nice unless upset.
Very easy going professor who makes class interesting. He always shows up late for class and usually lets out a minute or two late. His class is like listening to a story the whole time. Do not use your phone or sign the role and then leave because he will fail you!
Keeps it interesting, tells it like a story
He is interesting. Never took him for survey classes but sure he is better prepared. Any history majors who are planning on taking him for an upper level just be warned he was never to prepared for class. It was boring and a disappointment. I felt as though I did not learn much like I was hoping too. But a very nice guy.
Really liked professor Pitts class. He teaches lecture style. Doesnt really use powerpoints, just talks the whole time. Teaches in the form of a story. Test are pretty fair. Online quizzes about every 2-3 weeks. Phones are a no-no wit ths teacher! Will call u out in front of the whole class for using them. But i definitely reccomend this teacher.
I really enjoyed his class. He is very funny and all his stories are interesting. He lets you know exactly what he wants and as long as you pay attention you will learn everything perfectly. I would recommend taking him.
Dr. Pitts is a great guy, but should not teach upper level classes. The man would forget his head if it wasnt attached and hes always late! So if your running behind because you parked in BFE, dont worry, you will still beat him to class. Hes pretty laid back in his teaching style. He has a passion for history. hes not the worst or the best. 50/50
I made a B in this course only because I didn't go to every class. The tests are a challenge, but not incredibly difficult. Take advantage of online quizzes! It was hard for me to take notes because his lectures are so interesting! I would recommend him to anyone who isn't a history major.
I'm going to be honest, professor pitts was an interesting professor. He would constantly tell stories that were interesting but had nothing to do with US History. His test were ok. Not to hard not to easy. Take advantage of the online quizzes! They help alot. And one more thing, please do not txt during his class bcuz he will call u out.
Pitts is a great professor. You just have to come to class an pay attention. Unlike me who ended up with a C but whatever. Take him he'll make you appreciate history more.
Best prof at UWG all you have to do is go to class and take notes and study a little bit and you are almost guaranteed an A. This obviously sounds like too much work for some people. However, if you aren't a complete mongoloid and actually enjoy attending the classes that you pay for this is the best class that you will ever take...believe it
He is one of the best professors I have had so far. You can tell he enjoys history and has a passion for it. Its a lecture class and if you are not into those then you probably shouldn't take his class but all in all he is pretty cool.
AMAZING PROFESSOR, He is a great guy. Passionate about history, and knows his stuff. He does talk about black history a lot in class, and mainly focuses on the south, but that is his specialty and he really does the topic justice. One of the best history professors I have ever had!
I love this guy!!!!!!!! My favorite teacher. if u go to class and take notes and note study you can get an easy B if you study a easy A. Made history fun for me !
Best teacher. He is very passionate about what he says & talks in circles sometimes but he's legit. Tests are easy. Reading quizzes are a tad difficult as the writing is higher level but if you're going to go to class, take him!
Great professor. Really knows his material, especially post-civil war mayhem. Tests are super easy. Reading quizzes are a breeze. All in all, a really great professor.
I didn't care for history before this class. I actually learned a lot after 1865 with Dr. Pitts. He's great! Also very funny and has a bunch of stories to tell.
fairly easy teacher, attendence not require, (however i recommend)very straight forward but he rambles and gets off topic alot. besides knowing exactly what info to know/read for the online quizzes, the test and quizzes are pretty easy but you MUST read!!!!
This guy is pretty easy HOWEVER, he rambles about slavery sooo often that you don't learn much else. That would be ok if it were the only thing covered on tests, but it's definitely not. And don't ever let him see you nod off or touch your phone. He loves to call you out and talk about how mad he is for at least 10 minutes.
He is by far one of the worst teachers I have had. I studied so hard for every test and the highest grade I have received is a 70. He only gives 4 grades, and of them are test grades. I don't suggest that you take him.
Don't recommend! Rambles on like everyone on here says. Gets off topic easily & hard to follow. What he talks about in lecture doesn't match up with the book. If you want your GPA to drop tremendously and loose your HOPE as well then this class is for you. Have a great day.
If you go to class and listen you should at least pass with a B. Its really hard to understand if miss multiple classes. Sometimes he goes off topic. Recommend scanning through the chapters before the test. Tests are straight forward. Nothing tricky about them. You either know it or you don't.
This class was pretty straight foward. Attendance is not mandatory. But, if you want to pass you must go to class. He does not post any powerpoints on courseden but he does use them sometimes in class. You have to write down everything he says because those will be your notes to study from. There are 3 tests and a reading assignment.
The guy IS a walking study guide. Just write down notes, study them use the book now an then when you're looking up event you might have missed. He's pretty chill and he sends out an email of the study guide and everything is on there. The test are really simple too if you study.
easy class, attendance not mandatory.
While attendance is NOT mandatory, you will not do well if you do not go to class. A lot of his test questions come from what he lectured on RATHER than the text only. No papers, 3 tests w/ 50 questions & interesting lecture style. Easy-pizy!
