Very smart, not very fun though
Great Teacher! He is very clear about what he is teaching, wants everyone to understand. Very smart about this topic. Good Class, Easy exams if you study.
He's a great professor. It's obvious that he's passionate about what he is teaching and he doesn't bull....he tells you what you need to know and makes it relatable
Superb teacher. Highly recommended!
If you go to class you shouldnt have a problem, he tells you what he is going to ask on the tests. There's enough tests that even if you fail a couple you can do decent in the class.
great teacher, great class, is there a better way to fullfill a U.P.? i submit there is not!! overall, i learned a lot, was interested in what he had to say, and did very well in the class! go ahead and take it!
He is nice, but hates people who walk in late. He talks a little bit too fast, but he covers everything on the quizes. The grading scale is hard. He's a nice guy though.
Easy U.P. and interesting! The tests are easy just learn the terms in the book and go to class.

great professor! he really cares about the subject and will make sure you understand.
really cool class and he is a great prof!
he knows what hes talking about, he rarely looks at notes. its an easy class, quizzes every 2 weeks, but not too hard. he tells you whats on them so just study the night before and youre good. the quizzes are basically the only thing you do except listen to him talk, which isnt too boring (not the best, but..)
Very nice guy. He really knows a lot about what he teaches. Quizes are really hard, so make you sure you study a lot. You'll learn a lot by taking this class.
Good teacher...quizes every week...VERY HARD, study alot...one big paper, 7 quizes and exams is your point scale...wouldnt suggest this class unless your intrested.
Great teacher. He's knows his material, but you must do your part and study. Make sure you attend lecture because it's really the most important part.
Class was very difficult, gives you an insane paper to write at the end, was a nice guy and teaching wasn't bad, tests were harder than necessary, no study guides. Like the guy, hated the class, was a VERY tough grader, especially for the final paper, I thought I did a very good job, he didn't think so. I'm an A-B student, this class killed my GPA.
Great Professor! He explains everything really well... or at least tries too. He's a nice guy and knows a lot about Indian religion. His exams are a little difficult, but just study your notes.
Dr. Tremlin was an amazing prof. He has all of the notes laid out for you as they would be on the test. He is very helpful if you make the effort to go talk to him. Very interesting and well taught. Quizzes were very easy if you stuided your notes. I didn't really read the book at all except to look up vocab. Take it!
He's a great professor but not very helpful via email. If you want halp from him, go to his office hours. He's kind of synical but he knows his stuff. You definitely need to go to lecture to do well on the tests -- the information isn't all in the book.
Great professor- really interesting material and easy to listen to- not monotone or boring. You NEED to go to class to do well on the quizzes! Don't skip or you will regret it. Actually doing the reading is a good idea- the text isn't that boring. Keep up with your religion comparison handout- it'll suck if you have to remember it all in the end.
I never thought I would enjoy religion, but then I had his class. They way the class is laid out is awesome: you spend two weeks focusing on one tradition, take a quiz based on the notes from class (all powerpoint), and then move on. Very awesome.
Great prof! Lays out his class very well. Quiz's are all based on his notes, he even tells you what notes to take. He's a very passionate guy really into his class. Great class to get a UP done. I didn't even has an interest in religion before taking his class, and it was that awesome of a class for me.
This class was a amazing. It has been my favorite class at CMU so far. Very interesting. He is a excellent teacher, and very helpful, he knows his stuff and you find yourself wanting to go to class just to hear what he has to say. You will do well if you attend class, and study your notes and vocab before a quiz. I def. recommend this class!!!
Great class. Great teacher. Just go to class and write down the simple notes and you'll do well.
Tremlin is probably the best professor I have had at CMU so far. He is very organized and spoon feeds every you need to know for the tests. If you go to class and study for the exam the day before you should get at least a B+ in the class. I definitely suggest this class to all.
he is awesome...
