Mr. Deden is a good teacher. He is helpful and fair.

Lectures are boring. Journals are boring and a pain. Not hard if you start doing Journals right away. Test are hard. Have to know your stuff

If you are just taking this class for GE, then it is really fun. You can rest in class. You have to do nothing for this class, just, when he gives a midterm, make sure to read the assigned chapters. All questions come from the book. :-)

deden is one of the best teachers i've had. his lectures might be boring to some, but i thought they were great and well informing. you have 3 exams and a journal, which are fine as long as you do the reading and study. he is an excellent teacher!

Tom is a great teacher. I don't really know what all these other people are saying about him not being funny, he's great fun. He kept me interested (a hard thing to do) and I got through his class just fine. I highly reccommend him.

Great teacher. But how is a white guy allowed to teach American Race Relations? Oh well. Do you portfolio assignments every week (don't wait until the last minute). Don't let the subject get to you.

deden is one of the best teachers i've ever had and his lectures are extremely interesting. i'm offended that people have a problem with a white guy teaching race relations. he does the job just as good as anyone else would. i definitely recommend him for any soc. class. he's great!

funny teacher, really cool, but those tests aren't a walk in the park! you will listen to and understand the whole lecture but will be knocked off your butt by the hard mult. choice q's that require major book reading. that was a big drawback

needs more class participation and constantly says, "that kind of thing...", which really got on my nerves. a very friendy and approachable man. make sure you read the book carefully.

Mr. Deden is a great teacher and a great guy. Everytime I asked him a question, he was willing to drop whatever he was doing to help. He was also great with our in-class discussions, it helped make class actually fun. One of the best!

He always uses fun examples that will jolt your attention back to him if you are drifting. tests are pretty difficult, make sure someone askes for a study guide for each one (4) for the class, they will help out alot. Also reading the book helps tremendously, and its pretty interesting stuff.

I am taking him this semester online. A few more weeks to go to finish the class. He is a supergreat instructor. I love his style- independent student work. I really get a lot of satisfaction from the material that is emphasized and the other material that is not. The book is really interesting too. Take him if you like independent studies online.

I am so glad that Mr. Deden was in charge of the Human Sexuality class. He is not a controlling instructor. When I'm taking a new class, controlling instructors bother me. He posted the tests(take in your own time). Read the chapters, do the study questions, and you'll make a fair grade. He gave a chance to make up missed tests. FAIR/no final!!

Took 2 courses - one telecourse and one in-class. As long as you watch the tapes, or follow along in class; plus read the book, you should do well. I got B in telecourse, and A in class. Very interesting courses! Mr. DeDen has lots of interesting personal stories and a good sense of humor. I loved these classes and strongly recommend him!

Professor Deden's Sociology class was a hilarious, wonderful time. Teaching to a 2:05 class is one of the most challenging traumas for a West Valley instructor Deden was in fine form. He is very enthusiastic about his subject, and his exams are great review of the material. In his class, Sociology is fun and fast-paced.

He's a great guy who is definitely very passionate about what he is doing. He makes the course interesting and he also throws in a lot of jokes which makes the course that much more interesting. If you do the reading, you'll be sure to do well on the test, its that easy.

De Den is a great teacher. He is interesting and very helpful. He primarily uses the textbook, and lecture material for his exams and quizzes, but they are a reinforcement of eachother, so if you read and go to class, you will do great. He is funny and helps you to understand class material. Extra credit option too. I highly recommend him.

I took this class online and it was really easy. Basically you read a chapter a week, take a quiz on it then post on the message boards. The book is really informative and interesting. It’s the only book I kept for future reference.

lectures are half of lesson and half of his life or other classes he teaches. He can keep ur attention and shows interesting movies. its a fun class and has a relaxed atmosphere, he even offers extra credit.

Mr Deden is really nice but your grade is based on the tests. I studied for one and got a C. I didnt pass one test and now I have to get a perfect on the final to get a C in the class. Take him if you get stuff easily and dont want quizzes or hw. Not very easy.

Deden is pretty dope, very interesting lectures. His lectures explain about 75% of what is on his exams. If you read the chapters you will easily see the other 25% If you just go to class its an easy C if you simply read the book, its an easy A

Avery useful class for life.

The class is pretty easy, I attend every day and got a 90% on the first test with minimal studying (no reading, a tiny bit of studying in my prior two classes the same day as the exam). Gets off topic some, and shares a lot of personal stories, but he's a funny guy and not hard to pay attention to

Tom Deden is a great teacher. His lectures are really funny and he really tries to grasp your attention. You can tell this guy is dedicated to his work and teaching the material to students. Come to class the day after the midterm because that's when he takes attendence. Read the book and take notes!

