Alot of reading, have to buy 7 books for the class, and all he does is talk
Easily the worst professor I've ever had. A total jerk to his students. He doesn't care about his students at all. He said that GSU students were "on the whole, not as bright as studnets at UGA"
Teeter is a great professor who teaches true college classes in which students must actually use brain cells. His classes are challenging; one will only think them "too hard" if not up to the challenge. I learned so much from taking his courses.
The best prof. I have ever had! He is a superb lecturer, and has a GREAT sense of humor. I mean, he is SUCH a funny guy! I loved comming to his classes. He is accessible to students, and really cares about helping you do better if u seek his help.
talk to him!! meet with him!!! it's the only way to survive. He's pretty boring.
unless you are absolutley in LOVE with history DO NOT take this class!! it will bore you to death! He thinks he is really witty and intelligent about history, i slept through every class because it is impossible to understand or pay attention
Yes, you have to work in his class. But he is a very good professor and knows what he is talking about. I enjoyed the class and thought the test were fair.

A great professor. He is a little tough but he keeps things light and tells great stories. You have to keep up with the readings but they are interesting most of the time. If you ask him for help understanding something, he is really willing to help. He likes class involvement so talking will get you far.
He is a very good teacher. He is really witty and very sarcastic. either you like him or hate him and I liked him. the tests are sort of hard, but you cannot miss one class or you will miss everything.
I enjoyed his class.
He was a very interesting teacher. There is a lot of outside reading and some of them are actually interesting. You have to go to class, if you don't you'll be lost and will not do well on the test
I've taken 3 classes with Teeter. He knows his stuff and will keep you interested. He's a badass - I didn't realize how great of a teacher he was until I came to UGA and have Susan Mattern for an Ancient History teacher. She makes me want to put a bullet in my head every class, and I'm a Classics major being interested in Ancient History.
Dr. Teeter is a great History professor, he doesn't have an attendance policy but if you miss class you WILL miss out on crucial material. I have had him 3 times so far, and I am planning on taking him many more times. His classes do require a lot of reading, but the exams aren't so bad for the lower level classes (HIST 1112, 1111).
His lectures are very long. Hard to understand everything he is saying cause he talks so fast. His exams are blue books and he is very hard on grading them. Take this class at your own risk.
Teeter is a good teacher for those who like and understand history. All he does is lecture and his powerpoints are hard to understand and he talks super fast. He's very willing to help you though.
The tests are m/c with an essay. The essay is 20% of the grade. Final grade comes from 4 tests. He talks really fast and curses, but it's manageable. He shows pictures of what he's teaching which helps, and he often relates it to modern times in some way. Interesting course, and pretty good professor.
Talks wayyy tooo fast...says "uhhhhh" a lot. His tests can make or break you, because we only have 4 grades which are the four tests..I had a "B" going into the final, and came out with a "C".
I am a history major, so it comes pretty easy to me. But when I sat in class I felt as if I didnt know what was going on. I was constantly referring to the text book because he went way to fast during his lecture. I never understood why he said "Oh god to Betsy no". The multiple choice questions were unbelievable... were nothing like the lectures.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He is the worst excuse for a teacher I have ever had. I'm a history major and have done very well so far, he has screwed my GPA. There is only 100 points given 25 per test.If you miss 10 questions throughout the 4 exams you got a B. On the Essay questions he never gives more than 3 points so you start the semester with a 92.
Read some of the other comments. Please. Teeter knows his stuff, he lives and breathes what he teaches. It's OUR job as students to be in class, read, and get the notes. It's what we're here for, folks. Shape up and quit whining. He's a great teacher. Just be sure to get the notes, and be prepaerd to learn!
I took this class this summer and came out with an A. I am by no means a history person, but if you go to class and read the chapters and take good notes, you will do fine. I'm glad I took him.
He is a great teacher! although he talks really fast! He also takes a lot of his test questions from his lectures so go to class!!!
Good teacher and knows what he is talking about. Spends most of his time teaching about Europe. Tests aren't bad if you go to class, because most all his questions come straight from his lectures. Some outside reading, but it isn't bad. He talks fast but he will repeat things if you need him too.
