no homework that is graded. so just make sure you study the notes and be ready for homework tests. tests are a combination of homework tests. overall pretty easy class.
Professor Wong is incredibly awesome and his class is incredibly easy. Quizes are extra credit and he gives you a take home practice test which is almost identical to the real one. If you want an easy math class, take this one.
He has a HEAVY accent which makes understanding extremely challenging. When asked to explain or speak clearly, he says transfer out if you can't keep up. If we hadn't helped each other, several of us wouldn't have survived. I understand online he is helpful. I wouldn't take him again if I have a choice.
This was a very easy finite math class. If you know anything about math at all, then you should be able to pass his class with ease. He only gives three tests and the homework was optional. The tests are in person. I took it online, and I got a 100, a 95, and a 99 and he said I was one of the best students ever. If you have to, take with Wong.
Be prepared to listen through a thick yet not entirely unpleasant Asian accent ^^ Wong is very endearing and hysterically funny, at least to me. He knows what he's doing, and is very good at explaining everything; just watch out for the way he says, "Circle!" ...I love you Dr. Wong!!
dr.wong is very very good and teaching, he is a little hard to understand at first but you get accustom to it. he really helps you understand difficult concepts and has a very good teaching mann er he doesn't move ont to another topic unless the class is understanding the material. he also doesn't give a final and his qizzes are open book.
Took this class ONLINE. Posts lecture notes online ~ very good notes. Quick responses to students, very helpful, three tests (all @ the Henderson campus). Definitely recommend if you can stay disciplined to do the homework every week b/c you don't turn it in for a grade.
he is the best math teacher and he is always there to help his students.
PROF. WONG IS A GOOD TEACHER. I TOOK THE CLASS ONLINE AND HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND RESPONSIVE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE ONLINE CLASS IS THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE ALL THE TEST AT THE HENDERSON CAMPUS.
Was a very good teacher. Has an accent but makes an effort to speak very clearly. Gives good notes. Doesn't move too fast. Do the homework even though it isn't mandatory and you should do good in the class.
I took Finite Math online and did ok in the class. Just make sure you DON'T get behind and do all your weekly assignments (there not graded though). Tests are definitely based off of the weekly assignments. Make sure to keep up!! You have to go to the Henderson campus for 3 tests. I never talked to him but he seemed nice during the test.
He is one of the best math teachers i have ever had. He gives great notes, moves at a steady pace, answers any questions you have, and he gives you every opportunity to do well in the class. He gives you 3 tests and if you want to you can retake any of the tests at the end of the semester!!
Dr. Wong was a great professor, gives many examples, his accent is easy to get past
He goes a little fast, but asks if anyone has any questions all the time. The best way to take his class is to look through the book ahead time to get a feel for what he is going to teach. The class is very hard if you have no idea what he is lecturing about. Gotta do the homework. PS His accent took me 15 min. to get over it.
He's difficult to understand and sometimes can be hard to learn the material. Homework isn't mandatory but highly suggested since your grade is based on your test. Okay professor but not the best.
Material on tests is not what appears on tests. He let the class fall behind schedual and had to cover a whole chapter in 2 class periods. Worst math teacher I have ever had.
This is the worst math teacher I have ever had and that is coming from someone who LOVES math and is in school to be a math teacher. He was hard to understand and when going over a homework assignment he put the problem up on the board, said "there are a few not important steps" (or something like that) and then gave the answer.
Dr. Wong is an intelligent man and a great math teacher. Although the material is difficult, he is there to clarify when the going gets tough. I took this class on-line and walked away with a near 100% in the class. I recommend him to anyone who is interested in applying themselves and earning their grade.
Not really bothered by the accent, takes about 5 min. to get used to. Does a very good job giving notes and letting you know why everything works the way it does. The homework is not required, but he does give problems from the book to practice. I did book problems until I felt I understood the content. Enjoyed class very much. Moves fast!
Overall, Good professor. Make sure you do the homework even though it dosn't count towards your grade. He gives you a pretest so you can study and the questions are the exact same with just the number switched and the tests are easy.
I took Dr. Wong 2 semesters and loved him! DO THE HW! No cumulative tests, no final, flexible, funny, good notes (online), open book quizzes (in person), will mail your tests to you (online), easy to find in office hours. In person (math 124) I found it hard to follow him at first, but stick with it and you'll do fine. ROCKS!!!
Not my favorite. Nt by a long shot. He's a nice guy and VERY smart, but he is difficult to understand, uninteresting, and likes to take off a ton of partial credit points even if you get the answer slightly wrong. He works well for some people, but not for me. I really wouldn't recommend him.
