hard teacher, expects a lot, requires a lot of work.
Yeah he assigns alot of essays, however he is very easy when it comes to the grading.
This guy is rabidly liberal and teaches revisionist American history. He assigns tons of long essays, and his incoherent lectures ramble on forever about his wacky leftist take on the founding of this country.
If you are a bright, quick learner, want to be engaged in a subject, and want a quality, thorough knowledge of history, take Mazurek. If you're not so bright, take a different professor, or else you will not be impressed.
Great teacher. A little off at times. But very good, Pushes you to be a better student
Good teacher but I couldn't tell til the end of the semester. Comes on really harsh but in the end you know the stuff. Took me months to warm up to him.
condescending toward students. Ignorant and blames his students for the time "they waste", when really he just rambles and has no point to his lectures. Speech impediment (Elmer Fudd) makes it hard to understand him. Needs bigger pants!
cant understand a word he says, rambles on about nothing. he has no respect for his students, he just throws papers at you doesnt take the time to actually hand them to you
Lot's of work in all of his classes expecially genocide, but I've learned a lot from him and his assignments. He takes time to get use to but overall I think he is a great teacher.

I can't understand the positive ratings this professor has gotten--by far he is one of the worst teachers I have encountered. Likes to hear his own voice, discourages class discussion, lots of work, tough grader.
Demands a lot but a good guy just the same. Pushes you to do your best. A very fair grader and knowledgable on the subject. Great for older students that don't mind the work and for the younger students that need to understand what college-level work needs to be.
I had him for hist II four years ago; he wasn't very clear on the material; but when I had him for Ancient history, he was better (I think because of the small room). He isn't that bad; he is there to help you. Overall, not bad and a nice guy too.
All the comments I have read have some truth to them. He is a hard teacher to take. As long as you do the work, show up (do not miss any more than 3 classes), you should be ok.
he seriously has a speaking problem. i cant understand a word he says and it goes too fast while taking notes. i cant even understand what i read cuz he goes too fast. do not take him... you'll go insaine!
AWSOME! 3 20 page papers and thats it. want an easy A, take him! He is funny as hell, and i picked on him alot and he took it like a champ. Prove yourself and he will treat you with respect. Hell it was worth going to class just to see what he would wear. I think he gets dressed by a blind person!
Prof. Mazurek is the most condescending professor I have ever had. He consistently talks down to his students and tries to humiliate them. His test questions are vague and his logic is convoluted. He also consistently "loses" assignments or "forgets" to record them.
depends on his mood sometimes he is aite sometimes he is not
I'm a senior at Temple now... looking back I can say this class, more than any other, prepared me for both the quantity and quality of work expected at college.
Prof. Mazurek is a very intelligent man, however depending on his mood, he can be harsh. During class debates, he only stands by his point-of-view and fails to consider those opposed. Don't get me wrong, you will learn alot from this man, but he needs to "lighten up."
Listen, I would recommend taking his class only if ur willing to work HARD. If ur a slacker that doesn't like to read or pay attention then ur gonna fail. I feel that he gets a bad rap but that just me. Very informative, demands ALOT out of you, but itz co
He is not a super hard grader, but not a nice guy at all. He talks down and tries to embarass everyone with difficult questions. He also sweats a lot.
WOW.I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND MAZUREK, UNLESS U WANT HIS COFFEE STAINS ON YOU PAPERS
Pretty cool and unique teacher. I liked having him and talking to him. I had him for Western Civ II and Intergration of Knowledge: Study of Warfare. As long as you take good notes, and there will be a lot of them, you'll be fine. He is always there to talk to also. Like I said, he has a pretty cool and unique personality, friendly and comicial at times. I would take him as my teacher again.

a LOT of work, a lot of reading and writing to do especially on the weekends. not an easy A. you have to take all the notes you can get and never miss a class, it's all on the exam. the class can be very funny at times thanks to his "uniqueness", and all his exams are open-book to do at home, so i would take him again.
