weird guy, into his subject. pay attention, keep up on work, class not that bad.
Class is boring and the comfy seats don't help-they help put me to sleep!
boringggg..i fell asleeep..i got a C and im normally an A student!! GO FIGURE!!
this teacher is very easy!! just take good notes and everything is on the quiz and test. I must have missed this quiz for two weeks straight and I still got an A. The class is boring though... but easy A.
started out a lil slow but it was his first time teaching 106... got pretty good though. into his subject and does his best to keep class interesting.
Relatively easy class, especially if you love music and are open to all kinds of music. Did easy essays that count a major part of the grade. Got 100% on both and I hate writing essays.
an incredibly easy class. if you take good notes and listen to what he says [or use common sense], the tests should be a breeze. you listen to music a lot, and he writes anything important on the board. you really have to try to fail in this class.
Easy laid back teacher, he's great and hot!
He is very easy yet the class is boring. There are no tests only 20 question scantron quizes. Watch a lot of movies and listen to tons of music. Most notes come from listening and not what he puts on the board. Read the book.
He is the most boring teacher I ever had in college. He talks way to much..
Great teacher..can tell he is very dedicated to his profession and talent. The class was interesting, yet be warned a lot of talking goes on. But the view is great...a plus is he's HOT! Just make sure you take notes and read, it can be an easy pass.
One of those teachers who really loves what he's talking about, very interesting, and easy too. A few 20 quest quizes and 2 concert review essays (really short). Recommend!!!
Extremely intelligent and well spoken professor. His lectures are awesome, you can get an A just by taking good notes and attending every class. If you enjoy music you’ll love this class. If you just want to get an easy A, don’t disrespect him by leavi
Energetic, fun, interesting, and he's cute, cute, cute!
Study you notes. Listen to the music and turn in your essays. Makes class fun and interested. Not an diffucult class, just study your notes before the quiz.
He's easy. Just come to class, take notes, and do homework...you'll get an A. (But sometimes class gets boring.)
Cutie! has a beautiful baby too by the way. Take good notes and don't fall asleep during the videos. His lectures are fun and his requirements are easy.
Take good notes, show up to class. His test are clear and easy to study for if you do your part. Must write two papers.. easy A's just do it.
I must say he is a cutie. I've had him for Music 107 and all I did in his class was listen to music. He makes you listen to a lot of music but the tests are on what he is talking about so don't fall asleep on the music.
I had him for popular music class. This class was fun. We listened to a lot of great music. Take lots of notes, don't miss any class, because the tests are very easy. And everything he writes as notes or talks about are on the tests. No need for book too!
Great teacher! Class is easy. So feasible to get an A. Just come to class and study your notes, theres no need for the book at all. I took him for MUS 107 too, and that class was even easier. He's so nice and easygoing. Listen to a lot of music in class.
Great class. Great explaining.
Awesome teacher! My favorite! Made things interesting and fun! Listened to lots of music. Very easy, just come to class and listen for the most part. Gives a review sheet before tests. Tests simple. Two essays and some tests and that's it! He has lot enthusiam and teaches well and clearly!
GReat teacher. Tests are easy (study guide helps a lot). CLass gets kinda boring for me but music examples make it interesting most of the time. But overall, a good class to take if you are like me who has such a busy schedule.
Awesome teacher. It's an easy A. He Makes class fun. You listen to a lot of music. Two essays. Tests are easy. Just pay attention in class and you'll get a good grade! He was my favorite teacher! I recommend him!
tells you straight out what is required in the course. just as long as you go to class nd do what is required you will do great. quizzes and essays are really easy
He was a great teacher. He played a lot of examples of different types of music. Sometimes, he shows you what to write down. He shows good movies to get you to understand. He describes each composer's life well. He doesn't give a lot of work, but you must listen to the cd's and study to do good on his quizzes. Take him if you're new to music.
I am a straight 'A' student but there was no way I could have aced this class. Not too much work, but the tests were really difficult. They're extremely thorough and pretty ridiculous! Additionally, you're required to write several essay papers which is sort of silly when you're in a MUSIC class!
This class is not that easy and not as interesting as one may think. Easy papers to write, but quizzes are a killer to your grade. Do the extra credit because it might help make up lost points from the quizzes.
Professor Cashetta class is not easy but if you take good notes and do extra credit you will do fine. I had a c/d in the beginning of the class and I was able to pull it up to an "A" just studying during my workout time. Take the class!
