very good teacher for people who dont understand math
Good teacher, willing to meet with students and help with questions. Makes class as interesting as it can be. Very helpful but needs to be a bit more clear in class sometimes.
easy class. trys to keep it basic and to a need to know basis. go over everything in good detail. if you have trouble with math i would highly recommend him.
Very good math teacher. I've had other teachers for math and I would definately select this one for future math classes.
Really helpful and grades generously. weekly quizes but easy to get good grade becausae of them. the quizes are pretty easy too.
Keep notes! He has a lot of quizzes and if your class does poorly he will give you more! AHHH!
Best Math teacher I have had! Easy test grader, actually knows what hes doing. If you pay attention goto class and do the homework before the test/quizzes, you will get a good grade.
Not a bad teacher but pretty monotone and boring at times. Will meet with you if you want him too. Overall not too bad if you can stay awake and pay attention.
He is one of the best teachers that you can get for cal 2 He is really good at explaing the material also gives quizes to help everyones grade in the class. Grades all test and quizes very fairly and is easy on partial credit.
Cannot teach or relate to the students
Great teacher, knows what he is talking about and uses good examples, gives weekly quizes, doesn't collect homework and the tests are graded fairly, gives partial credit, i would definitely take him if you can
Great teacher!! Great guy too!! I recommend his class for sure. He is apt to help out and is pretty cool and down to earth.
He's a decent guy, just try to stay awake in class, his voice is pretty monotone.
Great teacher! Very helpful. Had for Calc 3. WOULD DEFINITLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HIM!!!
I really liked Todd as a professor. He made Calc 3 easy for me and i understood everything he taught me.
Good professor. Explains things very well.
Excellent Teacher. He provides great depth to the material that he teaches. I would recommend him for any Calculus class. He is not the easiest in the world, but he is close. He doesn't curve his exams, but he makes them easy enough to a point where you he doesn't have to curve them. His class averages are well above normal for Calc III especially.
BOOOOORRRRIIINNNNNGGGG. He's very monotone and it was hard for me to concentrate. He has really really helpful notes. Study them. Study the practice exams very well. Not hard to get a good grade in here as long as you don't blow it on one of the 4 test questions.
Good guy, requires what seems like a lot of work out of class but if you do the homework you do well on the tests which are waited heavily so it works out.
Hard Teacher! Was in a lecture hall for this class. Very hard to learn. His exams were hard and long with only an hour to complete them. His take home assignments were HELL!! They took me days to complete because he would ask us questions about topics not covered in the lecture. When I asked for help he always told me to use google & didn't help me
very boring, uses mathmatica like its the end all be all instead of teaching the concepts that you will be tested on. does not allow the use of calculators on exams. multiple choice questions are on tests and no partial credit for them when showing work so it doesn't matter if you know the concepts or not one mistake is 10% off usualy.
Very good teacher. Has online notes that are perfect. Offers A LOT of extra credit. He explains everything completely. Very good with office hour meetings (and he will give you back points on tests if you ask him right). I would say he is one of the best Tech has to offer.
Had for diffy q and he sucks. Half the time he messed up what he was trying to teach and his super long notes were wrong long. Book blows as well, acts like mathematica is going out of style
Acts as if mathematica really pertains to this class when really it doesn't to the extent he believes. His exams are multiple choice so it doesn't matter how much work is shown, it's either right or wrong based on your answer. Gears class and tests so that smarter people are posed to having a challenge of getting an A. Not great overall.
Had for MA 2320. He is an excellent teacher. The kind that makes up for other professors that are not anywhere near as good. It was any easy class regardless, but he did teach it very well, and is very approachable for help outside of class as well.
Really good professor. I had him for my Calc III claass and he maid it easier class then thought to be. His exams were on the cover material and are not that hard. He is almost always available in office for any questions you have. Homeworks weren't hard but time consuming so be ready to spend some time on them. Definitely take him if possible.
