Assigned authors are her husband and past professors which makes all answers written in stone. Dogmatic grader. Assigns too much writing based on weak content.
Definitely not for the faint at heart. A lot of work, missing one day can really mess you up. Very fast paced, doesnt like to backtrack and HATES excuses, but she really knows her stuff. Show up and do what she tells you, and you will leave her class ready to write any paper in any class.

As long as you show up everyday and do your work you will do just fine. I was a little weak in writing papers and she did help me get through the class.
hard class to get through
She's a tart woman, very sarcastic. She speaks and writes well; she know's the English language well. She's a good teacher to have if you love to write and love English...if you're struggling with it and really are looking for more encouragement, I would not recommend her as your professor of choice.
This class is definitely not for the feint at heart if you cannot handle extreme criticism. She will put you down if you are not good at writing. Gives way too much homework for a college course. It is possible to get a decent grade. I ended up with a B but man I had to work my butt off for it! There are better English professors at CCSN.
It takes a little while to get used to her sense of humor, if you ever get used to it. She works your butt off but if you show up and do what she says you will be fine. Listen carefully to the directions and ask if you don't understand. She seems a little mean but she'll help if you ask.
Great teacher, the best english professor I ever had. Super intelligent. Be friendly and respectful and she will love you. She can be intimidating, but take her class seriously and she will give you much respect. Amazing teacher!
Don't listen to the negative comments. She is an awesome professor, and really knows what she's teaching. There are six essays and the topics are really easy. Only a handful of quizzes which you should do fine on if you pay attention. Don't make up excuses or miss class and she'll love you. Best english teacher I've ever had!!!
Took the class online. Her instructions were pretty clear. Lots of reading and 800 word essays. Also, those grammar quizzes which were very meticulous but you could take them 5 times. If you want to get an A, you have to try and work really hard. It's not an easy A.
This Professor made my first year of college a night mare. she tends to put students down!!!!! She make u feel bad in front of other class mates
Her on-line 101 course has been very straight forward. She lets you retake your on-line quizes up to five times, keeping the best grade. They are hard, but the process is fair. Very clear class. Notes very good. Weekly assignments, but manageable.
Very sarcastic, but once you get used to it its funny! She's a wonderful teacher, she really knows her stuff. NOT an easy class, there is a lot of essays! BUT it has truly helped me improve as a writer. I would recommend her!
She does NOT put students down. Great prof. Show up and put thought into your work.
Eliopulos is a great teacher. She likes it when you participate and is very helpful expecially if you speak up. She is a hard teacher as far as work load, but a lot of fun. You won't regret taking her class! Have fun and learn be prepared to learn alot about writing.
Those studetns say who she puts you down dn't listen to them she is a wonderfl teacher i had a hard time and she helped me catch up she is nice if you do your best and show up to class
She was an amazing teacher. This was an online class but she was very helpful and understanding. This was a condensed class so there was a heavier workload but that was something everyone should have been aware of before the class was started. She was very promt in answering any questions I had. I have ZERO complaints!
Horrible teacher. The assignments are a joke. She never returns messages. DONT take her or buy her worthless books.
She's a great professor! Her assignments are NOT a joke. She puts thought into them. She gives each one for a reason. It sounds like the reviewer in 6/25 just got a bad grade in her class. Ms.E returns messages and is extremely helpful. She wants her students to succeed. You just have to show for effort.
Great professor. It's easy to get an A if you show up to class do the essays, and take the quizzes. There are only about three quizzes, and if you show up, and take good notes you should pass the quizzes easily. She has a good sense of humor, the essays are easy, if you read what she assigns. I recommend her for serious students.
Great Professor.
great professor. if you want to improve your grammer definately take her class, she's a stickler for it. she'll help you with any questions you have about your work or grades.
She taught the class in a very simple way, which turned out most insightful. I would recommend her to any English or writing major.
Teacher is slightly impersonal and her assignments are a bit confusing. Honestly, class suffers significantly from use of "Reel Grammar" textbook, which, in addition to inventing its own grammatical terms (that are logically flawed), uses a mix and match device that does more to confound the student than educate.
Just finished this 4 wk online course. The essay's were graded VERY strict. I'm a decent writer and got B's and one C on my essay's. (There were 4) I'm a straight A student and got a B- in this class. The Grammar Reels are USELESS! They're worth 200 pts and the expectations are unclear. I got a 100/200 after asking her 3 times how to do them. :(
I love this professor. Best one I've had in my two years at CSN. Wish she taught other classes.
She is very clear on her words. She's professional and firm. She's not the nicest teacher, but she can be very helpful if you're really showing that you're trying to work and are having a hard time. The class isn't hard.
