He is probably the best professor I have ever had. He offers both sides to an issue. He is never one sided. Who ever said he was too liberal must have fallen asleep in class alot. If you have a chance to take one of his classes take it.

Funny, energetic and very passionate about his subject. Do extra credit and go a few pages over the min req. for papers and essay questions and it's an "A". Make sure you watch the news and like to participate in the class discussion. He defenitly prefers the talkers, especially if they know what they are talking about.

Tom is great!! The class was a lot of fun, I never minded going. Tests are easy, and everything is layed out very simply, it's impossible to mess up.

Good teacher with interesting lectures. Likes BS on papers and exams...it doesn't matter what you write as long as your write a lot of it. Show up to class for an easy A. Bring a laptop to exams if you can type faster than you write so you get more down on paper.

tom is one of the greatest professors i know i will probably ever have. i wasnt interested in american gov't at first, plus it was for winterim, but he made it fun, interesting and kept me awake. he a great teacher and person.

Great Professor, very charasmatic, he'll keep you entertained throughout the whole class period. He may come off to be very liberal, which is okay, but he is really neutral and will consider viewpoints from both sides of the political perspective.

Summer class was very easy...had 1 term paper and 2 essay tests....not a very difficult grader or demanding...even gives you questions for the test. Highly Recommend him...Funny and informative class...one of the best professors I have met yet...

Dr. Tom is an absolutly freakin' amazing prof. He requires alot of his students but the reward of knowledge is worth evry bit of boring reading that is needed. He knows what he is lecturing and presents great class outlines. He is opinionated but presents contrast to everything well. You WILL see both sides of the story in his class. whistle me in!

He knows what he is talking about when it comes to Political Science and he is a really interesting to listen to, but I wasn't a big fan of the way he determines grades. No tests, just 2 in class essays (2 questions, 3 pages each, 2 hour time limit) that are on the verge of impossible to complete succesfully, and another take home 4 page essay.

Just finished up a summer course with Dr. Tom. Extremely bright man, amusing as well. Think balding Dennis Miller(in comedic style and physically looking like Dennis Miller). Lets you out early, but you do need to do the work. Gives you the essays before the tests and ample time to do the tests. Found him very accomodating. I recommend.

Took Tom's summer class. It was by far the easiest class I have ever taken. It is idiot proof as long as you show up. The grade consisted of a small paper (4 pages) and two in classs essays which represented the midterm and final. They were in class essays and he let us HAVE AN OUTLINE!

Dr. Tom is one of the best professors I've had. His classes are interesting, easy to understand and easy to pass. Pretty cute too, if only he weren't married with kids.

Absolutely incredible. This is my second class with Tom and am not dissapointed as usual. He is clear, precise, to the point, full of energy, and is FAIR to his students. Easy A if effort is applied. He requires a lot from his students but also gives alot to them as well. highly recommend!

Cioppa is the greatest. He really does make you think. Very particular from what he wants but the reward is great. Just be forewarned when he says minimum of 2 pages, make it two pages or he shows no mercy

Professor Cioppa is funny and keeps the class going at a quick pace despite a good amount of notes taken each week. Almost always lets class out early and tests and quizzes are extremely easy as long as you read. Papers are challenging, but not impossible, and there are only two (one letter, one essay).

There's your pepper cioppa. You earned it! Cioppa is a great prof. He is a tough grader, but you will learn alot. He'll change your whole perspective on polotics and the world for that matter. Definitely take any of cioppa's classes.

He didn't let us out early often, but I didn't want him to! Class was extremely interesting and all his opinions were worth listening to. Class is not ridiculously easy, but also not too too hard- it's a good balance. LOVE him!

I'va had Dr. Tom for several classes while at BCC. He is clear, concise, and provides a great education to those who are willing to learn. I am transferring to UM in Miami and would be surprised if I find a Poli Sci teacher as informed as Tom. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Most important thing to know about this guy is he is "fair" in the sense he doesn't give any student opportunities he doesn't give other students, and he keeps the class very interesting even if the material is boring. keep up to date with the weekly reading because of the weekly quizzes. he does good reviews

Have taken him for 15 credits worth of classes. Treats his students like adults and expects you to act that way. Papers are due when they are due and no excuses when you miss work. I hope that I will have future professors like him. By the way ladies, he's a looker ;-)

I'll be honest, I hate beurocracy and I hate most politicians. Prof. Cioppa has given me and the students he teaches a chance to speak up and ask questions. He is not a "leftist" like most complain, he is simply getting students to question government, and do it intelligently. He is a passionate and respectable teacher who has inspired me greatly.

Dr. Cioppa knows a hell of a lot about politics. He loves the subject and he's been following it for years, so his personal anecdotes about different times in history are great. He has a great sense of humor, too. If you study for the tests and do all of the homework, you should do well in this class. He's fair and his lectures are clear.

