AWESOME TEACHER!!! ACTUALLY MADE ECON FUN!!!
He made econ an interesting class.
He is hard but easy. He gives a ton of work and the tests are really hard. But he gives a lot of points for participation and attendance so it all balances out in the end. If you want an easy teacher & class this is definetly not the class to take.
gives a lot of assignments, but gives credit for participation and attendance. Very hard tests. You will not get an easy A, but you will actually learn something in this class.
He is a great teacher and very knowledegable. I didn't know political science was so interesting. You HAVE to read to do well in his class.
in the beginning of the semester, i thought he was cool cuz he's always putting himself down....but now the class is soooo boring, and TOO much reading!! i hate how he picks on people to answer questions, rather than asking who knows it....
He is very intelligent and witty
He does require a lot of reading; however, his teaching methods require students to really think about what they are learning. A really tough class, but I truly learned MicroEconomics.
He is a pretty good intructor. Be sure to ask questions if you don't understand. I formed a study group and we met once a week all semester for a couple of hours. I am sure that is how I got an A. Do all the reading or you will be lost.
Myers is a really smart guy and knows everything you could imagine about the government, but he is biased in some areas, and shows it. It doesn't really matter if you go to class. He only takes role the first couple times. Do the study guides he gives out, and you will definitely pass the class.
I have to say that his class is very easy, all you have to do is show up for class every now and then, he posts his notes online gives u study guides that if you do ur fine and u have to read a book and give a presentation, but the presentation is easy, he's funny and reallyy smart, i recommend it
Very intelligent teacher who works hard to help students succeed.
I had a great time in his class and learned a lot about politics. His stories are interesting and Grossmont is lucky to have a teacher with so many real world experiences.
do not take this class!!!!he is crazy as hell!!!
The Good - extremely knowledgeable and exceedingly flexible. The Bad - noticeably insensitive toward minorities and the disadvantaged. The Ugly - his laugh... it's so ugly that you can't help but laugh with him. Grade = A-, one of the better PSC teachers.
Very nice guy and extremely knowledgable but can be overly philosophical at times. His self-depricating humor is sorta funny and I'd say anyone who believes him to be insensitive needs to lighten up. Class is an easy A if you do the work and read.
Do not take this class!!I HATE his laugh........ crazy....................
I think Mr. Myers is a great teacher. He made me really think about the different cultures we studied and he was very helpful by giving us study guides. I like his laugh.
UUUHHH yeah, Okay, lectures were sorta useless, best to get him to give a study guide and then study for test. Okay guy but not what I would call and easy class but it was 4 wks class. Got a B but little chance for an A. Hate Micro Econ!!!
Hez a good guy..he tried to giv us point..he prepared a lot for lecturez..soemtimes too much information..I got A in this class. make sure understand and memorize study guide!!
Wayyyy to much work for this class. Like we all don't have other classes to take. 2 books to read and compare and write paper-what a joke, why is that even needed other than busy work. Busy enough trying to study 1 book. Never take this guy unless you are a workaholic.
Way too much work, and they are unnecessary. I find the presentation is fine but the book report is just unnecessary. Study the study guide and you would do fine in the class.
good teacher. every day comes in hunched over saying "hello my friends" in a egor like voice. it is kinda funny. he knows way too much about economics, and gives a lot of info in lecture. you do have to read two books and write an essay comparing them. oh well, he is a pretty good teacher though.
Great Teacher! Knows alot about what he teaches in great depths and is very willing to help clarify and help out. His class can be a little overwhelming but as long as you do the study guides, you'll do well and he goes over them in class. One paper/presentation and 3 tests, w/o a comprehensive final.Great teacher, recommend taking him, I will again
OUTSTANDING TEACHER! HE WAS ALSO A DRAMA TEACHER ONCE SO HE REALLY KEEPS YOU ENGAGED. KIND OF A NERD BUT FUNNY. GIVES OUT STUDY GUIDES, THERE IS ONE 6 PAGE PAPER DUE AT THE END AND ABOUT 4 TESTS AND A COUPLE QUIZZES. GO TO CLASS AND DO SOME READING AND YOU'LL BE FINE. I PASSED WITH A B.
Great teacher.Do your work, he is a leanient grader.Wants you to know some and not all of the book. Do the study guide and show up for class and show yourself. Don't freak out about the eassy just do it and hand in on time. Not to hard at all. He relates the stuff to the real world. Best teacher at Grossmont! Will take everything he teaches.
This teacher is good but gives too much busy work. Had 2 books to read, the text and an old econ book and then had to compare them with a 10-15 page paper by the end. He is a new teacher and is trying to impress someone right now. Take him in a few more semesters or if you are not taking a full load and have time to do the work.
