What a great professor! Not only is he very interesting, and makes every one of his lectures exciting, but he allows you to use your notes AND book on EVERY exam! I didn't even buy the book and got an easy A in this class. If you do not get an A in this class, you are deaf, blind and dumb, and even then you don't have much of an excuse!
HANDS DOWN EASIEST PROF I HAVE EVER HAD! LETS YOU USE NOTES AND BOOK ON TESTS. WISH HE TAUGHT MORE CLASSES!
It makes me sad that he doesn't teach more classes I need. He has a great sense of humor and kept me interested in a boring subject. No attendance policy though you should probably go, and he lets you use notes on the tests. I love Prof Grimes!
I took him for history of mass media. It was the easiest class I have had my entire college career. There were 4 tests that he allowed you use your notes and book on each. Easiest A!!
Take him!! What are you waiting for?! Open note/book tests (even though I never bought the book because you don't really need it)He has interesting lectures and he's a genuinely nice professor!
Open notes/Open book tests!! And yet, I still made a 'B' in this class (...but I'm worthless)!! Very cool old man who loves talking about Mass Media. The only beef I had was that his tests are only about 25 Q's long, so if you miss 3-4 answers, you're already in the 'B' range. Don't buy the book, just take notes like a mad man!
This class is quite easy but his lectures are very boring. He is a funny man but somehow he still has the ability to bore me and my class. He doesn't post any information on TRACS except grades and he doesn't do slide shows so you basically have to write really fast to keep up with him. I'd still recommend his class though. He's nice as hell.
This class is my fav. Grimes is hilarious in my opinion but if u dont like a facetious sense of humor dont sit in the front bc he picks on ppl sometimes. Really nice guy, but no one ever goes bc he doesnt take attendance. No book required, 4 open note tests, no pressure to cram for tests then forget the info so ive actually learned a lot. TAKE HIM!
Fantastic professor - very funny. However, he is no pushover and you need to come to class and take notes for the exams - the answers are not handed to you and you need to know the material! You know? Kind of like a college student should??
This guy is awesome. If you show up to class and just listen, it's an easy B. If you take notes too, it's an easy A. He has experience in the industry and can actually teach you something, all while making the class easy to do well in. Take him.
He is quite a character. The class is easy, open note tests. His lectures are pretty interesting but attendance isnt manditory. Test questions can be a little wordy. I definitely reccommend him :) very happy, funny guy!
Funny professor. Never took notes, didn't have the textbook and I got a B. Hard to follow in class. Make sure you take this class with people you know so you can get together and understand what he said in class.
There is no book, reliant only on lecture.Attendance not taken, but important to be in class for all these reasons. 4 tests, 1 dropped, only 25 questions. Each question is very long and multiple choice options very long, so test can take a while and can be confusing. The questions are tricky. Really nice teacher, funny!I would recommend this teacher!
HARD TO STAY AWAKE IN. TESTS ARE MULTIPLE CHOICE, HOWEVER NOT REALLY IN HIS NOTES. IF U MISS SOMETHING IN HIS LECTURE, U MAY MISS THE QUESTIONS. TEST QUESTIONS ARE NOT STRAIGHT FORWARD. GIVES LIKE 3 RIGHT ANSWER, BUT U GOTTA CHOOSE THE ONE THAT IS RIGHT"ER". HE DOES HELP YA IF U FAIL OR HE SEES A PATTERN THO. WISH THERE WAS STUDY GUIDE FOR TEST
His class is really easy! I dont like history but history for Mass Media is different! He definitely knows his stuff! His exams are open notes, and really easy if you go to all the lectures. He provides a review to prepare your notes ahead of time. He really is a goof professor and obviously passionate about what he does. Very Smart too!
No textbook, so exams are 100% lecture based which means GO TO CLASS. He takes attendance and will deduct if you miss too many classes. Exams are open note and he gives reviews. Choose the answers that are the MOST correct choice. Very willing to help students! Will usually curve your grade depending on your situation.
Makes history bearable. You really need to come to class to get the notes. If you understand what he's saying in class you'll make A's. He's a funny professor and really knows what he's talking about.
Yeah I don't know what to say about him except that he is really really boring. Sorry but I did not think he was funny at all. He always says how excited he is about what he teaches, yet his lectures lack any kind of enthusiasm. His tests are really ridiculous. All answers are correct and you have to pick the one that is MOST correct. Seriously?