Very nice guy. I liked him. He is a flaming liberal but I was able to like him despite that. His exams are good, his lecture is informative, but his paper sucks. He wants you to write about an activist group and answer questions, but if you answer the question from the lecture slides, he gets mad. Makes no sense.

This professor absolutely destroyed my faith in teachers, made me hate liberals because he is one, and caused me to never want to be anywhere close to a college again.

Cioppa beats to the rhythm of his own drum. With that being said, YOU WILL LEARN SO MUCH FROM HIM. Warning: he is not for the lazy student. I took two of his classes at once, and wrote a total of 9 essays and 2 research papers due along the same deadlines, but honestly I would do it again, he's an exceptional teacher.

This will be my most remembered Professor to-date. He tells you what he wants and expects. Not really hard. Just read. You learn a lot about the politics of Environmental Science. His lectures were most enjoyable. Class was never boring. He gets my kudos for best Professor.

Dr Tom is a great professor. His class is not easy at all, but he makes class interesting and dynamic. The tests are relatively easy; just multiple choice. However, the homework and essays are a lot of writing, so make sure you are ready for that. The workload is manageable, though. Dr Tom will make you work, but it'll be worth it as you'll learn.

I'm not interested in political science at all and i still liked his class. He keeps the class engaged even while discussing dry topics. Homework and the bill of rights paper is mandatory to passing but both assignments are fairly simple. Tests are fair, he gives you the tools you need to study. Great professor!

Professor Cioppa is an asset to Brookdale. I took this course online. You must participate in weekly discussion boards. There is a mid-term paper, a final paper, and one special interest paper. You will learn so much! Prof. Cioppa is very helpful, knowledgeable, and wants to see his students succeed. A true college professor all the way! Take him!

Things i'll mentioned are that he is straight forward, NO phones, attend class, and hand in all assignments AS SPECIFIED, no lateness accepted. TAKE HIS CLASS, but really listen to what he has to say.

I took Prof Cioppa for several classes. He is the best teacher I have ever had. After my first class with him, I immediately started looking for more. An incredibly intelligent professor, always challenging the previously held beliefs of all of his students. The posts on this page citing him as a liberal are stubborn students who do not THINK and are entrenched in their own political opinions. CRITICAL THINKING is the key to success not only in this class, but in political science in general.

Dr. Tom is an awesome professor. One of few stars at brookdale. He is eccentric, passionate and insightful. The type of professor to leave you questioning your own view points through an alternate metaphorical lens. If you have a chance to take him do it an A is possible but ultimately, you have to do the work and show the effort.

Tom Cioppa is the best professor at BCC, period. Took him when I was enrolled at Rutgers University through the Communiversity program. Great lectures, challenges your beliefs + a whole lot of papers, but it is very much worth it if you actually want to learn. Should honestly be teaching at an Ivy League, but BCC and RU are very lucky to have him.

I LOVED DR. TOM If you really want to learn and get interested in a new subject, Dr. Tom is the way to go. He is a great guy and even in an online class he responds very quickly and gives amazing feedback. I like that he does not sugarcoat when you are wrong and also applauds you when you have great ideas. I will DEF take him again.

Dr. Tom is the best Prof I had while at Brookdale, he really does a good job at making you challenge the views you have prior to having his class, and he makes his lectures interesting by delving into current events as well. If you can, take him for a class like Poli 101 and you'll really learn a lot.

I have taken Dr. Tom twice. The first time at Brookdale Community College and then at Rutgers. I have him again in spring 2017. I can't say enough positives about him. He is not easy but you won't mind. He has high expectations of the student and himself. He is clear and passionate. He is changing the world through his occupation.

Dr. Tom is eccentric about the glory and horror of politics. I had the privilege of taking the class during the 2016 election (discussions were quite heated at times). Enjoys PP to notes for most classes, but always begins class with an open forum for Q/A. Reading is recommended. MC-Scantron exams. Approachable outside class. Very passionate!

Dr. Tom knows his stuff and does his job very well. He is able to explain government in ways very easy to understand. Dr. Tom loves his job and he shows it. He is hilarious blunt and realistic. If you aren't flexible to new ideas and people who think differently you best get ready to learn. Reading and papers are plentiful but not difficult.

Dr. Tom is probably the best professor at brookdale. Extremely funny and criticizes both democrats and republicans evenly. Half the class is usually a debate of the news and the other half is lecture. Never a boring class w/ Dr. Tom. Study guides are exactly whats on the test. Dr. Toms is amazing! I took his online POLI 105 class in the Spring and he engages with the students in the discussions. He lets you know what is expected of you and is willing to answer any questions or concerns you have. His discussions really get you thinking. I would so take him again!Thanks Dr. Tom!!!

