Nice guy. Not too hard. Interesting.
just go to class and inter-act and you'll do fine
Very easy
Great teacher. Very helpful. Learned a lot in this class. I wish he taught more classes. Definately recommended.

He doesn't curve that I can see, but he is really laid back and a great guy. He is interesting and usually has some kind of class interaction. No tests or quizzes in ENG 325, just 9 small projects (resume, etc.) and 1 group project (you will write 3 pg)
sometimes his 1.25hr long professional communications course will last 30mins
Anyone who gives you a grade for describing a pencil isn't too bad...fun and pretty easy!!
A great guy! Fun to interact with in class. He had a laid-back quality, but still found ways to interject humor. Take him if you can.

He grades pretty rough but he is an easy teacher. His class can be boring but he is a cool guy. He lets you out early since nobody wants to be in english for an hour and a half
easy. laid back and you never stay in class for long. sometimes he's lazy and cancels for no reason. greatest proffesor ever.
Good teacher, good class....Admire his environmentally mindful ways! I also thought it was cool that he admitted to being a tree hugger the 1st day of class. Good job, esp. w/the class he had to work with!

A displaced hippy, he always tries to involve the students, even when they don't want to be involved. But if they resist, they won't find him an easy A by any means. I read the material and participated in class and got my A, so you can, too.
wish he taught classes in other department too
Very non-judgmental.. Like when he wants to know your opinion on something, he really appreciates different students and he's very complimentary (possibly gracious) when you contribute to the class. :)
He likes opinions. Very open and honest to dicussion. Does not mind to let out class early. Fairly easy teacher.
great teacher, very laid back, open minded, and funny. never any busy work, when you're done with what needs to be done class is over. definatley should take him if you can.
Dr. Saya is awesome! He never keeps you in class the whole time, but you don't feel like the class was a waste either. I learned so much from him and I would take him for every English class if I could. Take him for English 3250 if you can!
he the man! this is the best teacher so far. he likes to get people stirred up about hot issues, and helikes to debate. Subjects we have wrote about are very cool.
LOVE THAT CLASS! very easy and hey, his syllabus rocks...class- hardly ever (due to essays) You have a few homeworks worht 2.5pts and the rest are essays...VERY EASY! just be sure to show to class-very hard on attendence

Saya is a great professor. He cares about the students. He is easy on grading. He really makes you think about the issues and yourself. A+++!!!
He is a very good professor. The syllabus tells exactly what needs to be done, and as long as you follow the syllabus .. you will get an A. just make sure the citations are correct.
great class i would take him again very easy
Perhaps a bit of a hippy or a least exhibits the ideals, cool guy, seems to actually care about everyone's opinions
easy teacher. Do you work and this will be the easiers comp 2 class ever
Writing has never been one of my strong points. I took professor Saya's class in the summer and made an A !! He is a great teacher. He encourages you to think and write creatively, not simply write things the way HE wants them done. I would take a class he teaches any time.
Seems to be a nice guy, lots of essays, some group work, but nothing hard.Only alllowed to have 4 absences for ANY reason,so if you will need to miss a lot id find another teacher.he always explains exactly what he wants in your papers. when you even have class, you will get out early.
Saya is an awesome professor! He is very merciful on grading. If you put in any effort into your papers (only 3 all semester), you will do fine. As a very nice bonus, you are rarely in class the entire time. After a paper is assigned, you are given several class days off with which to work on it. A+
He resembled Johnny Depp before he got all his hair cut off. You write a lot of papers but he graded them pretty leniantly because I got great scores on all of them even though I struggle with comma usage.Very, easy, take him,if you want;an easy,A.He has an awsome voice!
TAKE THIS GUY, i never got above an 85 on any of my 5 papers that i was supposed to do, and turned in all but one late, and ended up with an a in the class. he is a really nice guy, will cancel class a lot at the end, and usually lets you out early every time
This class was some what fun with Saya, he was hard core on group work so you didn't just have to sit and listen to him talk. The whole semester I thought I had a B since my papers were, but I still wound up with an A.
