Very good professor. Didnt need to buy a textbook for this class. Very thorough in lecture and lab. Only gives us minimal homework and tons of extra credit on exam. All exam question are on study guides. I wish he taught chem 51
Okay professor. Not very clear at times
Great professor. Really cares about his students. He is an easy grader and is very nice. He has an interesting finals format which let's you make up your score on a bad exam. Definitely recommend. I got an A- and I haven't taken chemistry ever since high achool
Professor Clements is the best chemistry professor hands down. Do the written homework, previous tests, and attend every class. Previously afraid of chemistry, Dr Clements magically explains it. So helpful, caring and engaging! I wish I can have him for every class. If you want to learn chemistry and be rewarded for your hard work look no further!
Way too much HW ( online up to 50+ questions, then hand outs which are ridiculously hard, and lab writeups all due weekly) would not recommend this prof. Exams are really difficult, study guides didnt help, half of my class wound up dropping or withdrawing.
I wish he taught chem 20. He gives homework every class meeting, and quizzes once a week. The homework was really hard BUT if you understand the hw you will be fine on the test the test seemed easier. He is always willing to help and NEVER gives you an answer he really wants you to understand the material. OVERALL THE BEST TEACHER IVE HAD.
He is a great teacher, funny, and explains material clearly. He posts the slides, homework, and classwork on moodle rooms. So if you are ever absent, everything you need is online. His tests are not hartd at all, and they are only 3-5 questions. Homework is all not that hard if you understand the material. Overall, GREAT TEACHER
Worst ever
Great Professor took him last Spring. His class is challenging but I learned a lot. I would take him for chem 51 if he tought it. He is very nice and helpful if you ask him quetions. I remeber I was really frustrated with a lab and he helped me out undtill I understand it. The class wasn't super easy but hey it's college
Everyone on this page is just whining. College is hard so just get over it you lazy bums. Clements is tight
Clements is a good chemistry teacher. He hands out a good amount of HW(online and written) written being hard at times. Explains material well, does give handouts to lighten load on notetaking. Is willing to help anybody if asked. Going to office hours was a big help. Tests are okay as long as some study time is put in. Book not really needed.
I didn't think I would like this class but I ended up loving it. Clements is awesome. He makes the class fun and makes you work with groups when doing classwork so you can help each other out. Awesome professor, fun class. :)!
Unpatient, and seems confusing at times like hes not sure himself. He makes a lot of mistakes when lecturing. He also runs into walls a lot, really hard too.(Deliberately).
He is very straight forward and tells you in the beginning that his class is not easy and you will have to study. Prepare to visit a tutor because he is tough. Because he knows he tough, he is always willing to help you out. He is funny and makes this class interesting. This class is not for those that do not like to put in time and effort.
Gives a ton of hw but he is very straight forward with lectures, quizzes, etc. Very helpful as well he wants you to succeed.
One of the best professors at Mt. Sac. Encouraging, passionate, willing to answer any question (or find the answer to any question!). If you like chemistry and want to understand chemistry take his class as it will teach you to be a better chemist and a better student.
Best science professor I've had at Mt.Sac. Very open to questions, and always willing to help. Even though he is very good at teaching, what makes him an excellent professor is that he is great at instilling interest in the subject. Textbook is not required and I never had to really take notes because he uploads all of them onto Moodlerooms.
Homework he gives is more helpful than mastering chemistry, it helps synthesize material. Taught us how to do lab observations and reports (which are tedious but a very important skill that usually gets glossed over), takes the time to grade labs, gives back in depth analysis. From all the feedback in Prof. Clements course I am a better student.
He has to have been the best professor I've ever taken. He literally lures you into learning the material in such an interesting way. I was horrified of taking this class, but I ended up liking it. It's not an easy A, but it is attainable. The HW is what helps most and the lecture. He posts everything on moodlerooms, and he is very helpful!
I KNOCKED OUT IN ALL HIS LECTURE CLASS .. BUT I DID ALL MY WORK .. N I PASSED WITH A B+ .. TAKE HIM.. HIS AWESOME !!
