Tom makes this class fun!
Easy class if you take your tests on time.
The best acting instructor. I plan on taking 4 more courses w/ him
Great teacher; take good notes and use plenty of examples on tests.
awesome class, awesome teacher. TOM RULES
he makes this class fun, and the hour goes by quick! good teacher!
really fun class
Tom is the coolest. Great class. I now like theater!
Fun teacher and a fun class! The test can be tricky if you don't prepare but you get the exact questions a week ahead of time so it's hard not to do well. Even the final exam was a take home.
He knows his **** and knows how to teach it well. Always willing to help and isn't afraid to tell you his honest opinion of your acting ability. He's a very cool kid!
Tom's cool, the volunteer hours are actually kindof fun to do...there are good people in the scene shop. He gives you the questions for the test in advance...word for word.
Awesome Guy!
Tom is great. Would love to work with him again, as a director or a teacher. Very level headed, great sense of humor. Understanding. Great theater teacher.

Tom is awesome. Very down to Earth and great sense of humor. He wants you to do well in the class. Gives you all tests and papers way ahead of time!
Tom is the man, if you have any room on your schedule and even a passing interest in theatre, take one of his courses.
Quite possibly the most intelligent man I've ever met. After 40 minutes of working a scene with Tom I couldn't believe the progress I had made. He is very insightful into the happenings of a scene and helping you understand your character. He has high expectations for scenes so come to class with LINES MEMORIZED. Take any course tought by this man
only thing that makes this class difficult is finding time in your busy day to put in theatre hours but other than that the class is stress free and fun. but again, the hours, good luck with that
Tom is a horrible man! He thinks he is a christian but he swears all the time, hes not a good role model, he is not a good teacher, coach, or school employee...he is very mean and yells a lot, i feel bad for his softball team. he is not a good teacher and i did NOT enjoy spending time with him or enjoy his class...
Tom Kaechele is a god when it comes to theatre. The best thing is that he is not conceded about it and is willing to go the extra mile to help all his students. I have never felt so supported by one professor. He knows his**** and how to teach it (not just lecture). He makes the class something to look forward to. TAKE ANY CLASS HE TEACHES!! -BI
ONLY HARD THING FINDING TIME FOR HOURS BUT IF YOU SEE EXTRA PLAYS YOU GET 3 HOURS FOR EACH ONE AND IF YOU DO A CRITIC ON THE PLAYS YOU HAVE SEEN YOU GET 2 HOURS SO THAT IS THE GOOD THING HE LETS YOU ASK HIM ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EXAM AND IS VERY HELPFUL TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE QUESTIONS ARE TAKE HOME RECOMMENDED
This class isn't as fun as you expect it to be. It kind of sucks. Tom isn't a bad professor, he's funny in a dark sense of humor way. Either you hate him, or you love him. Good luck.
He is a very funny guy! And really nice, too. But I hated the class. Way too much outside work. Watching 4 productions, plus 20 hours of work.
Makes the class very interesting and enjoyable. Great sense of humor. Extremely helpful.
Tom is my most favorite teacher... his passion and dedication are amazing. He demands a lot, but it is so worth it.
Don't buy the book. You'll never use it. Easy, easy class...as long as you do all of your work. He gives you all the answers to the tests...just memorize them.Lots of outside work, but, I enjoyed it. As far as Tom as a teacher, he has a wierd since of humor(just laugh and nod your head a lot) You'll either love him or hate him.
best cless in the world!
I loved this class! I looked forward to it the most everyday. It was fun, and Tom is hilarious. He has some really funny and interesting stories as well. The class is easy but you have to do 20 hours of helping in the shop, but it is actually really fun. I would recommend this class and teacher to anyone.
Great class. I had no interest in theater before but Tom made me love it! It is a hard class, but it was really fun and I enjoyed it ALOT!
This is a great class! Tom is very helpful and makes this class very fun. Even if you have no interest in theatre he makes it interesting. He gives out the questions to the test beforehand so you have time to study up,. :) If you need this class for a transfer, or a filler, TAKE IT! Must see 4 plays and put in 20 hrs in shop.
Tom's a really cool and funny guy. Don't let him intimidate you, he doesn't mean harm. Listen and take notes during class. Tests are slightly difficult considering the class itself is so easy, and the exam is all take home which was nice. You do have to do service learning hours too so be prepared to work!
