He is a really funny professor and he is always willing to explain things.

this class sucks
nice guy but is out to fail people
must go to class, hard tests, decent guy, quizes everyday for extra credit
Easy-going guy, extra credit makes up for poorly worded test Q's.
the guy tries to be funny and be your buddy but then you fail the tests, its true
this is hard b/c hes a nice guy and makes class fun but the tests are hard o yea and dont miss class
Very helpful, if you ask for help. Class is chalenging, but he is fair. Nice guy also.

Great teacher. Really cares about the students. Makes learning fun. Extra credit is super easy to get. Just do all your homework and study your vocab- you'll do great!
Aight proffessor. Sort of hard.
really nice guy. lots of chances for extra credit on your tests and that helps you out ALOT!
He's a lot of fun, a lot of interaction
I learned a lot from him, helpful if you ask him for help. Tests are hard, you DON'T want to miss class as your grade will go down if you do.

really nice and very willing to help
fun class but when test time comes around you will hate it, you have to really know the material to do well
Tom is a great guyi would highly recomend his class to all students especially business majors.
Tom's a good guy. Likes his beer, likes his students, good personality, lots of extra credit...yeah, I'd recommend'm.
He keeps the class moving, thinking, and learning. Nice guy, knows everything he's teaching inside and out. Very willing to answer questions. Class flies by.
Always goes out of his way to make sure you get a good grade
very good teacher helpful makes the class fun when economics really isnt that fun...
Awesome professor. Teaches what you need to know, nothing more nothing less. Extremely intelligent, helpful, and effective. Highly recommended.
I had him for a 3 hour class...he kept us most of the class, but his enthusiasm made it fly by. He didn't use the book at all, followed his syllabus exactly!Tests are ambigious, I highly recommend him, but prepare properly for his class...that A is hard!
nice guy and he makes class interesting and follows the syllabus, but the tests are extremely hard especially if economics isn't your thing, you have to go to every class and the tests are more analyzing than learning specific material, lots of work
very attractive
wow, what a professor! Very kewl, very sexy, very helpful, he's awesome. I had this professor in 1999 when they didn't have this web site. I'm glad i can now put my two cents in. His smile will make you melt : )
very hard, you can't miss class, but he makes you learn
What a Professor should be. I though he was pretty goofy looking though.
This is a hard class, but if you actually go to class and study hard, you can do very well. Remember your extra points with vocab too! that can come in very handy in the end and do your excel exercises...it's an easy 100% for part of your grade!
get a life man, stop making my life miserable with your hard tests.
yea come on buddy, stop making all these group assignments, i dont like people!
Tom is a great professor, but don't think he's easy just because he's laid back. He tries hard to make sure that everyone is on the same page, but if you don't put the time into this class, you won't do well. Highly recommended.
Definitly not the easiest teacher, but very helpful, and easy to work with. If you are willing to learn, he is willing to help. Great professor and lots of fun.

nice guy, acts like your buddy then when test day comes you will hate him

Great Teacher. Took another class just because he taught it. Classes are tough, but you learn quite a bit.
he's a great teacher....I learn alot in class and u can get alot of extra points by being there...I recommend him
real nice guy you almost want to go grab a beer after class because hes so chill
awful
b4 this class i could have cared less bout econ. Prof. Andrews makes you very interested in the subject & really makes u understand. theres alot of work but it helps you understand 4 when the test comes and theres so much extra credit points.DEF. would take him again
Andrews is one of the best professors at WCU. He is very laid back but he is not easy. There is alot of work involved and his tests are extremely hard but you'll learn alot and if you do all your work and study, you'll get a B+. I'd def reccomend him for Micro. Lots of xtra credit points every class
Cool teacher, will definately learn something, challenging, overall one of WCU's best teachers
tom's a true hunky teacher. He is NOT awful so that comment below should be deleted. Tom is quite a helpful teacher, despite the fact that no matter how much help i get, some things just don't sink in well. Well, I'm sure some things do, but just not economics. Tom, you're a hottie!!