He is a very nice teacher. He is very willing to help his students. A paper and a group presentation is assigned, it might seem overwhelming but they are not as bad as they might seem. It will be very helpfull if you read the assigned chapter before class. He is also a very fun teacher. I highly recomend him.
Prob. the best teacher i have ever had, my friends used to come to the class every now and then just to sit in and have a good laugh. he teaches economics very very well and is extreamly funny while doing it. Dropped Dr. Cummings and took Dr. Myers best decision i have ever made.
cool guy, very entertaining but talks too much, extremely helpful, make sure you use the study guide everything on test comes from it. defenetly take Myers you will learn a lot and have some laughs
Dr. Myers is an incredibly intelligent man. I learned a great deal from his class.
He's a little bit of a nutty character but, you'll learn alot. If you are having trouble he'll help you out. His tests are multiple choice with a study guide before hand. A good guy.
I enjoyed the class because I like economics. IF I didn't, the class probably would have been boring. As long as you read the text and do the study guides you will do fine on the tests. Class was interesting, but for the most part unnecessary. The second book required for the class (Small is beautiful) is a really bad book, but an easy read.
He's really cool.
Nice guy, you need to study and keep up with the reading or you will be left behind. Very easy to talk to.
A really superb teacher and a very caring person. Very approachable and loves to advise students on their careers. I found him inspiring, but you have to use your brain. Not for slackers! Very well organized lectures with powerpoints. I've been through college and three years of grad school, and Myers is definitely one of the best teachers ever.
Dr. Myers is a great teacher who cares alot about every student who puts in even the slightest of effort. The subject matter can be difficult and he may lose you with his sesquipedalianism, but you will emerge an academically brighter student.
Todd is a smart man, but I think he needs to improve his teaching ability. He uses powerpoints to guide his lectures. He moves through material too quickly and he talks to his students as if they already have many years of experience in economics. The online portion will not transfer and is required to pass the course which stinks.
Everything comes from the textbook. This was the first class that I read the textbook from cover to cover. Only went to class once a week. Main thing is try to learn the material on your own. This is a tough subject to teach, so you have to put in your time at home reading. Good teacher though.
I was sure I was going to barely pass this class with a C, (if that) and I ended up with a B. Dr. Myers is such a nice guy and always available for questions. He doesn't take attendence, but I suggest you go... this class is a little hard. Do yourself a favor and study Powerpoints and from the book. The only thing I didn't like is the online Aplia.
I loved his class. You can tell he's really intelligent and knows his subject. He will always answer your questions in or out of class. Sometimes in his lectures, he goes into too much detail instead of keeping it simple, but still gets his point across. I learned a lot. Highly recommended. Really nice guy, fun class.
Dr. Myers is very intelligent and charismatic guy. The class is not the easiest (had him for POSC 120) but if you read and use the study guides you will be fine! This was the only class i actually enjoyed going to the entire semester. Myers' antics are very amusing! Teaches class like a college class should be run.
Incredible teacher, who actually teaches how he wants to teach, not by some curriculum, very intelligent, listens to everyone's questions, will discuss almost anything. highly recommended for anyone taking poli sci or an economics course
He's a good guy. Really smart. extensive background and credentials. His class was always a good time
To be brief, I will say that I have never been one to struggle in school, and am accepting of a challenge. However, when provided a professor such as this, one whose love of his own voice dwarfs any lesson he may be instructing, there is little hope even for the brightest of us. There are only 8 of us in that class (soon to be 7) for a reason.
He assumes you know the material before ever steping into his class, so instead of teaching the material, he has non-stop discussions about the world, and the only person that is talking is himself. There are only 8 surivng classmates in the class that was once nearly full, and even then, some of the students sit and play their rubix cube all class
This class is a very interesting class. Dr. Myers is very open and friendly and will help you with understanding the material if you just listen to what he is talking about.
He is a very fun and knowledgeable teacher. I look forward to taking him for other classes.
He's a very funny man and keeps the class awake with his weird but entertaining antics. I wasn't doing very well in the class, I was never much into economics and only took for GE's but he's really nice.
Knowledgeable & helpful. Tests are hard: sometimes questions on obscure statistics from book & essays aren't easy. Lecture time is almost pointless. He just discusses the material in a roundabout way, and occasionally has good class discussions. To understand the subject and do well on tests, you NEED to read the book.
He does like you to read the book. Lectures are sometimes entertaining and usually informative. I think he is a really good teacher.
He is one of the smartest teachers at Grossmont. He is challenging, but I feel better prepared for UCSD.