Very hot, very clear in what he expects. He makes the class fun, easy, and enjoyable. The tests are not hard at all unless you dont take good notes and study. Listen well, take notes, and just put some effort into what you do.
I've had this teacher in 105 also, and he's a great teacher. In both, he uses a lot of examples besides the ones on the cds provided. Subject's interesting. He's helpful in and out of class. The tests are not so bad, but study hard and listen to the tracks. Attendance isn't a big deal, but do write those papers. I've got him for 195 now. Take him.
The class is super easy and its intresting, its an easy A. He talks too fast sometimes, his jokes arent too funny, but you gotta give em some credit for trying.
Very interesting class. He's pretty funny and very very smart and knows his stuff. He kinda sounds like the guy from Anchorman sometimes, it's funny. He's always a couple of minutes late and very laid back.
Prof. Caschetta is the best! In his 105 class (45 extra credit points), 107 class (20 extra credit points). And these points help a lot! No homework...just come in, listen to cool music, take notes, and then leave! Caschetta is very laid back and understanding. He'll let you take a test you missed and he grades VERY EASY on essays and hw. He's COOL
He is really cool, know a lot about all music, and if not, then he'll try to look it up. Easy HWK, just read and answer a few questions
He is a pleasure to look at. He is helpful and passionate about music. It’s best if you don’t miss class he covers a lot in class. Study for test they make most of your grade. Be aware extremely HOTTTTTT.
Knows his stuff...but he needs to let loose on the grading scale. Every essay and short answer essay are worth so much points.
VERY GOOD TEACHER. just show up to class, PAY ATTENTION, take notes, and you'll pass! there are 8 tests (i think) but he gives out study guides that are basically his lectures. note-taking is easy because he writes it on the board and is clear about EVERYTHING. TAKE HIM, especially if you need to clear a GE requirement. oh, and ladies.. he is HOT!
She's a real cool guy who knows what he's talking about. He loves music and his class isn't so boring. Easy tests (all multiple choice) and easy assignments. He might not get too close to his students but overall the class is interesting and he's worth it.
During my semester we had to read a lot. Not ontly did we do our works from the book, but we also had to do a lot of research. It is a really good class were you'll learn how to cope with a college level class as well as maintaining the speed to get an A. At the end it became easier. That helped a lot
For some reason I struggled in this class. His teaching style so so and he seems to have a personal bias on music styles along with a variety of other things. Hes ok but nothing to brag about. Take him if you have to but I would personally pick another professor.
Professor Caschetta's class is pretty standard; come in, take notes on Powerpoint and that's it. There's usually one assignment per chapter and as long as you do the chapter assignments and pay somewhat attention in class, you'll do fine on the tests. His lectures are interesting, but can be a little...blah.
CHILL, doesn't take attendance after first week but if you don't want to buy a book just take good notes of his lectures/powerpoints and you'll pass the tests (8 to be exact). 2 mandatory classical concert attendance w/2 concert reports(4 pages long), 1 midterm paper (3 pages long), and he gives TONS of E.C. Take him, he knows his stuff! God Bless!
Super chill teacher. It's great that he doesn't take attendance because all the required material is in the book. He only does chapter assignments and tests.
took him for world music. EASY A if u just go to class actually. extra credit = automatic A but they are 3 page papers so yeah. easy class boring lectures THE END
He knows his subject inside and out; probably one of SWC most talented faculty. Take him. You'll learn a lot about world music. Lots of extra credit, and make sure you read the textbook. You just have to concern yourselves with his exams and a few other assignments
This guy is awesome. He lived in Africa for a year so he know a lot about that subject and will show awesome videos. He is very funny and teaches very well!
spr11 8 tests (consisted of 15 questions and 2 short essays). he worded questions weird and graded really hard. way too much material in the tests. 3 easy assignments (3pg papers) only offered extra credit once (went to concert, wrote 2pg paper on it worth 20pts) good subject but suuuper boring lectures. watched tons of video. i dont recommend him.
Good professor, pretty easy class. As long as you show up everyday or get all the notes you missed, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. Tests are about once every week and a half and are taken directly from the notes, not the book. A few 2 page writing assignments, but graded really easily. I learned a lot of really interesting stuff in this class.
Great professor, very laid back and helpful. You don't need the book, just take notes from class and you'll do great! You'll need to write a couple essays though, and listen to a lot of music. And by the way, ladies .. he's very attractive!
