Ms. Pena is wonderful. I would take her again if I could.
Very nice person not to mention sexy. Very reasonalbe and nice teacher. excelnt
You'll have to earn your grade but she's an excellent teacher.
She's a teacjer who ought to be paid more because she is so good.
Great teacher, a lot of fun. You do have a lot of busy work in a foreign language.

okay...but too much homework
Would have given her a higher Clarity rating if not for the fact that most of the time she was speaking Spanish, so I had no idea what she was saying.
I called her CALIENTE! She calls me "malito" but what a great friend, teacher, monitor. She keeps me going, keep up te good work, Miss Tulipan.
I love her. She is very warm to all her student. I enrolled in Spa 3 because she encouraged me too.
Very unflexible, considering a telecourse. Speaks in only spanish, so I hope you're fluent
Tough, tough, tough, but do all your work, study, and come to class everyday, you will be guareented a B+!!!!!
She's a great teacher. She makes learning fun by making up games. If you don't know what she's talking about, she'll hear you over all the other students who talk at the same time and give you a hint. She works with you if you don't turn in your work on time. Participate in class and help the other students and you might get nominated for an award!
Wonderful teacher! Ella es excellente! Expects you to study and do alot of community service involving the spanish language. She is heavily involved in the Latin community & willing to help in any way, even after the class is completed. I really enjoyed her classes and had fun with the other students. She even offered study sessions before finals!
¡Buenisima profesora! Y una buena amiga tambien.
Excellent teacher: enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable about Spanish! Highly recommended!!
Very sweet and willing to help, but this is a difficult class if you've never taken Spanish before. Sometimes she is very difficult to understand. (Assuming that you do not speak Spanish.)
Horrible as a telecourse. Never answered emails, posted grades, or updated anything. Do not take her as a telecourse
OK! I did not like her before bc I have a friend who teaches here who does not like her as a boss, but now I see why...she is very demanding because she knows that it is the only way you can do your job as a student or as teacher. People used to tell me that she likes notoriety, but I know that she is visible bc of what she does....I apologized to

Took intersession... got an A... easy for me but I took spanish from sixth grade til I graduated
My friends told me not to take her courses (one of them is a current TCC Spanish instructor), but I took her telecourse because I wanted to save time. Don't take her telecourse. You learn nothing (I received A and did nothing). You can hire a decent tutor for the same amount of $$$. Don't waste your time and money all together.
A week prior to the class, she is calling or emailing you. She wants to IM you in Spanish. Man! too much work. I like her accent, but don't mess with her. She is a fire ball. However, she wants you to learn, learn and learn..
i took the 8 week online class, we had to do myspanishlab, that is the stupidest lab thing ever, it was always messing up and we received A's for everything bc of malfunctions. I did not learn any spanish!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took the Spanish Service Learning class with Tina. Recomiendo que todos tomen esta clase!! I am I native English speaker and this class helped me improve my Spanish so much. If you really want to learn Spanish, don't hesitate to enroll in this class.
She is a nice lady and will do everything she can to get you a good grade.
I have only seen her a few times, but the times I have seen her, she has gone out of the way to answer questions and help you. She is funny.
Out of the way to helpme, generous, funny and made me practice my skills that I didnot know I had. Not shy at all. Luv her.
She is great. thats all there is to say. you will learn alot. and she cares of you learn or not.
OK...this is an online class. She wants to talk to you via Skype. She is a beautiful person. Love her accent and her views on politics. She loves to teach and make sure you that you understand hard chapters. Try to look her up during her E-Hours on skype and ask her anything.
Hardest class if you wait till the last minute. She is accessible, always, via FB, Skype or email. She really wants you to learn. Love her.
Great. She will answer emails even Sunday. Don't be disrespectful by addressesing to her as "hey"....she was ballistic about our culture of disrespect. She Is very Nice and caring.