This guy has got an ego problem, hey tom why not lay off the coffee and RELAX
I'll be a jr and this is the best class I've taken. His tests are hard but gives you extra credit on every test which you can go from a 50 to an 80. Its alot of work but the points help you in the end. Hes probably the coolest teacher at WCU and is pretty hot at the same time.
Take Dr. Tolin instead! Andrews runs it like a gym class, in that participation matters more than what you know. His class was easy but I still failed. People getting A's are the ones that don't miss a class and have every homework in, unfortunately 2 categories I don't fit into.. He singles out people for the amusement of the class, right Juan?
Dr. Tom Andrews is not only a good teacher, but he's really down to earth and he's funny, too. You have to go to his class to do good, but I actually didn't mind going because he made it interesting. He really knows his stuff. And it didn't hurt that he's pretty hot too! If you have a chance, take him!
Basically a good teacher. Have to pin him down to make sure he explains things fully - not everyone gets "it" first time around (or 2nd or 3rd). He gets a bit cranky if you keep asking but do anyway (a little ego here). He will help you if you make the effort. Make sure you participate; make him clarify things and show up & you will do fine.

terrible teacher, relies too much on extra credit
No Comments
hes alright. something about him is scary.
He is a really great professor. He makes the class really fun, and even though the material might be difficult he gives you plenty of chances to get extra points. Make sure you know the assigned definitions for every class and you will do great. I enjoyed taking that class very much.
Basically the man. His classes are fun and it is hard not to pay attention to what he is saying. There is an average amount of work but you have all semester to do it. And he gives out a ton of extra credit; good thing because the tests are hard. Take him though. One of the best I have had.
hes the man, he could probably be a stand up comedian. teaches class very well and you dont even have alot of work to do, and u have all semester to turn it in basically, except the first one, extra credit all the time and hes just funny
Lots of extra credit. You will have great time in his class. There is a fair amount of work but isn't that what you are in school for? He will make you understand graphs which is important in his field. Overall...great guy.
Prof. Andrews rocks. He may seem like a prick, but his class is fun and energetic. I would def. recommend him again!
ANDREWS IS THE MAN FOR ECO 252.
Awesome guy! Economics isnt easy but he helps a lot. Just go to class, and get all the extra credit pionts, there is alot. He is a cool guy, out of all my classes this one goes by the fastest
Hard class, but with the extra credit is an easy grade.
great teacher...fun guy...tests can be kind of difficult but so much extra credit is available that itd be hard to do bad in his class
he's really laid back...is a huge help. sort of hard material, but gives TONS of extra credit. go to class everytime, youll do well on the tests.
He is a really good professor. Dr. Andrew's basically hands out the bonus points and it's impossible to get a bad grade in his class. He starts every class with a one word vocab quiz that counts as bonus towards your test. I actually still remember economics stuff from his class a year later. Highly Recommended!
No need to speak about him. Tom rocks!! Too bad I can not take any other classes with him....
What a struggle this was to earn my A-. It is basically a class based on vocab. Cuz everybody gets 40-50 percents on the test cuz he really doesnt teach just rambles on diagrams..But anyway with the usual 30 - 40 bonus points u get u end up with a good grade so really get ur bonus points and 1/5 on test and ur passing :) dont miss class either
Great guy, jokes around alot, teaches you well.....test are some what difficult so much extra credit is givin that it is an easy a or b
Great teacher... he makes you want to come to class becuase he can joke about the topic. T-mac is the man. (he looks like tom macarthy from the phillies)
dudes a boss
explains material in the most difficult way possible, draws at least 20 diagrams a class but overall an ok teacher gives crazy extra credit points which will definitely come in handy for the test
Tom Andrews is so hot!! He is big on attendance, but that's okay he's nice to look at!!! Very tough class, but he will help you if you need it. Love ya Tom!!!!!
Dr Andrews is awesome! I took his class in the summer, and while it was a bit challenging, he made stat pretty fun. He is cool and there is something very attractive about him! Tests are a bit difficult, but study and do the projects and you should be fine. Great class - no regrets.

