gives tests on 9-10 chapters at a time and doesn't really go over the material in class.
rambles about nothing and hard tests but if you do the homework you'll be ok.
Sure likes to talk a lot, great stories....accounting he is kinda hard for accounting one and it is difficult to adjust to his teaching style easy exams though..for business law does quite get the point across and the exams r hard but gives points for HW
they dont just HAND you a degree in business, unless your pops is a senator.. McC drives that point home. If you're lazy and stupid, McC is not the teacher you want. He's REAL, and super smart and savvy.. id follow him into the fire if he was my boss.
An awesome teacher. He really knows what he is talking about and can provide real life examples to back it up. I'm not going to say his class is easy but put it this way: I took it about 4 years ago and I still remember a good chunk of it.
he is one of the best at GCC..as a person and professor
Do NOT take any of his classes. I had him for accounting 1 and he made the materail 10x harder. He doesn't give any reviews for the exams, gives lots of homework, and hard to ask him questions.
Rambles on about basketball more than tort law. SO BORING.
A large portion of the class withdrawled. He doesn't teach the concepts of the chapter clearly. Most people in the class dropped after the exam because they did so bad even after there was a humongous bell curve. He has a habit of rambling on and on about the stupidest things.
BORING! Doesn't review for exams. Gives lots of homework. Doesn't answer questions well.
Horrible teacher. I have taken him twice now and I have learned nothing. I plan on going to law school, but certaintly not b/c of him. Class time is terrible b/c he doesn't go over anything meaningful. My notes are just a bunch of his stories. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of McCormack.
He makes Bus Law so difficult. Its kind of hard to follow what he's talking about most of the time too. The class isnt too hard though
Tells alot of stores. Wants students involved in class. requires easy project and homework. Test are lengthy but moderate in difficulty.
I took for accounting one and passed the class with a D. Of course I took it over with professor Chow, but McCormack, is okay of a teacher. His notes are not as clear, and he doesnt do them as much, and when he lectures, he gets of track. I think he needs to retire
Hard to follow, tells too many stories.
very unclear and tells to many stories
Easy if you pay attention and come to class. He answers the homework questions for you, which are the basis for the tests. A lot of people don't do well because they never show up. Show up and you'll do fine.
Hard to follow, ask a question and you hear about something compleatly opposite and not related to your question
Another professor who just tells stories & doesn't teach. The textbook is very wordy and needs to be explained in plain english, but he doesn't explain. He only answers about three homework questions per class because that's how long he goes on & on for. Then when you have to take the test, you are unsure because the work wasn't reveiwed.
McCormack was an awesome teacher. At first, it may seem like he's just rambling on, but pay attention and you will see that every story and every sentence that he speaks is relavent. Yes, it's a lot of homework, but you're in college!! Do the hw, go to class, pay attention, and you will get an A just like I did!
Horrible teacher. Did not review any material. If you want to understand Business Law don't take him
boring.
if you have no interest in business law this is the professor for you. i showed up to half of the classes, faked all the homework, and only put honest time into the project and got a C. my friend did the same thing and got B. He has to bell curve the tests because he's such a terrible teacher, but it's impossible to get less then a C.
he is juzz rediculoss... >:O
If you want to catch up on your sleep, just take him! He is one of the most boring teachers ever and he loves to hear himself talk for hours on end. I loved how easy his class was, so if you want an easy "A" this class is for ya.
Difficult class. But if you get the recommeded study guide, you should be ok. It helps alot.
He is a little loud and weird, but I thought he was a great teacher. He gives a lot of examples. He lets you use a cheat sheet on tests. As long as you study the things in the book and take decent notes you can do just fine. I got an A in his class.
Very difficult to understand. He rambles on about things and you get lost very quickly. As long as you do the homework when its assigned rather than the day its due (day of test), then you should be fine. The tests are crazy long (sometimes over 100Q). I did learn alot in his class though.
