This prof cuts through all the crap. He makes everything as clear as a bell. Take anything he teaches -- YOU WON'T BE SORRY!
Learned a lot & the tests were extremely easy if you went to class. I'd take any class he taught.
This class is such an easy class and i reccomend anyone to take it. All you have to do is attend every class and his test a basicly on the notes that he give. Even got an A in his class. Very good teacher
Take this class only if you are actually trying to LEARN. If you get good marks by memorizing and regurgitating class notes or statistics..forget about it. His tests are super easy as long as you remember to APPLY the knowledge, not spit it back out.
One of my favorite profs at saint marys, this is the only class I took, the tests seem easier than they are but I still did well in the course and learned a lot of the subject matter which in most classes I have not. I definitly suggest this prof, classes are short and sometimes cancells classes.
Anyone who says Todd's classes suck is a joke! He's one of the most interesting and knowledgable prof's st.mary's has to offer. His tests are easy if you APPLY what you learned in class. Just go to class and listen to what he says. Definately one of my favorites!!!!!
He is one of the best profesors SMU offered. He made me really intersting in psycho. In the clasee a lot of example come from his family, very interesting!!He is very helpful. If u have any question, he even stay half hour after class to help a specific student.
Great professor, always wanting his students to laugh and enjoy his class.
Favourite class, favourite teacher. Relates topics to real life situations, and tries to keep you entertained at the very least. Only class that I was glad to attend, but was always let out early! Attend class, listen to examples, study and you'll do fine on the exams.
GREAT PROFESSOR!!!....loved his class...switched one of my classes next semester so that I could have him again. One of the only classes I can sit through easily and actually enjoy it. Overall Funny, nice good prof. Go to class and you'll get an A. and he usually cuts them short too!
Great prof... I would never have anything negative to say about him!!!! His test are quite easy if you are in class and take detailed notes...and Apply what you learned.
He is GREAT! You can easily got a great grade if you come to class and do the reading. Exams are easy. He is funny and charming. You will regret to miss one class because every each is fantastic.
Amazing professor.. one of the best at smu.. i wish i could have him again. Always keeps you laughing and interested in the topic. Cant say enough about him, exxxcellent prof, 11/10.
Great and very entertaining. The test are rather on the difficult side, but then again if you invest time studying, you will be more than okay. Dont think, "Introductory Psychology" and then assume you can just skim through, no. The class will test you thoroughly. Leader is amazingly funny and will keep you awake and interested the entire class.
Attendance is not mandatory but he goes through every topic so passionately that you will learn so much more from attending class! He really knows his stuff!
amazing prof. extremely funny, go to class/pay attention/take good notes and u will do fine in the course. tests are a bit hard but fair, if you pay attention and study there will be no surprises and you will get an A.
Todd Leader is an excellent prof! The textbook assigned was straightforward and applicable to real life situations. Attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade, but it's worth showing up to class. He's very passionate and uses many great situational examples. Would take more classes with him if I could!
I had Todd for Treatment of Addictions. Going to class is way more important than reading the book (and more interesting), his handouts were important and he gave clear directions to what would be on the exam. He referenced a lot of in class discussion on exams and if it came to what's in the book vs. what he said in class, what he said wins.
Tood is AWESOME. This man is hilarious, this was my elective. His lectures and textbook are VERY important and helpful. Todd makes the lectures relatable for students to understand. 3 tests, all consist of multiple choice and 1 short answer. The test would be easy if it werent for multiple choice. i suck at them! but love todd and the class
I took both his addictions course and his community course. I really liked the addictions course and found it really interesting but the community class was a lot of a repeat and the tests were more difficult (based a lot on the text which is not discussed much in class). Overall good prof though!I definitely recommend taking addictions course!
Very helpful. One of the best Professors at SMU for this course.
He is the best professor i ever took any course with, he is very clear, helpful and interesting, makes you want to attend class, just do the readings you are assigned and you'll do really well, there is no final only 3 midterms which is so much better and once you get tested in a chapter your no more required to know anything of it anymore.
He is the best professor at Saint Mary's in my opinion, he is crystal clear in his explanations and is always willing to help anyone who needs help, he is funny and very understanding, all you need is do the readings and attend class and your good.