Great teacher/class. I had it @ 9 in the morning, and I always went because it was that interesting. Easy as well, make sure to take down the notes and every class you'll get some information to help you for your next quiz. Passionate about the subject, overall a great UP filler.
Makes what could be a boring subject EXTREMELY interesting. Lots of material is covered so take lots of good notes and study. His quizes and tests do cover what he discusses in class. If you pay attention in class and study you will do well. Highly recomended
good guy
Best Professor at CMU, bar none. Great lectures, very helpful, stays unbiased in a survey religion course, very interesting. I recommend this class and professor to everyone. Very interesting lectures, need to be there to get all the notes. Final exam is cumulative.
Great Teacher and guy
Todd is an awesome teacher. Very helpful, easy to learn from and super attractive beyond that. Take any of his classes, I have taken every one he has taught... <3
Definitely one of the best professors I've had. He makes everything really interesting and it's a great way to fill a UP. I would highly recommend this class especially with Tremlin.
I was interested in different religions and Tremlin goes through a lot in such a short period of time. I had this class suggested to me and now I'm suggesting it to all my friends.
Tremlin is the most interesting prof I've ever had at CMU. Makes every class he teaches interesting. Explains clearly his expectations for exams and papers so they are really easy to get an A on if you try. Highly recommend him for any class he teaches, I've taken 3 for UPs.
An awesome person all around and brilliant professor! Always helpful and open to suggestions. Learned so much from him and his class and will never forget it!
I have taken all the classes that Todd teaches at CMU. He is a great prof. and is very respectful. He is easy to contact and always welcomes students to come and talk during office hours. He's a great guy.
Tremlin is without the best professor I have had at CMU. I wish I could take more classes with him. He made things that should have been really complicated easy to understand. You can tell he really cares about the material and his students. I highly recommend taking REL 101 with him.
Todd is so passionate about this subject, he made going to class fun!
Prof. Tremlin is a great professor! This class is extremely interesting and he makes it a lot of fun! I wish I could take more classes with him! Take him! Highly recommended!
Great class and great professor. Tells exactly what you need to know for the class. Stays unbiased on a very sensitive topic.
Dr. Tremlin is the BEST professor I've had at CMU. This is the 2nd class I took him for and I was glad to do so. There were 3 exams and 3 reflection papers (2-3pgs long). Fascinating topic and well taught without a bias by Dr. Tremlin. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Went into this class without great expectations but definitely enjoy class everytime and look forward to going to class. It can get a little boring occasionally but he makes things interesting and basically feeds you notes. Awesome teacher and would definitely recommend for any class.
I loved this class, Tremlin in amazing and a genius and totally sparked my interest in Religion and everything. I loved the class learned a lot. & he's probably the only prof I've ever had a crush on. Brains and Beauty? Comeon now
Tremlin was an amazing professor. He is very passionate about the subject and makes classes extremely interesting and easy to understand. I highly recommend taking any class with him.
This is the best class i've ever had at central. He tells you exactly what to study and all of his exams are the same. if you go to class you will get an A. I suggest taking this class it really enlightens you.
this guy is a stuck up rat. this "doctor" assigns papers, doesn't explain how he wants them written, then takes points off. EVERYTIME you ask a question he's got that look on his face that hes better than you.
I've never been so enthralled about a class. This isn't my major, yet every day I looked forward to his lectures. His exams remind me of high school exams (matching, MC, short answer...)--they're very straight forward. He knows psychology. The papers are easy points with a little bit of effort. Take notes and study and you'll get an 'A'.
Tremlin rocks. This guy really knows his stuff and he's always willing to help. Go to every class and take detailed notes. Exams weren't too bad - neither were the essays. This was by far one of the best classes I've taken in my time at CMU - if you're having doubts about taking him, let me just say: TAKE HIM! You won't regret it.
Tremlin is an awesome teacher and his classes are super interesting. I would def recommend taking any of his religion classes. Books are rarely used but come in very handy for vocab on the exams.