If you're going to McCormack, don't. He rambles on about ridiculous stuff. He's rude and very "by the book" when it comes to grades. Absolutely terrible, wouldn't reccomend him to my worst enemy. If you can survive the meaningless stories and crazy voices he does, it makes for a good nap, but don't expect to know a shred of B.Law when you get out.
Worst teacher ever! You need to teach yourself. I got him right now and can't stand him. Doesn't explain at all. He wants you to be opinionated but when you are, he makes you feel stupid. I end up doing the next chapter reading in class. Buy the study guide. Shouldn't be a teacher at all. The homework not due to test day is good. Waste of Money.
in retrospect he was a very good teacher. his stories outline the principles he's teaching. i know things can get tough, but if u honestly put quality time into studying you'll get atleast a B
If you are taking class with him, be prepared to teach yourself! He will not teach you terms and they will ALL be one the exam. You text book will become your new best friend.
mccormack can get boring from time to time. class isn't mandatory although he claims it is. still, if you want to pass, you need to be there to hear his stories and examples which outline the lesson. he's very old school; kind of corny but a very nice man. very knowledgable in many areas. WARNING: be prepared to use the textbook. a lot.
Ramble, Ramble, Ramble about football and baseball. More and likely you will teach yourself in this class. Don't get me wrong, he is a nice guy but he not there when you need help
I had a tough time in the beginning getting used to his style of teaching but ending up really enjoying his class. He is extremely knowledgeable in the area of Business. To do well in class, you have to show up for class, do the case problems and read the text!
This guy is wonderful. Do you have to read the text? YES Do you have to do the assignments? YES Do you have to ask questions about stuff you didn't understand? YES If you do the above, you will pass his test and his class. Does he ramble on? Yes his stories for the most part are interesting and pertain to the material. Great Teacher for 107&108
Worst class I've ever had. I did very well in Bus Law I with another teacher. This guy rambles on about everything but the material. If you want to do well in this class completely ignore everything he says and just read the book and do the case problems. He talks in circles never answering your question directly. Very sarcastic and unhelpful.
Best FT Accounting Teacher at GCC. Liked his law course. Can drag at times. Tests are hard, but curves.
This guy is RIDICULOUS. I am a pretty well educated person, and Im almost positive I failed out of this class. He doesnt really teach or explain everything. He assumes you already know it all when you register and you self-teach the whole semester. At the beginning of the semester, there were over 30 students. Now theres less than 10 because of him
honestly, his teaching style is outdated. i don't know if he thinks it's cool the way he tries to talk like he's one of the guys, but it's not. his stories have nothing to do with the class. doesn't give any notes or handouts.
Nice man, but he doesn't teach. He rambles on nothing related to the material on the test. All class he answers questions that are due day of the test, only problem is there is no lecture and those questions doesn't relate to the questions on the test. It is a self-teaching class that the professor makes you want to sleep! Don't take him!
Had Ooach for Law 1&2 and act 2 and got A's. He makes these classes interesting and tells it how it really is. His tests are reasonable. Do the questions ahead of time so you can ask questions on the ones you don't understand. He's very helpful. Doing the extra credit in Law 2 really does help. Nice instructor and great coach, too!
Mr McCormack is a pretty hard teacher but he is a really nice man. Although he does tend to ramble and tell us stories, hes funny and his laugh is great.Ive had him for three classes and although i knew he was hard, i still enjoyed having him as a teacher.
very knowledgable man. have to read the text to do well. his stories are great and he puts things in perspective. i loved him
I took him for 1 & 2, big mistake. (For Bus law 1 & 2) From what i hear taking Bork is basically a guaranteed B or better- take her.
He relates the problems w/ his own life experiences.Constantly ask questions on case problems he assigns & he'll give you the answers.MUST READ BOOK & answer case problems to fully comprehend the course since he barely teaches it.Miss class no more than 3 times but make sure you read the chaps.Do everything he assigns & you'll get a decent grade
One good thing, he's a nice guy. However, he rambles A LOT and doesn't do much teaching. If you don't read the book you'll get lost real fast. There's a lot of homework, do it all or you'll lose a lot of points. His tests are long, and expect to see more than a couple questions you aren't prepared for. Just do the work and you'll get an A.