Excellent professor! Enjoys cracking jokes and uses humour to keep his lectures entertaining. Would definitely recommend! His explanations are clear and his tests aren't made to trick you, very straight forward essay-style questions, with a few multiple choice and matching.
Todd is the man. I had him for my intro to pych and took him again I strongly recommend him to people. hes super laid back, hilarious, funny. just take good notes, listen to him and its on the test. 3 short answer, MC & T/F. the book is good. the class in general was really interesting. you also get potential 8 bonus points, DO THEM. easy too!
I'm in my last year of my second degree and Todd Leader is the best prof I've had in the seven years I've been in university. So passionate, so knowledgeable. Teaches you information you can actually apply. Super funny, super smart, laid back, great prof. This isn't high school - you have to work, but Todd makes the work easy and enjoyable.
Todd knows what he is taking about! Such an interesting guy! Best Prof I've had throughout my academic career. He jokes regularly and makes the class light and refreshing. Wish all my profs were like him. Can't say enough good things
Excellent Prof. His class primarily focusses on practical applications, which helps me to visualize the information and ultimately learn it better. Very interesting prof with a wealth of clinical experience. Don't miss his classes though, because much of the insights into the exam questions are covered in class.
Amazing Prof!! His class is very interesting, and he definitely knows what he's talking about! He relates his material to what students can understand. He doesn't write anything on the board, so take good notes! I would even go without the textbook, and just listen to him. Amazing! The course consist of 2 midterms and 1 exam! 30%-35%-35%
Prof Leader is the best professor at SMU hands down, not only does he care about students in the class, he's always there for you outside of class too. He goes above and beyond his line of duty, well thats why he won the best professor award. Hes funny, he makes learning enjoyable and you level of interest after taking his classes will shoot to the roof. Really amazing guy, would highly recommend him and once you take one of his classes you would want to take all. LOVE THE GUY.
I loved this prof. I also had him for 3351 the same semester. He's super down to earth and personable. He gives practical examples of the material being taught. He's very passionate about what he teaches which makes it easy to stay engaged in an otherwise dry topic. Can't say enough about this prof. I have already registered with him again.
It isn't often you meet someone who has the combination of foresight, intelligence, & passion that Todd does. Not only does he provide his class with invaluable knowledge, but he goes above & beyond to instil the skills & passion required for his students to actually want to effectively change the world. Brilliant person, phenomenal classes.
Todd is by far my favorite professor at SMU! He makes the most bland topics suddenly seem interesting, thought-provoking and funny which made me understand the material a lot easier and made me look forward to his classes. In fact, I took almost all of his courses during my time there. I would definitely recommend him.
If you can take a course with Todd, do it!! By far my favourite professor at SMU! Not only is he a fair marker, his lectures are extremely inspiring and interesting (he makes you want to go out and change the world!) He is very humorous, which is always a plus, and he has to be one of the most humblest and nicest profs! He is incredibly helpful too!
Hands down one of the best classes I've taken in the psychology department at SMU! Lectures keep you engaged from start to finish, and are extremely thought provoking if you have any interest in health care or wellness. Text book material and lectures go hand in hand, so you're not left wondering why you bought the book which is always great!
Todd Leader is one of the most passionate, intelligent and profound professors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His courses are ones you show up early for, you are excited to participate in, and you linger late to keep talking. SMU has found a gem in Todd and I urge anyone with even a slight interest in Psychology to take his courses.
This class was excellent! Although the textbook was expensive which Todd apologized for, it was worth it. There aren't slides, but the way he teaches ensures that you receive the information, understand it and apply it. Community Psych was informative and has practical application in various contexts. There are only 3 tests that aren't cumulative.
Todd should be the only one to ever teach this class! Based on what the class is about Todd certainly embodies everything he hopes his students will become. He gives great feedback, but be prepared to do a lot of self-reflective work; and, be open to criticism about yourself from those close to you. Todd brings experience and life long advice.
Todd was hands down one of the best professors I have ever had at Saint Mary's. I recommend this course to anyone. At the beginning of the semester I was nervous about presenting and getting critical feedback but this class has taught me that Todd and the fellow students are there 100% to help me become more successful in life. Do the work!
