Class was always entertaining, and the quizzes and tests weren't too bad. Plus, he's REALLY enthusiastic about what he's teaching, which makes it more interesting and FUN (!) for the students.

Thought it was an easy class. Got As on the midterm & paper but a B in the class. Don't take the class unless you're sincerely interested in the topic.

I loved this class and the teacher. There was nothing not to like. There's basically no outside reading, and the lectures are interesting and well presented. If you're interested in the subject, I definitely recommend it!

Professor Gordon is helpful, straight-forward, and makes almost any topic worth learning. He has a sense of humor, but keeps things in perspective. His motto is "There are A students, there are B students and there are those that can be explained by the fact that they didn't come to class." Great. Make sure you take this before you graduate.

All the quiz and test material comes from lecture, which is good if you don't like reading. Lectures move pretty quickly so it's a bummer if you miss class or can't keep up. The material is pretty interesting and he is more than willing to answer any additional questions. Not a bad class.

Class rocks. Easy class, actually interesting, and professors are cool. both professors are great guys and always smiling. Dr Gordon is department chair.Class is cake and hella cool. i recommend it for anyone who needs a 3 unit wr and SS or Sci Ge. And its great telling ppl youre in Mushrooms,Molds,& Society, your parents will think youre insane.

He teaches interesting lectures and has tests that are very easy if you actually take notes in class. Every last question on tests comes straight out of lecture and he presents the material in a straightforward, often humorous way, but don't miss lecture.

Probably my favorite teacher this quarter. He keeps the students interested in the subject matter and has a sense of humor. A really great teacher who is approachable and friendly. Like a knowledgeable friend

interesting professor for a not that interesting subject matter. he puts all his lectures on PPT online at myucdavis but ALL the notes will come from lecture. MUST go to lecture, i missed once and missed a lot. however he is humorous in his lecture and keeps me awake every class, recommended to take for SciEng & Wri need.

Excellent lecturer with a good sense of humor. His powerpoints are probably the most entertaining powerpoints I've ever seen. I have no idea how anybody can give this prof a low rating unless they never show up to class. Try to make it to his lectures, because the powerpoints aren't always very detailed.

Easy, interesting class. He is a nice guy and very knowledgeable. His tests are really easy, if you go to class you should be fine. His ppts are easy to follow and sometimes pretty funny. Overall good class and cool teacher.

I don't understand how anyone cannot like this professor. Grading is very fair and you know how to get an A at the beginning of the course. It is easy, just go to class and study the lecture notes! Subject was really interesting eventhough I never thought I would like mushrooms I loved this class. It was great! I definately recommend it!

i loved this class. easy easy A. just go to lecture and pay attention. the readings he posts online arent part of the tests so you really dont have to read them. the subject was actually really interesting and i really love the class. professor has a very interesting sense of humor and really knows his subject!! Gordon is an excellent professor. He makes a really good effort to make the class fun, his power points are hilarious and he is very consistent; you wouldn't know if he was having a bad day. Very easy grading. Show up to lecture, learn a little but about mushrooms, and get your A. Highly recommended

This is an excellent class. I highly recommend it! At first I took this class to fill in my schedule but I'm SO happy I did. The material is very interesting but the teacher is even better! Professor Gordon is very intelligent and a great lecturer. He makes lectures funny and very interesting. As long as you do the work its easy to get an A.

Great teacher,knows his stuff, makes it entertaining. The tests are shortanswer and multiple choice with lots of extra credit and the 2 page papers are easy to get good grades on. He makes his expectations clear and tells you everything you need to know in lecture. Just go to lecture to listen and review the power points before the test to get A+

Nice guy, loves the subject, excellent lecturer. Posts all lecture slides online, pretty much all test questions come straight from slides. Hope to take another class with him, learned a lot of useful stuff about what i thought was a random topic. Easy class if you study off slides: TAs didnt really know what to do if you answered in any other way.

