A very kind and inspiring instructor.

He's such a cool and understanding guy. His Death and Dying course teaches you about letting go, not just when people die, but in all relationships that come to an end in some way or another. Very easy and interesting.

The topic is very interesting and the way he teaches is very understandable. Listen to his lectures and take notes. If you want to get the A, you should go to the Learning Resource Center and get the old tests because they help out in passing those exams.

Mr. Bruce is the authority on Death and Dying. Take Heroic Journey first, then Death and Dying and Love and Intamacy together. I reccomend Heroic Journey. Delve into yourself mythologically. Master your past. Lookout Joseph Campbell, Bruce may surpass you

death and dying is a great class. take it if you can.

I would recommend a Mr. Bruce class to anyone and everyone, especially Psyc 9. He is an excellent prof in his lecture delivery and just has this highly contagious, enlightening outlook on life.

Tom is a guy who will come in in the morning and look quite serious and has a booming voice but he can make you laugh and he has a heart so the subjects he teaches makes you want to get involved and take action. He was my favorite teacher for spring 04

He is an awesome teacher. He has old tests in the library that you can look at. As long as you study them, you will definitely get an A in his class. Make sure to take good notes and do not sleep in class. He may sound boring because of his voice, but he can make you laugh anytime.

The most awesom teacher I ever had.The class is more interesting than it sounds.He tells lots of corny jokes and seems to have something against Lodi, but consider yourself lucky if you can get in his class.Just don't fall asleep in class.Take lots of notes, all lecture material is on his exams.

He's such a great professor. You'll learn a lot in his class. He counts attendance, but he's not that strict about it. There are copies of his old test in the library, which will be very useful because his tests are just about the same as the old ones.

Fabulous, inspiring course & prof. Fascinating lectures, films, and discussions. Given prep. for midterm, final was a take-home. Tests based on lectures primarily. Easy to get an A, though requires one to complete a number of (mostly simple) projects. (If enough project points, may skip final.)

I love this teacher. He is very informative, very funny, very professional, and most importantly he is very easy. It is soo easy to get an A in his class, mostly based on notes so be in attendance. It is kind of a gloomy subect to study, but he makes the class so worth it.

He is a wonderful teacher. His tests are not hard, he lets you know they are all on file in the library so all you have to do is get them. They are almost exactly the same as the ones he gives. The class is very interesting. Also there is no paper due in his class.

High-larious stories and easy projects. There is no way you can fail this class if you just show up and do your work; it's just not possible. I would recommend him to anyone and I look forward to his Death and Dying class in the fall.

This man changed my life. Psych. of Dying and Death (because we are all dying) and Sociology (because human nature is interesting) have been placed in my required life classes. Tom is very approachable and help you get a good grade, but he is not an easy A teacher. You actually learn from him! He opened so many doors for me.

Awesome storyteller! His voice might sound a bit boring or dry, but VERY funny and interesting lectures. Tests are multiple choice, and he encourages students to get ahold of old copies and attend tutoring sessions. Really makes you think about dying and how we perceive it. I highly recommend his class!

the best teacher i have had so far, ive been in school for two years at SCC. hes a very easygoing good teacher. He doesnt push you to do anything, hes not a stressfull person either. Very nice guy, and great story teller, keeps you interested in the class aswell.

Tom is a GREAT professor. He really knows his stuff. He is current on todays events as well is as very knowledgable on past events. He is always available to work with you on anything that you are having trouble understanding. He has some wonderful stories and he is very, very fair in his scoring of test, and extra credit.

I am taking Tom for Love and Intimacy and he is really cool. He sometimes goes on tangents but in an amusing way, not in an annoying way. I have learned a LOT. He makes you think about things from another perspective. "In this moment, you are perfect! You can only be in this moment!" I want to take all of his classes.

He is my guru. I sit in his classes for fun. He is that informative and entertaining.

He was a great teacher. He made things so clear out of the book, probably because he wrote the book he used. I loved the aura thing, tests were easy, and all of the study guides were in the back of the book so you could work ahead of time. He was so great and entertainging, he made me want to get into the same field of death and dying

I have taken his death and dying class, love and intimacy, and am now in the heroic journey. He is a really awesome teacher with some great stories. He will broaden your perspective and help you discover a lot about yourself. His classes are usually pretty funny and everyone has a great time.

I LOVE this teacher so much!! What an incredibly wise, interesting, entertaining and hip (in a 60's kinda way!) guy he is! And as a bonus, this class is unbelievably EASY if you just TRY --- he GIVES you the old exams and at least half the questions are identical to those on the new exams, and there's NO homework except for extra credit. Tom ROCKS!

He's pretty much the west coast's expert on death and dying, which is why he was asked to write the book for the subject. Sometimes the class seems more like a comedy club than an actual class (reminds me of George Carlin). Unless you don't like your grade being almost completely based on tests (aside from xtra cred), you might not be comfortable.

Excellent lecturer. Cannot stress this enough. Very unique class taught by a very unique person. Grade based entirely on exams. Some EC if you want it. Highly recommended.

He's a fantastic teacher! His stories and lecture made me want to come to class. There is no homework just extra credit. The test's are based on the old test's that are in the library. Just study them and it's a breeze. He is such an amazing teacher I will be taking his Love and Intimacy and Heroic Journey Classes.

