Really excellent she really cares about the students. She takes the time to help us one on one. I definitely recommnend her. She is great.
She was awesome and helpfull.

Very caring and patient. One of the best math teachers I've ever had.
i was online... otherwise I think I would have gotten it.
Ms. Hansen was my substitute teacher. She is awesome. Intelligent, caring, dedicated and really is a great teacher. She communicates in a way that is easy to understand the subject matter.
I really enjoyed her teaching style. After coming from a horrible math prof she was a breath of fresh air. Very helpful and runs her class way chill
Tinia is an excellent teacher. She shows a genuine interest in her students' success. She has quite a few kids of her own and her nurturing nature comes out in class.
I could never understand her because of her accent! Teacher was very obnoxious
I had her class online. She was very helpful, clear, and reasonable. Besides the textbook, she also has slides which are very helpful.
Sick accent. Don't know where it's from yet. Sounds almost Australian? Anyways, decent teacher. A few take home tests were given which made the class easier. A lot of group work so if you make friends with the people you sit with you can get lost or figure it out together.
Very helpful teacher. She will always take time to answer questions and make sure everyone understands the concepts. She emails helpful powerpoints and videos. She will always be willing to help you and is very nice, also let us do the tests as a group and no final which made the course much easier. Take math from her if u have a hard time with it
She is nice and a good teacher. She provided helpful practice tests and always went over the homework with us. I suck at math and managed a 3.5 and am taking her for pre-calc.
Tinia is from New Zealand and has a mild accent that is not distracting. Does not use WAMAP. I always thought she was trying to trick us on tests. She expects homework to be turned in but you get good points that dilute poor test scores. You cover several components of Calculus so pay attention closely and dont just breeze. Strive for an A+.
She is part time and not helpful at all.
I took the class online. She was not helpful at all with my questions. I asked her about problems with a homework assignment, and she didn't get back to me when she said she would. I had to eamail her, and her reason for not getting back to me was because of her other teaching job! Poor !!!!
While very nice, she's too easy going. Not realistic for future college courses. Purposely avoids word/real life problems. People were struggling so she changed our exam to a group exam. That isn't an assessment. People come in late and she still lets them take quizzes even if we've finished. Too much side talk. I took time to study on the side.
Tina is a great teacher! She does not use WAMAP too! She was very helpful and committed to student success!
Tinia is an amazing prof, seriously. Her acccent keeps things interesting and she's always willing to help. I also had her for prefall coll101. Sh always gets back to me within a day or two, if not right away. She's also one of the few teachers that keeps up her office hours! over all a wonderful person and favorite math teacher Ever.
I would definitely recommend Tinia if you are planning on taking MATH095 online. She grades fair, the course is well paced, and she responds to questions quickly.
Hansen was a great teacher! I had her online for math 95 and the course was broken down great. She was great with responding back right away. I am not the best in math but i managed to get a good grade in her class. Great powerpoints and lessons. only 2 tests, midterm and final that were not hard. I recommend her
Do not take this teacher as an online course unless you are already really good at math. Each week all she does is post a power point and a problem set or two. These have poor explanations of the math formulas, and then problems that are more complex than what she explained. Even my friend getting a math degree was baffled by some of what she did.
I have had her online for two classes, Math 107 and Math 95. She does not use WAMAP, which in my eyes, is the most helpful thing in the world not to do! WAMAP always got me in my past math classes. Hansen is very nice & always communicating through email. One assignment a week, very easy stuff. Highly recommend this professor.
She is patient and has a very friendly way of teaching. Easily connects with students and explains everything perfectly! She has taught me the basics of math I forgot since I was last in high school. Take her class!!! I like her new zealand accent too!
Professor Hansen went out of her way to answer all of my questions. She contacted me when there was a problem with a test and let me make corrections to some of the formats.
Although she is very nice and willing to help. The tests that she gives are way harder then what she teacher in class and its 60% of your grade so if you don't pass tests, you don't pass the class. Not as easy as the people on here said she is. If math is not your friend it will be pretty difficult for you and teacher gives hard questions on tests.
I took an online class with Tinia. Maybe she is a better teacher in person, but with online, I had a tough time. When grading assignments, she would say vague things like "not up to standard" instead of suggesting to you how to improve. She would take a long time to email you back, and always seemed to have an "attitude" tone in her emails.
I decided to rate Tinia because I thought she had been possibly unfailry rated in the past. I would recommend her for math 075, clearly I needed to help and she was there 100%. Thanks.
