Originally took this class to fill multi-cultural req'ment. Was the only guy, except Tom, in the class. He made class worthwhile. I learned a lot from Tom and felt if I could be a teacher (or father) half as talented as he is, I'll be happy for life. Reviews what topics will be on each of four essay tests, then it's up to you to study the details.

Easy going teacher. Very passionate about his work. Made a complicated subject simple and straightforward.

Fun class. Great discussions. Tom's sense of humor and wealth of knowlege make this an "easy" class.

Knows how to connect with students. Makes class enjoyable. Exams are comprehensible. Everything is gone over in class . I would definitely take him for all my child development courses. He let's us out early when the lesson is done. It is a good idea to go to class it goes by quickly as well.

Great class! Very helpful with tests and papers. 3 papers that were easy to do. Grades very easy, as long as you show some effort. Didn't need textbook till 2nd test for one question. Tests are essay format. Lecture is more of a conversation, easy to follow. Knows what he is doing and loves doing it. Take this class!!

He is a great teacher,very open to comments and class discussions.He loves when the whole class is involved. works at a great pace,his main goal is to not move on until everyone understands everything.there were only about three papers due, they were fun and easy.Three exams, but he tells you what is on them prior. Extremely helpful teacher. Guides you in every way. His teaching style is very interactive and you learn even if you are sitting in the classroom without any textbook. MUST TAKE TEACHER

He was awesome! Seriously the best professor I have ever had. He is so helpful and passionate about Child Development. He knows what he's talking about and is really interesting to listen to. I would recommend him in a heartbeat! I just wish he taught more classes! Also, he grades tests/reports easy, but an A is between 95 and 100% so it evens out.

Dr. Chiaromonte is the best professor I've had at Fullerton College hands down. He is not only entertaining oh my God I never miss any of his classes but is very helpful and highly intelligent and interesting. He absolutely loves children. I just wish he taught more CDES courses. He is also very HOT! Very attractive and easy on the eyes!!!

One of the best professors I've had! He makes everything really clear. He really loves what he does. His class is just super interesting! He is AWESOME!

He's funny and he knows his stuff SO WELL that my class didn't even require a textbook. Very participation relient. Speak up a few times in class and share your view, make yourself known to him and you should do well. Tests are short essay form, three questions each. He releases a study guide for each test. Super informational, super enjoyable.

Absolutely loved this professor. I highly recommend him. He's not only passionate about child development but he is very knowledgeable and entertaining. I just wish he was my prof for ALL my CDES classes. Added bonus, he's also very attractive! ;-)

I love Tom. He's funny, he's knowledgeable, and he's passionate about children. He didn't require a book for our class, and even if you missed a couple of lectures, it's easy to catch up. He uses a lot of visual images and encourages discussion. The assignments aren't always the most fun, and his tests are essay tests, but I actually learned.

Prof. is super funny, and has great experience because he runs the Lab school on campus! So willing to share personal stories and hear yours as well. Often asks for class opinion. The only negatives would be that the only thing you are graded on are the essay-like tests and the 3 reports, so if you suck at detailed writing, don't take this class.

Honestly I was stressed to go back to school but after taking this class I am extremly more motivated I honestly wished he taught more classes. Lets begin with NO TEXT BOOOK Lectures a wee bit Zzzz but its an open classroom where we can all talk and share our thoughts easy test gives a study guide that pretty much is your test

Professor Chiaromonte is really good. His lectures are kinda long, but there is no text and what he lectures on is exactly whats on your test. He lectures through power points and also provides them for you, so that you can use that AND the study guide for the tests. No textbook is required.

He is full of energy and memorable lectures. I wish he taught more classes! Participation and attendance is graded. He doesn't use a textbook, he teaches from powerpoints and they are used to study for your tests. Tests are not multiple choice, they are essay format (easy). You will also do 3 papers about family, community, and school.

He's a very good professor. He gets off topic very easily, but he makes the lectures very fun and loves to hear the students input. 3 essays and tests are always essay format. The tests are easy, he puts the essay prompts on the study guide.

Really fun class. 3 easy projects and tests were simple and from the notes. He is really fun and talks about his kids. He is really helpful overall.

Tom is an amazing professor. His lectures are informative and relatable so the information is easy to remember. There are 3 interview/papers and 3 essay tests. The papers are easy you will get an A if you follow the assignment. Gives study guides for the tests and the answers are from the ppt. He is an easy grader but his grade scale is skewed.

Professor Tom Chiaramonte made CDES120 more interesting by including his personal experiences with children whether it was at the lab school or his own kids. Extremely funny! This is the class that everyone in the world should take. Every lesson was so informative and so interesting you couldn't help but pay attention. He relates the material to real life and our own experiences. He has fun with the lectures and requires class participation. One of the most memorable and informational classes I'll ever have. Smart guy.

professor Chiaromonte is absolutely fabulous. He is kind, caring, generous, and passionate about his teachings. He uses all of his class time on lectures but an hour and 20 minute doesn't seem long. This my second time taking this class and more than half of the class were taking him again, which shows a lot about what kind of person he is. amazing

Honestly 10/10 professor. Definitely lecture heavy but theyre amazing lectures. Always interesting always a pleasure to talk to. Replys back to emails and gives amazing feedback. Office hours with him are super helpful and hes overall a great guy. Plus he gives good life lessons like salt on burns which helped me out.

