Great Prof
a friggin loser when it comes to homework, acts like everyone is cheating when they're not - dont take him if u dont know anything with computers
Great professor. Can really teach, will teach you what you need to know to continue CS Major, unlike some other profs. Highly recommended.
Worst teacher i have ever had in my life. im not even going to get into why he is the worst. just take my word for it.
He goes over everything several times so there are no reasons why people should NOT pass his class, unless they just don't do his homework, which is easy. If you do all off his homework and the project, you don't have to get good grades on the exams to pass his class.
He's funny in a quirky way...first half of class is easy, just do your homework...he's a hard grader. Last half-programming-is awful. He tried, but just couldn't make me understand.
BE PREPARED TO TAKE AT LEAST 15 PAGES OF NOTES PER CLASS. HE IS VERY HARD ON GRADING. SEVERAL STUDENTS DROPPED OUT BY THE 3RD CLASS. HE IS NOT VERY CLEAR WHEN EXPLAINING THINGS AND MOVES TO QUICKLY.
There is a lot of note-taking in this class. He makes a boring subject not as boring. Nice guy, helpful.
if there is another csc110 teacher i would recomment taking him/her over seaman. I thought some of his grading proceedures were very unfair, tests come from computer software accessable from computer lab. need to come to class, need to pay attention, need to do mucho homework.
Easy class, fair prof. I don't know how people find it difficult. He starts by telling students where to find the mouse and the keyboard. Easy even if you don't know computers well. Just do all your work and you will do fine!

This teacher was really mean, I really didn't like him.
i have never had a worse professor in my life and wish i had a different faculty advisor. he is about as helpful in computer science as the confusing book. he teaches the high level concepts well but lacks in the syntax of the computer languages he teaches. if i can, i will never take any of his classes ever again. He is NOT fair.
this teacher was very unfair and did not feel he had done his job if you did well in his class. i personally believe he is a woman hater as he is always talking down to women in the class but jokes and laughs with the males. would not recommend taking any of his classes!
Professor Seaman is extremely smart and definately knows Math. He is a great teacher. I would not recommend him once a week at night. Try to take this class atleast three days a week. I dont think he was extremely fair with the way that he graded tests. He does not work with the individual very well. In class he is great. Good luck in 163!
Horrible, bad, terrible, awful teacher! I've never made a B in my life but this jerk gave me a C. I spent hours and hours studying for exams and still got 60's. He enjoys failing students. Run, dont walk from his class. You'll probably end up droping out, most people did. Save your time and money, look elsewhere.
You'd have to be a total putz not to pass this class. He's goes over things over and over and over. I didn't know it was possible to talk about arrays for 4 hours. The hardest part of this class was the mandatory attendence. Someone mentioned that he's a woman hater, but I didn't notice. Guess that depends on if you're a bubblehead.
I dont like him at all. Watching paint dry, or grass grow is more interesting then watching him.
Run..Don't take him. I haven't taken him due to bad ratings he received from students. He doesn't try to help his students understand Algebra-tells them to withdraw. Says he can help you. Don't waste your time, gpa, or money.
He gets very upset when a student boy or girl get up in the middle of class to use the restroom never try to use the restroom while class is in session. He will flip out!
It's pretty bad when half of the class fails. He recommends if you bomb the first exam that you either withdrawl, sign up when you have more time, and/or get help from the math/writing center. Let me tell you, you'll be spending every waking moment there and studing. He does nothing to help you. If you want to pass, sign up for anyone but him.
This guy is too unfair. The class i take is supposed to be an introduction to programming. This guy wants his students to fail and asks them to drop the class. He could care less about you or your grade. Do not watse your time or money. The class is hard for students who are seasoned programmers. Just trust my word and those of others, AVOID HIM!
Run while you can....will not answer your emails if you have a question and will not explain if you ask in person. Expects you to learn the materiel yourself and don't get me started on his grading. Would not recommend this professor to anyone. I am usually pretty good in math but came out of this class very frustrated.
Do not take his CSC201 or above unless you live and breath computer programming. Despite what it says this is for experts only, or people who have worked in the field. Teacher tells you to your face to drop the class if you get less than a B on the midterm. Midterms and Finals are unreasonable (writing full page programs, and have them work).