He's hard + humorous when writing online notes. I think he is an ok. However he does not communicate with the DE class very well. I was surprised what he did to me. He graded me before I had a chance to the do the makeup test. If you take 132 do not take it on line. It is too complex; in class participation is needed to pass & always aced Math :-(
Clear instruction. Lots of homework. Helpful even during tests. Ultimate in patience. Recommend taking ANY math class from this personable and knowledgable professor.
Great prof! He's so lenient with tests and quizzes (Drops lowest grades and lets you take home several quizzes). You get used to the accent after a while. I found he was very helpful. Def recommend.
Overall, very nice experience. I took an online class, had an easy A, this guy is quite ok.
Dr. Wong is an ok teacher, very boring if you already know the material. His accent is horrible, cant pronounce anything. says "graph" like "grawwwf" retarded. tests are really easy, is understandable with partial credit.
Please if you have difficulty with math, dont take this online. Nothing against professor Wong, online math is so much more complicated.
Not only is he hard to understand, goes too fast and gives almost no instruction.
Professor Wong is extremely intelligent, and always available for help when you need it. He does have an accent, but I don't find it to be bothersome at all--you get used to it within the first ten minutes of class. He is by far one of the best math teachers I have come across, and does an excellent job at explaining difficult concepts. Very easy
Professor Wong will help in every way possible. Even points your to right directions for the quiz. He gives you 2 shots at the quizes and 2 onsite exams. Exams are 80% of the grade. I took his online class and its not an easy A, not because of the teacher but the subject itself. Online 132 is not for folks who find math hard. Studied and got A.
Mr Wong is a great teacher. There are two Wongs at the school and the other one is supposedly horrible, but Tityik Wong is actually one of my favorite teachers at the school. Some of the bad ratings are most likely because of the other Wong at this school. He does have an accent but he is easy to understand. GREAT TEACHER!
Proff Wong, Tityik's class was the worst class I have taken in my college history. He gives you two on site test allows you to use a calculator but doesnt just take the answers like he does with the quizzes. Each test is worth 160 points if you fail the 1st one you fail the whole course, I dont recommend this course what so ever!
Very nice gentleman, second test killed the class on Probability.Offers one test makeup. Did HW and went into the torturing lab but still struggling to work the problems. Advice: Overall learning new concepts is great; you must work the problems and study or you?re doomed to fail this class for sure. Test review is nothing compared test Be advised.
His math 132 class not what you want to take... Gives practice tests but they are nothing to the actual test. BEWARE, if you get a bad grade on one test cant make it up you fail all the way through
He is a very nice guy, but the concepts were difficult. You must study and do the hw to keep up. He gives practice tests before the actual test. There are only 3 tests and you have the option of taking a make up for one.
I took this online and attended some of his lectures in class. 2 main test are given in class - they are worth a majority of you points. Very, very difficult. No extra credits. Was given the option of retaking the mid-term but only during finals week(not easy when in the middle of all other of your finals)
(Summer Online Math 132) Dr. Wong posted answers to questions promptly online. His notes helped me to understand concepts. This course is demanding because it is one semester?s worth of material to learn in 39 days! Worked my tail off and got an A. Avoid taking in the summer if you struggled in prior math courses or have a busy personal schedule.
Don't take his class! He doesn't teach, he just goes through everything and expects you to know it all! Very hard, and frustrating.
Great math teacher, I will definitely use him for future classes!
Much help is available during office hours or by email. Email responses to questions are rapid. But you have to be the one to ask him for help to get it.If you do all the homework and are able to do not just the easy problems but also the medium and difficult ones, you will have no trouble on the exams.
Good Teacher, but taught pre-calc differently than i had previously learned it.
Con: Extremely Difficult class. Don't joke around if you plan on taking this class, you must either be good at math or extremely dedicated. Calculus 1 isn't easy. PRO: On time, available at office hours, flexible, gives a make up exam (this is a privilege), covers all course content thoroughly. If you want to succeed, get tutored by him and KEEP UP
Very hard class. I recommend do not take this course online. Dr. Wong gives practice test, however they are nothing like the actual test given. The tests are worth 90% of your grade and the rest are the quizzes. No extra credit, no homework and no attendance. Very difficult class to do well in unless you live and breath Math 132
I do not recommend taking this class if math is an area you struggle in. The teacher is dedicated and has good intentions but he makes a lot of errors and his accent was very difficult for me to understand. He did allow me to retake a test I did poorly on, but I struggled a lot throughout this class.