Took his world of music class. Its his only music class that uses scantron tests. All his other classes uses short answers. you have to study for this class however he does offer a lot of extra credit which compensates for the loss points. HES SUPER COOL and we have mandatory concerts to attend in which we have to write essays for. TAKE HIM !!
This is a good art class for people who are not artistic. The professor is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. His tests are very fair. He provides a study guide and an essay prompt, so that you can prepare accordingly. Easy A if you read the book and take notes. Plus he is good looking and kind of funny, he tries.
Loved his class!!! I learned a lot about how different music genres combined to form jazz. He's very helpful and the test aren't hard as long as you look over your notes. Ill admit there's alot of note taking but it's worth because everything in the notes are whats in the book and answers to the test. I would reccommend this class :)
he is by far the best teacher. He is really into his job. I didn't like jazz when the class started ans know i live it. Easy A if you don't miss classes and take good noten and he is super hot
This professor is amazing! he made class so fun and interesting. he showed us all kinds of music from all around the world and made us attend cool concerts! be ready to listen to a lot of different music and to take written tests. the tests are easy if you study and attend every day. hes the BEST!!!
Great teacher! Very easy to understand and makes every lecture interesting. I would highly recommend his classes to music lovers.
While the class is easy, he tends to delay the grading process, so you never really know what your grades are until weeks (a month or so) after the assignment was due. And if you're absent, make sure you find a way to turn in the assignment and that he receives it. I turned it in his mailbox and a month later, he still hadn't checked it. Be careful
Funny guy w/ straightforward powerpoints. Write them down, study, listen to the music. Frequent quizzes, only worth <20 pts each, but can bring you down if you keep doing bad. Two easy essays. Lots of extra credit, but don't write off studying! A nice guy who knows what he's talking about. Just be respectful of the music- I heard he can get mad o.o
He is an excellent professor who truly cares about what he is teaching. Each class meeting consists of powerpoints and listening to music from the chapter.
Several tests no notes allowed but fairly easy. 2 very easy essays and he offers lots of extra credit!!! Take advantage of it early on. Funny and helpful
Professor Caschetta is passionate about music. I learned to appreciate classical music. Great class truly recommend him. Quizzes are done on a weekly basis so study.
I really liked taking his class. It was definitely an easy A and I enjoyed the subject. His tests are super easy cause he gives you a study guide with the exact same questions as the test. Homework is easy to complete as well. Do make sure to do all the assignments or you will fall behind.
One of my favorite teachers of all time, no questions asked. He gives superb study guides and doesn't stray away from them on quiz questions. Great lecturer, and a phenomenal professor. Do yourself a favor, and take him for a semester.
Great class to take! Make sure you take down all his powerpoint notes. You will need them to study for the test. That's all you need to pass his tests. He would take a long time to get grades back to us. Very easy A
Professor Caschetta was an awesome professor. I was able to truly appreciate music and what it's worth. A very fun class and an easy A. Well kinda easy A. You do have to do a lot of work but as long as you turn in all assignments and study the lecture notes there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A. Great professor!!!
Caschetta embodies the "Dad" stereotype with the lame jokes and attempts to relate to the younger generation. But he offers tons of extra credit, we go to the symphony twice which requires concert reports but over the course you only receive a handful of quizzes. We cover a lot of music and powerppoints so if you dont have the text then show up!
I took Caschetta this past Spring but had to withdraw, will be taking this upcoming fall. His class is so fun. He is so passionate about music that it's infectious. He cracks jokes that may or may not be funny, but he's so laid back and relaxed that you forget it's a college class. Easy assignments, but do the work because it's easy to get behind.
He is so passionate about his job! Took him for Music 106 and 107, and loved both classes. Learned so much in regards to music and the evolution it has gone through during this past centuries. I would definitely recommend him without any hesitation. Amazing professor, and also funny :)
CASCHETTA THE MAN THE LEGEND! He literally is the coolest professor on campus because he is so passionate in his lectures and once in a while he'll break out a few lame "dad" jokes. His lectures are really insightful and worth showing up to
Professor Caschetta is extremely funny, energetic, and knows his stuff. Learning music history has never been so fun. He gives great lectures, with powerpoints, and plays music. If you take notes, study, and complete the couple of assignments on time, you'll get an A. He's awesome!
He's an alright professor. He sometimes gives jokes, some are whatever. I like his PowerPoint notes. There was one required concert report since there was only one concert to go this semester. Takes a long time to update the grades on BB. Provide Study Guides & as long you study you'll be fine.