I absolutely hated Myers class and dreaded going there on weekly bases. The only reprieve I can offer anyone taking his class is that he really detests individuals from the south and their overt affection for religion, which sparked some of the most memorable and funny comments I have ever heard in a classroom. "Betty-Sue's store bought dress"
HIS microecon class this spring was amazing. Even though hes sometimes distract from the topic at hand but in the end he always knows how to draw it back to the main knowledge.Besides,Dr. Myers is a very passionate individual with a great personality too.You will ace the tests if I truly understand the concept and take em with confidence!best luck
Mr.Myers is easy going, very inteligent, and an easy grader. There was a LOT of reading and writting in this class. However if you actually read the book(s) and actually do the assignments that he asks you to do you have an A or a B guaranteed(generally speaking).
A true scholar. Certainly not without flaw, but overall a very passionate, understanding, and helpful professor. Also very funny! An appropriate and fair amount of work for a college class. As he says, "If I'm not challenging you, I'm not doing my job."
He assigns book report, a few tests, and is very open to student participation. I will take him again.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Never stops talking. Acts like he is better than everyone else because he has a college education. Makes students feel stupid. Dreaded going to class everyday. Doesn't teach hardly anything, justs expects you to read the book and know all the material. Talks about issues not relevant to class.Should not be a teacher.
I think Dr. Myers adds a great deal of knowledge to class about politics and learning. He is also very nice and is willing to help if you ask him.
His class is not difficult as long as you read the text. Lectures help, but his tangents make it hard to cover everything. He is open to class discussions. Sometimes he seems arrogant; he admits it, too. He wants to "enlighten" you more than anything (Buddhism). He's a good/cool professor. Recommended. Thanks Todd! :o) ~PS: He reads these reviews!~
Myers is an awesome prof. he is more than willing to help you if your having trouble. He is very interesting, i never fell asleep. Very reasonable with grading as long as you PARTICIPATE, SHOW AN HONEST EFFORT and DO ALL 2 ASSIGNMENTS and READ THE BOOK!!! definitely recommend him if you want to learn!! GO MYERS!
Doctor Myers, I genuinely love you. I really really do, but can you please stop talking about "hot chicks"? It scares me just a little. Otherwise, adorable and funny. Glasses and hats are win. And it might seem like he's rambling, but if you're actually paying attention, he's using real life examples to help students understand actual concepts.
YO TODD YOU ARE THE MEN OF MY WORLD NO ****BUT WITH OUT YOU I WOULD NEVR BEEN WERE I AM FROM KNOW YOU ARE THE BEST VERY FUN VEY EASY GOOD TESTS HELPFULL PERSON ALLWAYS THIRE WHEN YOU NEED HIM AND ALL WAYS TAKES TIME TO HELP YOU OUT WITH SOME THING THAT YOU NEED LOVE YOU BIG DOG
This class WAS hard, but it is, after all, college and we did learn a lot. And if you're complaining about reading the book to do will, please don't go to a university. Not an easy A, but totally worth it. He applies the concepts YOU learn on your own to real world examples. You HAVE to pay attention and do work instead of getting by on a few notes
He is intelligent and sometimes likes to show it off. If you don't enjoy politics this won't be the class for you. Class consists of mainly real world applications of the course content which is good. Seems like he rambles off sometimes. Good teacher overall, would definitely recommend him for anyone who loves political science.
I have little respect for a course in which a test question reads: "Who said *insert obsucre quotation of seven words irrelevant to the major ideas in the text*?" with options of obscure unimportant Greek names. And he rambles and tries to find some foolish link between his rambling and the class material. My guess is he rates himself on here.
Ok,so a typical class of his goes like this. Talk about himself for about an hour, complain about reading too much then talk about writing too much for power points. Basically nothing to do with the class. This porfessor really underprepared us for our next class, which was what he was supposed to do!
i think dr myers is very good at teaching politics. very fair with everyone in the class, but dont ask a stupid question cause he will somewhat embarass you in front of the class. and jokes are kiinda weak!
I liked the class. The professor is extremely knowledgeable. We had interesting discussions. You should study for this class, but it totally worth it! Dr.Myers is very helpful. Highly recommended...
probably the most annoying professor i've ever had... talks about himself and irrelevant topics during class. if you take him over the summer, good luck having to listen to him for three hours.
I'm not sure why people say his class is hard. I took him for both econ 120 and polisci 120, got a B in both and never once opened the textbooks. It may seem like he rambles a lot, but if you pay attention to his lectures and review your notes before tests the class is smooth sailing.
Dr. Myers is amazing!
I've taken several business classes, and Dr. Myers teaching style is probably one of the worse I've encountered. I leave feeling like I haven't learned a thing. There is little to no preparation for exams. The class isn't incredibly hard, but I would have liked to learn more from my teacher.
Ease is relative. He requires that you read the text and select one from a required reading list for a term paper. The classes add value, not simply wrote methodology. Textbook questions are there to facilitate learning but optional. Lectures are very engaging and thought provoking; questions are always welcome. Essays challenging but rewarding.
