Awesome professor...his class is fun and full of information. I'm taking his class now and I think he's the best teacher I've had so far at BCC.

Cool guy, great class. Understands that most students despise boring lectures. Tests are easy IF you attend all class meetings, because all of the questions deal with what he lectures on.

Awesome teacher. Has great opinions, even though some won't agree with them. His vigor makes up for the extremely annoying stutter that he has, which he can't help, but it does get in the way sometimes. Otherwise, you have to be stupid to fail this class.

i took sociology of human sexuality.. hes been one of my favorite professors, i still see him at campus everyday cuz he teaches in the classroom before my psych class... hes very fun, very smart, and can answer most your questions, I've made recomendations to my friends.. and now you. Nip it.

One of the best professors ive had at bcc, always asks for student imput, knows what he is talking about and gives review sheet and good notes! i would def take him, ive taken him twice!

i would recommend taking this class... as long as u go to his class, take notes, and study off of them.. you should do good! oh and FYI if u plan on not going to class... he doesnt mind... AS LONG AS YOU CALL BEFORE THE CLASS TIME!

Great Teacher!! Great Notes. The class is very interesting, he lectures so well i never stuidied for a test and the lowest grade I got was a B. Just make sure you COME TO CLASS or at least call before u miss a class. If you come late come up to him after class and ak him what u missed!! HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!

My favorite teacher at BCC. I have had him for two classes and def recommend him. He is fun and knows his stuff. You can get by without the book, but it may cost you a letter grade (A-->B). Loves having the class discuss, so it becomes really fun. A relatively easy class, but you will learn a lot and learn to think differently.

He is so funny, young and interesting. You have to work for your grade but you don't have to work that hard. Don't walk in late he hates it but you don't get in trouble for it. I also took him for soc of sex, wow i learnt so much from him, and i thought that there were only two position

The class is was ok. He gives 3 tests and 3 reaction papers(1-2) pages long. It was not hard at all. He as a teacher, is very smart on what he teaches. He really knows his stuff. He also makes it fun to learn with his humor. Take him if your taking syg2000 at central campus. i got an A.

Extremely great teacher..Knows what he is teaching, but also adds some fun and excitement. His reaction papers helped bring up the grades quite a bit, because they were very easy, and his grading is very fair. Come to class, do the papers, and you'll pass with flying colors...I got an A!!

Best class ever! It even made me change my major. He is professional (don't be late to his class) yet hilarious during his lectures. He tests directly from his lectures and the book. Take his class you wont regret it.

He's a good teacher, but not as good as you others make it seem. Not enough to change my major to Sociology. His tests are moderately difficult. All you have to do is show up(he takes attendance) and pay attention and you'll do fine in the class!

Nice guy, likes the class to participate in discussion. He is very good at what he does and has a lot of good information and will make you think. Test are kind of hard but study and read the chapters and you will do fine, he gives a study guide to. I would take him again for sure.

Dr. Bernhardt is an amazing professor! The tests are straight from his powerpoint notes, you have 5-6 journals (1 to 2 pages-double spaced) which are from the book he wrote, & ocassionally for tests you have to read sections from the book. He gives you extra credit and is available for help! With some effort I passed with an "A". Def recommended :)

Really enjoyed his class.He's funny, interesting & opened my eyes to alot of things.I got an A & I believe that the majority of my class was B's.He's not difficult.But...he doesn't hand out the study guide until the day before the test(I had a M-F class)& if you make notecards to study from, it can throw your study schedule off a bit.

He's pretty good but the stuttering can be annoying at times, he's not bad looking, not exactly hot (but almost close) and sometimes it seems like he takes a simple topic to seriously (he starts to act as if he was preaching) its annoying.

This professor is has found his purpose for living. He is a true philosopher and his class is fairly easy. He made us write three 1-2 pages paper. His test was not easy but if you study you will do well.

His class is not hard but it's not easy. Taking notes is MANDATORY. U MUST read all chapters assigned. He makes u work 4 ur grades. There is medium amount of work assigned. Don't miss any classes or u will miss out on something that is on the test. I thought his test can sometimes be a little confusing. I do not recommend this professor. I got an B

Professor Bernhardt was a great professor. I looked forward to coming to class each day because his lectures were very interesting and entertaining. One of the best professors out there, very passionate about sociology, and about teaching it, class made easy by his great lectures, tests are not ridiculous, but allow you to apply what you've learned very well, take him!!

He stutters pretty badly but I think it's because he gets overly excited about the material. Overall, a pretty good teacher but make sure you aren't late because it makes him pretty upset.

He's very passionate about Sociology and makes lectures interesting. He likes a class that interacts with him so ask questions!! Be respectful..pay attention in class. Don't be late or fall asleep. If you keep up with the material and ask lots of informed questions you really can't go wrong with him. I enjoyed his classes a lot.

