He was really good. I like the way he explains stuff. Always introsted in helping you understand.
Great teacher, learned a lot, but doesn't post grades and I didn't know what my grade was until the end of the semester. Highly recommend though, if that doesn't bother you.
very clear and fun to learn from. You didn't have to come to the classes, as everything was on powerpoint online, but it did help to remember the material going to class because of the way he taught it. I highly recommend him.
Excellent!
I would have liked Todd a lot better if he actually graded papers and gave them back to me. It's hard to write a final paper when I didn't even get my rough drafts back. Todd is nice, but really scattered brained and unorganized.
Scatter brain, but still a fun class.
I guess he is ok, a little bit on the Narcissistic side but keeps in check for class, just don't challenge him because he is never wrong.
He's a good teacher but his biases show up quite often. He doesn't like gays, that's obvious, and makes snide remarks about them whenever he brings them up. He's also narcissistic and egotistical. That showed when he told us about this lady who was 'stalking' him. Must have been quite an ego boost for him. Other than that, he knows his material.
He is the best professor who teaches psychology! I loved going to his class, and i enjoyed it! He makes it fun and interesting. his stories are hilarious and give you great insight. He is always willing to listen to your thoughts and ideas and enjoys class disscussions! Ask questions if you have any, he helps you not be confused anymore!
Dr. Baird is one of my favorite professors at Weber State. His teaching style conveys his interest of the field. He's big on good writing skills so be mindful of that.
I thought he was not a good techer. The test have nothing to do with what you learn in class!
Fun professor, used plenty of real scenarios during lecture. Doesn't believe in posting slides on line.
I didnt like his teaching methods. What he teaches is not on the test at all! He words things different on the tests than what he actually tells you to remember in class. I do not recommend him.
Great professor! Has fun in class and if you pay attention he tells you what's on the test. If you don't pay attention you won't do well on the test but if you pay attention he'll tell you 90 percent of what's on the test and what to study. Thoroughly enjoyed his class
Really nice teacher. Didn't really have any study sessions or extra help avaible. A lot of reading the chapter to study. Can tell he really loves what he is teaching. More difficult to know what to study exactly in his class.
I love the topic of Adolescence but he made me dread it. He is not an outside source. His lectures are useless; he reads directly from the book then makes a comment or two. I know how to read so I didn't appreciate that approach. He expects you to take the class very seriously but he doesn't extend the same courtesy; he was late for a few classes
for a lower devision class i had to dump too much time into it. his grading is unfare, and he changes terms to trick you on tests. he's smart, and expects you to be as smart as he. he will be a great teacher when he's 65 years old, and has calmed down a bit.
Very good teacher but test are quite hard. His test questions are quite tricky.
AMAZING PROF!- His ability to delve, and explain, the human psyche is phenomenal. I learned so much in his class that i took a second course from him :) Loads of experience, so sometimes seems slightly condescending: but if you look past that he is genuine, flexible, and just a great guy. period. TAKE HIS CLASS! I CHANGED MY MAJOR BECAUSE OF IT! &#
Thought he was a good teacher he made it interesting.
He doesn't answer questions. Also, he adds material to his tests that he didn't cover in class or assign in the book.
Great class. He lectures from his slides, so if you read the book and study the slides you do not have to go to class. I stopped going halfway through and I did better on the tests studying on my own. The class is hard if you do not study. He is very good an answering questions, and he is engaging in the classroom.
I would not recommend him. Attending class is entertaining but serves little in actually doing well in the class in that his lectures and slides are rarely applicable to tests. He is not very accommodating to students either.
Took class online. Listen to audio lectures, he tells you what he is looking for and what to study or not study on tests. Expects you to really learn material (compare and contrast theories from different chapters). Online class was ALL about theories not a lot of application besides paper at the end.
I took his class online. I loved it! I would recommend taking it from him. I have two small children and I ended up making a B-. The material is hard, but he tells you what to study for. He is an awesome professor!!
This prof is very clear and upfront about what he expects from you. I took this online and found his assignements easy but informative. The tests are pretty detailed, but using the guides he provides helps. The test questions were done by the book's authors, so they get pretty detailed. You definitely need to read and pay attention. Great class!
Horrible, horrible teacher. Makes a syllabus and does not stick to it. Makes your 40-50 hour project worth as much as a test that takes 10 minutes. Stay far, far away from this professor.
He does NOT take the time to get to know his students. When his mistakes are brought to his attention, he blames the student and tries to analyze them psychologically. Avoid if possible!!!
Dr Baird is a good teacher. His tests are based on his lectures and the Web thing he made us do. I got an A and I didn't put a lot of time into the class. He is willing to help if you have questions. Just make sure you do everything he assigns (it prepares you for the tests)
Thought he was a good teacher. He would explain things well most of the time, sometimes it was difficult to understand, but if you read the book, you'll do fine on all of his quizzes and tests. You have to work a little bit, but it is definitely a worth while class to take from Dr. Baird, very interesting and informative
Very easy class and very helpful professor!