Tom's improv class was the best! He's funny, nice, and overall a great instructor. I would highly recommend that you take any theater course with him.
He is such a good teacher. He tells you exactly what to expect on his tests so pretty much all you have to do is show up, take notes, and then study them. He's really funny and makes the class interesting.
Tom is awesome! very funny and makes theater fun! i hated the thought of play's and theater but he made it interesting.
Tom is a great prof. I would definitely recommend TH 248 for completing your MACRAO. Class is easy. The only caveat is that you need to do 20 hours of volunteering for the theater and see 4 plays. There are also tests. He will teach you how to also act and interview for a job.
COOLEST GUY I'VE EVER MET IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!
Tom is a great human being who is dedicated to the Arts..He is not a game player but makes the subject matter fun...Respect him and the material and He'll respect you back with an A..He is a wealth of knowledge very helpful and doesnt see color. Take him if you want to learn..He will make you do your part but shouldnt you be doing that anyways
I really enjoyed Tom as a teacher. He was very funny and kept my interest during lecture. I had no interest in theater before this class, but now I'm a junky. The service hours suck, get them done early. Tests are all essay questions, but he gives you every answer in class.
This was probably the most enjoyable class I have taken/will take. Tom is extremely funny, and made this class so much fun. Not only did I look forward to it everyday, but the plays we were 'required' to see, were fun and enjoyable as well. You won't find a better teacher, and you won't have more fun in a class at GRCC. Recommend taking this class.
Great guy, knows his stuff, hilarious, knowledgeable, prepares you for every test, final is a take home. He is sarcastic and dark and loves a chatty class. He wants you to be creative and explore different things. He is my favorite professor by far and I plan to take more classes with him, regardless of topic.
Good teacher, you could tell he has been teaching this class for awhile. I never had to even open the book. The tests, which are very easy to pass, are from the notes. He makes sure you are prepared for the test and will make sure all of your questions are answered before the test. A lot of opportunity for extra credit.
Coolest guy ever! Loved this class, it was really fun. His lectures are interesting and he tells lots of hilarious stories. All of the tests are all essay questions, but he gives you all the questions ahead of time so it's easy to do well. He is also very helpful if you have any questions. Seeing 4 plays and 20 hrs community service are required.
This guy was awesome! He is very enthusiastic about teaching the class and he's hilarious. As long as you participate in his credit hours outside of class and assignments you will do just fine. But have fun while your at it.
Tom is cute because he is hilarious! He knows how to keep a class interested and it's clear he know's what he's talking about. He's an awesome professor!
Tom is a great teacher. He keeps you interested in the material and explains everything thoroughly. His only weakness is email. If you need a question answered, talk to him in person. He doesn't communicate we'll over email. You will be lucky to get a two word reply. That said, he is one of the best teachers I've ever had.
He is a very real professor. Does not just give you a lecture. he actually tries and helps you understand the material. He is still very active in local theatre's, so you know he is still very passionate about what he teaches and it really shows in class. I loved both classes I had with him!
Awesome storyteller!
This is the ABSOLUTE best professor anyone will ever have. Ever. His love for the theatre is obvious and will rub off on you. He is very cool and laid back and is also hilarious. Tom is dedicated, hard working in the theatre, all with an outstanding knowledge of his crafts. Every class he teaches in interesting and informative. Tom is THE man.
This guy is one of the highest quality teachers I've had at GRCC. He is still directing and so he is still in tune and interested in every aspect of what he is teaching. He gets to know you pretty well and values all inputs. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. He gives you all the answers to the tests, but be ready to answer them still with thought.
Tom is GREAT! I took Intro to Theater for a Humanities course. Not what I expected but had a good time. Tom has great passion for theater, and can keep you interested throughout the class. He is funny, engaging, and wants to instill his passions to others. I enjoyed every day of this class. Participation and attendence is a must for an A.
Tom is an amazing teacher. He really has a passion to help his students succeed. He's fun, interesting, and combines a really good mix of teaching techniques making it easy for anyone to learn! If you are willing to do what it takes to succeed, you will have little to no issues. I highly recommend Tom.
Be active and you'll be rewarded, not just with a grade, but with a wonderful experience. The class becomes a family if you're really blessed.
Such an awesome person!!! Really laid back! Had to take this class and when my grades were wrong he change it even when the class was finish (but finish the class in 10 weeks).