Good overall experience. Easy class, show up take notes, and review slides on his website before tests. Lenient when grading papers. He teaches at GCCCD and SDSU; he is a very busy guy. I've heard from several students that he does NOT reply to e-mails. So, be sure to utilize his office hours!
Nice enough guy, tries to make tons of jokes and is not really all that funny. He pretty much thinks he is the smartest guy ever. Doesn't get through much material but class is not manditory. I showed up for only tests and received an "A". Overall not bad but not the best
Don't take econ with this teacher. His tests are very hard, and you have a long paper due at the end of the semester. You don't need to go to his lectures because they don't help. He does not simplify the information, and it is up to you to read the material on your own.
Pretty easy teacher. Does NOT take attendance! Just show up for tests and read his power points online (I didn't buy a book)) - will get you an A ! :)
I took this instructor in Fall 09. Let me try to be as brief as possible. You really have to love Economics in order to pass this class. You WILL NOT pass this class if you don't read the required books and go through the Powerpoints TWICE. If you do that, you can stay at home because you won't learn anything new from this teacher.
Doctor Myers is a really cool informative guy. He's extremely intelligent and passionate about POSC. If your interested in this topic take his class you will learn a lot if you apply yourself. Each reading takes about 4 hours to thoroughly understand, and its one reading a week. His tests are hard, and tricky but if you study you'll be fine.
Doctor Myers is an odd man who really tends to confuse the class a lot. Every time I would ask him for help he would tell me I need to "Practice" which still confuses me today. If you are not good at economics take it online and not with him!
You must read the book to do well. If you understand it then there is no need to attend class since his powerpoints are provided by the text authors and he adds almost nothing to the discussion, which is really too bad for a PhD Economist.
Great teacher. Crystal clear if you listen to what he says and come to class.
Amazing Professor, completely changes your perspective on how you perceive things. He is extremely knowledgeable and his lectures are really engaging. He is very helpful. Best professor at Grossmont!
Easily the most straight forward, and helpful proff I've ever had. Allowed me to reschedule numerous tests as I was busy with family & work. He is honest with you from the start, read the book and pass the class. If you cannot afford the book, he has all the information on power-points he has hosted online for you. Stand up guy, I respect.
He's an AMAZING teacher! He's very passionate about his subject and he welcomes all student opinions. He really wants you to understand the material and he makes the subject very interesting. If you ask questions, you'll get a better grade. You'll have a better understanding of politics and world events after this class.
awesome teacher, hes agreeable and goes off on short hilarious tangents that somehow relate to the subject. Its very seldom that i enjoy lectures but i really liked his class. in his econ 121 micro econ class i relied solely on his lectures and readily available powerpoints, i did not touch the text and that is why i got a B, if i had read the text
Really...? Taking this course online just plain sucks. He requires you to purchase an account on Aplia and it's total BS. All the work (60% of the course) is to be done on this site. The work on the site is a total waste of time (busy work). Kinda comes off as a lazy prof tbh. I want his job.
Class is rather useless, if anything it will only confuse you more. He often goes off topic and the tests are kinda hard... You don't need to go to class, you only need to get a tutor, because Myers lessons are pretty much useless on tests
He uses lecture time to explain how economics is relevant to your life, and to broaden your understanding and use for economics. You are expected to have read the book. This is college and some people should stop crying because the instructor didn't give them a cheat sheet for the test like some do. Those who complain haven't read the book.
Myers is sick, he is also too smart for most of the dullards that will inevitably end up in his course at grossmont. If you take his class, and you cant even count as high as the number of sylllables most of the words in his daily diction have, drop the class because it will be like that all semester. You won't like him if you're stupid, simple.
DO NOT take him unless he is your last choice.
Myers is a character! A little scatterbrained but very funny and engaging. Encourages participation from students. Dont bother learning material from the lectures, just study the book thoroughly and you should do well on tests. If you need structure in your classes dont take him, but if you're self-motivated with a sense of humor, Myers is your guy
I can't be any happier that this semester is ending! The test are based off the book, read and you'll be fine. lectures are pointless. He is very unclear what he wanted for the research report and basically changed everyone's research topic even though it was an appropriate topic according to the syllabus. Overall i hated the class, AVIOD IF YOU CAN

I love Prof Myers! I took him online. I didn't know we had to purchase Aplia ($80). But, he is simply cooool. Although, it takes a while for him to reply. I usually email him thrice just to get a response. Essay are super duper easy. Finals is very easy (he gave out study guide) and trust me, everything on the study is on the test. I got an A.
RUN. Do NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES
Dr. Myers is one of the most brilliant teachers at Grossmont. That is both his greatest strength and weakness. Most of his lectures are off the top of his head, so unless you are really tuned into the subject matter, he can be a little hard to follow. Always has easy tests. If you actually want to learn take Dr. Myers. He will teach u to think
Seems like a nice enough teacher. He always replied to my emails within a day or so, unlike some other reviews here. I had him for an online class but we had an on campus final, which sucked. Overall, the work was easy. If you go over the powerpoints you don't really even need the book. I wish he was teaching 120 online!