Reminds me of Jean Claude Van Damme before he cut his hair off. Funny guy that likes to laugh and have class discussions. All you have to do is turn your work in on time and you will have no problems.
I highly recommend taking him! He's a real nice guy, very laidback. After a paper is assigned, you rarely have class because he lets you have that time to write the paper. Half the semester you aren't even in class. Easy A as long as you turn in your work and put forth the effort!
Saya looks like Rasputin or even Jesus and is very very easy. We had class less than we didn't. I would expect at least two months of not going to class.
He is a nice man who lets you out of class for 1/2 the semester to write your papers. Just follow his detailed instructions in what he wants from each paper (4) and you will have an easy A
Mr. Saya was a fun teacher. Sometimes instead of just boring the class wirh lecture, we got to get into groups to discuss the part fo the book we were assigned. He has essay tests, but they are not very hard.
I had him for Honors Amer. Lit. Although I'm just a freshman, he's probably the best professor I've had so far. He's funny and really clear about what he expects from you. In class, he goes over every thing you were supposed to have read the night before. He basically gives you the answers to the tests the day before.
Not a bad teacher and has a pretty good personality. He pretty much tells you what you need to know, but if you don't do well with quotations tests then watch out. Easy to get along with, stays pretty much to schedule. For fun, some classes you get in groups and discuss what you read. ONLY 3 TESTS/GRADES!!
Had him for Intro to Creative Writing and also the Poetry section. Great guy, very understanding, very laid back. If you get lower than a B you're dumb. Don't buy the book unless you're unfamiliar with different writing styles and need examples of what he assigns. Awesome class.
Great professor! I dreaded this class but when I got in I loved it! He's an awesome professor! Our final was a group final!
Saya is a very easy teacher. He is not an easy teacher like the kind that talk about themselves and you don't learn anything. He is the kind that teaches you more than you've ever learned, but you still get an A on everything. Try to give him respect. He is a wonderful contribution to the English Department at TTU. TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN!
My favorite Prof in college. He is very helpful laid back this could have been a terrible class but he made you want to read and understand the material! He is really hott too in a Johnny Depp way.
Dude is a magician
Saya's the man. Great teacher. Great guy. Take him for as many classes as you can. I wish he taught calculus.
Great Professor! Not hard. No tests, just several quizzes. One final which is a presentation, or at least it was in my class. He's very funny person with a terrific personality! Take this person if you have the chance!
Lots of reading, quiz questions are a little random but not too hard, and there was no final; just a brief presentation. Very interesting and funny professor--highly recommended. You learn a lot!
A favorite professor! Saya's class is pretty laid back, but you learn quite a bit. He will help you understand what he wants out of an assignment if you're not sure, but it's a creative writing class. He gives you some boundaries for each assignment. You have to make decisions from there. If you don't feel good about that, take something else.
Mr. Saya is a good teacher. He is very helpful in explaining everything. I am bad at reading comprehension and I have to read the same page over and over to understand sometimes, but I made a "B" in the class. You have a quiz every day so attendance is key. it's hard at the beginning but at the end of the semester it gets EASY so don't stress.
im an A student and i dont think saya is as easy as everyone thinks..i worked my butt off in American LIt and made a high B and an A in british lit..attendance is MANDATORY..quizes everyday NO TESTS OR PAPERS..pretty nice guy though.
He is a very unique person. It's hard to figure out what kind of person he really is and he over analyzes way too much. One would say that his quizzes every day are easy but you end up getting a lot of 4/5 which will add up and leave you with a low B if you don't watch. You have to read everything and just pray you remember whats on the quizzes.
