This guy is like 24, he can NOT teach. If you do not already have a background in Chemistry before taking this class you will NOT understand. He provides NO help... The only way to understand the class is tutors or SI sessions. Sempertegui will NOT be of any help, but you must go to class for iClicker points. It is not a good class to take with him
Tito is not the best teacher, however he does give you in depth explanations if you ask him about a concept you don't understand. You MUST talk to him and ask questions during class if you want to fully understand the material. A lot of extra credit is given and there is a lot of tutoring review SI sessions to go to! Take advantage!also do OWL hw
I love his class. Ask questions and he will explain very clearly.
AVOID TAKING TITO'S CHEMISTRY CLASS AT ALL COSTS. You are set up to not understand a single thing unless you come into this class with some chemistry background already under your belt.
Easy A. Lots of extra credit. You can't fail
He's a great Proffesor and it's an super easy class.
Tito is perfect. Make sure you get Tito at all costs. Best professor in the history of chemistry. This man just gets it... Like when you are in a class or even room with Tito you are Chemistry! This man will make you want to change your life to chemistry.
First time ever that I was able to get A in my major courses in FAU. Test materials were directly from the lecture. He also gave us quite a lot of free points, too (very generous). Since he didn't post ppt on blackboard, good note was a must. The way he taught was very clear and easy too. He was also ready to help us.
HEAVY accent, and he uses a terrible quality mic that makes it worse. But, if you can sit up front, you're in for a very enjoyable lecture. He LOVES questions, and is very approachable after class or office hours :)
Tito is a great professor to have for Chemistry. Does iClicker in class which counts for a huge portion of the grade. The class isn't too hard as long as you don't put off the OWL homework and pay attention to what he's saying in class. If you do poorly on tests there's a TON of extra credit that you can do to substantially boost your grade.
Ok Tito WANTS YOU TO PASS! His lectures are a little bit confusing if you don't read and prepare ahead of time but you can make up for that by going to SI, his office hours or your TA's office hours. Also he gives you TONS of extra credit, so even if you're not doing too well on exams the extra credits combined at the end will help out
Tito is so nice and very approachable if you ever want to stay after class or go to his office hours for help! He gives SO MUCH extra credit which helps like crazy. He has an accent but he's definitely still understandable. Exam material is clearly outlined which makes it easy to study. Big attendance and participation are mandatory. Do the HW!!
Tito was a good professor. Always energetic. Seems to really enjoy chemistry. Gives ALOT of extra credit (almost 12 of an exam's worth). Class is pretty simple just show up to class and pay attention and make sure to stay up on online homework (most of extra credits only unlocks when you have a certain % of homework finished)
Tito shows clear interest and passion for Chemistry. He always cracks himself up, along with everyone else. Lots of extra credit, and a good amount of online homework. Make sure to skim over the book before coming to class, or you'll be a bit lost without it. His accent isn't that heavy, and make sure to go to class for those attendance points.
Tito is probably the MOST energetic professor I have had at FAU, he's always happy & excited about chemistry. Gives a lot of extra credit & is so helpful!! He is very funny & his accent is adorable. He loves when people ask questions & take the time to visit him in office hours. Do your owl homework! & The extra credit really boosts your grade!
Tons of extra credit offered from the hw, attendance, and curves. Do the suggested practice problems from his class notes and the homework to prepare for the exam.
Professor Tito is sooooo passionate about chemistry!! but his class is not for the weak of heart! This is college and you will be learning most of the material on your own and you will have to dedicate A LOT of time to his class to pass with a good grade!
Lectures are long but he does not really go into a lot of details. So you have to read the book before you go to class to understand what he is saying. There is a lot of homework but you have the whole semester to do it, just don't procrastinate. Tests are long but easy if you practice the material beforehand.
I had Tito for gen chem one and two. He is very helpful and his enthusiasm really makes you want to learn. He really wants you to pass and if you do the homework and put time and effort into the class you will pass.
Uses I-clicker, so if you don't show up and answer the questions, you'll miss out on a big part of your grade. The tests aren't hard if you do the homework before, but since the homework isnt due until the end of the semester, there isnt much drive to do it. His lectures are very good and he answers questions and provides clarity when needed.
Took chem two with him over summer and it was the same procedure as chem 1. Tons of extra credit offered throughout the semester so there is no reason not to get an A
Tito is a pretty good teacher, but he talks very fast so it can be hard to catch up. His tests can be pretty tricky, but he gives a fair chance to do well with a lot of extra credit. Make sure you show up for class, he does a lot of I-Clickers and its a huge part of the grade.
I love Tito, he is always energetic, ready to start, and passionate about his class. It gives me motivation to study on his class.
Honestly I've never seen anyone love chemistry as much as Tito, he gets so excited when teaching and is literally like a little child on Christmas day during class. He makes chem more inter just bc he cares so much about it.
DO ALL OF YOUR EXTRA CREDIT, THE TESTS ARE VERY HARD! I AM GREAT AT SCIENCE AND HAD TO WITHDRAW. DO NOT LET YOURSELF GET LOST HALFWAY THROUGH THE SEMESTER, READ THE BOOK AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE LECTURES. HE NO LONGER CURVES SO THE EXTRA CREDIT IT THE ONLY HOPE YOU HAVE - PAY ATTENTION FROM THE BEGINNING DO NOT STUDY THE NIGHT BEFORE TRUST ME
His excitement about chem is infectious. He really wants to help you get this and if you visit him during office hours he will definitely steer you in the right direction. Don't be dismayed if your first test grade sucks. He offers A LOT of extra credit during the semester. Take advantage of all of these and you can't fail.
Tito is very energetic and he gets very excited about chem, it makes lectures interesting. Tests are difficult, if you do all extra credit and homework you will pass, so take advantage of it. You must pay attention and go to class.
Do all the extra credit, show up to class, and do the homework. Follow those things and I can guarantee you will at least get a B-. The test are difficult, but that doesn't mean that they are not passable. Go to SI tutoring/reviews. He rarely curves now--the 90 extra credit points are more than enough.
Tito is a wonderful teacher. He is always energetic and ready to teach you Chemistry. I highly suggest to take advantage of all the extra credit he offers because it can really help your grade in the end. I didn't read the textbook, but if you want to pass without struggling you should. Take good notes from his lectures. Hard class, but passable.
Best professor at FAU. gives so much extra credit opportunities. Do your homework and extra credit quizzes and you will pass.
Great guy, super motivated. Pay attention, do a bit of Homework each day and make sure you understand the previous lectures material before heading into the next one.
Great Professor, goes over everything. As long as you do your homework on time, you should pass the class. There is a lot of extra credit so do not complain. I received 745 of 750 points. That is because I got about 70 extra credit points. If you do not go to lectures and ignore H.W., you will FAIL!!! Go to office hours.
This class was a terrible experience. Chemistry is just hard period but Tito makes it even harder. Goes way to Fast in class and is sometimes not understandable because of his thick accent. Overall worst experience of my life and I wouldn't take it again . Tito is very nice though and he gives extra credit quizzes and also curves. Does I clicker
Great professor! This guy offers so much extra credit that as long you do it all, your sure to pass the class.
He is kind and helpful and you can earn extra credits if you do homework and chapter quiz. Make sure to answer questions with i-Clicker in class which will help you to earn credit (even your answers are wrong). The exams are difficult but he curves , so it 's ok.
This is the worst class I have ever taken at FAU. Tito's accent makes it impossible to understand him and the exams are unnecessarily long and the same goes for the OWL homework too. If you screw up on one exam, not even the homework will save your grade. Its ridiculous. Avoid him at all costs.
Took Tito for Gen Chem 1 and 2, and his tests are hell and the online homework is overwhelming. He teaches well enough and does help you if you go to office hours. He has an accent and can be annoying at times but he's nice and Chemistry in general is a class you have to do work for. However, Clicker and online homework HELPS. It helped me get my A
Gives opportunity for extra credit. If you come to class, do the iclicker questions and homework you will do well. Store gly recommend doing the extra credit quizzes. Didn't really use the book but some people find it helpful.