Dr. Baird has a unique way of teaching but I enjoyed it. He was helpful and explained things really well. It is college, so obviously studying and reading the textbook is required, and that in turn helps for the exams! I enjoyed the class.
He is a great professor! He has a creative way to teach the class. He goes over the slides but you will still need to read the chapters in order to do well on the tests. You won't be sorry if you take from him.
Dont do it!! There are plenty of other psych professors that don't torture their students. He makes class needlessly difficult. He makes you feel dumb for asking questions. If the class is not as talkative as he wants you to be(we were all to scared to contribute at this point) he will change the test to purley essay form.
Stay away from this teacher. Demands to much for classes for undergrad and tough on grading.
A little difficult. If you're looking for an easy A, find someone else. Super hot though :)
I really enjoyed his class. If you are looking for a easy A however this isn't your class, you actually have write notes, and read the chapter. HOWEVER I had a fun time learning about psychology with him. Really funny, included students into the dicussion and plays the Devil's advocate. Recommend to anyone that wants to learn
Grades on the curve. He is a good teacher for the 1010 class. Id take him again.
I thought the class was pretty easy. You do have to study and take good notes though. Todd teaches well and can get you really interested in psych.
I'm sorry, but Dr. Baird is a terrible online teacher. I hear other students talk about how great he is, so it's probably best you take him in a face-to-face class. For online, you rarely hear from him and when you do, he has no interest. He'll say "remember, I have a lot to grade"- then don't teach so many classes!!
There is a lot to remember for the exams, so study, study, study! The only help he offers is showing essay questions he thought were A material. His classes require a lot of studying, and he's ruthless when it comes to asking for help. I don't know why I hear so many people say how awesome he is. Face-to-face class is probably better than online.
The class was entertaining. Not a very easy class, the tests require some good studying time. I kind of thought he was a bit immature. I wouldn't recommend him, the class discussions can become disgusting.
Took online. Loved the class, assignments were easy. My only complaint is that he rarely responds to emails. He also chooses which ones he will respond to. He would respond to one of my emails, but completely ignore other ones. I even left him a voice mail he never returned. VERY hard to get in touch with!!
Took course online, and it was informative, but not easy. Prof. Baird helps by providing sample essay questions and even tells you which theorist to focus on for the exams. Reading the book will be hugely important as well as watching the online videos of his lectures. He is very bad at responding to email.
Currently taking his online class, I just use the study guides he provides and text book and I am currently getting a B. I like him. Tests are clear and not too long. Would def take again.
I've had 3430 and 3010 from Prof. Baird, both online. They are definitely challenging courses, but also fascinating. Baird knows his stuff, and if you pay attention to his lectures, you can really learn a lot and be entertained. His anecdotes tie in with the material presented and make it easier to remember. Study study study and you will do well.
Avoid this professor if possible. This was an upper division course and his lectures consisted of reading from the textbook. His power points are also from the authors of the textbook, not his own work. His tests do not match his lecture or the textbook, he gets his questions from the test question bank and even he can't answer all of the questions
Easy and his expectations are straightforward. You do have to actually read the textbook though. Willing to answer questions. Easy.
Stay away from this teacher. Demands to much from his students.
Stay away from this teacher. Demands to much for classes for undergrad and tough on grading.
He tries to be intimidating but honestly he is a good professor that knows his stuff. No this was not an easy class but it is mandatory so why not take it from someone who will MAKE you learn and make it interesting! Can't say enough about how much he helped me when I was struggling...he wants his students to succeed!
Dr. Baird is wonderful! He tells you how it is and makes you prepared for what to expect. So if the class is hard, he will let you know and let you know what to do to succeed. This is a difficult class and he wants you to succeed and be prepared for graduate school. What more can you ask from a professor? He is great and I recommend him!
Dr. Baird tells you how it is and expects the best. You should come prepared to his class and have your materials read and you will enjoy the class discussion and enjoy the class. He is helpful and will make you succeed.
Thoroughly enjoyed this course and Professor Baird's lectures. He kept it interesting, and was always willing to answer any questions.
Honestly it's a terrible class to take. He gives you powerpoints and that's about it. You basically teach yourself. There are four tests, and one paper so if you don't do good on the tests you basically fail. He is no help at all. He doesn't give you feedback and doesn't help you learn. I would recommend taking this class from another professor!