I love the way he teaches. I have learned a lot from him, and I strongly recommend you to take his class if you like chemistry. He is so funny and energetic. His tests are no that hard but u need to study for them. Chem 51 is not an easy class but if you take his class, i promise u won't regret it. Nice professor ever :-)
Dr. Clements is a wonderful professor. His lectures are very clear & easy to understand. He also instills great interest & uses many real-world applications & outside info that makes the material easier to learn. He also cares greatly about his students and is there to help. Although a lot of work is given, it will hone your academic skills greatly
I've taken chem before at another school and Prof. Clements is the best chem prof I've ever had and one of the best profs period that I've ever had in my college career. He's helpful and truly wants his students to learn. It's a TOUGH class, there is a lot of work, but I LEARNED SO MUCH! He's energetic and loves what he does, and he's awesome :)
Professor Clements is amazing because he is passionate about the subject and is always open to questions and and gives helpful feedback (especially on lab reports) .The lectures are really clear and interesting. There is work that needs to be put into the class that helps a lot in understanding new material for lab and lecture.
He is clearly inspirational; I really enjoyed his positive energy, the kind of energy that radiates from very capable, smart people who's working on the job that fits every kink of their personality. He is born for this job -- you will both love and struggle in his class -- his lectures engaging and brilliant, and his assignments galore and tough.
good nice person
Dr. Clements teaches the material very clearly during lecture and provides tons of other sources to make sure you master everything. He is really generous with grading and eager to help if you show effort. With that said, Clements WILL challenge you and its going to be tough. Tip: Go to his office hours and ask for help, he's a great guy.
he likes to help students, you can have a great time with him. also, his class is very interesting, it takes you to get ready for next level.
A professor that is amazing at teaching and explains his trade like no other. The homework assigned and exams given are difficult if you don't put the time or work in. I ended up failing and will be taking his class again because he can actually teach Chemistry.
A funny and absolutely awesome professor. A review can't do it justice :D
Nice professor ever in history. he is very smart and energetic. He looks like Bill Gates.
Best professor ever! Very energetic, especially in the morning. Lectures are clear and straightforward. Studysheets and online homework helped alot during exams. He gives partial credit on problems, which is always a plus. He also replies fast to emails when you need help. Overall, a great teacher and made chemistry very fun for me. A must take!
Professor Clements is the science professor you always dreamed of having! He's organized, consistent, and won't ever leave you hanging. Fantastic lectures, gives you tons of study material, and extra credit opportunities. He is an absolute genius and hilarious. You will not be disappointed.
Don't skip class, mr Clements is a very enthusiastic teacher that really makes Learning fun. You will really learn a lot if you pay attention. The best science teacher!
Super funny teacher and makes lectures interesting. Class is early so that makes them long but he tries to make them fun. Tests can be tough and so can the homework.
Professor is very helpful. Makes lectures easy to understand. Make sure to study hard there is a lot of tough info. Online homework is the hardest part. But Put in the extra time and ask for help. He's very funny and try's to make the class enjoyable. He also uses many examples that help. I would recommend him he's a great professor!
Professor Clements made chemistry understandable and fun! He finds ways to demonstrate the concepts being taught in creative ways. He knows how to get the student to think so that they will succeed in the classroom and beyond. He has a great sense of humor and his lectures are very interesting. I would definitely refer him to other students.
Clements was a good professor and very enthusiastic about chemistry. He offers office hours and is willing to help but know that If you ask him a question, he will answer with a question. You are expected to memorize without be given formulas. Wouldn't recommend him if you don't grasp the concept quickly because I wouldn't take him again.
I cannot believe how much Professor Clements loves chemistry! His lectures are boring at times, and he would notice so he would add some humor once in a while. His tests were somewhat hard but his quizes were easy. I hate chemistry and tbh this class made me hate it more; however, Prof. Clements made it bearable.
Dr. Clements is a great teacher. He explains things clearly and makes class interesting. He is also nice and patient. Because he is a great teacher, there is a lot of work, but it is work thoughtfully designed to make you understand concepts at a higher level. Take him if you are a serious student. He'll teach you to think like a real scientist!
Prof Clements is very helpful! His lectures are funny and interesting and exactly the stuff he expects you to know for the tests! The online homework was long occasionally but if you do it and do it right you'll do great on his weekly quizzes. He gives out lots of study sheets that are so similar to his tests. I would definitely take him again :)
Took Professor Clements over the summer and he made a really difficult class, relatable, interesting, and easy to understand. You will definitely be assigned a lot of homework but I think that everything he assigns relates back to the quizzes and tests. Do practice tests quizzes they help! Overall a great teacher!