You can tell he really loves teaching. There can be a few dull moments every now and then, but he's usually pretty live and funny. His tests are easy if you take notes in class. I definitely recommend him.
This man is quiet the character! He has an interesting sense of humor and his lectures are hard to follow due to him constantly getting side tracked. The tests are open note but when all the answers are right and you just have to pick the best one it can be hard to make an A in the class. Make friends and sit together during the tests, it will help
I absolutely loved this class. Grimes is very intelligent and his tests are open notes and very easy if you do go to class. Attendance is not mandatory, but I went anyway because it was interesting. Absolutley love this professor. No book required either which is always a plus. :)
Very intelligent, and very good class, it is best to take History of Mass Media prior to this class, it is a lot of the same information, but not required. Second Best Mass Communication professor I have had at Texas State
Professor Grimes really enjoys learning and teaching and it shows through his classes. It is always nice to have a professor that seems to enjoy their job. He made me enjoy writing much more than when the class started and I feel like my writing improved greatly. He has a lot of wisdom and knowledge to share.
He is a great professor. Can get off topic at times but still teaches the material very well. Just take good notes, go to class, and print off his notes and you will be definitely get a B or higher. Does not believe in textbooks so it saves you some money.
I have him for Advertising & I love this class! Definitely 1 of my favorite teachers. He's funny & class is never boring. Understands ppl have lives & r busy so he gets straight to the point in his lectures & tells u the important stuff. Don't have to buy textbook, he doesn't use it, types up his own lectures & puts online, & all tests r open note.
I <3 Mr. Porcupine Quill Grimes; best MC teacher @TXST! Very interesting person, great sense of humor, well organized lectures, NOT arrogant or pretentious like some other MC teachers @ TXST. Tests are open notes, but answers do tend to be quite similar. Show up & pay attention or he won't send his notes.
He's a cool dude, but his class is a little boring. He also talks in circles and its hard to understand what he's talking about. But he has open note tests so it kinda makes it better
Grimes is seriously the best professor I've had! I never missed a class because he is so interesting in the way he lectures you just want to go and his lectures are interesting so you remember it all. Lets you use your notes during exams, so that's awesome. He is so hilarious and upbeat all the time. If test grades are hard, he gives curves!
He is the best lectures are boring but i didnt pay attention and got 100's on two of the tests and 94's on the other two! He loves what he does and if you show the slightest intrest he will love you! He is the best professor i have had at texad state and i am going to take him again i wish he taught all the advertising classes
LOVED this class. Not only are Grimes' lectures super interesting, but they're actually fun! Prepare to take ALOT of notes, because there is no text book in his class. Tests are all open notes, and attendance is optional (you don't want to miss though). I made a 97 on 3 of his tests, and there is no final. Take him!
Topic is interesting but he's pretty boring to listen to. Hard to follow, jumps around a lot and you end up getting lost. Test are open note but they aren't straight forward so it ends up confusing you even more.
Grimes is the man, open note tests and he almost always lets you out early. Printed lecture notes and no textbook.
He honestly, really cares about his students and wants them to learn and succeed. If you make a genuine effort and keep up with the class you will pass.
Tom Grimes is a great professor. You will get an A if you go to class and record his review lectures. He gives so much useful information in the reviews! Do reviews and go to class!! such a sweet man!
He's a cool, funny guy and the tests are open notes. Nuff said.
His tests are open note... seriously, take him.
A very nice man. You can use notes for tests. He can be very entertaining.
His class was so interesting I never skipped the class. His class is easy to remember as he explains everything in a simple manner. Can use your notes during exam. Show up to his class, recordwrite whatever he says and you will pass his exams. Easy A. No extra credits, no book required.
His class was so easy, 4 tests, you can use your notes and the lecture notes he adds to tracs... He's a funny guy I went to every class and made an easy A! He also said if you never skip a class you will get an A.. And I had an 88 and he gave me an A, he's really cool!!
All tests are open note. If you don't come to class, you won't get the notes. He posts his lecture outlines on TRACS, but exams ask questions that you would only know if you attended lecture. Exams are very easy! His lectures skip around a lot, so write everything down to make sense of them. He's funny in an adorable way. Love his class!! :)
I took grimes for Mass Comm history and Advertising and he was hilarious. The test weren't hard my any means. Just show up (only lectures for an hour) listen and take the test. They are stupid easy.