One of the worst professor I have had. Not helpful. Gives u way to much busy work she is not involved with the subject. You leave her a message and she will take weeks to answer it. I do not recommend her as an English instructor.
Her guidelines are clear. She takes off points for questions you forget to answer. Fine. But she also takes off major points for miniscule grammar errors that even a second or third edit may miss. Little explanation follows, & overall commentary is even shorter. I would take her class to learn basic reading comprehension & standard analysis only.
Best English teacher I've ever had. People complain about how hard she is, but she ISN'T. Read the book, follow directions, don't be a moron, and listen to her and you'll pass with a decent grade. The people who say she's bad are people who don't bother to do the work or read directions. She's gonna tell you if you suck. Stop whining.
Took her online class, she is very clear in her guidelines with what she wants. Passed her class easily however I feel I have no learned much from this class. The Grammar Reels I believe is a useless assignment. I have not really seen my own mistakes from assignments I have submitted either.
This was the worst professor I have ever had. Her critical eye when grading papers wasn't even the part that bothered me. She takes WEEKS to get grades back to you and is inconsistent with her grading scheme. I took the 8 week version of her course which consisted of 1 paper per week and some reading responses. Very hard to get an A or B.
Awesome teacher!! if you want to learn how to properly write essays this is the professor you want! if you want to take a class and hope its easy like your last, probably not the place to be. Have to attend class or you WILL fail! But hands down, she is a great teacher and others need to learn from her.
Im surprised with the negative comments. The assignments dont take but an hour a piece. I did the online class 205 and LOVED IT. You have a quiz every wednesday for 12 of the weeks, and then a writing assignment every friday, And at the end of the course you need to submit a portfolio. Simple as that. Only thing that was somewhat tough, was poems.
I took her online for creative writing. The assignments are easy if you follow directions, though I hated the poems. She does not answer emails quickly and only grades your weekly assignments once a month. She had to change the due dates several times, and forgot to post instructions for some assignments until the week before they were due.
Do not take her for online classes. She only appears to sign on to the online campus once a month for grading and to check her emails. Her final she wanted mailed in snail mail in DEC and wont even reply to say whether she had gotten it. Assignments are easy just there is just no teacher involvement.
Prof Eliopulos was wonderful. You get what you put in in her class. if your lazy and don't do the reading or assignments then you won't get a good grade. I went into this class dreading it and came out loving it. There's a fair amount of reading (I had MUCH more reading in history of Mexico class) . She's fair and very helpful. I'd take again.
She was a great teacher for the ENG 101 class online. She had 8 essays but were due by the end of the week, but they were not asking you much to do. I would recommend her for Eng 101.
I took her contemporary literature class online, which was something I looked forward to very much. Unfortunately, this teacher was extremely unhelpful. The instructions for assignments were vague and she rarely responded to emails or posted grades in a timely manner. She seemed very unaware that she even had students online. I learned nothing.
I loved her 101 class. She was very organized, very fun to listen to, and always eager to get the classroom talking. She didn't require a lot of work, we did 5 essays, a couple oral reports, and "reels" from ReelGrammar. There is a fair amount of reading, which is to be expected. Awesome professor, great class.
DID NOT enjoy this class. I took the online short course. The work load wasn't hard, but the professor took weeks to grade essays. I ended up making the same mistake twice and losing points because I wasn't aware that I made it the first time. Also I lost points for using cliches in my writing or for writing out things that are implied.
As long as you participate, you will get an A. I didn't buy a book, barely needed it. She is always there to answer questions off-semester.
she had the discussion posts open so you can do it in advance,4 essays. She doesn't respond to emails when you need her to, she answers 1 week after and you don't even get the answer you need. Its easy if you like doing things on your own and not asking for help. take a different professor for online class.
Very helpful, provides constructive criticism. A lot of reading, but that's to be expected in an English class.
The assignments weren't hard but it is the WORKLOAD she gives..OVER BOARD! She acts like her class is the only 1 students take. Some of us r full time students...n giving out 4 essays, quizzes, 2 presentations- 1 being a book borrowed from library at beginning of class required to read all n write an essay on it was just ridiculous on top of it all
Online. Need to do work. I took 4 week course so intense. Only 3 main essays and discussions. Not too difficult but need to put the work in.
This class was very challenging to me. The professor was very helpful to me. I thank her for that
Super chill class. She will challenge you a lot, but won't embarrass you in front of everyone. It's fun if you like to write and get honest feedback, which in turn will make you a better writer. :)
This was definitely one of the most challenging classes I have had. There was way too much homework for a 101 class. She grades assignments really late, so I didn't have the chance to prevent previous mistakes since she took a while to grade them. Over all she responded quickly to any questions I had. IF you want an easy class DO NOT take this one.