Second class i've taken with him. He is kind of vague, and his lectures are kind of dull but he's very funny and sarcastic. Do the reading and the papers and the class is an easy A. Myers is a cool guy and an average professor.
One of the worst teachers ive had. He is so full of himself. he thinks he can fix the worlds problems. dont take him. not worth it guys.
TOOK HIS CLASS ONLINE, NOT A FAN OF "APLIA" THE HOMEWORK SITE OR HOW IT GRADES BUT IT MADE FOR AN EASY SEMESTER. DONT FORGET TO STUDY FOR HIS FINAL, THE STUDY GUIDE REALLY HELPS AND DO HIS FINAL PAPER. WOULDNT TAKE IN CLASS, BUT ONLINE WAS NOT BAD.
Great teacher if u want to learn beyond textbook, hard tests for those who don't read or study, was easy for me. helpful and available during office hours. 3 groups of raters here: 1 majority of slackers who blames everyone but themselves 2 smart minority who enjoy actual thinking process that get his style. 3 small group in between... pick your sp
I really try hard to listen in class and focus on the material but my mind subconciously wanders because his lectures are so boring and he seemingly just talks about things irrelevant to politics. Okay guy, can be kind of funny but otherwise a very boring class. Hard to follow unless you are crazy about politics. 1/3 of the class sleeps or texts
Dr Myers is both patient and willing to elaborate on questions regarding his lectures. He gives examples frequently and uses humor tastefully to help make the material more digestible. Dr Myers is certainly not boring, to claim so reveals a certain lack of.. well.. intellect.I recommend Geology or perhaps Basket Weaving to cure your boredom. -Caz
Myers was ok. Great personality and funny at times. I think he talked way to much about Political Theory. Sometimes I think he forgets he's teaching an introduction class. Two of the three tests were all true/false questions. In all, since I know a lot about politics, the class was kinda easy
Listen, Myers isn't your usual easy A teacher. He expects you to use your own brain and be intellectual. If you can keep up with him then you've got something good going on and you should use it to your advantage. If you want to challenge yourself and really feel like you earned an A, dare yourself to take this class.
Good teacher, boring subject. He makes it as entertaining as he can. Does reviews for the test, which are helpful. Likely don't even need the book if take the 2x/week class.
Boring in personality. Lectures didn't really go with applia assignments. no need to come to class all work is online besides the final. DON'T RECOMMEND IT!
Meyers is an excellent teacher. He asks questions relevant not only to the text but in reality. I think those that don't like his methods of teaching must not understand his humor. He made political science interesting for me and opened my eyes to political topics in todays society.
If any of you are expecting Robin Williams entertainment, or earth-shattering / heart-felt inspiration at this point in your life - then grow up a little. Dr. Myers is incredibly intelligent, coherent, patient, sometimes lenient, and willing to spend time with you. As an adult, you should already know this rule of thumb - don't have expectations
Doctor Myers class was super easy. It didn't take much to get an A except showing up to class and turning in the work on time. Everything you needed to know was in the syllabus and he didn't expect too much work from us. The final was super easy and he gave us a thorough review for it. Not bad for an online class with one lecture a week.
Myers can be a boring lecturer, but he is a very intelligent man. Comes off as very cocky, but has a right to because he is very well affluent with the world from experience. Tests are straight from the book and online powerpoints. 1 Paper and no homework ever. Easy class, but read, or else you will not do well. Good guy, not the greatest teacher.
Have taken 2 online classes with Prof Myers and I would recommend him. Expectations are provided with the syllabus. If you use the online assignment tool (Aplia) you will do fine. There is no busy work. Aplia itself does not always match the book and you have to learn by error. but Myers is great. Offers hints before the final even.
Great professor. The tests were very easy, he gave good study guides, and was very helpful, understanding, and interesting. Very lengthy slides, so just get them online, and take misc. notes. Would recommend the cheap textbooks for the few questions on the study guides not covered in the slides.
Online class has a lot of classwork through Aplia. I wasn't very fond of the site's interface, but it wasn't terrible. Prof. Myers dropped 3 weeks worth of homework, but I don't know if that is the norm. Requires a 6 page research paper due at finals, so you need to actually understand the material enough to write one. Overall good professor.
Mr. Myers is very intelligent but not very clear in explaining the content that will be on the test but everything going on in the world. He talks about himself a lot and gets off topic very easily and has a hard time steering the class back on topic. Overall nice guy but not an affective teacher. Read the book and your fine.
Myers is an OK professor, it is quite hard not to leave when he's ALWAYS talking about himself rather than the lecture. There's no attendance so save yourself some time and study off the book, easiest B ever!