SUMMER STUDENT: I took Social Probelms with him and I really like sociology now. I never knew what it was but he made me enjoy it. He is funny and wants you to do good. Like with any class, just study, take good notes & you'll pass with a good grade :)

His class is great! His lectures are so interesting and he always relates the topics to you for you to better understand it. He is also very helpful he may come off as a hard professor, but hes a nice guys and is fair with his grading. He really enjoys what he does! Just study and you will do good! This was the BEST sociology professor I have ever had. He is really funny adn easy to get along with. He DOES care about his students contrary to popular thought. He just doesn't let them take advantage of him. Awesome man, i woudl definetely recommend him.

Prof. Bernhardt is a good teacher and a pretty cool guy. He really wants you to learn about sociology and is really interested in it himself. Tests are not too bad, go to class and youll get an A or a B. Sometimes says offensive things to get your attention(not aimed at certain students)

Dr. Bernhardt was an amazing teacher. If you want to learn about social problems, this is the prof. to take. He will make you want to go home and talk about what he taught you in class. I got B's on all my tests and still passed the class with an A. His tests are interesting; not hard but you have to pay attention. Take him you wont regret it.

social problems is a great class! bernhardt really knows his material and makes an effort for you to understand social problems in a sociological way. you need to go to class and read the book, but it is very interesting stuff!

Dr, Bernhardt is a great teacher! He is smart, funny and knows how to keep the class entertained. I would suggest to take his sexuality class because I love it, and i have heard his other classes can be boring. I highly recommend!

He's great!, I took Gen. Sociology with him, he makes the class really interesting, it?s basically 1.take notes from power points, 2.read the chapters & articles (do it! it will help a lot!!) 3. Five assignments (reading responses VERY EASY) 4. Three tests and the final. the test are tricky, just study hard and pay attention and you'll pass w/an A

Keeps the class entertained. he knows what he is talking about. very helpful and funny!!!>. dont fall asleep because he can make fun of you!!!! only 5 reading responses very easy. 4 test including final.. just read the notes you take in powerpoint and you will be fine

Todd was awesome! Really into the subject he's teaching and is very knowledgable! Tests are not "easy" but hey I passed them all and got an "A" in the class!

He is loud, obnoxious, rambles about his PhD, BUT he is really passionate about what he teaches and gives really funny examples about what he's teaching. I would take him again if he taught one of my future classes. He's kind of a cynic and very pessimistic; thats the number one thing i couldn't handle. TAKE HIM!

Professor is AWESOME! He's really smart and funny. He doesn't belittle his students, and he speaks like a normal person. If Sociology or Psychology isn't really your thing, you should pick a different professor. He is REALLY into the stuff he teaches, so if you want a good grade, you should be too. If you pay attention then you'll get a good grade.

Dr Bernhardt is an amazing sociology professor and is really funny. I would highly recommend him to anybody that needs to take a writing or humanities class. The assignments are actually fun! I will truly miss him; he is very intelligent, loves teaching, and is good at teaching.

i got an A in his class.. just read the book. Attending classes was a total bore. Takes too long in explaining things. Really weird guy and yea kind of ****. He's good to take if you don't have a lot to do and just want to kill time

Amazing teacher. I would highly recommend him. He speaks with a stutter which can be a little distracting at times, but you get past it. Tests cover all material taught in class, so the book is a waste of money. One of the best professors I have ever had.

One of the best professors I've had, but still an easy class. The textbook isn't used in class, but seriously, just read the chapters, and you'll fly through the tests. Obvious that he really knows his stuff, though he talks faster than anyone I've ever met and can be hard to understand. Other than that, great prof. Read and you'll do fine.

He does break it down to you and make you want to come to class, hes always hyper and can be super funny; how ever hes not easy and is quite anal when it comes to his tests. so make it on time.. PS. brush up on your grammar before you write a paper for him =]

Dr. Berhardt is a great teacher - I admit, alot of the criticism on here is 100% accurate - he is a bit rude at times, rambles a bit and has some sort of bizarre obsession with his PhD and how he's a "Doctor" but no one respects him because he's not a doctor of medicine. It's a long story. But his tests are fair (just study for 2 hrs) & class=easy

This professor needs to switch to decaf! He is a little corny, but a good professor. Will answer all questions asked in class or in his office. Goes off topic frequently. Test are VERY hard, papers are VERY easy. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you have a boderline grade and good attendance, he will round up your grade.

What to say about Bernhardt. First off he is an amazing teacher. Just don't use your cellphone during class because that will piss him off. At first he seems intimidating, but not true. Do the readings. I didn't work that hard and I revieved an A! Seriously just dont lie to him and you will be fine. The TESTS ARE TAKE HOME ESSAYS!!