Doesnt expect students to love Chem, but made class enjoyable. Expect homework, (sometimes pop) quizzes, and group work. Puts (a lot of) effort into lecture so pay attention and do every handout if want to do well on the exams. Gracious grader, cares about your learning, welcomes feedback, and great instructor. Take Chem10 with Prof. Clements!
Chemistry is not an easy subject. Professor Clements makes it easier to understand but Expect to put in study hours. His homework is the hardest part but if you get through it you will do well on exams. Put in extra effort by asking lots questions go to office hours and study by understanding not memorizing. His class is very doable. great teacher!
I took his summer course, so everything felt a bit rushed. However, I learned a lot and really understood most of what I applied myself to. He does study guides, extra problems, group work, and is willing to help with everything!
Took his summer course so we had to learn a lot in a few days. Class was not hard just have to participate so you can get a better understanding. He helps with any questions you have so ask them. Lab was fairly easy but I would retake this course not hard at all. Great teacher.
He gives amazing & detailed lectures that u really learn a lot from (he's hilarious). Lab reports r a bit tough but u'll get the hang of it quick. For HW, theres MC & also his own worksheets that r hard but r only meant to make u learn something interesting (exams Q's r not from this). Study the sample exams and u'll be fine. AmazingClass!
Be ready to live and breathe chemistry for the semester. There is a lot of work to be done as there is MC & his own homework sheet due every week, plus don't forget lab reports. There is basically something due every time you have class. HOWEVER, if you are willing to do the work needed, it's all worth it. Go to office hours - he's very helpful!!!
Professor Clements makes chem fun and understandable. Took him in winter, he does daily questions, iClickers, quizzes online HW, and group work. I'm not into chemistry but he's really there for you if you ask for help. But don't expect him to just give you the answer, he'll ask questions and make you come up with it on your own. Enjoy his persona!
Homework, group work, and labs, helps with quizzes and exams. Supplemental material posted online and if you ask. Started the class afraid of chemistry to being highly interested. Quirky tv science guy that inspires you to learn, that's what you are signing up for with this professor. He will be there for you as much as you are willing to learn
I don't like this professor, but If you work you'll pass.
The Professor is very knowledgeable and passionate about Chem. He provides a lot of tools to utilize content for the class. However, at times it is not enough. The homework was rather difficult, the lectures were general sometimes. It was very difficult to gage the assessments and how difficult they would be. He was very meticulous w/grading.
One of the worst classes I have taken. Chemistry is hard enough & Prof. Clements makes it straight miserable. Want to trash your GPA? Take him. Want to be a competitive transfer student? Don't take this weasel.
He is an extremely great professor. Is very clear and engaging during his lectures so you won't get bored. Would definitely take another class with him
One of my favorite professors at Mt. Sac, he is very inspirational and cares about his students. He expects a bit more out of his students than the usual chem 51 professor, but at the end you will become a better scientist for it. Very fair grader on exams, Ie: lots of partial credit.
This class was not easy AT ALL! I passed and I am so happy! Lots of hw and it is very difficult. Make friends in class who can help! Lots of MC due every week. Exams are difficult but he allows grace points. Lab is fun but the reports are MURDER! He keeps you entertained in class but man did this class suck! EAT SLEEP BREATHE chem. GOOD LUCK!
Clements was an amazing professor! He had some really long lectures but the way he runs around the class makes it interesting. The only negative was the online homework but i would totally take him again.
wonderful professor, he makes the class really interesting. If you have any questions just ask him, he'll go over and over until you understand the concept or method.
Clements is an awesome professor. He clearly cares if your learn the material or not, which will be apparent if you take his class because if you do not actively learn the material then your pretty much boned. His class if the hardest class I have had so far but I would take his class again because he makes learning fun.
Clements was a very amazing and well prepared professor! He would have all the calculations done ahead of time to maximize class time and minimize room for error. Grading criteria on labs are tough, but they are clear as to what he expects. I thought exams were a little tough but the questions were very fair and he does give points for trying!
