A very unclear and lazy teacher. Doesnt really answer your questions. Doesnt seem to be flexible with anything and isn't understand that us students are people.
cool guy, will talk about chapelle's show. Will kick your ass via teaching.
very funny guy, but hard material
easy a
He is a very interesting teacher and is an easy easy grader... he gave us many quizes that just involved us showing up so we would get 10 pts for being there! he also curves everything too! he wants you to get a good grade in the class and he relates more
Best teacher i have ever had.. makes it so interesting.
Material is college level and he tries to make it easy to comprehend. The online course I took with this instructor seemed reasonable and the grades were fair, although he never responded to my emails and the grades were posted much later than they were submitted.

Funny guy. Dry and sarcastic. Enjoyable even when the subject wasn't.
Good teacher. Helpful, and easy to understand
Awesome Teacher!!! If you are in class, pay attention, and study minimally you will do fine! He's very helpful and it's a great class. A lot of laughs... it's a good time!
I am taking Intro to Ethics this summer with Tim and love it. He has a great way of teaching, he gets to the point, makes you think, and is fun all at the same time! Reading philosopher's essays/articles can be very tedious at times and if you don't get it, he breaks it down and you get it!
Great Teacher... really nice and funny! Definitely take one of his classes.
Interesting class...took online. Do the work and you'll be fine.
Great teacher I had him for philosophy....lots of writing and thinking outside ur normal views but he gets u thinking in ways u would not have. He is very insightful, helpful and makes class fun too!! I loved his class and he was a blast too TAKE HIS CLASS!
Has a great personality, engaging teaching style, and succeeds in bringing the lofty concepts of philosophy down to earth. Would back him 100%!
Took eastern philosophy with him. You gotta do the work, but if you can handle that, excellent instructor. Very easy to understand, keeps you thinking at all times (even when outside of class), and has a great personality and sense of humor. Thanks to Tim, I think I'm starting to turn into a Buddhist. Highly recommended!
Great teacher, very entertaining! Funny and makes the class so interesting!!! You have to read and truly understand what he is teaching for a good grade, but he really makes you think!!!
very confusing. When he did right stuff on the board it was totally unreadable cause he such terrible hand writing.
great professor. I learned so much in his class, and really appreciated the class time. He was a tough grader, but it was worth it. I also loved the textbook we had; it made everything so much easier with the annotations.
Tim was wondrful and entertaining. He could relate our topics and discussion to real world examples which made the material easy to learn. He is fun to watch, and you can tell when he's thinking but never what he's thinking. Prove to him that you care, and do the work, prove that you do the work, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, you suffer.
makes class entertaining, catches your attention very well! The class is not easy, and the homework is definitely not easy, you have to work hard for your grade.
Fairly good, I would reccommend his class to anyone willin to think. This is not a blow off class. The tests were challenging and the homework bought provoking, but if you think during and outside of class then you can learn a lot about yoursel and the world. Challenging, but highly worth it.
I advise not taking Phil online. His audio intro makes it well known that 50% or more of online students drop and encourages it-Neg attitude. He did not give feedback on assignments, responded to questions 3 days later, and left feedback for our def of religion a week and half after it was due and did not mention it.
I'd recommend this teacher for every philosophy class!! Hands down the best teacher. Just make sure you're ready to learn. He does a great job of teaching the material and he expects you to learn from it. Imagine that!
Great teaching method! He's super helpful and really easy to understand, it's the subject that's hard to understand! Definitely not an "easy" class, you need to read, and study super hard!
Overall pretty helpful. Tends to go on tangents though and you will need to do the readings.
Seitz is a very interesting and random guy, but he is extremely knowledgeable on this subject. He is definitely a tough teacher and I can't remember if attendance was required but I'd find it impossible to get through without attending. You can also take his karate class or something for extra credit--recommend it! A bit hard for 100 level class.
Worst instructor experience I've ever had. Absolutely no desire to teach students. Does not grade assignments with any sort of regularity or timeliness. Encourages students to drop out of class rather than help them with their studies. Taking formal action with the school about how poorly he taught.
Tim loves his material and presents it in a fun and interesting way so that it's interesting to you too. However, he expects a lot for a 100 class. There's a TON of reading and by the end of the semester you've easily read over 1000 pages, which is a lot of philosophy. He took 4 and 6 weeks to return tests which, wuite frankly, is ridiculous.