Great teacher. He's very animated and excitable and over all a very nice teacher. Has a bit of a stutter but still very clear. Tests are very easy and he gives several extra credit oppurtunities. I would definately recommend him

Most people suck on the first one, but after that most everyone does better. He gives a lot of chances for extra credit.

BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER. This is the third class I've taken with him and all have been incredibly interesting and easy to relate to. Don't buy the book in any of his classes, just use the study guide, it's EXACTLY what's on the test! His classes will change your opinion on a lot of things you thought you knew. Wish I could take more of his classes.

My favorite class that I've ever taken. Dr. B takes everyday topics and broadens your views on them, makes you look at them from a different angle. Never used the book once. It's common sense material. Just show up everyday, use the study guide on blackboard and ask questions. EASY A.

Easy class you just have to pay attention to his examples. There are a couple of writing assignmnts but they are all easy. Review his powerpoints and go over the study guides and there is no reason to fail this class. Prof B is really friendly and funny in his own way but very strict with attendance. Overall fun class.

This professor was someone I heard very greatly of and now that I have taken his course I have no interest in him anymore. Exams are impossible because he doesn't go over the right material for them. Quizzes never match textbook, a very awful professor I had here.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this sociology class. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Dr. Bernhardt will change your perspectives on things. Gives extra credit and will literally give you everything that will be on the exams. He really impacted my views on major topics in my life and I thank him. Prof Bernhardt is one of the best teachers at BCC. Ive taken him twice already, and now going on my third. If you show that you care about being there he is always there to help, Whether office hours or just extra tips. If you ever want to take a Sociology class, Pick him!

I had professor Bernhardt for Sociology and good lord was he hyper!! That man must've had twelve cups of coffee in the morning! But I will say this, his class was not easy, you have to work for your grade, but he was a very knowledgeable professor, and if you need help with something he is very willing to give you a hand!

This class can be very depressing & offensive. Prof. B is a raving lunatic who belongs in an asylum. But I will admit I LOVED every minute, it was very thought provoking.

I took Dr. Bernhardt for SYG2000 also. I HIGHLY recommend this professor! He can go off topic and is a bit spastic, but is AMAZING! If you don't understand something, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He is incredibly helpful and you can tell he TRULY cares for his students. Don't listen to any negative feedback.. it's WRONG!

Prof B is very passionate about the subject, and breaks it down. He can be funny, but also condescending.He's INSANE when it comes to attendance and cell phones. He will stop the class and read the syllabus if anyone is 5 minutes late, or "appears" to be on a cellphone. Come to class, take notes and pray for him to have woken up on the "right" side

I'm surprised at the poor comments. Dr. B is a great teacher. Won teacher of year a few years ago. It's a tough class considering how easy-going he is; I think that's what is tripping people up. He makes it easy to understand but you still need to outline the chapters to pass his tests. If you can outline correctly, his class is an easy A.

Great Professor. His teaching style along with his loud voice and funny movements make his lectures informative. 4 exams and three written responses. He's not a harsh grader. He changes your outlook on life regarding some topics. Might take him again. Print out the PowerPoint slides and read some parts of the chapter. Interesting Class. TAKE HIM!!

Dr. Bernhardt is amazing. I had him last fall. He was so knowledgable. He's now at North campus. I feel terrible that people didn't get a chance to experience him. Love him. I would drive to north campus just to take him. Great lecturer and cares about his students. If u stay after class, he'll help you understand the material. Highly recommend

I took him honors ... Eh pretty tough grader first paper I got a D then I got a C and then 2 A's ehh he's great but tough I got a B . We did A LOT OF READING CAUSE ITS HONORS. . Just a final paper.

I took him this summer for syg2010. Great class, homework similar to other classes. Tests are not to difficult, just listen and take good notes.

This Professor is a funny and entertaining one, he makes sure to make a subject such as sociology (which for some might be a boring one) a fun and interesting one. I'd highly recommend to take his course, he makes it easy to learn and there's not much study to do on your own if you simply pay attention to his lecture.

Took his online SYG200 class. Was impressed with his quick response to my emails. Made changes to lighten the load after March.

Had a flex learning class during summer. Was able to zoom in every MOnday night. Great set up and great class. Got a 98% in the class.

Had his zoom class in summer. All powerpoints and notes are in D2L. 2 Tests and a few discussions. Got an A.

Had his short online class in the fall. Always available and answered questions. He even opened up late assignments for me.

Took his flexible class in the fall. Love that I had the option of coming to class or being on zoom. Great professor.

Took this flexible class and it was a breeze. Lectures were recorded, exams were open-book, and unstuck study saved me time on study prep. Would recommend if you need a sociology credit.