I took Calc III with him my second time around. He explains the material very well and his exams are pretty straightforward.
Class was extremely boring. He had prepared notes for each lecture that were basically copy and pasted out of the book. One of his biggest issues is that he explains what something is and why it's useful, but not how to do it. He also relies heavily on computer calculation even though calculators are prohibited on exams.
Todd King is a horrible professor. The only way I managed to get through the class was by using the math learning center and his online videos. It seems like while in class he just has no motivation to teach. Very boring and monotonous. Also my final grade was .53% from a B and he refuses to round it. Do not take Todd King.
Had him for both calc 3 and Diffeq. Both times it was hard to hear him, and he is hard to follow with his notes. Helpful in the office, but not much of a teacher.
Pretty tough professor, but he knows what he's talking about. A lot of exams, but this meant you only had a narrow section to study from, which helped me. He drops the lowest exam, excluding the final.
There will be lots of whiners about Dr. King but he knows what he is talking about and will answer any question, if you ask it. He is extrememly helpful during office hours and his grading is nice since he drops the lowest test score.
I think King is a very knowledgeable professor, and his lectures cover all you need to know, but what is terrible is that the homework doesn't really relate to the material you need to know, and missing one HW or anything can affect your grade since there isn't a lot to be graded on. Also monotonous, but can't complain. Only uses textbook for HW.
Todd King has moved his homework on line in the form of a multiple guess format but still recommends problems out of the book. He uses quizzes which make up a big part of his grade. While he teaches the material great, his exams are nothing like the homework or what is covered in class and can affect your grade big time. Learning great, grade not so
Dr. King is a good professor. The problem is with Calc2 is that the material is difficult on its own for most students, and there are so many ways to ask questions over the material. Take practice exams and pay attention in class and you should do moderately alright.
Not helpful. Starts with complicated examples before explaining yet basics of a topic. His provided notes don't make sense to even those who have taken Diff Eq before.
Dr. King is one of the best Math professors I have had. He has many things available for you, from his online lectures to past exams. His exams are fair and so is his grading. The homework was done online through wiley plus. I really enjoyed his class.
Dr. King is a great professor. The best math professor I have had so far. He cares about the material he teaches and provides real world examples. Gives multiple teaching resources that are available to you. Would definitely take him again.
Excellent teacher. Explains all of the material well. He allows time at the beginning of class for homework questions. He posts all of his old exams, so there is years worth to study off of. He also gave five exams, but dropped the lowest exam score (making the final optional).
His solution to having a large class was to make the DiffEq exams multiple choice and no calculator. Most of the people I knew who took the class were happy to scrape by with a CD, because the exams were 90% of the final grade.
Wastes time in lecture going over things that are not relevant to learning the course and never covers basics well before the in depth problems. When asked for help you might as well ask a calculus one student to help you with your calculus two homework. Overall the only thing that he has going for him is he speaks fluent English.
Todd King is clearly one of the better Calc II professors. He will help you the best he can in lecture, and try to give good examples that apply to the exams. Instead of standard quizzes, we had take home quizzes (though they were pretty challenging). Not to mention, he grades things separate from other profs, and grades go in lightning fast!
Gives take home tests every week but you can go to the MLC for help. His lectures are clear and he answers homework questions in class. My favorite professor so far.
His quizzes are quite hard but they are take home so you can work together. He's a really neat guy and he explains things well. Our class was above average on all exams and I felt very prepared for them.
Professor King was the best math professor I've had at MTU. Make sure to watch the pre-lesson videos, they make everything better! He goes over a lot of examples, which usually appear in a more difficult form on the quizzes. Calc II is hard, but he makes it better!
His quizzes are really difficult but his tests aren't. He is an excellent teacher.
Very monotone and mundane. Very hard to listen to as he derives every equation from theorems.
