Very helpful, but hard exams
No Comments
Good professor w/ clear lectures, but exams are very difficult. You really need to know your material. Very helpful guy overall, especially if you're a bio major.
Professor Turtle is one of the hardest-working and most educational men you'll meet.
Dr.Rimkus is an awesome Professor. If you listen in class and write notes on everything taught in lecture, you should do fine. You have to study for his exams, do not expect to go into class without preparing hard for the exam. At all times, avoid studying the night before the exam.
IIIII LOVED THE CLASS!!! GREAT TEACHER!! JUST MAKE SURE YOU PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS, THEN EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE.
Good teacher. Knows what he is doing. makes the class fun and makes the exams not fun at all. also a good advisor.
the best teacher i have ever had, you cant slack in the class or you wont do well but you learn so much from it
His lectures are really cool..u learn a lot..his tests are hard but you learn so much from him. he explains everything really well and this is one class that i stayed awake in;)
ive had him for tons of classes....awesome in all
Professor Rimkus is a very good teacher you learn alot in his class. I would suggest getting a tape recorder because he talks fast! You have to study because he has tough exams. He is organized and helpful.
Very tough on exams, but VERY fair. He is excellent at breaking the material down so you can understand it. He is also very accessible outside of class & will help you if needed. Dr. R also makes class fun and I looked forward to going every day.

I had no clue what he was talking about all semester, the tests were tough, but in the end he will help you get the grade you deserve if you try!
He cares for his students. I took him last summer and he rules, i dont recommend you to take him during normal semester, but taking him over the summer youll have an A. But he is only easy on non- BIOLOGY majors. If you want to be a doctor and learn take him, if you want to pull your hair out dont. I enjoyed him & alot in my class did too.
If you don't become part of his "FAVORITES" you will most likely not do well in his class.
The Best!
I learned a lot in this class. He is good at teaching the material in a way that is understandable. The exams are really tough, so they do take studying, but he is willing to help out if you need it.
Rimkus is awesome he's super cool and funny in a corny adorkable teacher way.
Brilliant teacher. honestly cares about students
Really cool and funny teacher, but weird with his tests. You go in there studying everything he taught you and you think you aced the test but end up with a bad grade. He doesn't even give you your test back so you can see what you got wrong which is a little strange. He also puts in grades 10 min right after the class is done which is weird too.
Cool but you have to study to get anywhere in his class.
Dr. R is awesome.. if you have the chance to take his class..GO FOR IT!! His tests really are not bad you just have to think about what he is asking you on each question. It is mostly common sense and notes. He cares about each student and is an awesome guy. TAKE HIS CLASS!!! MU '12
For the person the wrote on 1/6/06 ... if you want to see your answers all you have to do is go to him during office hours. He is very reasonable and a great teacher. Take his class if you get the chance!!
very hard... will not help u even ifu talk to him and if ur not his favorite drop the class
For a non-BIO major class, this was TOUGH! I wouldn't recommend the class to non-majors, as the class makes you want to rip your hair out. Positive ratings come from science majors. Lectures well, but the tests are quite difficult. Grades tests on same day. Plays favorites. Textbook isn't needed.
Best professor ever! Really helpful when you want to get extra help. I'm not a science major or a big fan of science but this class was fun and I really enjoyed taking it! I would definitely recommend it to everyone! Dr. Rimkus is a great professor!
hard tests. He discourages u from your dreams if u do bad from the beginning even if u pick it up in the end. Jesus Man, let it go.
This class is tough, no joke, if you dont study you will fail. Sleepness nights have gone by during the semester i had this class. Take notes and good luck, the test are tricky, think wisely, test ur luck
I had never been more frustrated. I studied non stop for this class and was lucky to get a low B grade on all of my tests. This class is very hard especially because of the tests which are written to try to trick you. You must understand the concepts and apply them to circumstances that you have never heard of before. Being his favorite helps.
He goes through his lectures EXTREMELY fast, and you NEED to take very good notes. Minimal studying will get you nowhere. You have to know the material, his tests are very tricky, and designed to trick you if you get the wrong answer (he makes the wrong answers as a choice) Willing to help but he favors the kids who study so much they have no lives
I am retracting my statement on 6/12 because it sounded a bit negative. The class was great because I learned so much and he pushed our class to exceed far beyond our expectations. It was hard because I had to study a lot but if you work hard, you can do very well in this class and learn so many cool things about anatomy to prepare u for your jo
This class is difficult in the fact that you probably won't pass the tests with a normal study schedule; with previous bio knowledge, you should be fine. Lectures are great, and he knows what he's talking about, but the test are very tricky and are about relating certain topics. I would suggest taking this class, but expect a lot of work, OK? Bye!
