The BEST teacher at Highline! He helps you with everything and the final and mid-term in JRNL 101 is really easy if you pay attention. Just make sure you do your stories!!!

TM ROCKS! A challenging, knowledgable instructor, tough but fair.

TM is the best teacher i have ever had. I still talk to him once a week and look to him for career guidance. He made me the journalist I am today

Good guy, can be a real hard ass but very knowledgeable and yes fair. Expected me to write an article without ever writing an article before, my first one, it got deleted somehow and was very bad. He got PISSED! Can be very mean.

Unapologetically opinionated. If you respect him and pay attention you'll learn a lot, but if you don't, watch out. Really funny guy if you have the right sense of humor.

T.M. is funny and really gets the point across, but don't cross him, cause you will regret it.

A true professional and has modeled this for his students as well. A recipient of many awards for his work, it would be your privilege to be one of his students! It's the tougher professors like Sell who we can actually learn something from.

if you want to learn to write an article in pure perfection, take this class. yes brutally honest, but isnt all honesty mostly brutal when it's judging your first works?

Make sure you read lecture notes, sometimes there's extra credit points in them. I got a 96 or higher on every essay, even when I thought I had BSed it big time. No tests for the online class, just essays and discussion board, so you really only have to spend 1 day a week on it, so it's pretty easy. Make sure you reference from both books and notes

T.M. is a pretty cool guy. Just do the work, and you'll do fine. Don't take his class if you are a slacker though, because that won't fly with him. If you put in the extra effort, you'll leave with the extra grade.

TM is great. I hated him at first but he actually knows what he's talking about and you can learn a lot from him. He's the best journalism prof I've ever had.

I took online class, but he was very helpful and his comment was good and clear. Actually, his assignment was not easy, but I thougt he was nice professor.

TM is probably the best teacher I ever had, him and Jim Glennon. He is super laid back and expects you to do what he asks without having to ask you 50 times. You also got to get to know him, he is cool about most mistakes, and just says 'change it' or 'you'll get this.' Its a hard class, but worth it. But if anybody knows his first name, post it.

Dr.Sell is a great teacher. He may come off as mean but it's his way of weeding out people. The person who said there isn't a syllabus is wrong. It's online! The only reason anyone should get lower than a C in his class is because they don't pay attention. Just pay attention, take good notes, and review. You'll be fine. He even offers extra credit.

He's one of those types who thinks he seen/done/knows it all. Will go out of his way to make students look stupid. I do Recommend taking this class if your a BUS MAJ, it was amusing and he explains the material extremely well. Just take good notes. On test questions use HIS EXACT definitions, explanations, and examples he gave during his lectures.

Tough, tough teacher. His criticism can be harsh but he can be very understanding if you just listen. Although it may seem like it at first, he doesn't expect you to be a perfect scholar but he does expect you to work hard and take him seriously. A great and funny guy, but tough teaching style.

I took the online course. It was a difficult concept for me to grasp seeing as it's really not my interest, but Mr. Sell made it very clear in the notes. If you stay on top of the notes that he posts, the majority of the test questions come from those. I hardly used the book. Don't plagerize in his class! You will get a 0. He's serious.

First of all, you want to get on his good side and take lots of notes. He's pretty chill and has a good sense of humor. I liked his class, he explains things well but you MUST take lots of notes. 90% of test questions are based off lectures! I'd recommend him for sure.

TM is the coolest professor on campus. He's classic, sarcastic, and can always make you laugh. His suspenders are the coolest and so are his ties! The people that don't like him are the ones who fail his class because they don't do any work or show up. He is an overall fantastic teacher, I give him 5 gold stars! TM IS THE MAN.

Tm is one sarcastic individual. if you dont know how to life... learn. He may mock you occasionally but you are free to mock him back and who will laugh if its good. Tm will not cater to your needs. He runs the class like a real newspaper. If you want to learn, I recomend this class.If you want to sit back and do nothing, expect to not pass.