I took Grimes for History of Mass Media and Advertising and it was super easy. He gives you 4 tests and no final. What I do suggest is attend class for his lectures because he doesn't put them on TRACS since people skip. Also the tests are all open notes!
Great professor. If you don't do well on a test, go in and visit. He'll most likely help you out. I took 3 classes with him. Every class requires the same amount of effort- show up, take notes, four tests, study. I ended up attending class w/out a notebook because most of his lectures tie in together from previous classes I've attended.
His lectures are a little boring, but attendance isn't mandatory. His tests are all open note and multiple choice, so that rocks. This class is so easy. He really wants you to succeed. Definitely take him if you need this course! He is probably one of the easiest professors I've ever had.
If you want an A, take with this professor. He is really helpful and wants everyone to get good grades. Exams are easy and you don't have to struggle too hard for get high marks. One word: Awesome!
Professor Grimes is an amazing professor. He knows what to teach and keeps class entertaining. Tests are a little confusing, but it's open book so you won't have any trouble. He is always there to help you with questions and makes it easy to understand. This was my last semester and I wish I had taken more classes with him to get an A.
Professor Grimes is the best professor I've had in all of the classes I've taken. He is very knowledgeable about the subjects he teaches. Genuinely wants his students to pass the class. Lecture notes are given and can use on tests if students show up to class. Take notes during his lectures and you will be fine. Definitely taking him again in fall
Super funny, knowledgeable, and enjoyable teacher. He has a very dry sense of humor that makes his lectures entertaining while not being fluff. No book necessary, but you need to attend class or fail. Tests are open book. I didn't even take notes, just listened and did the reviews in class. First test I got a 94.
Hilarious older professor. Easy tests, short lectures, straight to the point.
This dude is literally so dope! The lectures are fairly interesting and there is no textbook, because "he lived it." I would defnitely recommend Grimes to anyone, and if you're a mass comm student he will make you love and appreciate your major even more. One of the top profs at Texas State.
I have taken Grimes for both Advertising and History of Mass Comm. Got an A in both. First he will put lecture notes online, but if class attendance dwindles he will stop. So PARTICIPATION MATTERS. His classes are lecture heavy but he makes up for it by giving test reviews if he is happy with attendance :)
Professor Grimes is easily one of the best professors I've had. Graded only by 4 tests, all lecture-based. He posts lectures online and gives out a test review if attendance is good, so show up! Easiest A I've ever received. I would highly recommend.
Tom Grimes is a great professor. All the tests are open-note. His lectures only last an hour instead of an hour and twenty minutes.
I love this prof. I enjoyed every day of this class never once did I dread going. He is very knowledgeable and uses his lecture time wisely. His test are based on how you apply the knowledge he provides. I loved his class so much I'm taking him again. It's hard to find teachers as passionate and awesome as he is.
Two words: Take him.
Grimes is a true intellect. He is witty and will have you laughing every lecture. He is very knowledgeable and that shows in his lectures. If you actually pay attention you can learn a lot from this guy. His tests are a bit wordy but they are open book/note so there is no reason why you should not pass.
Professor Grimes is a cool teacher. He's very animated, looks like a cartoon character. Lets you use lecture notes and anything you want for exams but makes exams tough. He does NOT go by the textbook.
This guy is awesome. He really knows what he's talking about and make his material extremely easy to understand. He'll let you use your notes during his tests and doesn't require books. It definitely is an easy A but lectures are a real treat as well.
As long as you come to class, you will pass. He lets you use your notes on all the tests, and his tests come straight from the notes! He is super funny and quirky! I'd definitely take him again!
Absolutely fascinating professor. He knows something about everything. Lectures are engaging and entertaining. Pay attention! All the tests come straight from the lectures. Tests are open book/note.
Attendance is mandatory. DO NOT SKIP. If you go to class and take good notes there is no doubt that you will pass the exams with flying colors. There are only 4 tests and that is the only grades in the course. He post lecture notes on TRACS take notes on those for the exams since they are open note.