Mr. Seaman requires Java Programming in his course however they are not manditory for the course. Aside from learning the basics the programming is a real hassel esspecial to someone is not a computer science major.also very strict on homework, you need to memorize java source code to pass. waste of time if your not a C.S./Programing major.
He drifts off topic and isn't able to work with students. I had to drop his class because he was just too much. Overall good person just bad teacher.
Dr. Seaman truly had the most absurd grading system I have ever seen. He literally forces people into what letter grade he thinks they should be based on things that don't have anything to do with how well you are learning the material. He also hates for people to use the bathroom while he's teaching.
His grading system was completely absurd.
This class was horrible. He hands out the sylabus which says the text requirements are just the math book. Then requires the Math Lab CD after the fact. I bought a used book, which didnt come with the CD, to save money. Then I'm required to buy the CD. I might as well have bought the new book so I could make more when I sold it back.
Dr. Timothy Seaman is a really good teacher. He explains clearly and is there if you need him. Although he does wonder off topic, he still is Respectful. I have had no issues using the restroom or leaving early. Note: Attendance is very important and is a requirement for his class
I really did not like Dr.Seaman. He was not easy to understand and when I tried to ask him for help he basically told me I was too stupid for this class, which was not true. Steer clear of him, he tries to joke, but all that he gets from us is silence. He is really an odd ball, some of my class mates called him the Hitler of math.
I think Dr. Seaman is an excellent professor. He may be tough but he is very strict on his subject. You have to do all the assignments to stay in the course. Also, attendance is mandatory! If you need help, he is always there to assist!
For those who are new to programming, this class is hard to pass! He does teach from the book and gives out good lectures but he gives out assignments that are really hard and challenging! He does expect a lot that you know the assignments and the lecture! Study hard and you'll pass!
Great teacher. He is very clear in his lectures and is very helpful. He uses dry humor and funny examples to help understand the text. Two Thumbs Up!
Dr. Seaman is too tough! Homework is easy but his tests are super hard. He doesn't even care about his own students. This guy just expects too much! If you want to get a better grade, find someone else and save your time and money!!!!
Had him for both computer science and math and he is too tough on math than he is with comp sci. If I were you, don't take his math class but rather his computer science class. He is a nice guy though but just tough!
This teacher is not helpful at all. He doesn't clarify anything he teaches. And if you need help, don't bother asking. He has no hope in his students. He is very hard and his test are out of this world. If you want to pass math, I suggest you take another teacher.
Personally Dr. Seaman may be a tough professor but he is a really good teacher. He is always available in his office willing to help. As long as your read ahead of lecture, take notes, and read back the lecture, you'll be fine. Tests is what mostly counts on your grade so study hard on those!!!!
The quizzes are very easy. The 3 exams are not easy and long. The final is hard. Do and understand all the assignments, you will get an A.
He is very disrespectful. He will not help you with anyting. He picks on people and is very corny. He is a good teacher but bad personality. He is very disliked. I wish I knew these things before taking his class. I have totally wasted my money and probably will not pass because he does not like me at all.
Dr. Seaman is a nice teacher but he is really hard. I reccomend that you take his class only if you have no life. He always gives a ton of homework. For Midterms, we had to study over 400 questions, only of which we were going to be tested on only 60. He is not very good at explaining things but he does try his best to help though.
Prof Seaman is very difficult. He expected so much and treated a CSC 110 class like it was a computer major's class. He grades very harshly but doesnt explain very well. I would not reccommend him to anyone.
He isn't a mean teacher, nor is he really strict. He will let you turn in maybe 1-3 assignments a week late. He is kind of boring and dry, but he does know his stuff. If you're having reservations about taking his class, just know that it is passable. Just do the work, save the processing files, and know that he uses the same dry joke everyday.
He wasnt as awful as people say he his but he expects you to do what full time student should be doing even though it sometimes may not be possible but if you do your work hes pretty happy with you and hes relaxed about lateness and absences
He's a really good teacher. I don't know why a lot of people don't like him. His dry humor is pretty amazing, and he always walks through the lessons slowly (in the beginning) to make sure everyone gets it. Later on he moves a little faster, but still not bad.
