Dr. Applegate gives funny, engaging lectures. His class is relevant, and the criteria needed to get a good grade is clear. He is by far one of my favorite professors on campus, and I will be taking the follow-up to this class next semester. That being said, his slides are largely photo-based and you have to be a good auditory learner to succeed.

Applegate is, like many social science teachers, arrogant. He loves himself and it shows. Nice and funny I guess. He's an intelligent man, no doubt. But I have a strong feeling that his intellect went over almost all of his students' heads. Lectures are quality but too many of his own thoughts, and more importantly, irrelevant to test material!!!

Professor Applegate is one of the best. His lectures are both entertaining and informative. There were no exams, just quizzes, 2 projects and discussions. Attendance in lecture was also mandatory and graded. Good class and professor to take for electives, the workload is not very demanding. Overall, great professor who is very funny and laid back.

He goes on about a lot of random things in lectures so it's pretty engaging and the quizzes are pretty easy. Although I dread Packbacks, they were only assigned once a week and were easy to get out of the way. Overall great class and a great professor

Super easy class and amazing prof. Everything is online, tests, quizzes, projects. Go to class because attendance is apart of your grade!! And the discussions are kinda annoying but just go and get the points, not point hurting ur grade when its so simple to do. They are easy anyway and usually end early.

Prof. Applegate knows a lot about geography and just talks about a ton of stuff every lecture. The assignments are very repetitive and are manageable if you put in effort. I learned a lot about geography even without putting in a lot of effort and I actually wish I had paid attention in class more. Cool guy.

Couldn't recommend Prof. Applegate more, honestly awesome experience for a class. All the work was the occasional discussion post and quiz (online), and 1 500 word essay, no final. If you are looking for a great class to fill in a gen ed, take this class.

If you make sure you go to lectures and read the textbook chapters, you'll do well in the class. There is NO final exam which is a plus, and most of your grade is just based on homework assignments.

Professor Applegate is a fantastic lecturer. Class was always interesting, he does have a tendency to sidetrack the material with personal tangents but they are usually entertaining. Most important thing for this class is to keep track of the assignments and tests as its all online and his late work policy is very harsh. All material is very easy.

toby is a good professor, but sometimes tends to get a bit sidetracked. the lecture slides are not posted after lectures so it's very important that you go to class. there is attendance credit, and a weekly quiz which can catch up to you if you aren't careful. it's very easy to get behind if you're not planning ahead.

Dr. Applegate is a great professor. He is funny and tells stories during the lecture. It was very entertaining. This class was very interesting and I learned a lot about the world. I took it randomly because I needed to take a Gen Ed and I am so happy I did. Super easy and interesting. I recommend 100%

Lectures are very interesting and he makes an effort to make this class as easy as possible, noting that most people are taking this course as a GenEd. There's no final or midterm. Every week there is an online quiz which is approx 50 questions each and are all open-note and due the next week. There is one project which is a manageable slideshow.

Applegate is a yapper to the highest degree. Very nice but lecture is a 50-minute, monotone soliloquy. Doesn't matter much cause quizzes are all textbook info and open note. Show up, don't forget a quiz and you'll get an easy A+. Also, didn't post the slides ever but seemed like you could email him for them(?)

Weekly online quizzes, 2 writing assignments, and a project instead of a final. He rambled a lot during his lecture about things not related to the class. This would be fine if he were clear about what he would test you on. There was clear criteria for writing assignments, but I was always going into the tests blind.

Great professor, really interesting to listen to. Only graded on out of class weekly quizzes. You might not agree with a lot of what he is saying, he has a lot of strong political opinions, but if you take that with a grain of salt and listen to the other stuff he is really good. You may not even need notes for this course.

Guy does not have his act together. Consistently comes in late and bad mouths the university that employs him. Talked mostly about when he traveled around Europe and non-sensical rants about his disappointment of a son. Super weird. Class is easy though, just if you value your time find another Gen Ed to fill your DG credit.

prof applegate was nice and has a dry sense of humor. the class overall was so easy, i stopped going after the first month and have an A. discussion sections are required but helpful, and make up almost half of your grade in the class. the other half of your grade is weekly quizzes (open note) and one final slides project. no midterm or final.

Professor Applegate was one of my favorite professors here. His lectures were very entertaining and he had lots of interesting stories to tell. His slides were easy to follow and take notes on. The workload was light--read a chapter of the textbook and do a quiz on it. Final was a easy 2 hour project, no exam.

This is a easy gen-ed, and I recommend it to everyone. Weekly open-note quizzes based on lecture/reading, final project is a simple slide-show that takes about 2 hours, attendance optional for lectures, and attendance mandatory for discussions. Only downside is that "homework" (quizzes) are on Pearson so you have to buy the book to access.

Comes to every class late and spends five minutes trying to turn on his laptop and find the PPT. He talks with his eyes closed and mumbles to himself, with no interaction with students at all. Goes on to stories that are far from the course content, with slow progress. To compensate he simply jumps over sections and those are still being tested.
