Great teacher. Very fun class but when it comes to doing the work, you have to take a lot of notes because those notes will help you stay ahead. I'd say the notes are the most important in class. Very easy class, fun teacher, and definitely a favorite of mine.

I felt very comfortable using AutoCAD sw and able to use techniques that I learned only by attending his class in a relatively short period of time. No need to purchase an expensive textbook as the teacher is pretty confident that you?d learn the material. Highly recommend him for any classes which are extremely fun with his sociable personality.

I came to his class with 8 years of 3D rendering background,but Dr. Fergusen proved me that no matter how much u know the subject there r still things u can learn. I took ENGR 109 & 110, attended all classes & spent little extra time before & after class on projects when needed. After 110 I passed the Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional Exam with ease with no extra preparation required. Tom's course curriculum is based on industry experience & I feel well prepared to enter the worforce as an AutoCAD user.

He is one of my fav. teachers. He is cool and he teaches the material you need to know not just to pass the class, but to use it later on when/if you get a job related to this course. Great professor, I took ENGR 101 drafting with him. It was a late night class and sometimes hard to stay awake, but I got an A. He only expects you to know what he covers in class so no excuses and even shares some practical knowledge relevant to the topic. Good class but it does require some time to complete the drawings.

Took CAD with him over the summer and actually enjoyed it. Explains how to do everything and give to plenty of time in class to finish classwork and homework. It was really fun and a very useful class! If you get the chance definitely take it with him

You go into class and Tom provides you with the skills and know-how to become a potent and marketable draftsman and engineer. He will repeat it many times, do not try to memorize the steps he takes to design something, instead learn the commands so you can design anything down the road. Take this class, and you can get a good job as a draftsman.

Mr. Ferguson is the best professor at GCC. I took him for engr. 101, 109, and 110. His classes are straightforward, and he explains concepts very thoroughly. The skills you learn in his classes are helpful when applying to internships. I strongly recommend taking his classes if you are an engineering student.

He is someone who if his plane crashed in the middle of the Sahara Desert, could hand draw plans to make it fly again. He worked on Stealth Bombers and Classic Cars and is adept at drawing up his dynamic plans with CAD and Solid Works. He begins each class by saying, "Now I want you all to learn this." And repeats steps three times, at least.

He is one of the effective teachers which i have ever had, hilarious, awesome, gentleman, and honest person. Just try to be in class and follow whatever he is doing then you'll be fine with this course. He covers all the materials need to know for the Auto CAD concept for both Mechanical and Civil Engineering. All I can say is the Best teacher.

Tom is a great professor who really knows his stuff. Pay attention during the lectures because he will show you more than one way doing things. Don't skip trying features as it will only make things more difficult for you as the class goes on. Overall great class, I suggest taking it in Summer or Winter so you can work everyday.

Tom is a wonderful professor and i learned a great deal from his classes. I took his Engineering 101, 109 and 110 classes. I learned a lot of useful information. He has been in the Engineering industry for a long time, so he has a lot of hands on experience in the field. Throughout this lectures he will let you know where you can apply each skill.

Prof. Ferguson was a great teacher. I am a 4 year University student and I took this class during the summer when I was at home. This has probably been the best class I've taken in college. The stuff you learn is very useful and Tom does a great job explaining everything. Only complaint is sometimes the class moves a little slow. Great class.

I had zero experience with CAD when I enrolled in professor Fergusons class. By watching and learning from his lectures we not only became familiarized with the program, but we learned how to simplify the approach to more complicated projects. He is experienced, friendly, funny, and an absolute joy to have as a teacher.

Professor Ferguson is probably the most experienced and specialized engineering professor at GCC. Him coming from the aerospace background, he told us the importance of designing and all the aspects of engineering. I definitely recommend anyone that's in Engineering to take his classes!

A great teacher, have had him twice already and both times learnt a lot, Ill be taking him for a third time. I had professor Ferguson for ENGR 109 and 110 and I say that hes a great professor overall. I learned a lot from his lectures and he teaches the materials really good. He also looks at how the class is doing and adjusts some assignment due dates based on that. Do the work and you'll do good in his class!

Taking this class during COVID, the remote class fit my schedule better and I definitely learned a lot. There were video lectures everyday, that I could manually pause and review, which left me not afraid of feeling left behind. The instructions are clear, and the professor answered every students' questions, even e-mailing CAD files to help out!

I took AutoCad with him and I'm so glad that I did. I really learned in this class. he explained everything in short amazing videoes and always was available to answer any questions. I was in his ENG 109 class. He used to go over every single project himself before asking us to do them. His amazing lectures were easy to follow. He covers everything that is needed for the exams before taking them. I think he is the best professor in the engineering department and I wish he had other classes as well. Plenty of videos that are step by step. If you pay attention, ask questions and actually try doing the work you should get a decent grade.

He wants you to really understand how to draft and the concepts behind drafting. The work can be hard and tedious but that's where the appreciation comes in. Professor Ferguson wants to see effort and see that you're trying to do the work, that you're trying to learn the concepts.

Awesome teacher. I took Tom's class when coronavirus started. Even though it was his first time doing online classes, he adapted quickly. You can really see he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. His lectures are easy to understand and he answers all questions. If you want to learn autocad, take his class. Mr. Ferguson is the person who excels at his job of teaching you the software (AutoCAD), he had tutorial videos for all of the assigned projects and they were split into different parts where every step of the way he showed not one, but many different ways of solving problems. If you know what you're doing then you can breeze along this class pretty easily. But he also does offer a lot of help to students who are struggling with some parts of the projects he assigns. Really great professor and is willing to help you with any questions regarding your future if you ask.

He is very detailed, and clear with AutoCAD tools and commands instruction. Teaches very much from an industry point of view. What you learn in class you will apply in the workplace. The projects are typical of what a drafter or designer would be working on. I hope he can get certification to teach Revit. I would take another class with him.

I took his classes from Engr 101, 109, and now my last class 110. He is very approachable, answers questions, help you understand the concepts of engineering. He give a lot of advises and encouragements to students. If you are having difficulty, he will walk you through. Exams are pretty standard if you pay attention to his lectures.