I attended every class and studied a lot for this class but I will only get a C or B. Notes are extremely unclear, speaks way too fast and jumps form things to things randomly. He knows a lot about history but doesnt know how to teach it to people who don't know a lot about history = bad teacher.Adds extra questions to tests but they're still hard.
tests are extremely hard and grades very harshly. no extra credit/projects or anything.4 tests - 20 ?s. 2 books per chapter - 5 possible pts. BORING! and says "Heavens to Betsy no" way too much. BUY A VOICE RECORDER! I would not have made it in this class without mine. I wouldn't take him again unless I HAD to.
AWFUL teacher!!! so boring and jumped from topic to topic! notes are pretty unclear, and requires a lot of boring readings. if you know history then youll be fine... if not DO NOT take this class.
If you don't like going to class don't bother. No attendence policy but if you miss class you have no chance of passing. Hard tests based mainly off of unclear notes. A lot of reading very boring books. Not for someone who finds history boring.
VERY HARD! you have to read a lot in his class and he is extremely difficult to follow in his lectures! His notes are not the great and tests are difficult! DO NOT take him unless you already KNOW history!
Very Hard Teacher. Makes the class alot harder than it should be. Test are hard with essay responses. Lectures are not exciting even though attendance is not mandatory, notes are the only thing that can help you
Worked like crazy trying to get an A in this class and came out with a B. He said the first day that he doesn't "give out" As, and he means it. The essay part of the test isn't horrible, as long as you write his opinion of the book, but the multiple choice is killer. While at times the lectures can be somewhat interesting, it's just not worth it.
Okay, his tests are *not* difficult. You must go to class in order to pass them but so long as you show up, it's easy. The reading is a little difficult to grasp sometimes but I think he takes that into account on the essays. He's very helpful, extremely funny and a terrific lecturer. I would recommend him. He made bits of history I find boring fun
He's not as difficult as some of these other reviews make him out to be. Read the "extra" readings and the essays won't be hard. Skip out on buying the main textbook though because it is NOT used. His tests are strictly lecture. Interesting guy. My only complaint was that the fist 2 tests were very easy and the last 2 were much more specific.
Great professor. Knows and loves his topic. Great lecturer, so don't interrupt his flow with superfluous comments. Listen, take notes, and READ assignments and you'll do fine. 2 exams (essay with about 25 multiple choice) in this upper division. Essays come from readings. 12-15 page research paper due at end of semester.
He knows his stuff and is a hilarious teacher but it is very difficult to keep up with him because he talks so fast. His test aren't THAT difficult but it's a lot of information to study. He hates when people cut him off during lectures but other than that he's a nice guy.
He's a great teacher if you can keep up with him. His tests are hard, and attendance isn't mandatory but if you want to pass his harsh grading, all you have to do is attend class. Learned a ton of material. He knows his stuff. Definitely recommend him for those who like fast pace learning. Gives lots of readings. Warning-tests have essays.
I took Teeter's summer course and found it to be a breeze. Once the initial drop offs who relied exclusively on the responses online and post-first testers were gone, the class flowed very well. Though Teeter talks a little faster than what we might be used to, he had no problem repeating a certain point, if needed.
He is a great teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory, you must go to class and take notes to do well on the tests. The tests directly reflect notes and what he goes over in class. I do not like history, but I made an A on every test. It is easy to make an A if you go to class and do the outside readings.
If you aren't someone who knows a lot about history, I wouldn't suggest taking this class. 4 tests, 25 points each, so if you miss one question on a test, you have a 99 in the class. Barely slipping out with a B, and I worked my butt off. Never missed a class either. Textbook isn't necessary at all. Be very careful of taking Teeter.
He is a terrible teacher, his class is nothing but lecture no slides, no book work, and only four test that has nothing to do with world history. all he talks about is religion not history. Just another professor that thinks they are better than everyone and does not care about you as a student even if you go to class andhs office. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He got me into history. Listen and ask if you don't understand. I took many classes with him as an undergrad, and loved them all. If you can't keep up, remember this is college; you actually need to work a little to get a good grade.