Some of these comments are ridiculous. Myers occasionally talks about his experiences when they are relevant to the class. Unfortunately, most students don't have the intelligence to plug two and two together. Take this class only if you're interested and intelligent or else your going to have a bad time like these commentators.
I took online course and it wasn't too bad. You use Aplia for all of your work (homework/quizzes). Then you have a P.E. paper(2 pgs long), forecast paper, and a final. NOT that hard if you dedicate SOME time. I would really recommend the online course, its an easy B, especially, if you have a lot of classes/busy semester like i did.
Myers is a very inspiring teacher. He has a good sense of humor and is clear in what he expects. I have had him for three classes and have enjoyed all of them.
He's very knowledgeable but can be very very confusing. Just know that for most of time he uses words DIRECTLY from the text into the test. So, that was very helpful. 3 tests including the final + one research paper that proved almost impossible because he suggested we read books instead of just articles. Only take if you really have to,
Speaks in a very educated language that is some times hard to understand. Kinda weird but funny, no homework just tests. Basically read the book like he says and you will get an A.
Very clear and willing to spend time with you to make sure you understand the material. He has a wicked sense of humor.
Very fun and informative class.
I never had a great econ teacher like Todd. He uses powerpoint directly from the book! Each day he reviews from what we previously learned following the new chapter. Each exam is 5 chapters but VERY easy. Read the chapters and you will do great! No surprises. 1 PE essay and a cancer research essay. NO HOMEWORK.
Todd is a great teacher! He's entertaining & engages his audience. He relates the concepts to relevant things. He's straightforward, nice, & wants you to succeed. Do the readings & study them, & you'll be fine. Be sure to finish the readings before class also, as this will help you learn the material better. Highly recommend.
I took the Pol. Science 121 hybrid one day a week & rest online he is a very nice proffesor but I would not recommend taking this class lots of Aplia work online which some is from the book rest have to find online it doesn't make sense sometimes! 2 papers, pointless lectures & boring. Don't take it!
Incredibly difficult due to the three tests being the only grades. Really have to put time into it. The lectures are long and his monotone voice is hard to concentrate on. If you can take econ online, do it.
Classes revolve around films and discussions about politics. Very helpful with research paper and knows something about everything.
Myers is funny, gives study guides for tests, and has your write a research paper. Best teacher at Grossmont.
The material is confusing, but the instructor helped us understand with the discussion boards. He used our written perceptions to provide feedback to the whole class via email so we knew if we were on track or missing an essential point. All my questions were answered. Plenty of hard work, but it was rewarded.
Conversational lectures, is very thorough on each and every concept. Appreciates interaction, but generally won't mark you off for not saying much. Uses a lot of slides, but not excessively so, and you can always go online to blackboard to see anything again.
Took the class online. Expect a lot of Aplia assignments, also expect to pay extra for it (Around $125). Aplia assignments make no sense and they're averaged, so your first try is always down the drain, with your second try you get half the credit, and it is 35% of your grade (REALLY hard to get an A).
It is not that hard to get an A in the class. He drops three of the lowest test scores in aplia. He also is very helpful if you ask him questions.
Great professor. I've taken him for two classes, and I got A's both times. His tests are online, and they aren't extremely difficult. Just make sure you read the book because absolutely nothing he said from his lecture was on his tests. He makes lectures interesting. He's a little out there, but he's cool. He'll answer any questions you have.
4 online tests, all on 3-4 chapters. Weekly homework which is the worst part of the class. Homework allows 3 attempts, but has no relevance to the test questions. The homework assignments are averaged to be the 5th component of your grade. 4 tests and homework avg is your overall grade. Funny and nice guy but lectures are boring. Class is optional.
Class is not too difficult. He explains concepts with good detail. He will answer questions during office hours.
Hardest class I have ever taken. The online weekly assignments took 2-6 hours per week and were not explained clearly in the book. He offers no lectures or tools to help with weekly assignments. Sends short recap of topic and end of week. If you are not able to teach yourself Economics, then DO NOT TAKE HIM! A 7 pg paper was required.
100% online class and textbook. Homework on aplia each week was tedious, but not difficult. Discussion questions also due each week. Was easy to reach by email. Research paper due at the end. Don't let it sneak up on you and you'll be fine. Overall, class was pretty fun. He enjoys what he does.
Todd is not your average teacher. He is interesting. He is the manifestation of philosophy. A real head scratching, beard stroking thinker. This class has a lot of religion in it. AND most importantly Todd doesn't asume to be correct, he is not afraid to be wrong yet he agrees that some answers are difficult to find. An acquire taste (beard stroke)
I took his Micro class freshman year, easy A, his tests and finals were true false/ multiple choice. I figured his online class would be just as easy but I was dead wrong. I would read full chapters of the book and still be baffled on the homework. you are required to write an essay of a minimum of 6 pages. DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLINE CLASS!!!
