Very Very intriguing class! He makes psychology interesting and fun for his students to understand. Lots of extra credit options are given. BUT he NEVER remembers your name!!! However, if you do good on the tests he will remember your face!!!

I would Deff. take him again. The course is SO easy I took him over the summer ans still got an A. If he knows you, or if you participate in the class, he will grade with his heart. Even if you have like a 86% he will still give you an "A". TESTS

Dr. Gaffney is an awesome teacher...just make sure you use the tools he gives you...i highly recommend taking his psychology class...

Dr.G is a great teacher. He is very heplful and eazy to understand. I'm taking him agin next semester. I would recomend him to everyone. 4 scantron tests and no homework just extra credit,thats is all semester.

Dr. Gaffney's class is easy enough. All you really need to do is read the book. Most of his lectures are entertaining and the subject is interesting anyway. Just read and pay attention in class and you're set.

this teacher is gangsta' he is really nice and sweet...he is there always with a smile and he makes you laugh..his teaching is cool its not boring and u will not fall asleep..i recomend u to take him he is very easy with test just read the book and ure set and just do the extra credit and you'll pass...

Gaffney is a pretty good teacher. The exams are long, but the study guides will tell you exactly what you need to know. His teaching style is very effective and you will hardly need the book at all.

Cool Dude, Awesome Doc! You DO learn something in this class. The class wasn't too bad. Tests DO require some writing *essay booklet*, but nothing TOO bad if you just study the material. O, except for the final, that actually all essay. not bad at all. I thought he was funny. He's got that funny old man smile. I love the guy.

Instructor is helpful, there's no quizzes, only exams, just gotta stay awake in lecture, has alot of extra credit to catch up, the grade you earn is the grade you study for.

This class is a complete challenge. He is a great professor but the class is NOTHING if you do not have the textbook. His lecture notes help clarify the text and his tests are from strictly from the textbook. My advice is to READ, READ, and READ some more. If you don't read, you'll do poorly. Trust me...just RREEAAD!

Extremely nice man, his classes have such a wonder relaxing feeling that you are able to pay attention. He is very approachable and drinks more coffee than anyone I have ever met. For crying outloud he gives you the answers to the test long before you take it!!

Really helpful if you visit him in office hours. i loved this class and the atmosphere of it all, he makes you feel very comfortable. I probably wouldve done better if i actually studied for the last exam. He repeats key points, so pay attention. Awesome teacher. I would highly recommend him.

Hes a little weird. Makes a lot of eye contact and always has coffee in his hand. Doesnt really drink it though. Tests are challenging because they are essays which means you really have to study. Gives loads of extra credit and is pretty nice. Not sure if i would take him again but it was a positive experience.

Great instructor, I took his Psych 101 class and it was great. He gave 3 multiple choice tests and the final. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. The tests are mainly from the book, do not rely only on your notes. He does however give you plenty of opportunities for extra credit, if you study the book you shouldnt need that much extra credit.

I walked into this class not knowing what to expect and left wanting to take more classes with gaffeny as my prof! Very intelligent, even though he's a USC fan (GO IRISH) and his lectures are very interesting! Classroom setting is unique. Strongly advise anyone to take this prof! EASY A!

his class is ok i mean you have to take notes on your own but he is clear and gives them in order for the quizes he says the guides outloud but they are simple to answere at home the quizes are ok but you do need to have a good memory i mean in overal its not too hard

Dr. G is the man you want to take for a psychology 101 course. He explains the concept very well, and he's pretty funny too. Its all lecture. 4 tests in all with the lowest score getting dropped. Pay special attention when test time comes near, he gives out test objectives for you to study, and if you do, you should do quite well on his tests.

No research paper was required..thank God!! His lecturing is funny & simple. If u do all the reading ur gonna get an A hands down but u gotta do well on the test. He even drops the lowest test score.

Great professor! Very interactive class. Extra credit provided if you need it. Shares test questions WEEKS before the test, which is helpful. The class itself was very laid-back, fun, and you learn quite a bit about yourself through this class too. Very recommended. A++ Don't buy the book though, you hardly ever have to open it.

First and foremost he is thee most awkwardest grader in the world. I say this because he has this thing where once you get one "C" on a test, you lose your chance of getting an "A". Weird right??? Anywho, he's a pretty cool guy besides that. The class is really interesting and interactive, it's like one big therapy session.

Gaffaney's class is easy, mostly because it's relative to life and social situations. His exams are easy because his class is interesting, even though it's all written.