Todd is awesome, he is very helpful and understanding. I had medical issues while taking his class was extremely understanding and willing to help me with content. Also he is bad to look at either.
Amazing class and wonderful teacher! Tremlin is not biased on any topics and talks about captivating ideas. He is one of the best teachers I have had at CMU...wanted to attend every class, because he is such a great teacher! Take Tremlin!
Very interesting class... I think everyone should be required to take this class to more open their minds. Tremlin is very enthusiastic about REL and it shows in his lectures. If you study, you will get an A... He goes over everything you'll need to know.
He is a very interesting prof who is very passionate about his subject! Quizzes are easy as long as you study. I highly recommend this class and he is definitely a good professor and you will learn a ton
Best teacher I've had at CMU. Took 304 and 101, and am going to take 222 with him. He is smart, unbiased. Talks about interesting topics and really opens you up to new ideas. I didnt read either textbook and did minimal studying and got an A in both classes. Just an overall great and interesting teacher and an easy class.
Incredible class, great lectures. This professor cares about your grade and wants you to succeed. Five "quizzes," one essay, a comparison chart, and a final exam. Not a bad work load but a very interesting subject. And, he's very attractive.
This is probably the most interesting class I have taken in 4 years at CMU. Dr, Tremlin handles a very sensitive topic with unbiased and professional style. This class WILL make you question what you believe and respect the beliefs of others. You must attend class!! He does not take attendance but the topics are not revisited. Take good notes!!!
Dr. Tremlin is a smart guy and is enthusiastic about his subjects. Buddhism, however, was not as interesting as other classes he teaches. The class was pretty easy, though the material on the exams was a bit vague.
"Psychology and Religion" was usually an interesting class. Tremlin really loves his subject matter, and his teaching reflects that. The lectures were thought-provoking, and he took great caution to make sure he didn't offend anyone. The tests and papers are relatively easy, as long as you take the required notes.
Tremlin was an awesome teacher... he really made me look forward to coming to class to learn about religion. I took this class just for the UP and im a Bio major, but it really changes your way of thinking about a lot of things and is quite easy right off the notes. Awesome class and prof.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Professor Tremlin is witty, intelligent, and makes class fun. You'll need the textbook for vocab terms, but otherwise it's not necessary. Every class is important, so don't skip at all.
Super interesting class! You definitely don't need the "textbook" he assigns, just the supplemental reading. I didn't open mine once and got a solid A. If you miss class you probably missed something important, and he probably won't go over it again. Also, he's super attractive, which helps.
Great professor overall. Very interesting, quizes are consistant just pay attention, take all notes (not many). Keep an open mind and its a very good class.
Excellent teacher, actually makes religion interesting. Learned a lot from this class. I also took REL 101 with him which was also easy and really interesting. Presents material really well and really clear on what he wants you to know. Would def. suggest him for a teacher if you have to take any religion classes
Great professor, willing to help students. Presents everything clearly and his tests are straight forward. Kind of funny sometimes, makes religion worth going to. Probably one of my favorite professors.
Great professor! Very knowledgeable and helpful. As long as you go to class, take notes, and study for the exams you can get an A or B easily.
He is really passionate about Buddhism. Tests are hard, final he greats really hard. Just do the work and spend time on the class and you'll get an A. I didn't and got a B
Dr. Tremlin is a well versed professor in religion and psychology. He's interesting to listen to, and his tests are easily conquered with minor studying. Papers require slightly more thought, but still manageable. To do well in the class, you either have to read the texts, or go to lecture. Both are not necessary. Highly recommended!
Dr. Tremlin was a great professor. If I take any future religion classes, I will only take them with him. I never read , but went to class every time, and did just fine. Study the night before the tests and you'll do fine on them. Go to class. Don't be late, it's a pet-peeve of his.