I had to take this class for DHC but it turned out to be an amazing class, his lectures are entertaining and the material actually became interesting, although he did post his lectures online it was still possible to miss some material by not being there. Friendly and helpful if you get to know him and very very accessible, and very willing to help

Gordon is a really cool, funny guy. I can't really bring myself to get very excited about fungus, but he does his best to make the material funny and interesting. Not a bad way to get science GE credits, I guess.

I think I might love Tom Gordon. 'Shrooms, mold, and fungi don't interest me one bit, but I thoroughly enjoyed his class. His power point slides are fun! Tom tries hard to be a great prof, and it pays off. Go to class (or not), but put in a little effort and get to know him. You'll be rewarded with an A.

Can't possibly say enough good things about Professor Gordon. This is the best class I've taken at Davis, and I hate science. He's hilarious, and he makes lectures super fun.

Gordon is the greatest teacher i have had at davis so far. he is very funny and really gets into the subject. he gives study guides for each exam, the papers are really short and easy, and he is always willing to help his students. there is no textbook. i HIGHLY recommend taking this class. i learned a lot.

No book, no homework, 3 quizzes highest 2 count, and he gives you the article a week in advance. Tests are easy if you study the study guide, easy A. Essays are easy, just get them reviewed by him at his office hours and you'll get an A. GPA BOOSTER! And lectures were interesting never fell asleep even though it was a 10am class.

Extraordinary prof and class! Learned a lot. He's funny, clear and very simple. Papers (2-3 pgs), quizzes, and midterms are easy and fairly graded. Information is interesting and engaging. Would definitely recommend this class!

Professor was clear and was interesting. SAS30 is a good class to take. One bummer is that if you don't go to class you can get behind easily but that is similar to every class. If you just look at lectures he posts online, it doesn't contain everything on midterms and finals because he talks about random things as well.

He's awesome. Funny, interesting to listen to. I learned more about fungi than I thought possible xD No textbook, easy A IF you go to class (you must). No textbook, papers are easy, tests are very clear and straight from lecture. I definitely recommend this class for GE credit (W/SE/SS).

Dr. Gordon is great. He has a good sense of humor and is a very clear lecturer. This is a good class to fill out an otherwise difficult class load. The tests are not demanding, and the writing assignments (there were 3) are not that time consuming. Powerpoints are provided.

This guy is an awesome teacher. This is an awesome subject to learn about. I had my doubts in the beginning, but the material is fun and easy to learn about. Final is non-cumulative and the midterms were so easy too. He posts all slides online if you have to miss lecture. Lecture is entertaining to go to anyway so a lot of ppl always show up.

Professor Gordon is the true Boss of Bosses, wonderful professor and extremely helpful during office hours. This class is fairly easy if you study for the 2 midterms and essays.Quizes and essays are also easy. Posts lecture notes online.

EASY. memorize his powerpoints (posted all online) and you dont even need to attend any classes to get an A. he also posts study guides for midterms/final which are all noncumulative. a few writing assignments that are pretty easy and short as well. great lecturer. makes class fun and interesting. take for a GPA boost

Best class I ever took! Prof Gordon is awesome, he makes a bland subject very enjoyable. Sure some lectures can put you to sleep but he tries his best and puts a lot of effort in his powerpoints( lots of funny animations). Study lecture slides(online) for the tests and you should be fine. Essays are pretty easy depending on the TA. TAKE IT!

Interesting class, great teacher, easy A. Go to most of the lectures, read the notes online, do the study guide, a few "start the night before it's due" short papers and you will for sure get an A. One of the funniest and most interesting classes at UCD. No textbook. Midterms are easy if you have any clue about what's going on in class

best/easiest class i've had a ucd! no txtbook, easy papers about high school level, do the study guide for exams and you'll get an A for sure! final was as short as a regular midterm!

really open to meeting with students and always readily available. if you miss a quiz you can talk to him and reschedule, but talk to him and make sure you show up. He is really funny, he makes you want to go to class. Easy too!

Professor Gordon was not only helpful and knowledgeable on the subject, but he was amazing at PPT presentations, making the class easy to follow along with. The material was also very comprehensive and really delved into the importance of Fungi. HE IS AWESOME! As a plus, his sense of humor is hilarious!