Tito is a great professor! If your willing to put time into doing your homework I highly recommend taking him. Offers almost 50 points of extra credit through out semester. Tests are hard but if you do the homework and extra credit it makes up for bad test grades. Took him over summer and he dropped our lowest test grade too.
His class averages on tests are around 50% which is something he brags about. If you got less than a B- in a previous chemistry class he assures you will fail his. It is a very calculation intensive class but you will have to mostly figure out how to do all that on your own. his lectures are hard to follow and the follow along material is bunk
I can not understand Tito at ALL. He has an accent and he talks so fast it's hard to keep up. The notes are basically given to you so those are easy and he uses I-Clicker for attendance but it doesn't matter if you get the answer right or not. SO MUCH HOMEWORK. I learned nothing going to lectures but discussions and SI help A LOT so take advantage
He is an awesome Professor. Remember its Chemistry, a class you are going to have to work, no matter who the professor is. work hard and you will do fine.
Dr. Smpertegui is an overall okay professor. Sometimes his accent gets in the way of understanding some things but he loves chemistry and clearly loves teaching it. Most students complain about grades but it's their own fault, there's a reason Chem 1 is known as a weeder course. If you do the homework and read the textbook you'll pass.
Tito is really passionate about chemistry and provides a lot of examples for his students to understand. He is quick moving and lecture heavy, but it's chemistry and that's expected. Attend class, study a lot, and attend SI sessions because people like me regret doing so. Overall, he's a super cool guy- I just wish the subject was easier.
Dr. Sempertegui is a chemistry genius, but because of which many students struggle with his exams. The extra credit quizzes on Owl central are empashized in class often as being good resources for the exams, but the wording in his exams makes it difficult to understand which equation is necessary to solve which problem. Focus on the textbook!
Tito is so smart when it comes to chemistry, but his teaching style doesn't translate well for undergrads. He reads from the slides mostly, wish that he would work things out step by step more since this is a math heavy class. The book is awful, doesn't explain steps for problems fully. Extra credit, home work, and iClickers will save your grade!
Chemistry is a difficult subject to grasp regardless of who is intructing it, however Dr. Sempertegui did a phenomenal job at teaching the material. There is a lot of Extra Credit and he truly cares about the students. His class is a lot of work and you must put forth a lot of effort in order to succeed. If you have a chance to take him then do it.
Chemistry is a hard class, but Dr. Sempertegui was always available to help. Even though his class was at 8am, he always was cheerful and passionate about teaching. Very energetic!
He wants you be 100% dedicated to his chemistry class, and most of it is busy work. If you do all of the homework, extra credit and do mediocre on the exams you can get a 0 on the final and still pass.
By far the best chemistry professor at FAU. He really wants you to do well and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. His homework assignments help you understand the material and this course wasn't too textbook focused. His exams are fair and he gives a pretty decent curve. Take notes of his lecture slides, do the iclickers and extra credit!
Tito is a great professor. He is really passionate and enthusiastic about chemistry which makes learning it less tedious. Going to class and taking brief notes can be really helpful. He also gives lots of extra credit so as long as you do the homework and extra credit, you should do well on the exams.
Although he does give a lot of extra credit I would suggest that if you have the option to, take it with someone else. I would have failed this class if it wasn't for studyzone. He runs through the material and then his test are nothing like what he teaches. I worked really hard, probably the hardest I ever had for his class and only got a B.
If you go to FAU he is the only one who teaches chemistry 2. There were 300 kids in my class and about 50 dropped because of his teaching. I understand it's difficult to teach from a powerpoint (because chem is more of a "teach on the white board thing") but I didn't learn anything. Beware of hard homework and ridiculous lectures that make 0 sense.
Tito is good but the bad thing thing about it is he uses this software on the computer that doesnt allow much space so he can write out the solution. It ends up being hard to follow the steps (most of what he skips anyway). DO NOT I repeat DO NOT take owl homework lightly. Secondly do ALL of the extra credit. Its a lot but complete it anyway!
Tito is a very energetic professor. You can do average on all of the tests and do all the homeworks, extra credit, and show up for iClicker points and still get an A in the class. It was nice having the workbook so you did not have to rush to take notes. He is very passionate about chemistry and is eager to help students, if needed. One of the best
Make sure you attend class and click every question, even wrong answer. If you study the book only, you wont do well. Extra credit at end IF ALL homework is done. Taking Chem 2? Final will be Chem1 and 2 from testing. I got a B. My gpa? 3.80. If you do bad, he tells you its your fault. Even though tests were harder then they need to be.
Loved chemistry, hate it now. He is 'a rule' professor. Follows the rules like the bible. Honestly believes its his moral obligation to separate the A and B students. Makes tests much harder than needs to be. Final was Chem1 and 2 combined, even though it was only a Chem2 class. Homework was ridiculously long for measly amounts of points. Hated it
Tito's class was rough. Even by doing all of the extra credit, homework and attending SI sessions I did not do well on the exams. I failed the first one and did average on the other two. For the final it was made out to be easy, but when I took it it was not that easy. I would not take him for Chem 2 he doesn't help you to understand the topics.
There's so much extra credit and he curves the exams a lot. A lot of homework but it's easy and raises your grade so much. Overall the class is an easy A if you show up and do the homework.
Class is not easy, I took it with Neurophysiology (bad idea). There's a lot of extra credit, i-clicker is easy points, & the hw is very tedious at times. I did average on the first 2 tests and got a B on the 3rd test. The final is a standardized & conceptual, questions from Chem 1+2 (got an A on it). Extra credit helps, go to SI, ask him questions.
First, people need to stop complaining about his accent. It is not that bad. Second, he does a great job explaining & breaking down the material and has a lot of patience for his students. But, the exams are hard. You need to know the content like the back of your hand. Do all the hw and extra credit as well.
Great professor. His test are tough but he gives out practice exams under module which is identical to the real exam. Make sure you do the HW extra credit because it boost you up a letter grade.
Wonderful professor, very patient and caring towards students. The exams were okay but they help prepare you for the final. Do all the hw and extra credit bc they boost ur grade A LOT.
Tito is sweet and seems like he cares a lot about his students. He is not the best when it comes to explaining concepts during lectures. He is unorganized/hard to follow when doing even the most basic chemistry problems. I had to read all the chapters and teach myself through the online textbook for most concepts. Pay attention to his powerpoints.
I took chem 2 during the summer, in 6 weeks bad idea. I do not recommend! Tito is a tough professor but he's so sweet and cares a lot for his students. He gives a lot of homework and extra credit that will boost your grade. His exams are extremely hard but it's chem what do you expect? Try hard and do the homework and you'll be okay. T
***Make sure to do all homework and all extra credit way ahead of time.***Dr. Titos tests are made well, most of his questions have multiple concepts and the class test avg is very, very low. ACS final is conceptual (No math), and fairly straightforward. On top of that he gives a lot of extra points on the final. Really generous professor.
I , too, took Tito over the summer and he honestly had to be one of the worst prof. that I've had thus far. He tells you that you need to know everything for his exams and when his exams actually come, half of the material he wanted you to remember is not even on the exams. He does give lots of EC, so be sure to take advantage of it and do all hmwk
I took Tito for chem 1 and chem 2. He is an awesome professor! I got an A in both classes. Chem 1 I found easy however Chem 2 was rough. However HANG IN THERE! He gives alot of curves and extra credit which will GET YOU THROUGH! Tito is awesome! Exams hard but curve HUGE
This class was challenging, but if you keep up with the homework, extra credit, and iclicker questions, you'll be fine. Tito is a nice guy and will help you out, as long as you are actually making an effort. I attended every SI session I could, and it made a difference. This class was all about time investment. The tests are really big on concepts.