His lecture is strictly a note-taking style type of lecture. Many students would get lost because he would talk fast making note-taking difficult. He never writes on the board other than an outline of what he is going to talk about. He does review pretty well, and only tests us on what he covered. Gives you about 25extra credit point opportunites.

Great teacher! He knew a lot about his subject matter, including extensive information beyond just what was in the book. He is also very personable, sociable, and relate-able, despite him being pretty old. You definitely have a lot to learn from him, and will greatly appreciate his class!

never cracked a book but you must attend to take his notes word for word then study it for the exam i got a B but that's because bombed the 1st exam i didn't really show for class in the beginning DO the extra credit wait till they have the psyc experiments you earn the points faster and easier then writer the 3pg papers grades r based off exams

Dr.Gaffney is awesome!he doesn't pickon people, he is funny though! took him for Personal and Social Adjustment .. this class is farily easy because its applied to your life. Yes these tests are essay, but he gives you a study guide with what questions will be on the exam. if you don't pass then you're wack!

Dr. Gaffaney truly is great! I took him for abnormal and developmental a few semesters ago. His lectures are clear, and self contained. I never really used the book in abnormal, just studied notes and got an A. But for developmental, test questions are more related to the book. He doesn't give hw, so that's a plus. Take him, your won't regret it

Dr. Gaffaney is the best psych professor at cerritos college. He has a lot of experience in the field so therefore has awesome examples that make you understand the material better. He has a genuine passion for teaching. If you are a clinical science(clincial psychology) major you will find him a intimidating. He is a true psych mentor!

I've transferred last fall and I must say he is my fave. professors at cerritos and truly miss him. I've taken every class he have ever taught and I loved every one of them. Dr. Gaffaney is probably the BEST professor at Cerritos! His lectures are so clear, interesting and straightforward. You do have to take notes, but he paces himself perfectly. Exams are based straight from lecture material. He is truly wonderful and will probably motivate you to pursue Psychology. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone and everyone!

amazing psych professor with great lectures and tons of resources. Do not be late and show up because your notes are the bible. They are crystal clear and he gives vivid examples. If you don't work & have time, he has plenty of volunteer opportunities for psych students- he is well connected. Make a study guide for each exam and you will get an A+

He's a great professor. This was my second time taking him. He gives a lot of extra credit and for personal and social adjustment he makes the class interact alot. Essay tests, he grades them kinda hard.

2nd time taking professor gaffaney and I still stand by that his lectures are amazing & all you need to understand and pass the class. It is very important that you are a good note taker and have a laptop. This ensures you get down everything he says and don't miss anything like you would writing things down manually. He is a very fair grader.

He had AMAAAAZING lectures and always had great stories to tell from when he used to practice. Tests are essay format so you have to study hard to pass. His tests are all essay form and require blue books. Everything you need to know for the tests are in his lectures but it's a struggle to write everything down as he talks. I would recommend taking your laptop and typing instead of writing it. You definitely need hours of studying to pass. He himself is a nice man who likes to make jokes.

Fantastic professor and class. Lectures were very interesting and he did great explaining information. Essay tests consisted more of long-ish answers for various questions than actual essay format. If you have a good memory, your studying should not take long and you should pass pretty easily. Take really good notes, you'll need them.

He loves to hear what you have to say. His tests are passable if you go to class, take good notes, and participate.

Entire class is lecture. From the lecture you get notes & he passes out a study guide before each exam. Extra credit available. doesn't have canvas, or a class assignment schedule. entire class is just him talking & asking us to chime in sometimes. Easy going & if you read before class you will be more than prepared. tests are easy if you study.

Dr. Gaffaney is just a great psych professor. He shares a lot of real life experiences and provides great details on the subjects matters. My interest in psychology have changed because of him. ALERT: NO POWERPOINT IS PROVIDED. So if ure not a reader, better be one. hey nothing would come easy, right? u just have to keep those brain cells active.

You do not need a textbook at all. If you need it to refer back to something or take notes from the book then you can buy the book. However, it is not required. Everyday is pure lecture, verbal lecture. You have 4 essay written exams in the semester and he offers up to 10 extra credit points.

His stories and lectures were always relatable to what he was teaching. He mentioned at the beginning of the semester that he felt that helped the students retain the information. I agree! He is one of the best professors I ever had. The essay tests were challenging but I feel I learned and retained more because of them.

I really learned so much from Dr. G, things that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have so much more compassion for those that suffer from mental illness. There are 4 exams all test are essay tests so be prepared. He is old school no power point or no canvas.