At first, I hated Professor Pitts. But now at the end of the semester, I came to really like him. He does not take attendance and does not give any assignments. Gives about 4 exams and on all made about a B average. His lectures are very long but he is passionate about them. Also, do not get on his bad side. He treats everyone like adults.
no powerpoints. take notes on everything he is saying.
This class is very easy if you go to class. The tests will be easy if you pay attention to his lectures. He even gives you a study guide for the test.
He tends to ramble on and gets off topic a lot. He's like a walking book of history. He gives you so much detail about stuff you don't need to know that you get lost in the lecture. He gives you a study guide before the test but it is just a list of information you need to know and some of it he did not go over. He sounds like a preacher speaking.
He is a very nice guy, but he is a mess. First test had only 1 chapter to cover the next had 5 because he was running so far behind. You have to take notes, you don't need the book at all, the book website was helpful with flash cards but that is about it. Study guide is just an outline of notes. If you miss class just make sure and get the notes
Mr Pitts is awesome! One of the best teachers I've had. The first test is challenging, but the rest are easy if you study. He is a smart a**, so if you don't like that then don't take his class. All around great teacher.
His lectures are very long, but always pay attention. You really need to listen to and write down almost everything he says. He tells you to buy the book, but honestly, test material was never from the book. Lectures can get boring, but he definitely knows his subject material. Tests are easy if you attend class every time and study lecture notes.
YOU MUST GO TO CLASS IN ORDER TO DO WELL ON TESTS! He does not have bullet points on his powerpoints. You have to write down what you hear him say in class. Also, there are three exams. They are all multiple choice tests. There may be a chance for extra credit during the semester. He is pretty simple. He doesn't ask for a lot.
Professor Pitts simply lectures off the top of his head. He SOMETIMES puts up a slide from a PowerPoint but not often. You'll want to take as many notes as possible if you can keep up. His tests aren't too difficult if you study. You'll want to read or look over the 6+ study guide (if he provides one) if you don't get many notes. Don't skip!
Excellent teacher if you come to class and pay attention, you must take notes in order to do well in the class, but the study guides are just like test. They are not difficult if you study. Attendance doesn't count and there is no homework, but there are only four tests so you have to do good on those four tests. He makes history interesting.
His test are pretty easy if you read the book. Lectures take the whole class period and he sometimes gets off topic. There are no powerpoints so you have to write notes by the oral lecture. You have four test so do well on those because there is no homework or quizes.
Clear on instructions, read chapters, and do study guide you'll be fine
He only has 3 tests and a final(not cumulative) MUST GO TO CLASS. He only lectures with very few PowerPoints so everything is listening and taking notes. Tests are not too difficult and all multiple choice. He is old-school- no courseden and no papers. Very dry humor and rough personality, but just go to class and study. Should make an A
He's a great professor. The lectures are long so be prepared to stay the whole time. Take good notes because he puts up a few slides here and there. He makes class fun by cracking jokes or adding things here and there. Going to SI helps A LOT. IF you want an A study and go to SI sessions. I would take him again If I could.
First off, Professor Pitts is hilarious. However, it is imperative that you take good notes and pay attention to his lectures to do well on his exams. This is a test-based course. There are a total of 4 exams, which includes the final. I highly recommend that you attend SI sessions, they are very helpful!
This is an easy class if you go to class. He has 4 test and does provide study guides. I barely even used the book. Even though attendance isn't mandatory going to class helps because most of his test questions come from his lectures.
this class is a lecture class, so all he does is talk the entire time and you take notes on what he says. He tends to spend too much time explaining an example rather than useful information. come to class or you will be very lost. He can be kind of a smart ass at times but he is nice. whole class is based off of three tests which are fairly easy
Lectures and nothing else.
He doesn't require much of anything. The textbook is optional and he's very sarcastic but in a funny good way. The entirety of the test is what you learn in lecture, take really good notes, that will determine how well you do on the tests. He's very chill and SI is a great help.
Lectures the entire class every class. Takes him at least a week to get through one small topic. Super boring. Attendance is not mandatory. If you want to do well, you have work really hard, or memorize the textbook. Multiple choice tests.
Pitts was a good professor for the most part. There was a total of four tests and one was online. His tests can be difficult if you don't study!!! He lectures the entire time with no powerpoints... be ready to take notes.
Mr. Pitts gets easily hung up on a topic and will spend a few weeks on it. The tests are straightforward though and if you read the textbook you will get through them. No PowerPoints, only lecture so be ready to take as many notes as possible. Four tests determine your grade.
Funny, but serious when lecturing. 4 test and that was it.
Lecture, Lecture, Lecture. Be prepared and come to class. It will be worth it I'm telling you. Pay attention and get a study buddy or attendent friend. There are 2 tests/1 quiz/1 final. Don't play around. I didn't buy the textbook, lectures are the main strategy here. Take good notes. He is a great professor and loves history so he gets excited lol
Great personality & strong country accent. He knows a lot about US History. Rarely there are PowerPoint slides on what to know for upcoming tests. Constitution Exam (online) is an easy 100 , grade booster. 4 tests in total.
