It's hard to understand him when he teaches. Makes everything confusing and likes the smart students. Makes you memorize definition. For why, I don't know.
Super hard teacher. Take him as a last resort. He is so boring too...
Doesn't convey lesson to the appropriate level of education. Treats students as if we were experts in statistics. Tests are extremely difficult! I bit the dust in this math class and I'm asian!
he is not helpfull. and more than half the class is failing!!
do not take a course with this professor. even if YOU dont have a choice, it's better to not take a course than to attend his classes. i strongly recomend, DO NOT TAKE A COURSE WITH HIM!
Can be a jerk, but if you have a good grade he is a little nicer to you. He is very intimidating, and his class is hard. No one has an A or B.
He was a sub for my math class while our regular teacher was absent for several weeks. He seemed to make things clear, especially the word problems, the whole class seemed to love him. Soft spoken but not 100 percent clear.
Why Mt. San Antonio College hasn't fired this guy already is beyond me. He acts as if teaching is beneath him. Tests are full of trick questions, and the information is presented at 100 miles per hour. too fast too much!!
hmmm. is this guy for real? he must be the worst teacher on the face of the planet. he expects all his students to be math geniouses. he teachs his class at a extremely fast pace. he has an all trick question test. he gets mad if you ask questions!!!
Horrible teacher. When we asked him questions he said we were paying attention or it was a simple concept and why didn't we understand it. Out of 33 students, 2 passed. Fire this guy.
I took him for Stats and I thought I was gonna fail. He encourages his students to form study groups which was extremely helpful. He also was very open to questions and you're always welcome to go to his office hour. It's a tough subject so be warned.
hes a nice person... courses are boring and long. lectures made mee sleep alot... got a B barely.. tests are pretty hard but he was realli nice if you show you care for the grade
I took it in 2004 Spring semester. It's kind of easy, but I don't know why some other classmates just didn't get it very well. He teaches very well.
He DOESNT know how to make eye contact, we looked at the grade sheet. 50% had F's, 25% had D's, 25% had C's... not ONE A or B. I had to work my butt off in that class to pass with a C. And I'm usually good at Math. I felt stupid on numerous occasions.
i felt i couldn't ask quesions in his class. he favors students who get what he's saying, which is like 2 people in the class. i realized there were better teachers who wouldn't insult the class so i dropped, but i wasted that whole semester with him
I would understand how to do problems when it came to lectures and doing the homework. But when it came to a test or a quiz, it was really difficult to figure out problems. I usually do good in math, but I did horrible in his class.
hardest class i EVER took, and he didnt help. Not only that he discouraged me. he told me i had a better chance of failing than passing, i passed luckily. Ive never studied so much for a class i needed just for GEN ED. Take this class if you are an extreme masochist, HORRIBLE.
Stats is very challengeing course because its all word problems! Tim's teaching is actually pretty good, but his tests are tricky, that's where you get screwed. Sometimes he will offer a review session on the weekend before tests, which really helps.
Before this class I have no interest in math. Now I want to major in accounting. The reason is because attention to details are really important. So if you do that in this class, you'll get a good grade.
Dont take his class unless you understand math! He is a good teacher don't get me wrong but he works at a fast place, sometimes he's confusing. His test/quizs are very two weeks, thats when all the homework is due, (and it's alot) out of a class of 25-30, more than half failed or dropped. Good Luck!
good teacher.lots of hw.very helpful ONLY if u ask for help(wants u to ask questions if u dont understand something, otherwise he`ll assume everyone gets it)only bad thing is,he REQUIRES each student to do board work AT LEAST 8 times & takes points off if fewer than 8 (it dropped my B down to a C!)
worst ever
I earned a B in Math 130 but was unable to handle this Math 140. I will take this course in the next semester with a different teacher.
the class is freakin hard can't tell if it's him or the class thats hard or maybe both.
He is hard and cocky. He makes you go up to the board and do word problems. His tests are hard.
This teacher changed my life, i took business calculus w/ 2 professors before him at mtsac. one professor had a problem teaching and the other was like speedy gonzales. Tim on the other hand helped me gain a clear and concise understanding of calculus and allowed to to succeedd in his class , i got an A, where i had a C in math 130 before.ThankU
I think students who failed the class can't blame the professor but themselves, right? He is a good professor and take care of his students. Come on guy! studying hard and passing the class, you will have fun in any classes. Good luck!
if you take his class.. for sure ..you will learn a lot.but his class is just ****ing borig as hell. also hard to understand what he saying..from taking his math class, i started to hate taking math courses..