I took all of his classes a few years back. He is STILL my favorite human and teacher of all time! He is simply one of the best people you could ever possibly hope to spend some time with. If you miss out on Tom Bruce, you have missed out on the very best this life has to offer!

Incredible class!! Even if you don't like psyc this is interesting..you won't want to miss class just because of all the stories!! No homework whatsoever and there are 3 tests (including the final) and he leaves the tests from previous semesters at the reserve desk for you to study! I highly recommend this class!

one of the best lecturers I've ever had!! his lectures are very interesting and he brings in alot of fun field studies and cases to complement the material. mine was a 2 hour summer session but there wasn't a minute that i found the lectures boring. Tests are all MC and 80%+ from past exams. An A is guaranteed if you pay attention + do past exams.

I LOVE TOM BRUCE. I took Soc300 during summer '07 on a whim. I was completely enthralled. I sat at the very front of the class but still leaned in to soak up all his stories. He's bloody awesome! Tells all these neat stories n anecdotes that seem random, but r actually the key to helping u rememeber important names during ur exam.A bloody ENIGMA!!

Awesome class,awesome teacher.3-4 tests,75% of tests are based off old tests which you can get in the library,tutor has answer keys.He wrote the book so it's cheap,and designed as a text/lecture note book,so attend class cause not everything on the test is in the book,you fill some stuff in as you go.Gives ton of extra cedit opp's.Easy A if you try

This man really cares about what he teaches. He is honest, caring, very funny, and entertaining. I really took alot from his class and therefore "I" believe that attendance is mandatory. He is an awesome and compassionate professor.

Prof Bruce is the BEST! Fantastic lectures! His depth of knowledge on the subject is fantastic. He wrote the book (probably one of the cheapest you'll ever buy in college). Attend class (you'll look forward to it), study for tests (old tests are available and are similar), and you'll do well. You will LOVE this class!!!

Loved Him. Exams based on lectures and old exams. He tells you where to get the old exams and uses a good 80% of the exact questions. It's important to attend every class because the book is not very helpful (he wrote the inexpensive book as a outline not a thorough text) Easy A if you pay attention and take notes.

Awesome instructor, easy A I took 2 classes the easiest ones ever. I loved them, but you have to go to class, the exams are dictated by the lectures. Little to NO HOMEWORK.

Good teacher. Very easy to understand. takes role, but going to all teh class sesssions isnt needed b/c u can easily get the gist of it. especially if u go the study sessions which are actually fun. and u can learn a lot off of them, and get xtra credit if u do attend the study sessoins up to 10% xtra credit.

By far, Tom Bruce is SCC's most precious asset. He's a wonderful and very down-to-earth person, and an excellent teacher! Great sense of humor. I recommend taking one of his classes even if you don't need the credits. I've never seen a teacher make such an impact on his students as Tom does. Tom Bruce is a modern-age prophet!

Tom is the funniest teacher I've ever had in college. Sometimes it's like he's doing stand up instead of a lecture. He's got a lot of stories to tell and every single one is interesting. No homework except on the first week of class and about 4 tests throughout the course of the class. If you were ever curious about death, I recommend this class.

This guys is all about the students. He curves test, gives 4 million different ways of Extra Cred (attendance, tutoring sessions, assignments)and is always willing to help. He's a comedian, and always has funny stories to go along with topics, it's almost as if he's doing lecture and stand-up at the same time. Bottom line. Tom's the stuff!

I agree with a lot of the positive comments about him on this page. He made class interesting and you would want to attend not because you have to, but because you really want to learn about the subject. Only critique is, he really wasn't as easy as many people described him here. You really have to pay attention to what he says and take good notes

I am an absolute card carrying member of the Tom Bruce fan club. You do have to be there, take notes and participate in classes but he actually wants his students to succeed and is willing to help whenever necessary. It's not that it's an "easy A", it's that he makes every minute of class interesting so you want to pay attention!

By far the best professor i have had at SCC. He is truly passionate about Psychology and gets the class involved. Do not talk in class, take good notes and write everything down. Also, attending class is very important as well as the tutoring he offers. Don't forget to get the tests PAM at resource center! :) and you will be good to go!

Class was ridiculously easy. Tom is pretty funny, but his lectures were a bit too unorganized for me. His mind seemed scattered from time to time, sometimes hard to follow. Tests were easy, however, answers are practically given to you if you go to tutoring.

HE IS SOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY! Take the tutoring he has, he doesn't teach it, but he has it for help and it really helps. he also has extra credits that will raise your whole grade if you do some that = out 4pts! :) He rambles on sometimes, but you gotta love it. I've took all the classes he's taught, and was also his TA a few years back as an undergrad. He's the best professor! Take advantage of his vast knowledge, stories, etc. while he's still at SCC. I took all of the courses that he taught over the past few years (Peace & Conflict, Death & Dying, Heroic Journey, and Intro to Sociology). Over the years, he has become a trusted mentor and friend. I hope you took advantage of learning from this man's light, because he has now retired and will no longer be teaching... A serious loss for SCC.

Tom Bruce, will you marry me? Last semester was his last class he taught and it was the most wonderful experience. You will find yourself excited to go to his class every time. You have to pay close attention during his lectures or the tests will be hard, but you get so submersed in what he is saying that it isn't an issue. Sigh...amazing.