Lovely. The only thing is that she expects everyone to turn in assignments on time because she will not give you another chance. She says that resetting her i l r n is not allowed. But, she always responds your emails, skype, texts, etc. Be well mannered or she will take it wrong. She teaches you the right way of addressing people you dont know.
What can I say? If you respect yourself, you study hard. If you respect her, don't call her or write to her starting your emails as: "hey". Old school even though she may forty something. Anyway, you learn in that class, she responds right away. I have taken online courses at TCC before and no one has been as communicative as Tina Pena
I love her. I hope she doesn't go anywhere else, she is amazing and alows you to express yourself. She can be strict at times, but at the end of the day it is for us to learn. Online is difficult especially when professors don't return your calls or emails, she does. Speak at least one word in Spanish to her, she will like that.
I just took a Medical Interpreting course with her. She is very nice, professional and very strict. I like her guests too. There are several of us taking the national board exam because of her. She will help you if you let her help you. Demanding, but you will understand why. She is flexible, but don't be disrespectful.
Man, she is a very helpful prof. I have never had anyone respond from her cell, from skype, emails, etc. Even Sundays. Thanks Miss Tina Pena
I was ambivalent in the beginning, but she has proven to be an awesome lady. She responds to her emails in a timely fashion and is fair. I had her for two semesters, I am glad I took her. The cultural activities are awesome too.
I am now on an onsite Spanish 2 and I am glad I had her for Spanish 1. She took her time to email me and let me know that I needed to unlearn a couple of grammar points. She will respond all her emails.
My class had a last minute instructor change. While I was nervous at first, I have to say I was very lucky to have Instructor Pena instead. She was always available when you needed her and she always messaged me back in a timely fashion whether it be an email or on Facebook. She is always willing to help and wants her students to succeed.
Whew! I just finished the class. Don't take a fast track, it is hard. She will FB you everyday and email you everyday. Tests are hard if yo don't study. The only good thing is that Miss Pena was available at all times. Tests are returned within 24 hours, she makes sure you know that she will grade them and turn them into us in24 hours. Loved it
This woman is what the term Teacher really means, thank God for people like her.
Thanks Tina Pena. I was scared of taking an online class and you made it easier.
Interpreting in class was a piece of cake. She and Ceasar are very helpful. She intimidated me at furst, but she is awesome!
She is the only only teacher who has ever responded to my emails. She ahs E-office hours on skpe, if yo do your homework on time, you will do well. She wants to help you even via FB set for us students only. Great, you learn, but got to do it.
OK. Yes, she returns exams graded within 24 hours like she says. She will save all your emails and show them to you..for example, I enrolled late, my best friend died and I thought she would be more understanding. she sent me copies of my emails and said: You started on the wrong foot, do you still want to continue in this class? Just work hard.
I don't know, but this class has been very difficult because there was a lot of work. She said she would not water down her classes, but I still learned a lot. She returns work right away, but if you ask a question that you should have red on the syllabus, she does get mad. Overall, GREAT.
Overall, I can honestly say, I've never been more appalled at a professor's behavior. I have an A & work hard. She's passionate, yes. But I (& many others) find it hard to get clear answers to important, valid questions. I'm polite, patient, & respectful & am met with rude remarks & impatience when uncalled for. She seems unnecessarily defensive.
If you have questions that are explained on the syllabus, she is going to refer you to the syllabus. She will meet with you over skype or FB. If you don't do the work, it is hard to get caught up. She is nicer in person.
Not bad!
I gave all my best, I think I emailed her more than anyone in the class, everyday 2 or emails a day. Patient, firm. If you don't know your syllabus, she will ask you to read them. Lots of work, but you learn. Skype and FB everyday. I recommend her.
The class was fine, especially if you want to learn Spanish. However, the teacher made it very difficult. Questions were not directly answered and often not responded to at all. I would never recommend this professor.
Good class. She responds quickly and skypes or FB a lot. Patient with those who don't read her instructions. Loved it.
Good class. Just read the syllabus before asking questions. She is patient and she will respond right away. Well, maybe the next day. Her Help sessions are helpful. She is better in person than on email. Have FB so you can see her postings all day.