For anyone to say that Prof. Teeter is not helpful or doesn't care is not being accurate. He actually taught a Latin class even though he knew he would not receive compensation from the university, just so students could get the needed credits for graduation. Tough professor, but fair. Just do the work.
Teeter is a great teacher overall. Don't buy the textbook !! tests are straight from notes! read the extra books to do well on essays. He talks fast so be prepared to take notes like crazy! If you take good notes and review the main topics/people/dates/wars etc you will make an A like me.
On the whole, a good lecturer; not easy, but not unreasonably difficult, and very fair. Not great at budgeting time in lectures, so we ran 5 minutes over nearly every class, but that's minor. I enjoyed the class, Teeter is really worth taking. A bit of a gruff exterior, but a nice guy. Take him!
Teeter was a great professor. You could tell he loved what he was talking about. As long as you attended class and studied notes you will get A's. No need to read any outside books, textbook or literature. The tests are straight from the notes. He is also a slow grader but will always throw in extra bonus questions on the tests. Easy A if you study
Teeter is a great guy. I can see where someone who doesn't like history or isn't naturally good at it might have trouble. I was so interested in his class. Hilarious lectures. Great teacher. If you're a good notetaker and studier, you're set for an A. But if you miss even one class, it's hard to make up the notes you missed
He talks very fast. you must go to class to know the material. he will lecture the entire class and will go over a few minutes every class. You must take good notes in order to do well in the class. READ THE BOOKS or you will not do well on the tests. your only grades are the tests. Take good notes, study the notes and you will do fine on tests.
Dr. Teeter knows his stuff and he's super smart. I knew nothing about history, came in and studied my butt off and got an A. Read the books he assigns, if not you won't be able to write the essays. Attendance isn't mandatory but go because it's a lot of material. You can get an A if you try.
Professor Teeter is a very smart professor. He knows what he is teaching. However, this class is straight lecture. You have four total grades, all being tests. The tests are only 20 questions and very difficult. You MUST read the books he assigns or you will fail.
Teeter is the worst professor I have ever had. He is rude and very unhelpful. He makes fun of people for not understanding what he is saying. His lectures are long and cover A LOT of material. He does not have any main focal points for people to observe, so you pretty much guess through the test. Oh, and get ready for essays on the tests. AVOID!!!
Teeter is a very smart man. Don't take this class if you are lazy. It's a LOT of work. There are only 4 grades in this course (all tests). Each test has an essay as well. Great teacher for students who are willing to work for a good grade!!!
Office hours - TAKE ADVANTAGE !He goes on tangents in class and if you arent a good note taker you will write down a bunch of nothing. When in office hours, read the parts of your notes aloud (main topics and dates etc) and he will give you a better understanding and what to study for. Very kind and respectful just boring subject DO THE READING.
There are no projects, homework, or extra credit to help get your grade up, only the 4 tests. Class isn't mandatory but you need his notes because that is what is on the test. You will study TONS of material & only a little bit of it will be on the test & it'll be worded so difficultly. He is the hardest teacher I have ever had. STAY AWAY.
he makes us read a lot, which wouldn't be terrible if he provide us with enough time to read the whole book.
Teeter is an overall great professor, at first I didn't like him or his class. Classes are straight lecture but he's funny so its alright. If you read your notes, you'll be set for the tests. Just be willing to write down what he says, and every now and then read the textbook to back up what you wrote.
He obviously has a passion for history. Though the class is only an hour and 15 minutes, it sometimes seems longer, because he talks THE WHOLE TIME. You MUST go to class and take notes, and by this I mean type every single thing he says or you will miss something that may be on the test. The tests are very difficult and there are no other grades.
I was not a fan of Prof. Teeter. He is obviously very knowledgeable on what he's talking about, but he doesn't simplify it very well. He lectures from beginning to end like it's a race, and rarely allows you to ask a full question before trying to answer it. If you aren't already well versed in the subject, you'll likely have a hard time.