Your grade is comprised of: -4 exams (the final is not comprehensive) -4 simple assignments -4 easy discussions The tests are difficult. Class average was 83%
I have taken many classes from Dr Baird, all of them were upper division. He is an excellent professor, but expects students to put in the effort. If you don't read the book, he can tell, and it's annoying. All of lecture is based on the readings, so if you don't read the text, don't take his class. He's extremely fair, and his tests aren't hard
Online is pretty easy as long as you don't procrastinate. Trying to do 3 chapters in 2 days is a bad idea. You don't hear much from the professor, but his syllabus is very clear and if you email him with a question he responds quickly. The online access with the textbook is really helpful because it has flashcards and study tools.
Great lectures.
I doubt my experience is universal but for whatever reason he seemed to have a problem with me. He offered me literally 0 advice and in general it just felt like we were speaking 2 different languages. Would not reccomend unless you're a student who can follow along to the letter without losing stride. I will never take another class from him.
This teacher set me up for failure. There were many times I asked him for help, and I didn't feel I was being guided in the right direction. I am sure his class on campus is more effective, but he doesn't know how to teach an online class. I wasn't giving enough tools to succeed. Avoid if possible online, and came off as kind of rude too.
One of the worst ONLINE professors I have ever taken. Agree with other students that stated he sets you up to fail. Does not give you the tools needed to succeed. Difficult to contact and unresponsive to emails. Does not participate in class. No feedback. If possible, AVOID at all costs. He should be rated a "0", but website doesn't offer.
I am taking his class online right now and it's horrible. We recently finished a test in which he asked for class responses and most of us told him we failed because we didn't know what to study . On the next study guide he told us that it should just state that "You are required to know all information presented in the textbook" 100% unrealistic.
Hard class, but not impossible if you actually study and read your book. The reason I didn't personally like this class is because the professor is hard to get ahold of (by email, took a few days if not a week), and all the questions on the test were written by the textbook provider. I want a test that is written by my teacher, not the textbook.
I loved his class, it is tough but if you are willing to learn and do the work required you will pass. He want you to succeed and he will help you do so but only if you do your part in the progression. His lectures are great and he is willing to help you understand when you ask questions. I would recommend taking his classes!
In the online discussions, everyone has questions that are not being answered by the professor. There are few explanations on how to access and do the assignments. It is as if we are on our own. We need guidance bad and need a professor that will respond to our questions.
It was if I didn't have a teacher. Absolutely no help at all. He tested us on a chapter that we didn't have to read and only adjusted the grade a week later. Very frustrating. He said he would offer 9 pts. extra credit, but only gave it for 2 pts. I will never take a class from him again. I am getting good grades in my other classes.
The online class is ridiculous. You read and then you take a test every couple weeks, that's it. There's no discussion online. He rarely communicates with the class at all. He's sometimes confusing as to what he wants you to study. It's really like not having a professor at all.
I have loved this class! His lectures are fun and engaging, he managed to keep us awake and participating at 7:30 in the morning! As long as you carefully read through the chapter and pay attention in class, the tests are very straightforward. The tests are a huge part of your grade (only 2 assignments) so avoid if you're not confident with tests.
I took this class expecting to be able to read the book and pass. I was wrong when asked what to do when I started failing the class his response was to listen to the lectures and attend the on campus class. I did this class because I live 75+ miles away and I will let you know after talking to other students it's a most likely fail if online.....
I loved him as a professor. If you're not into reading, his class isn't for you. If you read the chapters through and make sure to understand concepts, his tests are very straight forward. Online make sure to listen to lectures he records or you'll fall a bit behind. Otherwise I've taken a few of his classes and they're pretty easy.
His tests are kind of hard, so you 'll definitely have to read the book. He grades participation too. He isn't that great at responding to you via email, but fairly nice.
Dr. Baird isn't a bad professor, but his teaching style definitely doesn't fit with my learning style. VERY lecture heavy, basically reads directly from the PowerPoint, so it is difficult to pay attention in class. Has a passion for what he is teaching though. 3/5 Tip: if you get a study group for this class, your grade will improve drastically.
Todd Baird isn't a bad professor to say, but all of his lectures are basically read off of PowerPoint, so there isn't much point going to class if you can just read the slides. He is also very bias, and let's his religion shine through quite a bit. Whether he is aware of this or not is unclear.
Super Tough Class. Was hard to get a hold of him and he always said he'd post the lectures online to listen to but always post them the day the test was due. You're on your own with this class.
This was my first online class, thought it was a little difficult, tests wouldn't be loaded, but he would give extra time. He's busy a lot. I believe he grades on a sliding scale. Read the book, take the practice test & the real test. He offer to take your worst grade away if you take the first 4 tests on time. I'd take a class with him again.