Clements is okay in lecturing, horrible at classroom time management and worse at answering questions. The class has a lot of busy work. Not hard work, just tons of hw and reports. The exams are very easy. Overall, take if you want to get an A by learning very little, as I learned nothing conceptually from him, and doing a lot of busy work.
Exams are straight from his lecture notes, go over that and you will ace exams. His hw can get challenging but fun to do. Weekly mastering Chem is annoying. Lab reports are long and time consuming, but that is expected of lab reports so it's not that big of a deal. Overall the class is medicore, from the professor to the class content.
I've taken Chem40 three times. I found it difficult to sit through lectures and understand hard topics, and ended up with an F every time. I received a fairly good grade in Clement's class and more importantly I left understanding way more chemistry than I thought possible. He made hard topics a lot simpler,&showed great compassion for students.
When you have a challenging professor it can be beneficial for the student because you learn and retain a lot moreIn this case the professor was just difficult. The benefit did not outweigh the cost. If you have an option to choose another professor go for it. Theres a lot of work, tests are hard, and the grading is ok.
This is one of the greatest chemistry professors ever at Mtsac. He is tall and funny. I love him. In the future, maybe 20 years later, I will find a wife, work hard on a baby, then wait until he or she grow up and get in to college, mtsac, then I will let my son or daughter take his class.
He is a funny and passionate professor, but he gives way too much work for my taste. The lab reports are very time consuming, yet he still manages to add WEEKLY online AND written homework. Ive spent so much time in this class and I think it is safe to say that it wasn't worth it. Good professor, but don't take him if you don't have the time.
Took Chem for summer.. It was a class that is usually 16 week course but since it was summer sem it was in 6 weeks .. It was a tough class but proff clements is an awsome proff! He cares so much about his students and really wants them to pass the class take this proff! Chem is hard but he makes it less hard!
He's very clear that participation and attendance was key to passing. Didn't matter because I wanted to make it to his class #FOMO. He was the lab professor too so that helped stay on track. Creative in explaining theories which helped grasp the ideas he wanted to teach. Was always available for questions. Would take him again if I had to.
The most "fair" professor I have ever taken. Prepare to work, but he puts in equally as much work as he expects from students. INCREDIBLY accessible, and is often in his office way more than just during his office hours. Utilize these hours as much as possible!! Lectures are clear and organized. A truly brilliant professor, I loved the class.
Prof. is hilarious, and his teaching style is pretty easy to follow if you engage in class. Yes, there's a lot of hw & lab reports, but it's doable. Just gotta get a few hours in for it cuz it's time-consuming. This class overall wasn't that bad. If you have a study group, use Youtube Chem vids for a bit, or utilize his office hrs, you'll be fine
Prof Clements is awesome! Chem is difficult but his teaching style is entertaining which makes it less stressful and less difficult. He is a fair grader and very student success oriented. He gives opportunities to improve your grade and feed back after each exam. I am glad I took his class.
Very nice guy, helpful, but difficult.
Extremely condescending. I do not recommend taking this professor.
Professor Clements is the best chemistry professor out there! He is extremely helpful and the class is easy if you participate and take notes. He is always available at his office hours. I recommend going to his hours because the one on one with him helps.
I recommend this prof 100%. the work is pretty consistent throughout the semester but You know what to expect and weeks with test a lighter load. Time management is required. Clements explains the topic very well, provides notes needed for his test & isn't dry and makes jokes. It's chem what do you expect !
Professor Clements is an amazing professor. I was unable to attend class because of reasons better left unsaid, but he was very understanding, allowed me to continue. He explains concepts amazingly, makes chemistry very enjoyable. Best of the best on campus, and 100% would take again for Chem 50 and 51. Cheers!
Professor Clements is a really good professor. This was my second time taking this class and he made it seem so much easier then my last professor. I have always struggled with chemistry but he explains things in such a unique way you can't forget it. I highly recommend that everyone take him.
Professor Clements makes chemistry really easy to understand and interesting by dumbing down a lot of concepts to more logical everyday situations (I.e. his way of teaching moles). He makes chemistry feel very applicable and more tangible than just a class subject. He also has an interesting sense of humor.
Professor Clements is amazing and wants his students to succeed. Chemistry can be difficult but he is always available to answer any questions. He is in his office for office hours and always replies to students emails. Highly recommended.