I suggest sitting close to the front during lectures, heavy accent kind of hard to understand but still english, grade relies on homework and tests, go to SI sessions and tutoring if you dont understand, and do the practice tests before because they're exact replicas
This class can be very challenging, Tito knows what he's doing and is an amazing teacher, but sometimes he goes a little to fast. This class really requires a lot of studying, but go to the SI meetings & if you need additional help, schedule at the tutoring center. But I bet if you don't understand something, go to his office and he will help you
Complete waste of my money. The professor made us pay for OWL software and then we had to buy his textbook which included his lecture slides because he would not provide us with the powerpoints online. He made his exams so hard that nearly everyone would fail. He curved the exams so much that it made no sense to even have an exam. WORST CLASS EVER!
Tito is a great lecturer. He is very engaging in a huge class. The class is tough but do ALL of your homework and ALL extra credit homework and you'll be OK. Moderate spanish accent. I got Cs on 2 exams and Fs on one and the final. With all EC, HW, attendance and discussion grade, I got a decent grade. Put in the work and you'll be fine.
Dr. Sempertegui is definitely not the best professor out there. He speaks very fast, and sometimes his accent makes him hard to understand. His handwriting is terrible so its hard to read what he writes on his PowerPoints. Studying hard for this class is required if you want to pass.
I HATED chem but Tito was an amazing teacher. Had him for chem 1 and 2. Just do all the homework and show up to class and study well for the tests and you can pass.
He sucks. Plain and simple. He doesnt teach just reads off of the PowerPoints and doesnt actually give you time to do the practice problems he shows on the PowerPoints. He does iclickers so show up. Overall, hes terrible. I wish Huchital taught Chem 2.
Tito isn't the best professor out there if you really want to learn, you'll pick up on a few things but he teaches through powerpoints and goes very quickly . I got an "-A" because he did a huge curve maybe I got lucky maybe he just does huge curves. It was meh didn't learn much but I passed.
Reads notes off o.o. Does not seem interested in helping students understand material. The study guides have been said to be exact material on the tests but the tests have all had completely unknown material. We study as a group - we are all high achievers- some in medical program.
Professor Sempertegui is a good choice. He's not phenomenal but he's no pain either. I failed the second exam but aced the final and received an A in the course. (huge curve) He provides more than enough extra credit to fail two exams and still receive a passing grade. He can teach you but you need to learn it for yourself.
Tito is a great instructor. His exams are not easy, but if you put in honest work you can pass. He's entertaining during lecture. I actually hated chemistry before taking his class but he almost made me want to major in it! Almost!
Honestly he sucks at explaining concepts, and his powerpoints do not help at all. best way to pass his exams are practice the hw and extra credit quizzes. This class is so easy to pass, hard exams but huge exam curves (12 points of each of mine) and tonsss of extra credit.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT procrastinate on the HW and extra credit, they are a huge help to understand the concepts and huge help towards the end of the semester. Tito is a good teacher and caring, but will make you work for it. Its lot of material so he goes fast. I clicker extra credit helps out a lot, so do not miss class.
Well, I'm going to have to retake this class. Thank God I won't be at FAU any longer, this professor speaks too fast and goes fast. Lab was harder and much more work than it needed to be (It like it's own class). Practice Test is easier than the actual exam. Do well on the first 4 exams and decent on the ACS so it doesn't tank your grade like mine
This man is like the energizer bunny- goes very very fast and has terrible handwriting(it was like trying to read hieroglyphics.) If it wasnt for the extra credit and homework I would have failed. Hes passionate about chemistry but if its not your strong suit then I recommend someone different. He writes the tests, but not the final(on CHM1&2)
This class was a lot tougher compared to Gen Chem 1 and I had to do a lot of self teaching in order to do well. He gives out very generous test curves and drops your lowest exam score. Make sure to do all the OWL homework and extra credit since it boosts your grade a lot. Also, take the ACS exam final seriously and study hard for it!
Chemistry itself is a hard class, Tito is a great professor and explains well the topics, and he loves what he does.. if you do the homework, the extra credit and the study guides you should at least get a grade above average. I would definitely take him again as a professor.
Took Tito for both chem 1 and chem 2. Chemistry is hard, there is no way around that but he does not help make it easier. The homework, extra credit, and iclicker helps you bump your grade but the exams are very challenging. For chem 2, there is a nationals exam for the final which is worth 40% of your grade.
take him if you want to pass chem! I failed every test horribly but the first and still passed with a C! Do all the extra credit and HW and you will pass!! He's a good professor compared to others and gets very excited about chem! Very nice, i highly recommend!!!!! took him for summer while taking 3 other classes and still passed TAKE HIM!
Tito was a very frustrating professor. He flew threw lectures and wasn't very clear on topics. He expects you to already know the material. He gives practice exams which aren't that helpful since the actual exams are nothing like the practice. Only 1 exam was similar to the practice exam. Do all the extra credit and go to class!
You can get an A+ in CHM over the summer, just get a B average on 2 tests, get a C on 1 and get an A on 1 test. Do the sample exams. Do all the HW and attempt the X-tra credit. The final is worth 37% of your grade (it's curved). Follow what I say & you'll need a 57% on the final. If you complain now, a CHM intense major is not your path...
If you have an option to take another professor, I suggest you do. I took him for Chem2 during the summer and he barely gave us time to finish homework and tests. The test were nothing like the practice exams. He speeds through his lectures and doesn't work with his students. Worst professor I have ever had in my whole entire life. DON'T DO IT
All Im saying is do yourself a favor and dont take Chem at FAU since hes the only one that teaches Chem 2. He isnt a bad person himself but the way his class is structure makes an already difficult subject worse. I personally am not a fan of online exams, but his are all online. Take it at pbsc or bc because the final will ruin your grade.
I love Tito! He is such a good professor, and he allows me to call him by his first name... Easiest class ever. Don't even know why people think this stuff is hard... I always sat in front, asked questions, since I am SO smart, and I know it helps others when I ask questions Thank you Tito! <3
10/10 teacher. I would recommend him to any student taking chem 1. He makes his class so engaging and interesting to be in. His lectures are always fun to be in. He curves his tests a lot so a C will most likely become a B. He gives so much extra credit so you should do them. He's really easy to talk to and access if you have any questions
Chem with Tito was alright. There is a lot of extra credit so if you do bad on a couple of tests you should be able to bring your grade up if you do all of your extra credit.
Tito is a great professor for chem and a nice guy. He does iClicker every class so go, attendance is only 25 points though. He goes fast in his lectures sometimes. If you don't understand, you can ask him or go to one of the free SI(tutoring) sessions. The tests are curved, easy to study for bc of sample exams he posts on canvas. Homework,EC easy
He goes very fast and assumes that the students are already aware of the lesson being taught. His accent is thick and if you cant understand him thats your problem because he will keep going. I recommend the other professor and doing all the homework/extra credit is the most beneficial way to pass.
Great professor! He structures lecture with PowerPoint, interactive iClicker, and worked out examples. Enthusiastic and presents information well. People that are complaining about fast pace must have not adopted college expectations yet. Reading in advance is helpful but not required. YES, you must put in work to get the grade! (Office hrs, etc)
I took Tito for chem 1 and I am taking him again for chem 2. Chemistry is not an easy subject so be prepared to put in work and study and i promise you your grade will reflect the amount of time you put in the course. He does move on a fast pace but GO TO SI (free tutoring) they go over what he lectured an break it down to where its easy to get!
Nice guy, but kind of confusing to understand. Goes fairly quickly but you can ask him to slow down or go to office hours. Good at what he does.
Tito is not a bad guy, but he's a very fast pace professor and can sometimes come across like you're already supposed to know the material. But he's really nice and will help you if you need it. The homework & extra credit give you a nice boost in your grade. DO THE HOMEWORK and EC!! Three exams, plus a final.. get the review book for the final!
tito is very nice and he knows a lot about chemistry, sometimes he tries too hard to be funny but his lectures are good and he explains everything about it, answer all questions you might have and you have to be there for the clicker questions. his homework has a lot of questions and the exams have a lot of tricky questions.
Incredibly easy class if you put any sort of effort into it. Tests are intentionally tricky - he likes to design problems with exceptions to rules. The practice exams usually mimic the actual exam, though they are slightly easier. Show up to class, pay attention, do the HW, do the extra credit (it's worth the extra time) and it's easy to pass.