I adore Professor M.. the class was hard as hell but he is VERY knowledgeable and is willing to help you if you take the first step. His humor is dry and kitchy - he did make me laugh out loud a few times. I'll definitely take another one of his classes - this time just for fun.
Ridulis personality! Lot of eassay 12 to be exact. He gives essays over the weekend witch sucks. 3 essay exams. Prepare to do alot of writing. If your into that take him. If your affended easily and hate bias, Dont
Class is hard with lots of writing. If you stay on top of the assignments you will be fine - get the research paper out of the way early. Worst part was papers over the weekend, they took up all my time. He is a character, develop a thick skin as his bark is worse than his bite.
A definite character. Really fun to impersonate as well as watch. Notes will be a mess...just write what you can. Read the assignments. Do the writings. All will be very well. He's a good soul all in all, just expects that you keep your head together and do the work. Is that so much to ask of a college student after all?

he makes funny comments in class. if class ends at 9:50 he'll keep you till 10:00. talks down about history is taught in high school. makes fun of the way the football coach taught history. hes pretty damn funny

Maz may not be the best teacher, but he's nice and hilarious! I didn't like having all our essays over the weekend, but he seemed to accept any answers. He's a little hard to understand and his lectures are all over the place, so I never took notes and still got a B.
SUCKS!!!!!!!
Always late, makes you write essays based on vague and subjective questions , beleives that "facts do not speak for themselves", has not mastered history in any manner or form, needed a biologist to refute my essay on evolution while he taught evolution, and his breath smells like toxic waste and dog excrement mixed together.
If you like this man, you're an idiot! This guy cannot teach for his life. HE IS AWFUL!!!!! He's biased, sarcastic, cynical, and arrogant! I have never gotten a C in the two years I've been here except with him. I worked EXTRA hard, and still got a C. No matter what you do, say, he's always right. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS...SAVE YOURSELF!aaaarrrgggghh

He's a nice guy but not a good teacher. He gives out, I mean throws, tons of handouts and doesn't use half of them. There were 12 weekly essays, each assignment 3-4 parts, so actually about 48 essays and 3 examination essays (5parts). The weekly assignments weren't that bad. It seemed like he gave P+s for completion. He had a weird grading system.
I would say he is a good proffessor. I mean yea you have to write a lot but at least you don't have to take any hard exams. He pretty much checks the length of papers and gives a P+.
He is a nice guy, although he does have a very unclear grading system. He cares about his students. And when he teaches, he is all over the board, literally. I can't say wether I recommend him or not...
Mazurek is ridiculous. His grading system is about as comprehensible as the scratch that my little sister writes on the back of used paper. Overall, nice combover. I probably would have made it to class more often if I knew that he wasn't going to be there. His presence and speech patterns are very confusing.
Do not take Mazurek unless you love history. The guy is ridiculous and will curse at you. Be prepared to write one three page essay every week and three 10-15 page papers for the course. He provides way too much information, which you have to digest and analyze. He really makes it way too hard to be a 100 level course...
Mazurek, although he can be funny, is not worth putting up with. I can respect the man for knowing his stuff, but I'll never use all of the extra subjects he forced down my throat. Extremely zealous about what he teaches, Mazurek thinks, and tells you, that every word he gives you is gold.
Dropped this class the first day. Cant understand this techaer when he talks. Might be a nice guy but I need my money for school to count. This would have been a waste...
Mazurek is absolutely horrible! Very unorganized, notes are a complete mess, speaks way too fast, very boring! I do not recommend taking any of his classes! Stay far, far away!
This techer is the worst teacher i had since i attended bucks in 2007. He made it manditory to show up to class everyday. He is very hard to understand, and speaks way to fast. He expects you to write a paper every week. He expcts you to write a examination paper in 5 days. In my opinion stay as far as you can from this teacher, he is horriable.
This guy has a serious issue with the way he runs his mouth. He also is very inconsiderate when it comes to taking up class time. He is always the one late to class and never ends on time making you late for your next course. His grading system is easy, but his teaching style is horrific. I don't recommend this teacher.