Very good teacher. I received an A because I would go to his office hours and get help. Very friendly, willing to help every time I asked for it. As far as lectures, he was pretty clear and had a good way of teaching. The final is not standardized. When he gives you a review sheet, it is very similar to the test you will be taking.
Dr. Wong is an excellent teacher for this subject. He is quite fair and allows you to retake exams for a higher grade. His explanations are clear and he readily answers all questions. You must do the homework to succeed in this class even though it is not graded.
Although at first you have trouble understanding his accent,I got used to it throughout the class. He gives great notes. DO THE HOMEWORK! I cannot stress enough! If you do bad on a quiz, you can turn in homework for a better grade. Need to do homework to understand exams. Helpful teacher, although he never really gives busy work. I would recommend!
I've had this teacher for Precalc I and II, and I've gotta say he's been the best Math instructor I've had. Plus, he is very helpful. He goes over things step by step, which is better. So long as you put in effort you'll pass his class with flying colors. And his tests are not that difficult.
This teacher may not be perfect, but nobody is of course. I said the class is 4/5 on the difficulty because you have to put in the effort to get an B or A. As long as you're willing to put the effort he will help you, which is great. Dr Wong is calm, patient, optimistic and the opposite of strict. I actually enjoyed math for once because of him.
Very easy class, If you have learned about Statistic in high school, Test 2 is definitely an easy A. First test is basic algebra. Not hard at all. Take it if only if you think high school math is easy.
Super nice teacher, math is a difficult subject for me and he explains things well. His silly personality makes it entertaining to learn. Only towards the very end of the semester did it start to make sense but I pulled off a pretty good grade. If you bomb a test you are allowed to re-take it at the end of the semester, but I never had to.
He is a great professor. Math 181 is hard but he explains it well so that the class can understand. There are 3 exams and 1 final. He always asks for questions. He gives you a study guide before the exams that are almost identical to the exam.
Please DO NOT take his class online! His class is really hard. He just gives typed notes from the book. There's a lot of quizzes and 2 test that will kick you butt if you don't study. I had to pay a tutor to help me out with chapters 6 and 7 because you're basically teaching yourself from the book. You will be wasting your money. Just go in person.
He knows the material, but he's not a good teacher. He basically does examples on the board, you take down what he's doing, and he expects you to learn. There are 3 main tests worth 100 pts each, then 4 quizzes varying in value but they equal 100 pts, final is 200 pts. He's OK, but try to chose another if you you can.
This is one of most insightful classes I have taken. The concepts are great, and the capabilities in math are increased. This course is very hard, but it will be worth it (if you're a math major). He does not require any of the homework done, but it is helpful. If I can get an A+ (as a junior in high school), then it's possible for anyone too.
Quiz dates always close together 2 or 3 apart. No homework 2 study from. 2 tests 90% of your grade. 10 quizzes 4 10%. Study guide helpful, but gives 2 or 3 questions on the test that are worth 20 to 30 points each and can make or break your test because he makes them real difficult to solve, using methods that aren't on the quizzes. DO NOT SUMMER.
Dr. Wong is very helpful when you reach out to him and does respond in a timely matter. He will always answer your questions. I received an A, but I would highly suggest that you consider taking this class in person. Teaching yourself finite mathematics is extremely challenging without a tutor, it would be much easier to have it explained in class.
Dr. Wong is a very helpful teacher and always there for you. Unless you don't want to spend time to study, otherwise it's very easy to pass his class. All you need to do is study the text book and do all the questions on the book if you have any questions go to Khan Academy online.
He knows the material, yet is a horrible teacher. He gives no extra credit and almost never answers questions in class. If you do badly on a test you can only retake it if you do well on all the other tests. He also gives class quizzes which even with the notes are very hard to comprehend. If you miss class you will not understand.
Does not provide clear dates for when quizzes or exams need to be taken. There were no dates listed in the syllabus. You are left hanging trying to schedule work in this and other classes. Practice tests for exams are nothing like the real exam. What is the purpose? A practice test should be similar in content to the 'real' exam. He was no help.
Dr. Wong is very sweet and kind. He always there for his students when they need help. Math is not easy, but he makes it easy to understand. There are random quizzes some is count, it will add more points for exam. And 2 exam + 1 final. He will give review sheet before each exam that help a lot. I wish that he teach Math 283. Recommend him.
He went really fast, skipped steps, made a lot of mistakes while teaching (would fix them), gave pop quizzes, didn't make homework a requirement didn't really ask if we had questions just kept going.