He makes you work hard for the exams and homework. He's a very nice professor and wants you to pass. He gives a lot of extra credit but the exams are really hard. Try to study from the text book and sample exam questions he provides. He's very energetic and keeps you awake in his lectures. Overall a good professor, but a hard course
Absolutely hate chemistry. Slept in instead of going to lecture majority of the semester, still got full iclicker points. Gave extensions for every homework date and reopened them again at the end of semester. My exam grades were in the 30s-50s. Got a B+ anyways
if you do all the extra credits and homework which are really time consuming you will be at least get a C+ in the class the final American chemical society exam is cumulative but you will have to rely heavy on it, it is basically everything what you learnt from chem 1/2, make sure you give time to yourself ahead of time to be prepared for b4 class
Nice guy, but don't think he ever worked in his field prior to teaching because his teaching methods are terrible - I took the loss of attendance points after the 24th lecture and heavily relied on the book. Lots of EC (but they're REALLY tedious), 1 exam drop during Spring, and lots of HW (tedious and was nothing like the EC nor the exams)
Dr. Sempertegui talks very fast during lectures and does not explain concepts very well because of that. He wants students to do well, but the course is very fast paced, you have to learn about a chapter per week. I think it would be better if he slowed down and let students to absorb the information in class. There is a lot of homework.
Awesome Professor and grading system in this class is made so that there is no way of failing, even if u dont do good on exams do the homework/extra credit because it helps a lot. DO THE SAMPLE EXAMS, they are very helpful when taking the tests!!!!! Made chem very easy and fun to learn.
Great Professor! Yes, his class is fast paced, but if you have the lecture "notebook" then you can focus more on the lecture and just fill in blanks. iClicker for gauging understanding. Sample exams useful. HW is decent % of grade, do not procrastinate. He literally curves everything, hard to fail. Enthusiastic. Final was curved. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Tito is a great chemistry professor who is excited about his subject matter. There is a HUGE CURVE in this class. You can get a C on every exam, do the homework and extra credit, and still get an A plus he curves every exam by like 10/12 points. You still need to put in work to get an A but it is more than fair for a college level chem course.
Class was easy with minimal effort as Tito is a great professor. I took it in 6 weeks (Summer A) and he didn't go too fast or not cover enough. Practice exams extremely similar to real ones and both were similar to final. Exams were easy. Tons of extra credit. Comparing this to Chem 1 at my home university, it's a cake walk. Don't stress.
Overall I would suggest not taking this class over the summer. He gives out less extra credit over the summer. He also does not drop one exam over the summer. The final is extremely difficult but it is curve. Exams are curved by about 5 points. There are better benefits to taking the class during the spring or fall semesters.
Okay, what to say about professor tito, he is great. I hate chemistry took him for 6 weeks and learned so much, I pass with a C and didn't even complete all the homework. he is awesome and I feel that if I had put a lttle more effort I would of pass with a B or better however he cares and awesome. take him you have to study hard tho
Tito was a great lecturer, but he does not curve and does not replace any test grades. He said there was extra credit in our homework, but it seemed like it only affected a handful of students. Kind and funny, but his class is moderately difficult.
Easy F, thank me later!! Just AVOID!
I LOVE TITO. He loves chemistry and truly wants his students to receive. His office hours are extremely helpful and he is overall an amazing and happy guy.
Great professor. Explains concepts well and is enjoyable to listen to in lecture.
This class is a lot of work because it's chem. You will have to work and study a lot and homework is really tedious, but overall chem 1 isn't too hard. The final is similar to the practice one but it's harder than the previous exams. I got mid-high Cs on exams and the final, didn't do all the extra credit and got an A.
Tito is always happy and excited to teach chemistry. He makes a difficult class a little more enjoyable and he always stays on topic. A hard class overall but if you take notes and study in advance, you should do just fine.
Adequate. He lectures super fast and wants to get through a whole chapter in 2 days
He's a really nice guy and you can tell he loves his job. However, he goes very fast, it's really hard to follow. Lots of iclicker questions so don't skip class. He gives a lot of extra credit on the homeworks, and it really helps your grade.
Great person, not the best professor. Lectures are sometimes rushed and left many with questions, when resolving problems his work was all over the place so I couldn't follow. Due to COVID-19, distance learning actually helped! He now takes his time and answers our questions. It's 50/50, only prof teaching it anyway. Don't skip class!!!
Chemistry is tough, but Dr. S gives a ton of extra credit and his SI leader is wonderful (sorry she'll be gone next semester) There is a ton of homework, the tests are tough but not very different from his sample exams. Dr. S is a good man and so understanding. We went fully online because of COVID and lockdown browser was mandatory
Good professor. Made you you knew everything that was going to on his exams. THERE IS PLENTY of extra credit. All of the exams are curved. Mine specifically were curved over 25%!!! It is hard to get a c-, d, or f. you will pass. CLASS IS HARD final is 40%, 3 exams 40%, hw is 13.3%, clicker is 6.7%, ec brings is roughly 110% COVID19 understanding
iClicker participation is important, Homework and EC are time extensive but you'll be glad you took the time to do the EC. Lowest exam is dropped and the rest are curved. Despite CHM II being the most challenging science Ive taken so far (A&P II/Bio II), Tito is by far the best lecturer & teacher. edit: Tito was a better lecturer than my Orgo prof
He moves through the material extremely fast. During Covid-19, professors werent allowed to use lockdown browser unless previously stated in the syllabus, Tito did not care and many students had to scramble to purchase a webcam or supporting laptop in the midst of a pandemic If you dont have time to go to SI sessions youll be teaching yourself.
To succeed and pass this course, just do the homework, attend the lectures, and do kinda well on the exams. The homework takes a ton of time but helps your grade. Study hard for the exams because they are no joke.
He makes concepts that should be very simple into complex and confusing ones. He does not provide enough time on the exams to work through hard problems and then copy our work including complex equations into the computer. I am sure this class is better in person, but lectures do nothing but confuse and frustrate me.
I took this course for the summer and was overwhelmed with all the work given. Definitely recommend studying and attending SI sessions, which helped big time. Tito is such a sweet soul! so don't hesitate to attend his office hours if you're confused. The HW is way harder than the exams, and exam 2 will be the hardest exam!
This class is difficult for a 6-week course but an A is doable. Exam 1 was not so bad, but exam 2 will make you reconsider if taking this course over the summer was a good idea. Exam 3 was decent and the comprehensive final will be a walk in the park if you study, attend his review, and look over exam 1-3 with knowing how to solve each question.
DO NOT TAKE DURING THE 6 WEEK SUMMER!!! It is very hard but if you dont have a choice then okay its understandable. LOTS OF HOMEWORK. Homework for Lab, Discussion, and Lecture. Keep up with dates!! Pass Discussion with a 100 as it will be a test grade for the Lecture. EXAM 1 was Okay, EXAM 2 was the hardest one. Not enough time. Final exam was easy
COVID- Took him 6 weeks summer. Only had a day or two to complete modules. FINISH ALL HOMEWORK BIG GRADE BOOSTER. I literally failed all the exams but the homework and discussion and extra credit got me to a B-. grading scale is curved. A 77% is a B- a 66% is a C- but he is an Okay im taking him for Chem two for second half of summer
if you're planning on taking him in summer, don't. 6 weeks to do chem means everything is rushed and you don't have enough time for all the required material + lab. he is a nice guy but take him in person/full term instead
Explain how I got straight As this semester except this class?terrible class. Exams were absolutely ridiculous and the amount of homework for 6 week course is ridiculous as well.
I took CHM2045 over the summer over a 6 week period. The content wasn't that challenging but there was definitely a time commitment since sometimes a single homework assignment would take 3-4 hours to do. Homework and quizzes are due every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Just be ready to spend everyday doing work, especially if you have lab as well.
I would not recommend taking chem 2 with Tito AT ALL. If you want to break out in hives and question your career path due to unfair lectures, homework, and grading, take him. He never answers emails and this professor is what is going to give FAU's chemistry department a bad rep.