I like Mazurek. He's hard to understand and notes are all over the place, but he knows his stuff and is helpful. No tests, but you have three 8-12 page papers. If you can't take a joke, stay away. Ignore the "strict teacher" act the first day. Only complaint is that he WILL make you late to your next class on a regular basis.
I have him right now. I like him as a teacher hes a cool funny old man but doesn't really know how to teach. He teaches like a story and tells you to right things down. His hand writing is that of an 8 year old. And he will always let you out 5 min. late. No in class tests or quizzes just papers on a weekly basics. Overall id rate him a c.
He is extrememly difficult to understand, in means of speech. His notes are all over the place. He goes from one subject to the next in just one sentence. He will never let you out on time, atleast 5-10 mins after every class. Once a week you have a 2-3 part essay due,and 3 take home tests 10-12 pages. He talks very fast. Not so much recommended..
He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I've taken him for every history credit I needed at Bucks and I do not regret it. Just don't be a child and you'll enjoy him, and if you need help, go to him right away, he's an incredibly caring teacher.
Ok, all of these comments hating on mazurek are from people who wanna do nothing. I had mazurek and yes hes hard to understand, but he teaches through his essays, he gives alot of essays and if you take your time read understand the questions to the essays express your opinion, he gives alot of work, but i know so much about US history becuz of him
He is a true lunatic, yes. He is strict on attendance, yes. He makes you read a lot and write a lot of papers, yes. But he is a very nice and person and is always willing to help. It's also cool that he is funny as hell to laugh at. If you don't mind being challenged and you don't mind having to work for your grade, he is a good choice.
he likes to embarrass people. He asks hard questions and expects you to know every word in the english dictionary. After answering, he tells you that it was such a BC3 answer. he's a bigot as well.
Easy class to pass for sure, but a word of advice: Do not assume that what he is telling you is the truth. You of course have to use that information for the papers you will be writing, but some of the "facts" he spouts are outright untrue. Look for other sources if you wish to not be embarrassed when talking to an educated individual.
We started with 25 students in the class and ended up with 4! Hard grader.
May seem "crazy" at first but he's a good guy, he has a lot of notes that you need for your exams and daily assignments, which are essays. He does help if you ask for it and as long as you can understand him it can be an easy class
I took his Ancient World class in the hopes of learning more about old religions. Unfortunately, all I got out of it are the phrase "delicate Levittown maiden" and some conservative-bashing. He spends too much time on irrelevant things and then skims over the important bits. And his grading system makes no sense at all. But I'd still take it again.
def a hard teacher, very rude, and hard to understand but if u can deal with it he knowns his stuff and it is possible to pass
I have the hardest time following him. He slurs through most of his sentences and jumps from topic to topic so i usually cannot concentrate or get lost. He also shows up late every day then keeps us late to make up time but complains about not having enough time for half the class. He also wrote on the wall one day....still there.
Prof M is not there to hold your hand1 It's college. Sometimes hard to follow, but if you read course material, including daily handouts, you'll get it. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would take him again in a heartbeat. He deals w/racism because "It needs to be eliminated" Per Prof M. Show up, take notes, email him ask questions.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU DO NOT LIKE WORK. There are 3 take home exams that are about 12-15 pages each. On top of that, there are weekly 3-4 page homework assignments in which MUCH reading is required (comparable to 4-5 double space pages). His lectures are riddled with personal opinions/rants that are irrelevant. Just overall not good
His class was very difficult. I was very excited to be learning about what the course offered, but he woud go from 1047AD back to 300BC and mention something "important" from curent events. I couldn't follow a word he said and wasn't sure what was important to note. He was also degrading and made rude remarks when we tried to ask questions. Avoid.
If you like writing, take this class. It is an easy A, no doubt, if you are willing to do the work. His entire class is based around 12 weekly homework assignments that consist of 2 or 3 essay questions to answer. Also, 3 "exams" will be given out. These are take home papers that are 10ish pages. No tests ever! lots of writing, easy a if you do it
absoutley terrible i dropped his class.