The professor was not a very good professor. He gave lots of ready and notes but with a lack of a plan. Learned lots of material for no reason. Class was worst I have taken at MCC. But he does like the topic.
Terrible instructor overall! everything was just bad. Asked for help and could not receive it.
Professor Seitz is awesome! He makes goofy jokes in his examples (like Vinny and his tiny... I mean, his shiny sports car.)and he's very, very knowledgeable. Besides, he lent me his own copies of the books when I couldn't afford them. His courses are impossible without reading, but VERY EASY with it. And so what if it's a lot? Grow up, kids!
Great instructor! Took Eastern Philosophy with him and I can say I was inspired to better myself after taking his course. His examples were very helpful and on tests they were very relatable. It is a lot of material but its not difficult as long as you keep up and take notes. Deffinetely reccomend him!
You can tell Mr. Seitz is passionate about philosophy and seems nice, but I wish I didn't take this, or at least online. He gives WAY too much for online to keep up with (lectures, modules, homework, papers). Even his grading seemed hard to keep up with. It wasn't consistent, I'd wait weeks for it to be updated.
Great instructor! Super enthusiastic and entertaining!
He is fond of saying to every student and myself included that we were not addressing what he really meant for the assignment. Everything he grades he treats like we totally missed the "super obvious" point of what the paper or video was about. He talks about different philosophers and when we write papers about them he asks if we even read it!?!?!
Absolutely worst professor I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! He is extremely unclear with what he is looking for. Gives many different lectures and readings that do not relate to what is on the test. His tests are extremely difficult, short answer questions. Makes the class way more difficult than it should be! No idea how to teach!!
Great professor, his tests prepares you for big colleges. If you work hard , you will get a good grade. I will not recommend online class, it is very hard.
You have to be prepared to work for your grade but it is well worth it. He also expects you to keep up with your reading and to know what you're talking about, or to at least put forth an effort. I took this class as a twofer with sexuality taught by Seitz & Grela, Talking Dirty-Highly recommend taking it.
Hated every thing about the class. There is soooooo much reading he expects you to do and really long videos to watch. If you do bad on the exams then it will destroy your grade. Also doesnt help that the tests are short answer and super long and hard. Wished I never took his class.
I am currently taking this class as a Twofer. It is a very hard class. He expects you to read a lot (which is normal), but there is daily quizes every class. He expects you to remeber certain things from the reading. It really destroys your grade.
Taking his class online, I've met him in person in the past and he is very passionate about what he teaches. However, he is very slow at grading, the reading is a lot to understand. One thing I did not like about this online class is that for the exam's you have to go into the school to take them, which is impossible for someone who works full time
I am currently in his twofer, he's a great teacher & is very understanding attendance isn't mandatory but recommended especially if you cant do all the readings. lectures are fun& he is always willing to work with you & he gives extra credit to bring up your grade. If you show you care he helps you out. 10/10 would recommend
Took the intro to phil summer course. He mentions to prepare yourself for 9 hours of work a week, which seemed like a lot for an online summer class (and is) but it is true. Heavy reading and writing . He expects a lot. He also makes students get the tests proctored at MCC (which sucks).
Logic can be an incredibly difficult class especially when taken online. Mr. Seitz was super accessible and even lists his cell as a contact number if you really need to reach him! I loved the class and loved the format, its put in a format where its like a game and you have to pass each test to move on to the next Lesson, with multiple chances!
I took this class online, and it was a huge mistake. I struggled the entire semester because of this class. He takes forever to grade, so youre stuck wondering what your grade will be. Theres so much reading & lectures to listen to. I do not recommend this class.
I took this class online and it was the worst decision ever. There are so many assignments that need to be completed within a short amount of time. Tests must be taken in the testing center.
Took an intro to philosophy class where three-quarters of your grade came from the 3 tests. He takes forever to grade even the smallest assignments like discussion posts. Makes you take the test at the testing center because "all online students cheat". He is very rude and incorrect with his corrections. Will grade bad if he disagrees with you.
He is excellent at review material and adds more to what you already learned. Can be tough but he is fair.
I loved Tim and the class I took with him! He's a fun guy and might seem intimidating at first but if you put forth some effort and interest you'll warm up to him fast. Doesn't ask for much besides participation and interest, and with this class, its hard to not be interested. Connects on personal level and goes beyond what a "normal" teacher would
I absolutely love intro to logic with Timothy Seitz. He sets up the class in a fun way, which makes me enjoy the class more. He is easy to reach out to if you need help, and will go over the boss battles (basically exams) with you if you ask, which is extremely helpful. I would 100% take a class with Timothy Seitz again
He is a funny guy and takes his job seriously. He cares a lot about his students and will encourage you to reach out to him. His tests are not that hard if you do your studying and reading. He can be real about things and will not sugarcoat anything. Oh one thing... Participate Participate Participate!