Lectures are conversational, thinks aloud & muses a lot. Welcomes comments from students, and doesn't take himself too seriously. Test questions are DIRECTLY from the book, you can just rent it(no online code) and if you take good notes and you'll do well on the tests. Start the 10 page paper early, it sneaks up on you at the end of the semester.
Showing up to lecture is pointless. He puts all the slides online. Went to class for two weeks and realized it was necessary because he just reads the slides and goes on random tangents. If you take the time to study slides you should be good.
I'll make it clear off the bat, Professor Myers is an amazing lecturer if you are majoring as Poli Sci. He lectures don't relate to the material, but he is interesting and very out there, in a good way. 4 tests, 1 paper, two essays. If you aren't interested in Poli Sci, I would say pass. But if you are, highly recommend Professor Myers.
Difficult online class if new to econ ideas. Grade consists of equal parts: forum, research paper, final and aplia exercises. The forums are interesting. Research paper was fun and straight forward. Aplia assignments are challenging, must read text and lectures. Final exam is difficult. Fair at grading.
Lectures are very boring. He gets distracted a lot. Smart but he seems like he hates his job. Online homework was easy if you focused otherwise it was confusing and dreadful. I got a C without trying.
I don't mind reading. But my complaint is this is a foundational course in political theory yet we didn't get any introduction to the theories. Jumping right into Plato and Aristotle at the beginning with no framework within which to understand them, it's hard to discuss their concepts. Also, "lectures" online should be real not just PPT bullets.
If you don't absolutely need to take Econ 120 online then just don't. This class was very challenging and I had to teach myself pretty much 90% of the content. I wouldn't blame the teacher, he is there to help, but I think this is a class that is much more suited to being taught in person and also not packed into a month (I took it intersession).
Oh Todd Myers... He is a character! I always saw people dozing off during his lectures but I always thought he was funny and entertaining despite the subject. His class is very simple, take the 4 tests, write your essay and you will be fine. If you ask for help he will go above and beyond to help you. I had him for 3 semesters and I learned a lot.
As a political science major, I enjoyed Prof. Myers' lectures greatly! However, he does often stray away from the topics we are suppose to learn about. He is strange, yet humorous. 4 online tests and a 10-page paper is basically the grade. Textbook is a must. Also, I suggest this course for political science majors for the content is advanced.
I took Myers for ECON 120 during summer 2017. This was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. There is a bunch of reading to do nightly and the assignments are different than what you read, and are worth 35%. There also is an 8-10 page paper that was graded leniently. If you do take Myers purchase CHEGG. It helps with the Aplia assignments.
When Mr Myers discussed the lectures he was fairly effective at narrowing down the most important parts of each chapter. However, he tends to go off topic and talk about politics alot which gets very irritating. This is an economics class not political science. He is reasonable and cares about his students. Overall decent teacher.
He provide a free source of textbook for student, so we don't need to purchase one. The grade distribution is 75% for 3 tests and 25% for assignment. The assignment is mostly a critical thinking from each chapter and type a short answer for it. I suggest to open the textbook when taking the test because he will ask some really detail questions.
His online class was pretty easy, only reason I got a C was because I missed a few responses from his weekly assignment and because I didn't study much to prepare myself for the tests. Will be taking his class again because his class is self explanatory just have to apply yourself to actually read the chapters. Determined to get an A next semester.
This was by far my most difficult class of the semester, but also the most rewarding. His knowledge of, and work in the field is incredible. It can be a bit intimidating at first but were lucky to have this caliber of Professor here at Grossmont. He was always happy to answer questions and help me keep up with the lecture. Cares about students
Amazing professor! I took both his econ 120 and 121 classes, and I always recommend him to my friends! The course is pretty straight forward, read the textbook and you will do well on the homework and test. He is very understanding, and is very helpful if you need help with the topics!
An extremely thorough and understanding professor. The way he thinks and believes makes you see things from a different perspective. His attendance was not mandatory and he did get off topic at times, but always made sure it applied to the work. Consistently changed due dates to make things easier for students
The class is super hard and the material tends not to make sense at times. The exams are really hard so you better reread each chapter twice. Theirs 3 exams and each contain 5 chapters in them but they aren't cumulative. I found the class to be really hard but then again its econ. I would highly recommend trying to find another econ teacher.
Confused on grading. Due to it being online we used Mindtap and things transferred over to Dashboard in regards to grades. I thought I would be receiving a B+ in the class but when things got recalculated I ended with a C. This shocked me but I am not a great Exam taker so the Exams each are 20 % of the grade and there was 4.
Major: poli sci. He babbles so much it's hard to focus during lecture. I don't know how so many people love him on here, he's the hardest teacher to understand because he adds so much unecessary fluff to everything he says. He's off topic 90% of the time, and completley uninteresting. Book is also all over the place so it's hard to teach youself.