Hard to follow. Lectures are super fast. He tries to encourage you by saying material is easy when more than half of the class if failing... Changed my major because of this professor.
6 weeks course fully online due to covid. The HW was is hell, occupies most of your time and gives you not much time to study for the actual exam. I would only suggest taking this class 6 week class if you have a strong chemistry background
I took Tito for chem 1 and 2 with labs over the summer. If you have a job or plan on taking other classes in the summer DON'T take his 6 week course. For his exams focus on the quiz questions, notes and SI DON'T study from the hws. For his final exclusively study from past exams and you will be more than fine. Most people's grades go up 10% at end.
Literally the worst professor. Does not care about his students at all. First B I have ever received in my 4 years of college and that B included not sleeping for 6 weeks. After reaching out to him, he clearly does not care. Do not take him at all, I am warning you. I dont know how he is not fired already.
I took tito in the 6 weeks summer course. It was nothing like chem 1!!! There are modules due almost every day including hw, quizzes, discussions. I sent about 5 emails and through the class got about only 2 responses. The exams are with webcam and have a time limit, barely any time to workout the problems. DO ALL THE HWS AND TRY TO GET 100S!
Tito is the best! He is so enthusiastic about chemistry which makes the lectures engaging. Gen chem is not the easiest course but if you following along with the printed lecture notes its not too bad. Theres also a few iClickers every class that count for attendance and are a separate grade. Took him again for CHM2046 and it was a bit easier.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He tries so hard to speak fast that he ends up saying "'EH" every 3 seconds. He does not responds to emails, not from canvas, nor fau edu. I had to email Dr. Daniel Huchital multiple times because Tito did not respond any email. TAKE HUCHITAL!!! Also, and most important, take advantage of the *TI sections* and *tutors* available!!!
His lectures are about 20 minutes long. He talks too fast and doesnt go into detail about solving problems. He doesnt respond to emails or any form of communication. His live lectures are going over hw. The tests almost never include what you learn from hw/lectures. The only reason to take this class is that you can basically pass on HW alone.
Good guy. Tests were pretty hard. Opened up homework at the end which was nice.
He's the only professor for Chem 2 but he sucks. Our final is completely fill in the blank, ignores emails regarding exams. I've emailed him 3 different times with different problems and he only responded to the ones about my absence or extra credit. Gave us 50 minutes for a 20 question test where most were multi-step calculations.
Tito is the only professor. My advice - get 100% on ALL THE HOMEWORK, complete ALL discussions and quizzes. Get a 100% on all assignments so that you can max your points in that area, The tests will be beyond difficult, if not impossible. He curves and opens up the homeworks, but I suggest getting the homework done every week with a 100%.
If you struggled in Chem 1, avoid taking this man.
I had this professor for chemistry in a discussion and lecture class. I wasn't the only one who was frequently confused. He also had a tendency to not respond to emails. However, he makes it easy to pass with several attempts on quizzes and homework that's all due all at once late in the semester. It's only "hard" because of the questions he gives.
I've never met Tito because he doesn't respond to emails. He only exists in prerecorded lectures that feature him talking so fast that I would often have to rewind 4 or 5 times per slide just go get all of the information. The class is hard, and the tests are almost impossible. He seems like a nice guy, but I don't recommend him for chem.
I loved this professor. His live lectures were soo helpful and he's more than happy to explain anything u need help with. He even does the hw sometimes during lecture so you can do it together which is great because some were pretty hard. The tests require a lot of studying but if u put in the work I think you'll be okay. He gives ec at the end!
He seems like a nice guy but he is very intimidating to ask for help from. He expects you to read the book, watch his recorded lectures, come to class, and do the assignments which is too much for any full time student to do for one class. His tests are super hard but he curved them. He is HORRIBLE at responding to emails! Do the HW to pass!
I basically learned chem 2 by myself this semester. I am super proud to say that you will pass his class if you give some form of effort. SI was okay, not a big fan. He speaks very fast so try to keep up. Curves homework and exams.
He seems nice and interested in chem but you're basically teaching yourself. Make sure to get 100% on all the hw cause it helps your grade. He curves all the exams and tests cause the majority of the class usually fails. I never got a B on any of my tests or exams but ended up with a B due to curves. Not an easy class but not impossible.
Chem 1 was very easy compared to chem 2. His exams were outrageous and he sucks at responding to emails from students. At one point ALL students emailed him about the final and he ignored EVERYONE. Extremely unprofessional but theres no way to avoid him since hes the only professor for this course. No wonder hes on probation.
Hes a great prof!! He does not proctor his exams and curves every exam. Hes such a happy and helpful teacher and will always help you with anything you need. I had him for chem 1 and got below a 70 on each exam and passed with a A-.
Prof. Sempertegui is a pretty good professor. He provides a lot of sample problems which are extremely useful. You can tell he is passionate about what he does. If you're having trouble with something, don't hesitate to go to his office hours. The class requires effort but you're learning a lot so that's expected. Overall, easy to succeed.
I hate this professor. He literally killed my freshman year. Every time I turned around there was something due and it took forever. The tests are literally the worst because of his time limits. Then he likes to add on extra questions at the end. Worst professor ever!
Very fast paced and easy to fall behind
Tito is very nice and caring... BUT! He is terrible at explaining things. English is his second language and I think he doesn't realize that what he is saying makes no sense. I had to youtube every new concept he mentioned in lecture. There is an absurd amount of homework and it will take up a good 4 hours every week to complete. The Labs harder.
He's a really nice and caring professor BUT he doesn't do a very good job at explaining the concepts in the course. He tries his best to explain, but it never makes sense and his exams are impossible to get good grades on no matter how long you study for them, that's why he curves them like crazy every time. Make sure to get 100% on every HW.
Very heavy class. Tests are not at all like the quizzes that he gives us in class time
He's one of my favorite professors I've ever taken. The class is hard which is why he has such a low rating here, but I've taken three years' worth of classes here and he is one of the best teachers. His lectures are easy to understand and you can tell he genuinely enjoys chemistry.
Tito's class was difficult. Test were not hard but not enough time on them. I suggest you sign up for SI .Literally the only reason why many students passed. Homework was long and extensive. He does curve test which helps you in the long run
I was worried going into college that chemistry would be impossible to pass, but with Tito he really does an excellent job of keeping you engaged during lectures. He takes complex topics and makes them very easy to understand. He is very understanding and kind! It requires a lot of work and focus, but if you put time in you will do well!
Worst professor Ive taken thus far at FAU. Classes are hard enough online, and this man lectured for only an hour and 20 minutes a week and that was hardly enough for the rigor of the homework alone. He breezed through concepts and gave hardly any mathematical examples in his lectures and this class is almost all math. DONT TAKE HIM
Absolutely terrible for chem 2. Chem 1 was fine for me only cause the class was ran with another chem professor, but only Tito teaches chem 2 which should not be in his hands!
I wouldnt wish Tito on my worst enemy for chem 2. His exams are hard and the homework and lessons that we are given dont even help us. Everything is conceptualized so if you have a different learning style then youre in big trouble. The homework takes hours to complete and if you bring up an issue with him hell laugh about it on zoom.
Doesnt give enough time on tests and the whole class failed every test. When we brought it up in class, he laughed and made the tests even more difficult. Doesnt care about students.
Chem 1 is an easy A but Chem 2 with him is the worst experience in my 3 years of college. He wants you to fail and I truly believe that based on how his tests are made. The SI sessions were necessary to even follow what we were doing in class and the SI leader was a way better teacher than he ever was. Take this class elsewhere if you can.
Absolutely horrible. He does not know what he is doing. On pre-recorded lecture you often see him looking to the side as if he is copying from something. Test have nothing to do with what we learned. You can tell he does not care about the subject and is not compassionate towards his students. Do not take this class with him!
