Like many others have said, at least for Thermo, exams are 10 MC, but you get one "instant winner". I really enjoyed his style of teaching, every other day was "our day" where we could ask questions about the HW and he would walk us through it. I loved how passionate he was about teaching the material, if I could take it again with him, I would.

Pretty much your entire grade will come from 3 multiple-choice tests and the final, however, there is also a lot of HW. It isn't worth much of the grade but it is great practice as Thermo really just requires you to practice over and over (don't use Chegg). Other than that, he scales the grade at the end and is a pretty funny guy.

Must read and learn from textbook on your own to succeed. 10 MCQs per exam, no partial credit (although one is an "instant winner") but access to ALL your notes and textbook. Randomized attendance quizzes, so show up to class! I enjoyed his your day/my day schedule and think he is one of the most passionate and entertaining lecturers on campus.

All thing said and done it wasn't too bad. His tests aren't hard but the entire class is 46MC questions plus a bit of homework and attendance points; this means that each test question is about 2% of your end grade. If you do bad on test 1/2, it will be very hard to dig yourself out of that hole. Thermo is hard but he is a decent choice; good luck.

Dr. Burch reminded my of a grandpa in that caring aspect. His class is not easy, but if you show that you want to make it in his class, he will do his best to help you succeed. I may have dropped his class the first go around, but intend on retaking the same class with him because he was awesome. Tests are hard, but focus on the concepts of thermo.

He's a really funny and caring guy, just not the best professor. He teaches the material well, but mainly the conceptual things. You've got to figure out the math on your own through the homework.