Awful teaching aside, he's just a downright condescending and bigoted person. He often puts down student's opinions, beliefs, and even ethnic backgrounds. Easy work, just loads of it. By the end of the semester we probably wrote 70 pages. While I passed the class just fine, I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.
Constantly need to take notes. Tests are 10 pages essays.
Awful Teacher. Do not take! If you have to then enjoy the drinking game... -Mentions Tea Party -sign the roster sheet after class -"scratch marks on the ceiling" -"I'm not there yet" -tattoo it all over your body -"distressed-ed" -"Philadelphia connotation" - I dont get a budget for sound effects - "full and complete understanding"
Mazurek has a good heart, but he's a bad teacher. Smart as all hell (he's a lawyer) but if you don't have a knack for history you'll fall behind quick. Each hw assignment is at least 4 pages (once a week). 3 exams all semester (each around 10 pages). he lets you hand in late hw any time through the course, which is nice (and saved my grade lol)
He does make us write a lot but you don't need to be specific. I summarized straight from the book and was getting b's. He does use the same phrases over and over again to, which gets annoying. Overall a good class, you will laugh at him alot with the class and he will think hes doing it, priceless. Can be 30 min late as long as you do your hw
He's very rude when you ask for help. I didn't understand how to take the first exam, because the module was locked and he responded with " its not my fault you don't know how to use technology". He was very sarcastic and degrading.
Only take him if you are a hard worker, like to write, and have thick-skin. If you write at a college-level, and are conscientious, he will love you, and you will do well. However, he has little to no patience, lacks a social filter, and sometimes yells and punches things. Yet, he is extremely knowledgeable, and you can learn a lot from him.
This guy is different! He lectures you the whole class. Very strange guy. Very boring class, but as log as you do the work, you will pass. No test at all. Just a homework assignment every Friday thats usually 3 pages.
Mazurek is not like most teachers. His grading system is ridiculous! Very rude at times. Very long lectures. He decides when class ends. Jumps from topic to topic. Very opinionated and is sometimes wrong. You can be 30 mins late to class, he doesn't care. NO TESTS! Do the work and you'll pass. I would definitely take his class b/c its easy to pass.
You can barley ever understand him
I'm in his class right now writing his review. Everything out of his mouth is impossible to understand. He slurs and sometimes spits when he talks. Nothing makes sense and he loves to scream, shout, and sometimes slam things. He also has no idea how to use a smart board. He just slaps it over and over again. Funny class, but you might not learn.
Dropped the class immediately. Very very hard to understand, jumps all over the place and requires a 3 page paper written every weekend to be handed in on Monday. Also, he does not let students leave the room-even to use the bathroom.
Prof. Mazurek makes it very clear about the assignments that will be due, which really only includes a 3-6 page paper weekly. He isn't a tough grader, and I found him hilarious. Lectures often, and doesn't baby you through the material, you're in college now. Don't give him a poor review just because you didn't feel like doing the work!
Mazurek is super old and sometimes hard to understand. He has been teaching the class for a really long time, and gets frustrated with lazy/inattentive student. If you show him that you care and that you're doing the work, you will get an A. I worked extremely hard for my A, but it was worth it and I learned a ton.
Professor Mazurek was the most challenging professor I've ever had, but I learned so much in his class. He's not there to hold your hand, it's your grade to earn. Take lots of notes, get ready to work hard. I still utilize my notes from his class in my current studies.
He was probably the worst professor that i have ever taken. I ended up dropping the course. He pretty much just talks to himself up at the board and expects you to know what he's talking about. Has a very short temper. Homework every week is about 4-6 pages of essays. I definitely do not recommend taking him at all!
I took this class last spring, and it was alright as long as you participated and did the assignments.
I had Prof Mazurek for history, love the subject but wasnt a huge fan of him. Notes were difficult to take as he would get sidetracked by another history topic. As long as you read the text youll be fine. The essays werent that difficult if you took the time to just read the text and take notice to the headings and what not.