He was awesome! One of the best and most understanding instructors I've ever had. Although I only had him online, he is truelly very into what he does and it shows. He gives good feedback and is also willing to work with you if you directly communicate with him. His responses always seemed to be heart felt and he responded in a timely manner.
Watch the 4 plays and do the 20 hours of theater serious. Tom is funny and so is the class. Make sure you take notes.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Easy A class of you take him. He gives you the questions on tests before hand and doesn't let you leave without knowing all the answers. Just study and get an A on the test. Super funny in class with examples. Even if you are not "into" theater you will not dread this class. He even posts lecture notes on BB if you missed!
Hilarious instructor. The assignments are not too difficult. Beware that this class requires that you see 2-4 live shows over the semester as well as doing 20 hours of service work for a theatre. Overall, the class was easy, but the service learning was a real pain.
Took the online class, great lectures, do the work can't go wrong. 15-20 hours working required for the class online do them. Solid Professor
Awesome Professor! Extremely passionate about theatre, also very sarcastic. If you don't like theatre, don't take this class. Expect to do at least 20 service hours for each semester of class. The hours go by quick if you enjoy this kind of stuff, though. Tests are super easy if you study; he tells you exactly what questions will be on the test.
I had Tom as my professor for Intro To Theatre. The guy is hilarious, and always adds stories to his lectures to make them interesting. Attendance is really important as your notes are going to be really helpful in studying for the tests which are REALLY in-depth. This class has no homework but you have to do 20 service hours. DONT PROCRASTINATE.
He is super funny! I recommend him to everyone! Clearly very passionate about what he does! You have to love a teacher who loves their job!
Tom is amazing. I took this class online and he's super understanding and accepts late work. I learned a lot from this class. Just so you know, to pass the class, you need to have 20 service hours (Help at theater shops, with tickets, etc.) and you have to see shows (in person or online. He provides some for you).
I love him. Great guy.
Tom is just great. VERY hilarious, tons of awesome stories (that relate to theatre and are interesting), and so passionate about what he does. He genuinely cares about his students success. I would take his classes again, and Im not even really that into theatre (although he made me see it in a different light). Take any class you can with Tom!
Tom makes it completely possible to get an A in his class. Take your notes, pay attention and even if you don't pay attention, he goes over every question on the test for review. If you don't have time to do the volunteer hours or go watch plays, this class may not be for you. They are a big part of your grade. Probably the best softball coach.
Tom is the best professor I have had yet. He is so funny and caring and he genuinely wants us to succeed. I am so happy I took his class!
His humorous anecdotes and amusing lectures made this class something special. He took a subject that people may not be interested in and made it enchanting. He is a funny and all around great guy.
Amazing class, hilarious professor, do the work, take notes, and everything will be fine.
A very good class to take at grcc! Im super thankful that I got to learn things about theatre and I know that everything I learned from his class will apply to when I watch a production.
Tom my man! I loved this class thanks to him. He was so helpful outside of class, gave extra credit for making study groups outside of class, and told the best stories. I cried from laughing in his class so many times, and the stories were all relevant and helped me understand and remember the material.
Professor was great! Gave extra credit and gave great feedback. He also had good lectures and very flexible.
Tom is great! I've never had a theater class in my life so this was all new to me. It was fun! It was online so I had to watch 2 live performances and at least 4 online performances to meet the requirements. Tom's videos are hilarious. You can work at your own pace, just don't fall too far behind. Work ahead and you get extra points!
Professor Kaechele was a great online professor. As long as you do the work and participate in discussion boards you will do fine. Only thing that I did not like is that I took this class online because I also work full time and you need to do service hours which is not possible when you work full time and go to school full time
Tom is an awesome professor! I took his class online and there is a bit more work than one would expect from an online class (seeing live shows and completing 20 service hours) but they are very much worth it. His class is very well laid out and easy to follow in BB. Do the work, stay on top of it, and the class will be a breeze.
I loved having Prof. K. for TH!! I took this class online and accelerated over the summer. There is a lot of HW but he is super organized and generous with corrections. He made the class enjoyable and fun. He was very present in feedback, discussion posts and email. Very clear with his expectations and simple to pass.
For an online option, I was surprised how engaging the professor was able to be with the topic. He is well-organized, clear on expectations, gives a big heads up on papers (of which there are five big ones) and you'll be watching plenty of shows online. Also allows for revisions to assignments/grades.