For chem 1, take whatever other professor is available. For chem 2, PLEASE, for your own good, do not take this class at FAU. He is the only professor available for chem 2 and he loves taking advantage of that. His tests are extremely difficult and unfair with timing. I heard he was on probation for failing too many students which I believe is true
If you value your mental health and GPA, do not take this man's course. I honestly believe he wants you to fail. Only gives you a study guide after each chapter, none for his tests. And the chapter guides do not help AT ALL for his tests. He might as well not even give them out. Truly the worst professor I have ever taken. Hmwrk takes 3 hrs minimu
Unless youre willing to give up A LOT of time to study and love science, you wont do well. This teacher is known for his tough exams in veryyy minimal time and class averages are commonly below a C. Since they are so low he curves heavy, the only pro Ill give him. This is my first review for any teacher but I decided I had to warn yall about him
This class isnt that bad, as long as you do the home work and study youll do fine. The work is really tuff and his tests arent easy but he does curve all his tests. If you do all the homework and quizzes and you study youll do fine.
There's a lot of Homework in the class but he's and overall good professor. He always helped whenever I asked questions during lecture and his office hours were available too. The discussion with the course made the lecture easier to understand, and the tests were for the most part open notes.
Do not take this professor if you arent prepared to study for an extra couple of hours every night in order to understand the concepts. He lectured for only one hour per week, and the rest was on our own. The homework took me about 2-3 hours per assignment (there were 14 so dont procrastinate). Tests are extremely difficult. No extra credit.
I believe that Tito's as a professor isn't bad. However, the way he teaches can be confusing, and hard to follow. I had to rely a lot on outside sources to pass. He does curve the tests a lot, and re-opens the homework's for you to re-do. This is probably the only reason I got a B.
do NOT listen to the people saying he's a good professor. despite having easy classes along with this class, I barely passed. the midterm average was around a 30%, and he doesn't curve much. doesn't care about his students, lectures are useless and boring, and SO MUCH HOMEWORK. I spent 50+ hours on the hw throughout the semester (they take forever)
The class itself required a lot of time to be dedicated to studying important concepts and solving practice problems. Professor Tito allowed the whole semester to turn in any homework assignment and spent multiple occasions completing and explaining practice problems with students.
Hes a pretty good professor. I felt that he explained things well. Make sure you have a solid chem background if you want to do this in 6 weeks bc its a lot of hw and very fast. Exams were pretty straight forward, and hw was usually harder than exams. Make sure you study every day and ask him questions bc he makes himself available. Study hard!
Tito is kind and willing to extend and change homework dates when necessary. The class is hard but the homework, lecture sides, and SI outline every that you need to know. The homework takes longer than you think so don't procrastinate. the test are tricky and he doesn't really give enough time but every test is curved.
Seems like he enjoys what he teaches... but he cant teach. The homework is insanely difficult and he wont help you if you email him. He is the only teacher available for Chem 2 which is ridiculous and if your planning on taking him over the summer then good luck, you will need it.
While he is a nice guy, he cannot teach. He seriously sat there and said that you had to teach yourself. I tried taking his class over the summer but it seemed unorganized and like he didn't care to help. I have a 4.0 and over 50 credits so I do well in school, but he is just not a good professor.
He's a good professor who spends time going over what will be on exams and any concepts that students are struggling with. There is a lot of homework and it can be hard but, he made it extra credit. Also exams are nothing compared to the homework. Overall, good professor and if you put in some work, you'll do fine in the class.
Tito is a kind professor and you can tell he really cares about what he teaches, but the way that he taught didn't help me understand the material at all. The only way for me to truly understand the material was to watch YouTube videos. If you miss class consistently, you will fail the class because he doesn't post his power points.
Don't trust any reviews stating that this is a good Professor. He expects you to have a doctoral-level understanding of chm 2 like him. He boasted that his exams took him 20 mins to do and blamed us for not being able to do them in that time. The class average was always 50 and he laughed when we failed. Only SI, practicing hw, and curves passed me
heavy accent, large class, goes through slides very quickly, he's nice, but he kind of expected us to know everything already... he doesn't explain in detail when going over examples.
did not like him at all
A couple things to note: 1. Uses Iclicker and that's how he takes attendance 2. textbook required? Cengage unlimited. The homework is on a different part of Cengage, but it's there. - USUALLY, the homework are short, but watch out for unit 2, there is one with a lot of questions 3. in lecture, he goes fast, so get ready to take pics of the slide.
hes nice but he goes super fast + has an accent which isnt his fault but it gets really hard to keep up
This class is definitely challenging and in order to pass you must put in the work and time. You need to do the homework, quizzes, attend class and what really helped me push through the class was attending the SI sessions and getting tutored. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. Put in the time and effort and you should pass.
yea just no. i taught myself everything. no clue how i ended up with a B. I am now a believer of manifestation.
Professor Sempertegui is absolutely amazing! Attend lectures. Take notes, form a study group. SI Sessions!! Chem is difficult, but he really does try his best to help the students understand. Don't procrastinate, study for his exams. Complete hw, take advantage of extra credit quizzes. Chem lab helps a lot too, since its more practice problems.
Professor Tito was a great professor who made this class very easy to understand. There are clear rubrics for the tests and there is almost 20% of your grade in extra credit, which makes it very difficult to struggle in this course.
Your going to have to teach yourself chemistry 2. He's the only teacher at Fau for chem 2 as well. Good luck!!!
he is a nice guy, but you have to teach yourself everything and it is very difficult. Also goes very fast and is kind of unorganized
Dr. Tito genuinely cares about his students. I took him for Chem 1 and 2 honors and greatly succeeded in his class. He always helps you to understand the content and keeps lectures fun and engaging. I truly wish I could have him for organic chem as well. He answers emails and is loose on deadlines as long as you ask.
Sweet guy but can not teach this class for his life. I learned absolutely nothing from class the only reason I passed this class with an A was because of the giant curve he gave.
Dr. Tito is an amazing professor. He makes sure to teach difficult concepts in a way that everyone will understand, even repeating things if he feels the concept flew over everyone's heads. He always wants to make sure everyone understands before moving on. There is a lot of homework, but he is very lenient with extensions and due dates.
He talks VERY fast and has a slight accent, but he is real. He will tell you what's on the exam and doesn't really play around. We used cengage for homework and he opened it at the end for a chance for people who missed it. GO TO SI's they seriously help. 3 exams total and final worth a lot, it curved my grade 12 points and I got a 70 on it.
he cares & tries to help students learn the material but approaches it wrong. classes are focused on group work solving practice problems, but you have to watch the lectures at home & do the weekly discussion post & homework. he didnt curve anything this semester. also he expects you to know the material when coming to class and talks really fast
Please avoid this guy....unfortunately he is the only professor that teaches Chem 2 at FAU.... so maybe take the class elsewhere honestly.. avoid the stress and aggravation this man will cause you. 4 Exams each are 5% towards your grade and then best for last the final.. a whopping 20% of your grade.
The thing about Titto is that he is good at chemistry, but not good at teaching it. The best advice I can give you for passing the class is to try to do everything with 100% as this should combat the exam grades. Plus, this is the only chm 2 professors in fau so there's no other choice.
Im not gonna lie and say this was a chill class but it does take a lot time. The good thing about this class is that tests dont affect your grade until the final exam. theres weekly homework(discussions, quizzes, cengage) and lectures are mandatory if you care about that portion of your grade. I personally liked the lectures but everyone is diff.
I took summer format class. This class is very difficult as all material is crammed into 6 weeks instead of normal 16 weeks and taught at a fast pace but if you study, it can be passed. 9 cengage homeworks, 11 packbacks (essay question and response) several quizzes, 4 tests and final. Attend lectures, memorize info and watch videos. Great class!
I took Dr. Sempertegui's CHM 2046 class in the Spring of 2019 and received an A. General Chemistry 2 is a challenging course at any university. Dr. Sempertegui teaches clearly and explains concepts without alot of extra fluff that convolutes understanding of lecture material. People rating him poorly just did minimum work to scrape by.