This class requires a lot of analyzing; you must be able to read stories and poems on a deep level and for plot summary and themes. Mr. Saya starts each class period with a 5 question quiz (not so easy), and then the rest of the day is open discussion or group work (always fun). You don?t have to write any papers, however, your final for the class
This class requires a lot of analyzing; you must be able to read stories and poems on a deep level and for plot summary and themes. Mr. Saya starts each class period with a 5 question quiz (not so easy), and then the rest of the day is open discussion or group work (always fun).
I thought this class was great because there was a lot of group work and no papers to write. The quizzes every day could be difficult, so it was important to read carefully. The final was just a presentation at the end. Very fun teacher, a little strange at times.
This class is a great way to develop a creative side.No tests! No papers!Daily quizzes and a five minute speech are the only requirements.Tom Saya is down to earth and highly recommended.
He likes to let students figure things out for themselves. Class was structured around creativity, sharing ideas, and criticism from other students. New poems were assigned and written every week followed by workshops with other students. Each week he assigned a new type of poem. Good class. Forces you to write and receive criticism.
Saya is an AWESOME professor. All you have to do is attend class and make sure you read. There are no tests at all. Just daily reading and daily quizzes. You also have to do a 5 minute presentation over a poem of your choice at the end of semester. Super easy class. Highly recommend taking his class!
Awesome professor. I absolutely hate lit, and opted to take an additional one just bc of him. Daily quizes over readings...not super difficult. Great guy! Take his class
Saya is absolutely the best professor I have ever had. His classes were a great experience. He gives a lot of easy quizzes (provided you do the assigned reading), and his final is actually fun! He has a strangely calm personality that's hard to describe, but it's a good one. Best professor ever, period.
Very interesting class. He gives no test or exams, but there is a quiz in his class every day. Quizzes are easy providing you read the assignment. He tries to be funny at times but doesn't succeed. Very good and helpful. Very easy class. Take this class!!
Saya is by far the best creative writing teacher. His class and lectures and interesting, and he'll help anytime you ask for it. I take Saya any chance I can. His class is easy, and we didn't have any quizzes in the creative writing course I took. The assignments are fun and easy.
I adore Mr. Saya. There are no exams in his class so you are not required to retain details for weeks. He is a great guy and does everything possible to help his students. This is my last required literature/English class but if I had anymore to take I would take any of his.
He gives reading assignments every night and quizzes every day over them. The quizzes are extremely picky so if you're not good with detail I wouldn't take him. No tests at all.. Over all if you read and get at least fours (out of 5) on each quiz and do good on the final project you should pass with an A. (also offers 4 quiz drops)
I was 6 pts away from an A at the end of the sem but he still gave it to me so he's pretty lenient. Quizzes every class over the reading homework, lots of details but you learn what to look for. Presentation at the end of the semester, but not a big deal- you only have to go when its your day to present so there's not a lot of people to watch you.
You don't use a text book, just lots of little books that you are told to buy. You use them all so make sure to buy them! He always you to use kindles and nooks so ebooks are fine. You never take an exam which is lovely but you do have tests almost every single class period. He is a wonderful teacher and he goes over everything you read.
He is a great teacher. I highly recommend. He is attractive for an older man.
Here's the class. You have 5 question quizzes basically every class period over 20-40 pages of material or 4 - 5 poems. 4 factual questions, 1 essay that he lectured about the class before. Read the assignment, or sparknote, and you'll be fine. If you want to actually learn literature and not stress over papers, he's your professor
Really funny, was actually able to make British Lit exciting.
I took his Honors Colloquium on Sonnets. No exams. Just have to write a few sonnets and make some videos and presentations. Every assignment in that class is pass/fail. If you pass each assignment, you get an A. Simple. If you fail the first time, you can redo the assignment for reconsideration. If you're in Honors, take a colloquium if he teaches.
No tests but quizzes almost every class. He gives you an exact syllabus of when you have the quizzes. I never fully read them but used sparknotes and I am making a low A. He is very funny and a nice guy. If you fail this class you need to reassess your priorities.