I'm gonna be honest: I don't even know how I got an A in this class. It was the most difficult thing I have ever done. Even though I am a poli sci major, I felt stupid because his lectures and powerpoints were so difficult to comprehend. I recommend this professor if you are actually interested in the subject. If not, don't do this to yourself.
An extremely difficult class. It's intriguing if you like political theory, but if you don't care about any of that, you are going to be miserable. Very test heavy too.
This class had no zoom meetings and the only assignments were 6 multiple choice Tests. Read the book, study, and you will pass. There were 3 extra credit assignments that you can do that was interesting and helpful so make sure you do them.
Right off the bat, free textbook and only graded off 6 exams the entire semester. If economics is a passion of yours then you're going to love this class, if not as long as you do the reading and take notes you'll be okay. He's insanely difficult to get a hold of, but just pay attention and read all the course material and you'll have no issues.
He only has exams for you to do
Professor Meyers is IMPOSSIBLE to contact outside of class. He doesn't respond to any emails or canvas messages or anything. He give a very clear grading criteria and syllabus. He locks all the tests so that you get a grade but cannot review any answers or see what you missed. Also he only gave one of the two promised extra-credit opportunities.
Dr. Myers is a good professor to take. He's friendly and respectful with his students. There's 1 easy assignment at the beginning of the semester, 6 fairly easy tests you'll have to take, and he gives out extra credit if you complete some economic reflection assignments halfway through the semester. This class is an easy A. He's very caring too!
I work full time and was doing part time school and this is a easy class. You don't have homework just 5 tests based on the reading and its multiple choice. If you need direction or structure, maybe this professor isn't for you but i will take him again for Econ 121.
This class is incredibly easy if you read the lecture slides and write a post. The only challenge is the biographies, but if you research someone you are interested in, it's easy. If you want an A, take his class online. If you want to actually learn about political philosophers/their thought, do not take it online.
took online during summer. 5 tests one final. all reading on your own and no homework. took him over a week to answer an email. The tests were tricky, and the final was very difficult. it is not just learning the terms. Do the extra credit it bumped me a whole grade.
Not sure how anyone could find him a difficult professor unless taken in person? Super easy, 1 discussion post a week literally worth ONE point as a makeup or free point if you miss a question on the test. Textbook is free but I never read it. He didn't speak much other than some announcements and info on topics so if you don't like that be aware.
He has a lot of passion for economics and is one of those teachers you can get to go on tangents all class. The class itself wasn't that hard. Tests were taken online over the weekend.
I missed my test so I emailed him asking if I could take it, and within one hour he responded and opened it back up for me and he did not even ask why I missed it. Amazing teacher! + He does NOT bombard you with a ton of homework... the hw is 1 discussion post weekly; 2 replies... but you learn a lot and it was lowkey simple/straight to the point
Very nice grader. If you are really good at staying within due dates, this class is really good for you. Took this class as a junior over summer and still ended up with a good grade I definitely recommend it!!
Very simple assignments and was a fast responder with emails for an all online class. Was an easy grader on the discussion posts as long as you follow the rubric, and exams were not bad at all!
Professor Myers has a clear system that works well if you engage with it. The lectures and free textbook are useful, and attending study sessions can be helpful. For exam prep, try using unstuck ai alongside other resources like ChatGPT.
By far the worst professor I have had at Grossmont. It seems there's 0 effort into any course material. All we did was a handful of discussion posts and 4 test. There was even a week or two where there was 0 activity on canvas. Only pro is all work is easy since it seems no more than five minutes have been put into the thought of the questions.
I had a great experience with him. He's AMAZING at timely responses and grading, this is such an important trait for professors since it shows he respects students and their time. The class weight is half effort half tests, so you can afford a bad test or two. If you fail, it's solely due to lack of effort on the students' part.
This is a good professor and he is very nice, this class was very easy and I would take this class again.
Such a mean person. No understanding for any situation outside. I missed a test because I had to drive my entire family to the airport whch was 3 hours away and i didnt get home until 2 am, and he tells me "take the hit and dont miss any more exams" like wtf am i supposed to do with that. its not hard to just unlock it. I wouldnt take him ever!!!!!
SUPER EASY CLASS! Super boring class and pretty much talks about nothing just his personal life and what-ifs. Talks ab nothing on the exam however the answers are right there on google. No homework or attendence needed. I took this class pretty much with my eyes closed it was so easy. I highly recommend of you need easy credit.
Professor Meyers is definitely one of the most unique instructors I've ever had. He has a real talent for ragebaiting in class discussions. ironically, he didn't even know what that word meant, which somehow made it even funnier. His lectures could be hit or miss some days felt slow, but then other days he'd turn the topic up to 100.