Tinia is amazing! Genuinely wants to help you succeed! She has a knack for taking complicated math concepts and breaking them down into something simpler so you can understand without loosing anything important. She was always willing to give me extra help when I needed it.
Tinia really takes the time to make sure you understand the concepts. The tests are a big portion of the final grade, beware. I usually have a hard time grasping math, however, she makes it easy to understand. I have taken 2 of her classes (math 75 & 85) and now taking her math 95 in Spring! I'd take her all the way through Calc if I could.
Hansen made really good notes in class and then would post them up online! I took her summer class and when I had to be gone for the tail end and wouldn't be able to take the final, she let me take it early! Thanks to that, I passed this class!
Prof. Hansen was a good teacher overall. However, she could be unclear about her grading criteria. Most of the time she told students if they need to show the process used to arrive at answers. She did accidentally include the answer key on a test and lowered the grade of anyone who not show work.
1st class taken with her, so far so good. She can be a little scattered, but I feel that might be because she hasn't taught this level of math in a awhile.
A wonderful teacher. Let's fact it math sucks for everybody, but this teacher recognizes the students that work hard and encourages them and motivates them to give it everything they've got. As someone who has always struggled with math, she was the perfect teacher for me.
She was an amazing teacher! Very VERY helpful and she responds to questions that you send to her via WAMAP and email within the hour (the only exception would be if she was teaching a class). She put notes online helped me out a lot! Amazing teacher with a great personality. I wish she taught more math classes because I would sign up for her class.
Easy class, Tinia was very helpful. It was an online class so there isn't much to say.
Tinia is an excellent teacher. She will work with you to help you because she cares about your success. I would take her for every class from here on out if I could. I highly recommend her.
Great lady! She's always willing to help her students and walk them through the class work. I hope to take more math course from her.
I took the summer class which meant a very condensed schedule and every day introduced new concepts, we still had a lab day where she encouraged students to come in and work on the homework so that when we had questions she could help. Very caring and supportive professor. Definitely recommend
Best math teacher I ever had, and I truly feared math. She tends to help people who help themselves, so show up to class, do your homework (every assignment!) and work well with others and you will do fine!
Her lecture was really clear and organized. She would scan all her note and post them on WAMAP after class which is extremely helpful especially for those students who don't like to take note like me. She is very nice and willing to help. Definitely recommend this class.
Pros: Assignments aren't too hard. Quizzes aren't bad either. General work load is average. Applicable to daily life. Cons: Critical Grader - despite receiving tutoring. Lazy - gives horrible directions and doesn't proof read her own stuff. Terrible at communicating and gives little to no feedback. When asked for feedback she was rude.
Her online class was put together very well and expectations, deadlines, and curriculum was very clear. I was horrified of math, especially online math, but it was a lot easier than I expected. She is very understanding of technology problems and was very kind and quickly replied whenever I emailed her.
I was hesitant to take math online but Tinia was awesome! She gave PP's and YouTube videos to learn the lessons because there wasn't a textbook though she could be a bit vague when answering questions or would just give you hints to help you figure it out. Also if the instructions weren't very clear, she'd still give points if your math was right.
I'm usually good at Math but I had to drop this class to avoid ruining my GPA. Tinia is a tough grader, doesn't give very good feedback, and the online setting is not for her. When I would do the math right she would mark me down for not showing one step or misunderstanding the (poorly written) instructions slightly. She's also very unprofessional.
she is the best math teacher ever. so laid back and nice and she lets us go early every time. she doesn't care about attendance. not too much homework. 4 tests and a final. an easy class!!
I would definitely recommend Tinia as a math professor. She is very laid-back and willing to answer questions if you are confused by a concept. The final exam was online and open for a week, which gave me plenty of time to feel confident about my answers and check notes if I needed to.
So easy, just turn in your work
This is the first professor I've ever had that doesn't even have the decency to let her students know about when they have an assignment due.
Loved Tinia. She's direct, doesn't put up with lame excuses. Just do the homework (which is just WAMAP, not hard) and you'll be fine. I had her summer, do not recommend summer. It is so crammed. However, I pulled through and I suck at math. I thought she was hilarious. She's kind and understanding, willing to help at any moment during class.
Professor Hanson was very caring and helpful when it came to not understanding things, or problems with the homework/quizzes on WAMAP. She is funny and wants to help you do well. I am usually pretty bad at math but she was able to help me understand how to do the work.