I rarely attended class and still made an A, only 4 tests but one is online, study guides are exactly what is on the test and can be completed with the textbook and youtube videos
Genuinely one of the best professors I've had in the past 3 years. Show up to class, be involved, take good notes and study hard. You'll make an A without even realizing it. He has very great life lessons in his lectures, and he makes even the most mundane topics seem like a national treasure to hear about. Great Professor, wish he had more classes
Loved this class! Not a history major but he made the class super interesting. I learned so much about US history and enjoyed learning it. Funny guy. Gives you 3 tests and a paper which are all easy if you pay attention. Hates cellphones. He does show some graphic images so if you can't handle things like that you may not want to take him.
Easy A if you come to class, take good notes, and read everything in the text book. However, he takes about two weeks to grade anything and will spend weeks on one single chapter. He tends to go off topic almost every class and gives way more information than you need to know on the test. Lectures the entire class.
Total we only had 3 things graded. 2 tests and then the final. Luckily he gave a essay that was extra credit that brought my grade from a 40 to a 50. I went to his office hours concerned because I had to make a C in his class. He offered an Essay Final instead of the regular tests because Im not a strong test taker and was lucky I made a C.
He is very nice however he tends to get off topic a lot in lecture, causing a lot of people to not come to class. However, I suggest going to class no matter what even if he is boring. I was not doing so well on the tests but his extra credit helped me tons. Go to his office hours as well for help as well.
We only had three things total for our overall grade, 2 test and the final. Gets totally off topic during lectures.
This professor/class is super easy. Attendance is not mandatory, however, if you choose not to go, (like many did) then when test day comes you are likely to be completely lost. I passed with an A solely by coming and paying attention. You are graded by 2 tests and a non cumulative final. There is also an extra credit opportunity. A very easy A.
he gets behind schedule, but does not hold it against you. which makes you responsible for less work, we only got through 8 of 15 chapters for the whole semester. he offered extra credit: a 1000 paper. If you just take notes in class you will pass the test. all questions are from lectures. there are two tests and one final that is NOT accumulative
A solid choice for a history class. Show up, listen, take notes, study the notes. 9 times out of 10 he gets behind on his exam/lecture schedule and might have you read/study a chapter by yourself, but it's not a hard class at all. He gives you a study guide and if you know it, then you pass the tests and get an A in the class. Straightforward.
BORING!!!! I could barely stay awake during class. I think I was able to stay awake maybe 2 days out of the whole semester. He doesn't use power points, he just talks and goes on way too many tangents. I would just avoid at all cost, unless you know your history.
Graded on very few things, so you have to make sure that you know the study guides to pass the exams. The lectures are extremely dry, so most of the class just decided to skip. You end up teaching yourself from the study guides, and you can still pass the class. Basically paying for the grade, not the class
His class was not easy in my opinion and his lectures were very boring but he tried to throw a joke or two in there. They weren't funny to me and I guess if you want to pass you have to really listen and pay attention in class. We had three tests and a final and literally that was it.
He's a pretty chill dude, but if you suffer from ADHD or you just have problems paying attention to someone talking for a long time, then he is not your man. He rarely uses slides; he's more of a fan of talking. He hates phones! His test study guide answers can be found on quizlet. You should attend class even if it's boring!
requires textbook only for reading at home that is not assigned. His lectures are more like preaching about a topic, and then you read the rest of the chapter at home or figure it out yourself. Always behind the syllabus schedule so tests are pushed back a week. Never takes attendance and does not care if you are there. Tells a lot of dad jokes.
Don't need to show up but if do this you MUST have a textbook. I had one and only showed up on test day. Read all the pages he gives before test and you will be fine. Most of the stuff is review from middle and high school anyways. 3 test and a final and your highest test score is counted twice (this is your extra credit). Lectures are boring too.
He's great ! Class is optional you could skip and just read the book and be fine. If you got to class he just lectures with few ppw slides so you need to listen but he tells you when to write down the big stuff. Makes lots of jokes. Would definitely take him again.
Be prepared to read. If you do not want to read DO NOT take his class. If you do everything he says with effort, it is not hard to receive an A. I would take him again.
Professor Pitts is a very nice gentleman. He genuinely loves Georgia history... He just loves his sports more. Very easily distracted and frequently sails down side trails that have nothing to do with the subject. We were not able to stay on schedule at all and assignment due dates were constantly changing. He is a tough grader.
Professor Pitts isnt a bad guy in the slightest, but his lectures are extremely boring. I nearly fell asleep every lecture. Luckily he doesnt care about attendance and you can get all the info from the online textbook, which has tons of reading so be prepared for that. So, if you dont mind reading non stop hes the man for you.
This was an easy class however he is lecture heavy and doesn't post any lecture content on courseden so if you don't show up you'll miss a lot of info. There was only 3 tests given on courseden. We used this system called LaunchPad which is where the textbook and several assignments are but it's free.
Professor Pitts was an amazing professor. Sorry to say that during the lectures it was hard not to just fall asleep. The material he was explaining wasn't bad it's just his voice was always melotone and was hard to keep focused. The assignments were straightforward and there are 3 tests and an essay as the final. Not a bad class.
He loves what he does!
If your looking for an easy class this is the one. Most of the answers to the test can be found online. If you go to class the lectures are good it's like he is telling a story.