Highly recommed Clements. Practice application of concepts over and over, the concepts are strait foward but exam time questions can be difficult. Took 5 unit class in winter & struggled through but managed to do well. Now I can convert units of anything, turn Hg into Au, create diamonds from pencil lead in my microwave, and finally get some rest.
His lectures are great. All the test materials are in his lecture slides so take notes. His lectures are very understandable. Tests are 90% written response. Memorize everything he tells you to. Usually 2 hw assignments a week, takes 1-2 hours. I received a max of 6 EC pts., which raised my grade by 0.66%. I recommend him for winter session.
great teacher, great personalities, great class, great testes, great homework, great !
Chem isn't the easiest or most fun subject to learn but prof clements is very good at keeping you engaged in class. Very good at making analogies so topics are easier to understand. Always full of energy and very easily approachable in class and very available outside of class. Don't skip lecture or you can't keep up!!
Overall, the class is easy. It starts off a bit challenging but as the semester goes by, it gets easier. He has written hw and mastering chem. Exams are not too hard, do the sample exams! Don't wait until the last day to do lab reports! Professor makes lecture easy to understand. Always available during office hours, take an advantage of it!
Really helpful for students. Here 1 hour before class, available for questions. At his office Mon-Thurs. Fast email response. Entertaining lectures. Written hw that involves critical thinking. Easy quizzes. Doesn't tell you the answer directly, requires you to understand. Tests are easy, do sample exams! Not hard grader. Can redeem points on exams.
Show up to all class meet ups. Take notes, I recommend you get 2 notebooks. Quizzes are like exams, very tricky but if you did understand then you will receive a passing grade. Conversions matter most! SFs as well. Do your homework. Final was commulative, Lab final was 50 questions.
This is my first time reviewing a professor here and I hope that says a lot about how great Prof Clements is. I don't know of any other teacher who has taken me from hating a subject to actually liking it than Prof Clements. He's not an easy A, but just pay attention to his awesome lectures and you'll be fine.
Clements is hyper & makes lecture interesting so you won't fall asleep during class. Presents topics in a clear sense & is always open to answer questions during lecture & office hours. 3 exams, 1 lab final that was 40 questions and the final exam. Make sure to do the sample exams since they're very similar to the exams. Great professor overall!
Inspirational and super engaging--it's hard to fall asleep in this class! He explains concepts and how to solve a chem problem very clearly, he offers GRACE credit after the exam, and he's easy to reach. Go to his office--he's usually there even outside of hours!!! Ultimately, hands down probably the best professor I've ever come across. (:
My first science class in college.. and I'm so glad it was with Clements. I had this class at 7:30am, but trust me, you'll not fall asleep. He's very energetic, caring, and passionate. He's makes the materials easy for us to understand, and he's office hours are awesome.. so go ask for help if you're stuck. He's very thorough and kind:)
Best Chem Prof ever! Highly recommended to all. Clearly goes over subjects and breaks it down simple. Do online homework, 3 exams. Percentage grades.
Not very helpful, usually regurgitates the back when you ask for help, doesn't really explain things clearly when asked. Homework is often nitpicked for minor mistakes and requires Mastering Chemistry. On the bright side he does put on good shows with some of his experiments or displays and his lectures are pretty interesting to follow
Best chemistry professor!! Very Helpful! His lectures are never boring! Attendance is important because then you won't understand the quiz or the exam! Which by the way are easy! only if you understand it.
Best Professor Ive ever had.!!His lectures are amazing, never boring, hes passionate and loves chemistry. His test are hard, only if you dont show up to class. Grading is easy, gives a lot of chances to receive points. Is willing to help with any questions you have. He makes chemistry fun! Definitely recommend this professor to anyone!
He is absolutely amazing! Took him for 7:30 in the morning and he made the class so enjoyable! he kept us awake and engaged at all times! You know he is very passionate about his teaching. He basis all the materials in real like situations. He helps use see a bigger picture. He will teach you things you never knew before .
Pros: Professor Clements really knows how to teach!!! He's super smart but unlike most genius, professor Clements can explain the most complicated in a matter a monkey can even understand.. class material isn't too difficult.. cons: You will have to work for it to get an A.. assigns lots of busy homework.. assigns lab report for every lab...