This professor is very knowlegable on the accounting system. However if you ask him a question he does not answer your question witht the clarity that you wouldve hoped for.
McCormack is very knowledgeable yet you will not learn/remember a thing. He talks about legal issues and cannot teach at all. The homework and tests are all related to the chapter case problems. If he saw you in the hallway he won't even know your name. He does not get to know his students, nor does he care. Do your homework and study hard.
He's RIDICULOUS! I took him for bus law 1 & 2 and did fine, I did the homework (just to hand it in for the grade) and did not listen at all in class, and still got a B in the class. The tests are multiple guess and he curves. His stories had nothing to do with the book/tests.
I cannot pay attention to his rambling, I have him for two classes and it's a huge waste of time, you may as well read the book then take the test. If attendance wasn't mandatory I wouldn't be here
I get nothing out of this class! Waste of time and money!
Very knowledgeable with accounting procedures. He uses real life situations and sometimes contradicts the book because of his vast business experience. He's not a great teacher but he is good at what he does he lives for accounting he still does CPA and he can definitively help the business majors out there. Received an A in accounting one and two.
Lost in this class...It would be nice to keep exams to learn from mistakes, especially if someone needs help. Not real good at teaching/explaining acounting. Would be real nice if notes/homework were available via my portal at GCC.
He is a tough teacher. You need to read all the chapters he assigns and do the hw bc he collects them all on test day and they count big time. He lectures all class and will go over the case problems from the hw but you need to take notes. The tests are difficult and you need to study. If you are looking for a easy ride hes not the prof to take.
Disliked him at the start of the semester but he grows on you... Be patient and he starts to become funny. Tests are hard-mostly situational like questions, similar to the hw. Do NOT allow yourself to fall behind on hw, your test grades will reflect it.
Not a very good teacher. Better off teaching myself. Class feels longer than it actually is. Not helpful at all.
McCormack is a great teacher, if you are in school for the right reasons. We come to learn right. So stop pouting wishing you were home sleeping and get involved. He does ramble sometimes but it's the price I have paid 4x's now bc of his passion for accntng and law. He is always willng to help and discuss any problems. The world is challenging!
Worst teacher I have ever had. If you want to listen to rambling and have to teach yourself this is your man ! Easily distracted and does not teach. He "goes over" the case problems, but ends up talking about something completely different. DO NOT TAKE.
He sucks. Does not help with understanding any material, gets side tracked with ancient memories. His curve really penalitizes everyone.
He is very unclear with deadlines and when things must be turned in. Don't show up to class late if there is a quiz due because he won't accept it even if you're there. He only talks about sports and doesn't teach anything about business law; the book will be your teacher.
He just told us to go out and drink before our finals rather than study because he could not give us one thing that we needed to study to pass. He is very unclear, only talks about sports and doesn't care that the students actually do care about their grades and want to do well but he prohibits us from doing so. He is the worst teacher ever.
Worst teacher you will ever take. I had him for two classes and he screwed me in both. I think the highest grade in my class was a C my class went from 40 to 11 kids by the end of the semester everyone dropped of stopped showing up he graded portly and never talked about the course always tried to make poor sports references awful teacher.
omg im currently taking him and wow. ots terrible. im all for learing for the right reasons and not trying to skate through college but he is making it impossible. i come out of class not learning a thing! and the case problems? crazy. 90 each! and not showing up to class is a mistake. overall DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT TO ACTAULLY COME OUT WITH INFO
Mr. McCormack was not a good teacher. He gets off topic so easily and all the time, you cant understand his lectures and he phrases his test questions in the worst way, you end up getting the questions wrong just because of the phrasing. You dont have to do the homework and the book teaches it better then him. Would not take again.
You will learn more about Chip Kelly's offensive line run scheme than accounting in this class. Does not explain any of the material or teach for that matter. If attendance wasnt mandatory, i doubt anyone would show up. When asked to clarify a definition in class, Mr. McCormack walked to the student and read the definition straight out of the book
I didn't understand Mccormack's teaching style in the first few weeks. but as time goes on, you will realize you HAVE TO DO HOMEWORKS from his class. I guarantee you will not fail if you do homework. he will make sure you pass the class if you put effort to it. and he always gave some extra credit in the test, and tests always are open notes.