She's funny. But very difficult. She's very critical and grades hard on essays. Make sure you bring her book to class everyday!
She is highly intelligent and really made me think. Always looked forward to going to her class and I hate english. If you have to take english pick her pick her
I just loved Prof. Eliopulos! She is NOT an easy teacher and will read over everyone's essay and grade toughly on them. She does grade you on attendance. You will have an essay about once a week. She teaches so clearly and as long as you show up to class and learn you should have no problem getting a good grade in her class. She is so funny!
You NEED to buy her book "she wrote." You need to read. Make sure you know how to write essays. Get help if you don't, she grades tough. Also you write lots of essays all semester.
Took Professor Eliopulos for Eng.101 & 102 and would take her again. Excellent teachings with interesting, thought-provoking assignments. She does very well in teaching the ALS guidelines, and the basis for how to write good essays. Has a good sense of humor as well. Enjoyable class and teacher!
I took a 6 week fast track class online and it was wonderful. Grammar book was a hassle but all assignments are open so you can do them ahead of time. Two essays were optional to do to replace previous essay grades (if you did bad) and the weekly reading assignments aren't a pain if you read the essays they are based on.
Professor E was amazing she is in love with the English language. She makes you think, inspires you to be better and is very motivated to help. She is far about the work load and fair in her grading.
Too many essays. Tough grader. Don't take her unless you want a lot of work.
Weekly assignments are easy but she is tough on grading the essays. Takes a while to get your grade. Responds to questions with vague answers. Overall you get the grade you work for.
I took AP Lang and AP Lit before, and passed both exams. Since my current school won't accept AP credits, I signed up for this online course. I have to say that the professor's a picky and harsh essay grader. I wished she would be more precise and clear in some of her feedback and questions answered.
Good side: no final or exams. Weekly or biweekly "quizzes" in essay format about all 5 books. Then discussion posts due same week. The books are long and it was hard keeping up. Final essay is a 1500 word one about a theme that is present in 3 of the 4 assigned books (the 5th book is your choice and doesn't count for essay). Start early.
My grade was low on my own accord. I missed the submission for two assignments due to my full time job. I was expecting her to fail me but she didn't. She's a very kind professor and so long as you follow the syllabus her course is super easy. Read a few essays, write discussions weekly, and write a few essays. Provides easy resources for class.
Professor Eliopulos must be taken by anyone who really wants to know how to write properly. I took her ENG102 after taking 101 in the summer. She is helpful and constructive. She tells you exactly where you need improvement. She encourages you use Smarthinking. I would recommend taking her for both English Comp 101 & 102. She's great.
She's great. So long as you do the work(which isn't at all difficult), you're golden.
During English 101, we had to complete 6 essays. There was no mid-term or final, or even tests. Just a ton of papers. She is a tough grader: you need proper grammar, spelling, etc. She also wants a clear thesis. It was a pretty easy class. She does require the textbook, but the text is very easy to read, and definitely helps you with the essays.
Dr. Eliopulos is a very tough grader when it comes to Essay papers but you have to remember that the book you are studying from is one she has wrote herself. So she will know if you are just not giving your 100%. Took her in an 8 week class and wrote lots of papers and quizzes but I learned a lot more in that 8 weeks than I ever had in 2 years
Gives prompts mostly every class about topics on the readings you have to do and stuff going on around in the world. The elections were going on around while I was in the class, so we talked about politics, etc. Likes to talk about the news alot. There are 4 essays (all research based), 1 group presentation and one presentation by yourself.
Professor Eliopulos did a great job teaching. There are 4 papers you have to write. If you maintain perfect attendance she will remove your lowest graded paper. Don't procrastinate and you will do fine.
Prof. Eliopulos was a pretty tough grader on essays. She cares a lot about how well your essays are written and will leave a lot of feedback. She will make you work for the grade you want. Deadlines are easy to make, if you don't procrastinate.
BEST CLASS EVER. I'm bias because I passed and I am super excited but it was easy. I scored perfectly on all the reading assignments except one because I didn't even try on one part. The essay directions were clear, and I made very impressive grades on all four. I'm impressed with myself and the class since it was only a four week course.
She's old school, she's nice but jaded. I took AP English classes in hs, they challenged me how to be more proficient in English. Eliopulos teaches you by the book and to follow what *she* says which isn't wrong per se but limiting. I guess it is a 102 class so it's the basics only but I left wanting more. She *insists* on MLA, class isnt tough.
