He is hands down the best science teacher I have ever had.He explains every concept so that no matter who you are-you get it.A 6th grader would be able to grasp college science the way this man teaches.He is simply the best and his class is extremely interesting.I wish he taught more because it would be a pleasure to take another course from him!

Incredable!!! I took him years ago. This man was awsome!! Extremely knowledgeable on subject matter. I didn't realize it, but I was thinking of changing my major to Geology because of this dude--he is that great. WOW. WOW. WOW. I like the class so much that I volunteered to tutor the subject. Hm, maybe that's why I like collecting gem stones now?

Great teacher and his tests are straight from the lectures.... he won't remember your name unless you talk to him everyday... but he's a great guy

So far, he has been the best teacher I've ever taken. There wasn't one day in his class were I didn't think to myself, "I didn't know that", or, "That makes sense." That class is never boring. Also, he doesn't only teach you Geology, he also helps the possibility of you getting rich by teaching you how to find oil under your property. I didn't, but with the two quarters I found I bought some CornNuts. I highly recommend him.

This teacher is great, I never missed a class and I changed my major to geology. enjoyed his lectures and laid back attitude. Just don't walk in front of him while he's lecturing...he hates that.

Most of the other reviews are true...this guy is great and easy going. I feel I learned alot due to him keeping everything simple, the way it should be.

Best class I ever had! I LOVED this teacher. He is interesting, fun, has a great personality, and will teach you a ton about oceanography. It's been 7 years since I've taken this class and I still remember the stuff he taught me and still use it today. I still have my notes.

I was not excited about taking geology. I am so glad I had O'Neil for a professor. He is seriously the best professor out there. Every class is filled with interesting things you never knew before and applied to geology. The tests are easy because all the material is in the syllabus. I highly recommend taking any class with O'Neil.

What better way to learn about the ocean than from someone who spends a lot of their time out there anyway! he is a surfer and he makes the class very enjoyable and interesting while keeping the grading simple

I absolutely loved this class. He dosen't ask any suprise questions on the test and everything is covered beutifully on the syllubus. He is very knowlegeable on the subject and not to mention a cool dude.

Tom O'neil is a really cool guy and a great teacher. Class is very straight forward and highly interesting. Quiz every day about previous lecture. Midterm and final. Final is not cumulative. Overall very easy A if you pay attention and show up every time. You get to go to the beach, too.

This teacher is WONDERFUL! He'll have you looking up at the moon, checking out the clouds and so much more! I wish more teachers were like him. He makes his class so fun and interesting. Definitely a great asset to the school.

Mr. O'Neil Is a great teacher and a real inspiration. He has done more in his life than I could ever dream to do and there is no better way to teach something than with having first hand experience with the topic.

Took Oceanography- what a great teacher! His lectures were energetic and very interesting. He has a great method of teaching through visual references and stories that really help the info stick! Definitely take one of his classes if you can!

Physical Geology is very interesting. I recommend you take this class with him because it informs you about an everyday life situaton (earthquakes, tsunami, etc.). He offers a lot of extra credit as well.

Professor Oneil deserves an award for the BEST teacher in the Oxnard CC system, he writes grants to get $$ for the students, he is extremely knowledgable and has lots of experience in his subject matter. He is a master in oceanography. He relates the lessons to real life, such as the tides and the moon, now I will never forget to observe the MOON!!

He is an interesting looking professor but his personality and wealth of knowledge greatly overshadows his wild hair ;). He is passionate in his subject matter, energetic lecturer. Certainly, one of the best teachers at OC

Very cool, easy to talk to! He has so many great stories and experiences that make the class fun to attend. Warning: write down everything, even if you think it may not be on the exam. Had him for lab and lecture. I totally recommend him, he's the greatest teacher I've had and with few quizzes or HW. Only 2 exams and 1 final. Textbook NOT needed.

Took his class my first year in college and he was the best, the information was presented clearly and he is overall fantastic.