TM's class is simple,either you show up and care about your grade, or you dont! You get the grade you deserve basically. If your looking for a challenge, take TM's class, if your looking for something easy, DONT take TM's class. I got a 4.0 so it's not impossible!

I began my HCC life as a little journalism zygote, and now I'm a full-blown award-winning print journalist. Quit yer bellyachin', do the work and DON'T CHEAT. Karma bites hard.

in the beginging, i didnt like this class and I was so scared of his class. The way he teaches is really strict. He expects alot from you. One thing I will guarantee is that YOU WILL LEARN. you cannot be LAZY in his class. If you CARE for your grade, he will care also. i passed w/ 4.0 :)You will end up enjoying his class!

Dr. Sell is the university professor everyone will dread. He is strict and very particular with your work. I don't see why people say stuffs like he is rude. I say, he is straightforward. His points of view are very realistic and logical. If you want to learn, take his class. His way of teaching will help you get into a university.

Dr. Sell can be very rude and sarcastic, but usually it's in a funny way. Your writing skills will improve in this class. Has his own lecture notes. Class was pretty straightforward: one essay each week and discussion posts. If you can do well in his class, you're ready for university level courses. Taking his class improved my study habits.

T.M. is sarcastic, don't take him to seriously. Be nice to him and he will be nice back. Ask for help from Gene or T.M. and you will do better on all your stories. I have found a new love of journalism thanks to them. As long as you try, and manage your time well, you will do fine. I think he is a very fair grader.

Okay so a lot of the comments say he's rude or something along those lines, grow a pair. People who don't pass his class are the ones who mooched their way through their academic career and are surprised that they have to do real work. He literally taught me more than any of my english teachers. This class prepared for the university.

VERY opinionated teacher but doesn't ,mind if you don't agree. All in all great teacher, taught me more about succeeding in college than any other teacher I've had. Make sure you come to class EVERYDAY. He grades on his own scale and at the end if you think you should've got something better you can go ask him. Great teacher. Taking him again onlin

TM is a fantastic journalism professor. He is only intimidating IF you choose to be intimidated. Otherwise he gives great constructive criticism, is realistic, helps you on a personal level IF you ask, and knows what he's doing in and out. He's also got a sharp sense of humor. This class is hands-on journalism, and you get what you put into it.

TM is a good teacher. He clearly knows the subject matter and is pretty clear in explaining it. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't come to class, you won't be able to write your papers. Get on his good side, and passing will be easy.

Best professor ever!!! trust me and take his class his rules are simply just follow them. And personal tip do not plagiarize at any cost he will find out! Content is very easy lectures are really entertaining.

Sell is a tough grader and makes you evaluate your positions and thought patterns. He makes up for his tough grading by a large amount of participation and discussion segments, which can easily offset a poor score on a test. It's a nice balance between a challenge and a safe space to learn in.

75% of your grade is just like attendance and discussion. 2 essays not hard. Hilarious guy, If you think he is mean or bad, you most likely should not be in college. Easy class if you just do your work.

Dr. Sell was very intimidating to me in the beginning, but he's really not that bad of a guy if you don't get on his bad side. Very knowledgeable and his lectures make you actually think about the world. I honestly didn't expect to get a 4.0 but it's possible. Start papers early, take lots of notes, and PARTICIPATE.

EASY A!!! Do not need the textbook, you do not need to show up. The only reason I wouldn't take a class of his again is because, he picked on me for little things, the rest of the class notices as well. He's annoying.

He really isn't as bad as the others are saying. I didn't really do much except participate. I'm a running start student and he didn't just pick on me for that like others say. I did a paper in one night and for 97 percent on it, so not to hard just use the grading criteria he goes over. For the exams everything is in lecture notes on canvas.

Easy to follow rules and made assignments understandable. Tough grader but for a good reason! He's funny at the right times and makes the class fun by including group projects for points.
