If you are taking this class to fill a requirement, then u might want a different instructor. He bounces around in presenting the subject matter and it's a bit boring. If this is ur area of interest, then u could possibly benefit from his knowledge
He is a nice man, but very boring. He lectures the whole time... you have to be very interested to stay focused. I would suggect taking notes!
He is a very good teacher. If you study the book and listen to his lectures you’re A is guaranteed. He exactly mentions what to study so be awake in the class and take note. He also understands every student situation as well. I enjoyed his class and his lectures. Lectures are clear and very helpful for your grade. I recommend him to all.

if you just memorize the study guide you will do good on the exams, & he lectures the whole class which is really boring
Amazing class and great teacher.. Wolter is friendly, helpful and makes the class fun. There is a lot of reading but the essays and exams are easy. He does not assign a lot of homework except for reading. As long as you pay attention and take light notes , you will get a high grade.
Lectures are kind of boring and he is all over the place when he talks.do your study guides and study and you well do good. 3 papers and 3 test and a final. class isnt to hard but its not the easiest.
He's an awesome teacher. His lectures and study guides are very understandable.
AMAZING once again! Prof Wolter is a knowledgeable and fun teacher. I took him for HUM I and HUM II. His course work is easy and he provides study guides for the exams. During his lectures he mentions answers to the study guide so be on alert. Also the 3 papers are 500 words, one from the book, a museum trip & a concert(play, performance).
Mr.Wolter is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. He tries to make the class interesting and is willing to help all the students who would ask him. The assignments are fun and easy and if you know your study guide, and A is guarenteed. I am really happy that I took this class and would gladly be willing to take him again.
Hes ok just a little off the wall always brings up old stories of himself in class and gets to talking off subject the majority of the time. I'm saying ok bc he is a little hard to get used to teaching style but not too too bad.
Wonderful professor! I will take him again for HUM 2! Bounces around and gets ecxited about the subject, very knowlegable. Highly reccomended if you like lecture and stories!
Professor Wolter is an amazing teacher! You will learn loads in his class as long as you attend class and study. He can be a bit goofy sometimes, but trust me, you will love it! I am taking him again for HUM 2 and any other class that he may be teaching. This class isn't necessarily an easy A, but if you truly want to learn then it's worth the work
Great professor. Sometimes wanders and gets a little off topic, not funny at all, but easy class. He's friendly, helpful, and really cares a lot about what he's teaching. If you keep up with the work, you shouldn't have a hard time at all.
Wonderful professor! Passionate about the subject and really wants students to learn. Offers study guides that, if completed and studied, ensure an A on the exams. I took him for every class he teaches!
This is one of my favorite professors ever. He is really good at working with you if you have a problem. I had a family member die, and got the flu multiple times during the semester. He was totally willing to work with me, and understanding. His class is not hard, if you do the basic reading. His tests are straight from the study guides.
Easiest teacher ever. Gives answers to readings questions. Gives answers to study guides, test comes right from SG. Can be a little boring but its worth the easyness. only 3 short papers. Take him if you can.
GREAT teacher! Tests come straight from the study guide and answers are given in class. He is caring and very kind. I had a medical emergency and he was very understanding. He even sent me an email letting me know he heard about my issue and also added a list of things I missed. GREAT GREAT teacher, highly recommend.
Fantastic teacher!! Great personality, quirky, knows his stuff. Would recommend him to anyone needing Humanities. Easy if you pay attention and he works from the book. Tests are easy. Papers are easy as well. Loved him!
Hard tests, does EVERYTHING from the book. A lot of studying is expected. Nice guy and knows a lot. But not the easiest Humanities course at SPC
Not sure the fuss about him being hard. If you put in the time, it's an easy A. Too many people are not disciplined and they are the ones complaining a/b the difficulty of the work. It's an easy A, come to class, do the reading that's req'd, study the study guide and you're guaranteed an A. He loves his job and it shows.
Passionate. Very fair--just do the chapter study questions and complete his assignments--good grade.
Read the textbook on your own. Finish reading assignments to get them out the way. Talks the whole period. Boring class. To succeed do study packets and study them for good grades.
I absolutley enjoyed his class! There isn't alot of work and the tests are from the study guides, so as long as you do those and show up for class, you do fine. I learned alot from this class.
Didn't much care for his class. He talked the whole time. I did the study guides and the next readings while he was talking. Two papers, one for a museum visit and the other for a performance visit. If you like the Humanities, take his class. If you don't, I suggest another teacher. He knew a lot about the subject, just lectured the entire time.