Eliopulos is a great professor. She is tough, but fair. She is a kind person. There are four essays in the course and prompts that need to be turned in with the essay's. Everything else that needs to be done is explained on the Syllabus/by the professor. One group presentation and a single presentation is also mandatory. Textbook is needed as well.
The online class is not very organized and is easy to get frustrated with. The teacher is also a tough grader and the assignments are annoying.
have to buy/ rent the textbook, only a few times had assigned readings. Small online quizzes from other online book. There are 6 essays due through out the semester. 1 is a group essay along with a presentation. 1 essay also requires a solo presentation. The other essays are pretty easy topics with same clear basic grading criteria. not stressful(:
Her lectures are extremely valuable. One star docked for lack of approachability and non-warm-and-fuzzy-ness, but if you approach anyway you'll realize she is insanely knowledgeable and does care about her students! Not recommended for new students who are easily intimidated, but recommended for those who don't mind and really want to learn.
I'll admit, I hate English, but this class is a nightmare. She picks textbooks that you have to buy from the author only. So, forget saving money with used books. It only goes over basic essay writing, nothing groundbreaking. The outline of the class is clunky at best. Go with a different teacher.
I really enjoyed one of the assigned books that Ms. E had for us, as well as the essay topics, so that made the class more enjoyable. She offered extra credit a few times throughout the semester. She was organized and paced the class well for an 8wk class, no complaints!
Be prepared to get a zero on assignments if she decides that she doesn't like your essay or answers to "quizzes". She is also one of those pretentious teachers that makes you buy her own book for the mandatory books. Zero lectures, all bookwork, find a better "teacher". You won't get anything out of this class.
She is an understanding professor. She gives about 10-15 extra credit. The assignments are reel grammar, discussion and 5 essays. She is a tough grader when it comes to essays, MLA especially. She graded discussion and reel grammar easily.
The tutors are very helpful and can help with essays only. You'll need a textbook for her class. MLA format only and her tutors are there to help for any problems or feedback. There are 5 essays, discussions, and quizzes. She is a nice at best but the tutors are there to help in any way.
A good amount of reading and she's a tough grader! I honestly did not enjoy this class.
I'm not going to lie, her class scared the heck out of me at first lol. For majority of the course, I was just overreacting. During the year, we have 5 quizzes out of a textbook, 7 reading and writing exercises, and 5 essays. She grades essays really fairly, I never got a grade lower than an A. Just don't procrastinate too much and you'll be fine.
Professor Eliopulos is communicates clearly and often. She is easily reachable if you need anything and incredibly patient. She gives lots of great feedback to help you grow as a writer and do better with each assignment.
You won't get anything out of this class that you couldn't get from any other teacher. I would advise picking someone better. Also, couldn't help, but notice that every time a poor review gets posted that a new amazing review magically pops up.
This professor is incredible. Her class was sometimes difficult but never unfair. She genuinely cares about her students' success as well as their personal wellbeing. She is a credit to her profession and a real gem.
I took her class back before the pandemic happened, I'd say she's alright. I like her, she's tough but she's caring. There's work to do but when the pandemic hit I think I missed a bunch of assignments but if I remember correctly she was very considerate and gave me a chance. I got out alive with in A- hehe.
Took her over a month to grade our papers, she's nice enough if you reach out to her but her feedback is oddly aggressive and personal. Its also sparse, which made class difficult as she's very picky and a hard grader. I'm a returning student and haven't taken English in ten years, this class is better suited for established students.
Ms. Eliopulos was truly one of the most down-to-earth, amazing teachers I've ever had! I would take this class a million times over. It is not homework-heavy, just make sure you do the reading and put in your best efforts. Consider yourself lucky if you get to take this class!
She likes to randomly give out homework as well as assigning 2 essays at once. Mandatory progress checks for your essays which are 25 points off if you miss the check in. I would not recommend her if you are taking 4 or more courses unless you can juggle 2 essays at a time as well as your other course's obligations.
I took an 8-week course with Ms.E. She had online meetings set up that were not mandatory but they were helpful. The class did have a good amount of essays but that was because it was an 8-week course and everything is condensed. Overall she is a great professor and her class was not hard at all. She gives good feedback and will help you improve.
If you're not good at writing in general, I wouldn't recommend this course. I got out with an A because of extra credit and got good scores on all my assignments but most of my classmates were struggling. I felt rewarded that I got a good grade in the end. If you have an okay sense of grammar and English, you'll get out with an A- or B+
I had Ms. Eliopulos during an 8-week online course. Her grading criteria were clear and I believed she graded the essays fairly. The course consisted of 4 essays that aren't too difficult. Overall a great professor and replies to emails quickly.