Best prof. i have ever taken so far. Extremely passionate about teaching and inspiriting to earn an A in class. Make sure to work on sample exam & review lecture notes in advance!
I took this class in summer and it was a little challenging because it's a lot of information but it is manageable if you study. He is clear on the information taught and is available to answer any questions. He is funny and class is never boring. I would recomend to take him for chem10. I learned a lot and i enjoyed it.
Overall he was a very good professor and made the material more relatable which helped to understand it a lot better. He offered extra credit opportunities before exams as well as office hours. He's Alsop a very good at having grades posted up to dat and as soon as possible.
I took this in the summer, it was a little intense. Professional, gifted at teaching. He explains concepts clearly . Gives plenty of extra credit and answers any questions you have about the material. Do practice exams and get A!Energetic and full of excitement. He once rode his unicycle in class. I WOULD TAKE THIS PROF FOR ALL MY CHEM CLASSES!
I didnt get some assignment grades until the final was posted.
Overall, Professor Clements provides us great time and experience over the semester. He offers amazing lectures to go over the course concept in detail. He is also welcome any sorts of questions and he is willing to work with u. However, Lab Report is a huge part of the grade. Make sure u really work hard on it if u are looking for a good grade.
Overall a solid choice to take chem 51 with. He really tries to breakdown concepts at a meaningful level then apply it to the science. However class is very lab and exam heavy. Most brutal part of the class are the lab reports (needs to perfect in format and calculations) and overall Gen Chem 2 is very difficult. You gotta work for your A.
Amazing professor who knows how to teach and have great understanding to all of his students. If you're looking to learn with a pretty lenient to fair workload, this is the person you want to choose.
His class is the best class Ive ever taken. I dont like chemistry, but I like his chemistry class. He always smiles and energetic. He always try to give you credit for trying. He explains things easily. The class was not boring at all, it was rather fun. Many extra credit opportunity. Overall, He is the BEST! Take his class! You wont regret it!
This is my first semester. My friend introduces his "chem 10" to me. He is the best professor ever. For me, It's Easy A. His class notes are super useful, go over your notes or his class notes before tests, you will get A. There is no doubt, take him.
Very good at explaining every concept. Gives extra credit, practice exams. He is fun and makes his lectures are interesting and engaging. Long lab reports, make sure you start early. Amazing professor overall
Todd clements makes his students study for a specific chapter, but once the midterms come, it has nothing related to the chapter. He made it very stressful when everything turned into online, and seem to not have an understanding of students having other classes to focus on. Gave lots of hw, that did not count for our grade. Bad teacher for online.
He is really good! I taken this class online and his lectures is amazing, you really can learn something from him.
Best professor ever. His online class has a good amount of works. But fairly easy and helpful for the exams. He posts lecture videos for every chapters that are very easy to understand and most of them are on the tests. He is available on zoom twice a week to help you with any problems. As long as you do whatever he tell you, easy A.
Professor Clements is, by all means, a great professor, but has many downfalls as well. He is really good at explaining material in a digestible and friendly way, but he is extremely slow at grading labs/homework. This becomes hard to get feedback on how to do better or even get a better score. TLDR great professor, but really, really slow grader.
He gives good lectures that are clear and easy to understand. But the work load can be so much to the point where it feels like he forgets we have other classes and a life. The class is difficult and you have to work hard for the grade. Expected week: online hw, written hw made by him personally, 1-2 labs, a quiz, 3-8 lecture videos, etc.
This class is ALOT of work! weekly: 1-2 labs/prelabs, 4 quizzes (his and knewton), HW for each section online and his own, discussions, about 2-3 hr lectures. Drops one low/ missed lab and quiz. offers grace points to fix wrongs on midterm (1/3 of the missed points). He's very helpful, but quizzes don't really prepare you for exams. book not needed
Taking his class is a smart move on my part. It is a hybrid course (lecture online, lab in person) & Clements has the course structure perfected. He is straightforward, available out of class w/ plenty of extra credit opportunities. It's 5.0 credits for this course, there is classwork and lab work. Simply do the work and ask every question.
Took Professor Clements's CHEM 10 class during fall 2021, he is a great professor and gives good lectures. I bought the textbook but barely used it. He also offers extra credit for going to tutor sessions. Watch his lecture videos, take notes and work on the exam practices and you will get an A.