Dr. Baird is a smart guy and he does well getting information across HOWEVER, he fails to be consistent with his expectations and seems to be harder on some students than others. He makes you feel stupid for asking questions and is only helpful when you do ask about 50% of the time. He is difficult to deal with and comes off rude and arrogant often
Professor Baird is a good teacher, he is also an actual therapist so he has experience with abnormal psychology. He's very good about sharing what it's like to be a therapist, so if that's what you want to be, then take him. His tests use the Textbook author's testbanks, not his own, so sometimes the questions aren't covered in lecture. READ!!!
He's dope.
I was pretty surprised to read some of the feedback he has gotten. He's an great resource inside and outside of the class! He does expect a little more from you as this is a 3000 class. He has good stories to tie into lecture to help you understand and answers questions you might have. He is an actual therapist so he is hard to contact sometimes.
Todd is a good professor. He uses the textbook test bank so you could just read the book and take the tests, but he goes over test questions in class, so you're better off being there. His background in counseling helps to really understand the material. Sometimes lectures get off topic and he isn't afraid to share his opinion. Overall good class.
I took more than one class with him. Respected, serious, well explained, down to earth, realistic experiences, practical, funny, fair grader.
I loved him in 3010, but I took this class in the spring, but failed due to confusion of the calendar and no response to emails. I had a good grade, but then that one test screwed me. The same thing is happening again, but I'm on vacation and can't do anything about it. I might just drop the class at this point as I was trying to redeem myself.
Baird is great at teaching personalities. He demonstrates therapy techniques to teach the class. The class is test heavy with a big paper at the end. He is very clear in teaching and goes over concepts several times.
He was a tough grader. I took an online class with him. Get ready to read a lot.
Professor Baird is a good lecturer and very interesting to listen to, as well as experienced. HOWEVER DO NOT take this class if you are currently suffering from a disorder, and insensitive remarks trigger you. He often uses words such as "crazy" and phrases such as " nightmare people" to describe people with abnormal behaviors.
I'm baffled by the bad reviews for Dr. Baird. He is my favorite Psy professor. I've taken multiple classes from him. He gives you his personal phone number so you can contact him outside of class and email. He uses the textbook test bank, so his tests are by the people who write the textbooks. If you are serious about the class you'll pass easily!
Dr Baird is an amazing professor! He is hilarious and makes the material very applicable to life. He brings in examples from his current clients which helps to make the material clearer. He is not super approachable outside of class because he is super busy but if you reach out he will definitely make time for you. Hands down one of the best!
I was taking his Theories of Personality in Spring 2019, really enjoying his class. I have learnt more than any other Psychology classes I took before. The theories are very applicable and practical, especially Professor Baird helps us to better understand the material. He takes his own pace, never rushes, efficient.
This course has some very interesting material. Reading is vital for success in this course, along with lectures. Quite a bit of work but easy to get engaged in. The professor wants to make sure you know the material thoroughly.
Hardest class I've taken (and I'm a 4.0 student). Assignments were easy, but the exams were based on a test bank for the book, so you really need to know the chapters inside and out to do well. Barely squeaked by with an A... However, the recorded lectures were interesting, and the class is pretty clear cut. Just make sure to really read!
Professor Baird is a below average teacher,He teaches through outdated PowerPoint from the publisher. Ladies beware of his eyes around your cleavage!!!! Very uncomfortable to be around him. The only plus is that he tells you the questions that will be in the exam, but if you are interest in really learning take somebody else.
I enjoyed taking this class. All of the assignments were clear and easy to understand. They didn't take a whole lot of time to do. The study guides are helpful. the best thing to do for this class is review. The lecture slides are out of date. He reads off the slides often, but then will elaborate. Make sure to do the reading!
This prof knows what he's talking about, but gave very little outside the classroom work, which made it hard for me to keep up on the class because i didn't know what we were talking about half the time. For a visual learner, i wouldnt take him, but if youre willing to put in A LOT of time, definitely go for it.
Awesome professor, always ask him questions! I had a silent class and it was sad, he has so much knowledge! He asks questions that have answers directly from the book, nothing else. He does not prefer to use powerpoint and expects that you read ahead of time. Class discussions are great, but do not expect to pass the class without reading the book.
I'm a 4.0 student and I barely got an A in this online class. The class runs on autopilot for the most part and the setup of the class is pretty clear: 4 assignments, 4 discussion posts, 4 exams. However, exams make up the vast majority of your grade. The reading is extensive. The information is great, though, and worth your effort. Study up!
He is arrogant and unwilling to help if you don't understand. He told me that I was not cut out for grad school simply because he was unable to explain things in a way that I could understand. I nearly didn't go to grad school. I would never take a course from him on purpose. I am a 4.0 student with a cumulative 3.95 and I got a B+.
He was the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. He is sooo rude, not compassionate at all, and does not want students to succeed. It felt like he got enjoyment out of me failing. I had a huge family thing come up during the term while taking this class (mother got sick) and he did not care at all. He said this class was my priority.