If I had to pick my favorite class from my senior year, as a computer science major, I'd pick this one in a heartbeat. Tremlin has a fantastic speaker, with a rich vocabulary and captive rhetoric. Although I was interested in the subject before attending the class, Tremlin managed to make every lecture interesting, and with just 3 papers and exams!
Terrible Class. Apparently good in class but he was terrible for an online prof. He tried to squeeze in 6 books, 4 tests, a final paper and an activity in a eight week class. I am not scared of work but cramming so much in made it impossible to learn anything. Don't take this class unless you absolutely have to.
Todd is a great guy whos very down to earth. His voice trails off so sit close. He makes religion interesting, the exams are harder than you think. You will have to read 4 books, one for each religion. If you pay attention and go to class you will do fine!
Tremlin is a WONDERFUL professor. Honestly the best teacher I have had at CMU. I have taken him 3 times and wish I could take every class with him!! He is intelligent and has his classes set up perfectly, as long as you go to ever class there is no way you wont do well. He knows his subject. and totally deserves those red chili peppers ;)
Dr. Tremlin is great! If you attend class, you will pass with flying colors. He is very interested in talking to students in office hours. He is passionate and clear about the information. You can tell he really is enjoying being there, and it spreads to everyone else and makes it a really enjoyable experience! I suggest taking any of his classs
Tremlin is a genius, seriously. A very intelligent man who is able to translate very tough material to anyone who pays attention. Class isn't mandatory, but God help you if you miss. His classes are challenging but not impossible. I just wish other professors were like him.
I have now taken all of Dr. Tremlin's classes and I am very sad wishing there were more. Psychology and Religion is clearly his passion. This class rocked my world to say the least, I was EXCITED for every day of class, its the only time I've ever felt the cost of college was justified. Brilliant, funny, and obviously very attractive. I'll miss him
He's a good guy. To be honest I wasn't really interested in the subject going in, but his teaching makes it a good class. You'll enjoy and learn a lot in his classes.
He's a good guy. Explains the material very well. I wasn't really interesting going in, but his teaching made it a good class.
Ended up in this class to fulfill requirement, actually got a lot out of it. He uses real books, not text books. Great discussion questions and paper themes. Good choice of videos to accompany class. Is willing to discuss disagreements on test questions. Very available. Great lecture notes and study guides.
Absolutely amazing teacher. I went into this class thinking it would suck because I had to take it for a UP. First day was awesome and I love his class. I would recommend him to anyone. He pretty much gives you the answers for the quiz. As long as you pay attention (which isnt hard with him) and take notes you'll pass. I would take him again.
I have taken every class Tremlin offers. Incredibly smart, passionate, funny, and interesting, he is the best professor I have ever had by far. Go to class and you'll do fine- the textbook isn't necessary as long as you take diligent notes. Take any of his classes- you won't regret it. Bonus: he's ridiculously attractive.
Dr. Tremlin was an interesting and clear professor with a real passion for this topic. He readily responded to any requests for clarification and responded with a satisfying amount of detail to my questions and comments on the reading material. Highly recommended!
If you enjoy tests that are verbatim from your reading, or "tricky" with words, this class is for you! I was initially very interested in the class, but his unreasonably tough tests ruined it. He says he's going to be specific w questions, but then assumes you are generalizing when studying. 100 on all assignments, but a C in the class due to test
LOVED this class. SUPER interesting. Friend bought the book and was mad because they didn't help at all. HAVE to go to class, he covers a different topic every day. For the first part of class STUDY. THE. CHART. that he gives you the day before you switch topics -You'll know which one. Such a nice guy, easy grader. Absolutely loved the class.
Best professor I ever had. I loved going to his class, his lectures were so interesting and he is passionate about the subject. If you don't go to class, worst thing is you miss the notes for the quizzes. Make a friend because the notes aren't online in the event that you do miss a class. No busy work, just quizzes and a paper at the end.