Awful class, teacher never answers questions, tests literally have no relation to material in class, no homework, no extra credit. i went to class everyday and it was such a waste of time and energy. The material in his class is so abstract people in the tutoring center couldn't help . unless this is your last math class do not take it at all costs
Wong is a great professor. Just really study and do the homework and ask for help when needed. Your grade is based ONLY on the tests and a little bit of the quizzes.
Difficult to understand due to accent. Don't bother asking questions because you will just become more confused.
Worst professor ever. This dude trash.
If you put in a small 20% effort you will get at least an 80% in this class. From the start complete comprehensive notes are given which are a good supplement to the book. If you ask for help he's there. If you do all the assignments, use tutoring and online sources, and practice just prior to tests this class will not be difficult.
I am an A/B student and received my first D in this professors class. His notes are all over the place and his accent is difficult to understand. When I asked what I could do to raise my grade he said "there are more points to be earned", little did I know he let other students retake tests. Do yourself a favor and don't take this course.
You need to get a perfect score in every test to pass this class and STUDY HARD! test 1 - 100 pts, test 2 - 100 pts, test 3 - 100 pts, test 4 - 200 pts. GOOD LUCK!
Terrible online class, this professor is so broad with there teaching sometimes I forgot that i even had this class. No guidance what so ever, just read a book and immediately take the quiz.
Not tough at all. Just make sure you go over the chapters of the required textbook & the notes he provides you in the beginning of the course. There are a total of 6 Quizzes and 2 Final Exams. He provides you a "study guide" which you're able to see what he will be having on the exam. Gives you plenty of time to study before the test. Great Prof.
Great Professor! I took his class and earned an A-. If you study the easy step by step examples in the math book and email him periodically if you don't understand the quiz , he will email you back quickly and even give you hints to get it right. Not a hard class, also youtube and the CSN math tutors helps a great deal. Strongly suggest this class
Honestly, the people who do not do well in Dr. Wong's class don't try. He is very clear about everything. All of his lectures make sense because he is really thorough. There were only 3 tests and a final. Each test has a review and a similar old test online, which he goes over in class. He can be quiet but I would definitely take him again!
I took his online math class 120 and i got an A. Easiest class i have ever took all you need to do is go over the textbook, and look at his notes and videos on going over the subject. 2 final exams overall and 6 online quizzes overall. Final exams are easy if you understand. He also emails back very quickly and gives a good explanation.
Summer Term Math 120: You get the grade you work for, it's not a hard class. The Professor tells you everything you need to do and everything that needs to be done. If you read the notes and watch the videos that go along with the chapters the class is easy! Professor Wong also replies fairly quickly to emails which is always a plus.
Dr. Wong is a very kind man... but may very well be the worst math teacher I've ever had. He has a heavy accent, and he speaks rather softly so it's hard to understand him. If you HAVE to take him sit near the front and take good notes. He knows the subject well, but is not very good at teaching it. He will answer your questions though.
It's only halfway through the semester and i'm really struggling in his class, even though I do all the homework and have a tutor. Dr. Wong is VERY nice, but his teaching skills are a no. Makes up examples in his head that don't make sense. Homework is pretty heavy. Only 3 tests though, which have less than 15 questions. Not multiple choice.
Mr. Wong isn't as bad as people make him out to be. He does a good job of explaining the "why" of everything and answering people's questions. He does have an accent, but he's still easy to understand. Lots of optional homework to practice. As long as you utilize your resources (khan academy, tutoring center, office hours, etc) you should be fine.
Dr. Wong is a good professor, he does have a heavy accent but is understandable. I have never been good at Math and I got a B on his class. He takes the time to answer any questions and truly care for his students.
I took this class online. You take a total of 6 quizzes (one every two weeks), and 2 tests. You need the book in order to pass the class. If you are not strong at math, I would not take it. I passed with an A, but I like Math and did it all on my own. One problem was that he does word some of the problems weirdly and it can be hard to understand.
explains material and answers questions well it's a math class, practice and you'll succeed
You can tell he knows what he's talking about, but he's not the best at teaching the material. I'm also very visual and he sometimes skips some steps, which confuses me at times. But if you ask questions he can normally clear things up. He's not my number one recommendation though. If math isn't your best suit, then I wouldn't suggest him.
Math 120 online. Doesn't communicate much but instructions are simple. Go through the chapters and do the practice exams at the end. Quizzes every couple weeks. Have 2 shots per quiz. He provides old tests and exams (w/ answers) to practice. Questions are answered timely. 2 exams in person. Textbook is fairly easy to follow.
