Simply amazing teacher. I took her for a summer course and her pace is awesome. She is really nice and funny. She explains math so well. I was scared before starting the class, but she is so cool and I got an A. Show up to every class, do your homework, and study.

Took math 89 with her this summer and honestly would recommend to anyone! She is absolutely amazing and also has a great sense of humor. Lectures are clear and straight forwards honestly to anyone who struggles with math or trying to get a good grade in the class i would recommend this teacher 100%. There are review packets she hands out as well!

tina is by far one of the best math professors i've had. she is very helpful and her notes are very detailed. she goes over things until everyone understands. she goes a little fast but she will slow down if students let her know they need a slower pace for certain concepts. if you miss a lot and have a low grade she will drop you.

Mrs. AP was bar far the best math teacher I've ever had! I was never great in math but she made everything so easy to understand! Very helpful and sincerely wants her students to pass. Gives ample review material for tests (there was only three and the final) and has an entire review class before each test. Trying to take her again for Stats!

This was probably one of the easiest math classes I've ever taken. As long as you do your homework and study with the study guides, you'll be fine. 10/10 would recommend.

Tina is an great teacher. You need to understand that she doesn't grades easy but she covers each topic in depth and breaks it down where it becomes easy for a student to learn and use the new information. If you want to learn Tina is the best Math teacher and will prepare you for the future. Hope she starts teaching Pre-Cal 2 soon! Attend class!

Mrs. AP is the best math teacher I have ever had! She gives amazing lectures than coincide with the homework perfectly. She does so much to prepare you before an exam that you'll never feel blindsided when taking a test. She encourages you to ask questions and never makes you feel stupid for not understanding something. Definitely take her class!

Tina is by far ahead of her game when it comes to being a teacher. She made Pre- Cal 1 so enjoyable and definitely made sense of each and every lesson. I would recommend Tina for anyone interested in having fun in math and learning at a steady pace. No doubt about it, best Math teacher at MJC. I'll be taking her again if I can.

Tina is an amazing professor! She prints out packets per chapter with the examples she's going to go over, so that you can easily follow along taking notes on how to solve them. Separates the math homework with a lot of time for those who like to get their work done on the weekend. Provides study guides before exams. She uses my math lab for hw.

I had her for my Math 90 class, and I wasn't a math or engineer major so I wasn't supposed to take this class. Either way her notes, and the way she explains her lectures are really helpful. I almost wanted to switch majors just so I can have another class with her. If you have no idea how math works (like me) she will explain it perfectly to you.

Very inspiring teacher! I took her 5 week summer math 90 course and did fine. Printed out lectures with problems for you to fill in along with her. 3 tests and one final with MyMathLab homework. Lectures are done through her tablet and projected on a pull down screen! Easy to follow and would take again.

She was an amazing teacher and very offered her to every single person I know that start needs to take any of the classes she teaches. She was helpful than most counselors, a great teacher, and made sure her teaching style matched everyone's learning style. She changed anything that didn't work for the class and explained things very well.

I took this class in the summer and wasn't expecting much. The first day, I knew she was going to be a great teacher. She follows her syllabus very closely and makes it available to her whole class at any time. Any time you had a question, she would answer it. If you're struggling at midnight, she will be awake to help you. Wants you to succeed.

Tina Akers-Porter is the best math professor I have had at MJC. She really cares about her students and makes herself available for you. She gives useful feedback on homework notes and the way she organizes her class makes it much easier to understand what you are doing. Highly recommend her for any math class!

Professor AP is the best teacher EVER!! She is very helpful and cares about her students. She will go over everything in her videos and is always there for you if you might have any questions. We had 2 midterms on campus and a final, but her quizzes are online. This class might be a lot of work, but doable. I would definitely take her class again!

Great Math Professor. She is very quick to return emails and is always very very helpful. Loved her hybrid class. The videos are way better than lectures since you can view them as many times as you need to. You get 2 chances to take your tests and gives great note packets to go along with her lectures. Highly recommend!!

Tina is THE GREATEST of all math professors!!! I took math 90 the times. Without her, I wouldn't have made it because she was organized, caring and never gave up on me. Thank god for her! . She cared about students passing and she's just the kind of teacher who's unforgettable.