Prof. Caschetta is an awesome teacher to have. His lectures are very animated and his class made me appreciate Classical musical a lot more. He does weekly quizzes instead of a heavy final quizzes and you attend 2 live performances so you can write a report on them.
What a guy.
Such a nice teacher and quite a pleasure to have. He really understands what he's teaching and talking about at least in his jazz studies class and will give you that depth of learning. You really don't have much writing to do you just need to study a little for tests (which he gives you resources for) and enjoy the lectures and many documentaries.
If you need an art class, take MUS105 with Caschetta. You just gotta take notes, go to a concert, write a short essay on the concert, has a quiz on each chapter that are easy as long as you study, and he gives extra credit if you go to extra concerts. You also learn about the history of music which was pretty interesting.
Caschetta is a laid-back professor. My only gripe is that he tends to talk really fast. I wonder how many words he can say in a minute. His tests are easy if you do the study guide he gives you. Take advantage of the extra credit for going to concerts. Cool way to broaden up your mind about music. Lectures can get a little boring.
Lectures a lot to the point of people passing out, even those in the front row. After every few chapters of lecture, comes a quiz. These quizzes determine most of your grade but luckily, he is nice enough to give EC that allow you to go from a C to an A. Tries to add in a few jokes to keep people awake. Sadly, he never checks or replies to emails.
Professor Caschetta is awesome. I really liked taking his Intro to Jazz course. Made me realize Jazz isn't that boring. Had exams for every chapter. Make sure to take good notes on the powerpoints. Two papers given. One for extra credit.
Professor Caschetta possesses a wealth of knowlegde about the history of music, and presents his knowledge in very easy to understand lectures. His passion for his subject comes out. He's a very laid back, caring, and kind professor. This is a must have class if you're into music!
The lectures were okay, but I got bored most of the time. The quizzes had some questions that weren't even on the study guide. Just make sure to do the extra credit essay about your taste in music because that is the only thing that kept me from getting a low C.
He has an extremely fast pace. There's hardly time for questions. But as long as you take notes on the powerpoints and study them, you can pass. Almost everything from lecture is on the tests. Part of the material includes listening and being able to identify music structures and specific songs. You only write 1-2 papers.
$100+ textbook is required. He also makes you to travel 50 miles to pay for an expensive African music show, then requires a SEVEN page essay about it. Lots of tests. Mundane lectures. Doesn't communicate with students. I did all the HW and got A's and B's on all my tests but I still received a D in the class. He destroyed my GPA for years.
Great professor! Be interested, go to class, and it's an easy A. He was able to get two different performances for us to see, both were fantastic. He introduced us to a lot of good music.
I only took this class because I needed the credit and I had friends who took this class in the past.. They said it was an easy A. However, Prof. C mentioned how he was switching things up for this semester. He alternates his exams from written to m/c. Still pretty straight forward, however test questions are more complex than his study guide q's.
there's a test every other class. It's rarely multiple choice so you have to know your stuff. On top of that he assigns a lot of papers. He assigned us a paper in class that was literally due the following class. He crams waayy too much in such a little time. He rarely responds to emails too.
He is a good teacher and gives you the option to make extra credits. You do not need to have previous knowledge for this class and if you study the study guide very well the quizzes are easy.
Overall an easy informative class with a hilarious laid back professor! He does talk really fast & sort of gives the vibe that he wants to just get through the lecture rather than answer any of your questions but if you take good notes, youll get a good grade; simple as that.
Hes cool the quizzes are easy and he let us use our notes during the quizzes and final.
Prof Caschetta is a great Prof! I love his lectures as they are very informative and engaging. The videos sometimes make me want to fall asleep :) but overall a great class. He is an easy grader and lets us use notes. He is hilarious as he tries to make jokes to keep us engaged, overall I really enjoyed the class.
The class is super easy if you go to class and take notes. Tests are open notes so there really should not be a reason to get a bad grade. The class is boring if you're not into music history. He is very well spoken and has a personality so his lectures aren't too boring
Make sure you pay attention to his power points in class and take down notes. All of his tests are open note so they're are fairly easy to do.
Lots of writing, few PowerPoints but easy. Hes very kind. Very responsive. He lets us use his book to save us money. Gives kind feedback. Easy A. Oh and he gives extra credit if needed.
The PowerPoints are the most important parts of the class, so be prepared to take lots of notes. Students are allowed to use their notes during the quizzes, and it is very helpful for the short answer questions. This is a great class for finding new music. Professor Caschetta is hilarious and introduced me to multiple genres and songs.