There are four essays and weekly discussion posts along with occasional in class assignments. This class can be work heavy at times but you will do fine if you keep up with the assignments and plan time for essays. Professor Eliopulos can be a picky grader but she wants her students to succeed and is always willing to help. Great class overall
Professor Eliopulos is a very knowledgeable teacher, she is firm with her criteria but fair. MLA9 is strictly adhered to so learn it and you'll succeed. There are weekly responses based on assigned reading and grammar quizzes as well but they aren't hard to do if you read the assigned material. The essays you write aren't difficult to do either.
honestly the most dreadful english class ive taken. reading discussions are easy but the essays are dreadful . she never fully gives ANYONE an A , trust me i have only gotten Cs for all my essays. she doesn't really explain what you did wrong in the essay. 70$ textbook isn't worth it, hated my experience with her. simple criteria, terrible grading.
I took the 8-week course. This professor is wonderful. She accepted me late into the semester and was very helpful in outlining exactly what was expected. Strict on due dates. Somewhat strict grader, but manageable if you stick to instructions. 1 discussion post per week and 3 essays throughout the semester. Work requires effort but is manageable.
The difficulty level of her class isn't particularly high, but her grading approach for essays is confusing. She deducts points seemingly without clear reasons, and her explanations often lack coherence. I wouldn't recommend taking Tina's English class if you're looking for a straightforward experience. Overall worst professor I've ever had!
On the first day of class, reading the syllabus and the FIRST WEEK of assignments was like reading the dictionary. Her directions are very unclear and wordy making it difficult to understand exactly what is expected. Do not take her 8 week course unless you have 4+ hours a day to work on her assignments.
The course was easy to follow. The professor is an amazing grader if you want the honest truth about your work.
I'm in her 8 week course and writing is pretty easy for me, but whenever I reach out for help or have questions she just tells me to watch a video or go read the syllabus and doesn't help. She grades extremely hard and doesn't give a clear explanation to why she grades the way she did. She'll just say go watch the video. Just actually teach me!
Tina is NOT a tough grader, but just downright awful and rude. Instead of assisting politely she just critiques the work terribly with a judgmental tone. I do not recommend this professor at all! Please be weary of who you choose, and do run into this awful professor! Good luck.
This Professor is extremely rude, every time I reach out for help, she only answers with, "Have you read the instructions?" Which is NOT helpful because the instructions are not clear. When she does answer your questions, they sound condescending and rude. It is hard for me to reach out, but she makes it harder by answering rudely and belittlingly.
Online class wasn't too intense. There was 1 quiz, 2 essays, and 5 DQs. No lectures are provided so you're on your own figuring a few things out. She is very picky about MLA 9 and provides little guidance except to look it up on your own. Prof is a very slow and tough grader. Seems impossible to get an A. Average class score on essays was < 60%.
Prof. E. is a tough but fair teacher. MLA9 is a must-learn. Weekly readings and essays aren't easy, but doable with effort. Used unstuck ai and ChatGPT to help with study prep and writing - saved me time.
This class was not difficult. Just do your best and you'll be fine. she replies quickly, Just be polite. The workload is average. The quizzes were not enjoyable, but they're not timed and correspond to the grammar book, so take your time. Use your time wisely and be original. There are extra credit opportunities all the time. Good luck
Tina is not only a harsh grader but doesn't give any advice on how to help you succeed. She gives very rude feedback and the most she can tell you is to read the instructions. If you have to take this course I suggest you do everything to stay away from her.
Professor Eliopulos could definitely be a bit nicer. I never got any actual useful feedback on my assignments, just her rewriting the prompt. The conferences with her in it felt so terrible because she talked in such a condescending way. Yes, even the 1 on 1 conference. Genuinely, please do NOT take her class.
One essay every 2 weeks which aren't extremely hard, but she is very strict on MLA9 style, so always proofread your essays. The grammar quizzes aren't that bad, but there isn't much material for each. The required textbook only offers guidance on writing essays. Decent class but it could maybe use a little more teaching time.
Professor Eliopolous was one of my favorites at CSN. She puts an immense amount of time and effort into the assignments for this course. She is commutative with each student and takes the time to get to know your writing in an individual level. I truly appreciate her level of attention in an online course.
She is very condescending and rude when giving feedback on your essays and just answering questions in general. Her class definitely wasn't hard if you follow the instructions but she's really nit picky especially about MLA format, however when I asked her for help on that she refused, luckily there are other resources for that area