I really enjoyed this class. Compared to other classes I've taken he is very clear about what he expects to get a good grade; which is do the study guides. Sometimes goes off on a tangent/stories but I found it interesting. He loves Humanities and really seems to enjoy his job. I would recommend him and am planning to take his HUM 2230 class too.
A lot of work. Kind of preachy but not in a bad way just a lot of anecdotes. Do the study guides and at least scribble something down for the journals and papers and it's an easy A.
Study the study guides! The exact questions will be on the test. Be sure to read the reading assignments because there will be group discussions. Very strict on attendance and being on time. Talks 15 mins. before giving you the test! Talks alot! But enjoyed the lecture mixed with videos.
his work is not hard, but you have to turn it in on time. There are several tests, but he give you a study sheet, He's passionate about Humanities so you get the whole scope of the book
Use the study guides and you're golden, He was a nice guy, I enjoyed this easy class and am in fact taking him again.
He is a straightforward teacher with what he wants and very easy. Im in HUM2210 and so far all of our tests/exams are online, they are all based on the study guides so you get to use them on your exams. I have no complaints about him besides that he lectures the entire class, which is pretty boring. But other than that, it's an easy A.
He is direct and to the point, follow the syllabus, do the study guides, two papers, one a museum visit and one a performance also the readings at the end of each chapter. Tests are online and follow the study guides. He takes attendance every class. He does not want to hear excuses. Do the work and get an A.
This guy looks like Steve Jobs BTW but its a easy class for him but its alot of work. 10 quizzes, 2 essays, 3 online test which is 50 questions each, and the study guides are time consuming unless you put in your effort. Gives extra credit so take it for granted.
A pretty boring guy with dry jokes. In class he repeats everything that is in the book and likes to take a major portion of the class to talk about other things. The tests are not hard. I did not like mandatory study guides.
Very straight forward, two papers, study guides for each chapter and 3 test. Great professor. Take him if you need humanities.
He does not use study guides any more. Most boring teacher ever and most of what he says isn't even on the test. Always people sleeping. If you take notes and do the chapter quizzes you will do well. I would have actually enjoyed the material with a different teacher I think.
Very boring class, a lot of work
Quiz for every chapter, 3 unit tests, 2 papers and a group presentation, a lot of reading, very boring...
It honestly depends on the type of person you are when you take this class with him. Anyone could have easily gotten an A, however it's the way he teaches that turns some people the other way. He doesn't do slides and do the quizzes because they're easy to forget. Just read and you'll be okay and I know he talks a lot, just try and pay attention :)
He was a good professor ., he can be a bit boring but he is passionate about what he teaches . he has online quizzes about once a week , from the book and he allows two tries. Has 3 unit three exams .. if you study the online quizzes and notes given during class its an easy A
If I had 2 hours left to live I would spend them in his class because it feels like an eternity. It was supposed to be a blended class but he makes you do everything online, read 2chaps per week and take 2quizzes online. In class he talks out of the book about those 2chaps you already read. Easy since all quiz/tests are online & so are the answers.
If you are lazy or immature, don't take this class. I got a 99.3% in this class. It was so easy. All you have to do is show up, read the book while he lectures, and go home and take the easiest quiz of your life. He gives you all the answers to the quiz, and they are straight from the book. The test are easy if you take the quizzes. Its an easy A.
Great teacher, very understanding.
Amazing teacher and very friendly person in general. As long as you do his assignments (which there are many) then you'll have no problem getting a decent grade. The only thing that I dislike is that he mandates two off campus assignments, a museum visit and a performance. Hard for me because I have no transportation and very little money.
Responds very quickly, class is pretty easy if you follow the course content.
This is a very easy class tests are done at home with study guides that give you 90% of the answers. But you must come to class and participate you have to write 2 paper one on a performance which you must attend and a museum visit. Lastly he has a NO CELL PHONE POLICY and he is crazy strict about it
He takes attendance every single day, so do not expect to miss a class. He will make you leave if he catches you on your phone and gets very angry whenever someone tries to leave early or go to the bathroom. I would not recommend him, he treats students with minimal respect and simply reads out of the textbook,
I am an older student and he assumed I didn't know how to use the computer but I reassured him that was not a problem. I do find his lectures a bit boring . He takes attendance daily so be prepared to show up and turn off the cell. The mandated play" Little shop of Horrors" not my cup of tea, I have little money and had to drive to Clearwater :-/
Honestly, he does a lot of talking, and you will NEVER leave early. I didn't enjoy the class at all, I hated going, since he does keep track of how many days you miss. I slept most of time.