He is a very fun professor who wants to see his students pass. I would recommend you read the textbook and take notes from it, as well as use the resources he provides. As long as you do that and keep up with deadlines, you'll pass his course no problem.
Seitz is an amazing professor, he's always accessible outside of class, and will help you if you just ask. He's super funny and always keeps class interesting; he also goes out of his way to connect with his students and is very personable. Do the homework and show up to class and you'll be fine. 1000% would take again!!
The absolute worse professor that I have ever had. He says how he wants students to fail and that if you do not read all of the textbook and other readings, there is no chance of passing. There are 3 exams that determine your final grade and they are all essay questions so he can just fail you if he does not like you. DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!
Mr. Seitz is an amazing professor. The coursework is made up of readings/lectures that are easy to follow. 1/4 of the points in the class are discussion boards/quizzes, and the rest is from the three exams. He gives clear guidelines on what to expect from them. The subject is hard, but Mr. Seitz is super helpful, and always answers messages ASAP.
I have not had a professor who is as caring, devoted, and passionate about his students and class as he is. His class teaches how to think logically, is thought provoking, and applicable to all aspects of life. Lots of reading, but he's always available to help! Grades fairly, empowers his students, and makes philosophy interesting. Take his class!
Professor Seitz does not deserve the criticism he has attained from some people, he is a very nice guy who is always available when you need him outside of class. You can tell he deeply cares about what he is teaching, and he is very open to the opinions of others on the material. Give his courses a shot!
This course is extremely textbook heavy and if you have a hard time reading, you're outta luck. I had a very difficult time understanding the material and the instructor was not helpful or accommodating. I spent many hours outside of class reading online and watching YouTube videos to fill in the blanks.
I took this class all online and we had discussions we had to do every Sunday which wasn't too bad but 90% of your grade for this class is quizzes. 10-14 points/question quizzes that are so confusing and granted you get 2-3 attempts (depending on if you reach out to him) but are so difficult for no reason and are weighed so heavy. He doesn't help.
He is an overall great teacher I thought his lectures were very thought provoking and engaging but the class is very text heavy but if you do the work the class is much easiest and fun.
He is a good and passionate teacher that requires you read and do a mystery question on the reading at the beginning of class. half credit is given if you admit you did not do the reading.
Professor Seitz sets clear expectations. Online logic is not for the weak. Get the textbook, and DO THE EXAMPLES! That's what helped me succeed with an A. He gives a grace period of 24 hours for the quizzes which is helpful when you're behind. Gives detailed feedback and is willing to meet. The practice quizzes before real quizzes are critical!
Professor Seitz was honestly a really good teacher, he gave some amazing lectures that were very thought-provoking. He gave my class a lot of great advice and you can tell he does care for his students and wants them to succeed.
Seitz is a great teacher. He is ALWAYS available and ready to help. I often contacted him well past 11 at night and he would answer right away. I won't pretend the class is easy; it requires a lot of work and reading, but I have had few teachers who are as passionate and available for help. If you fail, it's on you!
Really nice guy and gives good, clear lectures. They are long, but it is an online class after all. Anytime I had issues he accommodated me asap. Was available easily during the semester. Explains things well. Really liked having him, he knows that we are also people as well as students and when you take this class, it's really clear.
Challenging but life changing. very good professor, as long as you keep up in the textbook you should do well. The lectures are very interesting and engaging.
Timothy overall was a great teacher. He always encourage you to work harder and made class fun and enjoyable. You take 2 heavy test throughout the semester but was pretty easy if you applied yourself to the material. He always made sure everyone was understanding the material and dived deep into the philosophy.
This professor is SO slow at grading work. Also, you have to go in person to the testing center to take tests which was not told before taking this class. Very difficult information to understand and tons of reading. The low point for quizzes that don't help you grade. His canvas is all over the place and hard to follow, unlike other professors.
Very fun and engaging teacher. If you are seeking a challenge academically look no further. This was not an easy class and you will have to fight for a good grade, but it's all worth it in the end because you will have learned a LOT.