Rimkus is a great professor. He is funny, engaging, and VERY clear. Everything you need to know for his exams is in his lectures, so GO TO CLASS. The exams are a little bit tricky, but if you pay attention and spend a little bit of time each day studying, you will be fine! The lab helps too! Take him, he's great!
Not cool at all
He is a great Prof!! Love his lectures, but not the exams, super tricky. You really have to know the material and if you don't have previous knowledge getting A will be dream. Keeping up with study and lectures you'll pass the class. I reacomend to take his class for lectures, but not for exams. God Bless All of Students!!
If you are not his favorite he would pay no attention to you. You have to laugh at his stupid jokes and he will love you. Doesn't like diversity that much. Lectures and Test are totally opposite of each other. This guy is not a good teacher or counselor. Stay away from him.
He's is very helpful, and makes the course fun but very knowledgeable. It's a tough class, but if you use the resources to understand the material, you'll be set! He's very open to helping his students and answering any questions needed. highly recommended!
Rimkus is a very entertaining man who, although he has corny jokes, at least tries to make it interesting. The class is easy as long as you go to lecture and listen to him. Everything is handed to you in powerpoints so all you have to do is highlight. Tricky wording on exams but worth taking the class if you're interested
This was not a fun class. He used what he said in class on his tests, so power points and book are useless. Jokes were not funny and I was lucky to have passed his class. People, if you don't have to take this class, then don't. Waste of time and money.
He is a great teacher! His test are tricky but his lectures are exactly what you need to know. Requires a lot of studying but he is very helpful and if you put the effort in he will help you out. Highly recommend taking his class, you will learn a lot if you meet him half way!
You either love the class or hate it. You either get an A on everything or straight C’s. HIS CLASS REQUIRES ALOT OF WORK. He is a funny guy but he goes in SUPER detail on basic processes and tests you on them. If you MISS a class good luck because it will definitely hurt you. HE TEACHES ONLY from PPT that are aids to the book chapters.
TEACHES FROM PPT. NO NEED TO BUY TEXTBOOK for example I have only used it when I really can’t understand something. TEST questions come from lecture and Powerpoints. GREAT teacher just HARDDD work
Very engaging professor. Makes lectures fun, but the material is very difficult. Don't be afraid to ask him to explain something twice! He's very nice about it and helps you get the best grade possible.
He is a really good and nice teacher, however he does teach straight from the powerpoints. Pay close attention to what he is saying during the lectures and powerpoints because somethings are VERY important and not mentioned in the slides. His tests are a little tricky but he if you study the powerpoints and take good notes you'll be okay.
Very entertaining lecture, however, very rude and intimidating if you meet one on one. Exams will not always match materials learned in class so plan to be a bit surprised.
Very hard class, impossible to get an A. You will get tons of information and be expected to know everything. Record every lecture and expect to spend hours upon hours studying. Gives 4 tests and a final. Try to get a good lab grade it will boost overall grade.
The most important thing you can do it RECORD THE LECTURES. Everything on the tests comes from what he says in class. Two days before an exam, just make a point to listen to all of the lectures while taking notes, study those notes, and you will do fine on tests. If you are stuckconfused, go to his office hours and he will help you for sure.
A lot of information in lectures so go to class and take good notes- what he says is on the tests. After you take a test, go in and review it with him- he is a very fair grader. He is a great professor and I really suggest taking his classes.
Professor Rimkus knows his stuff. He is a great lecturer and will tell you what you need to know for exams. He can come off a little snarky at first but that is just his personality. Put forth the effort and you will pass the class. The textbook is helpful but if you come to class you will not need it.
Always attend his lecture! My best advice is to record all of his lectures, study the info from lecture, and do the practice assignments he posts online. Everything on his test are from lectures or the practice assignments. He explains the material very well. He's also willing to help if you don't understand the information.
If you absolutely hate science as I do then you may NOT want to take this class. His test are extremely hard and the lectures will have you looking in space. However, if you ask him for help or just simply speak to him about what you are struggling with he will help you.
Dr. Todd Rimkus is a fun always joking around with us the students. He seems to have so much fun talking about the things we don't give a flying damn about. He is also always trying to give us less info and filtering that info which he will always says "you guys don't care about this".
He is an awesome professor. However, his test are really hard. He says he's not trying to trick you, but when you get a question that's the exact definition for something but the answer is for another word... I'd say that's someone trying to trick you. however, you'll actually learn in his class. Just record the lectures and you'll be fine.
I only took him for the Summer session and the class was super easy. I'm not a bio major, so I felt like I got just the amount of biology that I needed. The whole thing was very hands-on in terms of the work you did: touching plants and animals, etc.
Rimkus was a really cool Anatomy and Physiology professor. He was really kind, funny and even managed to work with students if there was a conflict with their grade or scheduling. I highly recommend him. And!! He posts up his lectures in a video form in case anyone missed the class. Oh and tests are fairly easy, so long as you study for them!