I was scared because they said she was intimidating. Not! Just read your syllabus and don't be late, other than that, she will respond her FB page, skype and email She grades the same day or the next, but don't miss the deadline. Just do your work and she will be nice. She is better in person than on email.
Right now in her class. A lot of work, but she sends FB messages everyday. I hope to pass this course.
Just do your homework and study, she is nice and loves when you turn in assignments ahead of time. She uses FB for this class, Skype and helps....but, read your syllabus before asking her questions. I loved her Lab live sessions. Don't be afraid of her. She returns graded stuff right away.
OK! If you are taking her online, don't procrastinate because she will NOT accept late work. However, she will consider you if you go to her help classes and if you ask questions about Spanish and not about the technology. She is better in person, I learned a lot, just do your work and you will see she will love you. 24 hrs turn around for tests.
Helpful, but you need to read the syllabus first. If they are on the syllabus, she will refer you back to it. Good Facebook interaction, Skype and email. She is a lot better in person because she spends time with you. Well, anyone is better in person, online is not that friendly.
So far she has graded in less than 24 hours, but we will see. Good class and fast responses to my emails. Spanish is not easy, the class is a fast track and you just have to turn in your stuff on time.
Very good class, just read the syllabus before asking any questions. I love her fast responses and the on site sessions. Don't call her "HEY" because she does not like it. Maybe a little old school, but muy helpful. I made a B because I messed up on the final due date, otherwise, it would be have been perfect! Adios
Great and glad she responds right away. I heard she had a FB for online classes, but we did not have it. Just read the syllabus, if you ask a question that is on the syllabus, she may not like it. She will refer you back to it. But, other than glad she was my teacher. She gave me two attempts on my test.
Good fast track and lots of interactions with her by FB and email. Read your syllabus before asking questions. Nice teacher. Thanks
She will be upset if you do not finish all your homework. Although, she will write to you on FB reminding you about the due date, if you don't finish all your homework, she gets upset. She puts little messages or hints on FB and wants you to like her status to see if you are reading her messages. Anyway, she cares.
Great so far. Not finished yet, but does respond quickly on FB.
The best class even though online is not ideal for Spanish 2. Need to do your assignments, be respectful, don't call her "hey" FB usage, great. Exams graded fast READ YOUR SYLLABUS before asking something it is already in the syllabus. Love her attitude and glad I took it.
She responds right away. Read your syllabus before asking questions. FB for the class. Just turn in everything on time. I loved her class.
Instructor didn't reply to my email. Instructor said in syllabus that all grades were taken from tests. By tests she meant all homework and tests. This is the only class I have ever failed at college and her poor description of the class has led to this current grade that I have. She never once told me my grade was failing.
She will write to you if you don't do your assignments. If you don't answer she will let you know at the end. FB and Skype, grades fast and you know where you stand. She will refer you back to the syllabus.Other than that, good.
Loved her. Just do your work, read your syllabus, Facebook and Skype. Loved her.
I like her FaceBook and uses Skype for office hours and answers right away. Spanish 2 is hard and sometimes it is all in Spanish. Do your cultural event, it is 100 points.
If it had been for her I would not have had a job as an interpreter. Fridays and Saturdays go fast, she is there for you along with Cesar. (3) weekends and practice outside of the class. I have enrolled in her next one now.
Tina Pena is a great Teacher ; however, you will work Hard!! I was able to make an 'A' ; however, I worked extremely hard taking this 8 week course to complete the 48-60 homework assignments that were giving with each chapter , one small paper, 4 chapter tests and a final that was inclusive of the entire book chapters P-7.
Great teacher and caring. Read the syllabus and do your work on time. Good turn around time assignments, exams and emails. I wish I had more time for Spanish, I loved her class.
I love her.
Read your syllabus or she will send you back to read it again. Answers right away, exams and homework commented right away. Skype and FB her. Hard class if you don't have time to do the exercises.