Dr. Seaman knows his subjects and is fairly good at teaching his subjects as well. His classes are passable. I was forced to drop out of math class and barely got away with a B in computer class. Straight A's before this, he IS a hard professor. Can only miss 12% of his classes or you will be dropped. Homework judged harshly. Don't mess around.
This is my second time around with Dr. Seaman. he is a good teacher and knows his math and he will help you when you do not understand the material but if you just cant understand him then you usually go to the textbook but the text he chose for this course was poor its very brief and probably confuses people even more if they do not know the topic
Dr Seaman is a very good professor; he wants you to learn the material and do well. He does rush through the lesson sometimes and if you dont understand he will answer questions but isnt always clear. be prepared to learn tough material on your own. overall great professor and really funny.
Dr. Seaman was very rude to me as a student. He doesn't collect homework or give much practice-besides take home quizzes. The tests are heavily weighted towards your grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM! He doesn't even answer a simple question specifically!
If you take him you will be miserable! Good luck!
Homework, Classwork, and Take home quizzes barely count as anything. Basically to pass his class you have to pass the test, so not rely on the assignments to help your grade. He keeps the class interesting though, but if you are not good at math, do not take math with him.
He doesn't engage the class at all. He just dumps all the work on Pearson Math Lab. Lectures are very dry. He will accept a late physical quiz but not an online one which bugs me.. Once it concerns Pearson Math Lab he doesn't help at all. Would not recommend.
Dr. Seaman, in my few weeks of having him as my professor shows motivation toward the vast field that is Computer Science. I wouldn't say he is a hard grader as others have, but more accurately that he grades fairly, and the subject matter required that you pay lots of attention. He cracks jokes now and then and is generally likeable in my opinion.
This class was really difficult for me he makes you turn your homework in by noon the day before the class which didn't work with my schedule. He cracks some jokes and is pretty fair with grades, but you need to do homework early.
Try not to fall asleep, have the stuff he says is pretty confusing, your better off just reading the book and trying to get it, if you focus hard enough and ask lots of questions Im sure you will do fine, but as for me ? ill be retaking this
I couldn't believe when I saw his ratings. May be he is a different professor. However, this guy was born to be Math professor. Seriously, with his artistic graphing skills and crystal clear way of teaching, he made every class amazing. I took MTH277 with another professor which I failed but I got an A with him.
I honestly did not believe that I could learn programming and when I signed up for his class I thought it might be my last one in computer science. Boy was I wrong! Really made it easy to understand what programming is through challenging but doable programs. If you are worried about Comp Sci, take Seaman. You need to read the book though!
Professor Seaman is a funny guy. He likes to crack jokes in class while teaching to make sure you're paying attention. He uses python so be ready for that. Sometimes he goes a little fast, but you get a 10 min break. Also DO the HOMEWORK! He's a stickler for getting your homework done. Other than that the class is alright.
Was amusing and an amiable teacher; his only downside was that he taught Python while all other CSC classes teach Java. This class may set you up with a bit of extra work if you don't take his course for other CSC classes, but the conversion of Java to Python isn't challenging. Most work is home, lectures are understandable, some tangents, but fine
HORRIBLE!!! If you don't understand he's not helpful at all! He gives you 4 chances to turn in late hw and if you give hw in late like a few minutes after class starts it counts as late then he can kick you out of the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Honestly, I don't know where to begin. Tests, so difficult, homework, long and hard. He treated this INTRO class like it was a masters Computer Science class. Long boring lectures, where he went by so quick. Would'n't explain to well afterwards and just confused people more. Had to go to literally every office hour to pass. Save yourself, dont take
Didn't understand material he was teaching, homework was okay. exams are tough. lectures are long and boring.
Only take him if there's no alternative, save yourself before its too late. Literally aced through Calculus 1 +2 but had a tough time pulling a "D" and now i have to retake the class. His method of lecturing is impossible to learn from, the constant pausing to see how he messed up with the consistent mistakes he makes confuses you. DIFFICULT EXAMS!