I'm very glad I took Prof. Andrews. He's SOO FUNNY !! The best part about him is that he uses everyday examples to better explain concepts. Daily vocab quizzes - these quizzez add extra credit to exams). Very difficult exams. Only use textbook for vocab words and minor concepts. Get him a cup of coffee and see what he does.
Dr. Andrews is awesome and actually made economics fun. I was surprised by how understandable he made the class. He gives a lot of extra credit which really helps. Overall, great professor i would take him again
i would say that he is a great teacher. If you dont understand something go to his office hours because he really explains things well. The only thing i regret is not doing my best on the extra credit vocab quizzes early in the year. I could have got an A if it wasnt for that.
dont buy the bk ur not gonna use it, but he's a great teacher, go to class take notes ask questions if u dont get sumthin, extra credit quizes allowed me to get my A so study ur vocab, material may be confusing but he explains it well...Prof Andrews made this class one of my favorites
Take him. He gives you vocab words and if you remember them, you get extra credit on tests. I didn't even have to take the final.
Andrews is great! He makes everything so easy to understand! His examples are awesome! He gives TONS of extra credit for the tests and the final. I'd take him again if I had the chance. TAKE HIM!
He keeps class fun so it is not boring. All you have to do is go to class and take good notes because the tests are right from the notes. Highly recommend this professor.
Dr. Andrews knows his stuff. He doesn't always convey his knowledge in the best way, but he certainly will help you understand something if you do not get it. There are three tests and no homework. Tests are difficult, but if you attend class, he will give you extra credit at the end of the semester. Overall he is a pretty good professor.
Andrews was the best teacher I've ever had. I had no interest in Econ at all until I took his class.
Dr. Andrews is a great teacher who uses examples in his teaching that are easy to undersand and relatable to most college kid's lives. class is fun and easy, and there is sooo much extra credit given out so even if your about to get a D, youll probably still get a B-
He is a funny guy so he made class enjoyable but his exams are hard. Vocab test everyday for extra % points to add to final grade so study them they helped me get an A! Exams are 15-17 questions with a 20 point "essay" and quanitative problem. No Homework and alot of extra credit
He's awful. Only used the book to define vocab. Gives a lot of extra credit, but is a horrible teacher. Makes you feel like an idiot. Assumes you understand. Bad.
test were very hard. does not explain well. make sure u know stat at a professor level before taking this class.
Horrible teacher, Does not explain much and assumes you should know everything. Does everything on Excel but expects you to know the in's and out of Excel like Formulas .Gave a regression project where he tried to teach it in 30 minutes,Tests are super hard but he grades easy He dosen't care about the answers but how you attempted to get the answer
This is one of the hardest professors i have ever had. He does a terrible job explaining the material and does not use the book at all. He puts material on the test that he doesn't ever go over. I had a 4.0 last semester. Now because of his class my GPA dropped a lot. STAY AWAY.
If you like a structured teaching style and what an A, this class is not for you. His tests are impossible. His midterm was hard to finish in 50 mins. and he did not curve the test. I studied 8 hours for it and got a C. He can be quite sarcastic. The daily clicker questions do not count for extra credit anymore, they are part of your grade.
He as a person is very funny and makes the class enjoyable. However, the subject is hard and his tests are hard as well.
He is an alright teacher. It's possible to flunk tests and still get an A in the class because he calculates extra points in the system. Class is fun.
For some reason people dislike his class, which is ironic because it is really fun, he makes jokes, swears and interacts with the students all the time, test are pretty challenging but it doesn't matter because there is a lot of extra credit opportunities to do well on...seriously take his class
Dr. Andrews is the nicest guy ever. He's really funny and makes the boring subject enjoyable. If you actually study and attend lecture you'll do fine. I'm a Pre-Med major so I took this class knowing absolutely nothing on the subject beforehand and I got an A. I definitely recommend him. He's the best!
Not helpful at all and very rude to those who do not pick up the material quickly. Don't even bother.