If you want to have a good laugh and you love NFL Football, then this class is for YOU! He always rambles the most random things and his favorite catchphrase is " You have TO DO IT!!" The textbook is your best friend and he sidetracks all the time. I rather watch Dora the Explorer in French than to take this class again. The boul rarely teaches.
Worst teacher i ever had! He rambles on about any and everything. Never stays on topic you'll be so confused about everything. Assigns assignments but never helps you understand it before he goes on rambling about something else. If you want to get you're business degree do not pick him as a teacher!
Assigns a lot of homework but doesn't check it. Lectures are confusing and he rambles a lot, but its an easy A if you read the book.
Would not recommend this teacher. He doesn't actually teach you anything just rambles on about random stuff like football. He gives you a bunch of homework assignments that he doesn't check. When asked a question he rambles on for 20 minutes and never fully answers your questions. Only take if you wanna sit there banging your head on your desk.
Awful. I was so excited for accounting class and he ruined it for me. He does not teach good at all, he rambles about nothing. If you want to learn you have to teach yourself. Luckily I had good notes from high school. His exams are horrible, since he does not teach. The class stressed me out and gave me a headache. This was absolutely horrible.
This professor rambles on about random topics that makes you more confused than ever before. He grades on a curve so you can fail every test and still pass because everyone else fails too. Just do the project and homework (which is due on test day) and you will be fine
Don't do this to yourself. The only grades he uses are the tests and they (just like him) don't make any sense. If you fail one then that's it you're down to at best a C. Most of the class had dropped out by mid-semester.
Great teacher if you like stories!!! Boy did I loved hearing his stories about him going to eagles games and not accounting!!! I didn't mind at all going home and teaching myself a new concept for hours a night!!! great story for ages 6-10!!
Spent most of the class time rambling about random anecdotes or opinions, barely about the subject material that would help us succeed, exams every 2 weeks if not more frequently, sometimes exams a week or half a week apart, not much time to learn new material.
I honestly thought he was cool and was well experienced. You cannot just sit there and listen you need to take notes, write definitions from the book and highlight, no accounting class is easy. He lets you use your notes during the exams so thats why I am saying take organized notes. I took him for both act 1 and act2, act is def more difficult
Absolute worst teacher I have ever had. Should not be allowed to teach. All he does every class is talk and ramble about the most meaningless stuff that has nothing to do with the class. He tells you you must read the textbook to pass and you will spend HOURS reading the whole textbook to try to figure out what is going on. Test are impossible.
He is a great teacher and has a lot of good stories, but does make you work for it. If you arent going to pay attention in class or do the reading youll have a hard time with his classes. I had him for 4 classes over a span of 15 years and really enjoyed all of them.
All of your grades are based on your test scores. He has zero blackboard presence. There are no outlines for the tests. There are no PowerPoint slides. His lectures are unclear and confusing. When you ask a question his response is totally unrelated to the topic. Has given tests that were 3 classes apart. Teaching style is way outdated.
This mans lectures literally teach you nothing. He just talks and talks and talks throughout the class and barely goes over anything. You need to read what you have to in order to even somewhat understand. The tests have some stuff of what youre reading here and there but they barely make sense. His grading system is not like any other teachers.
Very intelligent teacher with valuable knowledge of business and the real world. If you show up to class, read the chapter summaries, and do the homework; you will be fine. But, if you find yourself disliking Professor McCormack, it is probably because your either lazy or an ignorant socialist millennial. Btw, I had him for Business Law 2.
Took him for accounting 1. I couldn't keep up with what he was spewing day in and day out. Rarely taught actual content and barely went over homework. He ruined my accounting experience by just talking all class and never really teaching. Am in Accounting 2 now and have learned more in 1 class than he taught me all last semester. Find anyone else.