It wasnt me IT WAS HIM. I got a really good grade in 50 and I couldnt understand why the hell I wasnt getting anything but D's in his. He's biast, he obviously prefers male students. He's willing to help those who he deems are worthy of his help. Take Williams. I'm retaking 51 and now I get everything!! T you suck!
This guy seriously needs to find a new job. Everyone fails his class. Most of the time there are only about 10 people at the end of the semester and they have d's and f's. What does that say about the class...
Mr Takashima is very hard when it comes to grading he takes off a lot of points on the tests.Homework he's lenient not too demanding about it he's also not very clear in his lecture, he doesn't give any review for tests he goes too fast you're p;ractically on your own. I wouldn't recomend him.
VERY UNHELPFUL!!! I thought that it may have been the subject that was hard, but it's not. you can do almost everything on a TI 83 but, takashima wont tell you how. He wants almost everything done by hand! His test questions are confusing he says he is trying to make you think but he is just confusing. DO NOT TAKE HIM instead take Joe Franko.
Very hard teacher. he teaches math 51 like a calculas class.very hard on grading tests and quisez.I don't recommend him !
hes pretty clear on explaining stuff...but his personality is a bit...****-ish and jerk-ish... he likes to pinch his legs together and rock around shifting his chubby body left and right on his knees haha, pay attention next tiem. his class is a bit easy... so i started ditching then picked on me -__-
took this class during summer session.he presents the material very well, and will go over hw Q's and test Q's or whatever you want that you dont understand.it might be sorta condensending, but he makes you learn your stuff. best prof. ive had at my sac
gave us extra credit which helped a lot
he gives out alot of extra credit b/c he knows all of his students are failing. just bs on your hw. try to stay awake during class, lecture and hw will be on exam. have fun! math is easy but depend on the prof.
People like this dont have any buisness being in the education field.

statistical jerk!!! if you don't want to learn, he is the one to take. if you ask a question he asks you to answer it and you end up more confused than before! the probability of passing his class is slim to none. if you want to develop math anxiety, take his class. boooooooooo!!!!!!
dont take him, you will be so lost and not understand. he doesnt seem to really care that much about getting students to understand and he showed up about half of the time our class was scheduled to meet!!!! dont take him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do not take this professor. He chews people out in class. I took him for the summer... very, very little patience... Apparently those who did well in this class decided to make good comments. Again for Business Calc... take someone else... and especially DO NOT take in the summer!!! started with 50 and ended with 10 students... some passed this class... they didn't have to work and had "sponsors." Shoot I want to have a sponsor!!!

This guy has no idea of how to teach. He may be a wonderful mathmatician but he does not know how to teach. He is impatient and likes to degrade students. He needs to find a new career. Preferably one that doesn't involve dealing with people. It's not the material that's difficult, just the way he presented it. If you take his class you better understand his methods exactly. He can't teach a different way to do it, plus he will embarass you in front of the whole class like you're in first grade.
This professor can not teach!! I didn't recommend this professor at all !!!!!!
I really don't know why he is a teacher if he presumes we already know it all. The worst teacher ever encountered!!!!AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
I think Mr. Tim's a nice guy. I took him for my two math classes and I think he's a good teacher. It's true that he doesn't teach that much, but I like his style cause the lectures are just straight to the point, although they could be better. Just do your work and pay attention, those are the key. I'll take him again if I have the chance.
The worst teacher i ever had !!!!!!!!!!!
He is not patient and he expects you to know everything. I hated his class!
He comes off as being very harsh, but he just expects his students to do the work. He will take the time to answer any questions. I thought he was a great teacher and would take him again.
The fact that he gives scholarship award to students who work hard in class is a proof that he cares for his students and he knows how much effort that each of his students provide in class.
this guy weighs too much of your grade on tests. if you're not a good test taker... DONT TAKE HIM!!!! His tests costs too much of your grade! I spent hours on homework a night but it was only the tests that screwed me over. GAAAHHH!
Horrible Teacher!! Difficult to understand *accent* and he likes to degrade and embarrass people who ask questions. I was sure never to ask any questions. I dropped him half way in. Horrible teacher!!
