Very easy. all notes are on overhead.
This class was a breeze. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. GO TO CLASS. Remember those 2 things and you'll make an easy A. She is really nice and willing to help anyone, with anything.

She is very spacey and never stays on topic. She announces tests less than a week in advance. She gives some high school busy work, that wastes your time. If you talk to her in her office she will help. Do the extra credit.

She alawys gave extra credit opportunities. This helped my grade. She also made fill in the blank worksheets for the lecture.
She is easy, but so spacey! She needs to teach 6th grade. She tells you about tests like 2 days in advance (and they're over 3 chapters). Her teaching is extremly scattered and confusing. She does give lots os extra credit.

SHE IS THE BIGGEST FLAKE EVER. It's Monday and she will be like, "oh yea, there's going to be a test on Friday!"Also she contradicts the book so many times,which makes it really hard to know which answer is the right one on the tests.SHE SUCKS!
Very easy. Do all the extra credit and homework and you'll have an A. You never have you read the book, just learn whats on her outlines.
Do not take this teacher. She has no clue about anything that she should. She gives a lot of extra credit but it is all stupid busy work. Not very nice and not very helpful.
This woman is so spacey! She never stays on topic, contradicts the book, and gives no warning about tests (she posts a syllabus online, but doesn't stick to it). She has also been known to lose tests & assignments before grading them.
She is really a nice person and teacher. She is crazy (not spacy) but it makes her fun. She likes to do hands on stuff and gives PLENTY of extra credit. No attendance policy. .. I enjoyed her class; got a C and failed all of my tests.
She is sort of wierd and sometimes the tests are hard but I still got a B. Do as much extra credit as you can. It will help tremendously.
The worst professor I have ever had! Stay away from her class. She should be teaching middle school, not college courses where people actually pay to get an education. She will never tell you about tests, and she will probably lose your tests!

It's so true, I sat through the whole class thinking this woman is a joke go back and teach 3rd grade, she talks down to you and she sucks. I hated BIO 101 and did horrible but aced 102 with a different and better prof.

Hmmm....yeah, she's kinda a weird woman and not a really good professor, but she's nice I guess. So much is always going on in that class it gets rather confusing. Unless you have a huge attention span, stay away. Gives hw and busy work.
She is the most confusing person, she doesn't give good notes, she treats you like you are high schoolers, she expects you to know everything like a BIO112 student would know. She grades ridiculously WARNING DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT A BAD GRADE EVEN!!!

She doesn't go along with the syllabus at all. In our class we are a month behind. The tests are difficult for the way she teaches. Don't take this professor if you like Clarity, Consitence, and Competence from your professors. She has NONE of these.

She is a great person and willing to give LOTS of EXTRA CREDIT. The lectures are easy to listen to and she gives thorough notes, but the test are on another level all together. They are difficult, argumentative, and not clear. Be Careful!

Extremely boring teacher. Brings in examples of every thing you talk about. Treats you like a five year old. The tests are very confusing. If you do the extra credit you will be fine, but its a painful class to sit through.

She's so annoying. While she may be sweet, she is so unclear and extremely unhelpful. She will tell you you're about to take an easy test and it of course is not, then when you fail it, she can't understand why.
This class is easy, regardless of how horrible a teacher . It would be better to take her and just learn it on your own, then to take a truly difficult teacher. She can't make a test or quiz without mistakes, but that often works in your favor. Challenge her on everything and you'll get points
Her tests are easy but you have to teach yourself the material. Tests are a little ambiguous but she is not very bright herself and therefore her tests are not all that hard. Do Ec and read the book before tests. Also: she is a preachers wife and talks alot about Bob Jones UNiversity.