90% is an A. No A- thought that was pretty cool. As for Everything else, read all the other ratings. All very true. Recommended class!

Professor Gordon is soooo funny. He makes powerpoints very interesting, and always cracks jokes. Class is a relatively easy GE if you show up to lecture, take good notes, and do the study guides before each midterm. Pretty simple. He's great!

Go to lecture if you're not busy. if you are busy, just study the slides the night before, and get an A in the class. Very little work, I didnt actually learn much TBH.

One of my favorite classes at Davis! Professor Gordon is very funny, and makes class enjoyable. Powerpoints are posted online, so its not really necessary to go to class. Down to 90% is an A. Its an easy A as long as you read over the powerpoints a day or two before the exams, and do the study guide.

Best class ever! he's such a great lecturer (even though you don't have to attend his classes because all of his slides are online). 2 midterms and 1 final, all not cumulative. He also provides very helpful study guides!

Tom Gordon is one of the best prof. here at Davis. Yeah he post lectures online, but there are videos and animations you cannot see unless you are in class. It is worth sitting 50 mins to listen to his lectures. He is hilarious and the class is perfect. A Quiz every week, but he provides study guides that are simple. Take the class.. do it!

Prof. Gordon is FANTASTIC. Easiest A+ I have ever gotten at Davis. Also I should mention that I probably only attended 60% of lectures. Going to class isn't required but his lectures are DA BOMB. Do the study guides and show up for the quizzes. Final was super easy. There was a Jedi Lightsaber battle on Halloween in lecture. TAKE HIM!

Super easy. Don't even need to go to class, except quizzesfinal. Just do all the questions he posts on study guides before quizzes and memorize. Under 5 hw assignments, due online. Final is quiz questions. Teacher is kind and tries to make lectures as interesting as possible, puts in pretty funny jokes! Also, go to lecture nearest Halloween :)

Easiest class I've ever taken. I went to the first 2 lectures and skipped the rest, excluding quiz days. He posts all lectures online and gives study guides for quizzes. 7 quizzes total. Final is all quiz questions. He called us all out for skipping lecture once, which I felt bad about, but I got things to do, people to see. Overall great class.

Gordon is hilarious and this class is surprisingly applicable in everyday life! I always find myself referencing something learned in SAS 30, and I guess it's understandable because Gordon's lectures are super entertaining/memorable! Just complete his study guides and you'll get an A without trouble!

AMAZING CLASS. He is so fun and funny. Every day I come to class it's like a comedy show. He makes it understandable and actually helps you learn the concepts by giving you all the resources you need. Best professor ever.

Loved this class! Gordon's lectures are well-organized, and he's so personable and funny - I would take any class with him. Just study for the quizzes and you'll do fine. Some homework, but the final is totally straightforward. Though it was a relatively easy class, I still learned a lot.

Final was fairly easy and was just repeat questions from study guides and quizzes. 90% and up is an A. No A-. If you get him please go to lectures, it shows respect plus the lectures are incredible.

FANTASTIC class! You can tell how much he loves fungus and his lectures are incredibly interesting (if you go for them). Easy weekly quizzes on lectures that he posts on Canvas, a couple homework assignments, and a final. You also don't really have to go to class unless there's a quiz. Definitely would love to take another class with him!

Very interesting class, surprisingly relevant material. Professor had a sense of humor and test questions were very clear. 7 quizzes, lowest dropped 60% , easy with study guides . 3 read-answer question hwrk for 20%, and final 20% which is previous quiz questions without the readings. Loved the class, want to try growing my own mushrooms now.

He is really nice and easy going. Lectures were enjoyable and entertaining. He is willing to answer any questions you may have regarding the course material. Weekly quizzes were easy as long as you complete the study guide and assigned reading. He drops your lowest quiz. The final was a bit challenging so review everything beforehand.

I took SAS 30 as an elective and I absolutely loved it. There are no midterms just a quiz every week and a final exam. He has a great teaching style and his lectures are very interesting! As long as you show up to lecture and pay attention, you will get an A. I highly recommend Dr. Gordon!!