Mr Todd Leader is a pioneer in effectively empowering employees and student's leadership capacity, his ability to articulate tasks in an organized and efficient manner were students are consistently provided one on one coaching, mentorship and constructive criticism. His work with mental health and leadership is truly revolutionary. BEST PROF EVER!
Inspired me to want to lead change in the world. Did more than teach information. He mentored us on how to become leaders of change. Most practical course at SMU. Best prof.
He knows his stuff. Very interesting course.
Easy Tests, Interesting Lectures, Bonus Options, Great Prof... Don't buy the textbook, just go to class.
I can say with certainty, Todd Leader is the teacher that has had the biggest positive impact in my life, while at Saint Mary's. Todd's passion for helping students become strong and effective leaders in their community is apparent every class. He is wise, patient, absorbed in the material, and most importantly to me, he values student's opinions.
Todd is the big dog. He works in a clinical setting and lends his time to lecture at SMU. All the stuff from the textbook was stripped to the bare bones in lectures. Exams are basically written roleplays; learnt skills.
Easily the best prof at smu. Inspiring is an understatement. Take this prof/any of his classes if you get the chance.
Todd Leader is my favourite professor at SMU. I would glady take any course he teaches, and would recommend his classes to anyone (but obviously specifically to psychology students). He takes a genuine interest in his students, and he presents the course material in a way in which it is always applicable in real-life. He is also hilarious!
For any of you considering taking classes with Todd Leader do it. You will not regret it. His classes aren't the typical having a prof lecture you and just spitting back facts on an exam. What he teaches you you can use and carry with you in your future career. Very approachable , there for students.
Todd Leader is 100% the best prof I have had during my 4 years at SMU. He is very approachable and has so much passion for the courses that he teaches. Take ANY or ALL of his classes if you can, you will not be disappointed. Just make sure to not miss class as he does not post any notes online or create ppts, etc. So be prepared to take notes!
Todd is the kind of professor who should run SMU, I think with his leadership capabilities he would make SMU not just a better university but will create so much affinity and pride which is something that SMU lacks. #TODDFORPRESIDENT
Todd Leader is one of the best profs at SMU. His lectures were interesting and interactive. He is friendly, approachable and funny. Great class. I highly recommend it.
I've taken every class Todd has offered for a few simple reasons: Course material is well laid out, The format is great(1 class a week, 3 tests and no papers),Lectures are incredibly well done through the use of humour and a down to earth vibe but still manages to be very informative, inspires students to get involved in and outside of class
Great prof. Easy to learn from. No boring powerpoints
Todd is a PHENOMENAL professor. Classes are very engaging, and discussion based (no power points), so ensure that you go to class: One of the most passionate, engaging, wonderful professors I've had. Very approachable, respectful of accommodation requirements, and makes himself very accessible, should you need some extra help. Much respect for him!
Challanges you to change your mind, inspiring and funny! I wish I knew about him before my last year at SMU I feel like I missed out not taking more classes from him. He cares about his students and tests you in a fair way.
He is very inspiring and enthusiastic about what he teaches , all of his classes are very interesting ( NOT a single boring lecture in all of his courses ). His courses are the only courses that I have seen my self actually learn about valuable life lessons. Easy A, great lectures , all you have to do is attend & participate with an open mind.
Just amazing. Never had a prof like him before, never will meet another the same. He tells you what chapters to read and that's it, no lecture slides at all, and I learned the most in that class than any other. Man is so experienced and knowledgeable, hilarious and kind. Would take all classes with him if possible
Seriously the most amazing prof I have ever had. His lectures are incredible, he is so knowledgable and experienced in his field. I would recommend his classes 1000 times over. Only three tests, which are easy as long as you go to class and pay attention. I can't give him enough credit!!!
Amazing prof 2.5 hr class I looked at the time 2X class and I type notes! 2 midterms worth 30 and 35%: 3 essay questions (informal 3 pghs) and 5-10 mc/tf that are very easy. got 96 on both. 3 experiment points and 5 for bonus assignment. textbook not really needed no ppt or notes TAKE GOOD NOTES never a boring moment in class. love todd!!
AMAZING PROF. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE NOTES AND GET +A!