She means well, but taking the class was such a pain. You'd do better to teach yourself mthe lessons, but then again, she'd still screw you over with the tests and quizes. Just don't take this class. It's just not worth it.
Massie gives a lot of quizzes to help you for the tests. She gives so much extra credit; about 4-5 homework assignments throught the year using web CT. Always available to give extra credit. She's not hard AT ALL!!! Pretty easy way to close out my science requirements!
Lectures were torture to sit through, jumps around from topic to topic. You will find yourself weeks behind the lab and you never know when you will have a test or quiz. Find another class to take.
yes, she is very abstract. on the bright side, she is very easy. if you are looking to get science requirements done as easy as possible, then take her. gives a lot of extra credit.
For biology she is very easy. Plus she is laid back and friendly. She does jump from topic to topic, but she makes the notes for you so its ok. Tests and quizes are easy. I loved her, and want to take her for 102, but alot of people disliked her for some reason.
I HATED HER CLASS. She was not a good teacher. Everyone failed her tests. Not just one or two people, but everyone adn she still said it was our fault. Avoid her if at all possible. She is insane and I cringe everytime I even see her around campus.

She was very scatter brained. It is better to not listen to what she says and teach yourself or else you will get totally confused. Quizzes were rediculous. She always records grades wrong and she recorded my final exam grad wrong and it trashed my GPA.now she says it is too late to fix the error.

She is nuts. She has no focus whatsoever. She will give you chances for 30 points extra credit though. Teach yourself and you'l be fine. She changes questions on the quiz, she says not to read the book, she gets way behind on lectures, but you can pass on extra credit.

Goes on long tangents and doesn't follow the study guide. No attendance policy so best idea is to just read the book. Question wording on tests is unclear. Every time I've asked for her help she's been rude and sarcastic. Avoid taking her.
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. Barely covers any material at all in class, you will literally be months behind lab. Test and quizzes are hard especially when half the questions don't make sense or have no right answer. DO NOT take her class unless you're out to punish yourself.

She puts notes on webct. If you print them out and come to class and fill in as she goes over it, then memorize before the tests, you'll make an A..easy. However she's very unorganized and unprofessional!!!
she makes outlines and lectures from those. we were behind the lab, but that worked better because i had a much easier time with the lectures already knowing about them. but she gives you so many opportunities for extra credit. she really was easy. take her !!!

Its not her fault if people are too stupid to do well in an easy class. You go to class and write exactly what she tells you to write in the notes she has already made for you. Then you look over those notes and nothing else (studying the book is unnecessary) and you get an A.

mrs massie is a very unorganized and uncarung teacher i took her class and got a D because she did not give me credit for a test i took i have the test and have been trying to get a hold of her for 2 months but she will not respond to me so she can change my grade. I went to class more than most people and mrs massie still failed to learn my name
I Hate this class!!!!! she is the WORST professor ive ever had! She yells at us for not putting dates on things, and for not sitting next to each other, as closely as possible. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! It is so confusing, and she ALWAYS makes me late for my next class....COMPLETELY disorganized, COMPLETELY spacy, and COMPLETELY not worth the money im paying to take this useless class.
Horrible teacher! I didn't learn ANYTHING in her class. We were way behind the lab. All of the tests were multiple choice, and had confusing questions. Not worth your time or money.

Perhaps a nice lady in private life, but as a college teacher way unqualified. Class is out of sync with the lab, she talks to the class as though we are third graders, wastes entire class sessions on how to turn in homework. Didn't start teaching anything related to Bio until the 3rd week. Definitely do not take. Waste of money and time.

She tries to teach by "concept" learning which basically boils down to a bunch of crap that doesn't make sense, even to her half the time. She is unclear and makes the class so hard because you can never keep up with what she wants you to do. Please, for your own good, stay away!!!!!
Mrs. Massie is so unorganized but she is really sweet and offers a ton of extra credit, so it is pretty easy to get an A/B without much work.
To avoid an getting an ulcer do not take her if you can help it and if not..I hope you have good insurance because severe medical problems will result from sitting in her class.
i thought i was failing this class all semester, going to it made me want to cry. bad teacher, but ended up giving out so much extra credit i got a 98 in the class when i only had an 80 test average.

Mrs.Massie means well, but she is so scattered and it is very unclear what exactly to study for test/quizzes. Class time is spent doing pointless activities that have nothing to do with what you will be tested on- and shes a hard grader! no good!
One of the worst at CofC. She is nice but, very unclear and very, very disorganized. Did not follow syllabus and it was practically impossible to take notes. Her lectures just rambled on and didn’t follow any pattern—very hard to follow. It was all so sporadic. She assigned homework, then forgot she assigned it. Lots of extra credit though.

