Cool professor; very easy going and really wants you to succeed. Make sure you follow the instructions for his assignments.

Mr. Lane is an excellent professor. He is very friendly and uses a lot of visual aids to teach. I like how he teaches because he is very organized. He makes psychology fun. He challenges you to think and discuss the topic in class.

Professor Lane is probably one of the coolest professors I have taken at NOVA. He is very down to earth, very friendly, and wants the class to be able to apply psychology to everyday life. This guy is really passionate and motivating. His tests questions can be tricky but as long as you read the book and come to class you will do fine.

I thought I would hate taking a class at Reston since I heard a lot of classes there are taught for adults. Most of my class was my age (18-20) and I really enjoyed the class. Mr. Lane is high energy and very knowledgable about psychology. He values input from the class and loves his students. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!

Great, great, great!!! Absolutely fair and very helpful. I'm taking him at the Reston campus and so far I have really been enjoying the class. He is very clear and really makes sure you understand the concepts. A+ teacher!

I must admit that I hate that the class is at night but I like him as an instructor. He is very organize, almost anal but very down to earth. He is very respectful to everyone and definitely makes the boring topics intersting. I would defintiely take him again for intro again if I had to.

He is a excellent teacher!!! A+++++ The class is not too hard or really easy. It is really important to keep up with the readings and come to class so that you can get the notes from the powerpoint. He does not give out the powerpoint slides. He gives a study guide. Follow it closely and you will do good.

I took him for his SDV 100 class. Mr. Lane is very very good and really cares about you as a student. The best thing I learned in his class is that students have rights and that teachers can't treat student anyway they want. I love his teaching because he is very energetic and funny!!!! I want to take his psychology class this semester.

Awesome teacher. Likes a lot of class participation and putting students into groups to form conversation. Overall, I like the class although I didn't do my best. Make sure that you follow the power points closely because he doesn't give them to you.

I did ooookay in the class but could have done better if i did the online quizzes. There are three online quizzes that you get one submission for. The quizzes are not easy but you do get to use your book. They are really helpful at preparing for the exam. Definitely use the study guide prepare for the exam. Good teacher.

I really wish that he taught 202 this semester. I took him for 201 and really enjoyed his teaching style. My teacher now is very boring and constantly off topic. Mr. Lane applies psychology concepts to everyday life my new teacher does not. If you read this Mr. Lane, please teach 202 and do us all a favor.

I just finished his class. I agree with most of the posts. Very nice person but his test are a little hard but fair. You have to understand the concepts. The study guides help but I agree that the in class meetings are most important. Come to class and listen and you will be okay.

I didn't like the text but he does a good job explaining material in class. The text is a e-book. Also, you have to use an online portal for quizzes. His study guides help to prepare for exam. Some in class group work but all group work was interesting. Overall good teach. You have to get him slow down sometimes.

This is one of my favorite classes. There are mini weekly assignments and three exams. Professor Titus is very entertaining and tells good stories. You will definitely not leave his class without laughing at least one time. He has a lot of energy and clearly loves talking about psychology. This is a very interesting class.

I was thinking SDV would be a joke but Mr. Lanes class really help me a lot. The assignment teach you useful skills. I would definitely take him if you have to take SDV. I heard the other classes are just busy work.

I loved this class. It was definitely worth traveling to Reston form. This class is far from boring and very fun. This professor is very organized and I love how he sets up his weekly tasks on Blackboard. Everything he goes over in class you can get online. Awesome teacher and excellent class. Two thumbs up :)

OMG the post before is right. His Blackboard is far from AMAZING!!! It saved me this semester. He is very organized and posts the activities and information covered in class. When I missed class I could easily get the information. Don't get me wrong the class is far from easy but he gives you all the stuff to do good.

Best teacher I've ever had

I took Mr. Lane this summer and the class was really good. He goes over a lot of information but helps you understand the material by putting you into groups. He switches the class up with in class activities, movies, and class discussion. The tests are not bad but plan to study because they are not easy. I would definitely take him again.

What a great teacher! The class is not boring since there is group work and interesting lecture. You will participate in class but nothing tough. His first test is a doozy. You have to understand the material in order to do well on his exams. You can not ease by in the class. You have to study but it's all worth it since it is such a fun class!

I like his style of teaching. He allows for discussion and really wants you to learn. He has lecture refreshers that prepare you for the exam and really challenge you to know the material. The lecture refreshers are before each exam. You really do have to study for the exams but he prepares you really well before taking them. He's really good!

Mr. Lane is a cool guy. You have to come to class to do well in this class. He gives lecture refreshers that help you prepare for the exam. The homework can be difficult but you can repeat the homework assignment until you get a perfect score. My advice is don't wait until the last minute to do them! The test are not bad just use the study guide

Exciting lecturer. I am an IT major and never thought that I would like Psychology so much. The class helped me a lot to take test better since he ask questions in a different way.

