No complaints about his class. The only complaints I have heard are due to his long lectures. His lectures are very engaging though and he is total eye candy. Very easy to get a good grade. Do the reading and you will pass the quizzes, 6 525 word papers to complete throughout the semester are easy to pass and the midterm is easy if you're prepared.

professor rose is a great teacher, but to get a good grade in the class, you definitely have to work for it. . weekly assignment load consists of readings and an essay (along with 5 historical lit. essays you have to turn in by the end of the course), so it can get heavy. but organization, communication and course content is top notch.

This class involves heavy reading and a lot of writing - it's very challenging... but also very rewarding. I feel so fortunate to have taken this class with Rose. He's a brilliant educator, he takes a really active role in class discussions and provides so much clarity. The reading includes a lot of fascinating primary sources. Highly recommended.

I cannot fault him for his methods, however I warn you, they are something akin to brute force. You're just going to read a LOT, and write WAAY more than even that. If you want to actually know your material, his class is well worth it. If you just need a grade, steer clear. Either way, be sure to read the rubrics, and not to overwork yourself.

Prof Tim is great. Very invested in the class. Well-organized and excellent course materials. Good use of multimedia. Involved discussions. I appreciate what we learned and how we learned it. The class also helped me get ready for my upcoming citizenship test.

I'm pretty sure he writes his own reviews because his class is just difficult. He uses AI Detect generator for his discussion post although, it was proven the website is not 100% correct. If you receive a little percentage he still gives you a zero. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR IF YOU CAN! His class is hard and difficult for a GE course.

There's a lot of good reviews here which is kind of concerning since his class is just bad. I took his course last semester and if you miss one attendance he grades your discussion post a zero, even if you send an email that you're sick. As a student, this class is not worth the time since he makes his grading complicated.

Insanely harsh grader. Is paranoid of students using AI and is constantly accusing students even in discussion boards of all their work being AI generated. If you can choose another professor don't let these good reviews fool you!

Looked up my professor and was kind of confused when I saw he had a 4.9. His class is extremely hard and demanding, you have to be ready to do a ton of extra work, and he's quick to embarrass other students by posting if their posts are AI. His rubric is very harsh so don't take this class if you want a relatively easy grade!

You have to read entire OpenStax history chapters along with additional material and 2-3 hour documentaries every week. After that you have to participate actively in discussions with insane rubrics and write 5 essays throughout the semester. All the writings require huge effort. For a 3 unit semester, the workload is definitely very imbalanced.

Don't cheat. Be prepared to do college-level work. Students can learn a whole lot of history. And improve writing skills. Both challenging and rewarding.

Professor's Tim Rose “History of the U.S to 1877” college course was a great introduction of what the word looked like before colonisation and what factors caused it. Trustworthy and reliable sources were given to us. I also liked how he made the grading policy very clear and the way discussion forums worked; making it very easy to work with.

Two 800 - 1000 word essays due by the first two weeks instructions are not very clear and if work does not meet rubric 100% you will get a zero. At this point in my life could not afford to spend 10+ hours on an essay to not get any credit. If you have a busy schedule do not take this class.

Professor Rose is not only a wonderful and considerate professor. He is also very accessible for those students who have disabilities. The man is compassionate and down to earth and can explain just about anything if given the amount of time that is proper for the explanation office hours are a must get to know him. You will be happy that you did.

Its actually insane. His whole class set up is very NOT user friendly, SOO many things to keep track of. I had to reread the syllabus 5 times, and had to bring my UCB bf w a history Bach to help me understand it and even HE says it's hard. Stuff that won't even be used if you want to transfer. Unnecessarily complicated for both teacher and student.