Teeter is a wonderful person, truly knowledgeable about his subject, but this was rough. I'm the type of student who rarely makes less than an A, and I likely won't leave this class with more than a C. He lectures for what feels like hours and you must write every word he says with little powerpoint help. Whole grade is based on 4 tests only.
Class is 100% lecture. You'll spend the entire time trying to write down every word that he says because that's all you get to study for the test. The only grades in this course are 4 tests. His lectures would be so much better if he would: A) SLOW THE HECK DOWN B) Go in a chronological order C) Provide a handout or a summary sheet for each section
Good guy but extremely hard professor. As a senior in school and a history major, I have found him the most challenging. Also the first C I have received from a history professor in college. Teeter cares and knows what he's talking about, just extremely hard to do well on his tests. Good luck if you take him
I've had Dr. Teeter for two courses and I'd definitely take him again. Smart man with a dry sense of humor. Depending on the course you take, the class will be structured around only a few tests so study hard for those. Very fair grader. No attendance policy, but if you show up regularly he'll throw some extra points your way.
Professor Teeter wasn't too bad. He was pretty humorous throughout class and pretty chill. However, all of the notes are either spoken and you have to catch the details, or are written broadly on the screen. The test were passable. He's not bad, but it's kind of difficult to follow along.
No HW, Some extra credit, 4 Exams, that's it. Read the texts assigned b/c that is the essay portion. Take notes but really LISTEN to his lectures that is what the multiple choice questions are made from. Other than that he was a very entertaining lecturer with his witty humor and liberal commentary on the state of overall human intelligence.
You only get 4 tests for the semester and those are the only grades. His lectures are fast and he rambles a lot. The powerpoints are just names of people or important events and he refuses to share them with you to make note taking easier. You never know what hes going to ask. The essay portion if each test is doable if you read the assigned book.
I took professor Teeter for Hist 1112, and Im not an exceptional history student but I am able to work and get a good grade. He is the worst professor I have ever had, and do not recommend him to anyone. You get 4 tests the entire semester, and there is zero telling what will be asked. Do not take him.
If you like learning new information about what you think you know about Rome and Greece take Teeter. Here is a professor who really cares and is passionate about what he teaches and it's not like you sit there, he has been to the places he talks about many times that you learn so much more from him. Highly recommend if you want a fun teacher.
He was very knowledgeable about all of the information and was very entertaining to listen to. The reading material is inexpensive. There are literally only 4 tests and a final. I would understand the material better (even be more motivated to learn it) if there were some sort of project or mini quizzes to help cusion my grade.
Quick what's the color of Napoleon's white horse, who's buried in Grant's tomb, and is Teeter's tough class hard? Yes, the class' only grades are four tests. You have to study so much material for the tests and it's overwhelming. He also says the same jokes all the time. I can tell you at least three of them from heart, hence the first sentence.
Doesn't use folio. Grades on four tests and that's it. Lecture is the only way to get the information. Book is helpful but doesn't make up for the class. Pretty funny. Hard to get in touch with outside of class.
i was very hard on Teeter for the beginning of the semester. i felt lost in lectures and did not understand the reading- or his dry humor. however, by the end of the semester he had changed my mind. The class is simple: show up, take notes on lecture. thats all, and once you actually commit to doing it, you will do well. I would take him again.
Mr. Teeter is a nice guy. I don't think he was very interested in teaching this past semester. He had some family trouble. I think if that wasn't a factor he would be a happier guy. He's not the worst teacher ever. Also, he makes some negative comments about Trump every single class.
I loved having him this past semester for his Roman History class. He was always willing to help and is very passionate about his job and the subject matter. The tests were truly impossible to fail unless you literally never showed up to class or read at all. Only downside he is very liberal and vocal about it, just teach without politics bro.
he lecturers a lot and doesn't have power points, but if you are a history major this class would be great to take. he is funny and his class is very educational.
There were 4 test throughout the semester and the test were easy enough and based completely off of the notes. The only thing is that there are readings that come in his course pack that we have to read for the short response part of the test, Other than that the class wasn't difficult.