Excellent - a useful class and he is an interesting professor to listen to.
One of the best profs at SMU. What you learn is useful and the way it is taught is immersive.
I wasn't planning to take this course. But needing to fill my schedule I saw the reviews here and decided to take this course. It's one of the BEST courses I've taken. He teaches important things that will stay with you for life. He's more interested in the student applying what they learn than memorizing. He's the best!
I don't usually rate profs, but I had to rate Todd. He's an amazing prof, marks fairly, and he makes the material easy to understand. It's a chat-style class, so it's important that you go to class, but he makes it fun! Take a course with him if you can!
Going to class and participating in in discussions is a great way to understand the content in this course. In fact, this is better than reading the text. Plus he's an awesome prof and very understanding as long as you can back up your point.
Todd is the first prof I've been moved to rate. His Community Psychology class is amazing. I left the course feeling as though my perspective of the world has shifted entirely. He is a brilliant lecturer; engaging, hilarious, straightforward, and conscientious. Go to class, know the concepts he emphasizes, the exams are very fair. Great prof!
Amazing prof. I have loved all of his courses.
Easily one of the best professors at SMU hands down. Tests are based off of lecture discussions, so you have to go to class. But if you miss a day, he doesn't hesitate to meet with you in his free time to get you caught up. He's very passionate about what he teaches and it shows in his lectures. Definitely will be taking more of his courses!
One of the best profs I've ever had. Great elective to take, very easy to do well and interesting class. Todd is hilarious, and very knowledgable.
Such a great professor. He really cares about his students, his lectures are great and he explains the content very well with lots of real life examples. His classes were the ones that I didn't want to miss!
Best prof ever, no way else to describe him, he inspires students to become better, listening to him makes everyone around him better people, I left his class inspired and seeing the world differently. He is caring, his lectures are so fun, and he teaches you things that are going to benefit you for the rest of your life. Simply the best.
The course " community leadership" is different then any other course I have taken during all my academic years, this course is an applied course. Basically if you want to make a change in this world ? Dr. Leader will help you do it, and this class is basically you implementing this change. BEST COURSE EVER. You leave a different person. thank you
This community leadership course, is one of the best offered at SMU. Take it with Professor Leader, he is an amazing, caring, and inspirational professor. There are no lectures slides. This an applied course, and it helps the students to know about the strengths and weaknesses, that we are capable of leading in change in our community.
I had to make an account just so that I could rate this prof. His lectures were engaging and interesting, with a lot of interactive discussions. as long as you attend the lectures and pay attention its easy to get an A in this class. Overall amazing class and amazing prof. Will be taking as many classes as possible with Todd in the future!
The "lectures" are very informal and almost feel like a conversation with a friend. Todd is knowledgable and passionate and it shows. I feel like I learned a lot just from listening to his examples, didn't have to pour hours into work, and the tests aren't too bad either. I'm glad I took this class and would recommend it to any other psycs majors
Tests are IMPOSSIBLE. They're super short and he is not very clear on what is going to be on them. Long answer questions are either full marks or no marks. His actual lectures are pretty nice, but no powerpoint, just him talking, tries to make it entertaining but makes it hard to take notes. Biggest issue is that he just doesn't answer emails.
Great prof, no powerpoints for notes, does his lectures just by talking. Very engaging, if you paid attention during lectures tests were not too hard.
He speaks the textbook in a fun way so you don't even need to buy it, he says everything needed. You get 3 tests to be graded from, 1 page mc and a few essay Q's, very easy. He tells stories to make it easier to understand and less boring. Only downside is that he was the worst at responding to emails. He makes a third year class feel so easy.
Although he is clearly a very smart man and is in the right line of work, he makes it very hard to learn from him. You have to send multiple emails for him to answer you and even then you dont really get that much of a reply. If you need help with the course or need something corrected you are better off going elsewhere because he doesnt care.