Seriously easy elective lets you use notes laptops whatever on every test show up for attendance he's a really fun older man tries to make class enjoyable is actually funny
Professor Grimes is by far my favorite professor at TXST and now I am signing up for 2 more of his classes! You don't need a book. His class is based purely on lecture which he posts online for you. There are 4 tests all of which are open note. Attendance is required but he makes you look forward to his class. Best professor on campus!
If you are looking for a MC elective I would 10/10 recommend his MC History 4302 class. It was surprisingly very interesting and I honestly think it has helped me in my other classes. You can even use notes on the tests. Grimes is a great professor, very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. Ive learned SO much in his class.
Super cool guy and he is really really smart! Listening to him is really easy and he makes his lectures interesting, but attendance is not necessary. He has 4 tests all year and those are the only grades of the semester, so you have to do well but he gives you a GREAT review!
I highly recommend Professor Grimes. Hes funny and lets you use notes on his tests.
Dr. Grimes WANTS his students to do well and will ensure to provide any help necessary to get you that A. His tests are open note, which is always a plus. He is humorous and a professor that doesn't make you waste time on subject topics that don't matter. He also dismisses class early more often than not. Take him if you can, he's a great prof!
Take him if you get the opportunity! He's cool and actually cares about what he's teaching and his students. Open note tests so attendance is mandatory. I wish all professors that teach heavy material tests could be like Grimes, you won't regret it and it'll def help your GPA if you need it :)
Grimes is super nice but kind of scatter brained. All tests you can use notes on paper and computer! No textbook at all! No final!
Dr. Grimes is truly a great professor and his class is so fun! He gives fun lectures and allows laptop use during class and through the tests. All exams are open note and no final. He's hilarious which makes learning even better.
Dr. Grimes's lectures can be hard to follow but he posts all his lecture notes to TRACS. There's 4 tests that are OPEN NOTE, OPEN BOOK, OPEN LAPTOP TESTS. No papers, hw, quizzes, etc. Only keeps us in class for an hour. He goes on random rants and rabbit holes during class, kind of all over the place but overall a solid choice w/ little to no work.
He lets you used note son the exam so its and easy A the lowest you could get is a B if you actually try
Grimes makes intro to mass plain and simple. Tests are completely open note- print out & bring in his lecture notes posted on tracs because everything on those notes are exactly whats on the test. The only grades are the tests so take your time and read through each answer carefully. Just pick the more common sense answer. you'll know what i mean.
Great prof. Just make sure to show up and the tests will be an easy A.
I took both Grime's Theories of MC and History of Mass Media and loved both. He tries really hard to make the classes interesting and enjoyable. Show up, pay attention, and do decent on exams (which are open note) and you'll do great! I'd definitely take him again :)
He goes out of his way to make his class easy so you can focus on your other classes e.g. we didn't have a final. There were only 4 tests and they're open note. He told us if we make less than a C it's completely on us. Take him!
favorite professor I have taken within the school of mass comm so far, Grimes is awesome! Lots of fun stories and he tries to make it interesting.
If you don't like advertising you won't like him. But if you're actually interested in what you're learning and don't snapchat the whole class, he's awesome. Hilarious. Tells good stories. You'll learn some cool things. I took him for three classes.
His lectures are so interesting and entertaining, and I genuinely feel like I've learned a lot from him. Only grades are exams, and while the questions can be hard at times, he allows use of all notes you have. You really don't need to do anything outside of class. Overall, he's super funny, reasonable, and one of the best at TXST! Take him!!
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR EVER. He is the most kind person and if you go to his office hours he will help you with anything. If you take notes you will make easy 100's on the 4 test. Test are all open notes and laptops.
Tom is one of the funniest professors ever. He is super understanding. 4 tests and they are all open book/note/web. I'm taking him during the pandemic so things are kind of crazy now but he has stayed consistent. Overall great guy and you should take him if you can.
Professor Grimes is by far one of my favorite professors at Texas State! my class wasn't mandatory, but showing up gave you good benefits. we only have test in his class which he makes very straightforward and understandable. my Roommate had Grimes before me and actually recommended I took him. hes one of the most understandable Profs I've had!