His accent can get in the way but mostly he just skips around and talks real fast. He was very helpful though after class one on one. He's really nice and caring. There is a pop quiz about every 1-2 weeks. Three tests and a final exam. There are practice exams that are SUPER helpful. Show him that you're improving and he will help boost your grade
Math has never been my strong suit and I was hesitant to take this class online. But Professor Wong was extremely helpful anytime I was stuck on any problems and always responded very quickly. The homework was not graded, but it is prudent that you complete all of it so you know what you are doing when you take the tests. Practice makes perfect.
This is the 1st time I had to drop a class mid-semester. Skips steps on lectures, possess a thick, sometime unintelligible accent, and the only things you're graded on are tests and quizzes. DOESN'T POST THE GRADES ON CANVAS. Pre-calc is hard as it is, and sadly, he made understanding this subject next to impossible for me. Take at your own risk.
He takes an already difficult subject and makes it more difficult and he enjoys this. He is very smart, but I won't take another class with him. I work and I don't like studying 60 hrs a week just to pass a test in one class.
I truly enjoyed Professor Wong. I am not a whiz at math by any stretch of the imagination, but I found his class to be doable. I really liked the textbook's focus on practical, real-life math. You can expect to do one chapter in the textbook every two weeks, along with a test on that chapter every two weeks. Highly recommend for Math 120!
Professor Wong does know his material. If you are a Visual learner then I don't recommend you taking this online 8 week course class. I've looked at the book and I mostly go through the videos but the videos aren't even helping out at all. The videos gives good examples but you still have to go back and re-read each chapter again.
Professor Wong skips alot on lectures. I've read the book and I also seen the videos and the videos even skips a step or two. He is a tough grader, I tooked him for an 8 week course class. CSN students if you aren't good at math, preferably take an instructor but not him.
Prof Wong set up a very clear online course. Self paced but must complete quizzes within time period. 2 attempts per quiz. He provided us with old tests to use as study material and was available for any questions. 2 proctored tests you MUST do. The material is not super hard but must put forth the effort to learn it yourself. Would def take again
if you suck at math i don't recommend this prof., he speaks way too fast and all it is notes notes and more notes. He hardly explains a topic before going to the next and the only thing you are graded on is quizzes and tests ): and you cannot retake them at all!! do not recommend
Never had a harder time understanding a teacher. Took his class once, regretted it terribly. A year later he was the only professor available to take my next math course; decided I'd try him out again, perhaps it was my fault it went so bad the first time? Unfortunately, had the same experience and withdrew a week in.
His online class was pretty easy. 6 homework assignments due every other week, you get 2 chances at them. Also a midterm and final. He gives you a sample test for both, just study and go over them and they should be a piece of cake. Both tests you have to go to campus for.
Very good professor, 2 in class exam, 6 quizzes online, extra credits. He responded in timely manner. Overall, very good. I would take him again. Thank you.
very bad don't take him
I am not good with math, but every other teacher I have had explained things better than him. He is poor with explaining things and teaches way too fast in my opinion. I would highly recommend you to not take this class with this professor. I could only imagine how tough the online course for this class would be. I had a private tutor help me more.
I took his class online and I would recommend you do too if you're okay with learning from the textbook. For me, learning from the textbook was easy and the ability to get 2 attempts on each quiz each week. Very generous with grading finals as well.
Midterm & Final are most of your grade! Professor Wong has written the textbook so it is free but difficult to understand when doing online and no one to correct your errors. I found myself doing the formulas wrong and failing the tests. 6 Quizzes you get 2 chances to to each one but you must be able to teach yourself and be confident.
The class was easy. Prof wong is very simple and easy to work with. If you wanted to you could stay home and learn from the book and then just come in on quiz and test days. No homework. If you did pre calc or higher in high school this course is a refresher practically and i found going to class to be a waste of time. Too easy
The class itself is very hard. Even though the professor is nice, you can't pass it if you don't understand whats going on. Book is written by him and very hard to understand. Not to mention the final and midterm.
I took his class online and learned it from his notes so I did not buy the textbook and I did not need it! Quizzes are easy but you take 2 procured tests and both tests I left thinking I got at least a B and I always got low C's. If you do not have the correct answer you automatically lose 10/15 points so it's difficult. No room for error.
This professor is not the best for those students who are a little slower and ask a lot of questions. He has a heavy accent and is kinda hard to understand sometimes. He doesnt explain how to do the problems step by step he will just solve them completley and expect you to understand. I do not recommend him and I would NEVER take him again.