He is very rude and unprofessional. He is not helpful just thinks he is being funny and "one of the guys" by joking around. STAY AWAY
Guys will like Andrews' humor and personality as a teacher. However, he is a hard grader when it comes time for the essay portion of the tests. NEVER MISS CLASS because 15% of your grade is based on attendance and there are clicker questions you answer everyday that he counts as "quizzes." All around, good guy, but average teacher.
Horrible teacher. His teaching style is confusing because he is all over the place. He doesn't give study guides and tests are really hard.Only two tests for the semester. He makes students watch youtube videos online and says "OK, show me that!" on a graph. He's funny, but sense of humor only goes so far...
Class is always just a bunch of examples of drawing economic analyses. He would show a Youtube video and then tell us to draw it. He rarely actually teaches anything. You just have to judge off of all of the examples. Multiple choice is impossible on mt/final. Somehow got an A- though and he's really nice and funny. Textbook probably helps!
If you can "show him that", you'll pass the class. Clicker questions in the beginning of class are your attendance, book doesn't help hardly at all and neither will he. He curves basically everything, so you should still pass the class. One word: YouTube
Uses poor examples that are not straight forward. He "teaches" by playing youtube video then asks you to analyze and graph it. Had to teach myself most of the material. He's a cool guy though. Overall, not bad but not recommended.
Prof. Andrews is a really cool guy. He makes class entertaining but still gets the point across. The tests were kind of hard, but they were curved so it was all good. Uses the clickers a lot which is really cool. I hate economics but I didn't hate his class.
Prof Andrews is hilarious and makes class really fun. You cover a lot of material, but he does a lot of in class examples to make sure you understand. The tests are hard, but he curved them. I hate economics and would have dropped it if it weren't for him being an awesome professor
Professor Andrews seems like a nice guy but was not very understanding & helpful. If you struggle at all with excel & statistics do not take the course with Professor Andrews.
Tom Andrews is an awesome guy. Took him for micro and couldn't stop laughing the whole semester. The guy is hilarious and makes the class much more enjoyable. The tests are almost impossible but always curves them. Just make sure to do well on the quizzes, pay attention, and you should be fine. Deff recommend!!
His lectures are confusing. He does not explain very well and expects you to understand what is not being said.
Fun teacher. Doesn't take the class very seriously which can be good and bad. You wont do much graded work in the class he teaches using different games.
good guy
Tests were pretty hard but plenty of opportunities to bring your grade up are presented. Go to every class, you get a bonus at the end of the semester. Do the reading, written homeworks and connect homeworks and you'll pass
Tom is an awesome guy in class. He gives very funny lectures but if you struggle with the info these lectures might not be any help to you. He is really cool about helping you out in office hours. If you work for it you'll get a good grade. Just make sure you come to class and review the powerpoints. The book was really useless.
Very nice guy. Presents Econ in a unique way, i hear mixed things. If you are on his wave length, it will be a better understanding of econ concepts that a simple cut and dry lecture. If not then he's likely to confuse you, but ask, and he will. Lots of actual work, and a lot of applying concept to real life scenarios and not just memorizing terms.
I had a lot of fun in this class and thought Tom was just very easy to get along with. He remembers your name right off the bat which is a huge deal to me. Watch the videos before each section. It'll help a lot. Lots of opportunities to get a good grade, too, so be prepared to work. Definitely get to know Tom if you take a class with him, too.
Love Tom! He puts a unique spin on an otherwise boring subject. Hard to take quality notes, so pay attention to examples in class. Didnt use the text except for online homework. Get ready to use excel though! He lets you use excel calculators made in class on tests, so basically open notes. Speak up in his class, he likes the talkative ones.
Tom tries to make funny jokes, but no matter what he says the class is always silent. He isn't the best micro teacher I've had and he does not go through in detail specific things in the course. You don't need a textbook. I took AP Microeconomics in high school and used those notes more than the ones in his class. 2 attempts quizzes online.
This was my favorite elective. Most of the classes were playing games and simulations. No textbook, tests or homework. Just have to show up to class and participate.