He starts off by saying he doesn't believe in textbooks and SPOILER, he'll likely drop the fact that he interviewed Rosa Parks randomly in a lecture. He may seem all over the place but you can learn so much from him. Highly recommend taking his class, literally one of my absolute favorite professors. (super easy class btw)
Took him during the pandemic. Very easy going lectures, no textbook and all tests are open notes. He transcribed all of the lectures for us so the lectures are basically for your own pleasure. Tests are on Fridays and you have all day long to do them at your own pace. Attendance is also not mandatory. Best prof at TXST
I took Grimes during the pandemic and he was awesome. Posted Zoom lectures on TRACS and was super easy to reach. He writes his own notes and uploads them to TRACS as well. There is only 4 grades in the class and they're all exams. It should be fairly easy as long as you watch the lectures and have a copy of his notes and write some of your own.
Tom Grimes is so funny and very knowledgeable. He brings in old artifacts from time to time. His class is super easy. There is no textbook, 4 tests based on his lectures, which he provides the notes for his lectures (you may have to add a bit more during lecture). You can use your notes during the exam.
Only 4 tests make up your entire grade. Even though they're open book, they're still pretty tough. He curves all the tests, but there's always one person who happened to make a 100. He's a good guy, but it's not a super easy course.
Professor Grimes made class very entertaining with all his real life examples and stories. Because he worked as a news reporter in the 80s, he really knows the ins and outs of Journalism and has a true passion for the course. I will definitely miss the stories and insight he had to share! Very easy class as well, no homework.
TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASS! GREAT TEACHER!
Tom Grimes is such an awesome guy! Super kind, funny, and really understands the media. His class is pretty easy, it only consists of four exams. The exams can be difficult at times, but that's all you have the whole semester. Never showed up to class and received an A. Take it!
This class was super easy and had an A all semester until the final. He grades only on tests and requires no other work. If you're a good test taker this class is for you! However, I don't feel like I learned much. He is super passionate but really hard to follow during lectures. He Made no sense most of the time even tho the material is easy.
I took him fully online but I think he struggled teaching. I've heard great things about him as an in person course. His class was ok, test were very wordy but he allows you to use notes which helps ALOT. He is very professional but I would give him another shot but as an in person course!
Grimes only gives 3 or 4 tests and rounds up everyone's grade at least 20 points, the first test i got a 66 then it magically changed to an 88. Second, got a 50 and it made to an 86, 3rd got a 43 and it changed to an 80. He knows this stuff is a bit hard to comprehend and it very understanding. Don't sweat his class too much!!! Great guy
Prof Grimes is very a very cool and fun guy! He lectures then gives tests. There were 4 tests. Theyre not easy, but he curves our grades. Impossible to fail. Extremely easy B. But to get an A you have to put effort. I finished with an A after spending hours studying. I repeat the tests are not super easy. But very doable! Take his course! :)
I took MC1301 with Professor Grimes Fall 2021 and it was not mandatory and open note pretty much solely due to COVID. The professor got distracted easily and went on a few tangents during lectures but still stayed pretty on topic. The order of the information doesn't make that much sense. He posted the notes online; my grade was 4 tests, no final.
Professor Grimes really loves what he does. When he gives lectures he tells them like a story which keeps it entertaining. He was also very understanding about COVID-19 and took great precautions like online tests, no mandatory attendance, and letting tests be open not just in case you had to miss a few classes.
He's super wordy, he made the tests wordy too, and told us not to contact him about not understanding a question bc if it was wrong, all of the students would get it wrong and he'd notice. The only grades were 4 tests, and you *need* to go to the lectures to understand what they're asking. But he's a funny teacher and clearly enjoys the subject.
He was super energetic and funny. All exams were open book and there was no homework, quizzes or book assignments. Theres a total of 4 exams and thats it
He was a really good lecturer. For an intro class, I feel like I learned so much! The only assignments we had were a few tests, but his reviews always helped prepare us well for them. He makes his material easy to understand and fun to listen to. If you need to take this class, take his! It's a class you that won't stress you out!
Grimes is amazing, caring, and low key kinda funny. 4 test only. No homework. The test are not hard, nor timed, nor proctored. Look at his notes and rewatch his lectures the day of the test. He curves grades, i've gotten a 100 3/4 times. Love this guy. Ive taken him three times, all of this classes are like this!! Take him!!
I'm all for easy classes, but if this is a class you're wanting to be in to actually learn something, I recommend a different professor. Grimes is an easy A if you do what he says, but is a terrible person when it comes to teaching and is extremely unprofessional. Questions on the exams are weirdly worded, but you can use notes with the exams.