I took this class online and if you take this class online as well be prepared for long lectures and confusing videos. Also, his grading when it comes to exams is extremely harsh as he expects you to memorize the topic(s) and get a good idea of the topic as well as reference lectures and readings in your exam. Additionally, exams are in-person.
I took three different classes with this guy, he's incredible. Easily the best teacher at MCC. Don't take any of his classes online though. He himself has warned against that. If you put the effort in you'll have a great time with his class.
Easily my favorite professor and class taken at MCC. Seitz is a down to earth guy who understands exactly what he is teaching. The class itself is built off of reading, lectures, and collaborating with peers. Tests are based on how well you understand the philisophical concepts. I would recommend every freshman to take this class with Seitz.
Class was very interesting. He's flexible and very personable. Do the work and it'll be easy.
He is strict and a strict grader, but more than makes up for it in his in depth lectures and honesty. He can seem a little intimidating but I found if you own up to your actions he's more than willing to help and be accommodating. Plus, he can be funny and witty with his lectures, and that's always fun!
He's very snappy with replies and comments (those who are sensitive beware). Ended up not doing so well on an exam and got a backhanded comment in return instead of feedback. Tried to reach out for help and he replied with attitude. Overall, would not recommend this professor to anyone.
Boring, tired to give real examples that were dumb
I would highly recommend not taking this professor. Doesn't help you when you need it and even when reaching out, he will ignore you. I've tried plenty of times and have gotten blown off. He also isn't professional. Uses a game like grading scale, where if you fail two attempts on one quiz, you automatically fail the whole class.
This professor is unprofessional and gives attitude when you express being confused or lost with the material. If you fail a quiz you have to basically email him and "beg" for him to unlock another attempt. This course and professor gave me so much stress and anxiety. I cannot say I learned anything from this course. Chose a different professor.
Please do not take this professor. Made life miserable for no reason, He makes you take in person tests for an online class. Extremely hard grader and not a good course for anyone. I switched professors and the class was much more convenient and I learned a lot more. He is extremely opinionated with his politics. (Huge Liberal)
I definitely recommend Tim. He is passionate and encouraging, which makes the lectures interesting. The reviews got me a little nervous prior to knowing him, but he is a funny and great teacher! Read the assigned material and you will be fine. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he's supportive and will give you genuine feedback!
I would never take a class by this man ever again, even if it was the last one I needed to graduate and he was the only professor teaching it. I would rather transfer schools then take a class from him again. He is off-putting and unprofessional, he has lost sight about what teaching is truly about. I can't say I learned anything in his class.
very nice and funny teacher. would definately take classes with him again
Very great teacher. Class was very easy, if you pay attention and commit to your work. I looked forward to coming to this class, I will miss it when this semester is over.
Great teacher and is good at engaging his audience , while the content itself is difficult it is to be expected as a 200 level class.
I honestly had a great time with this class! I took it mostly as I was intrigued by the topic the class covered. Even though it's very heavy on reading a lot of text, the lectures and exams become a lot easier and stick in your mind. Seitz himself is hilarious and straightforward with his lectures.
I took Talking Dirty, the Twofer between Human Sexuality and Ethics with Christine Grela as the other professor. Great class and lectures, clear canvas page and expectations, and good feedback on work. There is heavy reading for every class, but it's in place of homework. Course work clearly laid out on syllabus. Challenging but worth it. 10/10.
Taken as Talking Dirty Twofer: If you want to learn to think critically, take a class with Tim. This is a hard class that makes you use your brain and he expects your best effort. Lots of reading, but so fulfilling in the end. This is for those who want to grow in a life chaining way. If you want to let AI think for you then take an easy class. -MW
Not a good teacher at all. Condescending guy who is not very flexible. You also need to take tests in person for an online class and he is an extremely difficult grader for a class that is more meant to be "left up to your interpretation". He failed lots of people in my class and the lucky ones dropped early. BEWARE! DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER!
An overwhelming amount of lectures and requires you to go in person to take exams, even though it is an online class! Be prepared to spend lots of time on this course if you take it.
I took his Intro to Ethics class as a twofer with Human Sexuality and loved my time in the class. The homework was only reading, but it was tough and intense because he wants you to dig deeper into the material and not just have surface-level opinions. Do the reading, be prepared to share, and you'll do fine. Interesting lectures and a funny guy.
A very understanding professor, it is best to take a class in person with him. He has a very likable personality and is good at explaining complex ideas a bit more simply.