Online class. One chapter (one religion) per week. No surprises, a multiple choicetrue false exam and one discussion response. In depth study guide for exams. Although I had to think deep in what I read and reflected on, he's expanded my writing skills with great in-depth feedback. Show your effort, get the credit.
I took this class freshman year and really had a difficult time. During lecture, he would give answers during class, but you will never know until you go to his office hours and ask why am I note doing well on quizzes. He lays out the information clearly and I learned a lot in his class. The book is mandatory and you have to attend class to pass!
Dr. Tremlin is a great professor! Very intelligent man who is very passionate about the subject. His lectures are always interesting, and his quizzes are always passable if you pay attention in class.
Great teacher. Loved the class. Only had to write one paper and as long as you show up, take notes, and listen to what he tells you, it's an easy class to do well in.
I really enjoyed going Dr. Tremlin as a professor! He did an amazing job, as long as you show up and pay attention you will have no problem getting an A! Even though this class is a WI class, you only right one paper. I would recommend him to anyone.
Great class and HIGHLY recommend. He really knows what he talks about and does not just talk off of powerpoint!
If you listen and take notes in this class, and study those notes really well before quizzes, you will do absolutely fine in this class. Professor Tremlin provides everything you need to be successful in this class. I loved it; great class, great teacher!
Tremlin is fantastic, one of my favorite professors at CMU. He is funny and his lectures are interesting. Exams are straight from the notes, so no textbook is necessary. Only grades are the exams and a paper at the end of the course. Would definitely take again.
I love Dr. Tremlin! He mumbles a little bit, so sit toward the front to hear well. Reading the chapters aren't really that necessary, but if you miss class, it's pretty hard to get all the information. Talk to him outside of class if you need help, it'll help him like you. He's great!
Dr. Tremlin is one of my favorite profs at CMU so far. His passion for what he does makes learning about everything so much easier and more interesting. Quizzes are easy if you study notes. When taking notes, write down EVERYTHING. Love this prof, loved the class. Would recommend to anyone. (Plus he looks like George Clooney)
Tremlin is my favorite professor and may even be the schools best. He is wicked smart and graduated from Yale University. There is 5 quizzes straight from what he tells you what will be on them. You do not need to buy the book. Just show up and take notes and you'll get an A. Also, no homework is assigned over the semester. 10/10 would recommend.
Tremlin is amazing. He is very lecture heavy, you will listen to him talk the entire class and write down almost everything on his powerpoints. He will tell you when you dont need to take notes when he is lecturing and when what he is saying wont be on the tests. Everything you write down is on the tests so study your notes and go to every class!
Tremlin is by far the best prof that I've ever had, this is not your everyday boring lecture, the way he explains is like stories and it's amazing. He is the reason that I am now a Religion Minor.
Such a fantastic professor. He's incredibly eye opening and this class isn't to shove any sort of religion down your throat. He's merely summarizing the religions and it's crazy how much he talks about that almost none of us know. 10/10 would definitely recommend him. GO to all the lectures and study and you should get an A
Best professor I have ever had! Wonderful, Inspirational, Humorous. His lectures are not boring and he is very easy. Go to class and you'll have all of the test information you need. Taking another of his classes.
REL101 with Tremlin My favorite class of all time!! Never have I been so inspired by a class or teacher, I truly gained so much insight about the rest of the world's outlook on life and literally felt my mind expanding during lecture. I would leave each class feeling enlightened & I didn't even mind having Friday class with this guy. A true gem.
Todd is awesome. He gives one project that is due at the end of the semester and he gives a test on each religion. Your grade is based on the tests, project and final exam. His lectures are interesting and he tells you what you should and shouldn't write down or what you need to know and what you don't.
There is a textbook, but I never used it. Go to class everyday, get all the information you need. In honesty, the class is only lectures and quizzes after a week or two of lecture. However, he knows what he is talking about and makes sure to make the lectures interesting! Project is a paper, whole semester to work on. I highly recommend him!