Amazing professor dont listen to the bad reviews. His class is hard because its chem but he does everything he can to support his students through it
Reading all of the previous negative reviews, I can't see any of the problems that were brought up. I had him for Chem 1 for an 8am, and never once did the professor show up without being enthusiastic and energetic. He gives a very reasonable amount of homework, only takes about 30 minutes to an hour each week. The exams are curved.
Tito is an amazing teacher! His accent may be difficult for some people but he is very approachable. Textbook isn't required but it helped me a lot when taken with the lectures. Couldn't ask for a better professor.
Great teacher, will help you if you need it out of class, moves fast in lecture so make sure to ask your questions!
i had dr tito for both chem 1&2 honors. as someone who struggled with chem in high school, he is by far the most amazing chem professor ever. his overall energy is really positive. you have to stay the whole lecture if u want to learn (and his lectures are fun!). reading the textbook before class & asking questions in class is highly recommended.
Tito was an ok professor. His group discussions helped a lot when trying to learn material. Extra credit helped my grade too.
The class was difficult, I used tutoring to pass.. Tito is very very energetic and excited about the subject so he moved REALLY fast and sometimes its hard to keep up. I gave up taking notes in class, just pictures then take notes after class.
He is a very energetic and perky professor and always has a smile. The class isn't hard as long as you practice.
Great professor. Really cares
exams were awful and extremely hard. u have to teach urself the entire material. professors handwriting is horrid u can't read it for the life of u. attendance is mandatory for points and ur grade will drop a lot if u miss one class, he expects u to come no matter what even when there was a literal flooding emergency one day. traumatizing class!
Exam is cumulative and worth 20 percent of your grade. Class is really difficult, as I didn't get above a D on every exam until the last 2. Attendance is mandatory and worth 19 percent of your grade. On the bright side, Tito is really energetic and keeps everything moving throughout lecture. Hardest class I've taken yet!!!!!!
Overall good professor, tells you exactly whats on the exams and answers students questions during lectures but it is not an easy course and sometimes he expects you to know everything already. he doesn't answer emails most of the time. he loves chemistry so he's engaging in lecture, just study study study for this class, no extra credit
Not a fan of his iclicker questions and team activities but ok. terrible handwriting, his videos are not organized according to the workbook, sometimes confusing to understand, lots of annoying side work like discussions and hw, tests are basically iclicker questions and straightforward, he curves, nice personality
Dr.Tito is very caring and mindful if you need assignment extensions. Homework assignments take some time; make sure you start them a week in advance. His lectures are very helpful and give practice problems at the end of every chapter, tests are fair. He does not always answer his emails so go to office hours instead they are super helpful.
Not a great professor, as his handwriting is really bad and he teaches mainly through videos with poor audio that don't really cover all the material. However, the curves in this class are INSANE (he says there aren't any but trust me, there very much are for the sake of his paycheck lmao).
Judged by your ability to quickly bs material instead of truly understand it due to the overwhelming amount of mind numbing busywork he assigns. Spent almost 2 full hours doing questions literally copy and pasted 50 times in a row with "Write the complete electron config. for *insert element*" That is not how a student is supposed to learn.
Currently have an A in his class, and would not have been able to get far without his office hours. Chem is hard, so take advantage of his office hours, and he'll simplify concepts WAY more than in class. 1-2 homework weekly and 1-2 quizzes weekly. The tests (x4) are important but count little towards the final grade (except the final exam).
Tito was ok, he wasn't bad or great. Thought his lectures were so boring and he would literally ramble for the entire class. Quizzes once a week at least in his honors course and plenty and busy work. Makes you buy access codes to two different sites to do your HW so that was fun. Learned nothing.
Very confusing. Fails many students. Says students need to study for 10+ hours weekly just for his class in order to succeed. Overall VERY difficult.
One of those classes that requires you to respond to 2 other students on a mundane discussion post subject that devolves into everyone wasting time conforming to his standards instead of focusing on the course material. You will lose points with no reason, even if you show full information retention and comprehension on the module lectures.
The first exam was bad but the other ones were easy as long as you keep practicing. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He will reexplain anything to you. He's really nice.
If he is having a bad day, prepare for your grade to suffer. You will receive points off with a half ass excuse for why that does not follow the rubric. Then you will have to waste more of your time defending the work (that is correct) instead of spending it on the immense amount of busywork assignments that is due at the end of every week. AVOID
Tito is definitely not my favorite professor but at the end of the day he does a lot to make sure you pass. I took his honors section and he did give a lot of HW but it helped keep my grade up when I didn't do great on exams. Not test heavy at all, only had small quizzes and the midterm and final. He will reopen Hw and finds ways to boost your grad
Professor Tito was great! He did his best to make lectures interesting despite being at 8am and is clearly passionate about the subject. Assignments and quizzes every week which can be time consuming but they're not too difficult. Make sure to attend SI sessions if you want to pass the exams though.
Class sections were used for lectures, monday night sections were used for tests. Awesome professor and class, would 100% take again. Great intro to chemistry!!!
The structure of this course was different than what normal courses follow. Be ready to show up to lecture prepared and do examples in class. Dr. Tito is amazing, in my opinion, and there are plenty of resources available to help!
Tito knows the material like the back of his hand. You can ask him anything and he will break it down to you with no problem. His lectures carry a lot of information, so be prepared to inhale a lot of info all at once. His class is simple if you do the work and apply yourself. He is a great professor and would take him again 100%.
I thought I'd fail this class but ended up loving it. Just make sure to go to office hours (trust me), SI, and study with friends. It's not bad as long as you keep practicing. It gets easy after exams 1 and 2.
I love how Dr. Tito was very respectful and communicative throughout the entire course! I have taken him for two semesters and I love how he teaches in great detail. The discussions and homeworks were due at 5pm and 8pm. A lot of work, but he is a good professor. Definitely go to his office hours since he gave us tips that really helped.
hw + discussion post + quiz ev week. Posted vid lectures and then did problems in actual class which I didn't like too much but whatevs. he puts lots of curves on exams, and even if u do bad on some of the exams ur grade wont be so affected bc it is v well distributed. overall nice prof
Great professor for chemistry! If you can, take him for both gc1/2. For gc2, at the beginning of the semester, you're assigned a group; you mainly just sit together and answer discussion posts separately, no real 'teamwork' required. Learn the material at home and answer iClickers in class; I recommend taking notes on the textbook though.
Take him for chemistry 1 NOT CHEMISTRY 2. The other female professor is your best bet. Dont suffer like I did.
100% would recommend him for chem 1 and 2. truly cared about students and was a great teacher who can convey everything clearly. the only downside is that his class is a lot of work, but it does help with understanding the concept, for the most part. Wish he taught more chemistry classes, would take him again without a doubt.
Professor Tito is a great person who wants us to pass. This course is mainly reading and working on problems. Always study before class to gain a better understanding of the materials. Learn how to solve the iclicker and quizzes questions as it would be on the exams. The organic chemistry tutor on YouTube is helpful when reviewing for exams.
Professor Tito uploads lectures before class which you should study before class to gain a better understanding of the materials. The iclicker and quizzes questions are shown on the exams. The SI unit reviews help for the exams. This course requires lots of reading and solving problems. Since it's workload heavy, TURN YOUR ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME!!
Best professor I have ever taken! He does example problems in class that are similar to the ones on his exams. He posts videos before the lecture so you have an understanding of the topic beforehand and he does problems in class. Amazing professor. Office hours are very helpful.
Professor Tito's class can be challenging, but engaging with the resources like the textbook, office hours, and SI sessions really helps. The quizzes and exams are manageable if you stay on top of the material. Unstuckstudy AI was a great study tool alongside other prep.
I took him for Gen Chem 1 Honors we had about 35 people. The homeworks are long and he lectures very fast, but if you do well on the extra assignments you will do fine. For the honors class the only tests we had were the midterm and final, so the extra assignments really help your grade.
You either love or hate him. The work load is extremely heavy, with assignments being due every other day pretty much and we have exams quite often. I'll be so honest, his lectures are useless. I've learned everything from my lab or from the program he uses for homework called ALEKS. He also requires a textbook that you will never actually use.