He doesn't explain clearly, cannot teach if he really wanted to, doesn't explain the subject clearly, and is EXTREMELY picky on his tests. Tests are hard and difficult, expects you to know the subject immediately. OVERALL DO NOT HAVE HIM FOR ANY MATH COURSE IN MT. SAC!!!!!
He is very bad teacher, very SxxKs.. I havent seen a Math teacher like him b4, so bad. Don't take his class
Hard test, lots of homework, can't explain clearly, mean.... Fired this professor!!!!
We were doing factoring problems and he told us "just don't think about it, and the answer will come to you" no it won't... factoring problems do not do themselves. He also said, "think smartly, and you will understand" really? because i was trying to think stupidly. Plus he gives a ton of h/w, and he grades his test really hard.HORRIBLE,all around
Cons:I understood the hw, lecture & did fine onquizzes, but the tests were killer. No reviews, does not go through test after handing it back.i put in so many studying hrs each week, i have a B now but with a commulative final worth 28% of your grade, i'm still scared of failing!Anxiety increased by 100%!Pros:brought in home made cookies, has raffles
This is a hard class, but he teaches it very well. There is a lot of Homework and Info. He is patient and helpfull. He tries to motivate students by having rafels based on test scores and has a scholarship for hard-working students.
he is the best math teacher at mt sac
good professor. Math is hard period but if you do homewok and ask questions you can get an A.
he walks backwards! why does he walk backwards?!?!?!
If you think that this teacher is hard, YOU'RE RIGHT! I tried taking him for math 110 until the very last drop date and still didn't have a clue as to what was going on. I took it 2 yeasrs later with another teacher (Butler, reitred) and got an A. Take him as a last resort because stats can be easy with the rigth professor!
he's very thorough, and a very good teacher, but if you're not gonna come to class a lot, then don't take him. lots of homework, but not so bad if you keep up with it. lots of point opportunities, fun exercises (this coming from someone who hates math). clear explanations, and consistent.
Mt.sac must fire this guy for sure! he cant teach at all.. his accent also really hard to understand.. :( Seriously, Mtsac should find another professor to teach Math 140!!!!
This is one hard teacher, and he is mean. when you have questions he rolls his eyes, and makes u feel stupid for asking that question even though its a hard one. he also has a sense of arrogance to him, like hes better than u.I ended up with a C in his class, but i was lucky, the class started w/ 35 and ended w/ 12 people and from that 9 people passe
why take him?, why did i take him?, why why why?, save yourself people, im trying to save you, run while u can, this is the last you will hear from me for takashima will eat me with his suckyness.
This guy is a ****! Never take this guy if you wish to learn something. The only place a learned was at the MARC. The tutors there teach more than this guy. Stay sway from this dude's class...
most people don't like mr.t is because he is a tough prof. so what! he pushes you and is very helpful to those who want the help. you need to ask for help in his class if you don't understand - that's a plus with him! take advantage of his office hrs-if you need more time he is willing to flex his schedule. he's really a nice guy!
He was a pretty mean teacher. i asked for a handout that i didn't get and he gave me a cartload of attitude. Not very clear in his teaching but i suppose if you read and study more than i did you will pass. i would not recommend him though.
He definitely pushes you...but if you meet him halfway you will have a better understanding of math. Not recommended for lazy people. He is a good professor though.
He teaches very well but unfortunately the material he covers isn't really on his tests. He expands on what he teaches ALOT in his tests and it's mainly critical thinking and outside learning that helps. Was really scary when you asked questions. He'll get mad/frustrated at you when you dont understand quickly.
HE LOVES PIE!!
DO NOT TAKE, especially if you are not good in math. He likes to move on quickly and if you don't get something and ask in class, he says to stay after and/or ask him later. I would recommend someone else but I've yet to find a really good math teacher. Again, DO NOT TAKE... Only if you like math and understand it quickly. I warned you
He is an awesome teacher! Very clear when explaining the material. He covers a lot but takes the time to ask if anyone has questions. His tests are usually on exactly what he covers in class. Best teacher!!
goes over about 2 to 3 sections a day, gives a ton of homework. if you miss a day or lag in homework youre done for.
1st week of class was full, ended with <10 w/ probably only one A. Said "obviously" 16 times in one class session. Nicer to females, walks backwards to his wall, your brain can be sold at KFC after finals, if you make it that is. Pop quizzes, hard/tricky exams, Assigns 100+ probs for hmwk. Only for hard-working, dedicated students and the crazy.