The quizzes are taken online and they are pretty easy. The midterm and Final or Test 1 and Test 2 are taken at home and as well not that hard. He looks exactly like Steve Jobs, wears the same glasses and clothes like him and has the same movements. Did not like mandatory museum visit and play, which you have to write essays on.
He is very enthusiastic about the material he teaches, there are open discussions, tests and quizzes are all done online at home. 2 papers - you need to go to the museum Performances. he is Not a tough grader. easy A.
Mr. Wolter is very kind and truly cares about what he's teaching. His class is very lecture heavy though, and can become boring. The more that you participate the better the class will be. There a two papers, quizzes on every chapter, two exams, and a group project. Check My Courses often and stay up to date on when quizzes are due.
I took this class during the summer and received a 100% A so I can tell you exactly what it takes to pass. You have to read a chapter per week (two for summer classes). Show up to every class. I don't recommend taking his summer course it's allot of reading. Tests are open book at home.
Very fair. Gives enough time for each quiz and paper. Only 2 papers.
I had him for Intro to Humanities. He might be better in one of his other classes, but I don't recommend him for this one. He doesn't post lecture notes online to try to encourage students to attend class, but my class still had an attendance problem despite this. Lacks efficiency in some areas. Exams were online & timed. Attendance + Notes Pass.
Had him for Intro to Humanities, Course HUM1020 wasn't an available option for the review. This class is an easy A if you're willing to do a bit of work. There's 3 papers total. A chapter quiz weekly, and 3 unit exams. There's also a short presentation. Lectures are unfortunately pretty boring but he cares about his students success.
Lectures kind of dry, but he's humorous. If you can sit through that and sarcasm you can make it through. Only 2 papers where you have to go to a museum and a performance. Quizzes are easy, do them all, test are great if you know how to "study" for them. Show up because it will hurt your grade if you dont. He allows make up work, which is a plus.
He is a great professor, he keeps the lectures interesting and innovative. He is caring and helps anybody who needs it. If you want to take an interesting class take this one.
He grades based on how he "feels". Even if you write everything he asks for, he will say he "felt" that your paper deserved insert grade here. PowerPoints with notes not online. Can go through them fast. Notes are important, allowed on tests. His grading is frustrating but good grades are possible. Could probably find a better teacher out there.
I loved taking Prof. Wolter for my HUM class! You can tell hes super passionate about teaching & is willing to work w/ students if they have late papers, There is a group project where you have to get in front of the class & talk but its very short & an easy grade as long as you follow guidelines. big part of grade is participation so speak up!
This was the 2nd class I took with him and it was the same thing as the 1st. Show up, read the book, take the test, write your papers and get an A. Online weekly quizzes come straight out of the book, as do the unit exams. He does not give a final, but there are two papers to write.
I really like this professor, VERY lecture-heavy.
One of the worst professors by far that i have ever had. For a simple HUMANITIES CLASS, you are required to show up every day, write three papers, do a group assignment, take a quiz once a week, and 3 exams PLUS MORE. He's boring and comes off pretty rude. He should be a high school teacher, not a college professor.
Easy class. Professor will grade paper on whether or not it is interesting so do not wait till the last minute.
This is my 2nd time taking Professor Wolter. It's been 2 years since the 1st time and he changed his format. All quizzes are online once a week, very easy. 2 paper and 1 group presentation. Boring class but super easy. Show up to take notes and you'll get extra credit at the end of the semester.
He's very boring but the class is extremely easy. Make sure you read the book as thats where all of the quiz and exam questions come from. The essay's are very short and easy and the 3 unit exams are not difficult at all. He cares a lot about his students success and is almost always available.
I enjoyed Professor Wolter's course, he is very engaging with the class and sparks a lot of thought provoking conversations throughout the semester. You do need to read the textbook if you want to do good on his quizzes and exams as the questions are pulled directly from the chapters in the book.
Professor Wolter is a stellar professor who definitely has passion in his work. If you show up to class, participate and pay attention, you will pass with ease. He is reasonable and understands people have lives outside of school so he is willing to work with you; however, if you don't show up to the class just because, you won't succeed.
I would never take a class with him ever again. I took him for intro and the baroque class and it's the same boring painful laugh your way through it lectures. The class is super easy and you should be able to get an A, just very miserable to sit through every week. Nice guy, just didn't enjoy the way he instructed the material.