Took the 8 week on line course do to being a full time working adult with a family. Pena is a great professor but she really piles on the work. get ready for a 2 plus hour commitment every day for homework. I can; however, say she is very fair if you have an issue of any kind she will work with you. I do recommend her but get ready to work hard.
Fairly easy class. She doesn't give you extra credit, but if you do the work she loves you. Will reply asap on FRIDAY or email.
She will know if you are lying and 141she knows how long you stayed on a specific exercise. She will check on you and tell you that you did not submit something and a 0 will be posted. So, you know where you stand. I would take her again, but got to stay with the assignments. She will answer right away, unlike other teachers. I liked her.
Just do your work, you will fine. She will write to you if you don't turn in assignments on time. Nice teacher.
Good teacher, patient, but turn assignments on time.
Fastest grader ever. Skype and FB. Would take again.
Thank you, Mrs. Pena. I was able to take a phone number in Spanish the other day and I thought of you. Eternally grateful.
Awesome use of technology.
Quick response, Facebook and would take her again. Feliz Navidad.
Glad I took her.
Great professor. She is very patient and goes over and beyond to help her students. She is very specific on her syllabus and assignments. I would take her again if given the chance.
She is on TV and on the radio. I love her accent. hmm! I just think she is so smart, but too shy.
Good professor.
FB a lot, will email you back, but read the syllabus first. Nice in person, but short emails. She will write to you in Spanish sometimes.
No extra credit, but I would take her again. She responds right away.
Fast trak is hard if you don't do your work. But, she opened our class weeks before it started. It helped. She answers emails.
Good cultural activity and great FB messages. I almost dropped, but she encouraged me to continue and got a B.
Read your syllabus before asking her questions. Other than that, she gives you good feedback.
Expensive book. Good Facebook and read your syllabus before asking a question. I wanted Spanish 3 with her, but she doesn't do Spanish 3. Too much homework.
She will send you to the syllabus if you ask her a question. Lots of FB, good feedback, caring. Would taker her again.
I loved her onsite help, I wish I had taken her in person. Very personable even though she scares you to death on emails. I learned a lot when I took her up.
Very nice lady and extremely helpful. Will go the extra mile for her students. Took Spanish I and it was A LOT of busy work and that was for the 8- week class. Tons of assignments due every two weeks in between 75-95 assignments each lesson. Pretty easy tests. Great instructor overall!
Immediate feedback on FB or email. Read your syllabus before asking a question that is covered on her syllabus. Just do your work and ask questions. Group work not good because I can't find other classmates on line.
Didn't like her in the beginning because she was condescending when we arrived late, but she grew on me. Knowledgeable, read your syllabus and if you miss get ready to put extra hours in a clinic or community translation.
Professor Pena isn't great. It is hard to get in touch with her and when you do, it takes DAYS for her to contact you. The entire class was done via language lab online. Communication is poor and if you don't have discipline to do the homework, you won't pass. Lots of lessons so be prepared for homework daily. One test every week & grading unclear.
The best. Gracias, Señora Peña.
Glad I took her for both semesters. FB and Skype.
Her live sessions helped a lot. Quick FB and Skype response. Read your syllabus or she will be upset. Don't call her hey.
Easy teacher to talk to. She was concerned about me when I couldn't buy the book. She is very patient and love her FB posts.
Busy class and job opportunities interpreting. Class went fast.
I enjoyed your help sections. Thank you, Ms. Pena.
Scary in the beginning, but I am glad I was able to get her respect. Good help sessions.
Loved Ms. Tina.
Tina Peña is an amazing teacher. She lives what she does and is very dedicated. It's a foreign language so obviously you have to work hard. But tina will go out of her way to help you succeed. She is very inspiring because she does so much to promote culture and help others. Take her for Spanish.
Since it is a fast track and intensive workshop, you must be there. Love her guests.
Just dont ask her anything before reading fer syllbus and emials she sends you. But, they all go to the schools email. Other than that, she is cool. Help classes in person, FB and Skype are helpful.