I don't understand why so many students gave this professor a bad review. I took prof. Takashima from math51 to math110. His lectures are clear, and he will never waste your time with irrelevant rabblings(as many professors do). TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF U ACUALLY WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING!!!
he is really bad, he expects you to learn things right when you learn them. hard test. if i were you i wouldn't take him at all, why waist your time with a professor like him.
he was an Okay professor. I do not recommend to take him in summer school. Very hard to understand. He likes to expand on what he teaches a lot and the test aren't the same as in class work.
My problem with Takashima's class was that he assigned a lot of homework that was due twice during the semester and grades it all as one. Instead of getting 2 pts for each assignment its like getting 10 pts for a big packet, which means you have to finish every single page. His tests are extremely hard, he throws in things never taught in lecture.
Mr. Takashima is a decent teach. He explains things clearly and insists you follow formulas and go step by step. The problem is that you will often get overwhelmed by the amount of homework he assigns, and tests/quizzes are unforgiving. Don't take him unless you're prepared to devote many many hours directly to Math.
This is a great teacher. Very helpful, gives extra credit, works with everyone. Easy to understand.
do not take this teacher, doesn't help at all office hours are appointments only and thats a maybe. this class was horrible out of the 50 people in the begining only 10 stayed. i say you take another teacher.
Great teacher! very clear and teaches you in the easiet way possible. He assigns a lot of homework but as long as you do it and keep up youll do fine.
He was a great teacher, he's only mean to the students he knows are absent and don't do their homework cuz of the stupid questions they ask. HE teaches in a very clear way, if you do homework you'll do good on test. WIll take him again for MATH 110!!!
I tried to take him for the first week but the class was going to fast, but than It was a 8week course, not 16. He doesn't teach enough problems, does a few and hands out worksheets to do in class. Not sure if other professors do that also. I would suggest taking another professor. I didn't understand anything. Too much HW.
do not take this guy. he's mean. yells at students. doesnt really explain things. i attend class every day. do all the work sheets, understand the problems. yet cannot pass the test.he will put up tricky problems on the test to fail students. only been 3 weeks and half of the class already dropped. most people are currently failing. If you want to
just go ahead and take this class. you have 95% chance of failing.
horrible!!! do not take this guy! so hard and if u walk in 3 minutes late to his class he wont let u take a quiz, what is that!!!!.........so stupid! we should be allowed to take the test with the time that left for the quiz! anyway, alot oh hw and tests are hard. final is worth 30% of your grade! which is bs! and final is on all the chapters!
Don't Take his class he is the worst teacher ever
8 week term so prof goes very fast. You must understand & apply what you learn by the end of class or else you will not be able to understand the following section. He goes fast and humiliates people for asking questions. Not understanding or helpful-seems bitter. Need to dedicate many hours to homework and be on time to class. hard class.
teaching: goes through the material really fast. tests: there is no standard for what a problem is worth, he will make it up depending on the student. It's important you do your hw and be a regular to the math center! ask classmates to create a study group, it is very helpful!!! You will learn a lot, but be aware this professor is hard.
a very helpful professor. i really loved this class
He is one of the best prof. I've ever had. I really enjoyed his class because his lecture is very clear. He just does not like lazy students. Yes, his class is very hard! But if you do all HW, attend the class regurally, and show him that you take this class seriously, he would help you a lot! I recommend to take him!
If you are one minute late, don't expect to get credit for the day or for the quiz that just passed by your desk. He is not especially friendly or helpful. Went to office hours only to be told to go to the Math tutoring center, would not explain any problem at ALL. Rushes through everything and assigns WAY too much hw.
This professor hates the world,or at least all of the students in it.Didn't seem to enjoy teaching at all, and if someone gives the wrong answer, he pretty much tells them they are stupid.I got a good grade but by the end of the semester, there were maybe 8 ppl in my class.Don't take him unless you like your hand cramping up from all the homework.
The WORST teacher I?ve ever had!!! I have never liked math but this teacher made me hate it. I still can?t understand how someone with his character and dislike towards all students chose teaching as a profession. If you want to fail a class then chose to take this professor.
Math 71-8 week course is not easy. Plus, math was my weakest subject and after taking his class, math was much easier. Lot's of homework, you must attend class, and be on time. Otherwise, participate, study, and you will do awesome in his class. Stick it out the first few days. He may seem tough, but he really helps you if you show interest.