Wasnt my direct professor but oversaw the entire calculus II section. Exams were similar to the review but often had concepts not practiced on the reviews. Grading was very harsh with 2 of the 4 exams having portions of no partial credit. It's not very feasible but if at all possible I suggest taking the Calculus II course somewhere else...
Todd's a great math teacher, and a great dude. He tells you what you need to know for the exams and it clear. The weekly quizzes are tough but help prepare you well.
A lot of people just have a lot of problems with Calc 2 hence my CD, heck with was my 3rd try at it. However, Todd was always was down to help me with any question and never made me fee dumb. I practically lived in his office but I always came wanting to improve, and as long as you do that, he'll do anything to help. Wouldn't've passed w/o him.
I found King to be a solid professor. He (for the most part) explains concepts and topics clearly and has no issue explaining them more in depth during his office hours. He goes over any questions you have regarding that day's homework in class. Easy to work with and truly wants all students to pass (half fail or drop out as he will tell you).
Todd King is the most monotonous person I have ever encountered. Calc 2 is already an extremely difficult class at our school, and his teaching methods only added to the difficulty. Also the quizzes are pointless and not applicable to the exams. Overall extremely frustrated with this professor and class. Not surprised but disappointed.
He's a very straight-to-the-point no bs type of guy which is what I like about him. He tells it how it is and does a good job teaching. Some people say he's boring but imo he was a good professor in a course that was pretty tough for me.
Great guy all around. I missed a homework assignment by 3 weeks and he gave me an extension. He will answer your questions on webassign quickly. He speaks clearly and will tell you the truth. He hides nothing and will tell you what is on the exam. My favorite teacher so far. Cant say enough good.
Great guy, genuinely cares about his students. People on this site hate on Todd King, but you have to remember people hate greatness. I usually never review my teachers but this is an exception.
I had him online so we didn't take any exams which was nice. The quizzes were exactly like the webassign homework and they were open note as well. Not a bad class overall.
He is a wonderful professor! His courses strike perfect balance between preclass prep (only a little), homework help, a lecture covering lesson material, and examples. He may be intimidating at first, but he is a really good professor.
Calc 2 was pretty hard for me, where usually I can just get by barely doing much HW, etc. But Calc 2 you really have to take good notes and focus in class. Todd is accessible and is pretty clear to understand. The class feels monotonous at times, but that may just be because it is Calculus
Todd teaches fine, his attitude is absolute garbage. When you ask questions half the time it gets answered and the other half he laughs and repeats what he said a couple minutes prior. After the first exam he came in and said "I'm not here to teach you how to do math." Real helpful.
King is very quiz heavy, but the quizzes relate closely to the exams and he tells you about them before hand. The quizzes are collaborative and it really does help to understand the material. He explains the concept well and shows where it is used industry. he has good office hours as well.
Great guy and professor. If you're hearing good things about him it must be for a reason. The collaborative quizzes in class really help to integrate the material into your head. Calculus 2 is hard to relate to the real world yet he somehow does that in some lectures. Would recommend him no matter the subject he's such a nice guy!
Very methodical. Great professor.
Dr. Todd King is a wonderful professor but he isn't for everyone (he admitted this on the first day of class). He either works really well or does not at all for you. He is very easy to follow and he cares more about understanding a problem than having you become a human calculator. I would highly recommend having him as a teacher
Explains things well in lectures. Homework felt educational and not like busywork.
Easy if you want to just pass the class, you can memorize the formulas he gives and use them on the exam. If you want to get a conceptual understanding of the material you might have to do a little more, possibly read the textbook or practice more. He does a good job of explaining things in class and uses real world examples well.
Excellent Professor. I had him for Calc 2 and 3. He was patient and taught relevant material and tried to make the problems relate to something useful. In class quizzes were done and very helpful for learning since you could get help from others during the quizzes.
King is an awesome professor. Had him for Calc II and glad to have him for Calc III. He explains the concepts very linearly and shows you how to apply them. His explanation of topics that applied to engineering helped me with statics as well. Definitely take his class if you're in engineering. If you can do his quizzes you can do the exams.