I recommend going to office hours he will help you some but his class is very hard and requires lots of reading
I love professor Teeters class. Take good notes and always read the material. If you study your notes it shouldnt be hard to pass at all. At times it seems like he goes very fast, but you cant expect a slow pace for hundreds of years, either. He also does a good job relating material to modern day society. I recommend if you enjoy learning.
You will only have 4 test grades in the class then the final. So I hope you study. He's funny in class and all but he zooms through the material. In his class, you HAVE to go to lectures, read the textbook, and do the readings to do well. If you had more grades it probably would be better cause other things will affect your grade but you don't.
Teeter is a funny guy and he is very passionate about his job. The only thing I hated about this class is that there are only 4 exams and nothing else. You have no other cushion. Also, he lectures A LOT and you never know whats gonna be on the test so you have to study everything. He also doesnt lecture straight off powerpoints.
Teeter is very passionate about his classes and that makes him fun. HOWEVER, he only gives 4 tests (no extra credit) and theres so much reading. You cant slack off in this class and expect to pass. Also, I bought the textbook and never used it. So, you can do fine without it as long as you pay attention in class.
not a class i would ever take again (your average college student) / only 4 test all very hard
Professor Teeter gets such a bad rep, but he is honestly not that bad of a teacher. His class is hard, but if you attend class regularly and read the required material (it's a lot of reading, but it's possible to manage), you can easily pass the class with a decent grade.
If you want to be STRESSED & FAIL a class please take this man. There are only 4 tests NO assignments that could possibly help you boost your grade. Over half of my class withdrew from the class bc tests are that hard. only 20-23 questions on each test and NO STUDY GUIDE. he mainly lectures so there is almost nothing on his powerpoints. DONT DO IT
In a perfect world, you could show up to class everyday, take good notes, and study well, then you'd pass. But he only has 20-25 questions on the test out of 10 back-to-back pages of notes. No study guide. How can you know what to focus on? Only lectures. Only 4 tests. At least he is an interesting character, witty, a bit humorous. Don't do it.
He only grades you on your test. If his test weren't online then I would've failed. He was a good teacher but just too much information to remember for the test. Would take again if it was online, would not if it wasn't online.
Overall this was one of my favorite classes this year. He didnt give us any quizzes and we had four tests all based on the information he had gone over since the previous test. He had main points on his PowerPoints but the main information came from what he spoke on off the screen. Overall a very good professor and easy to listen to.
Teeter is a great professor. Lectures can be boring but you really do learn a lot from them. Youre only graded on four tests. Tests are very straightforward. Most of the questions are from the lecture and your essay is over the reading.
This is based on his class being online. There are only 4 exams and they are about 22-25 questions. I heavily suggest attending his lectures because the multiple-choice questions are based on them. Do not only take notes off the ppt but actually listen to what he says. The essay question is based on separate books he expects us to read.
STAY AWAY FROM TEETER! Well unless you want a serious challenge. I am a straight-A student and this professor eludes me. He has not changed his teaching style in over a decade (admitted to us students during a lecture). He's also very patronizing. 4 exams worth 25p no extra credit no hw. First exam I got a D and half the class failed, not worth it!
Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss class you won't know whats going on. No homework or classwork only tests every couple weeks over weeks of lessons. extra credit is hella long for like 3 points. doesn't upload anything on folio unless most of the class complains. doesnt even upload the power points from the lectures so take detailed notes.
Teeter is a stern guy but he's actually pretty cool too. Super knowledgeable and gives great lectures. There is a ton of reading, but he makes it sound like the class will be a lot harder than it is. Read the texts, take notes, show up, perhaps watch youtube videos on the topics, and you'll pass with an A or B, otherwise, you'll definitely fail.
Only four tests all semester, no homework or quizzes. Apparently doesn't know how to use a computer, because he won't post anything on Folio. Stay away from him unless you have a photographic memory.