Math is really not a fun subject unless you really like the teacher. In this case, you would hate the subject & the teacher. It seems like he hates his job & doesn't want to be working with students. If you like asking questions, be prepared to feel stupid. In his class, he's the genius & you're a low-class mediocrity. DO NOT take him.
I took the 8 week course which is all he teaches right now he said. He's really hard! He goes pretty fast but he is pretty clear on most things. The thing that throws people off are his tests. Dont underestimate this! All the questions are hard unlike other tests where the last page is tricky. He really tests you.8 weeks goes fast, so get it over with
An incredible teacher! I am horrible at math so i got a bad grade. He assigns a lot of homework! But he's very helpful, very good professor, if i could have taken him for more classes i would have! Tests are tricky, but then again i'm just no good at math.
This teacher is pretty blatantly rude and doesn't seem to care much about his students. On the first day of class he will tell you that his class his difficult and that most of you will either fail or drop out. Don't take his class unless you can put up with him!
He does not care about the success of his students. Tells you that unless you are a top-notch math student you will not succeed in his class. He also assigns literally hundreds of homework problems every night as well as a separate in-class worksheet every day. A very negative vibe he instills which reflects your success in his class. Do not take!
This is a very rude and insulting professor. I was in his class with a few of my friends on the first day and we all dropped immediately. He tells you that while you are taking his class you will have no personal life and most of you will fail. Oh, and you'd better know the answers to his questions or he will get very angry with the whole class!
This "teacher" is an example of a 40 year old virgin. He hates life and makes it quite obvious.
This review is not coming from a lazy student that got a poor grade and came to get revenge by leaving bad feedback. Rather this is coming from someone who made the mistake of spending a few days with this rude professor in class and dropped immediately. Believe what you hear. He is extremely rude and negative and just doesn't care about ur success
He NEVER takes attendance. Announced on day 1 that over 50% of his class fails on average, and actually seems to think that is to his credit. Assigns 150 to 180 homework problems PER DAY. He is ruthless in grading, looks for things that he can take points away for on tests and quizzes even when the answer is correct. I do NOT recommend him.
I believe that this professor is a good teacher, however, i do not recommend this class for any single parents. He is unforgiving when it comes to tardiness and absences regardless of what the reason is. He even said on the first day that he doesnt recommend this class for students with children.
This guy is a certified turd with absolutely no passion at all for teaching math. He sets a negative tone on the first day of class by forewarning students that most of them will fail the class & even encourages students to drop the course. I seriously don't understand why Mt. SAC allows this sorry excuse for a teacher to continue to teach.
If I could rate him a 0 I would! Very angry man who clearly doesn't want to be there. He belittles students for wrong answers & even ROLLS HIS EYES at you & talks down when students ask questions. TERRIBLE! I have no idea how Sac allows him to teach! SERIOUSLY DO NOT TAKE. Just wait another semester. Everything these people say is true!
He is a very mean teacher. The tone he talks to his students in, always seems like hes mad, and hes always setting up a negative vibe in class. He is not understanding towards students at all, and gives ridiculous amounts of homework per class. He expects you to not have any mistakes at all, and if you ask him a question about it he will get mad.
8wk class was hard but work hard and you will pass. Must do hw and not miss class. He gave extra credit and did a raffle.
This guy right here gives at least 12 chapters of homework and each chapter have 40 questions each... I took 8 weeks class and he told us at the start that we are going to fail. Doesn't gives a **** about hwk, if you missed 1 chapter out of 25 chapters due you will ONLY get 1/2 credit. DON'T TAKE HIM unless you are a really PATIENCE kind of person.
By no means is he a bad teacher, at the very beginning of the semester, he notes that being an 8-week course, he HIGHLY advises against taking it unless you're good in math. His teaching style is very to the point, and perhaps a bit too fast moving for many, but with only 8 weeks to cover content, that should be no surprise. Expect plenty of work.
This professors sucks. Never seems to enjoy teaching and has very bad attitude when a student asks a question or not responding to the question that he asked. he gives a lot of home work and his test is extremely hard. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!