Ms. Hansen was an amazing teacher! Having her for Calc 1 was super helpful and I learned a lot! Of course, there was a lot of homework, but it was almost always helpful. Her explanations in class were very helpful so please ask questions if you have any! Also, there is group work. I found this annoying at first, but found it helpful in the long run
I had a really difficult time in this class in the past but she breaks it down to a speed that even I am comfortable with. Highly recommend.
I took this class in person for a reason and when we were out of class for two weeks due to snow she expected us to teach ourselves the material and take an exam the day we got back without any kind of review. The class average was below 50% and she blamed the students. Overall good prof but due to her ignorance I need to take the class over again.
We missed two weeks of class due to snow, were expected to teach ourselves the material to do the exam the day we got back. And the days that there was class wasn't much better. She rarely went deeper than just giving us an equation and where things would go. And even though I was there every day, I often had to teach myself the material online.
I wish I could say that I liked Professor Hansen as a teacher, because she's very nice, but she hardly covers any material in class. A typical class involves her going over a few example problems, giving out group work, and then ending class an hour early. Then the HW and exams have WAY more complicated questions, things that she NEVER explained!!
Calc 1 is so hard and I could not grasp the concept of it whatsoever. You note-take all her lectures but dont get the time to understand the concepts. Tinia went over easier problems in class, but then the homework on wamap or on the worksheets was incredibly difficult. No study guides except for one derivative test. Four tests, one dropped.
Below I put grade received as a D- but it was a C. One or two percent above passing. Also, one worksheet used as extra credit.
Great professor and went through every aspect of the lesson to make sure no one was left behind. Responds to emails crazy fast and is always giving resources for extra help. Not that much homework at all and exams were very straight forward. She is very nice and really wants her students to succeed. Great professor!
I really enjoyed this class. The professor gets straight to the point and most of the class is spent doing problems as a class and a worksheet in a group. She responds quickly to emails and is always up to answer a question in class. Tests were clear and the homework is a few WAMAP questions a week. Great class.
i have nothing bad to say about Tinia Hansen. it was originally an in-class course but COVID-19 hit and it moved online. she took it like a champ and made it work. she is completely willing to stay and help you after class and she will have great conversations with you. the class is graded 50% 4 quizzes, 25% homework, and 25% midterm and final
Hansen is a really great professor. She knows what shes talking about and she stays on zoom after class if we need help on certain things. The class was a little bit tough but I was able to pass with her help and lectures!
Very nice teacher, she really wants you to reach out to her if you need any help. I just wish this class was more forgiving during COVID times, she is very strict with turn-in dates and deadlines.
Be prepared to study a LOT outside of class, she can't teach, she gets stuck in the middle of lectures and all she does is go over a bunch of example problems without actually teaching us how to do anything. Hw takes forever to do and is almost nothing like what you learn in lectures. Overall she is chill but her class is definitely difficult.
Prof. Hansen is pretty good. She takes about 1 to 1.5hrs for lecture. She has "pre-notes" which are like fill in the blank notes with example problems, pretty helpful in my opinion. Everything is on WAMAP and was organized and homework was manageable. 4 tests plus 1 final on WAMAP. Lots of time for tests. Lowest test grade is dropped.
Did not teach well and was very difficult to understand. She would only solve a couple of questions in front of us in class and tell us to go home. We also had five exams which were 60% of our grade and extremely difficult. Prof is not accommodating at all and not willing to help you learn in order to pass. She doesnt care about her students.
*Pretty accommodating with homework but there is quite a bit of it. *Class is mostly examples of problems, and she is willing to review any problem in greater detail after class. *She gives homework one extra class in advance which is really nice because you can review the homework yourself, watch a ton of videos, then understand class better.
Professor Hansen is a nice professor. She is willing to help you out if you need it. HOWEVER, she gets stuck in the middle of teaching and it takes most of the class to go over problems and she ends up having to send out the correct notes later. It is extremely alarming when you have to learn but the person teaching you is teaching you wrong.
Overall, she is very sweet. Gets stuck on small arithmetic errors often, and takes a lot of teaching time by correcting them. Notes are clear and assignments are manageable.
The course wasn't too hard, and was reasonable as 3 lowests assignments were dropped so you wouldn't be penalized for accidents. During the lecture, Professor would often get stuck because of math errors and would have to redo the problems taking up class time. Test grading was reasonable and gave room for small errors. Overall, nice professor.
She lowkey can't teach and messes up every 3 problems during lectures so I hope you're ready to kinda self-study the entire course. But tbh the material isn't that hard, and you should probably be able to understand the units using only the wamap explanations. Lectures only go for 60-90 minutes and overall, she's very nice and willing to help.