THIS GUY! Tremlin was a great professor. I loved his lectures, His passion for the subject matter really showed and he was a joy to have. I would definitely recommend taking any of his classes.
Very interesting lectures and gave great feedback on the papers I wrote. Attendance is not mandatory, but I highly recommend going to class because he gives several hints of what will be on the quizzes and explains all the concepts very well.
This class was one of the hardest classes I have taken. Tests are hard and he grades tough.
Dr. Tremlin was a joy to have as a professor. I had him for REL 101 and REL 397 and enjoyed both courses thoroughly. He does not take attendance, however, this was not an issue due to the interesting nature of his classes. Overall, he is to the point and you know what is to be expected. Does not overload students. Humorous and witty guy.
Nice guy. Grade is bases solely on the quizzes over the 5 religions he teaches. Quizzes are fairly hard, so study. Project due at the end. Haven't started it yet so we will have to see!
Dr. Tremlin is a very fun prof to have. Never felt bored during any of his lectures, and somehow he makes learning religion enjoyable. Took as just a filler credit and dont regret it. You need to study for the quizs but thats not too hard considering all the info he gives you.
I took this Professors online class, REL 320, and it has been the best online class I've taken in a while. Directions are clear and concise. Be prepared to READ! But the reading material is easy to follow along with. I didn't start reading the book until around week 6, and I actually enjoyed it! Go figure.
I love Todd & have taken every course he offers at CMU. Personable, intelligent, and always available if you need help from him. Also, he is very easy on the eyes. Just take his classes.
Dr. Tremlin is a fantastic professor. You can tell he is extremely passionate about the topic. His tests are difficult so you definitely have to put time and effort into the tests but other then that, it was an extremely informative and interesting class. Also, great feedback on papers. 110% recommend.
Literally one of the coolest dudes I've ever met. the lectures are like a story and attendance is not mandatory. Only grades come from "Quizzes" and papers. For a WI it was waaay less work than any of the other WIs.
So, I was excited about this class as everyone speaks highly of him and I believe it just not as an online professor. He is a tough grader and will really sit and read your discussion boards. He is not as organized as other profs for online and I felt like I was always scrambling around in different books. Exams are easy and the assignment is too.
The class i took was a WI so we had to write 5 papers that only needed to be 2-3 pages, so not that bad. His class is really easy if you pay attention. Overall would take again!
He canceled half of the classes this semester and posted video lectures instead of meeting with students. When trying to email questions, he would often take several days to respond IF he responded at all. He never clarified instructions and we never had class so we couldn't ask him questions directly unless by emailing
This is my second time having this professor. I had him for REL101 and I have had him for 320. He is terrible with emails. This course is not ideal and actually pretty bad. The assignments are minimal, but some of them are borderline appropriation. This isn't a great class and for an 8-week course, it's way too much information.
This professor is a good professor, but the grading criteria can be a little difficult. There are discussion boards every week that are a large part of your grade, so take your time on them. There is also a 300 point report at the end, but that was pretty easy. It is an interesting course to learn. I would recommend this for filling a UP course.
This instructor is understanding of the adult learner's school/work/life balance. There are chapter readings, videos, documents, quizzes, and discussion boards every week (make sure that they discussion posts are engaging). There is also a 300 point (1500 words) report at the end of the course that seems challenging but goes quickly.
this class was super easy. he graded pretty easy if you did all the work. tests are open note but they are timed so it is hard to look up material so I would for sure take notes. Overall pretty easy class
The class was manageable overall, with clear instructions and engaging material. The weekly discussions and final report were challenging but doable. Unstuck ai was a helpful tool for preparing for the timed exams. The professor is approachable, though can be tough on grading. Recommended for filling a credit requirement.
Tremlin was solid and the class was not hard. One quiz a week, one db post and response a week, and a paper at the end. The quizzes are hard if you do not read everything and the questions are sorta random. Finished with an A though so cannot complain. If you need a cultures class, this one was relatively easy.