Only 4 test
It doesn't seem like he cares about student's success in understanding this course at all. If we don't answer a question he asks, he makes fun of us for not saying anything and mocks us. That doesn't make us want to answer any better than before. The notes he shows in class have zero detail. I've learned more from the textbook than listening to him
DO NOT TAKE. Teeter is a very strict grader with very confusing tests. Only 4 tests for the whole course. No extra credit. If you miss a test, makeup test day is days before final exam (4th test). None of the questions used on tests come from the textbook given for the class. Honestly the worst decision I ever made was not withdrawing in time.
DO NOT TAKE!! Teeters teaching style is very outdated. He posts nothing online, you have to keep track of everything. Lectures are very all over and have 0 structure. He really overcomplicated this class, and when you need help he mocks you in a way. He has his tenure.. so at this point, he doesn't even care. Find another professor.
I wish I had dropped this class. I have never hated a class more. Horrible teaching structure. When he announces more than half the class failed last semester.. that is a problem. Clearly, he thinks he is not the issue, but he is. He spends half the class on a tangent rather than teaching. Do not take him.
Teeter is an interesting character and a pretty funny dude. His upper level classes are very difficult to take notes for and pretty hard to study for though. He knows what he's talking about, but sometimes it's a little difficult to take it in. I think he grades fairly though and overall pretty good.
I don't recommend taking this class AT ALL. Teeter isn't a mean or evil person in any way, I feel that he has no business teaching anything. His class is lecture-heavy, the powerpoints have little information on them, so you have to take notes on what he's saying. (Which I feel isn't correct info) He doesn't post ANYTHING online at all either. READ
Dr. Teeter is a great professor. His classes may be challenging, but you will do fine if you meet with him and engage in discussion during class. Reading the required texts and asking questions is also crucial to passing his classes.
Going into this class I had high hopes that I would at least walk out with an A or high B but that was definitely not the case. If I were you I would try and take any other world history class. When they say this is a lecture class it truly is so don't even think about missing any classes. His teaching definitely has not changed over the years.
I like Professor Teeter as a person, but if you have to take History 1111 for your major, I severely recommend finding another professor or waiting another semester until someone else is teaching it. This class is difficult and you cannot miss a lecture because nothing is posted online and his powerpoints don't even really relate to the test.
Many tests but maybe two discussion posts.
As a person Teeter is okay. However, as a professor I recommend staying far away. You have four tests in this class and that is it. The reading material is extreme. If this is the only class you take you might be okay. If you have any other classes get a different professor. Its like he enjoys making his class as miserable as he is a teacher.
This course was ok. He gives 5 total grades that are all test over the material each week. The questions on the quiz did not always align with what was read in the book and are worded difficult. Weekly readings were around 10-15 chapters in the textbook and then pretty much the entire book of the special readings.
Stay far away. Test are awful and grades the essay question at the end extremely hard. You will never get all 5 points and will be lucky to get 3. Puts nothing online and does not care about how well you do in his course.
This class is hard if you don't go. Class isn't mandatory but you will be lost if you don't ever go. Notes are harder to take in class because the PowerPoints are his talking points so read the textbook before class; it literally goes in order of what he talks about in class. There are only exams and bonus questions at the end of the exams.
Professor Teeter's class is challenging, with weekly tests that don't always align with the textbook. The workload is heavy, but Unstuckstudy can be a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Attend all lectures and be prepared to work hard for a decent grade.
Worst Professor there is. I took this class online and we were graded by 5 tests. Each test contained 15 questions and a essay question. If he suspected a majority of the class used chat gpt he would give the whole class a 0 on the essay portion. He would also grade the essays awfully harsh.
I would NOT take this course in person. Online really wasn't bad, your grade is only 5 exams, but he gives a chance for extra credit at the end of the semester. He does have a question discussion board that he seems to answer pretty quickly, and if you email him, he will tell you what you did wrong on the exams.
Ppl here are way too harsh on this professor, at least in my experience. He's mid. Wouldn't take his class if it wasn't online. Grading criteria can be unclear (esp on essays in his tests). Most info will come from his lectures, but can be confusing on what to study from. Only gives 5 tests. Be prepared to order at least 5 textbooks.