Her class is very boring but organized. She is not a good teacher and does not know how to explain her lectures. You must study for each exam and make sure you look over your notes. Your best chance of getting a good grade in the class is by studying every concept on the notes. Derivatives are a hard topic to learn, be familiar with ALL of them.
Very responsive and made math tolerable
Great professor who explains math in a concise manner (so if you want more thorough explanations, you may not like her teaching style) and answers questions quickly. Math work in WAMAP is fairly easy but is often time-consuming. Tests are through HonorLock. The online course is good to take if you're an independent "math person".
Professor Hansen is super great, and replies/grades super quickly. I took the all-online version of Math151, and you really need to be an independent math person to thrive in the class. The tests are straightforward and are pretty much all from the practice sets, so completing the textbook problems was not necessary at least for me.
Maybe it was just my experience in this particular class, but Ms. Hansen is not kind or understanding. She often disregards student's questions, messes up while lecturing and blames students for not correcting her, and has a lot of double standards. She would be nice some days and rude others. I don't know, weird class but not too difficult I guess
Speed runs lectures, doesn't actually teach she just writes down the work and expects you to follow it while shes going 100 miles an hour. Very good at responding to emails, but this class is basically teaching yourself. For tests she throws you off by putting the hardest problems possible from the chapter without go in depth of how to do them.
Professor Hansen was always extremely kind and helpful with teaching us the material. The classes often ended early, giving us time to work on the WAMAP practice problems. She was very easy to contact and quick to respond to any questions we had. Overall, it was great being in her class, and I would love to learn from her again!
This class was the first time she taught this online so I think that was why the material wasn't taught well at first, but by the end was fine. She is very accessible, even on weekends, and her own personal phone. Some quiz formatting issues. Take her classes in person and you would likely do well and can ask questions easier.
Her lectures usually lasted around an hour, followed by a group problem. She did the problems kind of fast and messed up on them pretty often. She was great about responding to questions on the wamap discussion board. Overall, she was really caring and if you're willing to put some extra effort into self-studying I would recommend her class.
WAMAP assignments are due when that day's class starts, not midnight. As long as you remember that you'll find her courses pretty easy.
Im naturally good at math so I rlly didnt put much effort into the class but the 1st exam hit me hard so I had to lock in. She makes mistakes a lot but her kindness makes up for that. Other teachers wont let u reschedule exams, she does so thats nice 1.Isnt strict as others nice 2. Makes u understand the concept puts effort available on zoom nice 3
Professor Hansen is a true gem to the Cascadia Community College staff. Her excellence in teaching skills shines brightly, not just through education but the way she shows care for her students. If you are hesitating to take a class from her, do not, it is the best choice you could make.
I really liked her class, her lectures were good and she had these prenotes that were really helpful. The class turned online because she had a surgery and that's when I started struggling. I took the class in person because I did better, she posted these lecture videos when the class became online but it still wasn't the same as in person.
Good Professor! Her class consists of daily homework assignments, some group assignments, and 3 tests. She grades tests pretty harshly, so make sure to get the one with many points right! I can think of two times when she marked my entire solution wrong because I missed something early.
Great professor 😁
Professor Hansen is an absolute gem of a professor! She understands her subject matter thoroughly, and she has been teaching calculus for so many years that she has the course plan well figured out. Her teaching style, where she explains the concepts and then works a lot of practice problems on the board, is super easy to follow.
Great person, but isn't great at explaining difficult concepts clearly. First hour of class is her lecturing, and you can leave or stay for more help after that. There will be a few extra credit options throughout the quarter. DO THEM. Her grading system is weird, so even 10 points of extra credits will boost your grade a LOT. I ended up with 107%
I love professor Hansen. I wish I took her for every math class. She's so caring and understanding. Does her best to help with any situation. Genuinely the best professor I've had at Cascadia. As someone who struggles with math and always hated it, I was able to do well in her classes and enjoy the course and actually understand the material.
Tough grader but the subject material is simple enough that it's fine. Conveys material clearly in lectures. Usually two WAMAP assignments and 1-2 physical assignments due every week. No extra credit and only WAMAP assignments get dropped (no physical assignments get dropped). Three separate non-cumulative exams, none of these get dropped either.
Super clear on her expectations which makes it easier to do well. Posts all notes and lectures in WAMAP and is super easy to contact about any questions. Class would always end early and you could stay and get help if needed too. No final because there was only three exams, so last exam only covered around 3-4 chapters.