If I could take Prof Grimes for every class, I would. This has definitely been the most fun and enriching class I have ever taken. I was excited to attend each lecture and took a lot away from the course. If you attend lecture and take notes, you are sure to pass his four tests with flying colors. Highly recommend Professor Grimes!
Grimes is an entertaining lecturer, and is clearly passionate about what he teaches. I always have a great time in his class, and he covers the material well for the tests. The only grades are 4 tests, so GO TO LECTURE AND TAKE NOTES!! He provides his lecture notes online, but those won't always get you full credit. All test are open note too!
only went to class my first week yet I finished with an A. Grade is determined by 4 tests that are split through the semester which are his only grades.Tests are open note, notes are posted online. Class isnt attend mandatory. Few times I did go to his class he was nice, funny, and a good professor I just dont like waking up early. DEF RECOMMEND.
SO SO SO sweet. Went to class probably 2 times but passed with an A. He is so devoted to the subject and knowledgable in so many fields. Take him!
All material on the test is in the notes he gives out and is covered in lecture.
Such a sweet professor. Attendance isn't mandatory but going to lectures will help with tests since he goes over his notes in class. He's really passionate about his courses and it inspires you to want to learn more with him. I'm taking him again because he has a great way of explaining the course. The only grades are the four tests.
He was very sweet and he knows a lot about the subject matter. His lectures were a little boring but attendance isn't mandatory and he posts all the notes online to use on tests. The only grades are 4 tests but they're super easy even if you don't go to class. Would recommend.
Professor Grimes was amazing. I loved taking his class. His class was lecture heavy but he did post the notes he was using at the end of the week. He tries to make the history very interesting and funny. I would gladly take this professor again.
Tom Grimes is a decent professor. There are a total of 4 exams throughout the semester, including the final, they are the only grades, and they are all open note. You can use notes you took or the notes he provides in canvas. He sometimes makes jokes no one understands and lecture is often boring. Still a good professor and I would take him again!
His lectures can be long and boring but the tests are super easy. I would recommend this class and the professor. He is really sweet and caring and cares about his students. The only grades are 4 tests taken throughout the semester.
easiest class I have ever taken. The lectures are cool if you care about the subject, but if not the tests were over notes that were published to online so its fine.
I loved this professor! He is so sweet, and you do not have to go to class to do well, but he does care about the subject, so if you do go its interesting. Your grade is only 4 tests, so don't miss any, they're very straightforward and online. He also does give a little extra credit, just be on the lookout!
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! cant stress enough how easy and stress free this class was. only graded by 4 tests which are ll online. he also sends slides out before the test with every single answer that is on the tests. attendance not required and offered some extra cred outside of class. take this prof if you want stress free and easy clss
Very engaging and there was no attendance. All tests were short and easy and he was very funny and helpful.
Professor Grimes' class is a good mix of challenging and engaging. Attendance is key, as his lectures break down the material well. For study prep, I found unstuck ai and the provided notes to be super helpful supplements. Overall, a rewarding class if you put in the effort.
I took Mass Media & Society, but I'm not sure why I didn't enjoy the class. I had a hard time understanding the material. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but I recommend studying before the exams. There were only four exams throughout the semester, all of which were online and not proctored. Overall, the professor was very nice.
He makes mass comm so interesting, and I enjoyed going to class. Attendance doesn't matter and he ended class early. He wants his students to understand mass comm so he explains his notes in different ways. The lectures go over his notes that he posts for the tests, and he gives us all day to take the test.
Grimes is an excellent professor who is heavy on lectures, but enhances them with real-life examples and humor. The only assignments are four tests based on these lectures. While lecture materials are available on Canvas, attending class is crucial, as some in class topics/discussions will be on the tests.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Your grade is based on 4 online open-note exams, and he uploads the course notes to his files with all the material he teaches. The course is easy, and he's a really great guy! Please go to his lectures, he's funny and makes the subject really interesting! You can tell he's super passionate! :)
Super nice professor, however, he's a little boring. Would take again though!
Enjoyable lectures, only 4 tests/assignments the entire semester, all of which were taken online and away from class, no final, and he almost always released class early by at least 45 minutes.