Prof is alright. Lectures were entertaining to listen to. Did not like how the course was designed at all. Three essays make up your whole grade with little guidance on what is expected or how the essay should be structured. The questions to answer are vague and not directly applicable to all the material he expects you to use to write your essays
I would not recommend Todd. He is VERY unclear about what he is looking for for the papers. There are 3 papers and they make up your whole grade. The first one was worth 30%, so you have no idea how he marks, and if you get a bad grade it will impact your whole grade in the class. I would do anything to avoid this prof
I have had the pleasure & privilege of taking multiple courses with this professor & found each one incredibly engaging. Todd genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His lectures were always informative, insightful, and thought-provoking. Pay attention & put in the effort, you'll do great! 10/10!
I did enjoy taking classes taught by Dr. Leader as they were interesting and informational. He appears to be very understanding and it is evident he takes pride in his teaching and the students understanding. The only downside is that the course is made up of three papers, not giving much room for error or mistakes.
My favourite professor so far. The lectures are engaging and very clear to understand. Recommend taking any classes with him!!
I'm a finance major but decided to take intro to psych as an elective. Couldn't be happier with my decision. Todd is clear and engaging in his lectures and truly cares about his students. He's just an awesome dude. Grade is composed of 3 tests though, so it's important to be engaged off the jump.
The structure of the course was simple: 3 papers. You had to read the text and really apply learning. Although technically it was 'easy', I learned a lot of applicable skills and I am kind of leaning towards psych as a major, which I wasn't expecting. Todd clearly cares about his work, his students, and the community.
Todd is one of the realest profs I have ever had at SMU. He is authentic and genuine, and takes the time to make sure students understand material. His lectures are very engaging, although he doesn't use slides. Very kind, approachable, and caring. His courses are both inspirational and empowering.
Todd is a great professor who makes use of illustrative examples to aid in learning. The downside is that your grades are dependent on three tests/assignment which carry a heavy percentage. You can't afford to fail in any one of these tests or else it will drag your grades down. I wish he would try to break down these assessments into small bits
Todd is a very kind and intelligent professor. His lectures are interesting and informative, I felt like I learned a lot in this course. He's very approachable and wants to help you succeed! I thoroughly enjoyed this class, even if it was online, and will be looking to take more course from him in the future.
One of the best professors I have ever had. I have taken 2 classes with him. I highly recommend taking a course with him if you can! He is very clear in all his directions, he is always ready and available to help with anything and everything you need. He teaches real-life skills and provides very engaging lectures to watch each week.
Todd is so far probably my favourite prof at SMU. He's very approachable and wants to help you succeed. Although he doesn't include his lecture slides with his videos, I thoroughly enjoyed this class and recommend anyone to take one with him
Todd is by far the best professor I've had. He values practical skills, going against the status quo and standing up for what is right. Todd is innovative, intelligent and approachable. Todd teaches how to think and not what to think. He values mastery and self-discovery over memorization. Best prof at SMU!
Keeps lectures interesting, tries to keep things 'real' and relative to your everyday life. Lots of reading, but honestly one of the best profs I've had in a long time.
Truly such a down to earth human
Absolutely loved Todd from the start. I got extremely ill and periodically hospitalized during the semester, and he was more than accommodating, super kind, and easy to communicate with. You can really tell he is super passionate about teaching and genuinely wants his students to succeed, in both school and life in general!
Hell yeah Todd is SUCH a great prof! Highly recommend.
Prof Leader's class pushes you to make real change. Lectures are engaging, and he genuinely cares about helping students succeed. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my study prep. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
Todd is easily the best professor I have had at SMU, he is hilarious and cares so much about his students. I was panicking after one of the midterms and I emailed him, he literally parked on the side of the highway and marked my test to dispel my worries. He marks the day of the exam so we don't have to sit and worry for weeks. Take a class w/ him!
If you pay attention to the lectures and do the readings you will do good on the assignments. I learned a lot from this course by doing assignments instead of quizzes.
Was super accommodating and helpful to my individual needs!
This teacher doesn't use any materials in class most of what is discussed is not on the test The text book is essential however the multiple choice questions are convoluted when you write a test in his class be prepared to write the essay part first hand it in then get the multiple choice Took this class with a good instructor got 4.0.
Todd truly cares about us and wants us to succeed. He is so emotionally intelligent, gives detailed lectures, ensuring understand the material, and is always available for questions. When submitting bad work that isnt like me, instead of giving me an overall zero, he took the time to talk to me, which is something that makes me respect him a lot :)