He teaches and expects you to get it right away. If you are someone who needs extra help and asks questions, he is not for you. Sometimes he will even skip steps because he thinks it should be obvious what he is doing and it is just very aggravating.
Im not a person who just understands math but with the notes, textbook, and videos he had available it made sense to me, anytime I had a question, he responded quickly with the help I needed. I would chose to take his class again if needed.
I took Math181 with another professor the semester before and failed miserably because of a bad professor. Taking it with him was way easier and I understood the material way better. Was in person and then was switched to online during COVID and the class was still great. 4 exams, some open-note quizzes, does everything to help you pass!
Professor Wong is a very logical math teacher. He teaches the content in a way that builds a strong foundation around the rules at hand and builds from there. His method of explanation is easy to follow. His in class collaborative quizzes helps individuals learn from different angles. His tests are thorough and challenging without surprises.
I dropped the first week. He has just weekly quizzes and two tests (proctored) that he writes himself and you have to show every single step. The textbook he wrote is so confusing. Too much work even just for one assignment a week. If you're strong at math, this is not a bad class. If you're weak at math, take a diff prof. Maybe get a tutor.
From someone who hates math and is terrible at it, I really enjoyed this class! For the most part its self taught, but the textbook is really clear about explaining things & the professor is always available if you need any help! You had about 3 days to work on a quiz before turning it in and always had 2 attempts at it to fix mistakes! Great class
I've never been good at math, but the textbook he uses is really simple to read. His lectures can be a bit confusing at times, only because he'll explain a bunch of things not to do, rather than just explaining how to do it. But I basically just taught myself using the textbook, which worked perfectly fine. He's a good choice, I would recommend him
His teaching style is not for everyone. His tests are worth 50% of your grade and offers no extra credit. Once you mess up on a test you cant really get your grade back up when hw is 30% and final is 20%. He goes off topic during zoom meetings and its hard to stay focused.
Lectures are easy to follow, quizzes and test are very straight through. He reviews everything that will be on the tests. Whenever I had a question about a quiz question he always helped and replied in a timely matter I felt like I didnt need the textbook. 6 quizzes and 3 test total. And a chance to retake a test at the end of semester.
Professor Wong is a great teacher, he teaches in a way that I can understand and I have always struggled with math. If there is something I didn't understand he would take the time to help me, even if it was after hours. If you follow his lectures and take notes, you will do well!
Professor Wong is AWFUL! He does NOT treat the class like an online class; you are still required to upload pictures of your work and how you solved the problems into CANVAS to show him! RIDICULOUS! He does not provide adequate preparation of any kind for the tests or quizzes. TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!
Get ready to teach yourself! Or get a tutor! He confuses himself in his lectures, constantly corrects himself and other students correct him too! Homework counts for nothing toward your grade. It's 3 exams and a final that you print, write, upload, and he hand grades. He replies to email. He's nice enough, but a really bad teacher.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is the worst professor for math. He does not provide enough time for preparing for tests and quizzes. You wouldn't know until the week of if you have a test in this class. He goes off topic during his online lectures and it is hard to follow. He assumes we should already know all the topics. DO NOT TAKE HIM! Awful!
you want the honest truth of this professor? He's literally the worst, you have to really prepare on becoming your own teacher since when he is on conference he has to correct himself or the students have to correct him . Homework literally doesn't help also with the test itself is NOTHING compare to the study guide. He is a very picky grader.
So earlier in the semester I wrote a review. Well Im here to change that now. This professor accused me of letting someone copy my work when I asked if he could round my 89.67% grade and he did not! After all the time I took teaching myself because he couldnt teach this is the way he treats students. DO NOT TAKE HIM HE IS PETTY
Never regretted taking a professor more than this. This professor is the absolute worst. His lectures are very confusing. When it comes to grading tests, he is the worst. He gave points to my friends when we both got the same answers but said my answer was wrong. Homework doesnt help at all. If math is not your strongest, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Mr. Wong is a great teacher!! He explains things very clearly, and gets back to your emails really fast!! He goes above and beyond to help his students succeed!! He is a very friendly, helpful teacher, one of the best I have ever had!! I would highly recommend him!!
Skip this professor at all costs, he lies straight from the syllabus about the goals of the class. Teaches complete nonsense that any simple computer system can solve and if you don't do it with his "method" he marks it wrong. Lies about giving extra credit for turning in your worksheets. Biggest mistake of my life taking this class. What a waste.
Professor Wong has a very strong accent. It takes some time getting used to, however when teaching hard concepts such as derivatives, it becomes very difficult to understand. VERY lecture heavy, 2 hrs 2 times a week. Not mandatory, but 100% necessary to pass. 5 tests, long and difficult, but he is an easy grader. LOTS OF HOMEWORK!!!!