He tells you how it is and what to expect from day one. Read the textbook and apply yourself to the class and you'll be fine. I drove from Ashburn to Reston because of the hype from these comments. He was not AMAZING but definitely a solid choice. 3 Lecture refreshers, no exam, all can be taken at home with open notes but you do need to apply info.

Honestly cares about you learning the class. He rewords the textbook into terms that can be understood in a different context, so you can actually learn and not just memorize the material. I'd definitely take this class again.

I am in his hybrid course. He is clear and easy to follow. I was worried about taking a hybrid but he is such a good teacher the class was not bad at all to learn everything. There is a mini assignment ever week, two projects, and three tests. Fun class.

I really liked Professor Lane; he explained the material well and made sure everyone followed along with the lecture. The hw definitely helps you understand the concepts (powerpoint with mini quiz). The exams were not easy, however, the exams were online so it was open book; and he offers a study guide.

Prof Lane is one of the professors that you can tell is really passionate about their subject. He really made the class fun because you could tell he loves talking about psychology. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and the tests are open book open note from home making it super easy to pass if you put in the work.

Excellent teacher! You will learn. There were three exams. You MUST study to pass. He provides clear outcomes that you study to pass. He expects you to learn concepts not definitions. I take him at Mason for my Social Psych class. All is true. Great professor and definitely worth taking. He has a very likable personality and his teaching style is easy to follow.

I took his online course at P&HCC. This is one of the most organized online courses I have taken, which is saying a lot because they are usually all over the place. Coming from an adult, he is on it with responding to questions and engaging with the class. He is very serious about deadlines but easy to follow and ORGANIZED! Seems like a nice person

Few posts mention open book exams. He did not give open book exams. At least not my class. All exams were closed book and pretty tough. He writes them. Study his outcomes topics in announcements. They basically prepare you for the tests. Take the mini quizzes serious too and read feedback it will save you a lot of time when studying.

The hybrid is a little tougher I think. Some of the work you have to do is on your own. My brother took him 100% in person and loved the class. I took the hybrid and enjoyed it. I like his teaching style and personality. I would suggest taking him virtually if you don't mind learning some one your own. He has video recordings that are helpful.

He is a good mix of online and in person. A very interesting class. Definitely learned a lot. Everything you need you can find in canvas.

This class is not hard. If you do bad you litterally don't study or do any of the practice work he posts. He is a good teacher. He gives so much feedback and explains concepts good.

I just finished the hybrid. Best advice don't mistake kindness for weakness. He is very nice but very serious about you learning and the work. Do all practice. If you want an easy A this ain't it. This is a real college class I actually learned a lot.

This is a good teacher hands down. He only teaches at night which sucks if you want to take something else of his.

Professor Lane is by far the best teacher I've had in NOVA! I took the hybrid course, the lectures are YT videos( between 3-10 min ea.) and you go class to review and ask questions. 1-2 quizzes/lecture refreshers a week and offers extra credit for exams. He gives really good examples and the study guides really help you understand the material :)

Ok here is the deal. There are three exams and mini assignments in this class. He literally overly prepares you for each exam and provides so many resources it's impossible not to pass unless you dont care. It's a principles course so there is a lot to learn. Great teacher very approachable!

This class was perfect since it was a hybrid which means 50% live in-person and 50% not live online. I would not recommend taking this format if you can't handle keeping up with the work partly on your own. Great class overall. Wish he taught more topics. I would take him again for sure.

Dr. Lane is a really good professor. I took his college skills course and plan to take him for psychology. I have only heard good things the psych course and look forward to learning about mmore.

I took it Hybrid 7 week. Pretty easy. Just lecture heavy. Notes are all videos of his own slides, which is REALLY good. He knows what he's talking about. One or two assignments a week. Exams are easy if you STUDY. study guides are VERY SIMILAR. So is the practice exam. Very understanding, and gives minimum days of being absent. TAKE HIM!

if you let him talk he will definitely talk lol -- he welcomes class participation -- very interesting class and one of the better professors to take for psychology -- if you want to pass you got to study there is no way around it-- learning is supplemented with videos -- i would have enjoyed taking him in person even though virtual was nice

You can just tell Dr. Lane is good person on day one; I got a sense that he actually likes his students and genuinely wanted to get to know us. Great class and the work was not hard but you do have to study. Do the practice work, all assignments, and you will be fine. Guarantee you will enjoy the class. Apparently he teaches business to.

This is the first class I feel like I learned all of the concepts. There is a combination of small assignments and 3 exams. The class is structured in a way that you will learn if you try. The professor is organized and you can tell puts a lot of time into the course. Practice work and lecture videos are key! DR. T is awesome.

It was refreshing to have an authentic professor. Not stuffy at all and treats you like an actual human. Trust what he says on day my grade suffered because I could have spent more time on the work.
