This class is both extremely fascinating and challenging; I didn't know anything about computational genetics before, but I'm now interested in pursuing this important discipline of biology in the future. Dr. Vision uses a lot of interesting examples to explain complex (and potentially boring) topics. He is clear, fair, and obviously passionate.

It's only been a week with Dr. Vision, and he does not seem like a open professor. Most of the biology classes I have taken at UNC has organized lectures that are great to review after classes. His lectures are unorganized, and he never puts up the GRQ's or outlines at once so I'm preparing myself to make several inconvenient printing trips.

Very disorganized, often times leaves me more confused leaving class than I was coming in. He simply doesn't explain things well. Studying for exams is difficult because he doesn't post answers to anything. If you took BIO 101 or AP Bio you'll probably be fine conceptually, but you'll still be lost at times.

I know it's his first big lecture, but he doesn't take feedback to improve the structure. 1. Reviewing the lectures is pointless since he doesn't put the main points on the lecture. 2. Asking him to do a problem in class is a "waste of time." Active learning is great, but this is the worst bio class at UNC I have taken.

Not only is he an incoherent lecturer, he also does not give clear answers to the many resulting follow-up questions about his slides. I would go into class feeling like I understood 90% of the reading and leave more confused than I started. You won't miss anything by ignoring his lectures and are much better off taking good notes on the textbook.

I feel kind of bad when I look at his RMP score however I feel worse for me and the other students in this class. He is truly just not a good lecturer or test maker. He also seems to have no regard for how upset every student is at this class. I think he would rather be researching than teaching but was forced to teach a class.

Dr. Vision failed to adequately prepare and teach students the material. The exams were completely not in sync with the material covered in class (the material was not effectively taught or explained in a comprehensible manner either). Worst bio class I have ever taken. He should've also axed one exam completely based on failing scores received.

Dr. Vision is obviously a researcher stuck with a class requirement. I honestly am not sure if he has viewed his ratings but we aren't just kids mad at our grades and effort, but he should honestly be out in the field and not in a classroom.

I enjoyed Dr. Vision's lectures. However, this is my first Biology course at UNC, so I may be unfamiliar with the "regular" procedures, but I was excited and engaged in class everyday. He included fun videos and little short interactive pieces for the class. The tests were understandably difficult, but with work and dedication they were manageable.

Terrible. He went way too fast during class and made his tests unnecessarily vague. For reference the other bio 201 teacher had an average of 80 on the test, and visions' tests had sub 60 averages. Same students. dont take him, take evans

Maybe the worst educator in North America. I was really tempted to give him a 2/5 because he does rock a sick DNA sweater when he "lectures" about genetics, but anything above a 1/5 isn't a realistic rating. In all honesty, he's a good guy, but he should just stick to research.

Dr. Vision isnt very swag money. If you NEED the course you'll survive, but youre GPA most likely wont. Bad teacher and very little help in office hours. Class averages for his exams are 70%< and his curves just seem to only be there to help his grade distribution.

The worst professor/teacher I've ever had in my life. Even if you can get past his monotonous and nasal voice, you won't be getting past his horribly written exams. He doesn't care about his students, and now they certainly don't care for him.

The most accurate thing I've heard about Dr. Vision is that he has the charisma of a corpse. He is an awful lecturer. It's not hard material but he tests on really weird little details.

This man's lectures put me to sleep nearly every class. The material had the potential to be interesting but it was taught in an incoherent and unorganized way that made it difficult to follow and engage with. Class averages on tests were abysmal. Would avoid if at all possible.

Professor Vision is the worst professor at UNC. He does not care about his students and does not teach the material needed. The material should be easy to understand, but he tests you on minor details that he mentions in one of his many stuttering tangents. He never gets to the point, and if he does, you won't notice. Hate this professor!!!

Vision is the worst professor at UNC! Many of my BIO peers have changed their major after taking a class with him. The material should not be difficult, but he tests you on minor details he barely mentions, often in one of his many nonsense tangents. He is very monotoned, boring, and does not care about his students. He will ruin your GPA.

He was not a good lecturer nor were his tests fair. Tests were out of so few questions/points that getting a question wrong was almost a whole point off of your final grade. The questions were also very different from the practice ones and incredibly specific. His lectures were uninspiring, un-motivating, and the class was incredibly tedious.

Dr. Vision tried to teach and the man had some good things to say about the topic, except you really couldn't pay attention. With that being said, if you do take a class with him, do the reading and guided reading questions and rewatch lectures. The material in itself is pretty straightforward and manageable if you put in the work.

This class and professor was single handily one of my worst experiences at UNC. No matter what extenuating circumstances you may have, they do not care, you are just a number to them and even if everyone does bad in the class, they do not care. Worst experience ever.

NEVER have I been so disappointed by such an uninspiring professor before! Dr. Vision was far too soft-spoken (even when asked to speak up!), and he spoke way too quickly--a very unfortunate combination. The tests were NOT accurate to the material taught (e.g. he had to drop NINE POINTS from a 27 POINT TEST). Avoid him AT ALL COSTS if you can!!!

Look. Everyone rags on Dr. Vision, and I kind of get it. His lectures are rambly, quick, and sometimes lack relevance to the tests. They're not disasterous, though. The tests themselves were kinda tricky, but if you take notes on the SimUtext and do the evol. textbook reading you will get by. Also - LOOK AT THE PEER INSTRUCTOR SLIDES!

Do not take this class (BIOL271)! Second day he was using full botanical jargon we never defined, nothing is broad he expects you to remember tiny details without ever fully explaining anything. Does not care about your understanding and never answers a question directly. There will be pop quizzes, no practice exams, and attendance is mandatory.

There was a lot of material covered in BIOL 271, but Dr. Vision created helpful guided reading questions and was clear about what material we would be tested on. Each exam had extra credit opportunities and Dr. Vision did his best to keep our class engaged throughout the semester with activities and a field trip to the NC botanical gardens.

The ratings on here were very misleading. If you do the quizzes, at least read the material from each unit and go to class, YOU WILL PASS. He was more than willing to accommodate students with extenuating circumstances, curves grades, and cracked jokes in class. He is a really kind and likable prof. I do reccomend for 271!!

I was unsure about this class based on the reviews, but Dr. Vision was a fair and kind professor. We covered a lot in class, but he also mixed in plenty of activities related to the material we were learning. If you go to class and do the readings you will do fine