Course itself will be rough since it's Calculus, however Professor Wong isn't too bad as a professor. He held lectures twice a week that weren't mandatory, however were helpful in understanding some of the harder questions on the homework/tests. Everything is recorded and he provides practice tests, as long as you do the work you'll be fine.
Tough class and tough teacher. Doesnt allow you to see where you messed up on HW or tests. You just have to guess where you went wrong because he hides the correct answers for student safety which is really weird for an online class. Its tough to understand the material but if your really good at math youll probably get it, hopefully.
Dr. Wong was excellent. Went over all of the concepts clearly and made sure everyone understood. The tests were very similar to the study guides and he was forgiving about small errors. Homework was online with infinite attempts. I can't speak for other classes, but I definitely recommend Dr. Wong for Calc II in person.
Study guides get posted late. Sometimes the wording in HW and tests aren't very clear and cause confusion. He is no doubt an intelligent person but has trouble getting points across to laymen, especially if you have a hard time with math. Fair person, let people redo 1st exam, because a fair amount screwed up. 4 exams, last 1 too close to final.
Tikyik Wong is a good teacher. Anyone who puts in a little effort and time in his class will most definitely pass MATH 181. His lectures and explanations are great! 90% of my grade was based on tests, so listening to his lectures is a must. His reviews and expectations are straightforward and very helpful! Homework comes in BatchesDueEveryFewWeeks.
He's not a bad professor. But there's only 16 hw in a 16 week course. I got all A's on all of my hw, and A's on two of the tests; but I forgot to do one test and I'm not passing the class. I asked if I could make up the test for 50% credit to at least kind of salvage my grade and he said no. I just wish there was more grade padding in the class. :/
Dear Mr. Wong you are the best teacher ever thank you for giving an good grade and all the assignments were easy final exams was like the study guide. Good teacher and lectures are easy to follw.
Dr. Wong has an easy schedule there are 4 tests, and 1 final held in person. The tests are done through his remote class times and he presents a study guide with questions that you will see on the tests. Calculus isn't easy but Dr. Wong gives credit mainly for showing steps. Not an easy class but Dr. Wong won't make it aggravating.
Professor Wong is an intelligent person with his knowledge of Calculus, but it doesn't always translate when he teaches. Professor Wong has a heavy accent which makes him difficult to understand but the homework has a lot of videos and help to solve the problems and he gives a lot of tries to the homework. He grades pretty leniently on tests.
Dr. Wong is impressively intelligent in math. I wish he was better at communicating his expertise. His lectures are just him writing problems on the board and solving them. He doesn't really engage with the class. I recommend you learn the subjects on YouTube, get good at those, study the test reviews, and do your best. He is a lenient grader.
His instructions are very unclear, I was always good at math but he is very confusing. If you used different formulas and not what he expected you to use, not a chance for full credit. You're also expected to show literally every step on the tests for full credit although he said some steps can be skipped (yes, step like 1-1 = 0 is important too).
Hi everyone! I took this class over fall 2022 and although notes can be confusing just ask and three exams and final exam and that all and chapter assignments in the packet! He an good teacher
I would not recommend this class unless you are already good at math. Professor Wong is genuinely a nice person but lacks clear instructions & doesn't really seem willing to help. His test questions come out of left field, as they are not discussed in lectures, or on the homework...which is unfortunate because tests make up 50% of the final grade.
Took 120e. Very understanding and kind. Doesn't take attendance, study guide is IDENTICAL to the test. Very easy to get an A. Paced slowly. Couple online quizzes but unlimited attempts. He is a bit difficult to understand, thick accent. Honestly his lectures were not that helpful, but it is easy enough to teach yourself with online videos.
Hi everyone! I recommend taking this class because there three exams and chapter assignments in the packet! It is hard class!
I took this professor for math 120e. The class wasn't hard at all, although I knew most of the concepts and materials so it wasn't hard to grasp. He has a thick accent and doesn't always explain things the best. I think he's a very talented mathematician, though maybe not the best teacher. In 120e, he provided a pdf textbook that we didn't use.
Can be a harsh grade at times. Sometimes doesn't explain the work too well. Class is VERY dependent on how well u do on exams. Is very nice, you will feel comfortable asking him questions. His review/study guide is IDENTICAL to his exams, so study, you will pass EASY. You can't miss a day tho, you will be very confused when you come back!
