He explains dense material in a concise manner.The questions for the midterm and final are given to the student a week before the exam, there i no reason not to do well in the class.

He is a good professor that will push anyone to the limit. I encourage anyone who like to read and write to take this class. There is no text book but a lot of handouts.

Prof. Stroup is a unique individual. I have not seen a professor who shows so much concern for each of his students. He loves his profession. God bless Prof. Stroup because they do not make true professors like him anymore. This statement is coming from someone who got a final grade of C.

He is an exceptional teacher and a remarkable human being. Any comments suggesting otherwise should be disregarded. I have never met someone so dedicated to their profession and to the furtherance of their students. This class will leave a lasting impression but only if your willing to work very hard to understand challenging and complex material.

If your going to rate a professor LEARN HOW TO SPELL. His class isn't hard you just have to be willing to put effort into your work to get the grade that you want. The class is writing intensive but I know someone who didn't do well on them & still got a B+ & he didn't deserve it. You don't have to buy a book & he gives you a book.

Excellent Professor. He assigns works sheets and will give a midterm and a final. You must do the reading to keep up with class and the material. He is an outstanding tutor and if you have any difficulties he will gladly help you. I recommend him 100%.

Easy professor..you really just need to do your work. he only teaches during the fall.. you only need to do 8/10 worksheets midterm and final..he gives you the question ahead of time and you should definitely prep for it to get a good grade.. the w/s really helps

Professor Stroup is one of the most genuine professors your will ever come across during your college career. Not only does he teach you to work for your grade, but he also has amazing insight on law school. All you have to do are the worksheets, all of them and study in groups for the tests. If you received a grade less than a B- you deserved it.

He is alright. I did really well in his class but sometimes i got the impression that he was lazy- it took nearly a 1/2 hour to start class.. he liked to brag a lot. the class is so so. the midterm and final are a piece of cake as long as u hand in the worksheet that is due every class

prof stroup has been the best prof i have met in jjay! he is inspirational and caused me to learn soooo much than any other class in jjay! class is not easy but u will come out with a lot more than just a grade.I DEF RECOMND HIM!

Professor Stroup is great. For those students who come to class regularly, do the homework- they will have no trouble. He does not like slackers or lazy people- or those who come late. Take the class, you will learn a lot and get motivated to do well in college.

If you're interested in law and dont like this class then you arent interested in law..you should switch colleges. the class forces you to think and form a logical thought. In general, you are graded on how logical your thought is...much like a judge deciding a case.

Stroup is more than a teacher, he is a friend. He asks for a picture of you at the beginning of the semester to remember you. He is very helpful and clear despite the difficulty that the course demands. The material is NO joke. It is very hard, but you will learn a lot. You will HAVE to work HARD, but its worth it. Not much time given on exams.HARD

By far the best professor in all of John Jay College. He is amazing at what he does. I wished that every other professor at John Jay was like him. He is so nice, and more than willing to help. He is anal on attendance, but he has good reason to be. I would recommend him to everyone at John Jay. Even if they are not taking Law.

He is a great professor. He is a great person. Teaches well, his classes are easy, theres no textbook, there are assigned readings and worksheets. Do the worksheets! Professor Stroup is a sweetheart. Clear and interesting lectures, answers questions to the best of his ability, has a sense of humor and tries to make the class as fun as possible. Do the worksheets and study for your exams and you will do fine. I just wish he would stop drinking so much Pepsi, that stuff is killing him.

The jokes/minutes, etc were a great idea but sometimes they wasted WAY TOO MUCH class time. I also wish he covered more material and spent less time on certain students' useless arguments. He is definitely a great professor when he actually DOES get around to teaching though.

He offers an insane amount of opportunities for the class to succeed. Not only does he give the exam questions weeks in advance, but he practically gives the answers as well. He's a wonderful prof.; the best I've had in JJ thus far. If you want to sharpen your intellect, then take him.

Worksheets due every class, attendance mandatory, but he does not require you to participate. He waste ALOT of time going off topic. He gives you five extra mins to get to class but if you are late or walk out of class, he gives you half an absence. But he does give you the midterm and final questions a week before the exam. Got a B, worked hard!

Stroup is a great professor. His class is very imformative and he expects his students to think. The worksheets due every class were fairly easy. There are two exams. He gives the questions for the exams a week before. If you read, you will do well. If you don't just expect to recieve a low grade.

Sweet guy. Spends a lot of time talking about irrelevant things. You can put effort into the worksheets but if you don't understand them, its evident, and he gives you an F (on the worksheet) regardless of how much you tried. He gives the test questions before the test. and no textbook which is good. Probably would take him again if i had no choice

Professor Stroup will help you to change the way you think, as well as change the way you live.If you are just looking for an "easy A" then you should NOT take this course.To put it simply: if you are not willing to put the amount of effort that Stroup has put into his course, kindly don't bother wasting his time. Lets be frank. If you want to actually learn something and get your money's worth, this is the class. Professor Stroup is an extremely professional professor. He puts in a lot of effort to help you really understand the material. The materials i have learned in this class will resonate with me forever. Your grade is simply what you put into it.

We weren't able to go over all the worksheets which sucked at 1st but he takes into consideration your hard work and makes you think. everyone complaining obviously still think they're in H.S. Very good guy and caring as well. overall great experience.

If there were more professors like him, John Jay would be considered a highly rated school and attract high quality students. He treats you like you are SUPPOSED to be in college and not 13th grade. If you want to be a real thinker, take his class.

Contrary to the negative statements, you would be very lucky to take his class. You can really learn a lot about yourself in this class. Stand for something with good reason based on facts. Don't inherit your positions. Define yourself. He genuinely cares about your future and will help you only if you help yourself. Professors like him are scant.

If you are lazy and not prepared then this is not the class for you. Its such a shame that these people have something negative to say about professor Stroup. He is respectful, helpful and intelligent. If you don't put any effort obviously you won't get a good grade. You do have homework in the class, but they are based on the readings, not hard.

Professor Stroup is great at what he does. He is intelligent, humorous, and knows how to make the topics relatable to the class. He is not a professor to take if you're not willing to put any effort into the course. Homework is given for every class, and it only benefits you to do it because they relate directly to the exams.

If you can not dedicate time to read and do worksheets, and show up on time at that then drop this course ! Overall he cares tremendously about his students and who they become in the future . Put forth the effort to do the work sheets , and reading and making it to class just like he does and there will be an option excellent outcome.

I wish we had more Professors like Professor Stroup. He puts in a lot of effort to educate us and help us learn as much as possible. He does give a good amount of work, but we are in college! Every time I had a question he would take the time out to answer it in a very clear manner. I recommend that you take professor Stroup if you want to learn!