Dr. Andrews is my favorite professor. He gives great examples, explains concepts well, and is available basically any time. If you need to take an Econ class, take Tom. He'll work with you and help you as much as you need it. And he makes an effort to learn your name and remember it! You don't see that too much.
Dr. Andrews is by far one of the best professors I've had at WCU! He made a boring class somewhat enjoyable and easy to get through. You need to complete all the assignments; but he offers lots of areas to gain extra points, so its easy to get an A. I even took Dr. Andrews again for ECO252. Overall, he's an awesome professor, take him!!
one of my fav econ profs! In Eco 400 the grades are based on in class assignments, so come to class and do the work and assignments. The final paper is worth a lot of your grade, be sure to ask for help!
Andrews has been by far my favorite teacher. He is funny and his teaching style is effective and interesting. He gives so much extra credit but you have to work to do it. Don't let this deceive you on the difficulty of this course. His tests are extensive and quite hard. If i didn't do the extra credit I would not have had a great grade.
He was such a good teacher and his lectures were so interesting! I would most definitely take another one of his classes!
prof Andrews is pretty great and it's not hard to get a decent grade in his class as long as you put in the time because he offers a ton of extra credit.
Lectures are interesting. Watching his videos prior to class helps to understand his lectures and examples. Theres a ton of online quizzes with 5 attempts due at the end of the semester. Exams are hard. He offers A LOT of extra credit to boost your grade but you have to work hard for it through a game he designed.
really good at explaining the topics and the lectures are actually interesting. 10/10 would take him again
Lectures don't really teach anything, has you watch videos before coming to class on the topic. Never felt prepared or like I was learning anything. Have to do five papers, plus online simulations (as a group,) and in class exercises
I LOVE TOM ANDREWS! funny guy want to learn how to lasso? take him! (take him and you'll understand). tests are hard but gives a lot of extra credit. I didn't do well on the tests but still passed with an A. I can't express to you how great of a guy he if and how amazing this class is. I hated economics but he made me love micro economics.
Do not take for ECO336. Professor Andrews does not explain any material for the class and does not even discuss competition and regulation in any form even though that is what the course is about. Has students complete simulations which have nothing to do with the subject. Professor does not even appear to care about the class.
By far my favorite professor so far. Explains topics well and will always try to help you understand if you don't the first time. Always had me laughing in lectures and I definitely learned a lot.
Professor Andrews makes class interesting, even though the material is somewhat difficult. He assigns a lot of work, but if you take notes, you will be fine. If gives out a lot of participation points, which help to boost your grade.
Dr Andrews is cool. He designs the course in which participation is a big chunk of your grade. If you get just a B on the exams you can get an A in the course just off doing homework and participation.
Tom Andrews is the man. Hilarious, informative, and very well respected. He provides clear criteria for assignments and gives great feedback! He's also really funny in class! Hands down my favorite professor at WCU so far.
The worst professor ever never gets back to you and assigns an absurd amount of assignments for his online classes that are intro classes.
Great professor. He really cared about how we were doing with the material and stayed after class to answer any questions. Since this was online, attendance was optional as the classes were posted online. Tests are just like the homework, and the excel demand project is fun. Overall enjoyed this class, even though it was online.
prof andrews was the best professor i have had at wcu so far. learning is fun lectures aren't boring plus he gives you a lot of chances to improve your grade, great dude overall
This class was very easy! Andrews makes it very easy to get an A and genuinely wants to support his students. As long as you do the necessary homework, it should be an easy A.
If I could give him a zero I would. Lectures are confusing and not helpful, he does not answer questions that students ask, and his grading system is awful. All you do in class is watch videos that have practically no correlation to the course material.
Gives an absurd amount of homework on top of in class assignments. If you actually want him to help you, good luck. He just walks around the room, makes fun of the graph on your screen, then just walks away. If you actually want to learn microeconomics I would not recommend taking him.
I was shocked to see that Dr. Andrews has a 4/5 on this. You do not learn anything about mirco, so if you actually want to learn about it definitely take another professor. I am only 3 weeks in, but its so bad I'm writing this now. He is unclear about due dates and is very unorganized. He will belittle you if you ask him a question.