Dr. King teaches well and focuses on applications and shows how the material will be used in your other classes. Exams are hard but reasonable and you can still get good grades on them with enough studying. There are in class quizzes as well which are not always announced so make sure to show up to lecture.
King is the GOAT, the golden goose, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you're lucky enough to have him, he is the best Calc prof at MTU. He knows his stuff and is really good at explaining it in ways that make sense. He's friendly and pretty accessible outside of class. The class can be hard but make sure you speak up and ask questions.
Todd King is an amazing calc professor, he manages to take the concepts and explain them in practical terms so that they make sense. If you show up to class, he does a good job of going over problems and preparing students for the exams, which are challenging but reasonable. Easily the best calc teacher I've had, and I would highly recommend.
Todd King is a good professor, don't get me wrong. However, what I should say is sometimes it can get a bit boring though during lectures. Also, quizzes: multiple weekly, be prepared.
Good teacher, tough class. Quizzes almost every day to make sure past material is learned. Homework just keeps coming. He cares about his students and offers at least two extra review sessions outside of class before each exam. Dropped the lowest exam and quiz scores, which was nice.
For Calc III he is one of the good professors out there but if you can get into Woods, take it with her. Todd has good lectures and he gives out a lot of practice exams and other material so you basically know what is going to be on the exams. He just acts a lot like the material is easy, so he goes through it roughly quick which isn't the best.
Has quizzes every day, but you can work with peers and you should. Study for exams as much as you can, and do the practice exams.
Todd King inspired me so much. He even gave me good career and coop advice. He has industry experience and is very knowledgeable. 10/10 prof highly recommend
Todd is an excellent professor, great at communicating ideas, and has useful notes and handouts. His grading can be a little harsh because the exams only have 4 questions at most on them. Study the notes and homework and the class is simple.
Todd is the best professor I've ever had. His grading is good, but you can not have sloppy work. His exams reflected the homework very well. The ICEs also reflected what was done in class and on the homework. Overall, this guy made Intro to DE relatively easy.
My main issue with the class was the number of quizzez, it seemed like we somtimes we got a quiz and werent even showed an example problem. You are allowed to talk to others and look stuff up on the quizzes but the qunatiny of quizzes was still really annoyng, bascially need perfect attendance.
Todd's method of teaching Calc 3 is different from all the other calc classes at MTU. Lectures are mostly theory based and he acts like its easy, but make sure you understand both the applications and how to compute everything on exams because he knows how to throw curveball questions. In class quizzes almost every lecture but they're not too bad.
He literally told us that he was only going to teach half the content. Will take extra time to do examples that won't be on the exam. He grades based of work and handwriting, and doesn't give enough time for quizzes. Preclass videos are him reading the text! If you want to teach yourself Calc 3 he's not a bad option, but if not take anyone else!
He stated he would teach half of the material you are expected to learn, and you are expected to learn the rest on your own. He said to do well you should expect 8-10 hours outside of class learning the material if you want to do well. I dropped the class at about week 6 because over half the class failed the midterm. You cant make a formula sheet.
I liked his class and he explains things well, make sure to pay attention and show up to class as he will give ICE's without prior notice.
Theory based lectures with ZERO real problems in class that you might find on a midterm or final. Expect to teach yourself all the material. Homework outside of class is just for practice and counts for 0 percent of your grade.
He was helpful in office hours. In class, we did few problems. I was able to get an A in the class by just doing practice exams about a week before an exam. The homework is not graded and I didn't bother doing any of it, and did well. You do have to put work in and be willing to do things outside of class since you mostly do overview in class.
lowkey got bored of the class toward the end. it truly saps your soul out with (at least for the class i got stuck with) 8 am classes with pop quizzes 1-2 times a week and exams at 8 am. if you have a later class maybe its not as bad, but if you get 8 am for this class good luck and go to sleep early.