She prints out all the notes you need so you can just listen and learn without worrying about keeping up with notes. Very caring, nice, and never makes you feel stupid for asking a question even if you feel behind. Goes above and beyond outside class hours. Definitely sign up for the 135 portion because she goes over the lab assignment directions.

tina's awesome. I've seen some comments on here about work load. Yaeh, and if you eat cheese cake it still goes to your thighs. It's math. this aint underwater basket weaving. Go to class. Do the minimal homework. Collect your A grade. Anything less than that and the weak grade you receive is on you. There's not a better math teacher here.

She is awesome! All her lecture notes are typed and she makes all the videos for her online class. The schedule is crystal clear and never changes. You know exactly what is expected of you. These other students must have expected the class to be easy because it's online. This is best math class I've ever taken.

Tina provides you with all the materials to succeed. She provides explanatory videos, note packets, and study guides. Also, she is not a harsh grader. She responds to emails on time and there is a facebook group. What more do you need to succeed? Take her, you will not regret it.

Mrs. AP is the sweetest teacher I've had the pleasure of knowing. She goes out of her way to help students - printing out study guides and class notes for everyone. She lets you use note cards on tests and genuinely cares about your progress in the class. I'm now at a CSU and severely miss her teaching methods.

Professor AP is an awesome choice, if you're looking for an online math class! She puts in so much time making her own lecture videos that are very clear and short. 2 or 3 video lectures twice a week... It's like a 2-day week for this class. Just remember to WATCH THE LECTURES before you do the homework. You'll do very well come time for the final!

Shes really cool and understanding, as well as easy to reach. Definitely a fast email responder! She is on your side, no question about it, and allows a notecard at each test and a whole paper as well as formula sheets on the final. She also has a schedule and sticks to it which is great and not confusing at all.

Mrs. AP is an amazing Math teacher! I partook in her online condensed course over the summer; although it was a lot of homework being a condensed class, she made it very organized and simple. Her videos are great and I never felt lost. The online course allows you to do homework problems step-by-step and retake tests as needed. Highly advise!

Amazing teacher overall. Was in-class type of deal and takes attendance every day, so if you wanna skip class I wouldn't although she does have online videos of the sections. Lectures never seem long or boring and cares about her students. 10/10

I am a math major but dropped out of Statistics my senior year of high school, Ive been dreading taking this class but Mrs. AP made the class extremely easy with her online video lectures, highly highly recommend, I would take her again in a heartbeat!

Professor Akers Porter is a great professor that wants you to succeed! She takes the time to record lecture videos and print out packets for you to follow along with. I took her online for Math 90 and plan on taking her again for Stats.

I was a bit worried that an online class was going to be hectic during the summer, but she makes it SUPER easy. I would definitely recommend her class either in the summer or during a regular semester. She is extremely helpful and caring.

Math has always been super difficult to me however professor Akers teaches it in a way thats sooooo easy to comprehend and her lectures answer all questions. I wouldnt take math with anyone else. Best professor you will understand even if math is hard for you as well

I detest Math and even though statistics is very challenging for me, her lectures are engaging and she tries to make things as easy to understand as possible. She is very helpful with printable worksheets to take your notes on and very organized. I think she is passionate about her job. I'm grateful I was in her class.

I have always struggled with math to the point of tears at times. With this professor she has helped make the content understandable. Her class is by no means easy, it is very challenging, but if you work hard and are dedicated to the semester you will pass. She is always available via email and responds quickly. The note packets are helpful.

honestly was so scared of statistics esp since I was also taking physio. buuuut she is an amazing professor! I took her hybrid course, her lecture videos are so long and hw can take a while to complete but I promise its manageable. she's very understanding, dont ever be afraid to email her, honestly love her so much! best stats teacher hands down.

Undoubtedly THE best choice for any math class. She's super organized, passionate & her style of teaching makes the concepts easier to understand. She provides packets of lecture notes that are basically simplified & reduced material from the textbook w/ example problems. She also has YT videos of each lesson w/in Canvas if ur absent or need review

Where do I even begin? Mrs. AP is an incredible, passionate professor. She really puts time and effort to strategically plan the course work and lectures to help you. I never considered myself good at math. She is clear and sets you up for success. Homework takes time, but do not give up and ask for help. Amazing support and fun class. THE best.