He's a pretty solid professor. Only gives 2 papers, if you follow the guidelines you shouldn't get lower than a 90 on them. You're gonna have to read a lot for the tests but he gives you a study guide which helps. Overall, good class, the only thing I didn't like is he would sometimes go on left wing rants which was annoying but I'd take again.

This guy is a piece of work in the best way. WARNING !!! He does get very political and is bound to say something that you are either not comfortable with and/or disagree with. Just know that he actually likes people that think for themselves. So never be afraid to disagree with him. TIP !! his papers are a summary of the textbook & don't be late.

He knows political science, but he his far to the left. Claims he is not a democrat because they are too centrist. The man bragged about voting for Jill Stein in 2016 election, that tells you all you need to know about his political leanings. I'd still drink a beer with him.

He is a very straight forward professor, I've taken 2 of his classes, and each class generally followed the same criteria. He lectures for most of the class, with class discussion, which makes it more engaging. You take notes, read the chapters he assigns in the textbook (isnt a crazy amount of reading). Then you will take a 50 question mc test

Dr. Tom knows his stuff. His dry humor had us laughing often. There were three fairly simple exams - he e-mails a study guide the week before the exam. Make sure to read the textbook. Dr. Tom started each class with current events, which is good, but the discussion usually lasted about an hour, which took time away from the course content.

Put your political biases away and just listen to reason - don't come to a Political Science class with your mind made up on everything there is about politics. Prof. Cioppa makes Poli Sci interesting and fun. It's not an EASY A, there are 2 papers and 3 tests - put your best foot forward with the essays, USE the study guides, and you will do well!

I was not very knowledgeable about our nation's government before taking this course. However I was excited to learn that most people in my class were in the same boat as me! The professor was very helpful in answering any questions that I had and was not too harsh on grading the work as the posts are based on opinion. GREAT PROFESSOR

Dr. Tom is an entertaining character that makes PoliSci interesting for the political junkie and average student alike. Hes very explicit about whats important from the lecture. If you read through the chapters and look over his study guide youll find the test to be very straight forward.

Dr. Tom is such a passionate professor that he makes you love indulging in politics and global topics. He teaches his class like a normal four-year university class. We were graded on weekly 2 pg international news summaries and 3 fairly easy exams. If you do one thing for your education, take him. He's one of those professors you'll never forget.

My only regret is that I won't be able to take another class with him. Papers are very specific to readings so either keep up with his weekly reading assignments or be good at finding specific info in an 80+ page chapter as you write. You learn a lot and he is the funniest prof/person I've ever met. Caring but no B.S. Highly recommend.

Second time taking a class with Dr. Tom. Definitely has some quirks you will expect each class but dedicated to students. 3 take-home essay exams and one semester paper. Write more than the minimum. Two textbooks required. Keep up with the readings annotate and highlight! Current events discussions run long, though, and lectures are repetitive.

Prof Cioppa is a passionate instructor who makes lectures feel shorter than they are. You get 4 papers, and all are easy, where prompts are basically "summarize this chapter". I didn't appreciate, however, a comment he made repeatedly in jest to sleepy-looking students offering them "Prozac or whiskey" as someone who takes Prozac just to live....

I'm a political science major and he's the best teacher to have if you really want to get into depth with poli sci. Whatever he says is on the test, is on the test. Try to make all your classes and do good on your papers, they're worth a lot too. This was the second class I've taken of his and you'll love his lectures! Dr. Tom is one of a kind!

I was amazed how dedicated this professor was and how helpful was his feedback, no matter what the question was! Papers were open-book style, very easy once you read the material and truly understood what he wanted from you. I liked the fact that he would always reply to you in discussions, asking questions and make you and your opinion counted.

He's a cool teacher, old school though. No canvas which is the worst part of the class and scatrons as well that there were issues. Keep track of your grades! Overall great teacher and funny! Just wishes he would use canvas

He's great! Very passionate about Poli Sci and makes the class very fun and easy-going. Weekly quizzes that consisted of 5 questions, weekly discussion posts, and 2 exams that are essay formatted & straight for the book. He's a little tough on the exams but you'll easily pass with an A/B if you just put in the time

Professor Cioppa, although the class was all online, and no lectures seems like an awesome professor. His assignments were easy and his grading is relatively generous. I am not sure if it's because I am a good essay writer or he gave me some slack. It's very easy to lose track of fully online no lecture classes. Amazing person and professor.

Dr. Tom is an awesome professor who you should not underestimate. Do not go into this class thinking he is really chill and will let things slide like other professors. You do things once and it is graded once that's it. His lectures are entertaining and he is professional. Keep in mind he will not allow laptops for note-taking, so get a notebook.

THE BEST ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD, Dr.Cioppa goes way beyond being a simple professor. He wants you to succeed and help you in every possible way. You need to do your assignments as it should be. There is a fair amount of readings, but when it comes to the test he hands a detailed study guide with everything you need to pass.