Probably the easiest class I have taken so far. You will have to dedicate a lot of time to watch productions and write papers, but it really isn't bad. If you get anything incorrect on an assignment, he will give you comments and sometimes allow you to correct and re-submit. He very passionate about his job and funny too. Definitely recommend!
Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Very laid back (I once wrote an unformatted essay filled with jokes and gaming references. Still got a 100%). As long as you actually watch the productions and take light notes, you'll be completely fine. Incredibly understanding, caring, and funny. Responds to emails quickly, and often enjoys humor.
Super laid back, but gives amazing feedback on the work you do. I love that if you dont do well on an assignment, he gives you feedback and a chance to fix your work. It really helps you truly understand the content and become a better student.
I had Professor Kaechele for Introduction to theater online. Despite it being online I was able to have a fun and wonderful class. You can really tell he cares about his students by how much he engages with us. We had several papers and discussion boards. There was a free textbook available. I'm sure this would have been amazing to take in person!
Professor Tom is super helpful and wants students to do well. But he wants them to work. He pushes you to think critically so you will have to put it in some work to do well. He is a tough grader and wants very specific answers. He does provide resources to do well. The class has very few points. The final is take home but its alot of writing.
He was a good professor, but he didn't seem like he cared about you that much just wanted the work done. He was very laid back and the work was easy.
Fair amount of work for this course. He was so funny and gave you the opportunity to fix anything wrong for the chance at a better grade. He also expects you to work for your grade. Be sure to put in the time and effort for this course and you will do just fine.
Your only grades will be your tests. DO NOT worry he literally gives you all of the test questions before hand and also the answers the class before the test. He is so laid back and absolutely hilarious! He does want specific answers but again he literally givesthem to you
This professor was okay. He was very timely and got my grades back to me quickly, but also graded tough. The only feedback he ever gave was usually negative unless it was perfect. He had so many essays and that was annoying.
His class was easy and the notes he gave were helpful for tests. The tests were a bit difficult, but studying and having his notes help. There were plenty of opportunities for extra credit. However, he tried to be funny, but it came off as rude. He did a lot of cold calling as well so pay attention even if the lectures are mundane.
Very easy going and very funny! He always gave me good feedback for my assignments and was always easy to reach out whenever I had any questions or concerns. Lots of writing, but as long as you try your best you'll be fine.
Tom is a really funny guy, and a great professor.
The professor only has a couple assignments to do but they are a lot of work but they can mostly be avoided by doing hours of work helping out for theater groups
I took improv, which is a naturally easier class, so I don't know how he is in a more formal academic setting, but he was great when I had him. He was a little intimidating at first, definitely not the average theater kid, but he opened up soon enough. He always seemed to enjoy being with and guiding us, and I feel we all grew closer because of him
Super funny, was really easy to talk to and get along with. Easy class to take if you pay attention or study a little.
I really enjoyed Tom as a professor. He was funny during his lectures and keep me active during them. He swears a little bit but does not overdue it and uses it in ways that are funny. He is clear with the test study guides and he basically gives you the answers for the test before them. He is an extreme W
This class calls for a lot of memorization, but, be aware for the end of exam time for him to not answer any questions. I felt personally whatever questions I asked, they weren't good enough. The lectures were pretty scattered, and even going from the power point, it still got marked down on my final. Pretty OK prof.
Professor Kaechele is engaging and wants students to succeed, but the class requires consistent effort. The free textbook and unstuck ai were helpful study tools. Overall, a fair but demanding course.
He was a very nice guy and he would let you change things to resubmit for a better grade. His feedback was usually helpful, but sometimes it was more confusing than helpful. He has three 2,000 word essays that you have to do, OR you can do 5 hours service instead by volunteering for theater. You need 5 hours for each of the three papers, 15 hours.
He's a very good guy and he is an average grader. Be ready to memorize everything that you can remember in the plays. Final exam, be ready and make sure you do it months before it is due.
The only feedback he ever gives is negative. Nothing is ever good enough. He assigns you so many essays (2000+ word), and if you don't want to do those, you have to do 5+ hours of volunteer work for a production. Too much is expected for a gen ed class, most take just for the credit lol. Do not recommend. Especially theater.
Very test heavy, lots of memorization.