If you want to take a self taught class, this is the one. Her notes have no relevance to the exams or RATs. She teaches only about creationism & evolution & 1 or 2 chapters from the book. So when it comes to exams be prepared to study about 10 chapters on your own. Definitely better off as a high school teacher. Nice lady, but not worth the effo
Mrs. Massie speaks to us like we're in still elementary school. We spend weeks talking about unrelated topics and just minutes discussing Biology. Her assignments are pointless, too. Oh, and save your money and don't bother buying the textbook. We have yet to even open it.
Very nice woman, a little crazy but still nice. If you have trouble with bio/science DO NOT TAKE HER. She offers lost of extra credit, but is unclear about what she wants done. As well, you teach yourself everything.

She's a nice lady... but I hate the way she teaches. She flies through powerpoints w/o giving any thorough explanation of anything. Gives lots of extra credit, but she is picky (esp. about MLA citation). Pretty much have to teach yourself for the tests... case study assignments completely irrelevant to material.

The class is barely biology related, and she is so unclear. Going to class was somewhat pointless, because you didnt learn anything when you went. Very nice lady, but terrible teacher.

She is a terrible teacher. She doesn't stay on topic. She doesn't know MLA format. She takes forever to get things back to the student. She does projects that have not relevency to Biology and I did not learn anything in her class.
This is by far the most awful teacher yet at CofC... She ignores people, can't stay on task, doesn't give up back papers in a timely fashion, whenever something is due expect her as your turning in the assignment for her to make up some new guideline just so she can give you a bad grade... It's awful stay away!!!!
Assignments are completely unrelated to the class, the tests never make any sense, can't lecture for the life of her, doesn't even make her own power points, and makes very **** comments every now and then. All in all, get as far away as possible from this class as you can.

I like bio and am really good at it but this lady made me despise it. she can't even do a simple punnet square without screwing it up. she makes the most difficult problems hard. yes she does give extra credit opportunities but if you can't work for a teacher you don't respect then dont take her! Will not answer questions clearly or through email.

She gives extra credit-do it because you will probably need it. Easy class if you are a bio-buff, but you won't learn. She includes God in each lecture-weird if you aren't Christian. She's lost my work twice and gave me zeros for them. I know you can't choose because all it says is STAFF, but try switching your time when you see that you have her.

I don't know how she received her degree. I've known her personally for several years and I refused to take her for Bio 102 and took summer session with McMillan instead. All the students in that summer class had taken Massie the previous term and had failed. Do not take her if you don't want to repeat science.

Probably the worst teacher at the school. Cant control the class. Teaches her opinion not fact. Is not clear about what she wants from you. Questions and answers on quizes are often times wrong. The class is very frustrating. You feel like a moron in Lab because she doesnt teach you what you need to know. Seems like it would be easy but shes not.
She is absolutely horrible. She has a great heart and I wish I could say better about her, but the woman goes in circles, never fully explains anything, and then tests hard. DO NOT TAKE.

She is so sweet but doesn't know what is going on. If you are nice she will help you out. Grades are arbitrary and she relies on grading with a bell curve (MUST be certain number of A's C's and F's). If you don't want to learn anything about bio or just want a good laugh take her.
Prof. Massie was not a good professor, but if you are just taking Bio for a requirement, TAKE HER CLASS. I thought I would fail her class, but if you just half-way pay attention and do all the extra credit, it's easy to make an A.

Not a very smart person, reminds me of a ditsy cheerleader trying to teach. We've had one test other than the final exam the whole year, and it happened about 4 weeks before the end of the semester. She also tries to bring God in the classroom, and relates EVERYTHING back to creationism. NEVER TAKE THIS WOMAN. SHE BELONGS IN HIGH SCHOOL AT BEST!

She teaches you like you are in 2nd grade & tests you like a grad student. she shouldn't be allowed to teach anyone & i dont see how she still has a job. she never uses the book except for the pwpnt you do on your own and then gets mad when you do it wrong cause you had to teach yourself. if you have to take her, do Extra credit!