Take him! He's a funny professor who does a good job of keeping your interest. Read the stuff he assigns you. No tests, but 5 question quizzes almost every class. Most are easy. Pay attention to details. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you don't want to miss a quiz. The final is a presentation of a poem, but you only have to go the day you present.
Tom Saya is the best thing in the English Department. I recommend him highly but "KNOW YA BIRDS!"
no papers. no final exam. All you do is read and have quizzes Just read the pages he assigns and you will pass the quizzes and pass the class.
Great class! Small 5 question quiz everyday on a reading from the night before. Not very hard though. He's very funny and he gives you an opportunity to raise your grade at the end of the semester.
Dr Saya is a great teacher! There are no papers in his classes. You will take a quiz in the class almost every day. There are no tests either. You have to read the assignments to pass the quizzes. Great class!! Definitely reccomend
I've never seen a professor less interested in a subject. He seems like he doesn't want to be there. He gives quizzes almost every class, and most are easy. No final, just an analysis of a sonnet. He also does group projects, for which you get credit for just participating. If you want to learn literature, stay away. If you want an A, take him.
There's no papers in his class, which is a plus. But there are reading assignments almost every night and a quiz every day. If you read them, you will do fine.
Saya is funny, and serious about his literature. Only take this class if you love writing. He is really easy on the grading. Be ready to decipher poems, and go to class with your thinking cap on.
His reading quizzes are the devil. Be prepared to know off the top of your head finite details of 20+ pages of hard reading material. If you love Brit Lit, take him. If not, run!
There's a lot of reading assignments in this class, but it's a writing class so it helps to read the stuff he assigns. You have to be open to talking in class and sharing opinions about the classes' work / your work. You have to write poems and a story and the class reads what you have written so you can't be shy about talking in front of people!
As long as you do the reading, the class is really easy. He gives short little quizzes almost every class, but they are very easy if you read. There were no essays and no tests, so the class was a breeze. Would take again.
Get accustomed to always having an assignment or reading due every class period. He grades your assignments as pass or fail which is pretty fair. You will need to participate a little, and try to not miss class. He is a great professor, and his class will make you a better writer.
Lots of reading. Quizzes almost every class, some weeks every class. Only 5 questions/ quiz .
Professor Saya is cool. He knows his poetry and he makes sure that you know the poetry too. He is very chill about most things and will definitely help you if you ask. Very lenient when it comes to due dates if you talk to him about it. Expect a lot of reading but not much else. Two exams. I would definitely take him again. Like I said, he's cool.
You have a reading assigned due every class. Each class, there is a quiz based on the reading due and the previous lecture. At the end, he started giving bonus questions. The final project is an analysis of a poem. The final & group projects in the class are guaranteed A's if you try. I dreaded this class, but it wasn't that bad. No papers or tests
Very interesting teacher! Most days you have a reading assignment and a 5 question quiz over that reading. Final is a presentation over a poem. He loves his poetry.
Saya is a gift to the English department and you genuinely have to try to fail an assignment. Just try not to skip and do your readings.
There is a lot of reading you have to do for this class! But, this class was very enjoyable and he gave some extra credit towards the end of the semester. Make sure you read (dont sparks note it) everytime he says to read. All of his grading comes from quizzes and one presentation. Sometimes his questions for his quizzes are very specific.
Great professor, he really loves his poetry. Theres a quiz almost every day over the reading for that day and the previous lecture. Theres a few group projects that are 100s if you put forth some effort. No essays or tests. Easy to make an A or B as long as you show up and read for every class.
Almost every class you take small quiz on the reading from the night before so as long as you can remember stuff the class is a cakewalk. Most of the projects are automatic 100s as long as you put forth some effort and his lectures are rather enjoyable as well.
I love this professor's classes. He gives students a lot of freedom in their assignments while laying some guidelines. He brings the best out of you and makes you a better poet. I've had him for two creative writing classes and a poetry form class; all A's. As long as you put in the effort, you will get an A. You pretty much have to try to fail.