Snooze Fest. It is painful to sit through. I am a pretty engaged student and I would fall asleep sitting up in his class. There are a lot of ways to make humanities interesting or engaging and he just reads off of the power points in his soft monotone voice. He was nice and knowledgeable but was not for me!
If you are not an art major, I would HIGHLY recommend taking a different art class. He grades based on how well you draw, not how much effort you put in. So if you are not a confident artist, this class is not for you.
He is a very nice grader. I had him for Humanities online because I could not fit it in my schedule. There is a quiz and discussion or essay weekly. Just do the work and get a good grade. Textbook needed.
Super awesome humanities teacher, easy A and a really fun class to take
I thought he was funny, but Im older and understand dad jokes.
This teacher is great for an easy A in humanities if you are in need of an easy class. This was all online (not live online) and I am glad that I took this class. A lot of discussion posts that you need to respond to on time and there aren't too difficult to do either. One big essay due at the end--there's no final exam.
I found Prof Wolter's classes to be clear and on point. Every week there's an essay/ discussion post based on textbook reading and research papers mostly provided by him. There are also little quizzes, mostly on the vocab itself. You won't regret taking this class. Is no-brainer!
I like professor Wolter. You need to read the book and do an essay for each chapter. The book is engaging with a light lecture that is easy to understand. Just do the assignments, and you will get an A.
Although he can be monotone at times Professor Wolter was one of my favs. He had clear instructions and as long as you did the work you did well in his class. He also allows late work for those that may have a tough time with strict deadlines. Be prepared to read though as there is a chapter every week or two.
this professor was laid back and easy. everything is online and there are just quizzes discussion questions and two exams. his lectures aren't very exciting but just attend class and you will pass. Attendance is graded. all information is all given by a PowerPoint or a pdf. take this class.
Professor Wolter is an amazing professor. His class is very easy as long as you pay attention show up and do assignments by due date. Attending class you get 5 points each class so it's extra points that help your grade. Overall he is amazing and I would definitely take him again! Highly recommend
He is really passionate about the Humanities, arts, religion. I admire the energy he has on these topics because he genuinely enjoys talking about them even if there are few people listening. This course would require lots of reading though so I recommend finding ways to get summaries of the content if you know what I mean.
His lectures are long and boring, not one class period is fun, he takes off points if you are even 5 minutes late. hes understanding with attendance if you have a valid excuse the workload is a decent amount, but pretty easy if you pay attention. he doesn't like you using laptops in class. He prefers handwritten note taking and made it very clear.
His class is such a drag. His lectures are so boring. The work is easy you don't even have to go to class to get A's on all the assignments and he always goes to the time.
This class is such an easy A. You don't need to show up to understand, the only problem is that attendance is a grade and the lectures so incredibly boring that it makes me not want to go. He doesn't allow phones so you pretty much have to watch the lecture and take notes. This is the easiest class ever and straight forward, just is really boring.
Professors lectures were cool and inspiring until you realized everything he teaches you is not on the quizzes or exams. Have to do alot of reading and teach yourself. Attendance is mandatory and he gets an attitude when you no show or leave early. I give him credit for the passion he has for humanities. teach the course not teach for passion.
Nice guy. Class was pretty easy to understand, but classes felt really useless half the time; brought up his trip to Lithuania at least once every single day (I counted), and multiple instances where almost the entirety of a class period was spent talking about himself.
(this is reviewed a few years later) He was one of my first professors when I did dual enrollment and he was awesome! He was friendly and I shared my art with him. A lot of people say his class was boring but I was very interested in what he was teaching- the reading was a little heavy with having to read chapters weekly
He's friendly, makes expectations clear, and gives time for note-taking before proceeding. You're going to read every chapter of the book and have to take quizzes on it, but as long as you pay attention, read the book + take notes, and just generally comprehend the topic, you'll get an A. He'll only bring up Lithuania now and then lol. Good dude.
He is a great teacher, but when doing lectures talks about himself a lot and goes some classes without actually taking notes so sometimes it is boring. He does do pop paragraphs sometimes there are about 6 of them so if you do 5 the other is extra credit and if you miss one the 6th is a make up. Does lots of discussions too so be prepared.
Easy class and nice guy however I found the lectures every class very boring, he also does pop paragraphs based on the lectures content so take some notes during it. Overall a good class just a little bit boring.
I did not have any problems taking humanities with Professor Wolter. It is a prerequisite and can be at times uninteresting, but he is very nice and only asks to be participating and not being distracted. There are 6 pop paragraphs and 5 count, so take notes. Reading the textbook did feel like a drag, but overall not a bad class.