DeDen's Sex class is an easy A as long as you make sure to come to every class and reinforce the lecture with the assigned reading. He does not ask you to memorize useless facts or many %s/dates. Although some of the material is "duh" worthy, it was still an interesting class. Occasionally he will use "hick" accents when he imitates right wingers

Easiest online class ever! I'm so glad I signed up. The whole class is just four exams, each of which covers three chapters in the text, which is a very light and pretty interesting read. If you're looking for an easy 3 units, take this class.

I took this class online over the summer, 3 week course. VERY easy. 4 tests, 2-3 chapters each, 30 questions. Easy A. He does send a lot of pointless e-mails, and trys to scare you out of taking the class. Take it!

For his online class the requirements are straight forward. The exams are tough which he expects you to know the study material front and back. 30 minutes to complete 31 multiple choice questions. His attitude was very welcoming. No homework, just four exams. To get an A it requires a lot of reading but to pass is no problem.

Took his 4 week online hum. sex. class; I was nervous b/c the last online class I took was bad, but this guy has his act together. Breaks everything down from the start, so you know what is expected. 4 tests, usually 3 chapters, spaced about a week apart, each test worth 1/4 of grade. Also offers an extra credit assignment. Very good class!

Mr. De Den is a fantastic teacher!! One of the best classes I've ever taken. He's very informative and considerate of students. He's really nice and funny, which lightens up the class when discussing more serious matters. If you attend class, pay attention, and read the textbook, you will get an 'A'.

To take this class, one has to be open-minded and have a sense of humor; otherwise, one might find Professor Deden a bit strange and awkward. He does tend to ramble a lot, but he's sincere, helpful, and caring. Extremely clear about content and tests. However, your grade is only based on exams. No assignments, but exams are easy.

Just finished his online, late start Sociology of Human Sexuality class. So straight-forward I wasn't sure if I was reading the syllabus right! Two quizzes, three exams, and an optional EC paper. Read the assigned chapters and there are no surprises. Got 100% on all exams just by doing the assigned work and learned a lot. Thanks De Den!

Tom is a great teacher! I took his online class in the Spring 2016 and it was an easy A. As long as you read the chapters thoroughly and focus on the bold vocabulary, you will pass his tests. Also, really contribute to the discussion posts, the more you write the better your grade on it. Definitely recommend taking his class!!!

Took online course and it went well. He responds quickly. He gives a couple of quizzes at beginning of the class that you can take multiple times until you pass. This is his way of tracking attendance and to familiarize yourself with what you need to know to pass his exams. He provides a clear syllabus.

Great professor, gives good examples and explains material well. He also loves to crack jokes.

Took his online class. First day he assigns two 50 point quizzes that you are able to retake as many times you want. 3 discussions, 3 exams. the third exam is the final and worth more points. 25 questions per exam and is timed. Exams are very difficult you have to read every small detail in the reading to pass. DO NOT procrastinate with the reading

Great, funny teacher! Sometimes gets off track during lectures though. Tests are mostly straight-forward and always multiple choice only. Attendance is required, but you can pass with missing a few.

Course-related to psychology is not my strong suit, especially sociology. But this course was very interesting. The things you learn in this course will help you look at life from a different perspective. This course consists of three exams and two practice quizzes with three discussions for each exam. Overall Its ALOT of reading

Extremely straightforward. I appreciated his feedback and he is accessible and sends you reminders when assignments are due. Two repeatable practice quizzes, 3 discussions, 2 exams & 1 final make up your grade. A good amount of readings but its not dense and actually really interesting content. Read the textbook and youll pass with an A.

I loved this class. He is awesome at giving reminders and while previous reviewers are correct in that he has a strict time limit and tests on very specific things I thought the tests were quite easy. It's an easy read and the content is interesting. I never took notes or anything yet I aced every single test. Easy online asynch class, take him!!

Read your book, take diligent notes, study your notes, take the online practice tests, take the test on time. get an A. You are being solely tested on the reading and comprehension. This was the best online class with absolutely no surprises and I really learned the material, which was also interesting.

Took this class online async. Fall 2021 and had a great experience. The majority of the course is textbook reading and the only things that make it in the grade book are 3 tests (which are in total 85% of your grade), and 3 discussion posts for said exams. He does offer non-credit practice quizzes which are honestly so helpful. Would recommend.
