I took this course online over the summer. It was easy, just follow along and do the assigned reading each week. Lots of tests and quizzes but other than that its easy.

good guy. he makes you feel dumb sometimes. but if he does, you might just be dumb. it was an ok class. i got a B

Good teacher, makes everything clear, pay attention and you eill get a good grade.

The way he explained this class is exactly as it was, either you got it or you didn't. He went over things many, many times to make sure we understood. He would go off in tangents sometimes about Philosophy but it made the class more interesting. I thought he was a great professor.

Take online course. You really don't need to buy the book, just read his summaries of the readings. All the quiz and test material is found there. I hardly put any effort, got a B..

GREAT professor. He makes class very entertaining and is a relatively easy grader. His exams consists of true & false questions and either short essays or an essay that you hand in with your exam. He allows you to use an index card for your short essays. I took him for the summer session so we had 2 exams and 1 5 page paper.If u take PHR take him!

Very clear. Usually repeats evrything 10 times or until majority of the class gets it. Open note test, but still tricky questions. Read his questions Carefully! Dont buy book, never uses it. He will give your notes. Hes ok. Wouldnt take any of his classes again.

Excellent Professor, Excellent Class. You can learn a lot if you pay attention. He is very educated and can express logic over emotion quite easily. It all makes scense at the end. He does not ask for a lot when it comes to homework or papers. This class is a must!

This guy is an amazing professor.It is the most interesting class I have ever taken.He explains the material off the top of his head not out of the book, and he makes sure you understand it. Don't buy the book it is useless. If you pay attention you will do fine. I got a 4.0

Very Cool teacher. He explains everything to the T. he will repeat it over and over again if someone does not understand in the class. Best thing of all his is FUNNY AS HELL.

I took the class online, I took the quizzes and I still am not sure what this class is about. Prof S. was only available through his notes. There were no discussions, only check in and quizzes each week. This class made no sense to me. Prof. S is a nice professor and very laid back. The class was boring but the Professor is good.

Exellent teacher! Took basic logic online. Took Intro to philosopy and moral issues with him at the college. Would highly recommend taking his class in person, to get the most out of the course. Very engaging in the classroom.

Great Prof! If you miss classes it's ok because he reviews all the materials that have been covered before at the begining of each class. Explains everything very well and is a nice and funny guy! Take him, he's cool!

he is hard. he is very funny and keeps you interested. its basically hard because you only have 3 tests and a paper. so if you screw up on one your done.

AWESOME..AWESOME..AWESOME!! Prof. Slaughter is extremely thorough, reviews previous lectures prior to each class. Took this class for Summer I and LOVED IT!! Very nice and funny! He grades tough on the paper but makes sure you understand what's expected. Take great notes and study. Very nice surprise for quizes.

Simply the best online class you can take. If you take his online class take it. Easy quizes to study for Discussions are fun, gives you a better grade then whhat you earned if you show great effort in his class. Simply Greatness at its finest.

The class was pretty easy though he gives a lot of work. Homework every week and quizzes biweekly. 4 tests. He drops the lowest test grade and the lowest 2 quiz grade so there is room to mess up. Funny and patient guy he made philosophy enjoyable.

This class is relatively difficult dont be fooled by the term "Basic Logic". Prof. Slaughter does try and make it as easy as possible and really wants us to do well. I personally would not take an online class ever again in my life.

Professor Slaughter was by far the best online professor that I've ever taken. He tapes lectures every week and really wants you to learn because some of the material is difficult to understand. He really knows his stuff and he genuinely cares about the students. Definitely take him!

Took this guy for Moral issues. By far one of the better professor as B.C.C. Really makes sure you understand the material and makes class fun. Gives alot of quizzes to help out your grade. Def. take this professor.

Professor Slaughter is a nice guy, fair, lenient, and really knows what he's talking about. The subject matter is not easy and can get frustrating but his assignments are easy enough and writing assignments weren't bad (2 for our class). He grades with a large curve just do the work on time and go to class. I got an A.

Slaughter is a great professor. Philosophy can be a very confusing subject, but he always makes sure everyone understands before he moves on. His quizzes and tests are all online, so they are open book. He also curves grades as well. Make sure if you do not understand something to speak up, he will def clarify whatever you do not understand.

The most lenient professor Ive ever met! He gives 50 chances to retake every test. At the same time, he is extremely clear and helpful when it comes to material he goes through. I definitely would recommend him.

By far my fav professor at bergen. very straightforward and goes over everything you need to know. is very funny and gives plenty of chances to catch up and do well on tests/quizzes. gives a lot of quizzes. Got an A. would take him again for any class.

Professor Slaughter def does his best at teaching confusing material however he can be condescending to students. He is also funny and is extremely lenient in grading to the best of his ability. homework is not mandatory but recommended if you want to understand.

Honestly the best professor I have had at this school. Did not buy the textbook. Got an A. Extremely easy material was made easier with his handouts. Take him.

Mr. slaughter is a good professor and does his best to explain the material. He's very lenient in grading. I got an A in his class.

I took this class as a hybrid class and it really could not get any easier. He explained everything so clearly, gave multiple chances for people to do things, and made the quizzes and tests soooo easy! If you don't get a good grade in this class, there's a problem.

This guy is the man. Took a usually boring class and made it very interesting. He tries hard to make sure you understand the material. He doesn't try to trick you on tests or quizzes either. If you need a PHR class TAKE SLAUGHTER.

Great professor! Explains very clearly and funny guy. 3 Tests in class and 13 quizzes online are easy. 1 small paper, also easy. Provides you cheat sheet that you can use on tests! Drops at least 4 quizzes and gives retakes. It's almost impossible to fail this class. Just show up, pay attention, and you'll ace this class no problem.