He was so caring and would always make sure everyone who had something to say during the lecture was heard. He always responds to emails no matter what time. Honestly one of the best and sweetest professors. I recommend him 100% you wont regret it (:

Such a intuitive professor, I enjoyed his lectures, the essays and the exams. He was extremely helpful and gave us everything we needed to pass, while also giving real life opportunities to help is succeed.

Best lectures ever! The whole class was emotional after every single one and no one would miss a class just to listen about fascinating lectures of Child Development. Even if you aren't a Child Dev. and Child Education Major I highly suggest you take this class and his CDES 201 F too. Such a dedicated person towards his passion is his work.

The only thing that sucks is that there are not many things graded on (3 interviews, participation--> just show up to get those points, 3 tests--> the last test is the final). Other than that Mr. Chiaromonte is the most caring, funny, inspirational, and helpful teacher I have ever had in my entire life. I would always recommend him to anyone!

I absolutely loved this class. Mr. Chiaromonte is so sweet, outgoing & funny. The class gets off topic sometimes but it makes it fun & want to engage in the conversations. You have do 2 child interviews & another assignment (the only hw you'll have). I recommend this class but I did struggle some with the midterm & final wasn't that easy.

Tom is one of my favorite professors I have ever taken. His lectures are funny but very informational. I love all of his analogies he makes! His Child Development class is one of my favorite classes I have ever taken in my life. I learned a lot about many different aspects. Just make sure you have access to children to interview for his papers.

I think I only wrote 2/3 papers for this class and it was EASY. It may be boring because it's a lot of lecturing from power points but he cracks jokes every now and then. You can tell he loves what he teaches. The tests are directly from the power points so if you go over them prior to class you'll pass easily.

I took him during Fall 2020, we were online and even though we didn't get to know him in person, I can tell he is such a caring person, he's so passionate about his job! If you email him he replies very fast, he is such a reliable teacher who only wants the best for his students.

Hes pretty nice

Relatively easy class, lectures were up once a week and were normally about an hour or so. Lectures were fine, but he would often go off topic which is why they were long. Compared to my other classes, this was perhaps he was the most lenient on workload with only 2 discussions, 3 interview assignments, and 2 exams. Seems like a caring professor.

Such an amazing and kind professor, very passionate about what he does. Wish I got to take more classes with him. His class is pretty much just lectures although there are a few assignments here and there which are easy. Study the powerpoints and youll do great on the exams! Definitely take him if you have the chance hes the best. (online, covid)

As a child dev. major I was so sad to have to transition to taking this course online. You can tell he is passionate through his recorded lectures and that helps to stay engaged. This particular semester was a weekly lecture, a few written (easy but fun) assignments, and tests (you can use the powerpoint lectures & notes). Great Professor

Loved taking this class. You can really tell the Prof is passionate about his job and his lectures are super interesting. Classwork is easy to understand and easy to complete, and I'm extremely thankful for this given we're in a pandemic.

Chiaromonte is one of the best college professors I have ever had. His lectures were absolutely amazing. He is so passionate about Child Development. His lectures are riveting & engaging. His wisdom is gold! I was able to implement a lot of what I learned! Assignments were few & focused. Was able to work full time & complete course!

Prof. Chiaramonte is caring and friendly. There were 7 assignments the whole semester. Super easy. 1 recoded lecture every week which I enjoyed. The only issue was that the slides were a bit hidden under files. Teachers usually use modules in canvas. The class focuses on how children are/were seen & treated in society historically.

Professor Tom has a clear passion for child development. Which makes learning even better. His lectures were good and very informative. He didn't give much homework. There were 3 papers, he is an easy grader. He is disorganized which makes it a little hard to keep up. He says we need the book, but I bought and we never used it.

Prof. Chiaromonte is by far the greatest professor I've had! He is very passionate about what he teaches and truly cares about educating his students. Only 3 papers due and are fairly fun to work on. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you definitely don't want to miss his lectures! Exams are open note, and multiple choice. Definitely worth your time!

awesome professor that lets you call him by his first name. gave like 4 assignments and the only reason my grade is lower is because i didnt do great on a test but he is really nice and funny and i think he is a great guy/professor.

Best class I have ever taken. Such a caring professor and amazing lectures. Attendance not mandatory but you should go since exams are based on lectures and they are just amazing lectures anyway. 3 exams, 3 reports. If you give effort you 100% will be fine. Wish I could take him again!

Great teacher

Tom is extremely silly and passionate about his work. The first final was harder than the second, so study hard for it. Make sure to read paper prompts multiple times only about 5 things go in the gradebook.

Professor Chiaromonte is very passionate about what he teaches and is an amazing professor.

Extremely knowledgeable on the class topic, can get a little off track but that makes the class even more fun. Pay attention in class and really study for those finals.

Genuinely a wonderful professor. He is extremely passionate about children, and it shows with his dedication to lecture and the stories he retells about his experiences and his family. Be sure to take good notes on his presentations- it helps out a lot! Highly recommend his class if you need a Child Development class.

Unfortunately he had to step out about a month in, so we had a sub, but in the time that I had him as my professor it was great. I actually looked forward going to class. Attendance is graded but I would rather go than not. His explanations were very helpful and he made me feel hopeful about the future. He seemed like he actually cared.

What to say about Tom other than he is a very kind person. A light in the darkness really. During my time taking his class I was going through a extremely rough time and was very much behind but he picked me up dusted off my shoulders and help me pass with at least a C. Please take him, he really is a 10/10 prof, a prof of everyone's dreams.