He is pretty clear when explaining, and leaves a high amount of homework, which is not graded, and he takes out point in the test, also he gives weekly quizzes that are 3 questions, so if you miss one question you fail the quiz. Grades pretty harsh, I would not recommend his class
took his 8 week course, 4 days a week, 2 hr class at 7:30am. it was difficult, but i went to class, did the hw, and listened in class, he DOES tell the students the 1st couple days of class that more than half the class will drop, but thats because most students are not ready for the speed of this class. Great Teacher overall.
Very hard to keep up with his teaching. If you're a first learner for the college algebra, I don't recommend taking his class. I'd rather suggest taking college algebra with other professor for next semester. That being said, if you want to challenge yourself (you know what you doing), this is a perfect class for you.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! I understand the lessons but the tests were really hard. I'm pretty sure he's happy failing his students.
Great professor. Always willing to help students who actually wants to learn and who are serious about the class, & very up front about his expectations on the very 1st day. Always emphasize important concepts over & over again. Attendance is a MUST to learn the material. Treat students with respect & fairness. Definitely recommend this professor.
Looks up at the cealing all the time. I think he's afraid of eye contact. Emphasizes that he gives alot of quizzes . Looks unorganized and pronounces words in strange ways.
If you don't have the time to study and put in the work that it requires to learn then you won't like him. He explains things clear as they can be and if you don't get find him and he will explain again
I put in a LOT of work. I was in has office at work hours and used the tutoring center. However, very discouraging teacher. Belittles you if you didn't comprehend a previous listen or ask to go over what he thinks is simple logic. His office hours are useless considering he made me feel too stupid to ask the questions I needed to ask to pass class.
I watched as a class of 30 was whittled down to 6. The subject material was explained well, but it's a bit of a tough course and the grading reflects that perhaps with a bit more vigor than it should. Go into this either ready to work and be confident, if you're not don't expect to do well.
Tests are very tough, gives a lot of homework, and makes you feel dumb when you ask questions. Seems easy but when it comes to the test it's a whole different story. As soon as you enter the class he assures you that you will fail. Do not take if you're "okay" with math.
He's class is not very clear. Exams always more difficult than the homework on the book.
It was crazy to see a class of 40 become a class of ten. He is such a tough grader. I enjoyed statistics until I took his class. He is very picky when it comes to test, and the tests are pretty much your grade. You must be SPECIFIC on tests and quizzes! He doesn't care if you pass or fail.
- 100+ HW question every week - Strict grader - Lectures are word for word from the text book - answers questions with an attitude - First thing he tells you on your first day is that you'll fail the class 0/10 avoid this class unless you already know the concepts
Went to every class, did the 100+ q's of hw A DAY (fast track) he assigned, had plenty of mental breakdowns for a damn intro to algebra class & still got a D. I know for a fact i wasn't that dumb. Took Prof. Troxell for Math 51/71, & Stats, passed w/ an A. Didn't even need to show up for final in MTH 71 bc grade was so high. AVOID THIS CLASS
If you can call yourself a real college student, then take this class. He is super helpful and gives extra credit opportunities. He also gives a cash scholarship for students that show work ethic. If all you know how to do is complain instead of earn your grades, then take a Professor that will spoon feed you.
Definitely do not plan on taking this class with other units/classes, unless you really planned out a good study plan. There is a good amount of homework that will keep you busy enough. The exam are based on the homework or worksheets given; therefore, you are required to know it all. This class is all about effort & prepares you for higher math.
It's a hard class. If you don't have time to study you won't pass, simple as that. Graded on worksheets (group quizzes) quizzes, exams, and final exam. His personality might not agree w some people but if you need help, his office hours are the place to be. Do the homework!! It helps ALOT and allows you to know what exactly you need help on.
Took him in the summer its a lot of material at once. He gave a lot of homework and its due before each test for extra credit. Im okay at math so following along during lecture wasnt that bad. He never had a problem explaining something if you were lost. Show up or youll be so lost and miss the quizzes. Tests are hard, and he grades hard.
It's a tough class. There are group quizzes, quizzes and exams you are graded on. If you don't have the time to commit and study. Don't take this professor, he is not easy. However, he does his best to help and encourages students to come to his office hours. Put the time in, study, DO THE HOMEWORK, go to the office hours, and GO TO CLASS.
I would not reccomend taking him for 6 weeks because it is a lot of work. Pop quizzes and big exams every week and 100+ questions assigned a day. His exams are very difficult and you have to learn how to pace yourself because i started to find myself not having enough time to finish. Also, he is kind of sassy which i didnt really enjoy.