Hey! She will thank you for reading your syllabus. Approachable, Facebook and Skype is good. No extra credit, but she gave me a couple of points for attending her live session.
Answers right away. Just do your stuff, email and engage in conversation with her, she will be considerate.
Funny, helpful, but you must read your syllabus before asking. Other than that, I love knowing she will respond. She had skype sections.
Awesome, accessible and lab sessions if you need.
Thank you for putting up with me. Very helpful.
OK till I got pneumonia. Had to ask "Did you get it?" after each email. Seemed uncaring/unwilling to help. Sent in grade concern, then she was more helpful. Emailed my MP3 final Thursday. She said "I'll grade Tuesday." Asked her the next Thursday if she graded. She said "Can't open, can u send a link?" She waited for me to ask. TERRIBLE experience.
I enjoyed the class. Thank you for being there for me.
Ms. Pena is patient and works with you outside of class.
She is ready to help, her video avatars are hilarious and she helps you. But, you have tomread her syllabus before asking her any questions.
If you don't respond to her emails, she will remind you and not forgive you. Other than that, I like her videos and FB and sections in the lab for personal help.
Excuse me, but, an online teacher like her? I love her. Thanks for meeting with me and helping me out.
I would not have passed if she had not been pushing me to practice with her on skype or her help sections. She is very approachable even though she does not look like she would. Responds to her emails right away. Gracias.
OK. I can finally graduate. Language was the last class I had to take and she made it easy for me. I liked her Skype, FB and avatars. I am not sure if I will ever use it, but I am glad she was in my life for 8 weeks.
Even though I took the online course, Ms. Pena consistently made herself available at the Metro campus to answer questions or study with. Her course is very easy to get through, if you're serious about learning Spanish I would recommend taking a physical class.
I finally got my grade from TCC. She is caring and wants you to learn. Nice lady! Cultural things and Skype.
I was in her online 4 week class. She was very eager to help me and opened up the class for me early to start completing homework. She worked with other Spanish professors to get me in Spanish 2 while doing Spanish 1. Super nice but not easy to get ahold of. Overall a great professor.
DON'T DO IT!! Worst professor I've had yet. The website she uses for the online class is very confusing. TCC does not support this website so there's no calling up anyone to help you. She was unclear on direction and wouldn't tell me how to even find my assignments. I bought the online book and had no access to it because of the website.
Good communication and glad for the outside virtual tutor help. She will ask you to read your syllabus if you ask a question that is on the syllabus. Other than that, she is great.
Super easy A! She does have a lot of assignments but as long as you do them and stay caught up, it's not bad at all. There is a final which is oral, but she has a study guide for the exact questions on the exam. You are allowed multiple attempts on most of the assignments. Totally recommend Professor Tina!
Professor Pena was an amazing professor. I took her Spanish 1 class for four weeks this summer and I loved it. The work wasn't too much and it's self-paced with deadlines. You're welcome to work ahead and there are clear deadlines. I would highly recommend her!
Prof. Pena has wonderful communication skills, and is super sweet. The class is pretty easy, I took the 8wk class and love it. You can work ahead which makes it even better. There is quite of bit of homework, but it's not too bad. The final exam you will have a 25 question test, where you will read & answer the questions in Spanish.
I loved her quick responses. I have taken other languages and they don't respond like she does. Read your syllabus before asking her anything that we should have read. Great person.
Mrs. Pena is a tough lady, she has many people she works with in the class. I like that she introduced us to many things, organizations in the community that otherwise I would not have done. Hardworking and expects the same, punctual and expects the same. Her co-professors are like her. Thank you.
I ended up with a B. She will not like if you ask her questions that are on the syllabus. Most of them are. hehe! I enjoyed her Zoom sessions and Karen's Zoom sessions. Thank you. Lots of work, but you have lots of attempts on the assignments. I just got behind, but I am taking her again in the summer I hope.