Hes rude and intimidating to those who are not necessarily his favorite or may have rubbed him the wrong way. I just wished he was more open and friendlier to everyone.
It's lecture heavy and the class goes by EXTREMELY slow. Honestly, you don't have to come to class, he has his lectures online (just take detailed notes there). On the test, he'll have "free points", helps.. but not really. The test are tricky. He doesn't give good feedback either. GOOD LUCK!
He is pretty intimidating and can be rude sometimes. The grade is only based on the tests and the tests are all based on his lectures. He posts his lectures online though so it is not mandatory to go to class. But you have to pay really close attention to the lecture because all he does is talk and the powerpoint is useless.
Dr. Rimkus is a great professor. he is very caring and wants his students to succeed. That being said: This class will REQUIRE you to study LOTS and I mean LOTS. Rimkus only has 4 exams and the final for the entire year. He does not give any other assignments. BUT, he does give extra credit on exams which will help your test grade. STUDY HARD!!
I do not even know a thing about BIO and still got a B+. He is a nice and an easy going professor. He helps a lot with his exams (Giving us so many Circles to get good grades) and he is super FUNNY!
This professor is a tough grader. He teaches analytical, you have to study hard for his test to even pass. Its not all mutiple choises. Powerpoints are extra long the lecture is heavy take good notes to pass this class.
Rimkus, best teachers in Marymount hands down. He is understanding and flexible when it comes to exam due dates. His exams are all MC and T/F so you actually have to study the material. Heavy lecture but if you miss class, you won't miss anything coz you'll have the lecture posted on canvas. Just work with him and he'll reciprocate. funny as well!
was an ok professor, he had the lectures posted on canvas which was helpful. the tests weren't super bad but if you don't do well on them he can be a little condescending. this class is graded only by exams so you have to do well on them for it to reflect your overall grade
Study! He grades based off tests only but includes online lectures for all units.
This man is brutally honest!! You have to study hours if you want to pass his class. You will only have exams so do not depend on classwork/homework. You do not receive the test back to see what you got wrong. You will have to make an appointment. He will try to crack a few jokes.
Rimkus is a great professor however this class is not easy by any means. You definitely have to study and work hard for your grade but his online lectures are very helpful as secondary study material. Your grade is entirely based on exams which is both good and bad. Hes approachable but could also be condescending and slightly rude sometimes.
Belize Trip: UNBELIZEABLE
Unbelizeable!!!! We love the same show & we love reading.
Where to begin. This guy was the worst. Not respectful to students and their situations at all. His tests are made for Only those with an absurdly high IQ to pass. Even if you sit in front of him to regurgitate the information correctly, he will not be impresses. Extremely condescending.
Taking Bio 127, the study abroad trip to Belize, was incredible. Dr. Rimkus is amazing and the trip was perfect. I learned so much! It's obviously a very nontraditional class, all we did was a one page reflection, a power point slide, & an essay, and learned and participated on the trip. I can't stress how much this class meant to me.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! He is not a good teacher and his test are really really hard. Also the only thing he grades are the test, save yourself and don't take this class!!!!!! Good luck on passing.
Terrible stay away. Not sure why he enjoys to see students do bad in his class.
Take it somewhere else
Horrible
He needs to be expelled from teaching. He uses slides from like 1900's.
STAY AWAY!!!
Bad teacher! Does not give wants students to succeed. Does not give back exam to reevaluate and know what you got wrong. Your grade is based on only tests.
Rimkus is a very tough grader and his tests are extremely difficult and specific. You will not pass the class if you do not show up and do not study. His powerpoints lack information and visuals which makes his lectures all the more important. To pass his class you will have to look for outside sources as well.
His lectures are hard to follow; most are just visuals, and he speaks over them. He records his lectures as if that is gonna help. He does not explain things where one can fully grasp the topic. His tests are worded very confusing, which is very difficult for those who have trouble comprehending certain texts.
Exams for this class were extremely challenging and confusing. He is a nice professor, but sometimes it is hard to follow his lectures as majority of class time is spent going over slides that are mainly pictures. Be sure you attend most classes as a lot of the exams is based on what he goes over in class.
Took Mr. Rimkus during summer for bio 120 and lab, I kid you not all we did was go outside and take pictures and did a presentation of those pictures. Waste of money. Easy A though
lectures were hard to follow; only used pictures on slides. exams were long and hard and was rude.
One of the best professors. A lot of material, and exams were hard so make sure to study and take good notes. He posts all lectures and even makes notes for each lecture. He wants everyone to pass with a good grade and will help you. No homework, Attendance isn't mandatory but going to his lectures in person is worth it.
this was the hardest class i ever took, watch the ee videos and view the lecture notes on canvas. the exams are extremely difficult, make sure you fully understand everything. he gives extra credit but makes his exams hard on purpose.