If you are bad at math, take his class; he is very easy to work with, allows re-takes, makes good notes, and goes over the practice test the class before.
I took this class spring 2022! The assignments was fun. Three exams! I recommend him! If you like math take him! I like math! Every class is lectures!
He's just like a contractor. Everything is in writing. Everything is black and white and no gray area. He tries to give reviews online, but he's not good at breaking down the problems. If you are a hands on then don't take his class. No chances, no extra credit, no nothing!
I took this class spring 2022. It was very fun class. There will be three exams and final. He provided study guides. He give amazing feedback on assignments. I like math it was little hard very interesting.
Professor Wong's MATH120 class is manageable with the right approach. Attend lectures, use the free textbook, and take advantage of study resources like ChatGPT and Unstuck AI. Exams are key, so be sure to thoroughly prepare. Overall, an engaging class for math-inclined students.
I took professor Wong class spring 2022. Best class and professor! I recommend him for math which wasn't hard! There will be three exams.
Professor Wong is not a great teacher if you aren't good at teaching yourself math. I mostly just showed up on test days after a couple of weeks. The homework is harder than the tests in my opinion. He gives good study guides and provides detailed feedback on tests. SHOW YOUR WORK in this class, he gives generous partial credit.
This class was terrible. No matter how much you may study, review, come to class, and even get outside help, you will still be confused. His exams make up 80% of your grade, and the questions always come out of left field. How he is no doubt well versed in math, his ability to actually translate that knowledge and explain it, is nonexistent.
Meh. It's a teach yourself class. 6 HW, 3 Tests, 1 Final. All the work is done on Canvas, which is very annoying given how math problems and Canvas don't mix kindly. Textbook was free, but it was very obviously written by a mathematician that assumes you automatically know how they got from Point A to Point B without needing in-depth explanation.
Very black and white professor. Little to no interaction with students, and not very helpful. Has a heavy accent so it's hard to understand him sometimes. He writes on the board and that's all he does for the whole class. Not a very good teacher , hard to learn material in class. I do not recommend.
He's very lecture heavy and just rambles on about the work he's done. His test is way harder than expected and the study guide barely helps. He will Randomly assign class work. Clac 2 is a very hard subject and he knows how it works but can't teach in way that stick to students. Go take someone else if you have a chance.

Dr. Wong is clearly very knowledgeable in calculus, he is very nice, and you can tell he genuinely enjoys math. His class is very difficult as well as test heavy (80% of your grade)final included. You will have to teach yourself a good amount. With AI and youtube it is manageable. If you stay on top of your work you pass.
80% weight on all tests, says that he's willing to give credit if you show steps and that's a lie. If you don't put what he wants despite being right he will dock points from you. Lectures are very black and white and rarely talk to students. I had to take him because I had no choice and wished I could've dropped out.
This probably the worst semester for calc 2 for the fact that the test constantly have a mean of 50s to 60s. His study guide won't prepare you for the test since the study guide was not made 6 years ago. Test are 80% of total grades and there will be 5 of them.
This professor is impossible. 3 big exams and the final makes up 85% of the grade. A lot of homework assignments that are long and difficult making up only the remaining 15% of the grade. Long, unappealing lectures where he only writes on the board. He's hard to understand and follow and quick to accuse people of cheating and doesn't care for you.
He was a great professor, very informative lectures and explains the material well. While there is a lot of homework, it has infinite attempts and usually has videos that accompanies them that explains how to solve the problems. The tests are graded generously and the study guides are pretty much verbatim what would be on the tests.
He knows about calculus 2 but the class is such a mess of teaching that's its really hard for someone to understand. Sometimes he talks more about Algebra despite its being calculus 2? It would be more helpful if he review some main concepts of calc 1 but nope! Algebra more important. 80% on all tests and 10% on HW. Sometimes random class work too.
Best Math Prof ever! Work is mostly easy, with some tough sections. Follow class notes to ace Canvas work & F2F exams (no notes). Wish he taught stats! Easy to talk to and very supportive. Spring 2025.
His ratings may seem polarizing, but he is a great professor. He does have an accent, so it may be tough listening to his lectures. 80% of your grade is solely on exams, but he has study guides, he helps you out DURING exams if you ask, and even if you get a question wrong, he forgives small mistakes and rewards partial credit for effort.
I don't know how good of a professor he is in person, but his online class consisted of homework every 2 weeks (which I think was paced well for the content) and a final with 40% OF YOUR WHOLE GRADE, that you HAVE to do in person or you fail immediately. He does give good feedback, but since he wrote the textbook, that is the only way he teaches.