Dr. Tito is very nice and understanding. He wants you to succeed. The issue is it's VERY difficult to understand his way of teaching. He goes very fast and we receive like no context to what we're learning. I walked out of almost every class feeling lost. MUST revise the content in your free time! Practice, practice, practice!! You can get an A.
Only take him if you love chemistry like he does. Beware of misleading due dates. He has discussions listed on rubric as due on Sundays, but out of nowhere TA's will explain that it's actually due 2 days prior and your responses to other classmates is what's due on Sundays. You'll end up finding this out the hard way when you lose points like me.
He doesn't throughly explain or go through his examples well. He does not give enough time when you take the semester exams and the questions are more difficult than what he lectures/shows. He has group discussions and sometimes is not clear. He does not post the slides that he lectures. HW is long, youtube is more helpful than teacher
Unrealistic teacher, expects you to memorize everything he "teaches" but does not teach properly. Lectures fast with barley any context or further explanations.
Dr. Tito was definitely intimidating to take as a professor for one of my first ever college classes. However, chemistry as a subject overall is intimidating, but, can actually be fun. I really liked Dr. Tito's lectures as he's very fun and silly but still teaches well and tells you exactly what will be on the test.
Professor Sempertegui's lectures werent good. They didn't help with understanding the homework. And the homework is a lot but thats expected with a chemistry class. The textbook was great though, I highly recommend reading it! There were group discussions that just felt like busy work and didnt have a clear due date for some reason.
I really enjoyed this class. For Chem 1, he gives good lectures, and he is very engaging. Iclicker questions almost every class, so come to class. In class, he lectures sometimes slow and sometimes fast, it is kind of annoying. He also points out things that will be on exams. Exams are pretty easy, just study lecture notes and use the homework!
Awesome professor! Course can be hard at times but he is super kind and his lectures are amazing. Gives really good examples and explanations. Tutoring center helps a lot. Weekly assignments and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory as it is graded by answering questions in class. 6 tests: 4 exams, a midterm, and a final exam. Be sure to take him!!
the test are nothing like the notes
Tito. the. goat. Inspired me to pursue a chem degree and go the grad school route instead of pre-med.
I am currently taking Tito again for CHM2046, and he is a pretty straight forward professor. Read your book, do your homework, do the SI worksheets, and go to class. The iclicker grade he gives you will actually tank your grade if you do not attend lectures. Easy A if you actually put effort in.
We do iclicker questions with an assigned group and have a learning assistant to come and help every class. Although you have to watch the lectures prior to showing up to class. He asks us if we want the questions in class to be on the exam but he tends to choose questions we barely cover and are not like the iclicker questions. SI w/lola is good!
His honors chem class is really easy to get an A as long as you show up to class and do all of the homework. Only tests are the midterm and final, which are pretty tough but homework isn't bad.
This is basically a teach-yourself course. Lectures outside of class, iClicker questions in class that are never the same as the last and also rarely ever used on the test. The homework is the test, so practice it! Avoid this class if you can, this is an unforgiving setup if you do not have the time to do 20+ hours of additional work out of class.
I see a lot of mixed reviews about Tito. He is so entertaining, cares about the students, and know his material. Chem 2 is not easy so ofc its hard but he shows the effort and is understanding. LECTURES ARE MANDATORY, iclickers and worksheets in class with groups. If you paid attention, studied his material, you'll be fine!
Dr.Tito is very sweet and LOVES chemistry, but he expects you to also be a professor. His teaching style may work for others but definitely not for me, soo fast and there is literally no context to his teaching. Taught myself everything. If you LOVEEE chemistry this class will be understandable with his teaching method also I took honors for 1& 2.
He is very sweet and genuinely wants you to do well, but I don't think there was one time I walked out of class and understood what was being taught. His teaching style did not work for me, and I had to teach myself a lot of the content. Just keep practicing.
Dr. Tito is caring, but teaching isn't for him. From day one, it was a “teach yourself” class lectures were online and we had to study 7+ hours daily. In-person 8 AM classes were just iClicker questions, never on the test. He'd walk around saying “you need to be writing” how about some teaching instead? Also he doesn't curve his exams, so goodluck.
I liked the LA system incorporation and the study guides for the exam. I also appreciate Dr.Tito's positive and energetic attitude. This class covered all topics intended, however, his explanations were not enough and sometimes he would go fast on the question problems with little time to get to the answer. Be prepared to complete complicated HW.
Cengage might've been the bi
Dr. Tito is the GOAT of the chem department. The man is genuinely passionate about what he teaches and he knows the subject very well. He is also very passionate about his students success and will help you out with class/career stuff if you go to his office hours (he got me an internship and built my class schedule for all 4 years).
Dr. Tito is the best professor I've had. I was in the honors section for chem 1 and 2- best decision I've made. He genuinely cares for you and wants you to do well. It's not a walk in the park, but pay attention in class, take notes, do the homework, and you'll be fine. Challenging, but I got SO much out of the course! Don't be afraid!!!
Took honors section. I agree, Tito is not the easiest to understand from, but the only reason I stuck with him and the honors section is because he truly cares and wants you to succeed. He is extremely knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about chemistry. Take the time to learn on your own, and do a lot of practice! He is always willing to help.
I love this man. I am not the smartest student and find it hard to focus and get motivated for school but he is so caring and really cares about u understanding. I took his 8am lecture and It was really engaging and he has so many teacher assistants to help you understand and help out with the clicker questions. I 1000% recommend him!!!
Dr. Tito is incredibly kind and genuinely wants you to do well. That said, I really struggled to understand his teaching. The lectures were fast and often confusing, and I wish he had given more examples. Even so, his patience and support honestly made up for a lot. Chem 2 is hard, 100x worse than Chem 1. Keep practicing. You will make it.
Dr. Tito's very sweet, but lectures had entropy through the roof, and every exam was an exothermic meltdown.
Took the honors section. Amazing professor but I didn't like the way the course was set up. First, essays/ packbacks = busy work. They were the extra work to make this class look like an honors. I wish this class had a workbook like regular chem. Questions on the midterm were phrased horribly. Some topics in Gen Chem 2 were left out in the honors.
He is alright, His lectures are fast, and I struggled to understand some things in that moment. If you teach yourself via youtube it will go smoothly, tests weren't difficult. The extra credit he put in for the midterm and final as well as the iclicker saved my grade. I never did well on the exams and got a 37 on the midterm, but ended with a B.
The teaching came solely off of the slides he presents in class. There were supplemental videos for if you are struggling with a concept. The exams were just hard but the curves were always there to help, generally at least 10%. Connect HW is simple and can be done with enough attempts. The i-clickers improve grade and tests not worth much. DO HW!
Very hard class. He barely lectures compared to 2045 and its almost all iclicker. I liked 2045, he lectured well and it was understandable. 2046 is so much harder and more confusing
horrible, does not respond to emails. is not a good teacher. seems like a nice guy outside of school but does not need to be teaching. tests are 50% of your grade and not multiple choice. I tried to withdraw and he never answered. Ruined my gpa for sure and if I could go back in time I would.
I took Tito for Chem 1, but his Chem 2 class is 10x harder. Lectures are literally all iClicker, and he provides video lectures to watch before class (videos are so hard to understand). LAs helped during the lecture, but honestly, I just had to pray during the exams. Just study and pray. A little disappointed after taking his Chem 1 class though :(
He's a great professor and the clickers made class fun and interactive. You'll need to do a lot of studying on your own, so go over the iClicker questions (they help a lot for the tests). Do your HW. After taking Chem 2, Chem 1 is definitely way easier.
Tito is a really nice professor, took him for Gen chem 1 and 2, and he was amazing for teaching an introduction into general chemistry, def 10/10 teacher.
Awesome teacher. Chem 2 was way easier than Chem 1. Coming to class and doing ICLICKERS matters a lot; it is very helpful for studying (keep a doc of all). The LA's make it easier, don't be afraid to ask them. Group assignments are okay. He is hilarious and energetic, which is what you need for learning chem at 8 am tbh.