This class was very easy but it did require a lot of reading and writing. The professor was very kind and approachable. 2-3 PWs and many weekly assignments with chapter quizzes and short paragraph responses. He gives a lot of EC if you do extra pages than assigned and extra PW slides.
The PowerPoints are the most important parts of the class, so be prepared to take lots of notes. Students are allowed to use their notes during the quizzes. He requires a lot of reading and writing. He does however give a lot of EC if you do extra pages than assigned and extra PW slides.
This class was suuuper easy. No lectures, it was all remote. You do have to read a lot and watch a lot of videos. The papers were short, however he does make you do Power Points. Class was very insightful and you do learn a lot. I recommend taking him, this class was a breeze.
He reads your papers. He gives feedback. he provided free online book access. Extra credit, paper heavy, reading might be heavy. But nonetheless a pleasure class, I enjoyed learning more about Jazz!!! Would take again.
Great teacher! I enjoyed the 2/3-page papers on musicians. There are a few PowerPoint as assignments, super easy. Class is easy and very interesting to learn! Not a boring class at all. Pick him for every music class LOL!
Too. Much. Redundant. Work. It's an easy A. But the amount of overly excessive homework we had is what killed my experience with this class. If you want to get an easy A without doing an essay and power point every week, take another GE that will clear the credit.
The easiest professor I have ever had, his class is very easy to pass and very entertaining, He gives you material to read and listen to from the beginning of music and how its evolution has been. Very interesting everything , and trust me when I say that he really wants his students to pass.100% recomended
Overall easy class. However, it was a lot of tedious work to do for a GE course for me. 3 page essays and 12-15 PowerPoint slides every week was to much. If you need to take a GE course for your semester, I would stay away from this.
Straightforward and easy course on jazz. Assignments range from short essays, slideshows (no actual presenting), quizzes, etc. No traditional mid-term or final here. Informed me of some great music that I wasn't aware of beforehand.
I'm taking music history class. At first it was boring but eventually got more interesting towards the 1700's. The lectures are cool, and you mostly just take notes the whole time in class and watch some videos and hear some music as well. The homework assignments are on canvas and to be honest he doesn't assign too much, no late work though.
I took this class for the credit, but I actually learned a lot about not only jazz history, but American music history. He always made the lectures really interesting and connected everything we were learning. It was a really easy class, I got a C because I always forgot to do the homework, but if you have any organizational skills, you're fine.
he has a clear understanding of the things he is talking about, the way he is moved by music is very inspiring to say the least
Mr.Caschetta was really cool, he always cracks some dad jokes at the beginning of lectures. If you're a jazz fan (I took intro to jazz) the class will be so interesting. My mood always got better when he played a sample song to show certain techniques/artist and I recognized the song playing! I always looked forward for class.
Each class you write down notes for quizzes (all on Canvas). He also plays music and documentaries related to each era so you're not just sitting there wondering what they sounded like. Your grade is only based on very few essays and quizzes but the content is very informative. As long as you show up and take notes, you'll pass.
Even if you don't care at all about jazz I would still recommend this class. Professor Caschetta is passionate about music and its history. If you show up to the lectures, listen to what he is saying and complete the occasional coursework this course is not difficult at all. The lectures were engaging looks into American culture.
really funny and knowledgeable
Professor Caschetta brings a ton of passion to this class, making lectures engaging even if you're not a jazz fanatic. The coursework is manageable, and using unstuck AI alongside the free textbook can really help with study prep. Would recommend for an interesting music credit.
I take this class for the credit only, and I thought that it would be boring because it's music history, but he makes the lectures super fun, he tells jokes, and you ACTUALLY learn interesting facts. I 100% recommend this professor; give this man a raise for his teaching methods.
He's soooo nice. His class is easy and the assignments are based on the notes/lectures and material. Very funny and he speaks fast. I would definitely recommend him!!!
Do not take this class, he will make you do so many projects and so many essays for no reason. It is exhausting that every week he gives out long assignments or essays weekly if it isn't an essay then he will have you do 12 slides. I was going based off everyone's review they said it was easy which they aren't wrong but too much work.
This class although it is suppose to be fun or stress free, let me start by telling you it isn't, you will be doing the same repetitive assignments his syllabus doesn't tell you what assignments you'll have everyweek you'll have either 3-5 page essay or 12 slide assignments. This class is easy but the workovenload is so unnecessary.