Lots and lots of programs, but that is normal for a CS course. He only gives two exams, a midterm and a final which are incredibly difficult. The programs are long and he offers little to no help on them. He only allows you to miss a couple classes without taking points off. Lectures are long, boring, and are in monotone. Better CS teachers out the
Professor Seaman's grading scale is 90% tests and 10% quizzes. Throughout the course he was monotone and consistently made mistakes. His teaching methods are not clear and his test material doesnt match the notes or optional homework. He is a great man and has a brilliant mind, but he cannot convey the material to his classes. Stay away at all cost
Great guy, not so good as a professor. He's very smart but cannot relay it to students. Passed Calc 1/2 with a B/A respectively, D in Calc 3. Avoid if possible. Tests are 90% of your grade, 4 tests at 60% and 1 final at 30%. No review, no calculator, no formula sheet. Final is cumulative, tells you multiple concepts for test only does 3-4 on test.
Tests and quizzes make up for 90% of your grade. A ton of homework for only 5 percent of your grade. Minimum of 30 question per section with multiple parts for each question due by the next class. Don't take!!
His lectures can be extremely long and boring. It is understandable that everybody makes mistakes, but some of the mistakes he makes is questionable for someone who is hired to teach computer science. His homework is incredibly easy and does not track you reading, however it is recommended if you want to actually learn something.
very smart and he knows his stuff. He tries to get the class more engaged by telling jokes. However, honestly, i would only recommend him if your good at math and you like figuring stuff out on your own. Lots of homework, bought my grade down cause it's too much to do. Tests are fair and are easier , he only tests on the basic stuff. Not lenient.
Professor Seaman's lectures are read from the slides which come from the book. He reads from the slides the entire class and you are better off reading the book. Nothing seems original except for his corny jokes about water being vodka. If you like hearing an audio book (the professor) for your lectures everyday, this is the class for you.
In his class we don't go over things . he moves on to the next chapter very fast and when he gives the homework the next class he doesn't go over it. the homework is based on the materials that he teach in the class. if your not in class you won't be able do to your homework. he doesn't spend as much time to go over materials
Oh Hell no! This professor might be great to some eyes but through mine he is piss poor
He comes into class and just reads off the slides then gives you an assignment to write a tough program every week.
Worst professor ever. Lectures are long, boring, monotone, as he just reads off the slides and goes off on tangents that don't have anything to do with the class. He is a tough grader and takes off points for programs willynilly, without providing a rubric. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I will barely pull through with a C.
This class was a very boring class because of the lack of interaction and stimulating activities. Lectures are read straight from the slides which makes the class dry, monotone, and quite brain numbing. Assignments are given and they are fairly easy. If you want to be engaged in the class, this prof. does not help at all with that.
In CSC 200, he was a good teacher in my opinion, if you had a bit of background knowledge. I've worked with computer languages before (only a little) but it helped a lot figuring out the activities he gave us. Be prepared! He's not bad, just tough.
Worst Prof ever
Really bad
Prof. Seaman is a nice Calculus 3 teacher. Its a hard class, but he makes the problems easy. He just tests you on the concepts, so just gotta study them. The homework helps a whole lot, and his grading is pretty fair. I'd take him again.
Boring lectures, no interaction at all, just him talking in a monotone voice for 2 hours straight. extremely nit-picky and tough grader. As a novice who had worked in this field before this should have been an easy A for me but he took off points wherever he could. only take if you like getting penalized and demotivated
While the weekly homework provide enough of a challenge to test knowledge, the lack of additional exercises to prepare you for the midterm and final makes the course particularly difficult.
This guy is a joke of a teacher. hardest part about class is not the actual content, but trying to figure out what the hell he even wants from you. Seriously, you have to ask him specifics for every assignment, since they are all so vague and poorly propositioned. In the end, he will just deduct you points in any way he can find. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He just reads over powerpoints and does not give clear explanation on a lot of terms. Lectures are just watching him code or him reading from the textbook, very vague, be prepared to teach yourself a lot.
Please do not take him, the only class I would recommend from him is CSC 200. 90% of my classmates from 201 did not take him for 202. Overall, if you want to feel mentally drained then take him.
Do not take this professor. He took so many points off for little mistakes and doesn't explain his lectures well at all. There was no collaboration allowed in this class so we had to do everything on our own. I've been programming for 5 years and I'm struggling in this class. Should have been an easy A.
Professor Seaman has made me lost interest in computer science. The lecture was boring and it gets hard really fast. He would take off points from assignments and never specify why he take off points. If you do not have years of experience with coding, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Can't explain things clearly. The class was super boring and had a lot of bad jokes. But I would say he really loves what he teaches.