Mrs. Pena is awful. She is terribly unorganized, and never makes clear what she wants from her students. She grades assignments incredibly unfairly. She will change due dates on assignments after you have turned them in to affect your grade negatively. She doesn't respond in a timely manner, and is a terrible communicator.
I enjoyed her class and her humor. She will email you right away. You can submit your stuff late with a penalty, but you can since her classes are fast track. Other than that, all good.
Good communication in less than 24 hours. Zoom and emails. Read your syllabus if you are gonna ask her a question that is on the syllabus. Other than that, she is cool.
She is great and will meet you if you need her. Just do your assignments and she will even let you finish early.
No kidding, I hated Spanish, she helped me. But, read your syllabus before asking her questions. She will send you emails and keeps you up-to-date with what needs to be done.
It is Sunday and she just emailed me to tell me that my recording did not go through. I just called her on her google phone and she gave me the final only because she knows I have attended all her classes and tutoring labs. gracias.
Overall great professor just prepare to do a lot of homework. I took a fast track Spanish 1 it was not difficult just A LOT of homework. Just read and watch the videos given all the answers are there if you pay attention. Take this professor you will not regret it. Do your work and participate and you get the grade you deserve.
The entire course is an online textbook that I really didn't like. It was not engaging, I felt like I would have learned more if they just used duolingo or rosetta stone. Not the professor's fault, just the textbook.
Great professor! She genuinely cares for her students and their success in learning a new language. Stay on track and it is an easy A.
Dear all: She scared me in the beginning. But, later I realized she wanted you to read the syllabus before asking questions that were written on it. I liked her weekly class.
Learning with her is a blast; she has a touch of humor that keeps things light. However, when she shares her language-learning journey, it really gets me thinking. It seems she's proficient in French too. She's available for questions, but it's a good idea to give her syllabus a read first, as she'll likely direct you there
She's excellent, but be ready to work & be respectful when you write to her. In my experience with a fast-track Spanish the amount of homework was substantial, but better than other professors. if you diligently read and watch the provided materials, you'll find all the answers you need. She answers and will call you out if you call her "HEY" Lol!
For my final, she met me at TCC on a Saturday morning at TCC and even brought me coffee. I was nervous, but seeing her as a human being really helped. She wants to make sure that no one else has done the homework. She responds right away. The best thing is to do it in person, but I work two jobs.
I took SPA1103 (online) in2024 with Profesora Pena who has 33 years of history at TCC. I appreciated that she oopened the course early (especially because it was an 8week course). She seemed animatied and muy simpatico!
Professor Pena is helpful and engaging. The class has a good mix of online work and clear deadlines. I found unstuck ai helpful for preparing on the go. Overall, a solid Spanish learning experience.
She meets with students and her Monday classes are very helpful. She will ask you to read the syllabus if you ask a question that's in it. She is nice and well known.
Easy. She's always available. Make sure you read the syllabus.
She is good, She didn't like when I asked when is the next chapter due. She was a little harsh when she responded that email. But, in person she is funny and loved her lectures.
8wk. 74+ assignments due/weekly. Never responded to emails. Very unclear expectations, uses AI generated videos for instruction with no captions. Had no idea what my grade was until the last day of the semester, gradebook was unsynced. The textbook (VHL) is awful and costs ~$100 for only 8 week access. Would not recommend, take an in-person class.
I really liked the one walk and talk she did at the Gathering Place, it was great and she's super easy to talk to. I was kinda scared of her, but she's actually really funny! I loved how she always responded right away. I have a Spanish last name but I don't speak Spanish, and she still made herself really available. I'd totally take her again.
4-week Spanish was the most overwhelming class I've taken. The material isn't hard if you stay engaged, but it's fully online through a minimum $168 required textbook/course access code. Expect 140+ assignments weekly, no exaggeration. Do *not* take this with other fast-track courses unless you want to become mentally ill.
She was always available no matter the day or even when she was on vacation. A lot of homework but it was a 4 week fast track class but she did open the class early so you could get ahead.