Probably the worst math class I have ever taken. His quizzes and tests are nothing like the homework and he goes out of his way to trick you with the questions. Seriously regret taking this class so much. He also always seemed so annoyed when people asked him questions.
Awful
Ok so where to start. Before hand I just want you to know that i've passed every Math class all the way up to 290 here at Mt. Sac with an A, and i just want to warn any new students about this prof. This guy give 100+ ?'s for homework everyday, he reads of the book for his lectures, he expects you to fail, and and uses trick questions on tests.
Homework, lectures, quizzes, and worksheets are all fairly simple- they follow the same format & cover similar concepts. However, the tests seem to be written by a different teacher. You feel a bit... tricked? I attended lots of office hours, but nothing seemed to really prepare for the test, which is a huge portion of the grade.
He cares about his students but goes off topic for riddles and other tangential stuff alot. I disliked the ambiguity of what conventions he prefers for things such as graphing. Also little things such as the decimal out to 6 places only to learn later exact form is preferred. Overall, as a math major nearing xfer i would not recommend him. good guy
He is a very bad teacher and has no sympathy for his students. Now the COVID-19 is serious. Everyone stays at home, but he asks me to buy a printer. Where do I buy it? All stores are closed except the food store. He suggested that I drop out of school. This teacher is too bad!
During Cov-19 he didnt work with students that were parents. Made it difficult to stay with the class.
During the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, I could not have chosen a worse professor. The class started with around 20 students and by finals week we were down to 4. I really wish I had one thing good to say but I can't find anything. Tests were very hard, no study guide. Tests and Quizzes are not given back to you graded. Hard to get ahold of him.
Had him a few years ago for this course. While working on some in class problems he completely demolished my desire to participate in the class by embarrassing me to the laughter of some of my classmates rather than simply telling me 'no sorry your answer is wrong'. Took the course again next quarter with a different prof and got a B. Go figure.
He is the worst Professor I have ever had. I re-took stats with Professor DeWilde and she was miles better. His lectures are long and don't go into much depth and if they end up complicating the subject even more. The exams are very difficult and introduce concepts that weren't on the homework.
Okay. So. I haven't done math in 9 years. Yupp! 9! This was a head first dive into ice water. BUT! Professor T is for real. He was always available when needed. He made the effort if you did. There was a lot of homework, but what do you expect in a condensed class of 8 weeks. He just makes you work for it which is how it should be.
Dont waste your time taking him please! I only took him because there were absolutely no other teachers available and I regret it so much. This class actually makes me hate school and his attitude and harshness makes me want to quit all together. Please do yourself a favor and listen when I say you do not want to be in this class.
Appears he is bothered by having to teach online, when other professors made the transition. Exams are worth the main points. Tests don't follow with homework. Textbook he wanted didn't match what was on the syllabus, correct edition wasn't available. Very condescending, doesn't respond at times, his classes are always open for a reason. Skip it!
Very caring Professor. Makes class fun. Amazing Professor very helpful before, after class, and office hours.
You missed one day and it would be difficult to catch up. He tells you to look on canvas for instructions like deadlines, etc. He wants you to do his way even if you find other solutions to the problem with the correct answer.
If you're not stellar at math like me, you're not going to enjoy his lectures. I legitimately tried hard to do well, but it didn't work out. The homework he gives is very long, and can be tedious. The only reason I didn't dropped was because of my stubbornness.
He runs through everything really fast, puts trick questions on the exams, doesn't want to teach he made us learn from each other. The problem was that no one knew what they were doing. I had multiple papers that he graded wrong and I had to make him fix. On one exam he gave me five wrong answers when they were right and he would only fix two.
His class wasn't easy, at least not when I took it during COVID-19. Participate, pay attention, take notes, and ask questions. He dissects everything in great depth. a ton of homework and repetition. In the end, it all boils down to how well you understood and implemented the material covered in class. You must put in effort.
Please make yourself a favor, DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. or you'll torture yourself / waste your time. The first thing he said "I'm going to quit my job soon and retire because I don't like way schools these days teach students". Even when finals were coming up, he said that many students are going to fail this class and have to retake. Its like waaaat?
Never choose!!! You will be really, really unlucky if you pick.