This guy is the man ! The way he presents the information is crystal clear. He has office hours where he breaks everything down very well, so if the material doesn't come easy to you there is no excuse ! He is a very bright individual, really funny and keeps classroom discussions interesting. Best professor I've had at Bergen so far.

BEST EVER. Take him, you won't regret. He gives out 2 test which are both online, and two papers. There is a weekly quiz that's also online. He explains everything so well, and makes the class very interesting.

This guy is the man. Super down to earth and one of the most entertaining and interesting classes I've ever taken. Slaughter explains everything and will explain it in different ways if anyone is confused. There's a short online quiz once a week, one paper, and two tests. I already registered for another class with him next semester. Take him.

Prof Slaughter is a funny guy. He responds well to participation. He speaks fast and you may not get a chance to write everything down but he also gives out handouts and information on where you can find what he said in the text books. I got more into the class as the course when on and was sad when it was over. take him!

If you are a philosophy major make sure you start with this Professor! Professor Slaughter is amazing in his teaching styles and he will make sure you understand the information in the classes. I took 3 classes with him and he is life inspiring, I definitely recommend him! Pay attention and you will do exceptionally well and always ask questions !

At first I thought this prof was going to be great. However i was unfortunately wrong. He is very clear and understanding, but beware of the fact that he will add on classes even when the semester is over. This was a HUGE problem for me. I do not recommend him to anyone who is not serious about taking philosophy.

He posts useful notesrecordings online to supplement the course. In class, he spends a lot of time reviewing and sometimes goes off on deep & entertaining philosophical tangents. very intellectual man. knows what he's saying so don't try to second guess his lectures. expect a short quiz every week (online aka open book, tremendously easy, i swear! and he'll curve them) 3 major test - all 3 consists of an online portion (aka open book) and in class portion. And one paper (his choice) seems like alot but worth it i promise!

Lectures were entertaining and provoke philosophical thinking. Quizzes and tests were easy. He explains things over and over and over again. He really helped me out with a scheduling issue around finals. One of the best things was how quickly he grades things, he didn't leave you wondering about that last testquiz for too long.

Excellent professor. He is genuinely concerned with making sure everyone understands the material. He makes things easy to understand.

Funny teacher

Slaughter was so cool and laid back. I would not hesitate to take his class because it's a lot of fun and could be controversial at times. The discussions in class are really interesting and overall his class is chill.

He does not take attendance, which is always good because if something comes up and you need to miss you can, however, if you start not going to class you will be lost and it becomes hard to catch up. He gives a lot of online quizzes and then drops your lowest 6, just do all the ones in the beginning of semester and you'll be fine. great guy.

He's just the greatest. Fun in class, interactive, easy. All YOU need to do is just go to class and pay attention. Easiest tests/in-class assignments. NO HOMEWORK!

His main thing is just showing up to the class. He doesnt make attendance mandatory but if you dont show up, you will fail. He jokes that people like to test the hypothesis that you can not show up to class, only take the tests and quizes(the quizes are all online), and pass. Yea good luck hun. I agree that you should show up, however, I have missed a few lectures and still really grasped the content. He is very enthusiastic about his subject. Lectures are great and he's very sweet. Don't get me wrong though, the quizzes are tough.

Best teacher I've had in my entire life. Online quizzes you can use your cheat sheet on, 3 tests that are self explanatory due to the textbook reviews you do in class that he goes over (you can use the cheat sheet on the tests too), and then the short essay at the end. Hilarious guy. Goes off on philosophical tangents. Interesting dude. Take him.

Prof Slaughter is awesome, and logic was one of my favorite classes I took at Bergen. If you like math you'll really love intro to logic.

really good teacher!!! There are a lot of online quizzes (which count, but not as much as test) and he curves a lot of them! There are two big tests, which he helps you prepare for, and one big paper which is easy to write. Would honestly recommend for anyone interested in taking a Philosphy class. Hes really good.

Prof Slaughter is an amazing guy. Took intro to philosophy with him. Nothing in his class is hard to understand because he will do his best to make sure that you understand his lectures. Curves your quiz grades, and prepares you for all important grades; such as, his 2 exams and 1 final paper that isn't hard at all. Definitely recommend him!

His class is interesting. Always curve your grades. I got all above 95+ for my exam and quiz. As long as you follow him in class, you can do well.

He is a great teacher, a smart easygoing guy with a great sense of humor. You might want to pay attention since his class is not actually easy but if you go to class and pay attention you'll pass 100% guaranteed

I took him again. That should say something. The reason I took him again is that he makes every class interesting. The humor and up to date topics help build the relationship he has with his students. He gives many opportunities to come back from a slumped grade. Overall great guy that I hope they give him his damn vape room. He deserves it.

All around great professor. Very insightful man and never passes up an opportunity to have a philosophical discussion, even right in the middle of class. Sarcastic comments to those who are asking for it. No attendance but you had better show up. You never know what interesting conversations you may miss.

Prof Slaughter goes over the class material thoroughly. All exams questions are aligned with those in class, so no surprises! He likes to liven up the classroom with some philosophical debates and they are quite interesting. The weekly quizzes are super helpful and he only counts the top 10 for grading. It's definitely an easy A!

His lectures are good, sometimes confusing though, but if you pay attention you can do this. With the class being online, some of the test questions were a little weird or that we may have not covered. Not very accessible by email. Still a good professor.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, as he will make sure you understand the concept before moving on. Overall a unique elective if you like asking questions about the world.

Professor Slaughter is adept at teaching the course. He will answer any questions and encourages them to make sure that what he is teaching is being understood. The contents of his exams are from his lectures, so although attendance is not mandatory, it is necessary to do well.