Took him last summer online. Pretty intense for 8 weeks. 2 labs a week, 2 sets of quizzes (him+program), hw from the program, heavy lectures (2-4 hrs but he keeps it interesting), never really used the book. He gives extra credit and grace to get 1/3 of the points you missed from exams. I got a high B, coudlve gotten an A if I took it seriously
Took hybrid course over the summer. Recorded lectures made his material easy to understand and not boring. Online homework system-also super helpful in understanding the material. VERY VERY time consuming course. Opportunity to redo exams for more credit. You will really understand the material rather than just memorize. He's great.
He is a good professor, is super accessible, and is very welcome to questions. He emphasized understanding the material instead of just doing calculations, which increased the difficulty of the class. Lab reports are super important cares about the format a lot-they're time-consuming. Exams are similar to practice exams. If no good @ study no take.
Professor Clements is a kind and caring professor. He has a sense of humor. You will never be bored in his class. He helps a lot in my class. And he really wants you to pass this class.
The prof is great and super nice and accessible outside of class. He really tries to help students understand chemistry. However, the class was hard and lots of work. There were weekly videos, quizzes, homework, and lab reports due every few weeks. The lab reports are very specific. There are practice tests, but you need to study a lot!
Professor Clements is great at explaining concepts. The workload is heavy, but manageable if you stay on top of things. unstuck AI and the textbook are helpful study tools. Overall, an engaging class worth taking.
Professor Clements is a great teacher. He cares so much and is very enthusiastic. His lectures are funny and relatable. I would take whatever class he offered—he's that good of a teacher.
I'm not a morning person, but I took an 8 am class with him, and he made me excited to show up. He is so understanding and caring. He genuinely wants his students to be successful and love chemistry as much as he does. We did lectures at home which was so helpful for taking notes. He explained things in a way that made the class more manageable
He is great, I took his winter course and even though it was a lot of work, he made it easier on us. He is always there when you have a question and he doesn't mind going over the content you dont understand even if he has to do it many times. Amazing professor
Highly recommend taking his class! Very passionate about all things chemistry, so it makes learning fun. My class was hybrid so lectures online were very doable, labs were fun, and he provided lots of practice tests/study guides to help pass tests. Quiz every week, three midterms, and lab/lecture final. Very flexible outside of class to reach out.
By far one of the best chemistry teachers I've had. Incredibly funny and passionate person who always cares for his students. Accessible immediately out of class for office hours (go to them). Class itself has a very large work load so be prepared if you're a full time student. Gives multiple (~3) practice exams that mirror what is on the exams.
He was the best professor I could have ever had. He is the best professor you can find for CHEM 51H. Yeah, there is a lot of work, but if scheduled properly, not too difficult. It is a honors Chem class for god's sakes. Take him. He is pure GOLD!!!
I had a hard time with this class. The prof is a great person, but his class structure wasn't ideal for me. His lectures are online even though its not an online class. There are NINE total lab reports which are strictly graded. Tests were pretty hard, but he allows a sort of retest that can give you back a few missed points.
Very kind professor!! But I was not prepared for the workload. Lab reports, Playposit videos, studying for weekly quizzes, written homework assignments, etc. became very difficult to balance at times. I personally enjoyed the class structure: online lectures (could be rewatched), practice problems in class. Practice exams greatly help!
My experience with Professor Todd has been quite negative. The first thing he says is that he won't pass you if you don't learn the units or memorize the material, which is a concern because his wife told him, "Please, that's not professional." He assigns a ton of homework.
I took this as a hybrid class over summer, lecture and hw all online and labs in person. Gives a lot of partial credit on quizzes (10) and exams (3 + final). It was a tough and fast paced class, but if you put in the time and work you'll do fine.
If you want an easy A this is not the class for you. Dr. Clements cares about the success of his students, especially when you always put in effort. He is patient, as he welcomes & encourages questions. There is some extra credit. Most importantly, he is willing to work with you to help you understand the material so do visit him in his office.
You have to be on top of your assignments and actually participate in class. Loved his personality and teaching style, but it's definitely not for everyone. He's very good at explaining difficult concepts and lab expectations. Exams are kind of difficult so make sure you study! He also misplaced one of my labs but did end up finding it later on :)