Took his Oceanography as well as Physical Geology. He is one of those exceptionally well-gifted instructors, who can explain things very well. Pretty much everything he asks the class is a potential test question. Book not required as much though helpful, but good note taking is the key to doing well on his tests. He also has a good sense of humor.

Thee easiest and most laid back professor ever to teach at OC! His lectures are fun and energic and the textbook he required our class to purchase was only $2!!! AWESOME AWESOME! Highly recommended.

Must attend class to pass. No quizzes, only 2 test and final.

Totally RAD teacher. I took the lab course which was once a week. Mini field trips to local beaches! Need a car or car pool with someone. Pay attention to what he says, be prepared to write down the answers on the packet he gives you. Try to bring your old notes from last course. Lots of group work. Make sure to bring a friend! Learn my lesson!!!!

Great teacher

Tom O'neil is an amazing professor! He's hands down my favorite professor and I always recommend him to my friends and family. He definitely made 3 hours of lecture bearable. To pass his class memorize the notes he reviews with the class prior to each exam(there's 3 exams). Plus, if you get a bad grade on first exam he'll drop that exam!

Looked forward to going to class. He made geology interesting and fun. Would take him for more classes. I learned a lot.

Professor O'Neil, hands down the funniest teacher I've had. He REALLY knows the material, he has so much experience. Doesn't have a real book, he made up copies of his powerpoints, just make sure you do take notes on it, his tests are all multiple choice. If I took better notes I definitely could have gotten an A.

You CAN buy the book, BUT I barely used mine. He has his own packet of lecture notes that you can buy for $5 at the book store, and it is required. You take notes there. Midterm and final where easy. 100 questions but as long as you attend and take notes(does not go fast in lectures) you will do fine.

O neil is a super cool surfer dude. You can find him sometimes walking on the streets like a regular person. He's funny and is understanding. Work is easy. He sells his own book for the class for like $5. Take him.

O'Neil is easily one of the funniest and best professors i have ever had. My major has nothing to do with what he teaches but I learned a lot and found an interest in oceanography because of him.

Great professor that explains literally every question you have until you understand it fully. He respects his students and loves what he does. Pay attention to the lectures in class and you will pass. If you skip class you will be lost during the exams

4 100 question tests-- grades on a scale ! Gives extra credit opportunities. Make sure to come to all lectures. The tests are made up off of the lecture.

Great professor, easy class if you pay attention and write good notes. You dont use the book only the study guide he wrote. Save your money and dont purchase the GEOLOGY book. Lectures are easy to follow, dont be afraid to ask questions he will help you in any way he can.

Showing up to class makes the tests a piece of cake. Funny guy, will make your day. Although he lectures the whole class but tries to wake you up with cool stories.

I took the hybrid class. His lectures are pretty much online but he does explain things much deeper in person. I fell asleep in his lectures a few times because he does have a pretty monotoned voice. He does not give much extra credit so do try your best on quizzes, most of the time you can take them twice. He has pretty cool stories about his life

Dr. O'Neil is the coolest professor ever! He gives amazing lectures and most of it are based on his own experiences! He's really funny in a way that he tells us funny story that will surely relate to the topics. Our class was moved online all of a sudden, due to covid19, but he adjusted real quick and still, the lectures are AMAZING! The best!

I took this online class over the summer. With COVID,there were no field trips and I can only imagine how awesome this class would have been with them. Nonetheless, you will learn a plethora of information about the earth and how things work. I absolutely LOVED this class. Very clear & well structured. Caring instructor, fantastic class. Thank you!

Professor O'neill is awesome. This semester was completely online and it was very easy. All you have to do is watch his online lectures and take notes with the worksheets he gives. There's a quiz and discussion every week but if you pay attention to the lecture you'll pass. Two tests for the whole semester. Fairly easy class to pass.

Great lectures that are pre-recorded, zoom meetings are very informative. The professor is willing to answer any questions that may come up throughout the course. He also offers extra credit opportunities.

He is a wonderful professor and he is willing to help with anything. He gives helpful feedback. I learned a lot in the course about the earth also ocean.