If you're not good at math, you should never pick him!!!! He lectures very quickly and many times a new chapter, he only covers two problems in class and ends the chapter with that. Don't even know what he's talking about. He has a lot of homework, so much that you can't even finish it.
He's very condescending and he basically doesn't answer emails when he's not at school. He basically doesn't reply until a couple hours before class, and it's all very short one or two sentences. Never uses honorifics.
Whenever he went to ask him anything in private he always had a very condescending and dismissive attitude. He grades really, really strictly. For example, he asked us to keep 6 decimal places and deducted points for any missing digit. But 6 decimal places really make calculations very difficult.
His exams were very difficult! The questions were very numerous! More than half of the class is failing near the end of the semester, but he seems to want everyone to fail and it doesn't affect him in any way anyway. I really, really regret taking his class now. Don't ever take his class!!! You will literally die if you take his class.
He is not flexible or willing work with you
Barely teaches in class, his grading scale is test heavy, he grades super picky on tests and knocks of 2-3 points for every mistake which tanks your grade. He looks for small details and you need to show work a certain way. He emphasizes that you need to always be asking questions in his class to learn and he will make you think hard in his class.
Tough professor who moves through material quickly. Lots of homework and exams are very difficult. Grading is strict - even missing a decimal place can cost points. Consider using unstuck study and a study group to get through this class.
This was the worst class I've had so far. You can tell he has favorites. Gave us a quiz second week of school and expected us to know everything but we only went through it once. Test are hard, if you get one thing wrong a bunch of points are taken off. If you don't put something in the right place, points taken off. Worst class ever, do NOT take.
He is rude, doesn't care about anyone,& lacks respect. He doesn't care to teach. He reviews a topic once & wants you to learn it from the tutor. He says to ask questions, but when you do, he belittles you in front of the whole class & doesn't answer the question. He was always saying we wouldn't pass his class. By Oct, there were only 7 of us left.
By day one, I already hated this professor. I took him with the bridge course, therefore my class with him was 3 hours. Every few minutes, he reminds us that we will fail his class. Especially if you are fresh out of high school or taking math for the first time in a while. Demeaning, and doesn't teach well.
Never take a class with him, PLEASE. He's extremely rude and unable to answer simple questions regarding material. Especially for math, the ability to elaborate on concepts is so important, which he fails to do. He brags about students failing his class (wonder why!) I believe he has the knowledge but lacks the people skills necessary to teach.
This is the WORST professor ever. He is unprofessional and not worthy to teach students. He is NOT caring at all. He has the biggest ego ever. He gets mad easily, especially when we don't answer him quickly. He never really teaches in his class, instead he wants us to know something we haven't even been taught yet about it.
This professor was the only stats class left open & now I know why. He lectures & shows you the minimum of what you need to know. He doesn't go over the worksheets after grading them, we don't know how to improve on our mistakes & the test has questions that we barely even touched on in class. You will only pass his class if you know stats already
so much homework for no reason ,tuffest grader on the planet.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. During my fall sem, most, almost all of the class dropped. Cannot teach for the life of him he is teaching his own version of stats at this point.
He was a harsh grader, super condescending, and didn't seem like he wanted to teach. Only 3 students remained in his class, everyone had to drop the class. I think that says a lot about his teaching skills.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! One of the worst professors in ALL of Mtsac. He did not like teaching, he even told us one day that he hates his job. He does not care about the students. He is VERY unhelpful and absolutely not kind to any students. He brags a lot about how many people drop his class. He shouldn't have his job.
Berating, mean, not good at teaching in general, uncompassionate, gets a kick out of making students feel incompetent when they ask questions. I got more viable lecturing from 10 minute youtube videos.
The worst professor I've ever had. I felt confident at the beginning of the semester until he continued to bring up the fact that only 5 students end up n his classes toward the end of the semester. He was right. I got no help from him at all except for harshly graded work and exams. Try taking another professor if you can!!!
He is extremely rude to students, made it perfectly clear in the beginning that he does not like his job, is a tough grader and doesn't know what he's teaching, by the end of the semester there was 5 students which he seemed proud of. I do NOT recommend him at all, you can't even ask a question without him laughing about it...
I have a lot of mixed feelings that I can't fit into 350 characters. For the first half of the semester, this class is a torture chamber. Every question asked is met with disdain. If you miss a lecture, you're left learning an entire chapter on your own. His attitude flips after the last day to drop passes, and I DO think he's good at teaching.