Surprised to see all these negative reviews. Do the work, which is easy, and you'll get an A. Very engaging and likable.
Not sure why he has such bad ratings on here. Very funny during lectures and gave tons of opportunity for extra credit. hw was graded out of 100 but if you did every hw you could get an 150 which was an extra 50 points. that could save you from getting a bad midterm or final grade.
Great professor and fun class!
Awful!
Such a fun professor! If you are not in class you will not pass. There is a lot of homework assigned to take away from finals and make things easier if you participate. I dont feel like I learned a lot from this class but I did enjoy being present since he made his lectures fun and easy to understand. Super nice and understanding guy!
Really interesting course work, he created an almost video game economics simulator that was the majority of our work. Attendance quizzes everyday, and lots of work to boost your grade from exams. The exams were tough, most people I know at best got an 80 on them. Super funny and interacts with the class.
Mr. Andrews was all over the place, he provided the means to pass his class online but provided no help when he was in class. Whenever we would have to complete a chart at home he would never give us a heads up which caused many to get zeros on homework's and quizzes. would never take him again.
Professor Andrews makes lectures fun, but the workload is heavy. Engage with the material, use unstuck study AI for extra practice, and you'll likely do well. Attendance is mandatory, but the class is manageable if you put in the effort.
While it's almost impossible to fail the class, it IS impossible to learn anything from Dr. Andrews. Luckily, he gives a lot of simple assignments and quizzes to boost your grade over 100 in preparation for the midterm/final. He's very funny and interactive but doesn't do a great job at teaching, so most of us passed without understanding econ.
Although it is easy to get an A in this class, it is almost certain that you will learn nothing about Microeconomics from Dr. Andrews. Most of class time was spent drawing the same graphs over and over without every understanding what it meant, and talking about random topics and stories from Dr. Andrews. Most TAs were just as lost as students.
Though this class is very easy to get an A in (if you come to class and do all the assignments), it was hard to follow, unclear at times, and I feel I didn't learn anything about Econ past the surface level. More so I feel like I didn't come out of the class knowing what Econ actually IS, only how to pass Dr. Andrews' version of Econ. Chill guy tho
You won't learn a thing and you will most likely leave the class confused every time.
I appreciate that Prof. Andrews tries to make his lectures fun and add humor, but in the end it falls flat. There's TONS of assignments, but 90% of them are very short/easy to complete. But if you need to actually learn micro-econ... don't take this class. You learn absolutely nothing and will be confused 24/7. Youtube got me through this course.
I liked Tom Andrews as a person. I thought he was super funny and knew how to keep people entertained when feeling down. However he wasn't my favorite professor because he does make it almost impossible to fail the class which is nice but didn't do the best job at explaining assignments.
I came out of this class understanding and knowing little to nothing about microeconomics. Professor Andrews is a nice guy, but not a good teacher. If I felt I did well in an assignment I ended up doing poorly, and when I was completely confused, I would get good scores. I never knew what we were talking about and only learned how to copy off him
Dr. Andrews is a very nice guy, but he doesn't do a great job of explaining content. There are a lot of opportunities to get practice points, and he is a decently lenient grader. If you are willing to spend a lot of time teaching the material to yourself, you will do well in the class.
Didn't learn anything but he's okay.
Such a nice guy, but such a horrible professor. Doesnt teach in any real meaningful way, I left class each day more confused than when i walked in. Lots of in class assignments and short homeworks. Grading is weird, like i said such a nice guy but dont take this class.
He confused me a lot during the semester. He has weird rules about things and isn't afraid to call people out in class. His grading system is really weird and it's hard to know what your final grade is. He is nice and has an interesting point of view on things, but he's very all over the place and hard to follow.
Curses a lot and doesn't explain the material very well. He assigns a lot of work, which most are easy and quick. FIND A FRIEND IN THIS CLASS. Majority of classes you need to interact with someone. I always left confused and dreaded going. He is a nice guy, but not a good professor. I didn't learn one thing and crashed out multiple times.