No proctorio but she interviews you after exams to see how you got your answers. Only wish she would have been a little more relaxed with final, I was so close to a B.

Professor AP's method of teaching allowed for all of us to get inspired. Her quick ability to work with our different learning styles gave us each equal opportunities to rise. Professor AP was such a good professor however, if you take the stats with the support class it is a lot of work. Even the stats class alone requires you to stay on top of things and really pay attention to her easy to follow lectures. She is a great human being and cares about you passing but by no means is it going to be a walk in the park.

I took her online class this spring and I really enjoyed her lecture videos. They were clear and concise. For me, the class was just work-heavy, but not difficult because of her great lecture videos. I did not interact with her much because of that but when I did she was very helpful. If I needed to, I would choose her again.

I had to take Stats 3 times. Yes, I admit it was not easy for me. The teacher makes a huge difference. TAKE Statistics with Akers Porter. She is a great teacher. I passed with an A. It's math so yes it is some work. But you can do it if I can do it. Take Tinas class, do all work, participate, follow the awesome guided videos and you will pass.

Tina is a great professor. She is by far the best math professor ive had while at MJC. She was very clear and cut about the grading system and stuck to it as well. Extra credit is offered! Do your homework & youll be fine. She genuinely cares about her students & is always just an email away.

If you are bad at Math I totally recommend this class, I dropped my other Stats class after the first day because it was literally horrible but Professor Tina Akers made this class so easy! I am so bad at math but if you pay attention and do your work you will succeed! she allows notes during tests! Lots of homework but easy compared to other stats

Prof. AP was so kind. I am not natural gifted at math, but she explained each topic so well, I would recommend her if math is not a strong subject for you. She was always available to talk, and encouraged me to keep trying. This was the hardest class I've ever taken, but she set up the class to be very doable!

Professor Akers-Porter was the best math teacher I have ever had. I took her for my elementary stats class my first year of community college and I have not forgotten her. I took her online class that was offered with the in-person support class. She is SO nice, accommodating, and really wants you to do great. Ask questions!

This professor changed my whole outlook on math, I've been bad at math my whole life so I was really nervous to take this class but she explains everything so well and is available on Facebook/email if you need extra help. She genuinely wants you to understand the material and pass the course. You can use your notes on tests too which really helps.

She explained the concepts really well, and her lecture videos break difficult concepts down and make them easier to grasp. She is super nice and accommodating. No EC. If you struggle with math, then I highly recommend this professor.

After 3 years without math, I was scared to take this class, but AP made it a breeze. She's super supportive and wants you to succeed. Failing only happens if you don't try. The assignments can be challenging as the semester progresses, but she's always available and happy to assist. Plus, she lets you use your notes on exams and the final!

I know I barley got a C, but math is a hard subject for me, and I haven't taken a math since high school and I barely passed those classes, I was afraid of taking this class because I would fail, but this teacher right here made it very easy for me, all exams were in person, but they were open book/notes. Professor Akers-Porter is by far the best professor at MJC. She cares about her students very much. You can tell in the way she gives her lectures. This is a hybrid class, online homework & the midterm/final are in person & open book. I do not like math. But Professor Akers is a great teacher and she explains EVERYTHING so well. I took her for summer course which is condensed. She provides clear helpful instructions to obtain material, course packet and charts are provided. If you watch her lectures it will be easy to complete the assignments/tests/exams.

Hard material but she presents it in incredibly thorough lectures. She is incredibly understanding and truly wants every student to do well in her class. Super intelligent person but her empathy is what impressed me most!

Prof. Akers-Porter is highly recommended! Extremely understanding and organized. Her lectures are engaging, and the provided note packets are genuinely helpful (even at 2x speed I was able to retain everything well). All assessments (HW, tests, exams) are open-note & online. There are 4 labs, 2 midterms, and a final. Be smart and take her class!!

If you follow the lectures she will do the whole note packet she gives you. She shows you step by step how to utilize the calculator and how to input the formulas into it correctly. I was very nervous taking this class but she is by far the best math teacher I have ever taken. She is caring, kind, understanding, and truly just wants you to pass.
